  Sure, in real life large age differences in a relationship CAN be abusive to the younger person (but don’t have to be). This is a drawn, fictional superhero story, however. So I don’t entirely see why it should seem creepy.
  
  I did not see anyone getting upset when Kyle used his fire powers for fun, while it is certainly dangerous to play with fire.

  Personally, I don’t think that the Annihilator is actually THAT old. I mean….silver hair does not an elderly man make. His face IS chiseled, but not any more creased than any middle aged business man. At least that’s my observation. Besides, there’s a certain charm to a situation in which one partner has more experience and instructs the younger. Granted, if Kyle weren’t old enough to be in a bar, then there would be a problem.

  The ONLY thing that creeps me in the slightest….is did the Annihilator actually go to the gay bar dressed as he is? Really? Although the thought is more amusing then creeping. As it is….he’s damn hot. XD So not a problem for me at all.

I don’t really find the age gap that much of a problem, I mean he is nearly 18 and obviously interested in The Annihilator. Granted he is evil, a super villain, and he may be simply using the boy, but it’s a fictional world. What is a story without a little controversy?

Love has no age.
We have just put a limit on it and I don’t see a problem that he is 17. The little hero can say No if he wish.

I once dated a man 30 years my senior. It wasn’t a real problem until I accidentally bumped into his son, who is three years younger than me, and more my type. Then I had to break things off. As far as we know, Anni doesn’t have any kids so I think it’s perfectly okey that they’re together!

And as far as the story goes, I think that’s kind of the point. If Kyle were older, he’d be wiser to the Annihilator’s evil plot. It’s that young, first love that makes one giddy and vulnerable and do stupid things. I wouldn’t be surprised if later on, Anni asked him to get him off the hook for something or trick him into helping commit a crime. And Kyle would do it because that’s what a kid in love for the first time does. Hopefully though, the Annihilator will begin to develop real feelings for Kyle and do what’s right.

Ah, character development. Alex, you are phenomenal!

  omg, im actually very in love with a man whose just turned 39 October 11th :O I mean… he’s an actor… but hey, I really truly think my love for this man is legitimate. If I did ever see him in person, besides foaming at the mouth, I feel like if we ever somehow in some strange world, connected and became friends, i would definitely want a deeper relationship. and im 19 turning 20 november 23rd hahaha

    My sister is also married to a man twice her age. They have struggles, but nothing to do with age. My dad is ten years older than my mother.
    
    I just like to think of it like Sleeping Beauty. When Prince Phillip meets Princess Aurora for the first time she is an infant and he’s, like, what? 10? But they fall in love. Yeah, it’s weird when they’re young, but when they grow up, when they’re both fully mentally developed people, age isn’t too much of a concern.
    
    I honestly don’t see how loving someone of a different age is much different than loving someone of a different race or religion or gender (or same gender, lol).

      My sister also married someone twice her age. She now has two children under the age of three with him, and he will be lucky to live long enough to see them off to college. Age may be just a number, and love can come in all forms, but some kinds of heartbreak are hard to outrun.

Annihilator actually reminds me of a more love struck version of Slade Wilson *AKA Deathstroke* He’s wise, crafty, and definantly loves to play head games with Kyle *Red Hot* and more so, loves the reaction he gets from the head games he plays. Though this just might be me who noticed this because I have a friend who role plays as Slade sometimes, and while it was AU, the two of us had some weird stuff go down between him and a ‘new to the group Blue Lantern’ alien. Things that I’m naturally against outside of a fantasy.
I hope that this topic didn’t get derailed from my point.
