They’re on the bed together! Houston, we have touchdown!

Over on the Patreon page, after our usual 1st of the month dip while people’s credit cards get sorted out, we are now back over $6,450, less than $600 now from me being able to pay my artists and break even on my expenses (rent, etc.)! Y’all rock!

And this month, we have a really beautiful Flashback Friday—it’s Kyle painted by artist Marccus, it’s another fully nude painting, and it’s one of my favorites! Here’s a sneak preview:

$5+ Patrons can download the full (and fully nude!) pin-up immediately. And $10+ Patrons will be sent a high-res version with over double the resolution on the 10th of October!

There are lots of great benefits to being a Patron (you can see them all here along with an explanation of what the heck Patreon is), and you’d really be helping me out if you became one too. If you’re enjoying our work here and would like to see it continue (and would like to get access to all kinds of special benefits),

please take a moment to watch the video on my Patreon page and consider becoming a Patron.

So! Looks like Kyle got hard in these cuddle sessions too! And Spooky liked it! Is this a new thing? Has Spooky always liked guys? Or is it just Kyle who enchants Spooky’s wand?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • Good Q, time to get this sorted out.

  • davefragments

    These two are so innocent

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Well…maybe not Spooky. 😉

      • Saxon_Brenton

I think it’s fair to say that Spooky probably isn’t innocent, but also he doesn’t let himself get crippling hangups about it. Perhaps ‘uncomplicated’.

      • davefragments

They are trying to play the innocent but we all know the truth

        • unknownlight927

Haven’t you heard? Innocent is the new BAD!! 🙂 🙂

          • Bei Dawei

In real life these two would be like Beavis and Butthead.

          • davefragments

This is like the original hairspray for men that was proposed to be named “Balls” for Butch Reassurance of the buyer’s manhood.
            A verbal dance before debauchery

          • Bei Dawei

For that extra touch of class!

          • davefragments

            good phrasing

  • stickfigurefairytales

    Hooray for communication!

    • Bei Dawei

See? They found they have common interests!

  • ^_^

  • Nichelle Haliday

I do like the fact that these two are taking the time to actually talk to one another rather than simply jumping into bed. It’s nice to know that Spooky was attracted to Kyle before all this started.

  • D’awww!

  • Bei Dawei

So now they’re sitting on the bed together.

    • Curt Clark

  • Wayne Lunkwitz

    This page is sooooo sweet!

  • Mary Klemzak

Blah blah blah. Hes always been bi.. Like it matters, at this point… He likes you. You like him. You both get hard for each other…

Why are you still dressed? Cmon.. Its nsfw for a reason! Chop chop! Boys. Clothes. Off. Now! Let’s go!

    • I rather like that it isn’t sudden sex without any details between them. This is revelation time, also since it never was said (in comic) that Spooky also like guys.

      • unknownlight927

Its funny, from the beginning I always thought Spooky was either in the closet like Kyle or he was Bi. He enjoyed that gay fan fiction from the first Interlude a little too much. Plus he was always going on and on about girls, which is always a telling clue at least in fictional stories. Spooky is Spooky and I love him for it! 🙂

        • I suspected early on that he was bi. Can’t say exactly why.
About the girls; it’s mostly been shared various ways outside of the comic, but Spooky is a very ‘sexual being’ who’s had sex with plenty of women (also when he was a teenager).

Spooky’s past history, and casual approch to sex, probably made it harder to guess that he also likes guys. Especially if still has a preference to women and/or didn’t (publically) hook up with any men.
I hope next page tells us if he’s ever been with a human guy after he came home from hell.

        • Klaus

Paul enjoyed them too, and he is strictly for women only.

          • Curt Clark

I think Paul was more amused by them. I appreciate that he’s already that secure in himself at that age.

          • Klaus

Paul was amused, just like Spooky. Spooky mostly used them as a way to tease Gordon.

    • Bei Dawei

Boo hoo, what about candlelight dinners and long walks on the beach?!

      • Mary Klemzak

As long as its not in this art style. All I see are Archie Andrews and chubby Reggie Mantle. And I LOVE those comics. I consumed them regularly as a kid and teen.

        • Curt Clark

Eh, the dinners and beach walks are fine in this style. I’d just feel a little skeevy about the sex scenes.

          • Mary Klemzak

Skeevy is what I’m here for! Doubt I’ll get to see them though. Comic artists like to obscure them by using objects in front. Or, only available to patrons who shell out however much they can afford. I can’t. And I’m bitter, so forgive me if I’m salty, about not knowing “extras”.

          • Curt Clark

            I may have misspoke.

I am really looking forward to the sex scenes. Or rather, any sex scenes that are drawn by Adam, the regular artist.

Julie is an amazing artist, she draws wonderfully expressive faces — but the style she has chosen for “Legendary” makes these two look far younger than I would personally feel comfortable seeing naked.

          • Mary Klemzak

Also, this comic, to me, is sort of classified as bara/muscle. These current ones are more twink, than bara. Too skinny for my taste.

But, if they show passion, love, affection, caring, and closeness as friends, then I might be on board.

Making out, being handsy, caressing each other, making each other feel mutual pleasure(not necessarily at the same time)

    • Curt Clark

It feels weird for a gay guy with my proclivities to be saying this, but I’m glad they’re taking it slow. This is the first course of what will hopefully be a big tasty feast. I don’t want it all at once, because that way leads to regrets and indigestion.

      • Mary Klemzak

So far, this has given me a sour taste in my mouth.

  • Heh! On previous page I had clearly factored that Kyle likely didn’t know Spooky liked more than women, without the (obvious) that the case was the same the other way around /facepalm.
Kyle was so secretive about it that he didn’t ‘come out’ to the team until the night in the warehouse. Kinda forgot that in my argument.

Just because Spooky took it so casually, why did I sort of expect that he pretty much knew/had guessed? It’s Spooky. Of course he would take the news like that. Nothing to freak him out, especially when he already suspected.

Even more brownie points to Spooky for being an awesome friend.

  • Bei Dawei

Notice the framed, torn documents (?) hung above the TV set. I wonder what those are?

Yes, I just made a little map of Spooky’s bedroom, just to see if its geography was internally consistent. I think it is, more or less. The dimensions of the window, chest of drawers, kitchenette, etc. still confuse me, and the “camera angles” often make it hard to make sense of where Kyle and Spooky are positioned in relation to each other.

    • It’s newspaper articles about some of Spooky’s big cases where he fought demons and/or saved kids. I remember that from Script, page 1 on Patreon.

  • unknownlight927

Like everyone, I can’t wait to get to the ACTION (wink wink), but there is no denying this talk needed to happen. So far, Legendary is proving to be everything I hoped it would be which kind of sucks because it makes the wait for these pages even more DRAINING!! Love and Hate you Alex and Co. 🙂 :):)

  • Cman65

    I have always loked guys

    • Bei Dawei

From your photo I am guessing that you are a True Scotsman, possibly a Commando of some sort.

      • Chris Dangerfield

        Hee, hee, hee…

  • Michael

This is what I love about Spooky. He’s so respectful of people’s boundaries and limits, so concerned about their comfort and happiness, even when it leaves him frustrated.

    • Concent in every way is very important to him.

  • Chris Dangerfield

Thank you such much guys for such an honest and truly touching page.

This really spoke to me. For me it was never just, “did the person I was with simply want to have sex — because so often that is the focus, especially when young. For me, it was always (what Kyle is worried about), “Did you want to have sex with ME?”

    (I know… me, me, me…)

I suspect I was a lot like Kyle. It was always sooooo important to know that I wasn’t just a warm body with a penis, but that it was something about ME that personally attracted the man I cared about. HA ha…

Trust me, I’m not saying that I didn’t just make some poor choices based only on hormones and attractions. However, whatever followed was never truly important and good… unless I felt like I was a key part of the equation.

This page is so appealing because Kyle speaks for all of us. He’s talking to Spooks who is so confident, appealing and mysterious that Kyle hasn’t been quite sure that he could be that important to him.

And don’t we all need to feel important… especially to those people who are important to us? Especially for sex to be as good as most of us long for it to be?

So, Spooky reminds Kyle that he (Spooky) was being sensitive to the fact that Kyle hadn’t been ready to come out of the closet until now.

And then, how adorable is it that Kyle is just thrilled at the idea that Spooky likes guys. From the outside for us readers it seems so obvious that Spooks is at least Bi… but I remember discovering friends I thought were heterosexual were gay or bi all along and when I learned the truth I was amazed. They thought it was hysterical I was a great source of entertainment for a year or so…

The truth was that they were waiting for me to become comfortable with who I was. Maybe difficult, but ultimately a real kindness to me.

The idea that Spooky is Bi might blow Kyle’s slowly opening brain, but it will be worth it, just as it is to see Kyle’s face in that last panel.

In our much more globalized world these day, LGBTQ is becoming more and more, “a known thing.” This page will really resonate with those of us who grew up bit more isolated, ignorant and alone. In the alone days, discovering that someone important to you is not only just being ‘supportive,’ but might actually be really attracted to you (WHO? ME?) is such a joy and revelation..

Thank you so much Alex for really GETTING this idea and sharing it. Thank you Julie, this is a page that your heart-rich artistic style makes sing out. Kyle is a joy. And thank you Vero, as always, for being just so fantastically talented. Your work brings so much to every page. Take care you all!

    • Curt Clark

I have a little more of a “tiered” approach.

There are some times when I’m just looking to have a good time, and taken for what they are, those occasions can be nice. As long as everyone’s honest and open about what they’re after, something that’s just a hookup can be a lot of fun.

But when I’m with my boyfriends, things are VERY different. It stops being about the sex and starts being about them. And it’s just as rewarding when they make it as much about me (Me! Me!) as I do about them.

Truthfully, I can get as much or more emotional gratification playing video games with my boyfriends, or having them read something I wrote and give me critique about it, than I would spending 12 hours in a bathhouse doing things that frighten fish with strangers. And I don’t have to worry about embarrassing smells or leaks afterwards either :p

That’s why I get Spooky’s patience. But I also get Kyle’s eagerness, because my polyamorous interdimensional fantasy boyfriend be HOT.

  • Klaus

Now Kyle, you know that Spooky does not remember his early life. There is no way he can answer that question.

    • Curt Clark

As far back as he DOES remember is good enough. ^^

  • Curt Clark

Fashion faux pas aside, this is so great. I really do appreciate Spooky and Kyle taking the time out to talk things out like adults and friends who are looking at that relationship upgrade in a mature light, rather than just getting to the punch and then waking up the next morning with ALL OF THE REGRETS.

I didn’t even realize how badly I wanted them to talk this out first. ^_^

    • Kate G

I don’t think it’s necessarily a fashion faux pas; some of us just like all of our buttons buttoned. I actually switch between buttoning all of the buttons and keeping one or two undone. I tend to prefer keeping them all buttoned because I bend down a lot at the barn and I do NOT like people looking down my shirt. (Fine, I have some issues with it. Bad history.)

      • Well, with that kind of shirt and the special male anatomy of the thyroid gland, i’d interpret it as a sign that Kyle still is insecure about the situation – on some shirts that topmost button is so uncomfortable, you’ll really have to want to cling to formalisms to keep it closed.

        • Kate G

Both men and women actually have Adam’s apples; the reason why men’s are more prominent – and thus more of an issue when dealing with collars – is because they have a bigger voice box (aka the larynx) because their vocal chords are bigger due to testosterone and that’s what makes your voices lower (alternatively, a smaller larynx with thinner chords produces higher pitches), so the cartilage (called the thyroid cartilage) sticks out more. So, it’s not special anatomy, just bigger anatomy.

Ah, that choir teacher where I learned all that was great, but he had some nutty rules.

      • Wayne Lunkwitz

I worked in a job for over 9 years ,where I was required to wear button down shirts and neck ties every day I worked (Monday- Saturday)…..the job was messy and I ruined more ties than I care to think about……as a result I have a serious aversion to wearing neck ties…..except when required by situation (Funerals mostly).

        • Kate G

Yikes. Dirty jobs and business wear. Why? Why, bosses, why? I feel so sad for your silk ties. Think of the trauma they incurred before meeting their ultimate demise. They must have been so happy to see the trash bin. LOL.

          • Wayne Lunkwitz

The company (a grocery store chain) was founded in 1937……the styles and customs were carried through the years until the late ’90’s. The company sold out earlier in the 2000’s and the newest owner, a corporate company closed down the store a few years back after Walmart moved into town.
As for me I moved on to a new job before that mess happened.

          • Kate G

Ah, my brother works in a similar environment (company that has a very old school CEO who works there but still conforms to that dress code) and he works in a shipping supply company. Women have to wear dresses or skirts whether you are in front on the floor or in the back like my brother. I keep thinking, “WHY?! WHY?! No no no no no! Trousers!”

  • How big is Spooky’s bed?! I want a bed so big that when two people sit in the middle there’s still all of that space left. Looks like four could sit side by side comfortably.

    • bronakopdin

yeah looks king size to me, too x’D

      • I mean we HAVE a king size and it’s not that big XD

        • Rich Brown

California King? (Its a king-and-a-half). Thats what we have. Room for 2 people, 4 dogs and an errant cat LOL

    • Jeff Baker

It’s probably a magic bed. “It’s bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.”

    • Toli Bera

      He stole Ani’s bed dimension.

  • bronakopdin

I like how this turned into talking for now, too! I was about to say Spooky is kinda rushing it (not too muhc but you know what I mean) and I prefer them setting some things straight from what they might have thought about past happenings 😀

  • Nate

See? Cuddles bring out the best in people. 😉

Now, tho, I’m thinking one hell of a flashback.

  • TwilightDreamer

These two are just…too darn adorable!!

  • Jason Moon

“Also I would get up because I didn’t want to fart on you.”

  • fujoshifanatic

Two people who genuinely like one another alking to get a better understanding of each other…the best kind of foreplay! And the shy, curious expression on Kyle in the last panel…squee! *rainbow-colored fujoshi sparkles shooting out of my ears*

  • Today’s discussion brings back some thoughts on an earlier comment about how much Spooky might be or have been “teasing” Kyle. What I believe we know about his sexual past with males (as all demons so far have been?) is that in Hell he was emotionally manipulated for others’ sexual gratification. He tells Kyle this when trying to comfort him during the rescue mission with Paul and Mitch. For all we know, Spooky’s entire sexual history with males has been one of abuse.

Of course, we may be about to find out a more complex history. Even if so, it’s remarkable that given the imprint of sexual abuse, Spooky allows himself to feel both intimacy with and attraction to Kyle, and that he pursues those with such respect for Kyle’s own issues and boundaries.

  • fujoshifanatic

So, since Kyle asked a good entryway question, are we finally going to get a little backstory (with visuals) on the demon boy he hung out with in Hell? I would really like that.

    • NoiseShaper

It begs for being another side story, at least…!

    • I SO want to know more about Anaado.

(Especially after the little indirect info’s given on a Spooky trading card, and one of the Spooky short stories on Patreon)

    • Klaus

Spooky was 13 at the time. I should think that that rules out any detailed sex scenes. Also, even though Spooky has a strong connection with Anaado in the one frame we have of him, he is a demon, and it is very possible that he was toying with Spooky like so many other demons.

  • I really never understood how the shirts can be mainly classified by collar size and all the actual fitting is determined by slim/regular/comfortable (which basically means “tent”) and a lot of guessing.
At least I don’t have to wear a tie at work, so i never close that upper button

    • NoiseShaper

It took me a while to find a brand which has the proper combination of collar size, arm length and body fit, but it’s really a pleasant difference.

  • davefragments

The Curator of the Hemingway Home and Museum in Key West stayed on Key West. The building is made of 18in thick limestone blocks and sits 16 feet above sea level with 15 foot high ceilings on the first floor) took in 54 polydactyl cats and rode out the hurricane.
No word on helping the mice…

    • Saxon_Brenton

That’s sweet. In exchange I can only offer the story of the injured baby great white shark that washed up on one of the northern Sydney beaches today. After beachgoers failed at helping the creature back to sea, marine wildlife staff arranged to close a nearby tidal bathing pool to human swimmers, and carried the shark in with a sling. Cue much video footage. As one commentator wrote: ‘shakes comically oversized fish food flakes into pool’.

  • Kate G

Women don’t have this sadly which is SO IRRITATING. I’ve nearly killed myself trying on a cute button up because the collar was so tight. I realize I’m small, but I am not THAT small. I have muscles. XD

  • Disqus just added this feature allowing websites to directly link to their Comment Policy above the comments. Y’all have been awesome, so there’s not any particular reason for me to add it, other than I think it’s a groovy idea. And I think it will be helpful to new commenters. 🙂

  • fujoshifanatic

I have weathered the storm, and in better shape than I expected. My building held up rather well, even for being in an evacuation zone. We were the last building in my neighborhood to lose power, and the first to get it back. Being stuck in my apartment (the hallway lights and elevator shut off when the backup generator ran out of gas) was a little scary, but I had plenty of water and food to hold us down for the 15 hours we were without power, so I just hunkered down with the kitties and relied on my cell phone (and the batteries I had the presence of mind to get to keep it powered) to keep abreast of what was going on. I had quite the show outside my window during the storm; debris and even birds being blown past, my street turning into a shallow river for a while, and even some looting of the shops across the way from where I live. Even as I and most of the people in my building were calling this in to the police, they didn’t come out until the winds died down, which were in excess of 100 miles an hour at times. Since more than 75% of the area is still without power, including everything west of the street I live on, I consider myself very lucky. My family fared okay as well; they also sheltered in place rather than travel north, and they suffered no damage, but are still without power.

    • Scary. Good that you are safe.

(A part of me would kinda like to see the ‘wind show’, just to see IRL how crazy that wind is – but without the bigger dangers and the power-outs)

    • davefragments

Glad to hear that you are safe.

    • Glad to know you are safe. My sister in GA has checked in as safe, but they still might get a storm surge. She also found a lobster on the road and said they are going to relocate it to the pond in their front yard.

    • Saxon_Brenton

It’s good to know that you’re safe.

    • Sapfo

      Stay safe.

  • Madock345

If you’re interested in the science of that, it’s actually pretty cool. The Low Pressure System that forms a hurricane creates something like a ripple effect in the atmosphere, if you watch on a satellite you can see them push all the other clouds and small systems away from them as they move, so you usually get incredibly clear skies all around a large hurricane.

  • Sapfo

My biggest question in all of this… will Kyle keep his socks on or take them of? And if he takes them off, is it true love (lust)?

  • D. G.

Alex, I’m kinda liking this ship.

  • Saxon_Brenton

Hello campers. So, are we already for another page of Spooky and Kyle talking like sensible adults?

    • davefragments

      Hi Saxon

    • Hello Saxon!

      • Saxon_Brenton

        Hi Doki.

  • davefragments

    Hello Campers

    • Saxon_Brenton

      • davefragments

I found several patches of my lawn dug up. It’s grubs. The grubs don’t dig but a skunk will and now I have a choice – kill the skunk or kill the grubs.

    • Hey dave!

      • davefragments

        Hi Doki

I don’t want to generalize, but most straight boys I know of personally don’t spoon each other in their undies, never mind the mutual boners. ^_^’

  • Derkins

Straight boys press their boners into each other while cuddling in their undies all the time, right? We can at least dream. ^.^’

  • Bruskedragon

i have to say this new art style isnt as great as the old style, i know its because a change of artists and such, but its so different from the old style and changes the basic look of the characters enough that its a bit weird trying to reassociate what i know of the characters toward their new designs. They look much younger and the style is much more cartoon like rather than traditional comic book style.
