The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Truth or Dare—Page 23

356 Comments on The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Truth or Dare—Page 23

Go on…

I just wanted to give a quick shout out to Gary Hansen’s Kickstarter project “Sam and Aaron – A Puppy Love Story.” It’s a sweet, wordless comic about puppy love between two gay kids (you can read it all for free here.) He’s down to the final hours of the project and hasn’t yet hit his goal. You should definitely check it out before it’s too late. 🙂

I also was able to post the final version of Kyle’s Full Monty Pin-up with its painted background by Marccus over at the Patreon page:

AMW_Comics_TYP-ETE-PATREON-Kyle-Marccus-Pinup_With_BG_SFW_800

I really like the scene Marccus has created here. Nice and romantic and cozy. And I like imagining how that fire got started. Fun!

Curious exactly how much of Kyle’s hair is red? All Patrons regardless of pledge level will be able to download the mobile wallpaper version of this! And since this is a new Full Monty image for July, $10+ Patrons will be sent high-res versions of this image after their payments have been processed for this month (which should happen in the first week of August). And the high-res Full Monty images have over double the resolution! 🙂

There are lots of great benefits to being a Patron, and you’d really be helping me out if you became one too. If you’re enjoying our work here and would like to see it continue (and would like to get access to all kinds of special benefits!),

please take a moment to watch the video on my Patreon page and consider becoming a Patron.

So! Could wedding bells be in Paul and Kyle’s future? How will the blushing boy react to this proposal? And what other secrets will we learn about this team?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • Wait what? Heee! Of course he would marry Kyle.

    • DC

I thought I had it there for a second 🙂

    • You’re rocking the V-hunt in this ToD comic. If the one having 3rd most V’s has 18 (or maybe with this 19) now, I’d say that’s either you, or you’re getting very close to that. I think it could be you 🙂

    • Jackal

Man, Kyle is a teenager who can’t even jerk off and manages to be a nice person. He’s kind of edging into sainthood. XD

  • DC

    new page

    • Chris Dangerfield

Congrats. That felt like your honorary Sir Edmund Hillary quote. You being the first person on this new mountain of a page and letting us all know where we are… LOL… you are very kind DC! 🙂

      • stickfigurefairytales

Actually, I think AJ got it.

        • Chris Dangerfield

Ohhhhhh…. Disqus is getting more inscrutable by the day. LOL. Thx.

      • DC

“missed it by that much” in my agent 86 voice

        • Chris Dangerfield

Got it! My Disqus looks totally whacky.

        • I read it in his voice!! Ha!

  • Stubbylegs

Hey, if Kyle would marry me, I’d have him. If there are ever any spiders in the house, he could nuke the shit out of ’em!

    • Madock345

Imagine having fresh Smores when and wherever you want 0_0

      • Chris Dangerfield

OMG… now you are making him too perfect.

      • and popcorn or just roasted marshmallow alone…mmmmmm..

    • Chris Dangerfield

HA… “Spider Man of a whole different type…”

  • Cydney Sabin

SQUEEEEEEE!!!! (Had to get it in before Doki. XD)

    • Congrats on your first!

    • Chris Dangerfield

Nicely done. She’ll be proud of you!

      • Cydney Sabin

She’ll be in my acceptance speech. XD

  • davefragments

Kyle is shy and conflicted with all this attention.

    • Chris Dangerfield

I know. I winced on his behalf!

  • DC

Paul is gorgeous with his answers.

    • 🙂

      • Chris Dangerfield

Oh, make it a tripple! HA!

    • Madock345

Paul is just gorgeous in general 😉

      • Chris Dangerfield

        Double agree!

    • Chris Dangerfield

      Agree!

  • Heh, Paul trying to be all smooth operator.

    • Madock345

      “Trying”

      • Chris Dangerfield

Compared to me at 17… he’s not doing bad at all. I couldn’t find “smooth operator” with both hands and a pair of binoculars. LOL.

        • Madock345

Well no wonder you couldn’t find it!

You should have been using a mirror 😉

          • Keneu

            Who’s the smooth operator now?

          • Chris Dangerfield

            ‘Zactly… no contest!

          • Chris Dangerfield

            HA! Story of my life!!

      • YupYup!

    • davefragments

It’s a good persona for him.

    • Keneu

I think he was a bit nervous because he says his answer to Amanda in one go without stopping for breath.

      • It’s quite possible. I did say trying. 🙂

        • Chris Dangerfield

          Very… trying. 🙂

          • But then again, he’s seventeen. I think most boys that age think they’re pretty smooth.

      • davefragments

I think most teenage boys are really fumblers when ti comes to proper adult romance because they are just starting to find their way. no matter how “slick” they pretend or appear, they really are masses of insecurity with fragile egos.

        • Chris Dangerfield

          BINGO!

    • Chris Dangerfield

      You’re like Admiral Sade… “Smooth Operator”. 😀

  • stickfigurefairytales

    Awww!

  • Mitch is too cute. ^_^

    • Chris Dangerfield

Somehow I sense you are sincere in your feelings for Mitch… I don’t know why, but I have a special sense when it come to these things. LOL.

  • Isn’t this the second time we got a “Wait, wut?” reaction?

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Yes, but it’s adorable. ^_^

    • DC

Yes ‘Wait’ for the next page and ‘what’ is going to say?

    • The third, actually. 🙂

  • Hmmm….I was just about to post the next question……should I wait until next camp to continue?

    • davefragments

      good idea

      • waiting? ^_^

        • davefragments

Yeah, finishing it next Wednesday or Tuesday night late.

    • stickfigurefairytales

That sounds like a good idea to me. It’s a really fun game!

  • Morgan

Oh gosh. That “senpai noticed me” blush of his…

  • Hahaha.. I knew it 😀

Both Amanda and Kyles answers are so them, and I can’t wait to hear more of Paul’s reasons.

    • DANISH!!! I was drawing out the questions so that you would hopefully show up before it was over!

      • Yeah, sadly I didn’t make it. I was just reading the comments with their Q&A’s on the previous page.

Would have been fun to be there, but I’m barely even awake now since I’ve only dozes off for about 2 hours. No real sleep. It’s a HORRIBLE night/morning with fairly warm temps along with heavy fog outside. The humidity is through the roof, and I can feel it in the air just sitting here *yawns for the 4th time while reading this*

But holy crap.. 58?? I had no clue it was that many ^_^

        • Well, truthfully before you and Sapfo there were a lot of separate individuals, once the game really started the claiming field narrowed down a lot.

          • lol.. but still.. 58. That’s one in every 5-6 pages average through the whole comic. Didn’t expect that many, also since I’ve barely gotten any through the ToD (summer and sleep has been hard on my hunting xD)

          • If you have anything say about any others in the top, hold off until the next game yeah? Don’t want to take all the fun out of guessing. ^_^

          • Oh, oops. Too late, I’m afraid. I just said something below based on the answers on previous page. I could edit it, but everyone here could see it until they refresh their page.
            I’ll edit it anyway.

          • Hmm. I was going to start on the lowest end of the top for the guessing game, but I could start with the top.

          • Get the easier ones out of the way first.

    • Chris Dangerfield

Okay I’ll stand right here and wait with you… ME TOO!

  • Chris Dangerfield

Awwww… this is a truly sweet page. I love Paul’s light touch after all of Gordon’s Drama-boy behavior. I also love him for apologizing to Amanda for possibly squicking her out and trying not to think THAT around her. Yeah… that’s like trying not to think about the white elephant on the coffee table. She is still the ultimate in Awesome. “Thanks, but that will NEVER happen.” She’s too perfect. That is exactly what a person should say. Honestly. Be flattered and then be honest. Thank you, but NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. Nice place to end the page. Of course, I imagine that every 17 year old imagines living with their best friend and partying while living the good life… AND THEN ADULTHOOD comes to visit and that dream gets totally screwed up.

Poor Kyle… Paul doesn’t know that his mind is bouncing all over the sexual rumpus room like a rubber ball. Poor poor Kyle. I can so relate.

Thank you Julie and Alex. This was a fun bounce of a page and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Alex I hope today’s a little better rather than worse and tomorrow is better yet. Get well!

    p.s. Paul’s lips are still seriously kissable. Snog-O-rama! 😀

    • And of course we also know the thoughts Amanda has had about Paul LOL

I’d say they’re about equal, but I like that she didn’t point that out. No reason to make him more flustered than necessary when he was barely breathing through his explanation of her as a choice.

      • Chris Dangerfield

Yeah, but she was being all consensual fantasy girl… Paul WOULD TOTALLY SHAG AMANDA IF HE COULD. There’s a not very subtle difference there. Poor Paul. LOL.

        • timemonkey

          Would he though?

    • Adam Black

im expecting more to Pauls answer.

      • Chris Dangerfield

Me too. At least I’m hoping! SHAGGING BABY!

        • Adam Black

I read that as “Never going to happen …before you are 19”

Its for Gordons own good. That scared baby bird is never going to learn to fly on his own.

    • Very glad you like the page, Chris — I very much enjoy your reaction to it (and Paul. LOL )

And thank you for the well wishing. I feel like I’ve finally kicked this cold (fingers crossed). Just in time for SDCC. 🙂

  • Malcolm Wright

There’s a pretty obvious answer to the “throw off a cliff bit”.

    • Madock345

      It’s Tsunami, right?

      • Malcolm Wright

        *cough* flyboy *cough*

        • Adam Black

          But Still, Tsunami, right?

          • Chris Dangerfield

Is Tsunami off the cliff a milestone goal?

          • Klaus

            If not it should be.

          • Chris Dangerfield

            HA!

          • Adam Black

            @alexwoolfson:disqus
should make “Throw Tsunami off the Cliff” A game.

            I want to play Spooky.
( Spooky takes off his pants and Tsunami back off the cliff , on his own in homphobic terror)

        • timemonkey

That defeats the point of the question. The game isn’t called marry, Screw, Technicality.

          • Malcolm Wright

I sort of agree, but the “throw off a cliff” bit is weirdly specific considering the conventional name of the game.

          • timemonkey

I’ve heard it called both, throw off a cliff just sounds less harsh than kill and is usually used by younger kids. But the point of the Truth or Dare game is to tell truths to break the curse or they die. So they really can’t play ‘find the loophole’ like they might usually.

  • KezzieZ

Daaaang! I had a feeling Kyle would either get shag or marry out of the options.

The legal guardian info with Amanda was something I sort of expected, but not entirely? I’m not sure, I guess it was kind of the team mom vibe she gives off, being one of the older and definitely more level-headed characters of the group.

    • Klaus

It was mentioned on the plane.

      • KezzieZ

Thanks for the link! It’s been a while since I’ve read that part, so it looks like it’s about time to binge the archive for a refresher.

    • She and Gordon are the legal guardians for the minors in the group – which is down to Paul and Mitch, now that Kyle just turned 18.

      • Klaus

In the main comic. In this scene, it still includes Kyle.

  • OH GOD I’m shipping… I’m fucking shipping! ♥

  • Adam Black

    wait , what?

  • Oh yeah….HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO STEVE RODGERS.

I wonder if Hamlet is going to share her celebratory/tributary? drawings?

  • TwilightDreamer

*internal squeal* omg!!! omg best answer ever!! X3 Paul you’re a total sweetheart!!! XD <3

  • Keneu

I’ve just noticed the preview of Kyle’s pin-up with a background. Is he at Spooky’s cabin? *-*

  • It’s too bad Kyle won’t remember this. It would go a long way toward encouraging him to open up to the rest.

Is that Paul’s reflection on the floor in panel five?

  • Fabulous Alien

I literally just awwwwwed all over the place. Paul is flustered-smooth-respectful-adorable, Kyle’s blush in the last panel has to be the best thing ever, and Amanda’s reaction is just perfect.
“I’m flattered, but it’s not going to happen.” Of course she is flattered, he called her strong, smart and beautiful. Also, she can’t be that surprised: she works very closely with three young straight males (let’s assume she knows about both Mitch and Kyle), one of which she has been somewhat involved with. It’s not a stretch to think she might be the object of (at least occasional) fantasies.

  • Is it okay that I want to give Kyle a hug? He’s just too adorbs in that last panel all blushing and basically unable to say anything.

    • Klaus

      Totally OK.

  • dartist123

I’m back and once again, Spooky’s hand is not on Kyle at all times which deeply upsets me on a trivial level

  • Klaus

Once again he is smiling. This is not something he really doesn’t want to tell.

  • Klaus

Would anything happen to Gordon if Paul shoved him off a cliff? It does not matter if you consider harming Gordon good or bad. The good/bad fortune of having him off the cliff would be balanced by the bad/good fortune of him being unharmed.

  • Jeldenil

Just woke up. The only coherent thought in my mind about this page right now is: cuuuuute. Too… tired. Anyway, hi everyone.

    • Klaus

      HI

  • Cman65

and now you can but not here in Oz yet

  • Hamish C

Am I the only person expecting the ‘throw off a cliff’ answer to be Mitch, because, y’know, he can fly? No harm done, expectations subverted! Plus it’d make for some awesome reactions from Gordon.

    • Mitch is, of course, the easy out answer. I am really hoping he says Tsu-Tsu though.

      • Hamish C

Now that I think about it, the potential for more eyerolling and exasperated indignation from Tsunami could go down a treat. He really needs to lighten up a bit though, for real!

        • I think he needs surgical removal of that stick up his…rear

    • Columbine

Naw I said that when it last updated, great minds huh?

      • Hamish C

        haha, definitely 🙂

  • Klaus

About “Sam and Aaron – A Puppy Love Story.”: It does not surprise me that some of the readers at the exhebition wept.

  • A bit all ears there now, Tsu?

  • Starfighter updated, for those who read it.

  • Columbine

Well they do say you should marry your best friend! Personally I’m more inclined towards cohabiting but I understand the concept has appeal for a lot of people.

  • Jen Roberts

    Paul has great taste. <3

  • Alt+F7

    Well, well, well.

Nothing to come after that, just listing some of Tsunami’s favourite places as a kid.

  • alright.

at this point i don’t know if it’s okay if al defies our expectations here or no.

what would be the point of cliffhangering gordon for the “finalè” (as it were)?

  • bronakopdin

Now I’m curious for the explanation 😀

    indeed GO ON!

  • Michael

    That blush. ^_^

My respect for Paul has increased. Honest, unashamed, but still respectful and gentlemanly.

  • Melinda M

    BUtbutbut….SPOOKY?

    • Klaus

We may get to Spooky yet. There is one more question to be answered.

  • Sapfo

    Oh Paul!
I am so getting the rings for you and Kyle 🙂

I hope you in the USA have a good day tomorrow (today)! Have fun!

  • Toli Bera

well this is all flippy-floppy from what I was expecting. lets hear him out.

  • Huh, I just had a thought. What if Paul decides on throwing Spooky over a cliff? Spooky can either use his magic to summon something or use it to cushion his landing.

    • Klaus

Or maybe he throws Amanda. That would be quite safe. Spooky would catch her.

  • Chibi

After reading the new page check out this kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1459489592/the-collected-element-of-surprise-webcomic-to-prin/description

only 13 more days to contribute time is running out please help!

  • Wayne Lunkwitz

First off Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans….Let your flag wave high (whichever one you like)…….I think Kyle was surprised by this…..but then, Paul did answer the call when Kyle was in trouble with Anni…so I could ship those two easily.

  • SchalaRenee

Aww! Paul and Kyle! I am totally shipping them now.

  • Paul D’Arbonne

    IIIIIIIIIIIIInteresting!

  • Megan Staples

If I were a gay boy, I’d marry Kyle. He’s honest and hardworking and the sweetest guy ever. He cares so deeply about others and he’d bring something really special to a marriage because of that. Of course, his spouse would have to work hard to make sure Kle didn’t spend all his time worrying about others and make him look after himself too. Anyone would be damn lucky to have Kyle for a husband.

    • Mitch.

      • Klaus

I kind of suspected that you would say that.

    • Madock345

I’m not sure I could deal with marrying a super sexy dude I couldn’t have any kind of sexual contact with.

I’d take either Spooky or Flyboy. Spooky is contingent on him being able to teach me the magic. Not that he’s not hilarious and attractively confident, but he doesn’t stack up to Mitch’s sweet charm and looks.

      • ^_^

      • But does Paul know that Kyle’s dangerous when it comes to sex? I don’t think that’s common knowledge.

        TRiG.

      • timemonkey

But if he taught you magic you’d go insane!

        • Madock345

*would* I though? That’s actually something I’ve wondered. What if Spooky isn’t crazy because he learned magic *after* the thing happened, and the people who already knew it are the ones who went crazy?

          • timemonkey

Do you think Spooky’s the only person in the world to have tried magic since then? I mean it’s possible, but highly unlikely. If that was all it took you’d think PP would have had a few apprentices backing her up.

  • HOLY HAWAIIN HEDGEHOGS! Wow, that was not expected!

  • XD Kyle… are you blushing?

  • Good call, fujoshifanatic! Thank you for the thoughtful response. 🙂

And my fingers are crossed for that author too. Seems like a good guy.

  • Thank you so much for the shout out of my project Alex! And thank you to all of you who have contributed! It made my heart leap to come home from my camping trip and see the outpouring of support that came from this site. It was a perfect birthday present and it means so much to me.

    • Kate G

You….you have just freaking encapsulated my life without the romance bit (military kid. I moved….10 times. I hate moving.) ALTHOUGH, one could interpret this as a platonic relationship also because I was once really good friends with someone and this was our thing (we called ourselves fristers.) The beauty of picture books.

Can I just say how I love it’s going to be a picture book? I suffer from migraines and I LOATHE words when I have those. I have picture books or children’s books (the ones with few words) that I look at if I want to look at something. Plus it’s great for people with developmental disabilities too because I wouldn’t have understood this when I was little or even when I was ten (Autism stinks sometimes!), but parents with kids with these disabilities can change the story as their kids start to become more aware of the world. That goes for any child, but it’s especially important for “disabled” (I hate that word) children. We’re always needing multipurpose stuff!

And boooooooooooooooooooooo I missed the deadline from having to do a 6 hour drive home from vacation. Oh well. Will you sell them online after the initial release? *ears prick up*

      • Thank you for your comment! It makes me so happy to hear when people relate to the story in any way, and you bring up great points I hadn’t considered about it being text-less. I may be able to sell a handful should I have any left over, but the libraries and support centers need to be the priority. Sorry 🙁 If you want to send me an email (gary at garydoesthings.com) with your email, I can add you to a notification list should I sell them online.

        • Kate G

Oh definitely. Libraries always need more books of any sort! I haven’t actually been at my library in a month or two (gasp) because I’ve been so freaking busy but I’m always looking for new books that are through the eyes of disabled and picture them as intelligent/just have a character that is disabled and awesome or LGBTQIA books. Both are rare! It’s like, “Really? Seriously? Do we not exist?” It’s pretty irritating!

  • Ninhursag

Well, Kyle sure does look like a blushing bride in the last panel. Marrying Kyle is a good choice, but for me personally, Spooky is the one.

  • purplefoxglove

    *o* I ship it.

  • Derkins

Hm. Now who is he gonna throw off a cliff? Spooky or Tsu? Gee, I wonder. :p

  • Kate G

RELIABLE INTERNET! Oh, how I have missed thee!

Well, to be honest, I actually didn’t. It was nice to unplug for the most part and commune with nature, especially the loons. They are very pretty. STILL, the Internet is nice to have.

The mosquitoes were HORRIBLE. I came home with 12 mosquito bites and that was with my extra strength DEET mosquito spray. Damn bugs. Why do they love me so much? It’s one-sided, folks.

I love how animated Fluke’s faces are in this comic interlude, I must say. Actually, we’ve seen all of the character’s faces be really animated in this interlude. Tsunami really has a stoic face and we’ve seen a broad range of emotions, but Fluke’s make me laugh in this page (particularly panel 2.) Kyle’s face in that last panel makes my heart melt; it’s so adorably naive and sooooooooo cute.

But…..BUT….whom shall Fluke choose to throw off the cliff? Hmmmmmmmmmm.

    • Columbine

My sympathies, mosquitoes love me too. Aloe vera (raw or processed) is good for the bites.

      • Kate G

You know, that stuff doesn’t work on me. I use Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion and I stick, currently, bright wacky colored non-latex band-aids on them. I saw some super cool Star Wars designed band-aids…but of course they were latex. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

        • Columbine

Urgh, that sucks. I heard somewhere that eating marmite helps keep them away but I’ve never tried it cos I can’t stand the stuff.

          • Kate G

I don’t think marmite exists in the US, but I have heard it is an acquired taste. It’s one of those things you either love or hate. It’s like EVOO I think. You either love EVOO on everything or you don’t. I don’t mind cooking with EVOO to sautee veggies or make a stir fry. Using it in lieu of margarine for pasta? HELL NO.

          • Columbine

Wait- people in the US put margarine on pasta? O_O Wow, ok I may have to process that for a moment. (Then again ‘salad’ back home rarely had lettuce and was like 80% finely chopped parsley)

          • Kate G

Yep, I do anyway. Or I eat it absolutely positively plain (no sauces, no butter, no margarine, no oils, nothing) except some salt. Waitresses give me very strange looks when I tell them to not put anything on my spaghetti as I LOATHE marinara sauce and meatballs. I. HATE. It. Hate hate hate hate hate. Plus butter and spaghetti just don’t mix. It’s either margarine and spaghetti or plain. I have very picky taste buds!

          • Michael

marmite does nothing (except taste bad). Vegemite is the good stuff, mosquitoes hate what it does to your blood. Mmm, B-vitamins. They’re for vitality, you know.

      • Michael

We’ve had a bottle of “bite spray” that has mild anaesthetic and antihistamine components, so it’s really good for mosquitoes. Reduces swelling and numbs the nerves, in one go.

I don’t know where we got it, though, or when. Seems like we’ve had it for years.

        • Kate G

Um, I want some of that stuff! Can you send me a big bottle? (I’m sure the shipping is insane from Australia to the US.)

^Totally joking. The shipping would be insane.

          • Michael

You should be able to find it in a chemist’s.

I don’t know if I have the right licenses or customs clearance for exporting medical supplies :/

    • Michael

Welcome back! I’m glad to hear you didn’t come across any wandering gympie-gympie, or poison ivy/oak/nettles/badgers.

If you like loons, you should just go to the youtube comments section. 😛

re. mosquitoes, it’s a well-known Australian folk-wisdom that eating lots of vegemite will keep them away. Mosquitoes don’t like B-vitamins, or something, so pump yourself full of them via delicious spreadable beer-waste and they’ll leave you alone.

I’ll probably miss this page update as well, as I will be having lunch with y grandma and other family.

      • Kate G

LOL. Not those loons, although you might as well consider my family a set of loons. HA HA HA. Loons….the birds.

I wish I saw a badger! I think they are cute. They are grumpy but they mostly leave humans alone. It’s skunks you need to worry about!

I take a giant B-vitamin pill every single night. That folk wisdom is WRONG. Clearly it’s the smell that deters mosquitoes. 😛 (Seriously, I’ve heard the stuff smells horrible.)

        • Michael

I wish some of our Australian animals could be classed as “grumpy but mostly harmless”.

Well, maybe wombats, but if they have a mind to go somewhere and you have a tent or bike or car in the way, say goodbye to your tent, bike, or car.

          • Kate G

Badgers are only mean if you are an idiot and provoke them. Many animals where I was have this reputation of being “threatening” and “kill on sight if you see them” but if you learn about them, you know they are very shy of humans and prefer to stay away from humans at all costs. Gray wolves, black bears and red foxes are known for the area I was (in fact, the town I was in has this “bear” theme; all of the restaurants have the word “bear” it seems) and these animals will literally do everything in their power to avoid you as a human. It’s when you give them no choice but to attack that they will hurt you. It’s very sad that they are shot on sight because of these beliefs. I am very fond of wolves (very, very fond!) and I hate the stigma that surrounds them!

          • Michael

That’s sad, wolves are awesome if they’re not starving and you aren’t threatening them.

To be fair, most Australian animals are like that as well, mostly placid unless you provoke or threaten them.

Except the drop bears, they’ll attack on sight. Which is usually before you even know they’re there.

          • Kate G

Okay, so since I googled this….is this Australia’s version of Sasquatch? There’s no physical evidence of drop bears so does that mean that they are really real?

/has probably put my foot in my mouth

          • Michael

Drop bears are very real, and although endangered in the wild, still pose a risk to tourists and bushwalkers.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Mosquitoes are terrible. You have my heartfelt sympathy.

      • Kate G

They are! Why couldn’t evolution/God/whatever you believe in have made something less pesky for the frogs, the toads and spiders to eat?! Why mosquitoes?! They are absolutely horrible!

        • stickfigurefairytales

I heard on a podcast that mosquitoes are one of the extremely few creatures that would not have a significant effect on the ecosystem if they were to go extinct.

          • Kate G

That’s it, I vote for a plan to made on how to make the mosquito extinct (without making any other species extinct, of course.)

        • davefragments

In the SyFy bad movie contest (unofficial) before SHARKNADO (Which is funny, before the “Alien possessed Whool Mammoth, was “ManSquito” the unearthly combination of man and mosquito.
It was unwatchable unless you were intoxicated and/or comatose.

          • Kate G

I imagine it was. That had to be horrific. *shudders*

          • davefragments

You saw no blood. The “creature” wore a ugly rubber mask with a long thing like a kitchen baster sticking out of it. They had wings but they weren’t bir “angel” wings, they were silvery thin “Fairy wings” that were out of character of mankillers. If they stung someone, the camera angle never showed blood or bleeding or penetration but only the dying actor faking it by overacting, screaming, jerking yelling. You could see the wires when they flew.
It was so bad that it wasn’t even funny. Sharknado is laughable because it’s so bad. Mansquito was simply not there as a story.

          • Kate G

Oh gosh, that reminds me of some Power Ranger episodes from back in the day. LOL.

          • davefragments

Did you know that FROZEN has a teeny tiny disclaimer at the end of the film that reads:
“The views and opinions expressed by Kristoff in the film that all men eat their own boogers are solely his own and do not necessarily reflect the views or opinions of The Walt Disney Company or the filmmakers. Neither The Walt Disney Company nor the filmmakers make any representation of the accuracy of any such views and opinions.”

          • Kate G

Yes, I did know that one! I actually laughed when I saw that at the end of the film!

          • davefragments

IT’s going to make me watch the film. I haven’t seen it yet.

          • Kate G

*gasp* You haven’t seen Frozen? *gasps in mock horror* You have grandchildren and not been subjected to that phenomenon? I’m surprised!

          • davefragments

That made me smile this morning.
I don’t have grandchildren. My Brother is the olde pharte with grandchildren. I’m younger. At least a big 4 minutes younger. He’s Old, Old, Old (As I tell him all the time now. Retribution for insisting on those 4 minutes year ago.) His grandchildren are all in their side to late teens. No great-grandchildren yet. They are too young to have kids.
So without a young kid around, I haven’t seen Frozen.
I do see that the cable lists a “Frozen singalong.” I’m not sure I’m ready for that all by myself.

          • Kate G

Awwwwwwwwwwww. Well, they are kind of like grandchildren? Great-nieces and nephews? Do you see them often?

I think I only have two great-aunts and uncles left (I know. I said “only.” My grams was the youngest of 11 so there!) My great-aunt is really scary and my great-uncle is really funny. My favorite great-aunt passed away almost a year ago.

I always hated that “Frozen singalong” thing. If I want to sing-a-long to the songs, I’ll turn on the captions on my regular DVD thank you very much. That’s why they are there!

          • davefragments

These kids are 50 y/o to 20y/o and they are “too sophisticated” for Frozen. It’s that teenage thing. They forget that even grownups like to see silly things once in a while. My personal favorites are THE INCREDIBLES, CHICKEN RuN, MONSTERS INC. and Chicken Little.

          • Kate G

Clearly, your nephews and nieces (I’m getting tired of writing “great” here) need to learn a lesson–you are NEVER TOO OLD FOR ANIMATED MOVIES!!! I am 26 and I still love animated movies. My grams was 75 when she died and she died a die-hard Disney fan. You. Are. Never. Too. Old.

I can probably recite 99% of the animated movies I own. I watch them that much. >.< And I have A LOT OF THEM. I love animated movies as they are enjoyable to watch forwards….and backwards.

Oooooh, those are good ones, although I've never seen Chicken Little (that's the only one I've never seen in that list.) Have you seen Despicable Me? That is probably my favorite animated movie series. I am dragging my mom to the movie theatre to see the newest addition to the line-up over the weekend because damn if I don't see Minions. (Clearly, the reason why I want to see it is because it has THE MINIONS. I love them.)

          • davefragments

I have seen “Despicable ME #1” but not #2 yet. “How to train your dragon” is fun. I’ve just resisted all the crazy commentary around Frozen. In a few months or so, I’ll watch it.

          • Kate G

How to Train Your Dragon is a cute movie too.

Yea, I think you need to make your own opinion about Frozen. I like Frozen. A LOT of my friends DO NOT because of certain opinions said (frankly, I think they are crazy and feel very differently.) And you have to watch it to the very, very end for the Easter egg. 🙂

          • davefragments

Ever since Howard The Duck appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, I always watch till the end of the movie. A few friends and I get together about every three or four years and hold a “Howard The Duck” movie marathon of truly bad superhero or end of the world movies. I put forth the proposition that Howard The Duck was Jeffrey Jones’ Hamlet.

          • Kate G

Why do I not remember a Howard the Duck in Guardians of the Galaxy? *has seen this movie to the very end five trillion times* I’m losing my mind!

          • davefragments

Someone told me that you can get a quick glimpse of Howard when the first time that the Guardians enter Taneleer Tivan’s display room with the Orb. That’s before they find out what the orb can do. However, I’ve never see him there. My eyes aren’t that fast or good enough anymore.
At the very end of the movie, after Groot the Twig dances, almost at the very end of the credits, Taneleer Tivan is sitting drinking some booze out of a glass and lets the dog lick his face. That’s when Howard The Duck gets two short sentences “why do you let him do that? It’s Disgusting!” and that’s the Howard cameo.
The producers and writers of the new Guardians movie and all subsequent MARVEL movies have promised that cameo was the only time you will EVER see Howard The Duck in the current set of movies.
Apparently too many people consider the original “Howard The Duck” movie as so bad, that MARVEL will never attempt to rehabilitate it or Howard.
And I agree. That movie is so bad as to be laugh inducing.

  • I can actually camp tonight being back at home and in the land of internet available on my computer.

Also to the last page, who WOULDN’T marry, Kyle?

I need some motivation too to finish a fic tonight… I’m almost done… so very close XD

    • ….Those that want to marry Mitch.

      • Deal. You can have Mitch and I won’t put up any fight, although you’d kick my ass anyways XD

      • Nate

        Or Spooks.

(Nothing wrong with Mitch, of course. But Spooky just trips my cuddle-sense something fierce)

        • stickfigurefairytales

          Or Amanda.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Yay, welcome back, Starr!

  • Morgan

    Yay, camp’s started! Hey guys!

    • *Waves* hello! Let the camping begin! 🙂

      • Morgan

Wooh! I may be a little absent through some of it though *excited squeal* I got a job as a transcriber so I’m working as I wait.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Hooray for camping!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Hello! How are you today?

  • Not many people hear yet, should I go ahead and start the continuation of last camps game?

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Yeah, let’s do it!

    • stickfigurefairytales

Also, how are you doing, Doki?

      • …..pms day….3…..out of chocolate

        • stickfigurefairytales

D: Oh no! I wish I lived close enough to you that I could bring you more.

  • Hello Good Peoples!

    • hey AJ, how have you been?

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Hi AJ! How’s it going?

      • It’s going good. Having a minor break in the weather which is nice. I saw Terminator Genisys. Fun movie.
        How’s it going for you?

        • stickfigurefairytales

My friend from college who was out here visiting went home yesterday – we had a really fun time together! And I might have a shot at a new job, which is very exciting.

          • Cool! Guests are always fun to have. And yay!! for possible new job!

  • Keneu

    Hello everyone. ^^

  • Round 2 of the TYP Vs game! There has been one slight change to the numbers since the last game of course. As a recap – 110 people have claimed now 327 TYP Vs. 76 people have claimed only on V. The highest number of Vs claimed by one person is 58 and 26 Vs separate the first and second highest. The 8 highest numbers of claimed Vs are held by 11 people.

Round 2 Question 1: The three highest scores are 58, 32, and 19. Who claims which amount of Vs?

    • stickfigurefairytales

Hmm… I’m going to guess DanishWolf for 58, Sapfo for 32, and Admiral Jane for 19

      • I can answer that for Doki by saying BINGO!

        • I’m still extremely surprised I actully have that many since the V-hunting game didn’t go on from the start + I’ve barely made it to more than a handful of camps during the ToD comic.

          • Only 2 ToD Vs for Danish

          • It’s actually 2? I only thought I had one. Guess that’s 2 out of the few camps I’ve made it to ;D

          • stickfigurefairytales

Hmm, I think that Doki counted Vs for all of the pages, including before the game “officially” began.

          • ALL Vs

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Thought so! 🙂

          • She did, which is why I’m still surprised, because most of the 58 is collected within a smaller amount of pages than all those posted.
AJ is the one who’s been rocking the V-hunt lately 🙂

          • stickfigurefairytales

She’s definitely on a hot streak.

          • AJ has indeed received 9 of her Vs from the ToD arc,

        • stickfigurefairytales

          Hooray!!! o/

    • davefragments

I’m too tired to think tonight. But I’ll say Admiral Jane, Danishwolf, and Stickfigurefairytales and Dikidokibaka have the three top scores in the “grab the Virgin contest.” I know how many I have and you can count them on one hand of the jakravartid people who have 50 arms and were notable because they invented the aerosol deodorant before the wheel (thanks to the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Douglas Adams for that joke.

      • Awwww, I wouldn’t say that dave! I think you might have forgotten a few or are talented at using only one hand to count. ^_^

        • davefragments

Thanks. I’ll be a gentleman and not say what I do with one hand. wink, wink

  • davefragments

    I made it to camping.
II was invaded by three workmen to fix water damage in two ceilings, replace 3 bathroom fans and lots of plumbing. There’s drywall dust everywhere. More work tomorrow.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Wow! I’m glad you were able to make it despite all that!

      • davefragments

It’s been a really busy day.

  • o_o Yay, I made it to a camp!

    • and in time to play! first question has been posted!

      • I saw that just now. I was deciding if I should answer that or not 😉

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Hooray! Hi Danish!

      • Hi! This is like the 3rd time in over a month I make it here before the page. Progress xD

        • stickfigurefairytales

          o/

  • Nate

Can’t sleep, so I might as well camp. 😉

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Welcome, Nate!

      • Nate

        Thanks.

  • sticky got it right! Danish has 58, Sapfo 32, and AJ just claimed her 19th.

Round 2 Question 2: Who has the right to claim 18, 13, and 8? (Hint: two people can claim one of those numbers)

    • Nate

Can someone please explain the rules? I missed the last camp.

      • You make a guess on who has taken first comment on a page (aka. The Virgin aka the V.) It’s become kind of a game.
Doki has gone through all of the TYP pages and counted who has one/some and how many.

        • Nate

          Ah.

Does seeing the next page first count? Because I have. 😉

          • No, you have to be the first to comment on the page.

          • Nate

Ah. Well, the page proper isn’t up yet.

But Paul’s reasons for marrying Kyle (and not marrying Kyle) are great. As is his choice for the cliff toss. 😀

          • stickfigurefairytales

            No spoilers!

          • Where have you seen the new page?

          • Nate

Alex uses a consistent naming convention for his images. It’s easy to anticipate what the new name will be.

    • Wow!! I have quite the harem. Heee!

    • One is Mr. Dangerfield.

      • But which number does he claim?

        • Oh that has to be for better guessers.

And one of the others I would give to Dave.

          • davefragments

I thought I had 6 but I could be wrong. There was a long time in the early pages and I forget. if I’m there, it’s 8.

I think Dangerfield is the 13. But that’s only a guess.

          • I’m a terrible guesser. 🙂

    • Whooops! Sorry! Two people can claim TWO of those numbers! Silly me!

    • Hmm, not sure if I’d put him on 18 or 13, but I’d say one is Jakk (the sneaky chihuaha) and I think Dave has 18.
Sticky, and (not sure, but it not 18 then Jakk) for 13. Chris for 8.

      • dave does have 18, Jakk is one of them, Chris does have 8.

        • davefragments

          I have 18? Jeepers. I didn’t think I had that many.

          • ^_^ Congrats on the 4th largest TYP harem currently.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Oh, I forgot about Jakk!

      • stickfigurefairytales

I think I still have less than 10.

      • Wait, didn’t Holly take a bunch at some point?
I’ll try again. Jakk & Sofia 18, Dave and Holly 13, Chris 8?

        • Holly only has 3 and Sofia 2

        • Holly’s first two were claimed with the comment “MINE”. It made me smile.

    • stickfigurefairytales

I’m thinking 18 for Chris Dangerfield, 13 for Jen Roberts, and 8 for davefragments and Dokidokibaka?

    • Jakk and Dave 18, Saxon and Sticky 13, Chris 8?
      Are we closing in?

      • You have dave and Chris correct. Jakk is misplaced.

  • Nate

Things are hot & sticky at Maison De Nate, and not in the good way, so I’m going to bail. Have a good night, all. =)

  • Status on Question 2 of Round 2. Danish has correctly guessed that Jakk is in there somewhere, dave has 18 and Chris has 8. We need three more people with the correct numbers. (The original numbers were 18, 13, and 8)

    • stickfigurefairytales

Have the identities of any of the other people been guessed yet?

      • Other than Jakk, only one of the other two has so far been mentioned. I confirmed Jakk as one of them because Danish didn’t give him a specific place. I didn’t confirm the other because they were in the wrong place.

        • stickfigurefairytales

Hmm… then dave with 18, Jakk and Doki with 13, and Saxon and Starr with 8?

          • Jakk and Doki indeed both have 13. ^_^

          • stickfigurefairytales

Ah ha! So now we just have to figure out who has 8 (assuming that there is only one person with 18).

          • Yep, just one more person left.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Oh right, because we already know that Chris has 8!

          • Saxon_Brenton

[eyes bug out] I appreciate the thought Stick, but I have *no* virgins to my name.

          • None at all? I could have sworn you were in there at least once.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Really?! That surprises me!

          • Saxon_Brenton

I tried a few times early on, but I discovered that I just do not have the persistence to successfully pull it off. So to be honest I’ve kind of gotten out of the habit.

          • *big hugs*

          • Saxon_Brenton

Thank you Doki. Hugs are nice [return hugs for all well-wishers]

          • stickfigurefairytales

            It definitely requires some commitment.

          • *hugs*

    • So Dave 18, Jakk and Doki 13, Chris 8?
      Sylibub 8?

      • (^_^)/

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Way to go!

        • YAY! For some reason I kept going with two having 18 at first, until remembered that woud have put three on 18 up until last page where AJ got her 19th.
The it started making more sense when i got that one out of my head *lol*

  • Kate G

    CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMPING!

    • Michael

      CAMPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      CAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMPING!

  • Congrats to Danish for getting dave 18, Chris and syllibub 8. Congratulations to sticky getting Jakk and Doki at 13!

Round 2 Question 3: Who claims the last of the top eight numbers of Vs? Who are the three that claim 7 and 6? (I will give one hint as I haven’t seen this one around for awhile – CommodoreZelda)

    • stickfigurefairytales

Hmm, I’ll go with CommodoreZelda at 7, then me and Starr with 6.

      • starr does have 6.

      • I’m going with you three as well. I say you 7, Starr and Zelda 6.

        • ^_^

          • stickfigurefairytales

This has been so much fun. ^_^

        • stickfigurefairytales

          Hooray! Great job!

          • You were very close, but got yourself wrong *lol*

          • stickfigurefairytales

Haha, I kind of lost track around 5.

    • I got Jakk half right by being the first to add him and say 18 or 13 ;-p

(it not being 18 but 13 was actually logic once I started to think about it *lol)

      • stickfigurefairytales

Yep, credit for IDing Jakk definitely goes to you!

  • Sapfo

    Good morning Good people

Thunder ust started here and you are playin games 😀

    • Good morning, Ms. Strawberry.

      • Sapfo

        Evening Lady Armiral Jane!

        • 😀

          • Sapfo

            So 19 V´s!
You been working on your harem dear

          • I may need a bigger harem house. 🙂

    • Morning! Yes, I think we’ve doubled the amount of comments here during camp in out attempt to guess right.

    • Michael

Hi, Sapfo! I just got back from lunch with my grandma. 🙂

  • Congrats to sticky who got starr at 6 and Danish to sticky at 7 and CZ at 6!

This concludes the questions I had prepared. So, any other question about the Vs I will now answer.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Based on the numbers you mentioned earlier, I calculate that there should be 13 people with two to five Vs. Is that right?

      • 2-5 Vs number 23

        • stickfigurefairytales

          Oh wow!

        • stickfigurefairytales

          How many people have 5?

          • one

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Cool! Who is it?

          • Samantha

          • stickfigurefairytales

Aww, I’m sad she hasn’t been around any more.

          • Her last V was on page 10 of Chapt 2

    • That is a LOT of stats to figure out O____O good job on that one! I was finishing (finished!) my fic and now just editing…

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Way to go, Starr!

        • It is just under 10k…. and yes you need to watch Daiya… XD this fic is just a bit filthy at the end

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Nice.

  • Michael

Yay, I made it back in time for some camping!

*makes up a batch of damper with golden syrup*

Won’t take long for the billy to boil.

  • Pyranda

“And i’d throw Mitch off a cliff because he would be okay.”

  • Sarah Lebowicz

    So cute… (-///-)

  • Patrick Proctor

Wait, isn’t this pre-Annihilator incident? I thought no one knew Kyle was gay at this point? I’M CONFUSED!

  • Sylvia B

That is the most adorable face Kyle is making. *squeeeee!*
