You make a fair point, Gun-Toting Mob Lady…

So! Kanya makes Mitch an offer that let’s him stay a superhero and save his friend too. Will he take it? What will it mean if he does? And how much time does Diego actually have left?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

It’s good to see redemption instead of cynicism.

    • Nice catch, Dave. Merely seconds apart 🙂

      • davefragments

        Thanks. I was surprised, too.

        • Holly

I posted and thought I couldn’t have got it. Then I updated and i was still the only post. Then I updated again and it was you Dave. I knew that someone with a Da name would defeat me 😛

          Joking aside, yay dave.

          • LOL.. for a second there I was all ‘Da name’?? Then it sunk in. I’ve never though about that before.
It could easily have been an Ad name instead though. That fellow mod of mine has developed quite the hunting skills too 🙂

          • davefragments

Next Tuesday I will be an “ad” …
I’ll just leave that cryptic remark as a tease and a wink.

    • 23

      • davefragments

        🙂
I catch it when I need it to catch it.
        Good start to a weekend.

        • Chris Dangerfield

I know… Davie “looks” all calm and cool, but he’s lightning fast when it’s important. Lesson #1: Do not ignore the DAVE! (LOL).

          • davefragments

I can be a real pest.
            wink, wink

  • She’s a badass.. but I like her anyway.

  • Holly

HI, I thought I had the virgin for a long time but I did not.

I am happy that she decided to give Mitch a chance. But now how will he learn his darn lesson. I guess we just wait for Alex’s next great twist ^_^

  • Sapfo

    Take him home, save Him

  • Damn straight, lady!

  • So, wait, she doesn’t spill her secret about being a super herself?

  • Sapfo

Looks like this was two pages in one. The last look from mob lady is kind of scary comforting. Thank you mob lady!

  • Saxon_Brenton

Awww. Warm fuzzies. (In a still kinda cynical and corrupt way, of course.)

  • Next day’s news: The Annihalator causes havoc at harbour.

(Hey, that’s how rumors of someone present starts. It could totally happen xD)

    • Holly

Duncan: *shrugs* All press is good press. *Is just a silver fox*

      • Michael

He probably would roll with it, too. It only enhances his reputation.

Plus, if the mob ever were going to start trouble with him… they aren’t now.

  • stickfigurefairytales

    Go Kanya!!

    • Holly

I am really proud of her. And I’m proud of Alex for another complex character.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Yeah!!

      • 🙂

      • Chris Dangerfield

Oh exactly that. She’s A+++ stuff!

  • *hugs Kanya to an inch of her life* You are my *tries to figure it out, gives up* one my favorite people!

    • Holly

*lip wibble* but Doki I thought I was one of your favorite people?!

      • stickfigurefairytales

She said one of – there’s room for several!

      • You are! *hugs*

  • I love how Mitch is just hanging out.. literally.

    • Chris Dangerfield

Mmmmmm… I can read that post so many different (and adorably lubricious) ways. LOL.

  • Frank_821

This side story has been great fun. I love this fleshing out of Flyboy. Can we assume the net one will focus on Fluke or Tsunami

    • Hmm, the options are certainly there. I’d love to see some backstory on either of those too, or any other character. Guess we’ll see what/who’s story Alex comes up with .. in a couple of years, give or take some months 😉

    • Very glad you’ve been enjoying it, Frank! And it would seem like both Fluke and Tsunami are due for their own, huh? 🙂

      • Michael

Forget that, I want more Mitch x Cory goodness. We haven’t even seen them cuddling yet!

On the other hand, I would really like to see how and why Paul and Kyle became such good friends. Were they friends before joining TYP? Did they get kicked off the same intern squad, or share a tragedy, or something?

Really I just want to see Paul as a young teenager wondering why every time he was lucky enough for a girl to notice him, he tripped over his feet or a bird pooped on him or any number of randomly unlucky coincidences that balance out the good luck/bad luck equation that is his life.

      • Klaus

Those dark secrets that Tsunami mentioned during the truth or dare must come out sometime, eh? And why did he choose that name? Tsunamis are extremely powerful, but they are also uncontrolled and purely destructive. They have absolutely no redeeming features.

  • stickfigurefairytales

This was an excellent birthday page. I highly approve.

    • Holly

Happy Birthday Sticky you get REDEMPTION!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        HOORAY!!!!

        • Adam Black

Well, go have the legal amount of fun on your birthday.
( and encrypt the rest )

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Haha, thanks, Adam!!

          • Adam Black

            Birthday Update…

      • Adam Black

Im hoping you get it next .

    • Happy Birthday to you!
      Happy Birthday to you!
      Happy Birthday to you!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thank you, Doki!!! o/

    • Chris Dangerfield

Oh good on YOU! Every birthday survived is a triumph of stamina and attitude in MY book. Wishing you every happiness!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thank you, Chris!!

      • Tyler Griffin

And it means te Drow haven’t outwitted her, YET!

    • Happy birthday, Stick! 🙂

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thank you again, Alex!! 🙂

    • Kate G

      Happy birthday!

    • Michael

      Happy birthday, Stick!

    • Klaus

      Happy birthday.

    • purplefoxglove

Happy Belated!!! I hope you had a great time 🙂

      • stickfigurefairytales

Thank you! I did indeed. 😀

  • Ikaru Sentinal-K’Valshar

Uh….the last panel fills me with foreboding. I don’t trust the mob-cop lady…am I the only one suspicious?

    • Saxon_Brenton

Which means you’re probably being the sensible one. The rest of us seem to be going “Aww, sweet…” when we should be thinking “Wait, is she squirreling away blackmail material?”

    • stickfigurefairytales

I could see it going either way, honestly.

      • Chris Dangerfield

        The stick-oracle speaks the truth!

    • I thought it was just a larger image of panel 3? as it was “outside” the page and this isn’t listed as a double page.

      • davefragments

        wallpaper

    • Heh. That “last panel” was a little glitch of my webcomic software. Fixed!

      • Aha! Now I’m glad that I thought somethig was off, and saved the ‘page’ which in this little wrong showing was the last panel. As in, I just checked my saved file after seeing your comment, and that last big panel that shouldn’t have been there was what was saved as the page. Only that panel. Now I have the ‘wallpaper’ version of that panel 🙂

        • Or rather, the actual page and the panel saved as two different page addresses, depending on where you click to save the image.

      • Chris Dangerfield

        MMMMMMMM…. 😉

  • Saxon_Brenton

Random thought: In role-playing game terms, this is where Flyboy spends an experience point or two, and buys a contact with Kanya as a street-level informant.

    • Chris Dangerfield

I felt the 12-sided dice being rolled just then. THE PROPHECY!

    • Michael

Don’t street informants give you a +2 modifier to CHA and a +3 modifier to WIS and related checks?

In the Daggerfall system it would also give you a boost to Mercantile.

  • bobbyjoeguy

Don’t you mean she gave him an offer he couldn’t refuse? (sorry, had to) (will he refuse???)

    • Chris Dangerfield

Yes, due to “gay reasons.” However, Diego will hunt her down and they will make mad passionate love… although Kanya will be on Top. There is not doubt. LOL.

      • Michael

She probably knows her way around a pair of handcuffs, too.

        • Chris Dangerfield

          The hottest gals do….

          • Michael

True! I’d pity Diego, but he might enjoy it.

  • Tyler Griffin

*Plot Twist* The group of goons is part of the Annihilator’s gang and his crime network, and he knows about all of this. Kanya is one of the sacrifices in the box as a punishment for her actions, and will be used against Mitch if he recovers and attempts anything back in the Main. 😛 Muahahahahahahahahahahaha!

    • Chris Dangerfield

You are a bad bad man… have fun. 😀

    • Klaus
      • Michael

But for the skin tone, she could be the lady in the centre of that panel. Hair’s a little longer, but because the face is turned away we can’t say for certain that it’s a different character.

      • Tyler Griffin

        That’s because it’s a Big reveal 😉

  • Jeldenil

So. Will Kayla change her carreer and become a motivational speaker?

  • Chris Dangerfield

OMG I swear the acting in this story gets better with every page. These expressions are perfect. If Kanya’s last look doesn’t tell you what you need to know, Mitch…… well you’re probably gay. LOL.

I’m so sorry I haven’t had the time to pick apart these pages because every one has been a work of performance art. Meaning… the expressions are beyond extraordinary for this artform. Such applause to Adam and Vero for execution and to Alex for guiding the whole.

Don’t take this wrong… but in the early pages of this story I thought it might be a little “plot-predictable.” You would think I’d learn from the past… but NO. And yes, it is about the young eager young hero who dives in without enough experience, who has a connection with one of the “bad guys” (cory) and screws things up a bit due to inexperience.

But PLOT isn’t really what these last pages have been screaming at me and trust me, despite not having time to write enough to show my appreciation, I have read and loved every page.

The glory of this story is the ACTING. OMG Kanya is amazing her “What The Flipping Heck” expressions are so big sister perfect. Page after page she gives Mitch the LOOK. “Um hello, cutie do you have a clue?” and her looks are perfect. Bravo Adam and Vero. Even with an eye full of black&blue she communicates more in one of her WTF expressions than most comic characters ever do.

Same with Mitch. On page 32 as he readies to go for Cory his face is a series of such emotional expressions. It just screams super hero with doubts and fears and such a desire to do the right thing. It made me all gooey inside.

    http://webcomics.yaoi911.com/typ/ete-flyboy-bonus-page-32/

Then there is not one easy pretty fancy thing about page 33… it’s just hard on Mitch and it shows. Yet it also shows his super hero perseverance. He will not give in. Not give up on his friend.

    http://webcomics.yaoi911.com/typ/ete-flyboy-bonus-page-33/

Next is the payoff. He’s going to get Cory out if it kills him. Remember, he has no idea how to make things right “politically” but he’s going to save his good buddy’s life no matter what. That “BOOM” is so perfect, I squealed.

    http://webcomics.yaoi911.com/typ/ete-flyboy-bonus-page-34/

It goes without mention that all of these pages are artistically superb. The chaos and confusion is so artistically crafted that we FEEL it, but understand it. That is art and craft at its top level. Adam and Vero you should feel nothing but exhaustion (lol) and massive applause for keeping every one of these frames so energetic, chaotic, expressive and yet… understandable. It’s stunning work and your extra effort shows.

I’m so glad this is all part of a graphic novel that will live in perpetuity. Your artwork deserves nothing less.

Now again on page 35. The expressions. THE EXPRESSIONS! OMG. When Cory comes out of his fugue. The look on his face. Fear, confusion, such relief when he see’s it is Mitch… whew.

    http://webcomics.yaoi911.com/typ/ete-flyboy-bonus-page-35/

That shot of them “floating” so brilliantly against the moon. OMG (swoon) and Mitch’s kindness in helping Cory to understand and blast them back to Diego. Superhero… remember? Saving Diego is the real thing (possibly kissing Cory is only the ‘other’ thing. lol)

And now here we are on this page. The girl who is smart, older, more experienced and tougher shows that she’s been thinking. OMG. Thinking. I love Mitch’s confused face. Why would she do this?

I LOVE Kanya’s expressions. Both big sister and getting a good eye-full of a cute super hero. She knows who the good guy is in this scenario and she makes a choice. I swear her “acting” throughout this bonus comic has been beyond outstanding. She is no kind of ‘stock character’ at any point. I can’t think of a character with her dynamic any where. Bravo(a) and serious standing ovations to all three of you artists. Kanya is one to remember.

Thank you so much Alex, Adam and Vero for this set of pages. You’ve raised the bar on performance in a super hero comic very very high. I’m now ruined for all shallow comic performances and it will, obviously, take a nude Spooky to get my attention (*chris looks around to see if anyone is buying it*).

Seriously, this is the good stuff. So, worth paying extra for the premium shot. Thanks all!

    • Well said, sir!

    • Klaus

It is good to have your thoughtful commentary again.

      • Chris Dangerfield

        Very kind, sir. Thanks.

    • Michael

I agree completely, I don’t even know what words to use to express my awe and gratitude at the team’s extraordinary efforts and talents.

“She is no kind of ‘stock character’ at any point. I can’t think of a character with her dynamic any where.”

On that point though, aside from crowd scenes, has there been any “stock characters” with speaking parts at all? I don’t think I could name one. Maaaaybe Hunter and Killer, but I bet they have their own backstories just as intricate and compelling and real as the heroes’.

    • Adam Black

You had me at “nude spooky” .

      • Chris Dangerfield

Excellent… but be honest, how MANY men have had you at “nude spooky?” I’m not ready to feel special yet. 😀

        • Adam Black

Ive only broke into 1 ex lovers house on tequila and he thanked me for it

  • Kate G

O.O That’s my reaction. Kanya sacrificing herself for the greater good? HAS SHE SEEN THE LIGHT?! IS SHE JOINING THE FORCE?! (I mean, the Dark Side is great and all–we all know they have some superior cookies–but has she truly seen the way of the light? REALLY?! I’m not quite convinced.)

Will Diego survive his en plein aire trip to the hospital? Will Mitch and Cory finally confess their feelings? WE WILL SEE. (Come on, we all want a Mitch and Cory snog fest, right? RIGHT?!)

    • Michael

“sacrificing herself”? She was just a passing security guard who saw the fight happening from a couple blocks away, and ran in to check for survivors after the two supervillains had flown off.

      >.>

      <.<

      • Kate G

        >.> <..> >.><..>

  • Airboy Obsessed

    KANYA FEEL THE LOVE TONIIIIIIIIGHT…….

    *sorrynotsorry*

  • Klaus

The list of characters says Cory, Diego, Flyboy, Ivan, Kanya. But Ivan is nowhere to be seen. This list is the same on every page page from page 20 forward. Possibly longer, I did not look further back.

  • Michael

Kanya has just demonstrated that even hardass mob enforcers can be heroes sometimes.

Bless you, you morally conflicted bitch.

  • Am I the only one who caught the heavy hints that Kanya is ExSec?

    • Michael

I think that would be a stretch, unless you mean to suggest that she was ExSec working undercover as part of a mob-bust operation, for which she had to take on the role of low-level security/enforcer and gradually work her way up to bodyguard for the big guys in order to get close enough to get incriminating evidence on the people in power…

Which is also a bit of a stretch, in my opinion.

      • Klaus

As I understand them, ExSec deals only with the superpowered. Why would they expect a super to get involved in this money storage operation?

        • Michael

          that’s why it’s a bit of a stretch.

        • Investigating possible Anni connections? They might be watching/taking care of his money…

          • Michael

That could be an option, but why would Anni need money launderers when he can simply do what he wants? As I understand if from what has been revealed in previous chapters, he didn’t get his reputation by working behind the scenes and dealing with multi-level industrial corruption. He got it by blowing shit up, robbing banks, and causing havoc.

          • Yeah, but Anni has also been “quiet” lately which is why Kyle agreed to go on a date or two with him.

          • Michael

            O.O

            good point

        • Yes, and the CIA doesn’t have any covert operations on American soil.

          • Michael

            That you know about.

          • Michael, that was sarcasm. The CIA is legally barred from acting covertly on American soil, and has to be invited in on overt operations on American soil.

But yeah, there’s been more than enough squawk over the years that has proven they don’t pay attention to that.

          • Michael

My post was also a joke.

      • Okay, here’s the scoop on all that.
        1. She gets pistol whipped and in less than 30 minutes has full facial mobility (won’t happen, trust me).
        2. She gets dropped somewhere several blocks away and then makes it back within mere minutes – she can’t know the neighborhood that well.
        3. She knows who the YP are, understands the legality of acting without supervision, and has enough knowledge of super abilities to be surprised at Mitch’s powers “quirks” (you have to admit, touch-based gravity negation is rather unique).
        4. She seems to understand how crazy Spooky is.
        5. She doesn’t take hardly any damage from being in the maelstrom (sorry, but Mitch isn’t that good. (And she’s wondering if he got hurt?)

Then we have her cryptic little comments, such as “Oh, I called people, alright. My people. They’ll get you all sorted out.” (even the two super-powered kids?) “You being a superhero is the right thing.” (that’s an authoritative judgement call for a “lowly security guard”) “I’m a straight-up gal who works for bad people” (and I think the consensus through all of this is that ExSec aren’t a bunch of angels, what hey?)

As far as the “lowly security guard”, it’s a lot easier to do that than risk a traditional stake-out that could be spotted. She’d know the comings-and-goings, delivery times (often in advance!), who seems to be more in charge than others, etc. And if some recording devices get found, who’s going to suspect the security guard (especially considering organized crime’s opinion of women in the first place)?

        • Michael

Ah, that’s positing that she may be a super in the employ of ExSec, which is different from suggesting merely that she may be connected to ExSec.

I’ll agree there are hints that may be interpreted to suggest super powers, but it’s about the same quality of evidence as exists for that “Jar Jar Binks was a Sith Lord” theory.

          • Cydney Sabin

Honestly, the only real issue I had with the Jar Jar theory is the fact that Sidious followed the Rule of Two religiously, which means that Jar Jar couldn’t have been a Sith Lord. At most, he would’ve been a Sith Hand.

I don’t think Kanya is a super, but I do believe she’s more than just a simple security guard. It’s entirely possible that she is; I just don’t believe she is, as I haven’t seen any evidence beyond her remarkable resilience to damage. Obviously, though, she’s more than she seems. She seems to know about the “underage superheroes can’t save people without specific permission” rule. That alone made me start thinking. My guess would be that yes, she’s a mole for ExSec.

          • Klaus

Maybe she is just a superhero fan? She knows of the Young Protectors. We don’t know how famous they are. I would expect the “real” super heroes to get most of the spotlight. She does not recognize Mitch, even when she notices the YP logo. She asks if he is with the YP. She does not say “Oh, you are Flyboy!”

          • Michael

The biggest issue I have with the Jar Jar theory is that it requires for George Lucas to be remarkably more intelligent and subtle than he is, and far less driven towards pandering to marketability and the children demographic.

As one commenter put it, it requires for George Lucas to be a genius mastermind, not a “good natured fool” wanting to cash in on marketable mascots from which toys can be made.

          • You know that George just announced that R2D2 is trans, right?

          • Adam Black

All Robots with gender would be trans by defintion.
But i didnt think R2d2 had a gender.

          • Michael

I thought Disney barred him from having creative control over future movies?

How does a robot (other than sex robots and human analogues or cyborgs) have a gender, anyway?

          • Cydney Sabin

That’s probably why it was never revealed. He realized everyone hated Jar Jar, so he couldn’t market the idea that he was a villain all along.

          • Michael

Half of the evidence for this theory comes from movies 2 and 3, why would George put that in if he’d abandoned the plotline after the audience reception to movie 1? Why abandon that idea only halfway through movie 3? Why include Jar Jar at all in movies 2 and 3, if he was that afraid of audience reactions as to abandon a substantial part of the story because Jar Jar was unpopular?

          • Cydney Sabin

Who knows? This IS George Lucas we’re talking about.

          • Michael

Hence the counter-argument that the theory hinges on George Lucas being very clever.

          • Cydney Sabin

            Clever? Maybe. Unpredictable? Definitely.

          • Adam Black

It makes total sense that was originally written to be a villain and he was changed.

        • Klaus

Why can’t she know the neighbourhod well? She works there.

        • Adam Black

I think these are just Alex’s plot-holes, But your explanation is to so thorough that I’m almost convinced.

    • Connor

I’m not convinced this theory is right, but I am convinced I like it.

  • bronakopdin

I know why I liked that woman from the beginning 🙂
so now it’s cleared that Mitch will also take Cory with him and probably will get out of the trouble quite easily 😀
now let’s just hope he somewhat learns his lesson from all of this!
Still wondering why Cory never said he wanted to accompany his bro to the hospital! Well maybe he’s still somehow in shock?

  • Nate

Lovely facial expressions on this one. My kudos.

I just hope she doesn’t run into Amanda.

  • Hey, Alex I just got a very interesting email saying that somebody has my personal information from the Patreon hack and unless I pay them money, they are going to publish it.

I can’t find anywhere on the Patreon site to notify the admins about this.

    • Mikey

I’d been dreading some sort of e-mail like that. I closed my account as soon as I heard about the hack. Sorry to hear this is happening to you

      • Oh, it’s fake. “he” is claiming that he has information off Patreon that Patreon never had.

        • Mikey

Oh, there it is. Chilling in my spam folder, he wants a bitcoin from me. How sweet.

          • Yep. Except Patreon doesn’t ask for an SSN, “he” thinks an SSN and a tax ID are two different things, Patreon does not issue tax forms and patrons don’t give them to Patreon, credit card numbers are stored separately, in a heavily encrypted manner (which, incidentally, wasn’t hacked), and Patreon does not ask for a date of birth.

And that’s only the start of the mistakes in that thing.

          • Yikes! Good to know anyway that someone is trying to use the hack to get money out of people. I’ll email Alex right away, so he can tell them. They better send out a mail to warn people.

          • I did get a response from Patreon this morning, so they are aware of it. And yes, they agreed that the content is nothing but lies.

          • Is it from “Gavin”?

          • One bitcoin is currently trading at $326.63. Little twit thinks he’s got it made.

      • You didn’t need to delete the account. All you needed to do was change the password. I did that the moment I got the notification.

    • Hey Mik!

As you noted below, this appears to be a fake, someone trying to take advantage of the publicity around the hack that happened back in early October. It’s good that you reached out to Patreon (you mention getting a response below), so they can warn folks about these fake emails.

As you noted, Patrons don’t actually tell Patreon things like their date of birth or social security number. (I had to share my SSN as a creator, because I will get a tax form, but of course, Patrons don’t need to supply that.) And all credit card information is securely encrypted using professional third-party payment services, so Patreon doesn’t even have them.

So, if anyone gets one of these emails, you should just ignore it.

Thanks for the heads up, Mik! 🙂

      • Glad to help. I found it funny, and a bit sad. I was seriously thinking about posting the full text of the email and my reply to Facebook. I think it my new mission in life to embarrass the living crap out of “Gavin”.

      • davefragments

Patreon sent an email today telling their users about it. They have told the Feds about this.

        • Chris Dangerfield

Yep thanks guys. I got the Patreon email also!

  • Abyssdoor

I may be the only one expecting her to shoot Cory once Flyboy is a reasonable distance away…

    • Klaus

She just told Flyboy to take Cory with him. Which he should have done anyway.

  • Can’t possibly express how cool that was. Two points for Anne Franke.

  • Dennis Grace

    Sweet.

  • Jonni

The thing I love most about superheros is their potential to inspire good in others.

  • fujoshifanatic

Yay for Security Girl doing the right thing for Mitch and friends! Hopefully they will get Diego some help in time, and maybe Mitch will get a smooch in gratitude? *crosses fingers*. Just found my Kickstarter email with all those yummy digital rewards (oh, Spooky! Gordon!!!), and I am so excited that I will be able to look out for that stuff to come my way soon! By then I’ll have my GRE scores back, and be finishing up my grad school applications, so I’ll have even more to look forward to in the mail. 😀

  • Jason Moon

If she reneges, he is MASSIVELY screwed… (That’s a huge vote of trust to give to someone you just met)

    • Well, I think it would result in a “life lesson” of sorts if she does, but Mitch was already resigned to being in trouble over this. So it pretty much comes down to him getting into the trouble he thought he was in the first place with a small reprieve thinking he wouldn’t get in trouble at all. Though it is a lot of trust to put in one person, I would expect Mitch to be mildly jumpy for awhile after this expecting something to happen despite Kanya’s promise. One never knows what curve balls life will throw at one. At least Mitch will be moderately prepared and will probably talk to Amanda and Spooky at the soonest opportunity so they are aware of the potential fall out and can make “just in case” plans.

      • Jason Moon

Mitch hasn’t actually said “yes”, yet. (Everyone seems to be jumping to the conclusion that he will, though)

        • Well he doesn’t have much choice and Diego is running out of time…

    • Klaus

What has he got to lose?

  • Pinkfeiry

    this woman is awesome!

  • I have to say that Mr. Dangerfield is absolutely correct when he says the acting by these characters is phenomenal. Expressions, body language, they always express exactly what the characters mean, what they’re saying. You can look at hem and sense the force of their life.

    • Chris Dangerfield

Thanks. There is something particularly about Kanya that grabs me. She’s not created as a traditional “Disney Princess Pretty” but there is something beautiful about her and her strength and her attitude. Call me crazy (as I know some of you will), but she’s special.

Kudos again on making a secondary character in a secondary story be so amazing. Kanya’s look, acting, role, behavior is so “real-world” that it grounds flying cute boys and dudes who create tornadoes. They are all wonderful, but she is extra special. 🙂

      • If you’re crazy then I am too, because I have the same feelings about Kanya.

  • Johndar

“Kid, you still being a superhero is definitely something right.”

Oh god I’m crying, this is too heartwarming, AH!

  • Pikinanou

Do what she says, Mitch! Don’t ask questions!

  • Klaus

That is a good finishing line. Can we get back to the main stary now?

    • Michael

One one hand I agree, this story has concluded. On the other hand, I still want to see Mitch and Cory cuddle.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Alex’s notes seem to suggest that there is at least a little bit more before we’ll be heading back to the main storyline.

  • MoonByte

    Lady, YOU are AWESOME.

  • Rachel Glenn

Hey, you’ve got a problem on your ‘next’ button on page 35, it keeps looping on that page, and says there haven’t been any more pages updated since said page.

    • I noted Alex. Thank you for mentioning it.

      • Rachel Glenn

        Awesome. 😀

        • Hi.
I heard back from Alex. It’s a browser caching issue where the cahe can take a while to catch up. Clearing your cache and/or refreshing the page a few times should make it work. That or checking via another browser.

  • davefragments

I had to go to the supermarket today.
Save me from the crowds, TYP, save me from the crowds.
I need a TYP fix tonight.

    • Saxon_Brenton

Weeelll… It’s not too crowded around the camp site, yet.
Here, sit down, have a drink, and dip some of these freshly cooked virtual churros in chocolate. I have all four types: dark, milk, white, and fluroescent technicolour plaid chocolate.

      • davefragments

I’m allergic to chocolate, unfortunately. Don’t feel bad for me. I live happily without chocolate.
My brother had 4 kids and I used to go to my Mother’s house to help. That meant leaving Tuesday to take her to the supermarket. Helping her starting cook on Wednesday. Making half the food on Thanksgiving and then taking the kids, my Aunt and my Mother out shopping on Black Friday and Saturday and if they didn’t get enough for Christmas, on Sunday too. Then home and on Monday back to work. But time passes and they all have kids themselves now.
This year, I am thankfully hiding in my house and cooking three pounds of stuffing for myself and later that very bloated night, moaning myself to sleep. I will leave my dirty dishes for Friday, maybe Saturday.

        • Michael

Sounds like a fun plan. Here in Aus we don’t celebrate thanksgiving, but three pounds of stuffing followed by bloated sleep-moaning sounds like a heck of a night.

In case you were wondering, our Christmases (mentioned because it is the nearest food-holiday we have to Thanksgiving with which to compare menus) are usually quite different to American Christmases too. Cold cuts of ham, pork, and chicken wings, steamed prawns on ice, spicy fruit-rice, various salads, and barbecued sausages, hamburgers and kebab skewers; washed down with sparkling apple juice, beer, white wine, or tropical fruit punch.

Followed by plum pudding ice cream (not plum pudding “and” ice cream, this is ice cream with plum pudding mixed into it and refrozen), Lions Club fruit cake, and a variety of little cakes and slices.

          • Saxon_Brenton

While all of this is basically true for my family get-togethers over Christmas-summer break, I will add that we have a problem with the cat’s addiction to prawns. With the dogs they just sit beside the table and beg for scraps. The cat vociferously demands his prawns, and has been known to occasionally chase people around the house in order to get his fix.

          • Michael

Prawns are love. Your cat is right to chase down his share.

My dog loves tasty cheese, but only gets the scraps that fall to the floor when I’m making something with a packet of shredded cheese, because it’s not good for her.

    • Michael

I went to the supermarket once. It was awful.

Graphics weren’t bad, but the NPC AI was terrible, and if you’re looking for something in particular you have to actually look at each thing instead of just running a search or scrolling through a list.

      • davefragments

They rearranged the store a month ago. Corporate decision. It was supposed to make your shopping experience faster and easier. HAH! Nobody can find anything. Whole families searching the aisles for Bacon Bits. Nobody in the paper products and every old person (be careful with those jokes) in site store staring at the cereal boxes…

        • Michael

We had the same thing with a “merchandise supermarket” (not sure what to call those?), Kmart. (different store/business to your Kmart, Kmart Australia is independent of the American Kmart). They rearranged everything, changing from neat rows if isles and easily visible sections that you could find from the other end of the store, to a maze of visibility-obscuring posters and signposts, meandering one-way lanes instead of aisles, and the cashiers are at the opposite end of the store to the doors, with only one and the entrance/exit to check for people shoplifting products between the registers and the exit.

In short, a nasty risky mess where nothing is easy to find or get to and most but not all people with bags, including shopping bags that you just got from the registers, are treated as potential criminals because of the new layout.

          • davefragments

This is a chain supermarket and Corporate wanted ALL of them to look the same (ah, the tedium of a small mind) so that the customer’s shopping experience was the same in every store they could possible enter.

And people wonder why DILBERT is still a success!

          • Michael

I wouldn’t mind for each store to have its own flavour/style, give the managers/franchise-owners a bit of creative flair, so long as the products they sell are the same and the same price, and relatively easy to find.

        • Cydney Sabin

Pretty sure it’s never to make shopping faster. They do it so that you can’t just run in and grab what you need. They force you to walk around more so that you’ll see other things and hopefully buy them.

          • davefragments

THat’s the management theory. I once helped write a performance measurement system for where I worked. After we wrote the plan, i read this Dilbert book: Our plan was in it, almost word for word in whole sections. IT was amazing.
            http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0887308589

          • Michael

Wait, how did your productivity report make it into a Dilbert book? (I’ve read that, by the way, it’s a pretty good book)?

          • davefragments

We wrote before the book came out. I would like to say that great minds think alike but in this case, a Division Director and I decided that bureaucratic minds think in the same porcelain receptacles … like the guy who invented the urinal cake. (we laughed so hard at dilbert that we echoed down the hallways in a very undignified episode.)

          • Michael

so, coincidence? If something is “almost word for word”, I would suspect somebody close to the author had access to your report.

          • davefragments

Einstein called it “spooky entanglement at a distance” …

        • As someone who used to work in a grocery store, it is just as rough on us. I cannot count all the times I had to ask a stocker where things were, because they would be the ones most familiar where everything now is because they are usually the ones that do the hard work or moving everything. Having to run down a stocker to find something you need to make something for a customer can be stressful because you are consciously aware of how much time you are taking = how much longer they have to wait. And not all customers are nice about it.

          • davefragments

The employees know me and know that I need some assistance and they are wonderful.
All of these complaints are about corporate management.

          • My coworkers and I agreed that they do that just to screw us over and make everyone miserable.

    • I feel your pain. I feel your pain. Had to go myself today. Blarg! Holiday shopping is terrible.

  • Michael

    Quiet here today. Where’s everyone?

    • stickfigurefairytales

      I just arrived myself.

    • Doki is in the process of moving things that won’t fit back into her bedroom. So at some point Doki is going to have to unplug her computer to get that done. -_- Doki is annoyed at having to do this.

      • stickfigurefairytales

Nooo, having to unplug computer and lose Doki (even if only briefly)!!

      • Michael

        I hope the move is managed between updates! Page Day just wouldn’t be the same without you. ;__;

    • Stuffing my face with tacos

      • Michael

A worthy way to pass time.

        • Indeed!

          • Michael

I’ve been ranting about an essay about the use of weapons in fantasy, in which the writer said that a steak knife was more versatile than a swiss army knife.

five minutes of typing later, it occurs to me that there are steak knives in existence that do not have serrations. I’ve never seen or used one, but they exist.

  • davefragments

    oooppsss

  • ‘Morning from here. Feels like it came too soon.

  • Michael

    Patreon movement!

    • davefragments

Did I do a Rip Van Winkle and wake up on April 1st?

      • Michael

Only the truly faithful can see it.

        It is amazing.

        • davefragments

You mean, I’m only a muggle?

          • Michael

Maybe not a muggle, but you might be a mug 😛

especially if you are participating reluctantly in Australian sports.

  • Derkins

Was so close to being a picture of what Gordon predicted, yet here he is, saving the day by himself, narrowly escaping getting caught, and being the only person who can save his friend from the likely fate of becoming a villain, as I was talking about a few pages back. Save the boy from himself, reflecting the “higher form” of hero we all credit Mitch for. Given, this was a whole lot messier and more dangerous than it should’ve been, and he needs to seriously reconsider his tactics. Yay for the security guard! I kinda wanna give her a hug o.o
