The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Flyboy Bonus Comic—Page 20

212 Comments on The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Flyboy Bonus Comic—Page 20

Yikes. Cory looks really pissed in Panel 2. I might dial it down a notch if I were you, Ivan…

I had an absolutely amazing time at YaoiCon 2015 this weekend! It was so awesome to get to see (and hang out with!) so many of you, including GryphonGirl, Starrwinter, PuzzleSavant, Sapfo, and of course, awesome mod DanishWolf who I got to see in person for the very first time! Everytime I get a chance to chat with y’all in person, it just makes it even clearer what a wonderful, amazing community of folks we have here. I am so honored that you are interested in the stories we are putting out there. And I can’t wait to see y’all again soon! 😀

Over at the Patreon page, Patrons have really been loving Flyboy’s Romance Card art! New comments have included “So cute!  *GLOMP*”, and “They really captured his sweetness and his unquenchable spirit and even his baggy shorts and the mess… is pure teenage dude. This is a wonder capture of Mitch at his sweetest.” Here’s another sneak peek at the boy everyone is talking about:

AMW_Comics_TYP-ETE-Romance-Card-FLYBOY-Preview

So, I’ve decided to also send out a high-res version of this Flyboy art with double the resolution to $10+ Patrons. This will be in addition to the high-res Full Monty Spooky Jones art I’m already going to be sending out to $10+ backers for this month once payments clear!

There are lots of great benefits to being a Patron (you can see them all here along with an explanation of what the heck Patreon is), and you’d really be helping me out if you became one too. If you’re enjoying our work here and would like to see it continue (and would like to get access to all kinds of special benefits),

please take a moment to watch the video on my Patreon page and consider becoming a Patron.

So, things are heating up! Ivan is whipping his big gun this way and that, Cory is now in the line of fire, and Flyboy is doing all he can to keep this bad boy from pulling the trigger! Is Cory going to get shot? Will he be able to protect himself with his massive telekinetic powers? Will Flyboy be able to talk Ivan down? And what the heck is Diego going to do with the birthday gift he bought for Ivan?!

Tune in this Saturday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • stickfigurefairytales

Or you could not shoot anyone!

    • Congratz.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thank you! <3

  • The hero has spoken!

  • stickfigurefairytales

Also, wouldn’t a gunshot wound to the groin be very likely to cause him to bleed to death?

    • davefragments

Yes, Lots of major blood vessels down there.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Like the femoral arteries.

        • davefragments

The Vena Cava and the Aorta. Plus a few others.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Oh wow, I didn’t realize they ran that far down the torso.

          • davefragments

It’s the hip bones, splinter them and the fractured pieces do nasty things to your innards. I’m not great on anatomy but as I recall the image, the Vena Cava and Aorta split into the two femoral after they feed the kidneys.
I also have had discussion with people about “self-castration” and that part of a man’s anatomy has unbelievable ample blood supply. It’s hydraulic like a piston and takes lots of blood. Projectiles, knives, bone shards are really dangerous down there.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Yeesh!

          • davefragments

            Good word to describe it.

          • Tyler Griffin

Wait! What sort of conversations are you having that involve self castration?!?!?!?! This sounds like some real kink here.

          • davefragments

I have some friends who are trans and some friends who consider that testosterone has burdened and hurt their lives. In the first case it’s BIID (body dysmorphia) and the second, it is their desire to live without.

  • davefragments

This is a talk festival of sheer stupidity. Who wants what and why and how much they want and and don’t shoot him and if you move wrong …
The pain is too much, Too much talk. Too much talk.
I want to curl up in a corner and whimper softly while they decide what to do.
Maybe bang my head off the floor. That might feel better.

  • Um… whipping his big gun around… o.O

    • stickfigurefairytales

Looks more average-sized to me. Maybe a little on the small side.

      • But but it’s still being whipped this way and that!

        • stickfigurefairytales

And I wouldn’t be surprised if he tends to get too excited and fire it off prematurely.

          • Indeed!

          • Cydney Sabin

I’m of the opinion that he must be compensating for something.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            And Flyboy’s bodysuit can’t be helping Ivan’s self-image, either.

          • davefragments

            Double yes!

          • davefragments

            yes,
If we’re really, really mean, we can say very small, tiny even.

          • Tyler Griffin

probably has an unacceptable reload time as well

        • Michael

Reminds me of that great song by Willow Smith:

I whip my gun back and forth
I whip my gun back and forth
I whip my gun back and forth
I whip my gun back and forth
          (x10)

truly a work of lyrical genius.

      • Tyler Griffin

They always think it’s bigger than it actually is.

  • davefragments

Tomorrow, is the first day of FALL.
Summer has gone and left us!

    • Not that there was much summer. At least not here. It was a bit spotty.

      • davefragments

Too much rain in June and July and then hot and dry in August. The corn crop around here is lousy. The hay for horses is pathetic.
And worst of all, my neighbor’s group lost all the good cabbage for their yearly Sauerkraut Festival. I don’t participate in the Festival. I have more respect (think fear of dying) for my tummy.

        • It was mostly cold in July. August warmed up, but not as much as it usually would. Then we had several rounds of rain. Sept is up and down like usual.

          Definitely weird.

      • Klaus

In the words of Storm P:

        “What a cold summer.”
“Yes, but fortunately it will soon be over.”

      • Michael

Down south, we didn’t have much in the way of winter, but our summer is going to be seriously severe.

        • I live in the desert, so usually summer for us is 105+ degrees(f). I think we had may be a handful of days over 100. Most of July was down right chilly in the mid to upper 80’s. And August, usually our hottest month offered hardly a showing with just being in the mid 90’s. Sept. seems to be on course, up and down, up and down.

  • blkwhtrbbt

Psychic his gun away. Jerk his arms straight down so his shots go wild into the concrete. I mean dude. You can rip away walls. This man has threatened you and yours. Fuck him up.

    • Michael

We don’t think he has enough control to do that without also hurting Diego and himself. I mean, instead of busting open a door, he removed the entire side of the building and a large part of the roof.

      • Tyler Griffin

So, you wouldn’t recommend him to do your circumcision?

    • Klaus

Shooting into concrete is not safe. There was a case here some time ago when a guest at a wedding party fired his pistol into the “air” in the recption room to celebrate. Ricochets from the concrete ceiling killed one guest and injured several.

Obviously this guest was from another culture. In these parts shooting actual bullets is not used as a means of celebration.

      • Columbine

Yeah that’s usually an open-air thing. At weddings and stuff. I guess it’s what happens when you’ve got massive gun ownership and no alcohol? *shrugs*

      • Tyler Griffin

        IT IS HERE IN ‘MURICA!

  • Danny

Poor, poor Ivan. What’s a dishonest, up-and-coming villain to do when the hostages just won’t cooperate with his agenda?

On a less sarcastic note, I wonder how many rounds he has left in his gun?

    • stickfigurefairytales

Your last question is giving me hilarious flashbacks to the movie Clue.

      • Danny

Really? I haven’t seen the movie Clue, although it’s on my Netflix list (if Netflix hasn’t deleted it).

        • stickfigurefairytales

Ooh, I highly recommend it, although I do have some major issues with one of the endings. (It has three different endings/culprits, which is fun.)

          • Danny

Really? That does sound interesting. The movie is based off of the game by the same name, right?

          • Yes, yes it is.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            That’s right! It’s a murder mystery/comedy.

          • Danny

Sounds good. Now I just hope Netflix didn’t remove it.

          • davefragments

And lots of “guess the celebrity” disguises.

    • Michael

I tried to work it out a while back, he’s fired 3 rounds so far, so assuming a modern peestol with a full magazine, he probably has around 13 shots left. :/

      • stickfigurefairytales

“So that’s one shot for the chandelier, two at the lounge door, one for the singing telegram girl…”

    • Klaus

      Even Ivan does not know.

  • I must confess… Now I ship Mitch and Cory. Dear God, I ship almost everybody in this comic… All cracked. LOL

    • stickfigurefairytales

I have some very good news for you about Mitch’s first kiss…

      • WHAAAT? Tell me more, tell me more… *_*

        • Michael

          Did they get very far?
Tell me more, tell me more,
Like does he have a car?

          uh-huh, uh-huh…

          • Tyler Griffin

            Thank you for that. 🙂

        • stickfigurefairytales

Check out the big picture on the bottom right of this photo: http://alexwoolfson.tumblr.com/post/129446132208/ready-for-day-2-at-booth-1-at-yaoicon-d

That’s the art for Mitch’s first kiss card. ^_^

          • OMG!!!! I should’ve noticed that before… Shame on me!
PS: I want ALL the artworks. T^T

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Me too! <3

          • Zeruk

            Omg! THANK YOU FOR THAT
            LINK! Those images are beautiful…

I shall now offer you one free wish. owo

    • Yay! 😀

(And my work here is done.

      Or perhaps, just begun………)

      • Michael

yes your work has only just begun.

don’t stop now, there’s still so many ships that have not yet seen the light of day!

    • Michael

My shipping web is Cory x Mitch x Spooky (because of Amanda’s daydream in ToD) x Kyle x Paul

And, running parallel, Anaado x Spooky x Amanda.

      Only one question remains…

      BUT WHO WAS PHONE SENPAI?

    • Tyler Griffin

I just ship everybody with everybody. Except Gordon. Gordon can have cold showers for life. Everyone else is just down for whatever, whoever is free at the moment 😛

  • davefragments

    Unrelated — A Papal note:
My Aunt lived in New York and lived at 42nd Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues. That is across 1st avenue from the United Nations. The Pope will speak at the opening of the UN. World leaders will speak at the opening of the UN.
RIGHT NOW IN NYC – every mailbox within ten blocks of the path or diplomats and Pope Francis are being picked up. Every drop box, every newspaper holder, every garbage bin, anything on the streets that might conceal anything is being removed. The drunks and vagrants are being removed and relocated, too. No Sleeping in doorways or on grates. All hot dog carts are being removed, all food trucks, And then, as My Aunt used to say, the authorities will simply shut down the streets and let the motorcades move without anyone else on the road.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Wow. That’s all I can think of to say.

      • davefragments

First time I heard about all this was back when Reagan was President. My Aunt never drove. She was happy to walk or take the subway.
This week will be insane in NYC and Philadelphia.
Washington DC is a circus anyway…

    • Danny

That sounds like a transit nightmare. Also, are they planning on giving the mail boxes back?

      • davefragments

Oh yes, They bring them back. Trash cans too. It’s the sanitation workers job.

        • Danny

I hope they’re getting paid overtime for that.

          • davefragments

No. It’s written into their contracts as part of NYC’s operating plans. That place is an insane asylum.

          • Danny

Wow. Like stickfigurefairytales, that’s all I can say.

          • davefragments

The UN buildings opened in 1952 and every year the opening week hosts world leaders speaking to the General Assembly. It’s a predictable and budget-able event for security purposes.

    • Michael

Hey, instead of hiding the homeless from sight, why not give them shelter? That’s what Pope Francis would prefer, I think.

Oh yes, let’s prepare for a visit from one of the world’s most prominent campaigners for compassion for the poor, by shuffling the poor and homeless out of sight and pretending there is no problem.

      • davefragments

I agree. I don’t know where they are moving the homeless. I only know that they do that.

        • Michael

they’re not the only city that does that, though, and that’s the saddest/most shameful bit. It’s accepted practice to shepherd your tired, your poor, and your huddled masses into makeshift tents and shelters for the duration of some event, and then just dump them back on the streets when the visitors have gone.

          • davefragments

That is the confrontation of materialism and spiritualism. It’s very much in the minds of people in the world today.

      • Columbine

Different country but I live down the road from a shelter. Running into homeless people fairly regularly makes me wonder why people seem to be scared of them. They’ve mostly been a little weird, but like everyone else they treat you with the respect you show them.

        • Michael

Agreed, a smile and friendly nod seems to work with just about anyone. Down here we add a quiet “g’day”, but that’s not always necessary.

          • Columbine

One of em asked me for a light once and seemed to get the idea from my hoodie and the fact I stopped to chat that I was also homeless. He just wouldn’t let go of the idea and kept recommending the shelter down the road. It was kinda sweet in an odd way.

      • Tyler Griffin

Actually in a bit of news that I am finding gleeful joy in. It seems that Boehner and Pelosi, the conservative and liberal party eaders in congress respectively, have joined together on what I think is the ONLY bipartisan decision that’s been made all year. Which was to have a really big fancy lunch for/with the Pope today after his address to congress. You know, one of those all out 5 star deals with actual gold flatware and courses of things that can’t be pronounced. Well, the Pope declined the invitation. Told them he already had plans for lunch today. He’s going to be working (WORKING not just visiting) a soup kitchen, giving the Holy “fuck you” to their little show. I have giggled on and off all morning after reading that.

  • I’d just like the point out that Mitch is the ONLY PERSON adhering to the safety-goggle OHS standards very clearly up there on the wall. Not one person is wearing a hard hat. Guys. Safety first.

    • davefragments

      It’s the bugs that hurt.

      • Tyler Griffin

        and catch in the throat

    • 🙂

  • Ivan’s intelligence is sinking lower and lower.

    • Michael

He wanted to take on the Mob with one reluctant partially- or un-trained super-powered teenager, and a stolen gun with no spare ammo.

I don’t think his intelligence is sinking, so much as being given an audience.

      • Well he’s proving himself more and more the baboon.

        • Tyler Griffin

“I am a Wizard waving a wand, not a baboon brandishing a branch”

          • Ha! But I think in this instance, it is indeed a baboon brandishing the branch…er gun.

  • Marcus Dionte Scott

What the fuck is with Ivan and his obsession with gastrically and testicularly placed bullets?! Like what were you doing that made you connect the two, you murderer-to-be? Were you watching tea-bagging porn that was interrupted by an NRA commercial and decided, “Hellz yeah! Let’s bust a nut…with some lead!”?

    • Probably the only places he can name. Or he thinks they make him sound badass.

      • Marcus Dionte Scott

Probably to be intimidating, but I am waiting for one of the two powered individuals to just Sharkeisha the bastard!

        • He’s not a bright individual. Lots of compensating.

        • Michael

My money’s on Diego going for the rugby tackle from the side while Ivan’s head is turned away and the gun is pointing down.

    • davefragments

      Ego.
His gun is a phallic symbol just like a red sports car.

  • davefragments

They are talking themselves into stalemate until some outside force disturbs the delicate balance of words.

    • Klaus

      Stable?

      • davefragments

Well, that’s an orbital mechanics of things go around and around without end.
That was more my thought — they are at the point of endlessly talking in circles. However, some disruption is going to change that from stable bloviating blather and chit-chat and (in the simile) turn them into crashing planets.

        • Klaus

My impression that Ivan is anything but stable. He will not be kept talking long even without outside interference.

          • davefragments

            I think you are right.

  • Michael

That’s right, Ivan, keep looking away from the people you were recently holding at gunpoint…

This dude seriously needs to take some night school courses in diplomacy. At the very least he needs a copy of How To Win Friends And Influence People.

    • Tyler Griffin

Barring that, a copy of the Evil Overlord’s list would not go amiss.

      • Michael

We don’t want him being a more effective villain, do we? That would be counter-productive.

        • stickfigurefairytales

          Agreed!

  • Klaus

Is Anaado a minor? What is the age of consent in hell anyway?

    • Connor

Pretty sure that the legal system of Hell isn’t very concerned with little things like ‘consent.’

      • Michael

Or, come to that, ‘legal systems’.

        • Columbine

Oh I dunno. Legal tangles can cause their own kind of hellishness-

          • Michael

I believe that’s bureaucracy, not legality.

          • Columbine

            *slow clap*

          • Michael

Did you file the appropriate Request To Initiate Slow Clap form?

          • Columbine

XD You’re trying to make me laugh til it hurts ain’t you?

          • Michael

No, I haven’t received my Approval for Witnessing and Notarisation of my triplicate Application to Receive Documentation Relating to the Request To Induce Laughter In Another Person form. Once I get that and my application is witnessed, notarised, filed, and approved, I will be eligible to receive the paperwork necessary to apply for a single-use Permit granting me the right to Induce Laughter In Another Person, subject to and pending council approval.

          • Michael

Oh darn, I just realised, the Request To Induce Laughter In Another Person is NOT the same form as the Registration Of Intent To Cause Thoracic Discomfort By Way Of Excessive Induced Laughter In Another Person form, so even once my Request To Induce Laughter In Another Person is approved I have to start the whole process over again to file the correct form.

          • Tyler Griffin

Michael, you would do well in Asmodeus’s ranks…

          • Michael

I was more thinking Astfl’s hell, as see in Terry Pratchett’s Faust Eric

          • Columbine

            You’re awesome. Have a chilli.

          • Michael

“a” chilli? As in freshly picked from the bush, chilli? An odd sort of prize.

          • Columbine

My plant has just started producing chillis. As a result all prizes will be chillis until there are no more chillis. They are yellow.

          • Michael

ah, I see. Is this the same sort of thing that people with lemon trees go through? At one point I had three different people giving me bags of lemons. Two lemon meringue tarts, a 2-litre jug of lemonade, and about two jars of lemon curd later, I still had about 40 lemons left.

That was three months ago, now I have a dozen lemons, three jars of lemon curd, and a few ice cube trays filled with lemon juice in the freezer.

          • Columbine

I don’t have enough space for trees so I don’t really know. I’m apparently English enough to attempt to garden a 2nd floor flat though. (Two kinds of herbs, sweet peppers, chilli peppers)

          • stickfigurefairytales

I’m afraid that form can only be filed at the Office of Intent to Cause Minor Discomfort – Torso and Abdomen Division, which is open every alternate Thursday from 8:37 to 8:36am, unless the date is a multiple of three.

          • Michael

Unless you file the appropriate Request For After-Hours Operation Of Office Of Intent To Cause Minor Discomfort – Torso And Abdomen Division at least three days but not more than four days before the second Blueberry Pie Day of each month at the Hell’s Kitchen Bakery And Patisserie, having had it signed and witnessed in quintriplicate by an authorised Clerk of the aforementioned Office beforehand. In which case you will be able to access the office’s services from the hours of 8:40am to 8:47:36am on the aforementioned alternate Thursdays, having booked an appointment by phone and included your receipt number of the filing of the Request For After-Hours Operation and the names and contact details of at least three character references.

          • Tyler Griffin

Not true, Devils are Lawful Evil, so they are ALL about some legality, and bureaucracy, but to them that’s splitting hairs. The Nine Hells is built on the concepts of Law and Punishement. Now DEMONS on the othr hand, that’s Chaos your dealing with… Wait, is my D&D showing again?

Anyway, always remember, Devils want to corrupt you, Demons want to destroy you.

          • Columbine

Your D&D is totally showing 😛

  • Jeldenil

Haha, as a mom of two 4-years old, the sentence ï’m a superhero’ couldn’t be more cute.

    • Michael

      Awwww.

Fortunately for you, that’s just make believe. For Mitch, it’s dangerously and painfully real.

  • Alex, it was so awesome to meet you too 🙂 I got my promised hug, and a couple more. Also nice to meet your BF… he made an awesome Spooky in cosplay. So happy I got to see that and the new merch. Wish we could have had a little more time to talk, but so much was going on, and we were busy.
That will have to be next time… when I manage to make it to another con (have a small hope for next year).

A big him all of us.

    • Michael

OMG, Alex’s BF was in Spooky cosplay? I must see this.

      • Yes he was, during the saturday only, and a VERY good one. He actually does recemblance Spooky, and he had the trenchcoat and Spooky cap (the prototypy cap), anmd he had practiced the tyupical Spooky pose – where he’s standing with hands on his sides. I had an OMG moment when I spotted him 😀

    • I really hope there’s a next time, too, Danish! (And the bf really enjoyed meeting you as well! 🙂 )

  • Columbine

I like the narrow panels at the top, it really focuses the action.

Ivan seems to be getting more riled up rather than less which isn’t a good sign. I’m wondering how on earth this is going to be resolved. A hostage situation is always going to be difficult and I’m not all that used to seeing things with guns like that played quite so realistically. Someone further down said they expect he’s got 11 shots left. You can do a lot of damage with that many shots.

    • Tyler Griffin

11 shots and six listed targets… or am I being too literal now? just finished 3 12 hour shifts and I think my filter might be broken…

  • Aitsuki

Oh lawd, this is spiraling out of control!!

  • Mary Klemzak

This guy is getting on my nerves.

  • bronakopdin

oh wow… I really wonder what leg that Ivan got up with that day… I guess the same leg as every day… It seems he’s not even thinking straight anymore, I mean even IF for some reason they really agreed after the shooting if he actually shot Cory who does he think is even goint to open that safe for him anymore?
    It’s pure rage talking there…
Mitch on the other hand, I’m amazed he can stay so calm about all this, already BEING grazed by a shot! For his young age it’s outstanding for sure!
I like his way of trying to convince Ivan but as that guy seems to have lost all logic I wonder whether he will agree and just let them go :/ seems so unlikely…
Cory gets more and more pissed about it, too! No wonder as it’s his brother being threatened there! I’m still wondering what the heck made him even help out in this… Money problems for sure… but what do they need it for?

I don’t think they need the money for anything specific. Diego just wants to rich.

      • bronakopdin

Maybe he does but why does Cory get involved then? We know from Mitch that 3 years ago he didn’t deal with his brother a lot because he didn’t like his ways, so why would he change his mind now? When he’s obviously still uncomfortable about the whole thing, I guess he sure DOES have a reason for being involved or persuaded by his brother. We just don’t know what exactly the reason is.
Maybe if it’s only that Diego is in big money troubles and asked his lil bro to help out and Cory is nice enough to help that’d still be a reason.
        though I somehow feel like it’s a better reason…
sure I might be wrong but I somehow doubt that Cory went along on a whim or just because he himself wanted money that bad… he doesn’t seem the type to me

        • Klaus

That was three years ago, Plenty of time for the brothers to get close again. maybe Diego cleaned up his act, but is now backsliding.

However that may be, look at page 6. Cory needs convincing again. And Diego does not mention any reason other than a life of luxury.

          • bronakopdin

Though him mentioning hotels and the like… seems they are planning an escape after this (which seems obvious) but then why even bother doing it?
There might be a reason for why they would rather set their lives on this and then live constantly traveling through hotels and fear of being caught instead of leading the lives they led to this point?

Rather like they need to escape anyway maybe? and need money FOR the escape?

Though of course this is all theory, I still think there is something more to all of this than just the wanting of money and luxury, at least in Cory’s case 🙂

Answers to Alex’ questions: No. No. No. Drink it himself.

Tonight, on the Real Super Negociator, Flyboy vs Ivan “Happy Trigger”: with two lives on the line, the tension is at its max! Stay tuned to see if our super guy will super deal with that mob-stealing meany!

    • Michael

Same bat time, same bat chann… err…

  • Alt+F7

I just realised I never comment here anymore. Still love you guys though.

Flyboy’s really mature for his age, but there’s no way Ivan’s going to come queitly, and both our super-boys are inexperienced enough they might freeze up when Ivan does something unpredictable 🙁

    • Derkins

same here. don’t comment as much anymore. *group hug*

      • Alt+F7

        Woo, silent buddies!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        We still love you though.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      We still love you too!

  • Kate G

You know what I just noticed? How is Ivan shooting a gun with the trigger safety lock on? *blinks*

Okay, Katie, it’s time to expand your imagination and not get into the details with the guns. But, seriously, I just noticed that. In this world, he totally would not be firing a gun. LOL.

Diego is looking mighty wary of that gun once Ivan threatened to shoot his crown jewels. I don’t know; somehow I’d be like, “YES! SHOOT ME IN THE UTERUS! PLEEEEEASE!” I have no idea what it is with men and the protection of the penis thing. I can tell you how happy I would be just to give up my uterus. I would be running down the halls screaming, “FREEDOM!” at the top of my lungs. Freedom from the mood swings. Freedom from the cravings. Freedom from those awful, hideous no good very bad periods.

I only get relief for 5 years with an IUD. Am I the only one who thought that looking at his face? I mean, I’d be like, “Please, if you have to shoot me anywhere, just shoot me in the uterus. It’s non-essential.” LOL.

    • Derek Fallows

Well… male hormones and such don’t cause as many problems of that nature as female ones, really. At least, not ones that guys tend to consider problematic.

      • Michael

“At least, not ones that guys tend to consider problematic.”

I disagree, having to give a presentation in front of your class or workplace while also hiding an ill-timed spontaneous erection is something most guys would describe as “problematic”.

To clarify, it’s not NEARLY as inconvenient as the problems that come with female organs and the cycles thereof, and I in no way intend to belittle or downplay those problems, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a problem of its own kind.

        • Tyler Griffin

But, but, but… you can TURN IT OFF! Takes about 15 seconds. I am constantly amazed at how few guys ever had that explained to them as teenagers. This is why the world needs comprehensive sex ed.

          • Michael

I know that and you know that, but how many 14-year-olds know that and have the self-control to do it?

          • Tyler Griffin

Which is why I say that it constantly amazes me how may poor guys went through high school and no one ever bothered to even tell them it was an option.

    • Columbine

*snort* I’d probably make the same mistake drawing guns because I’ve never lived anywhere where hand gun ownership was common or legal. There’s high gun ownership in the parts of the Middle East I grew up, but it’s mostly old hunting rifles. I could probably do a decent attempt at flint lock cos of my Gran. I mean I’m vaguely aware that modern hand guns have parts but I certainly didn’t know it’d be capable of more than the traditional six shots.

While I wouldn’t wanna get shot anywhere I can see your point. Had to have it checked out for some weird bleeding months ago and found myself half-hoping to be told I needed it removed- I very much get the impression cocks don’t give their owners as much crap though. I’d probably feel more protective of my reproductive organs if they didn’t kick me in the teeth regularly so their main observed function became ‘hey this makes sex fun!’. *shrugs*

      • Kate G

HA HA HA HA HA. Mine was, “HEY! IT’S PERIOD TIME! LET’S MAKE YOU WISH YOU HAD NO BRAIN!” because I would get the worst migraine you could imagine. I would cry for a whole week because my head would hurt so bad and nothing would help except steroids. I would take my migraine pills, take narcotics, I would go to the ER, do a massage…AND NOTHING HELPED except a round of medical steroids. But, taking steroids as much as I was was really bad because I really was setting myself up for early osteoporosis.

So, I now have been equipped with an IUD. At least I have no periods which means no period migraines.

Gun ownership rates depends on where you live here in the States. My dad is an avid gun owner, so I was exposed to how a gun works, what each gun looks like and why you don’t play with them from an early age. I can’t put them apart and put them back together (or clean them) but I know how to take the safety off so should I need–in the very, very, very rare case–to use them. Firing is kind of sketchy as I’ve never really fired a live round gun by myself. XD As I said, I’m better off with a frying pan a la Tangled. >.<

        • Columbine

Mine keeps changing and it’s not bad to the extent that you’d usually get medicated. I’ve got migraines, usually only for a day, pain, nausea. I’m pretty sure mood’s part of it too. My mixed up ideas about gender probably play into my response as well. It’s funny, there’s almost an idea like…….you should feel guilty for wanting rid of it. Like you need a reason not to have it.

Huh I’m pretty sure I’ve fired a live gun. But then safety isn’t really a thing where I was at the time. ‘Oh you kids are bored? We’ve got a busted fan round the back here have a hunting rifle and have fun!’

  • Jason Moon

Oh for f*%k’s sake Ivan, holding your gun like Travolta in “Pulp Fiction” just makes look like even MORE of an idiot than you’ve already proven yourself to be!

  • Michael

Hi guys, another quick note to let you know I can’t camp today either, as I have a kung fu tournament later today.

Only forms today, thankfully, but sparring is tomorrow and that will be a much bigger and more exhausting day. Forms, we each do one or maybe two forms, once or maybe twice each. Sparring, we have point, continuous, knife, and sword, and each of those is multiple rounds to determine the winners.

    • Tyler Griffin

Sounds like fun, have a good time and we’ll catch up with you later

      • Michael

I’ll let you all know how I go. Today I’ll probably spend most of the day judging, because my form will be right at the end of the day as the second-last category to be done.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Good luck in your tournament! I hope you have fun!

      • Michael

        Thanks, I’m sure I will.

    • davefragments

Have a good time and good luck with the battles.

  • Back from vacation (incl. YaoiCon), and despite having been up for a long time, and being so exhausted, I can’t sleep. Guess it’s a mix of post-vacation blues, coming down from all that awesome and busy time we’ve had, and timezones screwing with inner my clock. I’ve pretty much had jetlag/con-lag most of the week in US, so kinda used to feeling half-drunk now xD

So I decided to see what comes first: The new page, or me finally crashing hard after almost a full day of travel (+ time being up before leaving). I have had an amazing time with my fellow webcomic readers/friends: Starr, Gryphon, Sapfo, Puzzle and others.
Have also bought so much stuff at the con, and I’ve just been going through my loot – which includes to posters and two postcards from Alex’ TYP, and the TYP book. Hope to be able to repeat this again either next year or in 2017.

Also enjoyed meeting, and talking to, Alex’ boyfriend. Thank you for doing the Spooky cosplay. Definitely hope to meet Alex and others (again) another time, and hopefully get a little more time to actually sit down and talk with him 🙂
Thank you for the very sweet message you wrote in my TYP book.Alex.

    • stickfigurefairytales

I’m so glad to hear that you had an awesome time, and I hope your body will let you get some sleep soon.

      • Agreed 🙂 .. and I know Sapfo is still awake too, so it’s not just me. Timezones are going to hot SO hard soon >.<

    • Yay! Glad you made it safely!!

      • Yes! And we had such fun, and some good luck. Puzzle was lucky enough to be the first winner, both of the Bishie-Bingo but also a raffle during one panel. Strangely enough I got to be the 2nd last winner of exactly the two same things. The one time I didn’t win anything item though, because we were two with bingo at the same time and the other one won that draft, but I got to be on stage still while one of the bishies took a piece of clothes off .. yum~
Starr won a photo contest – that we actually didn’t know she/we were a part of ´*lol*

Other than that we also had pretty good luck with public transport, finding parking spaces fast, short lines and such. It was like we had the transportation god and the vacation god with us 😉

        • Nice!! And Gryphon showed you about San Francisco?

          • Yes, we were around Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate, the beach and lots of fun things. Had some really great food, tea at a teahouse and, again, luck was with us and we got to catch one of the cable wagons and drive around in that – getting seats on the outside too.

          • Cool!! Sounds like a blast.

        • davefragments

          “Bishies”? ? ?

          • Short for bishounen, translated roughly meaning “pretty boy.” Used for attractive male anime characters, and sometimes real life. ( Generally they are sort of girlish looking).

Explanation from Urban Disctionary, and pretty spot on. Basically we played strip bingo xD The bishie guys took a piece of clothes off in VERY sexy ways when someone had bingo + the winner got a gift (and if more than one winner, one got the item but all got to be there with a guy taking something off for each winner). Down to underwear.

          • davefragments

I’m not sure that I should have asked. I may never play bingo again. . .

          • LOL .. it was awesome! Some of the funniest events I’ve ever been a part of. The guys varied a lot, and some probably wouldn’t be called bishie outside of the con-events, but daaayum.
I hope to experience this again. I may have lost a bit of my hearing from the screaming during those days, but so worth it!!

          • Oh, I probably shouldn’t explain about the bishie auction then, though that is pretty self explaining 😉

          • davefragments

The last time I played bingo was in a nursing home my Mom was in…
The thoughts of anyone taking off their clothes still freaks me out. Hell, I don’t even want to see me naked, anymore.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Nice!

    • It was really great to meet you too, Danish! A real treat for me. 😀

  • davefragments

I’m early tonight. How is everybody?

    • Tired. And yet I basically did nothing today. But then again it was my day off.

      • davefragments

This was a relax day for me. Last Unsay was a Symphony downtown with 12 construction zones and a football game near to the concert hall. Tuesday was chores and out and tummy trouble. Thursday was more food shopping and today I rested.

MY main relaxation was Pope Francis and his little Fiat.

        • I was roasting coffee all week and I was happy to just do nothing. I don’t even have to cook dinner. YAY!!

Everyone is so excited for his visit.

          • davefragments

I had chicken six days in a row. That gets tired real fast.
I drink tea. I’m not a coffee person.

          • I can only drink decaf. o.O Which really hinders things sometimes. My dad wanted this business, but with how things worked, I ended up taking over the roasting part. Which isn’t so bad, just on days it’s hot and the wind blows all wonky.

          • davefragments

I bought some really good gourmet coffee for work once just to treat them and asked one of the engineers to make it. He made dynamite. Now I’m an engineer and I will never ask another engineer advice on food or drink again. I never roasted the stuff, though.

          • It’s an interesting proposition. I’m no master, but we’re just a small family business. Now making the coffee that’s an art!

          • davefragments

            It’s an interesting business.

          • It is. Doing the roasting suits me since I’m not a people person. 🙂

          • davefragments

I have to turn on my “people person” persona. Usually I’m just quiet.

          • It’s usually hard for me to socialize. But I suppose that’s the nice thing about the internet. 😀

          • davefragments

Not for me but I have to turn it on nowadays.

          • stickfigurefairytales

I’m a tea fan as well.

          • davefragments

Green tea with a Turbinado sugar.

          • stickfigurefairytales

I tend to prefer black tea or some types of herbal, but I’m with you on the Turbinado sugar.

          • stickfigurefairytales

This has made me really want tea – I’m gonna go make some. Be back soon.

  • YangYueLan

Whooo, actually remembered to camp! Hi! Its been a long time!

    • Nice to see you back 🙂

      • YangYueLan

Nice to be back. Life got a little crazy.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Yay, welcome back!

  • stickfigurefairytales

I’m back with tea in tow!
