Yeah, dude, what the hell?

Over at the Patreon Page, $5+ Patrons got to see a very special image on Sunday: Adam’s pencils for Flyboy’s very first kiss! And it’s with somebody you all know. 🙂

Reactions so far have included: “Awww, this is so adorable I can’t even handle it!”, and “I cannot stop looking at this. Hehe. It is so damn cute. I CANNOT wait to see it in color! Awesome artwork!”

Here’s a sneak preview of that sneak preview:

So! Looks like Ivan isn’t just going to drop his gun and come out quietly. What’s Flyboy going to do about that? What’s Cory going to do about that? And most importantly, how will this affect Ivan’s friendship with Diego?!

Tune in this Saturday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • davefragments

Now that’s a switch — shoot the brother and not the friend.

    • Michael

Missed it by that much. Congrats, dave.

    • Klaus

He needs Cory. He does not need Diego.

      • timemonkey

And the gun gives him a false sense of power and control.

      • davefragments

        Good point.
Cory didn’t think this through. Now Cory is in trouble and his kid brother is going to need mucho therapy, and Mitch is thinking with his heart rather than his mind (that’s what a teenager does).

  • Dammit!

    • davefragments

If you saw how many things were flying from around the computer, over me, on the floor, at the table, in the glass, and the many windows on the computer, you would be amazed. I thought I was so late and a couple clicks and the page pops up. Plus, you almost had it for my fumbling fingers spelling every word so wrong the spellchecker couldn’t fix them!

      • You were there when I hit post. 🙂

        • davefragments

As you know, you can’t tell because Disqus is goofy with its time stamps. I had to reload twice to see.

          • Yeah, those gremlins are real jerks.

          • davefragments

You should see what happens on some of the political boards. Disqus absolutely insane how it does and doesn’t update. Even at its busiest, I’ve never seen that here.

          • Oh yeah, I’m sure. I try to stay far from the politics. They make me wanna go HULK SMASH!

          • davefragments

“Dave” does not post on political boards because I don’t want them to follow me back here and create havoc. I have a very separate email and disqus ID for politics.

          • Smart!! And as a moderator, I thanks you. 😀

          • davefragments

My pleasure. The TYP has been great for me since it started and I protect it.

  • Ivan, I think you’re holding the gun wrong.

  • Michael

Clearly my Patreon comments need to be made more quoteable. :/
dude, you just threatened the brother of a powerful telekinetic. That little gun ain’t gonna save you now.

  • Toli Bera

why hasn’t he used his telekinesis to rag-doll to guy with the gun against the wall?

this is why I shouldn’t have powers.

    • Michael

No, this is why you should have them. I would have telekinetically jammed the trigger first, just in case.

      • Klaus

Cory has not shown much fine control. Tear out more or less the whole wall. Slam everybody against a wall.

        • Michael

Good point. Just slam Ivan and Diego into the wall. They’ll survive.

(Diego deserves it for dragging Cory into this mess)

          • (and shooting Mitch)

          • Michael

And that, but Mitch knowingly flew head-first at a criminal with a gun, so…

          • Regardless Ivan still shot Mitch.

I am still trying to figure out how to set p a room for PP for almost killing him (love you forever Spooky for the save). I would think about handing her over to the demons, but I feel she would just become their queen….

          • Michael

Just hand her over to the gay demons, they won’t be swayed by her… ugh… “charms”.

          • PP is 6000 years old and claims to be a (currently ex) deity. Gay or not, she would take over.

          • Michael

Not with that fashion sense, darling. When does she think she is, the fifties? Buck Rogers called, they need their space princess costume back.

          • Toli Bera

Thank you Raven & Raja for this Fashion Photo Review.

          • Michael

I wish Raven and Raja would get in on superhero costume design.

          • Toli Bera

didn’t Tim Gunn go through and critique a bunch a few years ago?

          • Phyre Storm

            SNERK!

    • timemonkey

For the same reason Mitch didn’t kick him in the head while saving the guard? Gotta keep the scene going for dramatic tension!

      • Michael

i.e. everybody’s panicking and not thinking.

(fun fact: my autocorrect tried to change that to “picnicking”, which would make for a much more pleasant, but less dramatic, story)

        • dereule101

You’re thinking of The Young Protectors as illustrated by Jean Honoré Fragonard rather than by Adam DeKraker and Veronica Gandini.

          • Michael

… somebody make fanart of this.

            SOMEBODY MAKE FANART OF THIS.

@alexwoolfson:disqus, make this a Patreon reward? Pretty please with puppy dog eyes and a wibbling lower lip?

(I can’t draw for toffee, or I’d do it myself)

          • dereule101

If it happens, it should definitely include Kyle on the swing with his sock flying off, since there’s canon precedent for him losing articles of clothing.

  • Cory, I don’t think you should have trusted your brother on this. Everything he touches seems to go to shit and this is just one more example.

  • Jeez! My camping skills are abysmal. This is what happens when you’re gone for too long. *sigh* Totally missed, well, everything!

Mitch looks beautiful in that last panel. Damn.

    • I would say the long week end kept everyone away, but that was just here in the US. School’s back in session here too.

    • Michael

I forgot it was a Wednesday until I got the update emails.

    • I fell asleep trying to get back on an almost normal sleep schedule.

    • stickfigurefairytales

You did better than me – I forgot what day it was!

  • timemonkey

Can’t Mitch just fly around and take him from behind?

    • Michael

Considering he can reach supersonic speeds, he should be able, theoretically, to burst in and grab the gun before Ivan can think to squeeze the trigger. Theoretically.

      • davefragments

I don’t think he can hit that speed in that short a distance.
Plus, inertia might apply. He said that something protects a passenger but that doesn’t mean that he can stop on a dime or reverse course on a dime. Inertia.

    • dereule101

I mean, once he turns 18…

      • Phyre Storm

I knew someone was going to say it…

        • timemonkey

Really, I’m only surprised that only one joke was made. XD

  • Nate

Ivan needs to be taken out for three reasons:

    1) HE SHOT MITCH!!!
    2) He threatened Mitch’s couch buddy!
    3) He’s holding his gun sideways. I hate that. 🙂

  • Marcus Dionte Scott

*In Will Ferrell voice* …Well, that escalated quickly…

  • Marcus Dionte Scott

So, basically, should a coroner summarize the brother’s stomach contents (should worse come to worst), may I request the following statement made in caption bubbles: “Welp, yo’ last meal seems to have been a sandwich and some fries, with the main course bein’ DEATH with a side of lead, bitch!”

    • Klaus

A natural death. But what about the gun wound? That is considered a natural death in Stockton.

  • I’ve been down for the count for the last 36 hours with a headache, and I wouldn’t exactly say that my brain has surfaced to clear thinking yet…
The first two times reading the page, before commenting, what came to me first was how much I liked the last panel and Mitch’s intens look – despite all the shit happening on the page. It really IS a great panel, but not where I think my focus should be xD

    • Klaus

I hope you get well soon. And stay so.

    • *hugs* Feel better soon sweetie!

    • stickfigurefairytales

I hope you feel better! *hugs*

  • I think Diego has is having himself a life lesson in whether or not he should continue on the path of being a crook.

Lesson part 1: You can’t trust the reactions of a bad guy with a gun.
Lesson part 2: If you want to go down the criminal road, you need to pick ‘partners’ better.
Lesson part 3: (Already failed) You don’t drag your loved ones into it.

  • jreed3842

OR (I personally like this option better)
Cory can use his powers to fuckin’ squish your brains from the inside out! …. Jerk.

    • Klaus

The gun would do. If he does not have that much fine control, the gun and the arm.

    • Telekinetics have a hard time manipulating things behind a barrier, especially if they can’t see what they are trying to manipulate. While it is possible to do so, their mind will tell them there is something in the way. A telekinetic who wanted to be able to flip coins behind a barrier of glass would really have to train themselves to do it.

It would be easier for Cory to squish Ivan’s head from the outside, a plan I totally support. Or flattening his arm and gun to a pulp, as Klaus suggested.

  • Mary Klemzak

Ok I’m having a bad night. I really wish you wouldn’t have those stupid previews of patreon stuff. It’s asshole moves, in my opinion.

Or I need a buddy who can hook me up with these goodies. Anyone interested, please reply.

    • Omar Cantu

It’s his way of making money for something a lot of people get for free. I also want to see it but I understand it’s not necessary for my life so I can wait until I can pay for them.

    • Phyre Storm

I’m sorry you’re having a bad night. Do let us know if insulting Alex and then asking random people to buy you stuff made it any better.

    • It’s oki that you’re frustrated that you can’t be a patron, but I don’t think there’s any need to call the previews stupid or asshole moves.
Alex needs to make a living of TYP, and telling about the Patreon is how he can do it. If not Patreon there probably wouldn’t be a comic to read now. Look at it as Omar just said below.

A solution could also be to sign up for Patreon, and then only pledge the months where you can spare the money. $5 gives you access to basically everything posted. You don’t need to pay each month to get access to the extra content. Except for a handfull of temporary uploads, it’s all there to look back on. It’s not like Kickstarter where you HAVE to pay a certain amount to get anything at all. Just make sure to pledge before the last day of the month, when you can, and then not edit your pledge (example cancel your patronage to the comic) until a few days into the next month.

      • dereule101

Needs, deserves, and is rightfully entitled to make a living off of TYP.

      • Phyre Storm

You know what? I think I may just do that. Thanks for the suggestion.

    • That last sentence seems to be talking about someone who is a Patreon handing over the goodies they (we) receive for being a Patreon.

As a writer who has had his work ripped off in the past, this is really uncool.

We get it. You either don’t have the money, or you just don’t want to spend it. I don’t have much myself, but I make the effort. Not for the freebies, but to help this wonderful storyline going for everyone.

If you think Alex should just do this without being able to support himself, then perhaps you won’t mind ripping out your soul and posting it on the Internet. And yes, it really does feel like that, especially when people act as if they are entitled to the skills you’ve worked hard to perfect and the stories you’ve worked hard to tell the right way.

Want to know the differences between writing and giving birth? 1) it takes a lot longer than 9 months, 2) labor lasts a lot longer than a day or two, and 3) writers have to manage multiple births at the same time. Oh, and we don’t get baby showers.

      • Kate G

Exactly. I don’t have the money to support my good artist buddies, but I am happy for them! Yea, it sucks not getting the extra goodies but I am just happy seeing the beautiful art, the videos, the comics or whatever it is they create! I will take the wonderful free content because I know how hard it the work is! I always cry a little inside when I gift someone one of my crochet blankets because, man, I spent HOURS on them (and the money! OH THE MONEY!) Respect what you get for free!

        • Phyre Storm

Seriously. I don’t crochet, but my mom does, and I’ve seen how much work and yarn she puts into each project. Anyone who crochets or does another craft or art should be able to understand.

          • Kate G

It crushes me when I can tell someone doesn’t like my gift when I crochet something for them. I crocheted a baby blanket for my brother and his girlfriend and his girlfriend did NOT like it. She was all, “It’s adorable. Thank you,” but her face said the opposite. Let me tell you, I spent $100 on premium cotton yarn, okay? It. Was. Expensive.

I now take deep pride in the fact my nephew rejected her aunt’s crocheted blanket for mine. Revenge is best served on a baby platter.

          • Phyre Storm

My mom avoids that kind of thing by asking people what colors they like or even letting them pick the yarn.

You do NOT want to know where my mind went with the phrase “served on a baby platter.” 😛

          • Kate G

Oh no, she just did not like the blanket came from ME. She and I…well…we aren’t exactly “friends.” In fact, as long as I don’t have to be in the same room as her, I’m fine. I can co-habitate with her. Being in the same room creates issues. If you stay on a neutral topic like Disney, we’re fine. Tell her Disney also did the Kill Bill series and the Scream series (Miramax, before it closed, was owned by Disney!) and we’re off in an argument. I’m not even kidding.

I have a good idea of what you thought.

          • Phyre Storm

Well, then, it sounds like your gift was as well-received as you could expect, and the actual recipient likes it, so who cares what your SIL thinks.

    • Marie

I actually like seeing the Patreon previews. It’s all I get to see of the Patreon products (I can’t afford any extra money out each month) and they’re usually neat to see even in part. It’s underneath the comic, so if I don’t want to (or it feels repetitive), I don’t really even have to see it (and if you really like reading the blog/blurb, I mean, there is self promo in pretty much every similar thing, just not always toward Patreon, so I don’t really get it).

Plus, I can’t imagine he would have many backers if no one could see what they would get from sponsoring before they had already clicked through and/or sent money

Either way, asking people to copy the stuff that pays his bills for you for free is the dick move, not Patreon bits being shown.

    • fujoshifanatic

You must not read the comments very often, otherwise you wouldn’t have made such a d-baggish comment, or thought such a request would get you results. :-

Still, I hope you’re feeling better, but I certainly hope no one honors your requests first or second.

      • Mary Klemzak

You’re right, I don’t. There’s so many comments, that I just scroll through. I only look for specific people, if at all, if I like them and what they have to say. Otherwise, certain names just really irk me, and make me cringe. One Used to be my friend, but is someone who ended up stressing me out. I wish I could forget people like her, but she has to comment on what I have to say.

Guess I have to sign out and just enjoy and not comment on how nice art or dialogue is. I was having fun.

        • fujoshifanatic

I’m sorry you feel that way, and that you had a less than positive experience with someone else, but overall the community here is pretty neat, the main reason for that being that we try to be respectful and positive with each other, even if people have not-so-positive things to say, as you’ve seen with all the rather respectful replies you’ve received to your comment. Alex, Adam, and Vera always welcome and are appreciative of compliments on their work, so I hope you continue to do that.

And if you have some constructive criticisms of their work or process, they have always welcomed that too, and nearly always provide a thoughtful response to that as well. But faulting them for promoting that which enables you to keep enjoying this comic (one that takes A LOT of work, effort and expense) for free is totally unfair.

These folks are not wealthy, and they do not do this great art and storyline for shits and giggles. Alex’s Patreon is what helps him, Alex and Vera keep putting out TYP by paying for stuff like living expenses and supplies so that they can can all focus on maintaining the quality that you enjoy.

Are you saying that they should not be allowed to earn a living from that, or promote that they are devoted full-time to giving us what we want and therefore rely on us to keep that arrangement going? I don’t think that’s very fair.

Maybe as you said, when you have had a bad day, you should just focus on the comic, which is sure to pick you up, and save the opportunity to connect with some really great folks (including the creators!) for the times when you’re feeling better. Then we all benefit from that kind of feedback.

Anyway, thanks for responding to my (mildly) smippy comment in a civil manner. I, as everyone else, am rather protective of this little pocket of positivity in the fandom universe, and would hate to see it change in a bad way.

I wish you well, and hope you don’t miss out on the benefits of this great group of folks. 🙂

          • Phyre Storm

I’m the one who “Used to” be Mary’s friend. Then she said something extremely racist and flipped out on me when I called her out on it.

Mary, you seem to have forgotten how I offered you a place to stay so you could get out of an abusive situation when I barely even knew you, how I played therapist for free when you had a bad day, and how I gave you many screenshots of a certain webcomic-based game you said you couldn’t afford. So I’d say you’re actually pretty good at forgetting me. Just forget you hate me for no fucking reason now and you’ll be all set.

Everyone else, her request for free Patreon stuff is probably partly my fault. I gave her screenshots of Starfighter: Eclipse. I’m sorry.

    • Hi guys!!

I want to thank everyone for remaining respectful, but it’s time to move on. We have an awesome comic to discuss so let’s concentrate our energy that way.

With that said, I’m closing this thread. Any further comments in response here will be deleted.

      Thanks!!

  • Diviana

Cory, this it. Pick a side or your brother is going to end up dead. You don’t have to kill the guy. The way he’s holding the guy one good tug will rip it out of his hands.

    • There’s a good chance his brother will be in danger either way. Criminals who will shoot an associate just to make a point are not usually that great on keeping promises.

In Cory’s shoes, I’d look at the brother and say, “I’ll miss you bro.”

      • Diviana

I was thinking Mitch could take Ivan out after Cory rips the gun away or Mitch can grab Diego. If I was Cory, I’d have already ran for it.

  • Sapfo

    How rude!
You don´t just go around shotting people, that is so rude! Mitch I hope you are up to showing this young man how a propper gent acts.

  • Phyre Storm

Ivan, you idiot. Now you’ve got EVERYONE against you, and two of them have superpowers. And when the gangsters wake up, you won’t be the only one with a gun.

  • Mikki

I’m totally against Ivan, but even still…why the stomach? Wouldn’t that show weakness? That he couldn’t or wouldn’t go for an almost definite kill shot (ex head)? I mean a shot to the stomach could still kill, but head is more definite. Or maybe it’s to show a bluff? But for it to be a bluff, he seems awfully asshole-ish (not nervous) and quite serious.

    • Phyre Storm

Being shot in the stomach usually kills too, but slowly and very painfully as the acid leaks out everywhere. But that’s only if Ivan can hit the actual stomach. Getting shot in the abdomen in general has a much higher survival rate, but still hurts like hell.

      • Tharsonius

pro tip: on days you expect to get shot in the stomach or commit seppuku, don’t have breakfast to reduce acid production and discomfort.

        • Adam Black

one more fun thing, i will have to avoid now.

    • Kate G

Uh, no, not with that range. Bullets do one thing and that is destroy things in their path. The stomach region is a NASTY place for one reason: there are A LOT of organs there. There is a lot of flesh there. That is a semi-automatic pistol. That gun is mean to put SPEED behind it. At that range, it is going to rip up Cory’s brother’s insides.

There wouldn’t just be blood coming out the exit wound, but stomach acid, tissue and flesh because that is what a bullet made for speed is meant to do. It won’t rip APART your insides like a bird shot or a deer shot from a shot gun would (which would be instantly fatal), but his insides would be a mess.

So, let’s think about it, if that shot goes any major organ in his stomach area. His body will begin gushing acid from his stomach or even his intestines should it be the intestines (which actually will dissolve his body’s muscles and other organs) and pumping out blood at the same time. A wound like that takes 10-15 minutes to die without medical intervention.

A head shot or a shot to the heart for a gang member is really considered a move you do in a hurry. Stomach shots are PAINFULLY slow, torturous and a good way to show power over a person you are killing as long as you are there the whole time to make sure they actually DIE. #watchestoomanytruecrimeshows

      • Keneu

This. My feeling is that either he thinks he has all the control in this situation and he’s trying to show it off being a sadistic bastard, or Ivan has a serious case of “me against the world” mentality and will neutralize any potential threat he perceives, real or not.

        • Kate G

The thing is he is also failing at it pretty badly too. Desperate criminals (especially those who legitimately need money) are DANGEROUS criminals because they are unpredictable.

I know most of my gun knowledge from my dad (he’s a gun buff.) As it is, this criminal probably won’t have any luck hitting Ivan’s stomach with the way he’s holding that gun. You can hold a pistol with one hand, but you can’t hold it that way. He’s more likely go go a few inches off from his intended target and to break his wrist (or a thumb) from the recoil. The following shows how to PROPERLY hold a pistol.

          http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2012/08/foghorn/ask-foghorn-whats-the-right-way-to-grip-a-handgun/

And now you will know whenever those cop dramas will get a gun hold wrong. LOL. It happens A LOT.

          • Keneu

Wow, I didn’t know that. The only time I shot a weapon was when my neighbourgh offered me to shot his game shotgun. He waited until he saw it slide down my shoulder a bit and then told me to shoot. I was suddenly staring into the sky wondering what happened. At least I wasn’t injured in any way. xD

          • Kate G

The only gun I’ve ever shot is a BB gun…and I can’t even hit a target from 25 feet with that thing. I should satisfy myself and get closer next time I’m at my aunt’s house. LOL.

Oh yea, shotguns have some big recoil. They’re shoulder bruisers.

    • Columbine

I agree with Kate G. But I’d add Ivan’s probably also going for the stomach because then the ‘hero’ is likely to stop and try and save the victim’s life rather than chase Ivan.

    • Connor

It’s better to grievously injure someone than kill them, because it takes two people to carry that person to the hospital, giving Ivan time to escape.

  • Aitsuki

Wow…. Ivan’s a total BITCH. A gut shot??? That’s not cool! Screw you, you ass!

  • Jeldenil

I was going to crack a joke little other commenters will understand unless they read ‘cans of beans’ too. Anyway. I don’t like Ivan at all. Nothing good to say about him, no theories why he acts like he does. I hope he will be taken out soon.

    • Make it anyway?

      • Jeldenil

Something about Dude being a were-villain and Diego being on to his secret identity. 😉

  • LJ_Phillips

I’m the a webcomic creator like yourself and a part-time pop culture journalist for Black Ship Books. I recently posted an article on your other comic Artifice(which, to my mind, is one of the finest complete LGBT webcomics on the net.)

I’ve interviewed comic book professionals such as Liam Sharp, Stjepan Sejic and Terry Moore. I’d be honored to add you to their number.

Is there a way to contact you directly and set-up an interview?

  • *snuggles up with her Mitch doll* I’m not worried, Mitch has this.

Though…Ivan you are one sadistic b*stard. Gut shot? Seriously? -_- Try that on Mitch and your stay in my special room gets extended. -_- Not amused.

    • Klaus

So you did get your doll.

      • Well, technically it isn’t a physical doll. Doki has this nice place in her head that has a Mitch doll for cuddles. (and no, it is not a life size Mitch doll)

        • stickfigurefairytales

I wonder if any of our talented friends could crochet a Mitch doll…

          • I know Sapfo does, but there are other dolls before she gets to Mitch. Though I really hope she makes Abel first. I am not sure Cain and Axis would be ideal role models. Though I am sure they already corrupted Kyle.

    • purplefoxglove

I misread “your stay in my special room” as “your place in my special room” and suddenly had visions of Doki and Ivan and a freaking *rack*

      *shudders*

The rack? Ivan is far too tough to succumb to the rack. We shall need… the COMFY CHAIR! And the soft cushions, too!

        • purplefoxglove

You’re sending my paranoia into overdrive 😉

  • Michael

Thinking back, I think I called this. A few pages ago. Ivan’s the type of criminal who doesn’t like witnesses, or sharing the loot.

  • Johndar

Can’t Mitch go like, mach 2? I know he got shot before, but if he strafes around to him, or tries to approach from a different angle, I can’t see this guy being able to do anything. Cory could alternatively just blast him right now before he could do anything, but we’ll see I guess.

    • Michael

Not in such close quarters, apparently. I guess he needs a bit of a run-up to reach that speed.

      • Johndar

I figure as well, but he still went fast enough when he grabbed the guard that they could barely tell what happened. As long as he doesn’t fly directly towards him, or at another angle, he should be fine. I’m guessing Cory will take care of it though.

  • Jason Moon

I can’t believe Diego didn’t see this coming, Ivan is just the classic shitheel. End of story.

Ah, well. I guess friendship can you as blind as love can…

    • Klaus

Are they even friends? Ivan offered Diego and Cory shares of a very large sum of money. We have seen nothing to indicate that Diego would not fall for that.

  • AseretZone

Whoa, a lot’s happened since I last came in here! Yeesh, poor Mitch! I hope he gets his friend and his brother out okay. Can’t he speed in, grab them, and speed out? He can move faster than a speeding bullet, can’t he?

    • Klaus

No. According to wikipedia, the small arms used by the US military have a muzzle velocity of 1000 m/s or more. That is mach 3, Mitch can only fly at mach 2.

      • AseretZone

Ohh. I didn’t know that. *shrugs*

  • stickfigurefairytales

Dang it, I got mixed up because of Labor Day and forgot to camp yesterday!

Holy crap, Ivan. Such a dick move. I mean, tactically speaking it’s probably pretty effective from the standpoint of preventing Flyboy from taking action in the short term, but on the other hand, you’ve lost any potential allies. And you’re a dick.

  • bronakopdin

    last page for now ^^

As I feared Ivan is not gonna get fooled that easily and to make it worse he’s now not only threatening Mitch but also Doego who was supposed to be a partner?!
I start wondering why Diego and Cory even teamed up with this dude… they’re obviously not that close…
Can’t wait to be home on Sunday and read the next page 😀
and as I see the sneak peak thumbnail here again: I so LOVED the First Kiss art from Mitch 😀
it’s actually my new favourite out of them all!

  • Niggle

FYI, the “next” button isn’t working for page 15, almost didn’t realize this page was up. And eee, what is Mitch gonna dooo?

    • Klaus

He will have to use the direct link to the newest page like the rest of us.

  • Klaus

“Get me the money.” Not “us”, “me”. I don’t know how I overlooked this until now.

    • Phyre Storm

Yep. That’s another way Ivan just tipped his hand.

      • Klaus

        Way more.

  • fujoshifanatic

Have been away for a bit due to school and other stuff, but I’m happy to see that the community is still as lively as ever!

I have been following the story though, and I must say, the turn of events is quite intense!

It may have been mentioned earlier, so I apologize for not knowing due to my absence, but does anyone know the timeline for this interlude? I know it was after the Truth or Dare game, but is it before or after the events of the main storyline? An answer either way might suggest some interesting insights into Mitch for me, and I am curious to know.

Either way, I am happy to be back, and hopefully will have time to camp tomorrow if the avalanche of homework doesn’t get too bad. 😀

    • The events of this story take place before the main Engaging the Enemy
arc and will have a huge impact on Flyboy’s life. What will we learn
about the youngest member of the team as he faces his most thrilling
challenge? What will he gain — and what will he lose?

      ^_^

      • fujoshifanatic

Silly me, I missed that! Thanks Doki! Hm, that sheds an interesting light on some of the things he has done in the main story arc. I love the layers Alex builds into his stories; his are one of the few comics I enjoy re-reading from beginning to end over and over. 😀

  • Chris Dangerfield

I’m sorry I’ve been silent for the last couple of pages. It certainly wasn’t for lack of having enjoyed each page and having them lift my weeks up (even if our Mitch & friends are in a bit of a pickle). Life has just been full, like life sometimes gets. So more TL:DR soon.

I’ll eventually catch up with comments too and see which Moderator needs to be harassed most (*ducks incoming muffin*).

Just a quick inadequate thank you to Alex, Adam and Veronica for so faithfully and gorgeously posting each of these recent pages. They never fail to make my page-day a much better thing!

Take care everyone. I hope to make it to camp tonight. 😀

  • Saxon_Brenton

Ah, old friends are back. Hello Chris and Fujshifanatic.

To matters at hand. I can’t recall if anybody (including myself) has already pointed this out, but I’m increasingly thinking that Ivan is a wannabe. The newbie mistakes he makes (such as letting opponents see his face unmasked) through to his posturing aggression makes me wonder if he’s seen too many movies. I even wonder if he’s the type of person who’s trained with handguns enough to be able to properly compensate for the kick when it fires – the one-handed firing technique he uses on page 13 has me split between ‘Yeah, he is that good a shot’ and ‘Nah, he only hit Flyboy because of a luck’.

  • Cman65

Wow how dumb is this guy? That kid could slam him into the wall faster than he can blink or fire a gun

  • Sorry guys, I am going to bed, before I pass out at my computer. Happy hunting!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Goodnight, Doki! Sleep well!

  • Michael

Hi al! Just popping in to say I won’t be able to camp today, I have housework followed by an evening wedding. As they say in my country, “seey’z tomurra”

    • stickfigurefairytales

      See you tomorrow, Michael!

      • Michael

Wedding was wonderful, after-party was overwhelmingly loud and crowded. It took most of today to recharge my introvert batteries, but I’m glad I went.

  • davefragments

I might make it to camping. If not, I’ll be at the new page.

    • stickfigurefairytales

See you there, if not sooner!

  • stickfigurefairytales

    Anybody here?

    • Imma here.

      • stickfigurefairytales

Yay! Hi! How are you doing?

        • Gotta a bit of a headache.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Aw, I hope you feel better soon.

          • Working on it..

          • stickfigurefairytales

I’m just trying to keep my eyes open long enough to make it to the new page.

          • Soon!

    • jreed3842

      I’m here!!
      How ya doing?!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Pretty good, although sleepy! You?

        • jreed3842

I’m pretty great! Glad to hear you’re doing well!

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Same to you! 🙂
