Ow-ie.

So, over on the Patreon Page, we’re now less than $10 away from unlocking the NEXT Milestone Goal — a new sexy, world-spanning pairing of my characters that Patrons will get to vote on! And less than a week ago, Patrons unlocked the previous Milestone Goal for the Full Monty Spooky painting by WOODun!

That means that all Patrons (including new Patrons) who have a current pledge in August (and successfully complete their pledge) will get sent the link to a digital wallpaper version of the full image of Full Monty Spooky. (And $10+ backers will also get sent a link to a high-res version with double the resolution!)

This will be in addition to me also sending out links to the super-sexy Deacon-Kyle images as well! This will be your last chance to get access to that Deacon-Kyle painting, the most revealing image I’ve ever commissioned and that Patrons said was “one of the most beautiful pieces of art to come out of your work to date!” If you wait to pledge on September 1st, it’ll be too late!

And in addition to all that, a couple days ago, Patrons who pledged $5+ got to download a Digital Kickstarter Reward of Kyle using his powers to save the day for the very first time! Here’s a sneak preview of that image:

If you’re enjoying our work here and would like to see it continue (and would like to get access to all kinds of special benefits — including the most explicit pin-up I’ve ever commissioned!),

please take a moment to watch the video on my Patreon page and consider becoming a Patron.

So! Flyboy’s been SHOT! Gah! What’s going to happen next?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • Dammit Flyboy!!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Nice job!

    • Keneu

      Congrats on the V!

      • Thanks! These days it’s hard to know if it’s gotten or missed it by this much.

    • Tyler Griffin

Good grief. I’m not even a flyer and I know better than to fly in a straight line directly at the bullet slinger. Swerve, Damn you! Swerve!

      • Yup!

      • Holly

This is why adolescents can’t go off and fight crime on their own! Common sense not fully developed!

  • davefragments

bang, bang, he shot me down!

    • Holly

SO CLOSE. I WAS SO CLOSE

    • Holly

Bang Bang, I hit the ground.

  • stickfigurefairytales

Okay, so birds are not immune to bullets. Good to know.

  • I think you needed a better start than that, you know to get up to full speed.

  • Alt+F7

Oh no. I hope flyboy’s obvious decision doesn’t go too badly 🙁

  • stickfigurefairytales

I just got home from going to the baseball game with my parents and a family friend (our team won!), and the new page is up! This is good since I’m pretty tired, but I am a little sad I missed camping.

    • Holly

you missed my glorious return. Not much fanfair. the camp was small. Only 4 people today

  • Holly

“Who killed Cock Robin?” “I,” said the Sparrow,
“With my bow and arrow, I killed Cock Robin.”

  • davefragments

I don’t think that wall is going to stop Ivan from chasing Mitch down with all those broken bricks sticking out of it.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      But he’s hidden!

      • davefragments

I don’t think so. He should have gone up to a roof.

        • stickfigurefairytales

Nuh-uh. Out of direct line of sight = flawless hiding

          • Holly

He is literally just around the corner. Now he’s doomed

          • stickfigurefairytales

Nooo! Can’t see me! (well, Mitch) Especially if he covers his eyes. That’s how it works.

          • davefragments

What do you call a rabbit in a kilt?

          • stickfigurefairytales

            …I have no idea.

          • davefragments

            HOP SCOTCH. . .

          • Klaus

            We need a pun jar.

          • Michael

Half of us would go broke from lack of self-control, and the other half would embroken ourselves out of spite.

          • Michael

What I mean to say is that all of us would find the experience uncomfortably jarring.

          • Tyler Griffin

            That was glorious

          • davefragments

It was my surrender to “you ain’t there if you can’t be seen” …
            🙂

          • Holly

aww my sweet naive sticky nooo

          • darius404
          • Soirbleu

Oh, damn, you already said this. I should have read farther down the comments before posting. Alas, my urge to be a smartass overwhelmed that possibility…

          • Tyler Griffin

It works in D&D and WoW

          • Jeldenil

            Cactus disguises work in WoW.

          • Soirbleu

            Flawless logic!

            …Hi, everyone.

          • Michael

He just needs to squat down and he’ll be fine.

  • Fabulous Alien

    First of all: Ouch!
But also, could this possibly snap Cory out of going along with whatever his brother says and finally convince him that Ivan isn’t really a stand-up guy?

  • Tyler Griffin

To quote the Great Monty Python, “Run Away!!!!!”

    • Klaus

      The brave sir Mitchell

      • Michael

        Bravely bold Sir Mitchell
        Flew forth from Amanda’s lot.
He was not afraid to die, oh brave Sir Mitchell!
He was not at all afraid to be killed in nasty ways,
Bravest of the brave, brave Sir Mitchell!

      • Tyler Griffin

Ran away. Bravely, bravely Ran Away!

  • DC

Crap, very close to what I said as I scrolled down the page, close but not quite. If I was Cory I’d be using my power to slam Ivan into the wall at least to try and disarm him. I hope that Mitch’s wound isn’t more than an owie.

    • Holly

Ivan makes cory push the wall ON mitch. Cory is too scared to argue

      • DC

No, no, no, but remember Ivan can’t see Mitch hidden behind the wall.

        • Holly

          HE didn’t go that far….

      • davefragments

I think Ivan wants to beat the crap out of someone for taking the guard who knows his face.

      • Keneu

Maybe not scared, but he may feel like he has no options and has to go along with what Ivan says.

      • Tyler Griffin

Talk about throwing a brick at a fly(boy) hyuck hyuck

  • Keneu

Great page, it conveys Mitch’s adrenaline rush. He should stop for a moment to think and reevalute his plan. I hope he stopped a moment in mid-air after being shot and Cory could take a look at him, but I think it’s unlikely he recognizes him.

I love Kyle’s preview, he looks so careless and content. And I can’t vote on the next Patreon wallpaper, but I’d love to have a Sircea x Maven one or a Kyle x Spooky one. Battle of sass or feels overload. =D

  • bronakopdin

    Ouch T_T’
Thank god it’s just a grazing shot but still it must hurt as hell >_<'
I actually wonder about Ivan's shooting skills, if think about MItch's speed and all or was it a lucky hit?! Didn't seem so though!
But now I guess our Mitch kinda learns why he shouldn't act all on his own… it's really dangerous 🙁

and with that I'll say goodbye for two weeks as I'm leaving for vacation and won't have an internet connection where I go ^^
looking forward to a bunch of awesome pages when I'm back! 😀

    • Klaus

It must be a lucky shot.

      • Michael

Looks like Ivan’s firing in a wide spread, rather than specifically aiming, so yeah I’d say luck (and strategy!) more than precision or skill

      • bronakopdin

I guess it is ^^’ too bad he was lucky… Paul could get jealous x’D

    • Have a great vacation.

      • bronakopdin

        thanks a lot Danish 🙂

    • Have a great time brona! You will be missed!

      • bronakopdin

only saw this now as I happen to have a connection for a short time, thanks a lot Doki *huggles* I’ll be fully back on Sunday 😀

need to read all the missed pages now though *runsoff*

  • hmm – Ivan didn’t change the direction of his shots while Mitch flew the curve in panel 4 – that could mean he fires instinctively and Mitch is still too fast to be actually aimed at. Obviously, we need a distraction.

  • Clean house and new page ^___^ Mitch… you almost (kind of…) lost a wing Flyboy… what are you going to do now? ;___;

    • Sapfo

Oh no! Mitch is a wingclipped bird! Someone get HM, she can take care of him ^^

      • She can get Ethos to look after him. Ethos is a sweetie and isn’t partners with Cain. ….Not sure how Cain would react to Mitch….and there are way too many options with his personality.

    • Soirbleu

Me too! Just got my house all clean. 🙂

  • DarkJokerOfAmuro

….My GOD that ass of his is incredible!!….*salivates a bit*…uh-I Mean,,,Oh no, he got shot…..aaaah,..

  • TwilightDreamer

*scream* Oh no you didn’t!! >:( ….slow down and think Mitch, you got this.

  • Sapfo

*the alarm goes off* Flyboy is hurt! Mitch is down! Young hero in need for Comfort!
*now sitt down and with for other hero to come with comfort to hurt little bird*

    • Klaus

      Hut but not down.

  • Phyre Storm

Making Ivan use up his ammo actually isn’t a bad idea. Except for, you know, the whole getting shot part.

    • Michael

Reminds me of Izzy from The Mummy Returns

Whatever it is, whatever you need, I don’t care. Forget it, O’Connell. Every time I hook up with you, I get shot! Last time I got shot in the ass! I’m in mourning for my ass!

      • Cydney Sabin

At least Mitch is faster than a dirigible. 😉

        • Michael

But dirigibles are quiet. Real quiet. Perfect for sneaking up on people, which is a very good thing. Unless of course we go with Mitch’s approach: barging in face-first, guns blazing, and getting yourself shot in the ass!

          • Cydney Sabin

Well… shoulder… but yeah, I see your point.

    • Tyler Griffin

I’ll block all of the bullets, with my Meat Shield!

  • Adam Irving

That second panel made me smile a bit, as it reminded me a little bit of something out of Mighty Mouse I used to watch as a kid. It’s that “someone flying straight from left to right kind of thing that I haven’t seen very often in years but used to be more common in older comics. A nice page – the tension!

  • Klaus

What did he expect? Of course Ivan would shoot at him,

    • Madock345

He’s probably used to moving too fast to be a target. Ivan has damn good aim.

That or he’s just inexperienced with actual combat.

      • Michael

Ivan is firing a spread. Don’t need good aim when you cover a wide area.

Also, dammit Mitch! You should have known that once you broke cover they would be expecting you a second time. You’re damn lucky Cory didn’t telekinesis you a new face.

        • Klaus

It does not help that the area is not all that wide.

          • Michael

True, but it gets wider the further away from him the bullets travel.

        • Tyler Griffin

          Corey *Invisible Wall!*
          Mitch *Does the Windshield Splat*

  • Klaus

Can we vote for any character for the milestone reward? Or will there be a list? Humans only, or can we get Anaado or Laampros?

    • Saxon_Brenton

Uh… I definitely remember that the first teamup poster was any character from any of Alex’s comics. I’m guessing that it’ll be the same for the second one.

And, come on people! Different set of characters this time. If you want to see Spooky making out with Anaado, this is your opportunity.

      • Klaus

No. There was a limited list. Laampros e.g. was not on it.

      • Cydney Sabin

I’m definitely up for that! Unfortunately, Alex lists the characters, and last time, he didn’t list Laampros, so it’s entirely possible that Laampros and Anaado won’t be listed. Or it’s also entirely possible that he just forgot about Laampros. So here’s to hoping!

        • Michael

Even if not, Kyle/Spooky or Spooky/Jeff or Mitch/Cory(clean) would still be excellent choices.

Even better, we’re only $470.45 away from the three-way voteable wallpaper! Kyle/Spooky/Deacon, anyone?

          • Cydney Sabin

Fair enough. Although, I see problems (from a story standpoint, not an art one) with Deacon and Spooky being anywhere near each other, seeing as magic and machinery rarely like each other. Although, that might lead to an interesting romance story…

          • Michael

I only didn’t say Kyle/Spooky/Mitch because Mitch is underage and it would therefore have to be clean. Maybe if Kyle sat in as an assistant instructor for Mitch’s kissing lessons with Spooky…

          • Cydney Sabin

Personally, I would’ve made it a “future what-if” scenario. Taking place about five years in the future. I think Mitch would look adorable with a little chin scruff. But that’s just my opinion.

          • Michael

“chin scruff”, is that what you call it over there? We call it “bum fluff”.

Given his power is flight, and he was once an intern at a group called the Cavaliers, I like to think Mitch would try to go for the Fighter Pilot moustache.

            http://goactionstations.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/about-us-5.jpg

          • Cydney Sabin

I don’t think I know anyone that uses “chin scruff” other than me, though I can see why “bum fluff” never made it to the States. It kinda sounds like a butt with wool or lint from a homeless person. As for the Pilot Mustache, I can see a phase where he’d try it out. And probably fail due to not being able to grow a thick enough mustache. I think that might be a comic all on its own.

          • Michael

I want to see young fresh-faced Mitch. I want to see older grizzled Mitch with glorious old-timey moustache. I do NOT want to see the awkward stages between the two. The “Mitchell Cera” look would put the hell in Mitchell.

          • Cydney Sabin
          • Michael

Ah, that could work, although I’ve seen a lot of people get that style terribly, terribly wrong.

          • Would need protection for Mitch….he would get swarmed by girls and guys alike….I wouldn’t feel comfortable confining him to a house so he couldn’t get mobbed, and he cannot fly 24/7/365

          • Klaus

How about the lineup from Spooky’s hat? Amanda, Spooky, Anaalo Anaado?

    • Michael

Congrats on reaching the milestone, everyone! I can’t wait for the poll to go up.

  • I find myself wondering, won’t anyone be curious about Mitch coming in injured? Or does he heal quickly?

    • Klaus

He may be able to hide it,

      • But if one of his team mates slaps him on the arm (as in: hey, good job buddy) he’s going to flinch. Or if he favors it at all.

        • Columbine

He could try coming up with an excuse. I mean he’s not allowed to do superheroics in his off time but he’s allowed to practice. He totally got his arm caught on some branches at top speed-

          • True and that’s a great excuse. But I would think Amanda would know he was lying. 😐

          • Michael

She didn’t know he’d been secret-supering, so she might not pick up on it.

          • That’s true. But I do think she would know something was different. And probably detect the lie if asked directly.

          • Tyler Griffin

Hey Mitch, can you spot me on my bench presses today? Kyle is out perving the alley behind the gay bar gain!

        • Klaus

“Bumped into a sharp corner this morning. Nasty bruise.”

        • Wayne Lunkwitz

          Isn’t this still past revisited?

          • Yes it is. I was just wondering how he was able to hide the injury. It may have just grazed him, but still that would have to be painful. And usually, at least in my case, anything that is injured draws unwarranted attention from the universe. Kinda like after biting your cheek you bite it several more times. Or the times that a horse stomped on my foot, my dog always unerringly would run over that foot.

    • Keneu

If he has other buddies that help him with the vigilante at night thing, he may go to them to treat the wound. Even so, he may be asked why does he have a bandage on his arm.

  • I wonder how much of that “crap” is about getting an injury that could show he’s been out doing unlicenced heroing?

Interesting to see that as soon as Mitch comes through the hole in the wall Ivan does have a rough idea that he should be firing and where to aim. Presumably Mitch does register as a blur even at top speed.

    • Samurai Jack

Confined space and high speed. Even if you don’t see him clearly, Mitch is moving the air around. You’ll feel the breeze. All you have to do is fire at the narrow opening. (And Mitch said he couldn’t use top speed in the confined space… Which is probably a good thing for all of the bystanders)

  • Columbine

Am I the only one thinking of computor rpg strategies at this point? Cos this is looking a lot like ‘archer build’ vs ‘assassin build’ to me.

    • Cydney Sabin

An Assassin build with no stealth and a crapton of speed?

      • Michael

Less “assassin”, more (low-level) Baldur’s Gate 2-style Monk.

Actually, the Monks in Baldur’s Gate 2 were massively overpowered. By level 20 they were immune to poisons, diseases, slowing, non-magical weapons, and status effect charms; had a +7 movement speed bonus; a +3 bonus to all saving throws; a -6 AC bonus against missile weapons; minimum 48% (maximum 78%) resistance to magic; and their hands were classed as a +3 magical weapon dealing 4-23 damage per hit.

Not counting the special moves like Quivering Palm and Stunning Blow, and the fact that they had access to thief skills AND cleric skills and scrolls, including Lay on Hands at a reduced rate.

Getting back on track, I wouldn’t mind if Mitch were a BG2-style monk. he could ‘Lay on Hands’ on me any day.

        • …….Just be careful of where those hands lay until he is 18

      • Columbine

I was thinking more ‘no hp, high damage’ for both of em.

        • Cydney Sabin

          So a Glass Cannon build?

          • Columbine

Which is pretty much the default for rogues, archers and assassins in the games I play so- yeah?

  • Jeldenil

Don’t shoot the Mitch, you jerk. >:-(
Somehow that shot surprised and shocked me and left me incapable to comment for several hours.

  • Diviana

Now that I think of about it. The jacket of Mitch’s costume isn’t very aerodynamic

  • Klaus

Adam said in the interview that he was in the middle of the Flyboy comic. I hope that was not meant literally, as this would mean that we will not get back to the main story this year.

  • Oh man, owie’s right. 🙁 Poor Mitch. And poor someone else if Ivan panics anymore than this. o.O

I wonder if he’ll need Cory’s help to deal with this situation.

Also, curious, but I don’t remember if quick healing abilities were ever mentioned for Flyboy? If Mitch doesn’t have them, how’s he going to explain that bullet graze?

I’m so anxious over this! *bites nails in anticipation until Wednesday*

  • Toli Bera

Oh no! D: He dun runned out of ====Nyoom====. and left DNA behind at a crime scene.

    • Michael

I think I know who stole his nyoom, the two cars that were drag racing on the road outside my place this evening. They had far more nyoom than is ever necessary on a suburban road in wet weather.

      • Toli Bera

ugh. that requires 0% Nyoom. :/

  • Pikinanou

Lol am I the only one who thought that Ivan was in big trouble, as hurting our dear Flyboy would enrage all his fans and especially Doki? I’d run, if I were you, man. 😛

    • Michael

Lol. Next page, a crowd of angry people appear from nowhere and tackle Ivan to the ground, beating him with handbags, bats, etc. and shouting “how dare you hurt our Mitchy-poo!”

And then Flyboy becomes paranoid about a Truman Show-style conspiracy about his life. Last panel of the page, he looks directly into the camera all watery-eyed and begs us to please stop watching him and just leave him alone!

Woah. Breaking the fourth wall in several different ways there.

    • He can run, but just not too far, I just need to put a few finishing touches on the room I am preparing just for him in my lair.

  • Blargh! I’ve been fretting for hours, as I’ve not been able to get online since last night. My parents router is having connection issues and craps out sometimes (luckily they’re getting a new when coming home from vacation, or I’ll refuse to house-sit until they do xD).

Looks like I had a good reason to fret and be worried >.<

I hope Cory will actually step in and do something at some point soon. I hope he realize (or know) who the flying man might be and/or realize that things are going really wrong, and that they'll need to get away from Ivan too.

It's kinda weird, but one of my first thoughts after seeing Mitch get shot was: Wonder how he'll explain that wound to his Amanda/his team.
All of this going FUBAR, and I still have a part of me that worry about keeping his cover and side-'business' a secret. For everyones safety reasons.

    • Jeldenil

Yeah, I had the same line of thoughst about how he’d explain his injury. But considering this takes place in the past and still nobody knew about it in the Truth Or Dare bonus, he must’ve found a way.

      • Oh, this is before the ToD comic? Why did I think it was shortly after? It must be happening very close together in timeline, because it’s taking place shortly before the main arc, but I thought after ToD. I must have mixed them around.

        • Jeldenil

… Uhm, I’m not sure. I thought it was befor ToD. Don’t know why. Hehe.

          • You could be right. Right now I only remember reading it happens before the main arc, but now you have me totally unsure of whether this came before or after ToD.

    • Kate G

      What does FUBAR mean?

      • Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition (Any Repair). It’s an older term.

        • Kate G

Ahhhhh. That must be more of a gaming/civvie term and that’s why I don’t recognize it. I would have said he’s quickly getting into a snafu (Situation Normal: All Fucked Up.) Civvies use it to mean “a chaotic mess,” but it started out as military slang. 😛

          • rgleon9986

Wiktionary says it’s military slang from approximately WWII. EDIT: Also they used it in Saving Private Ryan, but who knows with movies…

          • davefragments

It was a WW2 military term.
Another term that was spawned in war was “clusterfuck” which I think came from the Korean Conflict or Vietnam. IT is used in “Heartbreak Ridge” which was sort-of a war movie.

          • Kate G

AHHHHHHHHHH, see, some military slang goes in and out of current military use. I am a military brat so I know what I grew up with hearing (well, what I WASN’T supposed to hear that is.) FUBAR was definitely one not used when I was little, hence why I thought it was more civvie.

Probably my favorite military slang is “voluntold.” You don’t ever hear that in the civvie world but it’s always heard in the military. That one needs to become popular. I love that word.

          • Michael

I like that one, “voluntold”. It reminds me of a pastry chef I used to talk to, who used to complain about being “volauventeered”, when is when the head chef would “volunteer” them for vol-au-vent duty.

          • Kate G

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that’s not quite what voluntold is.

As my my mom liked to say, the phrase she dreaded most in boot camp was, “Hmmmm, wouldn’t these floors look nice if somebody buffed them?” In military speak, it literally means, “Buff the floors.” It’s probably the most commonly used phrase in boot camp.

Another example used in my house by my parents (mainly my mom), “Wouldn’t it be nice if my dishes were clean?” Order to Me: Do the dishes.

          • Michael

Ah, right. I took it to mean a form of delegation that goes along the likes of “Johnson! Thank you for volunteering for scullery duty!” where the “volunteered” one is left no choice but to accept the task and reply in the positive.

          • Kate G

Nope, although if you look under “voluntold” you will see the example of going to Toys R Us for Toys For Tots.

My favorite phrase that I didn’t hear growing up but I know my parents know is “Breaking it down Barney-style.” There are a lot of phrases I use that civilians understand but I definitely reserve “15 minutes prior to 15 minutes prior” to my house. NO CIVILIAN in my area understands that one!

          • Michael

Interestingly, that’s probably one of the most intuitively understandable one that I’ve seen. 15 minutes before 15 minutes early, or 30 minutes early. The specific original context might be lost on a non-military person who doesn’t operate by ranks and hierarchies, but the general meaning isn’t too difficult to deduce.

          • Kate G

You would think that would be easy to deduce, but apparently not.

          • Michael

I like that one, “Breaking it down Barney-style”, as well. In my previous jobs we used an expression with a similar meaning/connotation, “briefing management”.

There was one time that particularly stands out, when I had to “brief management” about the process of ripping timber in half, so they could understand that the lineal metres of timber purchased does not match up with the lineal metres of timber used/process in the works order.

          • Kate G

The military has a few good nuggets. HA HA HA. Mandatory fun, that one I use a lot. Going to my cousin’s graduation party…that was mandatory fun. *snickers*

Many stories of growing up military. My mom “edited” my first words. It says in my baby book that it was, “ma ma” (or pa pa or something inane like that.) Nooooooooooooo, those were not my first words. My friends, my first words were (everyone take a breath), “fucking Russians.” Thank you, Dad, for teaching me swear words!

          • Klaus

It is also the reason the UNIX crowd uses foo and bar as place holders, as in “To copy a file type cp foo bar, where foo is the name of the file, and bar is the name you want for the copy.”

  • Ninhursag

Mitch does have awesome powers, but I’m glad he’s not invincible and has his weaknesses, it would have been too much to have super healing as well like Wolverine or something.

  • Suhndog

    —- BUNS!

  • Tyler Griffin

Wait, did anyone see Doki last night? Do we need to send out a search and rescue team? Is hot tea, AJ Muffins, and a warm blanky called for?

    • Doki was busy setting up a special room for Ivan.

  • Paul D’Arbonne

Not saying Gordon was right, but this is exactly what he was warning about.

  • Kate G

FLYBOY DOWN! ASSEMBLE THE MINIONS! FLYBOY IS DOWN!

Sorry I have been missing as of late. I got tendinitis in my shoulder and my puppy, Zena, has pulled me through the ringer all week. She had a lump checked out that was later diagnosed as sarcoma (a cancer) and we have been at the vet more than I’d like to deal with that. She’ll be okay as it’s thankfully just localized. She has surgery on Thursday. AND THEN MY CAR (the Kittymobile) DIED! So, we get a new one today.

But, thankfully, YP never lets me down! A beautiful page as always. 🙂

    • *hugs* Things can only get better right? Poor Zena, I hope she feels better soon!

      • Kate G

Yeeeeeeea, but it still takes a toll. I don’t think those nightmares are going away until I know my pup is cancer-free. It makes going to bed an exercise in knocking myself out. Or making sure Zena is next to me so I know she’s physically there. I’m quite attached to her!

        • *hugs*

        • Michael

I’m glad to hear your dog is okay. Warrior Princesses don’t go down easily. 😉 Even if their name is spelled wrong.

          How’s the shoulder?

          • Kate G

Actually, her name isn’t spelled wrong. It’s just a different spelling of Xena/Xenia, which is seen as the more traditional spelling here in America. Xenia/Xena is seen as the more Russian spelling, while Zena is seen more as the traditional Greek spelling from what I know. Zena/Xenia/Xena means “woman” or ” born from Zeus.”

My shoulder is slowly healing. It’s just going to take time. It doesn’t hurt so much anymore. Now I just have a tingling, numbing sensation which means it’s healing.

          • Michael

I was making a joke, I know transliteration of non-English words can often have several variations. Especially so with non-Latin alphabets. see: Pinyin, Wade-Giles, Yale, Gwoyeo, etc. Romanisation systems for Chinese languages.

  • *gives Ivan the death glare* HOW DARE HE HURT MY MITCH???? He is darn lucky that it is only a graze. Though I think Ivan needs introducing to this special little room I have….it will be his new home….

    • Jeldenil

The terrifying version of naughty step.

    • Saxon_Brenton

You’re stressing, Doki. Just keep calm until Flyboy has had the opportunity to prove what a great superhero he is.
After that… Well, I doubt if Ivan is going to be a recurring villain. He can’t hide in the safety of the on-screen spotlight forever.

      • I have no doubts about Mitch. But Ivan made the mistake of injuring Mitch. He needs to be taught a lesson. A lesson that will stick.

        • Not certain Ivan is the sort to learn a lesson. I get the feeling he might be one of those individuals who never takes responsibility for his own actions. What happens to him is always someone elses fault.

          • …..he will learn his lesson in the room I have prepared for him…he might never be seen again, but he will learn his lesson… ^_^

  • Nate

    He shot Mitch. He dies.

(After Doki is through with him, of course. Maybe Spooky can summon a small demon to eat what’s left. 😉 )

    • purplefoxglove

A VERY small demon should suffice 😉

    • Michael

Spooky would need to resurrect him first, although I doubt there would be enough pieces left to resurrect.

      • What pieces?

        • davefragments

Only the tenderest parts for you, darling.

          ooooh,

        • Michael

I’m thinking there might be a smear of blood overlooked in a corner, or a bit of thigh-gristle missed in a drain pipe.

After you and I are finished with him, Spooky would be lucky to have that much to offer to his summoned demon.

          • Now now, that would be utterly careless of me wouldn’t it?

          • Michael

True, but nobody’s completely perfect. It’s easy to be distracted when Mitch needs someone to tenderly bandage his arm and kiss it better.

          • That is why that is taken care of before play time with Ivan. ^_^

  • davefragments

    Gefilte fish news and survey-monkey.
Now that’s good news for the night to begin!

    • Michael

      Hi! How are you today?

      • davefragments

OK. A bit tired but OK. I couldn’t sleep last night and watch a rerun of “Dances With Wolves” to fall asleep.

        • Michael

Nice, fun movie. I love the “white guy is better at nativing than natives” trope, it’s just so absurd.

          • davefragments

The story and even parts of the dialog compare to AVATAR almost word for word and scene by scene.

          • Michael

Oh yeah, where do you think James Cameron got the inspiration? AVATAR is Dances With Wolves mixed with The Last Samurai, mixed with Karate Kid Part 2, and just a little bit of Disney’s Pocahontas.

          • You forgot Ferngully!!

          • Michael

Oh yeah, a good dash of Fern Gully.

          • The moment Avatar came out, I said, Oh look, it’s Fern Gully.

          • Michael

I connected it to Pocahontas before anything else.

          • Well you know, I’m aging myself

          • Michael

Not really. I just hadn’t seen Fern Guly since I was young, whereas Pocahontas had more presence in my youth (mostly due to those preview ads they stuck at the front of Disney VHSes and DVDs)

          • I didn’t watch Pocahontas. I objected to it for some reason. I don’t know why. I was 21. Who knows what went through my mind.

          • Michael

Pfft. You must have been close-minded.

You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You’ll learn things you never knew you never knew

          • Nah, just didn’t appeal, I think.

It took me a long time to see Little Mermaid because the real version she offs herself.

          • Michael

There was only really one or thing worth seeing about The Little Mermaid, and then the internet went and did it better.

          • davefragments

I haven’t watched FernGully. There’s no good reason for that either.

          • Michael

            sacrilege!

          • It’s a common trope really, but yeah, Fern Gully was completely ripped off. The whole forest/home of the fairies in trouble by developers etc. Worker guy gets shrunk and introduced into the society, etc.

          • Michael

There’s more than a few movies that ripped off Fern gully, not all of them worth anything in production or story value. The Ant Bully, for example. Way to take a brilliant concept and reduce it to… that.

          • True.

      • davefragments

Damn this keyboard. someone moved the return key and that posted fast.

        How’s it going with you?

        • Michael

I’m good. Writing a report, listening to Slim Dusty. All is good.

Just finished Camooweal, now onto Pub With No Beer.

          Love me some Slim.

          • davefragments

I’ll listen to Camooweal late tonight.

          • Michael

It’s a great example of the Australian bush ballad. Sad, nostalgic, sombre, and thoroughly old-world Aussie

          • davefragments

We had a few visiting scientists from CSIRO and they introduced me to Swanns and Toohey’s …
            I refused the vegemite tasting.

          • Michael

No matter what anybody tells you, Vegemite is NOT eaten from a teaspoon. Spread on top of warm butter on dark toast is the best way to have it. If someone offers it to you without butter, be suspicious.

          • davefragments

I run away, screaming in terror.
            That’s my defense mechanism.

          • Michael

You need to try it on toast with butter, though. Balanced properly, it’s heavenly.

          • davefragments

Mind if I pass on that?

          • Michael

            NO. ಠﮧಠ

  • stickfigurefairytales

I can’t stick around for camping tonight, since I have to get up early tomorrow to go do some training for work. I might not be able to check in until tomorrow evening, but I hope you guys have fun in the meantime! Don’t let Mitch get killed! (He should be fine, since this takes place before the main comic.)

    • davefragments

Have a good night and some good training.

      • stickfigurefairytales

Thank you! Good night to you too!

    • Good luck with the training. See you tomorrow!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thank you! See you then!

    • Michael

Good luck, and have fun being a Training Stick!

    • Good luck with training sitck sweet!

  • Sapfo

*sneaks in with pillow and blanket under arm*
Can I sleep next to you?

    • Sleep with me Sapfo! We can whisper sweet Johnlock nothings to each other!

      • Sapfo

        ^^zzz

        • Though I was really hoping for a different ending to when John got Sherlock drunk. That was hilarious.

        • I kept waiting, and waiting, and it was looking promising…..and then they had a client show up….

    • There is a soft cushy nest next to me.

      • Sapfo

Alex can tell us a good night story?

        • Hopefully soon!!

          • Michael

It’s up on patreon, if that gives any indication of time.

          • davefragments

            yes

          • Sapfo

I know, that is a very sure sign that it is soon to come….. sooon.

          • davefragments

No thumbnails or pencils or script.
Something weird must be going on.

          • Michael

            The suspense is agonising!

  • Sapfo

Mitch been hurt, and I’m really scared (tired)

  • Sapfo

Admiral Jane you can not read this, but it is an artical about how some people was trying to break the world record on crocheted granny squares ^^

    http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=106&artikel=6244194

    • So many granny squares.

      • Sapfo

        YES! ^^
I been trying to find an artical in english about this, but so far no luck

        • My computer translated it. 🙂

          • Sapfo

oh wonderful translating computer. what would be do without them 😀

          • I know, right!?
