The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Flyboy Bonus Comic—Page 12

198 Comments on The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Flyboy Bonus Comic—Page 12

A flying man!

Woot! We just blasted past another Milestone Goal over at the Patreon Page, and so the Full Monty Spooky Jones Painting by WOODun has just been unlocked!

Here’s the sneak peek for that:

Hitting the $8400/month Milestone Goal means that Patrons (including new Patrons) who successfully complete their pledge for August get sent the link to a digital wallpaper version of the full image. (And $10+ backers will also get sent a link to a high-res version with double the resolution!) This will be in addition to me also sending out links to the super-sexy Deacon-Kyle images as well! This will be your last chance to get access to that Deacon-Kyle painting, the most revealing image I’ve ever commissioned and that Patrons said was “one of the most beautiful pieces of art to come out of your work to date!”

Hitting this Goal also means we’re currently less than $90 away from unlocking the NEXT Milestone Goal — a new sexy, world-spanning pairing of my characters that Patrons will get to vote on! 🙂

There are lots of great benefits to being a Patron (you can see them all here), and you’d really be helping me out if you became one too. If you’re enjoying our work here and would like to see it continue (and would like to get access to all kinds of special benefits — including the most explicit pin-up I’ve ever commissioned!),

please take a moment to watch the video on my Patreon page and consider becoming a Patron.

So! Mitch has gotten Kanya safely out of there. He’s now on his way back to try to rescue Cory. And it looks like Ivan is getting twitchy. What’s Ivan’s next move? Will Flyboy be able to get Cory out to safety as well? And is “whiplash and stuff” worse than whiplash without stuff?

Tune in this Saturday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • stickfigurefairytales

    It’s up!

    • Damn, that was fast. I had just checked Patreon a few minutes ago, and nothing new showed up. Must have been seconds before Alex started uploading. Good catch 🙂

      • stickfigurefairytales

Thank you! I was just refreshing and bam, there it was.

    • Congrats Stick!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        ^___^ Thank you, Doki!

    • davefragments

      Quick catch!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thanks, Dave!

    • Woot!!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        o/ Victory!!

    • Sapfo

Oh look at you. Sweet catching Sticky ^^

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Hee hee. Thank you! 😀

    • *Cough* that’s what she said *cough*… Sorry, you fell into that 😛

  • Hey guys, you’re breaking the security rules. Hard hats amd other safety gear required at all times!

    • stickfigurefairytales

I would love to see them all stop what they’re doing right now and all put on safety goggles.

      • Mitch did 😉

        • stickfigurefairytales

Haha, you’re right! Good work, Mitch.

      • Michael

If Flyboy’s going to be whipping them around at supersonic speeds, they’re going to want goggles at the least.

        • stickfigurefairytales

Nah, I bet that’s part of the “and stuff” that his powers protect against.

          • Michael

That depends, if he’s taking Ivan with him, he might just let go at speed.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Nah, Mitch is too kind to try to hurt the guy for real, even if he is a terrible person. I think he’d consider it for PP and the Annihilator, though.

      • davefragments

With goggles they need wipers like a car. Now that may be only in the south where the mayflies and other bugs swarm int he spring and summer.
No locusts. That’s a Middle Eastern danger.

  • davefragments

A bit of true confessions about how Mitch’s powers work.

  • stickfigurefairytales

Having whiplash protection for people you’re carrying with your flying and super speed powers is awesome.

    • 🙂

    • Michael

That one one of the (few) things I liked about the X-Men:Days of Futures Past movie, where Speedy McDouche specifically supports Younger MagnetMan’s head in preparation for supersonic movement, specifically to avoid whiplash.

A small moment where characters actually recognise that physics are a thing, and the human body has certain design limitations. Ruined immediately after by the scene where Speedy runs fast enough that gravity no longer affects him and bullets are practically still.

At the very least there should have been several sonic booms when he started moving.

      • stickfigurefairytales

Yes, I liked that touch as well. 🙂

  • FlyMan!!

    • Michael

He’s more of a man than Ivan could ever hope to be, anyway.

I swear that wasn’t meant to sound pervy.

  • Does Ivan know about Mitch?

    • stickfigurefairytales

      It sounds like it…

    • I think Ex-team is a general term, and someone flying in and grabbing their prisoner pretty much give their status away xD

    • Phyre Storm

      DOKI IS BACK!!!! 😀

    • Oh hello! You have a new Avatar! I almost didn’t recognise you 😛

  • Ivan is one ugly dude.

    • Phyre Storm

Yep. Awful. And he’s not that good-looking, either.

  • Saxon_Brenton

Silly part of my brain: “An ex-team”? You mean Wolverine and Storm and Cyclops?
Serious part of my brain: It means like Ivan might have figured out that it’s Flyboy.
Silly part of my brain: That can’t be right! Ivan doesn’t even have enough intelligence to keep bystanders from getting a look at his face.

  • Michael

I’ll bet none of them are wearing safety shoes, either.

    • davefragments

BBall shoes that fell off a truck thanks to a large bump

  • Michael

Look at Cory’s face in panel 4 (?) after Diego tells them about seeing the ‘flying man’.

Think Cory’s guessed it might be Mitch?

    • stickfigurefairytales

It’s a distinct possibility, but I’m holding out hope that he just thinks it’s part of an official (adult) team.

      • Michael

I’m choosing to interpret is as a look of fearful recognition.

        • stickfigurefairytales

I like that take on it too.

      • Saxon_Brenton

Yes, that does seem more likely than Ivan somehow figuring out that its Flyboy.
And even though it’d be completely wrong for the mood that we’ve seen so far: I’m suddenly imagining Ivan mentally running through the list of big-name superheroes that fits ‘a flying man who can zoom in fast and rescue a hostage’, making a plausible guess and coming up with good defence tactics based on that guess… But getting it completely (and hilariously wrong) because… Flyboy isn’t a big-name superhero.

    • Could be that. I read it more as fear and wariness. Having and angry guy with a gun grab you.. nope, I’d just want to get away, or in this case, Cory wants to get him and his brother the hell away from there.

  • Sapfo

    Good morning!
New page I see, I was kind of hopping to come by before it was up. But look at Mitch saving people (I hope that is what he is doing) =D

    • stickfigurefairytales

Good morning, Sapfo! Glad to have you here, but I know what you mean. I’m always a bit disappointed when I miss camping.

      • Sapfo

and I been missing if for far to many campings D,:
But I am here now 😀

        • stickfigurefairytales

          Hooray for here now!

    • Good Morning, Ms Strawberry!

      • Sapfo

        Morning Admiral!
I think I need coffee here, I am sinking, Sinking!

        • *Pours super size tankard of coffee* That should help.

          • Sapfo

thank you sweet. Just the kind of enery I need to get to bed again 😉

          • Drat, bed wins again!

          • Sapfo

Honestly, If you go up at 4 am just to be in a camping, the bed will always win. That is a fact.

          • I wish bed had won last night. I spent most of it just laying there waiting for bed to work its magic.

          • Michael

Do not try to get sleep. Instead, only try to realise the truth: there is no sleep.

    • Morning Sapfo dear!

      • Sapfo

Don´t know why I did not get a notice of this comment.
Oh Dear Doki, good evening/night/morning/noon/afternoon on you to! <3

  • davefragments

I have a feeling that Ivan is going to take out his frustrations on someone and I think that Cory knows that too.

  • stickfigurefairytales

All right guys, I’m going to head off to bed so that I won’t be too tired for work tomorrow. See you all later!

  • jreed3842

*sigh* I always seem to miss camping for the Wednesday updates!
But…. anyway… Another wonderful page as always! 🙂

    • davefragments

      bummer dude

  • Ugh, waking up at 2.45 has caught up with me. I’ll go relax on the couch until I can call in sick in 45mins. My hopes of being able to sleep it off, and go back to work today, is so not happening.
G’night all. At least I got a great page to cheer me up some 🙂

  • Adam Irving

It was good news getting the Patreon email today about the milestone goal. Woot! Not that we (okay, collective we of me and myself, but possibly others) contribute for the milestone goals, but it sure is nice you’ve kept them going. Some artists might have only set a few and left off after a big one. You, however, keep things going, keeping people interested, and letting at least one patron feel continually good about that giving, little though it might be. Thanks a ton for being not only a good artist and a good storyteller, Alex, but also a swell all around guy!

    • Thank you so much for the very kind words, Adam. They mean a huge amount to me.

Certainly one reason I come up with these Milestone Goals is as a way to keep generating interest in the Patreon, but when I’m thinking them up, I’m always trying to come up with things that would benefit all Patrons, things that would make being a Patron even more fun, for Patrons both old and new alike. That you’re feeling I’m doing a good job with that, and that what I’m doing makes you happy to be a Patron, means a lot to me.

Y’all have changed my life, you’ve made it possible for me to keep making these comics, and I feel very grateful. Thank you very much for taking the time to let me know how you felt. 🙂

      • Michael

        Y’all have changed my life

You’ve given us a reason to get up on Saturdays. 😀

I really enjoy this comic, not just for the story and aertwork (although both are amazing) but for the community you’ve built and maintained around it. So many other webcomics I’ve seen either don’t allow comments, or only talk to their fans via news bulletins. They’re static mediums with clear divide between creator and audience, where comics are posted, or not, at the artists’ pleasure, and interruptions, hiatuses (hiatii?) and “sorry, I’m at a convention” fillers are commonplace.

What you’ve basically done is turned all of those webcomics stereotypes on their heads by producing professional-quality, subtle, nuanced and highly detailed stories, characters, artwork, etc.; by sticking to a strict regular posting schedule regardless of real-life happenings; and by presenting it in a format that only only allows extensive discussion and fan-artist interaction, but encourages it to an unprecedented degree.

People can see the dedication in yourself and the others, and the open, accepting community that you have encouraged, and that karma returns right back at you in positive feedback.

I came here for the comics, but stayed for the community.

        • Thank you, Michael. I’m glad you feel that way. The community here is very special to me. 🙂

    • Michael

      Hear, hear!

  • Jeldenil

‘The ex-team’ sounds like a crossover between MTV and Marvel. Drama, drama! 😀

    • Michael

A team made entirely of failed romantic partners? That WOULD be dramatic. o.O

      • Jeldenil

I have so much silly-dramatic narrative voice over for this in my mind… ‘Hero A is not over hero B yet, but B has moved on and is now trying to get into hero C’s pants. Meanwhile, hero C’s ex, hero D, complains about C’s failure to cooperate, just like the old days. Hero E is fed up with everyone and considers leaving the team, unaware that hero F plans a proposal. Will hero A’s notorious jealousy disrupt the team even more? Find out in next week’s ex-team episode.’

  • Phyre Storm

Raise your hand if you’re ready to see Ivan get his ass kicked and then thrown in jail.

    *raises both hands*

    • davefragments

I hope so … but I think Ivan is going to do some things that are very bad.

      • Phyre Storm

Yeah, I’m hoping I’m wrong about that too. Cory will probably make it, but I give Diego a 50/50 chance of surviving this whole mess.

        • Michael

If Cory didn’t survive, Mitch would have had a much more sombre secret for the Truth & Dare comic.

        • davefragments

I think he holds a grudge. So someone gets smacked around or beat up today but in a week or so, Ivan comes back and has another session because something else went wrong. The logic is that this failed and that’s someone else’s fault and that started a cascade of failures that were not his fault.

  • Klaus

It is an ex-member of a team.

    • Michael

Or a member of a team that was de-registered.

      • Klaus

Flyboy has been kicked off a team.

        • Michael

No he hasn’t, he’s just resting. Got tired from all the moving he was doing earlier. He’s — he’s stunned! You stunned him just as he was waking up. Flying superheroes stun easily, major.

  • Angelo Ventura

This is all very good, but what of the original storyline?

    • Phyre Storm

It’ll be back. Sometimes our muses just don’t feel like cooperating.

    • Michael

This is a planned “bonus” that occurs at the end of every chapter. The previous ‘truth or dare’ bonus was added purely to allow the artists to build up a backlog of pages for the next chapter, so that they’re not scrambling to get pages finished on time every few days.

The original story will return with the next chapter, once this bonus comic is finished.

Bear in mind, the artists could simply have gone on hiatus, instead of providing us with yet more wonderful stories and artwork (that had already been finished for the Kickstarter backers).

      • Angelo Ventura

I understand. I like the bonus episodes, and loved “Truth or dare”.

  • TwilightDreamer

    uh oh…be careful Flyboy….

  • Aitsuki

OH boy…. Mitch, sweetie, be on high alert!! That psycho is about to just shoot everyone!

  • bronakopdin

seeing Ivan in all those panels and even remembering him from past ones I wonder if he’s able to have any different kind of expression on his face than “ubber-angry” xD
Well of course the situation is dire for them however it turned out but still he seems to be really on edge there… :/

So Mitch plans to keep Cory out of it… but as it seems Cory is closer to his brother Diego now, at least closer than he was 3 years ago… so I wonder if he’ll be alright with being the only one kept out of it… I forsee a little fighting between them here… or maybe he doesn’t even want to be pulled out there as he must have a reason to help them out… we still don’t know what they are even wanting from that safe and even if it’s “just” money then we don’t know what they need it for so badly 🙁 I fear it’s some medical bills or something along those lines >_<' maybe a relative is sick or something

  • Columbine

I can’t help wondering if the smart thing would have been to grab the guy with the gun instead and leave him on a roof. I understand the instinctive thing to do is take the guard out first cos she had a gun pointing at her- but may be removing Ivan would have been smarter.

    • Yes and no. I see the logic in that thought too, but at the same time this is someone already riled up – and armed. Grabbing Ivan could have meant he pulled the trigger by instinctive reaktion. Who knows where that bulley would go.
However, now he’s still back with Cory and Diego, warned and armed. Guess it was a choice of two evils.

      • Columbine

Yeah. And it’s a lot easier to pick over a split-second decision like that when you don’t have to make it in a second. I don’t think I could be a superhero, too much second-guessing and guilt when things go wrong.

        • KatKaleen

True, Mitch already said that his first thought is to get innocent people out of danger. He can deal with the bad guys later.

  • kamishiro

OH MY BABEYYY BE CAREFULL !!

  • Pikinanou

    Dat Flyboy close-up! <3

  • Derkins

ugh. bad dude is bad news.

  • Interview today at 3:00 P.M. PST on Facebook

The Young Protectors penciler Adam DeKraker and I are being interviewed over at the Queer Sci Fi discussions page on Facebook at 3:00 P.M. PST today (less than 3 hours away).

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/qsfdiscussions/

I’m really looking forward to this. If you get a chance, please stop by and say hi! 🙂

    • It was very fun to attend. Thank you to both Adam and you for doing it. Some different questions besides the ‘usual’ ones you so often get, and nice having Adam chime in 🙂

      • It’s actually a lot of fun doing a Q&A with Adam, especially in person. He really does feel like a brother from another mother to me.

Thank you so much for attending! It was great having you there!

    • davefragments

      Good chat. Very enjoyable.

  • Jason Moon

Trust the twitchy f*$ker to screw up the plan…

  • blkwhtrbbt

So how does Patreon work? Every time you post, you have to post to this website as WELL as the patreon site? What if you started mid-comic? With previous pages hosted somewhere? Do you have to start from the beginning again? Or would the posts on Patreon just be incomplete?

    • While Patreon is great for many things (and has made a huge difference in my life), it’s not designed as a webcomic publishing platform. I post the pages there first as a special treat for my Patrons (along with the pencils and script pages for each update), but this is where folks should come to read sequential comic pages. The posts on Patreon are incomplete in the sense that I only started posting them when I launched the campaign in January of this year, and even if they were all up there from the beginning, reading more than webcomic page at a time is a lot more pleasant here. 🙂

      • blkwhtrbbt

        Gotcha. Thanks.

  • The Q&A over at the Queer Sci Fi Facebook group was a lot of fun. You can read the “transcript” in the comments under this post:

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/qsfdiscussions/permalink/398616863618597/

  • Ninhursag

Mitch seems like such an adult on this page. Maybe because he’s not around his team, where he’s the youngest. Having the story centred on him makes him look like a complex person, not just a “kid”.

    • Mitch was never “just a kid” but is always treated like one by his team.

      • Ninhursag

        That’s what I’m saying.

      • KatKaleen

You’re both right. I think the fact that he’s acting alone in this makes him look more mature. *jailbaitalarm*

  • Bookworm51485

Wouldn’t it have been better to take the dude with the gun out of the picture and away from everybody…?

    • KatKaleen

That is actually a good question. Uhm… I really don’t know. It was kinda obvious that Ivan would turn on Cory and his brother… he still has the weapon, just taking that away on a fly-by would have given Kanya a chance to get the upper hand. The lady is tough, I trust her to fold Ivan like a blanket if he didn’t have a gun. I really don’t know.

  • Klaus

A tale of danger and romance. The danger is obvious, but where is the romance? I fear it may be several months before we get to see who Duncan kills first. Or more likely, what happens to prevent him killing anybody.

    • Cory gives Mitch a very thankful and adrenaline fueled kiss after Mitch saves him?

  • Diviana

Mitch’s powers wear off once he stops touching something right? If so the guard’s ankle is going to hurt from landing on it awkwardly.

    • KatKaleen

But what is a broken ankle compared to a bullet through the head?
Alas, dear ankle, I knew ye well…

  • bronakopdin

too bad that I can’t read the interview without FB but it must really have been fun 😀

    • KatKaleen

Same here, I’d love to read it, but I was creeped out by FB when I first signed up. They gave me friend suggestions of people that I had never even talked to online, people I only knew from real life. Scary. No, thanks, nothing to do here.

      • bronakopdin

I have similiar reasons for not even signing up 🙂

        • KatKaleen

And THAT’S even more scary, I cannot delete my FB account, it’s still there, waiting… biding its time… ready to be reactivated at any moment. GAH!

          • bronakopdin

yeah they actually mention this in their TOS that accounts are “undeletable in case someone decides later to re-join” you don’t want to know how many accounts of dead people there are ^^’
as a German who was still born in the former GDR (though only months before the German wall fell) for me FB sounds a lot like the former StaSi…

          • KatKaleen

Oh hey, I’m from Germany too! 😀
But I was about 8 when the wall fell, I remember it well, it was the first time my parents let me stay home alone and I watched the news and saw people going through the Brandenburder Tor and I thought “Kathrin, remember this, this is history”. Awesome.

          • You want to be even more creeped out? Well, if the answer was no, too bad 😉

Facebook is far from the only site that should creep you out. Almost every app you have should do that. You know those things you say oki to when you downloaded an app on your phone/tablet? If you have more than a few (which pretty much everyone has) then at least 4-5 of them actually has permission to access your photos, video, chats, contacts, and maybe even your phones camera/microphone (as in allowed to turn them on/record your convos and where you are) … and you gave them the permission to it. Even if you now remove an app, they still are allowed to keep all data they have from you.
And we don’t even talk platforms like Facebook here. We talk pretty much every app you have. Many don’t even need the info but you allowed them to take it anyway when you accepted and downloaded the app. And they use itto give ad-developers

Feel like your private life is still private? You shouldn’t xD

          • bronakopdin

ha! Awesome indeed 😀 you could already tell at that young age, eh? It was similiar with me at 9/11 but I was already 12 there ^^’

  • davefragments

I think that this is a link to Alec and Adam’s INTERVIEW that isn’t Facebook.
QSF currently has three Interviews. Alex and Adam are the middle one. There are two links — one on QSF and the other on Facebook.

    http://queerscifi.com/interviews/

I say “I think” because I can’t logout of Facebook and still post on Disqus.

    • Yes, it’s there. Just click the link, and then click the headline -not the FB link when you reach the interview that comes up. Then you go around getting on FB.

    • Klaus

      Thanks

  • Klaus

This is what Wikipedia has to say about Stucky

    Stucky may refer to:

    13211 Stucky, a main-belt asteroid

Galen D. Stucky, an American inorganic materials chemist

Janaka Stucky, an American poet and publisher

Robb & Stucky Interiors, a defunct home furniture retailer

Palazzo Grassi, also known as Palazzo Grassi-Stucky, an edifice in the Venetian classical style located on the Grand Canal of Venice

Scott W. Stucky, an appeals court judge from Kansas

    Steven Stucky, an American composer

Which one is refered to in the interview?

    • Neither xD

Stucky is the callname for the Steve/Bucky shipping (Capt. America). It’s a huge fandom thing right now. There’s a whole fandom of various Avengers shippings, but Stucky is one of the biggest. Before Stucky it was Stony (Steve/Tony), but then came then came another Capt. America movie, and that’s where it all went *lol*

Mmmmm… Stucky. There’s so much yummy fanart out there.. I can’t even..

      • Terri Sutton

        Is Stucky sticky?

        I’m so juvenile.

  • purplefoxglove

    On the last page:

Me: “I’m worried about the possible whiplash.”
    Alex: “Nope.” *posts new page*

He really has everything covered, doesn’t he? 😀

  • Sapfo

Friday is now over here, camping is soon starting.
I will be sleeping when the next page comes up, so I wish you all happy camping ^^

  • Hey @alexwoolfson:disqus , I sent you an ask on tumblr a number of days ago. Did you receive it? I haven’t found an answer to it and we’re running out of time for August.

    • Sorry, I didn’t see that message (and now it looks like Tumblr is having security issues and Chrome isn’t allowing me to respond there.)

Since this is about Patreon, could you please email me using the Patreon Messages system?

      Thanks!

Thinking thinky type thoughts: Hugo Awards eligibility for Young Protectors vol.1

I’ll get straight to the point. After the recent Puppies controversy with the 2015 Hugo Awards, I randomly wondered what parts of the Young Protectors story would be eligible. After I checked the .pdf I realised that the copyright date is specifically 2015, to coincide with the deadtree release rather than the Sept 2014 e-copy release.

So, yeah. There’s an obvious conclusion here. It’s possibly a bit pie in the sky, but just roll the thought around in your heads to savour it.

Now, Alex has reported good sales of paper copies at recent conventions. Nevertheless the book itself isn’t slated for actual bookstore release yet. (My google-fu can only find Alex’s announcement of (northern hemisphere) ‘Spring 2015′. And… there’s not much more information out there. Searching by ISBN gives listing on only a small number sites (including a release date of 2025 on Goodreads that I was darkly amused by…) There isn’t even pre-release information on Amazon.com, which may show my biases but which seems out-of-character of them.

So, just spitballing questions, but when the bookstore release happens, do we want to do an awareness campaign? Not a ballot stuffing exercise, since that was the Puppies’ tactics. (And as the Hugo faq notes, excessive campaigning has been known to backfire.) But an attempt to make people aware of this in preparations for when nominations start.

  • davefragments

I just realized that it is Friday Night.
    Where have I been today?
Why has the day been so long and so short all at once?
    Sigh!

    • Saxon_Brenton

Ha! Whereas I’m wondering where the Saturday morning went. I’ve been doing prep-reading for the game I’m playing in this afternoon, and haven’t had time to do the regular Saturday shopping. Maybe I’ll stop at the supermarket on the way home.
Oh well, I hope you have a good camping.

      • davefragments

I don’t have to food shop tomorrow. Yay for me.
I will have a good camping (and why you ask)
Because a) new page and b) Great Performances is playing the Grieg Piano Concerto on the TV and the world is forgiven all its faults and troubles in those big opening chords of the first movement.

  • Tyler Griffin

*singsong voice* Friday Night! Friday Night! Wonderful Night! Friday Night!

    • davefragments

      Hi Tyler.

      • Tyler Griffin

        Hello Dave!

  • Hello Everybody!!

    • davefragments

      Hi Jane.

      • I kept forgetting it was Friday.

        • davefragments

Me too. It was one of those Fridays that I thought was Saturday.
(damn keyboard is too small tonight)

          • It still doesn’t seem like Friday and the sun is just about set.

          • davefragments

It’s been quiet here after the friend that woke me by banging on the door woke me up early and hone left at lunch. Disrupted the entire day.

          • Visits from friends and family have that tendency to disrupt everything. 😀

          • davefragments

I only growled once and then I made a dash for the caffeine and the sugary cereal. After that, I was nice. I swear. I wouldn’t lie about that.

added: the Vienna Philharmonic on PBS is playing Wiener Blut and I am lilting softly and gently.

          • Haha! I believe you. 😀

    • Tyler Griffin

      Hello Admiral!

      • How has your day been, sir?

        • Tyler Griffin

I didn’t spend it digging a ditch and taking down a metal carport, so much improved over last Friday

  • Holly

I GOT A NEW POWER CORE FOR MY BIRTHDAY! Your favorite bio andriod cyborg who likes AJ’s muffins is here!
(I MISSED YOU ALL. And yes, yesterday was actually my birthday.)

    • Happy Birthday Holly!

      • Holly

Thank you. My friend gave me duck tape.

        • There is always a use for duct tape

          • Holly

They found Duck Tape brand Duct Tape that had Hello Kitty on it.
so that was part of my gifts

          • Ha! Even more useful.

    • Sapfo

      Happy birthday Holly! ^^

    • Happy birthday.

    • Happy belated birthday Holly love! *hugs* It is good to see you again! *hugs* You have been greatly missed!

I wonder if Ivan is going to grab a hostage and hold tight to prevent some “ex-team” member (he doesn’t know who) from yanking him away?

    • Tyler Griffin

One does wonder. It’s seems like this isn’t his first job to be interrupted by his reaction.

      • davefragments

I hadn’t thought of that. I sort of knew it but it hadn’t entered my thoughts. (don’t ask. I’m having to proof read 70K words again and I’m a little thought deprived).

      • Holly

One would assume in a world of powered people, Ex-teams break up a lot of stuff like this. Especially if it ramps up like this.

        • Tyler Griffin

I have wondered that frequently since TYP first started, in this world “Super Heroes” are basically federal agents. Do they actually do the Batman Patrolling the City schtick? Or is involvement in things like this considered a liability risk unless a super villain is involved?

          • Holly

I don’t know if they patrol the city. But I feel like they would have a major crimes division keeping an eye on Mob bases.

          • Tyler Griffin

It would make sense, but then there would by jurisdiction issues with the regular cops, and peeing contests between the levels, or at least there would in the real world, and that brings me right back to “So how DO they handle it?” Maybe the cops have the Red Batphone for just such an occasion?

          • Holly

            yes definitely. The Red Phone

  • Holly

Thanks it was my Champagne birthday. But being the classy creature I am, I drank pink spumante. It was 9.99. >_>

    • davefragments

      The night they invented spumante?
      Different, but good.

  • davefragments

y’all are going to be screaming in a few minutes

    • Holly

      why?!

      • davefragments

        start looking

  • davefragments
