Nothing like a little air support…

There’s less than 16 hours left to take advantage of the LGBT Pride Month Humble Bundle promotion that includes the e-book version of Artifice, along with over $320 worth of other LGBT comics, ebooks, and audiobooks in support of the It Gets Better Project. Check out my notes on page 43 for more information, but it’s an awesome deal for a good cause. I got my Bundle. You should definitely snap yours up before it’s too late!

So! Looks like Flyboy is going to take care of the minions. Now all the team has to do is defeat The Platinum Priestess, and they are home free. Easy, right?

Tune in this Saturday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • ZOOOM!!

    • davefragments

      Wow are you fast.

      • I wasn’t sure I got it. I typed a response on the other page, clicked my bookmark and blammo there it was!

  • Here comes Mitch!

    • Klaus

Here comes the Mithc. Here comes the Mitch.
And I say it’s all right.

Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces

Little darling, it seems like years since he’s been here

Here comes the Mithc. Here comes the Mitch.
And I say it’s all right.

  • davefragments

I think those in Mitch’s hands minions are in for a sudden SPLAT! like that Road Runner Dude when he ran off a cliff.

    • Stephen Hutchison

Nah. Mitch’ll just dump ’em off in the distance.

Someone needs to free the victims.

      • timemonkey

He should throw them at Sircea. I fun game of ‘catch the minion’ after bear wrestling.

        • But she might play Dodgeminion….

          • timemonkey

            Also fun!

          • ….not for the minions….unless they have a “Gonzo” type personality…

          • timemonkey

Well, they should have thought of that before they became minions.

  • …..Doki makes assorted Mitch is precious comments.

    • Chris Dangerfield

      Noooooeeeeeeee…. really? HA!

      • At the time I couldn’t think one to properly express my feelings, his preciousness and action overwhelmed my ability to leave a suitable comment. Everyone knows how I gush over Mitch, so I felt they could imagine what my poor overwhelmed by Mitch brain would say. ^_^

  • stickfigurefairytales

Flyboy is better, the Cavs are the NBA Champions, and everything is wonderful for just one moment.

    • Chris Dangerfield

NPR reported that the celebration of the win is bigger than Carnival in Rio. NOW THAT IS BIG! 😀

  • Earl Patterson

Need to kiss Mitch’s back to speedy heal!

  • Eris, elder daughter of Nyx

No, not easy. This is the Platinum Priestess we’re talking about! She who just banished Fuzzy-the-not-a-bear to we-know-not-where!

    *hides under her desk*

    • davefragments

The Platinum Princess is puffing. Age is getting to the old gal.

      • After that load of gymnastic tricks, even the most fit youngster would be huffing and puffing 🙂

        • davefragments

yeah, but I just wanted to be mean to her.
          😉

          • Chris Dangerfield

… and some of us love you for that effort! 🙂

  • syllibub

Hair status post-Not-Bear: dramatic and flawless. I wonder how Duncan’s is doing…

    • I was just wondering about the scoundrel! I will be surprised if he has a hair out of place. Despite being exploded

      • syllibub

Pretty sure his ‘do would survive a nuclear blast.

        • It’s been shellacked with supervillain super strength hair goop. Although I don’t know if he would use a product with the word goop in it.

          • davefragments

That was sold under the label “Dippity Doo”

          • I don’t know if he would use something with that name either. 😀

          • davefragments

The first hair spray in a can for men was named “ballz” because that said “butch assurance” to all those straight guys.

          • HA! Sigh….

      • bronakopdin

maybe it all burned off? Bald Duncan…

        • I’m trying to imagine that. 😀

          • bronakopdin

closest I found to his face
            http://i.imgur.com/FmCteQ7.jpg

          • Ha! Goldberg! YES!

          • bronakopdin

So he’s called Goldberg? I randomly googled, no clue who he is x’D funny you know him even! 😀

          • I followed wrestling for awhile when I was younger. 😀

    • Klaus

He does not have much length, at least in that.

  • syllibub

Meanwhile, I hope these guys are keeping an eye on the clock.

    • Chris Dangerfield

Oh you WOULD bring that up. Ulp!

  • The irony. After having wished him things that almost equal the wrath of mythological gods, I can’t help wonder/worry a little about what happened to Duncan. If he’s oki. Can see, and got proof on previous page, that Sircea is fairly oki, so no wondering about that villain. What happened with that bomb blast? Must knoow.

Worry about Paul and Spooky too, but didn’t cuss them out earlier, so that’s different.

  • My poor precious Mitch being all precious while looking like he should be the one getting help.

His costumers are going to give him the “I am not very impressed” look when he gives them this set to fix. Both outfits needing repairs in under 24 hours? They are probably going to have a chat with him about doing his best not to get hit bad enough that he practically needs a new outfit and then try to design a better outfit for him, with the possibly help of Spooky test it against magic.

    • *sigh* .. ‘There’s no reason to try and cover the tears in the clothe with suit colored bruises. You got spares. Just please try not ro ruin them all at once’.

      • Chris Dangerfield

So true (sigh). No one suffers like the costume, makeup and hair departments… :/

  • camelotcrusade

You know, panel 2 has enough cultists for a volleyball team. Mitcht has first draft, I see. Good picks!

    • Chris Dangerfield

IKR? The cultists are like whack-a-moles. They just keep popping back up. (sigh)

  • Mir

Oh my god, the second panel for some reason I thought to myself “oh my god, Flyboy’s wings were torn off!”

    I’m just so dumb lol.

    • He’d make a cute fairy.

(NO, Chris. No double puns here – I knew you’d otherwise point it out xD )

  • Sapfo

    Let’s go fly a kite
    Up to the highest height!
Let’s go fly a kite and send it soaring
    Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
    Oh, let’s go fly a kite! ^^

    • Klaus

      Let’s go fly a boy
Up to the highest … something

      • Sarah Lebowicz

        Let’s go fly a boy
        Oh it’s such a joy
Let’s go fly a boy, in his arms soaring
        Up through the atmosphere
Up where the air is clear
Oh, let’s go fly a boy!

  • Cman65

JUst drop a house on PP that worked on her sister

  • Why do I have this image of Fluke in only strategic tatters of his suit handing w-a-a-y high on the beanstalk, looking for a way to get down?

  • Saxon_Brenton

After all that I’ve gone on about Tsunami needing to take out the wires on the auto-execution device, that first panel (with the YP fighting minions and the Priestess about to rise up and do general smiting type stuff) is an image that just *bodes*. Nice to see Flyboy being the one keeping an eye on the overview, but then his eagle vision is why Commander appointed him to the job.

  • Yes, time to take out PP while she’s still exhausted and a little off balance. Fighting PP, they have to use any hint of an extra advantage, and this may be one, also with Anni being knocked down and hurt.

  • EMR has updated! http://elanmeetsrafa.com/the-comic/ch29pg3/ It is almost NSFW? maybe?

  • timemonkey

Come on guys, whoop her ass!

  • Jeldenil

    Minion cleanup in aisle 3!

    • TwilightDreamer

Haha! Does Mitch get employee of the week for this? 😛

      • Jeldenil

Yes, and 15 minutes of free groceries.

        • TwilightDreamer

          wahoo! XD

  • TwilightDreamer

YAAAAYYYY!!! Welcome back to the rumble Mitch! 😀

  • Shiny Gwilly

i’m sure PP is tired at this point or at least getting tired, and just going against her now is definitely easier than taking on the duo again
…..but how is Anni faring anyway? and what about Fluke? was he shielded just enough from the blast?
but we’ll get back to that soon, i’m sure
GO MITCH, BUT BE CAREFUL MITCH

  • Whee! Flyboy up and flying again!

Nice to see a rear view of Tsunami’s tattoos in action. Some beautifully detailed art on this page, inclduing those.

  • Klaus

It looks like he is flying straight towards PP. That might be a good idea.

  • bronakopdin

I have to appreciate all the nice butts on this page again 🙂

So Mitch seems fine enough to help, good job Spooky! Now let’s see you healed, too, OK?
Also hoping that Paul is fine, and curious how much damage Duncan took exactly…

Also somehow it feels like Mitch is flying in Sircea’s direction? hope it won’t be an issue… or maybe he plans to drop those minion like bombs on her? x’D

    • He’s not flying towards PP. Between the last two panels the reader view switch (see how Kyle and Tsu changed side), so he’s flying them towards the forrest in panel 1 background, in direction towards the river.

We know how Flyboy likes to drop people in water 😉

Edit: now having read the page script, yes, towards the river it is 🙂

      • Klaus

But where is PP in relation to the river?

        • The whole clearing is close to the river. You can see it here in panel 2: http://webcomics.yaoi911.com/typ/ete-ch3-page-66/

You can see the tiny bone circle and the glass box. PP is next to the circle, the team next to the box, and Mitch is flying in between them, past the box – away from the circle. The big river is just across the trees, not that far away.

  • amusingmurff

Is that tiny stream of smoking machinery beyond the sentient beanstalk all that remains of our Best Friend v Boyfriend encounter?

    • Klaus

It would seem so. But where are the remains of the two people mentioned?

      • amusingmurff

My worry exactly. Could be dangling from our tentacled friend – or lying near the blast radius in ruggedly burned and ripped costumes. Maybe both!

        • Klaus

Is Woody out of it? Getting a single branch torn off is usually not much of a problem for a tree.

  • amusingmurff

Amanda in panel 3…. Dat Ass

  • Did Mitch get all the minions? I hope he dumps them in the river to be swept down stream! They could probably use the bath.

    • Chris Dangerfield

Those robes don’t stand up to this kind of sweat and blood.

  • Nate

    It’s Mighty Mitch!

“Here I come, to save the day!”

    😀

    • Chris Dangerfield

HA! I know you sang that. 🙂

  • Wildroses

I think Mitch has the right idea. Sircea’s the real threat, she is pissed, and she is able to give her undivided attention now. She’s going to need a tag team.

  • Kit the Coyote

See that why they should have shopped at Minions R Us, they have a tear-away hood robe designed for just this situation.

  • Jason Moon

Why does this scene make me think of an awesome-as-hell side-scroller fighting game like Street Fighter II or Double Dragon? Is it because I am so f&$king old that I’ve actually played them. (Hell, replace our heroes with the TMNT and the mooks with Foot Clan ninjas and you’d have… the TMNT arcade game with altered graphics. Sigh.

    • Sarah Lebowicz

I’m not that old, and I play Street Fighter. My favorite one is Street Fighter III though.

    • bronakopdin

if say that, I feel really old with my 27 (next month) x’D
Street Fighter II was my first video game, I got my brother’s SNES as he was bored by it (seriously!) and I wasn’t even going to school… couldn’t read… and as back then games weren’t dubbed yet I had no clue what they’re talking even x’D
      Still I loved it ^^

      • A few years ago, when my younger sister was still in the house, she had an SNES and the Aladdin game. Despite being extremely rusty, I still beat it in an hour. She then declared her hatred of me….again. Though my older sister kicked butt on the Mario Bros games. -_- I was very disgruntled every time I had to ask her help.

        • bronakopdin

          x’D
my siblings are significantly older than me (12 and 14 years older) so I was kinda inferior to them all the time anyway ^^’
In fact I nearly grew up as an only child as they moved out for education soon so I couldn’t even ask anyone x’D

  • Vaira

Was it mandatory for minions to look identical?
Requirements: male, white, bald, shaven, no visible birth marks, dark brows, regular face shape. Nose and brow shape may vary. A bit.

    • Maybe they are clones…

    • Stephen Hutchison

Cultists. Whether or not they look that much alike, once they’re on the Cult Training Regimen and have their heads shaved and get stuck in itchy, itchy burlap robes, they’re pretty much indistinguishable.

    • Saxon_Brenton

I think there was a group of them earlier in the chapter where some where older/more craggy faced than others, and one had a scar. But apart from that I suppose clones is the half-joking sensible answer.

However, another option that just occurred to me is that they weren’t really that similar, and have been magically altered to just look like bald white dudes. If this were some sort of dodge of being scrutenised by law enforcement, it might even include identical fingerprints. If it were some sort of magical ritual reason, then who knows where the similarities run too. (“Hey! These minions all have their internal organs mirror reversed.”)

      • Klaus

Or it could be a side effect of the rituals they have taken part in.

      • Vaira

        My paranoia approves 🙂

    • D. G.

      Thx doki.

  • D. G.

Yay Mitch is in the fight! Maybe typ can get the upper hand back.

  • Sapfo

Summer solstice was a few days ago and today it´s midsummers eve here. So Happy midsummer to all of you! ^^

    • Happy Midsummer to you! Watch out for the fairies! 😛

      • Sapfo

But I really want to dance with them, magic is strong today ^^

        • Just don’t eat any of their food? Or follow them home!

          • Sapfo

No worries there. I made food to last me and a army for a few weeks.

    • To you too. Hope you don’t get drowned, like a lot of the Sankt Hans evening was here yesterday. Many places celebration got cancelled, or didn’t go well because it rained heavily and/or the fires couldn’t be lit.

  • PATREON PEOPLE.
If you haven’t yet, you should go look at Alex’ newest post (also sent as email) with ALL new TYP art – not shown anywhere before.

Hoooly moly!!! Both Tsunami, Kyle and Spoooky. Yeah, Spooky *fans self* uhmm… I mean, I knew Spooky was well endowed… but.. SEEING it is more than a figurative inner image xD

    • davefragments

      oh yes!

  • Keneu

I always forget to ask because I get distracted with the new pages and the comments – Alex, do you have any other works published apart from Artifice, TYP and the oneshot you used to teach yourself how to write a comic?

    • I can’t speak 100% for Alex, but since he hasn’t mentioned anything at any time that I can remember, so think answer is no.

    • I have a couple chapters of a comic called Tough that you can get my joining my mailing list, but due to abandonment by the artist (and my current commitments to The Young Protectors) it’s on hiatus with no specific date to re-focus on it.

Also, on Patreon, I have a few prose short stories that give background info on Spooky Jones. And I enjoyed working on them so much, there will likely be more prose works in the future.

      Hope that helps! 🙂

      • Keneu

        Thanks a lot!

  • Hello? Anyone here? I’m usually not the first to open the camp 🙂

    • davefragments

      How is it going?

      • Hi Dave. For a minute I wondered if I had woken up early on the wrong day, but quickly agreed with myself that I wasn’t *that* tired 😉 Yesterday was the day I would have loved yo have missed (the Brexit).
Europe is going to be ‘fun times’ for a while.

        • davefragments

Brett has been on the news constantly for almost 24 hours. It is certainly causing one grand mess.

        • SatW posted a link to one of their old comics about Scotland leaving England and joining them. I love that comic. Thanks to whoever introduced it to me.

          • I saw that. I remembered it from first posted. SatW is good.

    • Sorry, I meant to make a post and then I just kind of…forgot?

    • Morning Ms. Wolf

  • davefragments

    yes, I’m late tonight

  • *stumbling in* It’s been so hot.

    • davefragments

Today was my supermarket day (I hate crowds) and my refrigerator gave me a scare tonight. I thought it broke.

      • Oy! That’s just a no! Glad it wasn’t broke.
We went to the store at 8:30 this morning and it was already in the 80’s

        • davefragments

It was pleasant today. I just have too much running around. I’m tired and I want to stay home and do nothing but that won’t happen.

          • I understand that sentiment very much!

          • davefragments

There are days I want to beat people to death in the supermarket. I’m like a machine. The aisles are memorized. I know exactly what to buy. They are sightseeing and wandering. It takes its toll in the evenings.

          • Oh indeed. I take you made it out without beating anyone?
Today wasn’t too bad at the store. Not too many lookieloos

          • davefragments

There’s a Whole Foods opening at kind of the same distance. So maybe they will be easier to go to.

          • Cool! I’m kind of enamored of WinCo. It’s not perfect, but it does have a lot for decent prices.

          • davefragments

I like my meat counter. They don’t think it odd that I buy two weeks at a time and freeze it. That’s why I keep going back.

          • There is something to say for having a butcher instead of having it just all placed out with no one to talk to.

          • davefragments

I am very much a carnivore and the Delmonico I had last night was heavenly. I can buy these nice little thick sirloins, live them in half and make two steak sandwiches with roasted potatoes. Then I’m stuffed and happy.

          • Nom nom nom!!

          • davefragments

            YES!

          • My store is rearranging again to make room of the half aisle of wine. We will have WINE in my store! Oh Happy Day!

          • davefragments

Pennsylvania may do that. I don’t drink much but a couple bottles of red a month would be fine with me.

          • Well the stores in VA sell wine, but I didn’t even know the petition succeeded for our area in TN until I went to the store and saw the roped off part of the aisle with a few bottles of wine on the shelf, apparently they had just started stocking.

          • davefragments

Pennsylvania still has “State Stores” for wines and liquors. Some supermarkets carry a selection of beers but you have to pay at special register and prove your age (I never get carded anymore. I wonder why)

          • Well are stores sell beer, but didn’t sell wine or liquor. But now we have beer and wine. Hopefully with a better selection than some of the liquor stores around here.

          • davefragments

That would work well for me.

          • Supermarkets don’t usually have wine?

          • It depends on where you live in the US. -_-

          • Good lord. What about beer or other alcohol? Here anything kiosk side and larger that can sell alcohol will do so. The smallest store may not include wine, or maybe a single white and red, but wine is in any supermarket/grocery store.

          • That’s the way it is in California, I mean beer and wine in basically all stores. Most stores even sell liquor. I think it was the same in AZ. But many places in the south and the midwest have other ideas about things. Especially on Sundays.

          • Gotta love the Bible Belt.

          • Oh indeed…. or not.

          • What is really awesome is going to college in the middle of Amish territory….driving down the road and then: Is that…..it IS……OMG that is so awesome!

Doki learned and saw a lot going to college in PA.

    • It’s not been superhot-hot where I am, and some parts of my country got hotter weather, but this morning is one of those ‘like breathing cotton’ humid mornings -_-

      • Ugh! My sympathies! It only reached 99 today. But there are fires surrounding the area so the sky is odd. Nothing that we’re in danger of, but close enough the smoke makes it yellow.

        • davefragments

There is a video of a house in West Virginia that had floated off its foundation and down a river while burning. It is rather a spectacular video.

          • I saw that!! The post was saying it was very indicative of 2016

          • davefragments

That was down southern WV in White Sulfur Springs.
The rain only touched my area but I could hear it all night — 2 inches up here. They had 8 and nine inches all at once.

          • Damn. I should be careful wishing for rain. I remember the last el niño. The hill behind us lost a chuck and slid down into the horse stalls. But nothing like a house floating down the flooding on fire.

          • davefragments

The water rises and then snaps off a natural gas line. That sets the house on fire. Other places have propane tanks and those can explode. WV is the only place I’ve seen chicken coops and satellite dishes in the yards.

          • I’ll stay here on the west coast thanks. 😀

          • davefragments

I had to travel to our offices in Morgantown for several years. The entire northern portion of West Virginia is an outdoor paradise — rafting, kayaking, snow skiing, lakes and fishing and hunting. Pretty country.
It’s the northernmost of the South.
Me, I want my Symphony up here in Pittsburgh.

          • It definitely is very beautiful. When I had horses, I’d look at all the ads for various farms/ranches, but then I’d be reminded of all the snow and hurricanes and thunder/lightning storms and BUGS THE SIZE OF A HOUSE and put the magazine down.

          • davefragments

Hurricanes and bugs sound like Florida.

          • That too! But it was weather I wasn’t wanting any part of. 🙂

          • davefragments

My brother owns horse and I have tow neighbors with them. Personally, they are big, smelly pets.
Although, they do have personalities and there’s a horse or two that I’ve met that I would gladly take care of.

          • Horses are a madness. 😛 I miss them sometimes and then I remember all the shit and am happy without them.

          • davefragments

I have a neighbor who grows hay and has a manure spreader for his tractor.

  • Adam Black

    Camping gets earlier and earlier.
Soon it we will have to change the name to Supper-Brigade

    • This time has been the ‘normal’ camping time for a while now 🙂

      • Adam Black

        Lets Make Camping Late Again

        • My sleepy side would kinda agree. The rest of me is fine with this, because it lets me camp, and gives me chanve yo see the page, also on times with work in the morning.

  • Adam Black
  • *waves at my fellow fiends* Heyla, all! I must be to bed, but I want to let you know I’m thinking about you. Have a good camp and save me s’mores.

  • syllibub

So I threw out my back because apparently I’m 100 years old. Got a heating pad, balanced precariously on pillows, etc. Good thing it’s page night!

    • Are you going to have wifey fix it after she is done playing with the kids and dooming one side of the globe to demonic rule?

      • syllibub

The woman’s shrugging off at least a second-degree burn – somehow I don’t think she’ll be impressed with my back trouble, LOL!

    • Ouch! Hope back improves. Hope mood/pain improves a little with the new page.

    • davefragments

Hopefully a good night’s sleep will help.

    • I hope it feels better soon. 🙁

    • That sucks. I did that bending over to put a leash on my dog. -_-

      • syllibub

It’s weird how little things like that will do it.

        • Yes! I mean I just bent over, I hear/feel a thunk and oh shit pain!

    • Tyler Griffin

Your wife transferring the strain from all those flips to you? Maybe you should re-read that prenup ritual outline. (Get better quickly)

  • davefragments

oh, ugh, oh, PP is going to get it…

  • Eris, elder daughter of Nyx
