The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Chapter 4—Page 37

255 Comments on The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Chapter 4—Page 37

Well, fee fi fo fum. Now, I wonder what Commander had to say about Spooky selling their dairy cow for a few. measley “magic beans”?

So! The magic bottle wasn’t a dud, after all. Fluke seems encouraged by the results, anyway. How does he plan to use this to his advantage and will it actually work?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • davefragments

OMG — It’s Jack and the Beanstalk and I wonder if he can sing!

    • D. G.

      Congrats on the v.

      • davefragments

        Thank you.

        • D. G.

          Your welcome.

  • D. G.

    Instatree!!!

    • Tyler Griffin

      So close, maybe someday soon!

      • D. G.

        I hope so.

  • davefragments

“”There are Giants in the sky!
There are big tall terrible Giants
    in the sky!”

“A big tall terrible Giant at the door,
A big tall terrible lady Giant
    sweeping the floor.
    And she gives you food
    And she gives you rest
    And she draws you close
    To her Giant breast,
    And you know things now
    that you never knew before,
    Not till the sky.”

    • Pietro7

That was the BEST musical! Thanks for the reminder.

    • Chris Dangerfield

      Yay!

  • D. G.

    No bean tho.

  • Fluke is the golden goose at this moment.

    • davefragments

And Duncan laid the golden eggs

  • D. G.

This is the closest I ever got to a v. Yay!

    • Adam Black

Im sorry you missed your prom

    • Klaus

      Does that make it a u? Or a w?

      • D. G.

        Lol.

  • D. G.

So anni gets knocked on his azz.

    • Maybe a vine will grab him and hold him upside down

      • D. G.

        We can only hope.

      • davefragments

And two dimes, three nickels and a penny fall out of his belt thing(i’d say fanny pack but the Brits wouldn’t know what I was talking about) 😉

        • And all change hits his nose on the way down.

(Right, fanny has a completely different meaning for them.)

          • Jonni

We brits are aware of the difference in meaning but like to misunderstand anyway. Because it makes us giggle 😉

          • HA! I learned about the other meaning when I went to Disney World and they gave us a “hip” pack when I had always known it as a fanny pack. The things one learns at Disney World.

          • Chris Dangerfield

            The happiest pack on earth…

          • Chris Dangerfield

Well, 12 year old boy humor, knows no borders… XD

          • Tyler Griffin

but that just makes the concept of a fanny pack even more amusing to me… Guess I never grew out of that 12 year old boy f=phase of humor, lol.

          • Chris Dangerfield

(your totally thinking about what you can store in it… aren’t you? says the other 12 year old boy…)

        • Jonni

We used to call them bum bags when I was growing up. I googled it – it looks like we still do!

      • D. G.

That would b funny cuz spooky held him still with his magic like that.

      • Saxon_Brenton

I would certainly hope so. At the moment Annihilator hasn’t been incapacitated, simply knocked backwards and briefly hindered. Well guess what Fluke, Annihilator has *already* been knocked back and briefly hindered by the laser!NotBear – and that didn’t stop him from getting up to intercept you. He can still run around the beanstalk to get to you, and he’s still got his superspeed. Having him be grabbed by a vine would be a really good idea about now.

        • Definitely

        • Adam Black

you are forgetting about the Giant.

          • Chris Dangerfield

            Fee-Fi-Fo-Duncan…

          • Adam Black

What does English blood smell like?

          • Chris Dangerfield

            snoooty!

          • Adam Black

            Even the soccer Hooligans?

  • I love the look of absolute shock on Duncan’s face. Haha!

    • Chris Dangerfield

      HA! “Smug-begone.”

  • D. G.

So it was just a delay. Whew.

    • Chris Dangerfield

So, the the Not-a-Bear )It’s totally a Bear… was just a distraction? Nice luck. 🙂

  • davefragments

I wonder if it grows tentacles or tendrils and has teeth — carnivorous vines can be so much fun.

    • D. G.

      That would b awesome.

      • davefragments

We are only a few minutes away from the flaming circle of bones opening night . . .

    • Tyler Griffin

If the gaint plant column suddnly unbraids itself to become a mass of grappling, groping tentacle we will *KNOW* that that, along with the Not-a-Bear )It’s totally a Bear), indicates Alex is just throwing us fanservice shenanigans right now.

      • Chris Dangerfield

Let’s be honest… he mostly throws us fanservice 2x a week. It’s not fanservice, (it’s totally fanservice). 😀

  • Oh crap, watch out for giants!

  • Feed me, Seymour, feed me now!

    • davefragments

Makes me wanna burst out in song !

      • Heee! The Young Protectors: The Musical!

        • amusingmurff

Wow, I put wayyyy to much effort into this, but it was fun! All songs are (mostly) real titles of musical, pop, and Disney songs who’s themes – or just title, lbr – fit the corresponding story section.

      • Jonni

I was thinking of Mean Green Mother.

    • Adam Black

      Feed me all night long

    • Chris Dangerfield

OMG you win the gold star for making me go listen to that sound track again. THE BEST!

  • Saxon_Brenton

Thick beanstalk, probably growing very tall. That will be an excellent way to attract the attention of – oh I don’t know – any passing military attack forces that may have been on the way to this area after having been warned about supervillain shenanigans.

    • D. G.

      Good point.

      • Saxon_Brenton

If it’s tall enough, it may show up on radar and interfere with air traffic. (Although even with magic I doubt it would be tall enough to interfere with low earth orbit satellites.)

    • strangeangel24601

“So, what are we looking for again?”
“Commander said we would know when we see it.”

    • Tyler Griffin

You know, just in case they missed the giant lazer Not-a-Bear (It’s totally a Bear)

  • Cydney Sabin

Okay, so the second one was the tree.

Sooo… did I just predict the future?

  • Kate G

“FEE FI FO FUM, I smell the blood of an Englishman!” (As a side note, ny nephew LOVES it when I make big, giant steps and growl in a low voice, “Fee-fi-fo-fum.” He finds it hilarious.)

Well, at least we know that the potion wasn’t a dud. It just had a delayed effect. I wonder where the beanstalk goes and if the creature is friendly.

I have a feeling Amanda will be giving Spooky multiple lectures on the contents of his phials.

    • Tyler Griffin

Well, I DO always read Duncan with an english accent a la Disney’s Sher Khan, or Megabyte from Reboot.

      • Kate G

        🙂

    • Tyler Griffin

Or the contents of his phallus? Ok, ok, that one’s stretching a bit, I ‘ll admit..

      • Kate G

Oh, naughty Tyler. Hm, maybe both?

        • Tyler Griffin

Oh, wicked, bad, naughty, evil Tyler! Oh, he is a bad person, and he must pay the penalty!

          • Kate G

*whacks with a rolled up newspaper playfully*

          • Chris Dangerfield

            (with apologies to Monty Python)

Dingo: Yes, oh, wicked, bad, naughty, evil Tyler! Yes. Yes, you must give him a good spanking. And after the spanking, the oral sex.

Tyler: Well, I could stay a bit longer.

[Sir Lancelot crashes in, grabs Tyler and rushes out of Castle Anthrax]

Lancelot: We were in the nick of time. You were in great peril.

            Tyler: I don’t think I was.

Lancelot: Yes, you were. You were in terrible peril.

Tyler: Look, let me go back in there and face the peril.

Lancelot: No, it’s far too perilous.

(and so forth… and so on…)

  • I wonder if the instatree leads to more laserNot!bears

    • Kate G

Laser No! Horses. After all, you know the adage, thunder is but horses running in the sky.

      • I thought it was giants bowling.

        • davefragments

The line Americans remember is “Fee, Fie, Foe, Fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman,”
but in this movie (and for Britain) , the entire story begins with a more appropriate line: “Fee, Fie, Foe, Fum, Ask not where the Thunder comes, Ask not where the herds have gone, or why the birds have ceased their song. When coming home, don’t take too long, for monsters roam in Albion.”
That’s a better version of the tale for a bard or a minstrel rather than a book.

      • davefragments

        Ghost Riders

      • Klaus

That one is new to me.

        • Kate G

I actually mixed it up a little. It’s “Thunder is the sound of hoofbeats in heaven.” I think it’s either an old cowboy adage or from one of the Native American tribes.

It grew up hearing that and “Thunderstorms are God’s angels bowling against the demons; the demons are losing which is why it’s raining.” My aunt would tell my brother and I that to calm us down. She grew up in a Mexican family.

          • Columbine

            I’d not heard that one-

In Nigeria Thunder is a male Gods, one of the big macho ones. But interestingly *storms* are the domain of his wife, whose a river Goddess. The winds are supposed to be her dancing.

      • Klaus

        It is Tanngnjóstr andTanngrísnir.

  • Sapfo

Paul! DONT GO UP IT! It will not end well if you do ……

    • Klaus

      Then again, it might.

  • Jonni

    Jack’s been at it again.

    • Tyler Griffin

      just Jack’n around….

  • Mir

Gahh!! I should’ve called it but I thought I might’ve been wrong. I had a feeling it was just taking awhile to take effect lol.

  • Hey, Duncan, you got wood? Heh-heh-heh…

  • Klaus

    Just how will that work?

    • timemonkey

      A distraction is a distraction.

      • Klaus

        Not for long enough.

    • Shihchuan

Maybe it’s Whomping Willow! (In which case Fluke better back off soon too)

      • Librarican

I’m loving the idea of it being a Whomping Willow!
Although that doesn’t bode well for the team’s flying car….

    • strangeangel24601

Maybe a giant will climb down to help. Or they’ll get a goose that lays golden eggs.

  • camelotcrusade

    You’ve bean warned. ヘ(◕。◕ヘ)

  • Okay, that little “POP” is adorable.

Love the page (and all the previous pages) as always team!

  • Adam Black

    Dammit,
    Fluke missed.
This could have grown out of Duncan, like a massive Chest-burster

    • Tyler Griffin

depends, was the beanstalk the potion, or did the potion cause uncontrolled growth on the plants it soaked…. I don’t think we’d want a Cuddles sized Anni.

  • T Dibbler

So, there’s a giant ogre at the top of that, right?

  • Columbine

…..This is not a metaphor……No sir. No metaphors here.

(Oh Gods the smaller vines look like veins and I can’t unsee this!)

    • Klaus

      And the leaves?

      • Columbine

Don’t make me think about this!!!!!

        • Tyler Griffin

*Subtle suggestive voice* think about it. Think about it. Think about it*

          • Columbine

            AAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrgh! *runs*

*ahem* Please hold. This Mammal is rebooting.

          • Tyler Griffin

now why does that remind me of old Bob and George comic strips… lmao

      • Vaira

The leaves, well… that’s why you need protection, so you don’t grow anything unusual 😉 What a coincidence we’ve got The Young Protectors here 😉

PS. Is “The Gay Protestors” only my head canon, or do other people see the title this way?

  • Tyler Griffin

*Rita Repulsa voice* Magic Potion! Make My Beanstalk GROW!!!!!!!

  • karmakat

    spooky and the magic bean?

  • Tyler Griffin

So, I missed camping, and apparently all the discussion as well, but for anyone wandering past later, here’s ya something to giggle about. Ignorance and the penalty of devaluing your educational system strike again!

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/majority-of-texas-gay_us_573e88bfe4b0613b5129e31d

    • bronakopdin

      just awesome xD

    • Chris Dangerfield

HA! That is awesome. I’ve decided to believe that’s absolutely true and I’ve now emailed the link to all my friends in Texas!!! Thank yew.

  • Jeldenil

Well, the grass was healed a little too thoroughly. But I wonder how this will stop Anni from going after Paul.

  • Klaus

    Pop goes the weasel.

  • I wonder if Spooky just found these things lying around, or if he made them himself? And if the latter – what *other* fairy tales has he read?

  • Aitsuki

WOOP! That’s a big beanstalk…. I suppose technically it makes sense that all the vials are saving Fluke’s ass…. Spooky brought them along for a fight, so there must be a reason….

  • Tyler Griffin

And now, the culmination of Fluke’s massive Luck reservoir, the Grand Finale, if you will. The beanstalk utterly fails to hamper Anni in the SLIGHTEST, indeed, our dear sweet Duncan merely punches the botanical bulwark, causing it to collapse, and continues on after Fluke. But lo, what light in yonder panel breaks? Tis the Dampener, and it lies directly in the path of said falling beanstalk!

    • Klaus

Why would he do that when he can just run around it?

Why did the Anihilator run around the bean stalk?
To get to the other side,

      • Tyler Griffin

Anni would so totally punch it down, in a show of smug superiority 😛 not to mention that it’s a critical plot move for my suggestion, lol.

        • Klaus

Or Not-A-Bear could blast Duncan, causing a part of the bean stalk to fall.

          • Tyler Griffin

Cuddles is a bit busy chasing his brunch, atm. Although, I would imagine it has noticed the large, phallic flora

          • Columbine

Cuddles! YES! We MUST call it CUDDLES!

  • Shiny Gwilly

    well then
but yes, the question now is, how does this work in anyone’s advantage?
maybe it has giant vines at the top to smack people around with, maybe it starts raining beans out of the sky, maybe it has a taste for old(er) people
(i’m tired and i just typed whatever came to my mind, lovely work on this page though! loving the details)

    • Klaus

This is a great advantage. Its bulk will slow down the wind. Evaporation from the leaves will increase moisture of the air and contribute to the rainfall in the area. And eventyually it will produce beans that can be sold for livestock.

      • Chris Dangerfield

So this is good “luck” for the local environment. That is big thinking right there…

  • Jeldenil

I wonder whether Spooky was supposed to keep this one, by the way.

  • Mersharr

    called it

  • bronakopdin

Sadly I totally had to google the “fee fi fo fum” one, those are the times where it’s a big disadvantage to grow up with either translations of fairytails or well, other fairytales to begin with x’D
At least after googling I understood where all those giants in the comments came from o/

    I know the fairytale even… but I didn’t get the connection >////<
maybe I'm just too exhausted to begin with orz

I'm really wondering though what Paul made up in his mind to say this works!?
Will be interesting for sure 😀

    • davefragments

Jack (Daniel Huttlestone) has this song of “Giants in the Sky” from INTO THE WOODS.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5Xqv9h_pm8

And you can try the movie “Jack the Giant Slayer”
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEuTxD2UFdM
It actually try to name the giants Fee, Fie, Fo and Fum

      • bronakopdin

        thanks for the links 🙂
        I already loved the song!
Didn’t even know about “into the woods” (it totally passed me by… >_>’)
but as it’s just after midnight and I have to do loads of (more) homework tomorrow I can’t afford to watch the movie now x’D
will check out the other trailer soon ^^

        • davefragments

There is a song that Prince Charming and his brother sing titled “Agony” that had the audience laughing way too hard in the theater.

          • bronakopdin

yep it was starting right after the other one on yt xD

      • Chris Dangerfield

“Giants in the Sky” — one of my most favorite songs ever. Thanks.

    • Columbine

M’dear two weeks ago I blew £50 on yoruba language dictionaries to try and clear up a point in Brazilian capoeira culture that’s been bugging me for a while. I don’t actually study this stuff (I’m a chemist) and I don’t come from (or have ever lived) anywhere near Nigeria or Brazil.

Your answer to folklore confusion is probably healthier!

      • bronakopdin

oh my! If I had the money I’d love to investigate random stuff that is bugging me, too!! x’D

        • Columbine

My job pays pretty well for manual labour (I literally move rocks by hand, large expensive rocks), because not many people want to do it. Point is, don’t be embarassed about having to google other people’s folktales, having the interest to do that is awesome. 🙂

          • bronakopdin

I’m still a university student so I’m poor by default x’D
            maybe someday LOL
And actually I really respect anyone doing manual labour! In a way it’s a shame that people nowadays feel like they are “better than that”… I mean what do they think how things work? There are people collecting their trash and growing their food, building their houses or public locations etc. Admittedly I would prefer a non-manual labour, too (hence why I study) but I still respect everyone who works in those fields!
(May it be expensive rocks for whatever or simply construction workers ^^)

          • Columbine

Finishing up a chemistry doctorate. But I’ve had all sorts of jobs so far, I’ve made shampoo, worked in university labs on enzyme probes and sugars, done some freelance art, made shirts and yeah transported rocks. 🙂 It’s certainly a good experience I think, a lot easier for young people though. I see people doing this sort of work who are in their sixties and some of them look like they’re struggling a lot. It’s given me a lot more pride than my other jobs though.

I also grow food. Because apparently I inherited that part of being English. We garden, even on boats and tarmac.

          • bronakopdin

I worked in a pizza shop (making the pizza, not delivering) for 2 months but the pay was so bad I had to look for something else, so since then I’m working at a supermarket, mostly at the cash point, only sometimes unpacking. It’s also quite some manual labour depending on what you unpack x’D
but being a cashier is actually straining more! the concentration you need… it might sound funny… but we have to think about a lot, ask each customer a lot etc.
Not saying it’s a hard job or anything but there are times when it’s really giving you a headache, too x’D
I can’t grow anything >_<' not even flowers… somehow the earth will always get fungus and I'm allergic, I do not give them too much water though… I have no clue, maybe it's karma ^^'
But I'm busy as it is and don't really have the time to learn sth new atm, maybe later in life, when I have just one steady job (I'm studying Latin and Ancient Greek for teacher post) and not Uni and homework and part-time all at once x'D

          • Columbine

It’s definitely easier when you’ve got more time! That said I can help you with the fungus problem because I had fungus growing with some of my plants. If you crush some garlic, soak it in water for a few minutes (3-15 may be) and then put the water on the fungus it tends to kill them. It can burn the plant though.

          • bronakopdin

I actually do not have any plants for years because of that problem but I might wanna keep this in mind if I plan to grow some again in the future 😀

  • TwilightDreamer

Barely resisting making a beanstalk joke….
Ha! In your face Anni ;P….I wasn’t ready to believe there wasn’t something more to that potion XD

  • Klaus

    Bean sprouts anyone?

  • There’s the plant I hoped for. Now, will it come with tentacle wines, or its very own demony being? Though that plant in itself is quite demony.

I know Anni heals fast, but he has to feel being knocked on his ass again. Does this count for the ass whooping we wanted Anni to have?

    • Klaus

      It’s a start.

  • Andy Diehl

Always nice when you discover it’s a grower…

  • Dennis Grace

    OMG! Magic bean extract!

Give it up, Duncan. Fluke’s is definitely bigger.

    • Tyler Griffin

XD We’ve all just given up resisting and devolved to dick jokes now haven’t we.

      • *resists… resists*
        *comes back half hour later*
        *gives up*

He certainly has wood, and it’s quite obvious.

      • Klaus

Sometimes a dick joke is just a dick joke.

        • Chris Dangerfield

          Sigmund Klaus has spoken. 😀

      • Chris Dangerfield

I see no problem with that?

      • davefragments

It’s a grower and a show-er and it belongs to Spooky Jones.

    • Chris Dangerfield

It certainly wiped the smug of Duncan’s face, at least for a moment. Love it.

  • Justin White

Wow spook has some cool stuff

    • Columbine

I think we should may be start tallying Spooky’s stuff…. Partly cos I wanna know if he regularly carrys anything that could top the bear.

      • Stephen Hutchison

The bear is not likely to be willing to bottom.

        • Columbine

          Oh ouch.

        • Tyler Griffin

you’d be surprised a how many bear are bottoms

          • Chris Dangerfield

            No actually, I wouldn’t, but that’s just life. I don’t judge. 😀

      • Justin White

        i guess we’ll see

      • purplefoxglove

When I read your comment the first time, I misread “cos” for “cosplay” and thought you wanted to keep track of all of Spooky’s stuff for a proper Spooky cosplay. Any chances?

        • Columbine

Ummm may be, but this year’s cosplay is definitely Wentworth Miller’s Captain Cold. And I’m neither the right race nor (more importantly) the right build for Spooky. I’m *tiny*. I’m 5ft and under 50kg.

  • Jack Mason

    That’s a bit of wood isn’t it?

    • Poppyjaz

I’m glad they drew vines on it, ’cause out could have looked like a whole other kind of wood! Lol

      • Vaira

So not only I thought this tentacle is too big? 😉

        • Chris Dangerfield

Well, “too big” is such a personal term. 🙂

          • Tyler Griffin

“too big” is a just another way to say “challenge accepted!”

          • Jonni

It depends on how accommodating one is.

          • Vaira

Yyyyy. Ok. I bow to you. From a distance. 😉

        • Poppyjaz

You’d have to get Duncan’s opinion on that one..lol

      • Chris Dangerfield

Is this battle taking place in the “morning?”

    • Chris Dangerfield

      Just a smidge…

  • Earl Patterson

    That’s work 🙂

  • I’m loving Fluke’s expression in last panel. Not knowing what to expect, quite surprised at what he got. I ‘hear’ his That’ll Work in my head.

Amanda is SO having a talk with Spooky later.
“WHAT IF THOSE BOTTLES AND VIALS HAD BROKEN IN THE HEADQUARTER OR THE PLANE! And you kept the bear. What did we agree about that??”

    • Tyler Griffin

“Or in your pocket!” Then again, that magic bean/giant growth vial could have an intriguing affect of broken during a casual cuddling session…

      • Chris Dangerfield

Is that a “magic bean/giant growth” in your pocket or are you happy to see me?

  • For once, I can ser/notice the difference between WIP colors and final page. More glowy.

  • Jason Moon

Wow, I had no idea that the Swamp Thing was so well endowed.

  • Austin King

I’m excited to see where this goes. This fight has been very good and used all the team members effectively. Ofc I am still hoping The Annihilator comes around to the good side.

  • Toli Bera

Why didn’t Spooky use these bottles earlier? seems to me a giant Grizzle T. Rizzly on the loose, and a quick-grow bean stalk thrown at the gate to send it into the upper atmosphere until it tumbled over and shattered could have solved the first battle rather fast.

curious to see what happens next.

    • Maybe because they’re uncontrolable factors. As Amanda just said, the bear isn’t on their side, it was just luck that PP happened to be the one scorching its butt, so it took its anger out on her. Could just as easy have gone after a teammate.
I think these were last option possibilities that Spooky brought on own initiative, also since Amanda didn’t know he kept Fluffy bear.

      • Toli Bera

still could have rained down the chaos bottles from the chopper/flyboy.

  • amusingmurff

DUNCAN used SMUG – it was super ineffective!

  • Pikinanou

Hah! I knew it 😀 Now, get yourself a giant and some golden eggs!

  • Chris Dangerfield

    Okay team Woolfson…

This page was super unexpected and super fun. And thank you for giving Duncan a moment of anti-smugness… (what can I say, it makes me happy). Now I must admit I have NO clue as to what might happen next.

As always, thank you for the great work.

  • Derkins

HaHA! That was no dud, or topical ointment. Spooky is good at what he does, and he is collector of oddities. Some said no, but I called it! :p Yusss :DDD

  • Jeff Baker

If it had grown into what my backyard looks like right now, they’d never be able to hack their way out of there!! Seriously, I’m loving this!!

  • Jeff Baker

Oh, and I just read an interview with Stan Lee (Kansas City Star, May 22, 2016) where he said the one superpower he’d want to have was “luck.”

  • D. G.

The beanstalk is beautifully drawn and colored. Nice work.

  • Jack Mason

If I could have one superpower it would be able to manipulate probability. Like what are the chances of a guy dropping 1 million dollars in front of you? 0%. Now, let’s make that 100%.

    • George Dodd

Isn’t that essentially the same as having the ‘superpower’ of being able to do or get anything you want whenever? That’s kind of ridiculous isn’t it? It would make you omnipotent.

Also you’ve got very similar wording to a tumblr post from a few years ago.

      • Check out Marvel Comic’s Longshot, Domino or even Scarlet Witch. They have the chance of manipulating probability in their favor. Key word is chance. Scarlet Witch has a few more tricks up her sleeve that have become crutches for writers, but Longshot and Domino have the ability and it’s far from omnipotent.

        • George Dodd

I am aware of those characters, but the way it was phrased by op clearly suggested the ability to make any desired event 100% certain to occur at any time, which is a little more than just ‘manipulating probability in your favour.’

I’m not sure what else to even say, I thought my original comment was clear: if you can have anything you want happen whenever you want, you are omnipotent. It’s practically the definition of the word.

  • davefragments

I had a fight in my back yard while I was cooking dinner last night. Suddenly , as I’m peeling potatoes, I see movement and there it is, a fight.

    • somebody

      That’s so cool!

      • davefragments

First time this ever happened. They were only six or seven feet from my house. They have never been that close when I was home.

        • somebody

maybe they were so into it, that they forgot where they where? Or they know that they have nothing to fear from a mere human….

          • davefragments

They put my house (which sits back from the road 300 feet between them and the road. That makes them feel safe.
I think this was just two young bucks pushing each other around just because they were bucks.I suspect twins because they are the same size.
The little ones (like Bambi) are curious but the adults aren’t. However, if I’m quiet and still don’t talk, the Doe and yearlings will come around without fear. The bucks never get close to any person. Not after the first mating season. The bucks are territorial.

    • D. G.

      Thx doki.

    • *kicks Twitter* My timeline was so full of Stucky that Twitter apparently forgot to show me that tweet (along with others in a 30-60min period), because it was posted while my internet was shortly out. I even checked for what I had missed.

Thank you. I’d have missed that one.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Thank you!!

      • *glomps stick*

        • stickfigurefairytales

          Hi Doki! *snuggles*

          • Doki has had it rough for the past few-ish weeks. Though grandmother seems to be doing better, and Doki is over the stomach bug she had *knocks on wood*

          • stickfigurefairytales

I’m glad to hear that. *big hug* I hope that things continue to get better for you, Doki love.

  • So, is it too much to name the tree?

    • Woody?

      • Ha! You got a friend in me…

        • Kate G

You’ve got a friend in me
You’ve got troubles, and I’ve got ’em too,
There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for you

We stick together and can see it through…

          Stick? Stick? *snickers* Stick….*cackles*

    • syllibub

Eh, you all named a skeyeball — a tree isn’t that much of a leap!

      • True. But! The skeyeball was sort of sentient. I wasn’t sure… But then again I think the car got named, so no, a tree isn’t far off. 🙂

  • Kate G

Three hours later, Katie has managed to go through all of her digital photos (that she took) that go back to 2012. I think it was over 4,000 photos.

Some of those photos were really scary to look at. Unfocused, blurry, crazy photos. o.O Scaaaaaaaary. Photos of Cameras Past.

  • syllibub

This page makes me smile, though — Duncan’s having such a bad day.

    • stickfigurefairytales

After the night Kyle had, Duncan is certainly due.

  • davefragments

    hey, hey, hey

    • Good Evening Dave!

      • davefragments

After a nice sunny day. How is it going?

        • Not too bad. Getting ready to eat dinner. Been chilly and windy hear. Of course 70 is chilly for these parts. lol

          • davefragments

I had chicken tonight. Tomorrow I have to go food shopping and brave my way through the supermarket. I’m so thrilled. just ecstatic. (loads of sarcasm, there)

          • We’re having chicken and sausage and sausage tonight.

I hate grocery shopping with a passion

          • davefragments

I’m down to my last bowl of cereal, one baking potato, and two chicken thighs. Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor screaming kids, nor wandering men with their cellphones to their eyes asking if that’s the right can of beans
            shall stop me !! !! !!

          • Well good luck!

          • davefragments

            🙂

  • Kate G

My mama has been in the hospital for now four days for a bad migraine and her creatinine went through the roof (she has kidney failure but it wasn’t THAT bad.) They have CAT scanned her brain, taken every last X-Ray possible, done all the major tests, and they’ve basically ruled out everything but some sort of infection. I worry for my mama.

Not to mention the bill. The bill is going to be horrible. I don’t even want to think about it. Mostly I worry for my mama because she likes hospitals about as much as I do. I would have run out of the door by day two. I miss my mama.

    • I’m so sorry to hear that. Big hugs to you.

      • Kate G

D’aw thank you. I just needed to unload. It’s no fun having my mama in the hospital.

    • syllibub

Warm thoughts to both you and your mom — it’s so hard when someone you love is in pain. Virtual hug if you want one ♥︎

      • Kate G

It is and she’s at a place where no doggies from home are allowed. 🙁 Zena misses her mama too. At least she gets good hospital food. There’s the silver lining.

    • davefragments

I hope they find the cause quickly. My best to you and your Mom.

      • Kate G

Thanks. At least she’s at a hospital with good hospital food.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Hugs to you and to your mom. I hope that things get better.

      • Kate G

Thank you. We’re all holding it together. My mom got moved from observation (she was there because she was transferred there from the ER) to critical care. I’m glad she’s at a hospital with good food and good doctors, although that means the bill will be ginormous. Sigh. Some things are just worth it though.

        • stickfigurefairytales

          You’re very right.

    • Best hopes of a speedy recoverybto your mom. Hope they sort it out.

      • Kate G

Me too. There are only so many things, right?

    • *hugs* I hope they find out what is wrong with her and she gets better quickly!

      • Kate G

        Thanks. I hope so too.

  • stickfigurefairytales

Hi everybody! I can’t stay too late tonight, since tomorrow evening my brother and I are going to go see SPORTS TEAM play in person! Right now they are fighting to get into the Ultimate Championship Battle to Win Sports.

    • Witnessing Sporting in person is the best!!

      • stickfigurefairytales

You can tell them to score the points and they’ll hear you if you yell loud enough! Then that will remind them to win!

  • Morning from Denmark.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Good morning!

    • Morning Ms Wolf!

  • davefragments

    That vine is a creeper…

  • Soirbleu

    I wish I could upvote Alex’s commentary.

  • Pinkfeiry

    that “pop” was pretty cute

  • Curt Clark

    I love magic.

I don’t know if I can emphasize this enough.

I JUST REALLY LOVE MAGIC YOU GUYS.

  • Kattriella

I love that he’s just like, “A beanstalk . . . Sure, why the hell not?”
