So! Kyle is apparently trying to defeat The Annihilator by poking at deep-seated childhood issues, and our Silver Supervillain has had enough! Or has he? Kyle has made some pretty good points. Will The Annihilator reconsider his alliance with The Platinum Priestess? Or is this his final word on the matter? (As if! We know our Monologuing Master would never just use one word for anything, am I right?)

Tune in this Saturday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • Ooh, right in the gut.

  • Errg

  • No, no, it’s not enough. We’re so close to a break through

    • Chris Dangerfield

Dr. Admiral even has a little couch in her office and ‘therapy muffins’. Heeeeeeee…

  • syllibub

Ah. No Sircea, but Duncan gets a RAGE BUBBLE — those are always fun!

It must be devastating and enraging for Duncan to not only feel the truth of what Kyle is saying, but to suffer the embarrassment of having a teenager see right through him. If he’s really trusted/depended on Sircea up to this point, that’s a betrayal he’ll feel acutely, and I’m not surprised he’s so resistant to the idea that she’s been using him.

    • SofiaT

Does Kyle know more about Duncan’s past than we do?
It feels like they’ve talked about it “off camera” -or Kyle is really good at guessing.

      • syllibub

Duncan told him he lost his family because of the harm he did to his former bullies — I guess Kyle extrapolated from there? If so, Kyle must be very sensitive to have picked up on Duncan’s lingering hurt and vulnerability surrounding the loss of his parents just from that brief bit of exposition.

        • Adam Black

He could just be extrapolating from himself.
Duncan used that similar History to get close to Kyle and gain his trust.

      • Maybe that’s part of what helped draw Kyle to Duncan, that they had some things in common.

        • syllibub

It’s sad when you think that Kyle must have really seen Duncan as a person during that conversation — if he only thought of Duncan as The Annihilator, he probably wouldn’t have been so quick to pick up on the similarities in their pasts. The fact that Kyle casually mentioned during that talk that he used to daydream about saving his crushes from bad guys and Duncan needed to remind him, “Bad guys…you don’t say…I think I know a guy like that, see him in the mirror every morning while I trim my Power Beard” shows that Kyle had separated Duncan from his supervillain image at the time. No wonder Duncan got attached to him.

        • SofiaT

I think it was the same for Duncan -Kyle has suffered as much as him but became the hero Duncan always wanted to be.

          Instant attraction there.

      • Klaus

Kyle did research before their date yesterday. They talk a bit about it outside the warehouse.

        • SofiaT

He researched his “career” as a villain.

Knowing Duncan, he wouldn’t have allowed his personal & early life to be public knowledge.

    • I’m expecting the Duncan smash soon. It might be good for him..

    • Happy birthday, Sylli.

      • syllibub

        Thank you! 😀

        • SofiaT

          HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

    • Happy Birthday, Syllibub! So glad you’re here with us! 🙂

    • Klaus

      Happy birthday.

    • bronakopdin

      Happy Birthday 😀

    • Chris Dangerfield

Happy B-day Ms. Syllibub. I think a bday with NO Sircea is an outrage not to be born and (on your behalf) I’ve penned a STERN missive to Mr. Woolfson. 🙂

      Enjoy your birthday week.

  • davefragments

Duncan is really pissed off (that’s a technical term, boys and girls, only to be used when the demons and the world is at stake)…

  • Toli Bera

“ENOUGH! Stop being right. you’re making my brain hurt.”

    • Klaus

If it was not true, it would not hurt so.

      • Toli Bera

        No Tea No Shade.

  • Wait..whut? What about Duncan’s childhood now? HOW much did Kyle find out about Duncan, and how much is known about their pasts?

For trying to have secret identities, a lot of things are known about them xD

    • Mir

Duncan has revealed a lot about his childhood to Kyle in the earlier pages/chapters. He’s told Kyle that he also lost his family, his powers started at puberty as well, he used those powers to hurt those who hurt him and eventually forever branded as a super villain by the media.

    • Morning Danish!

  • Cman65

A hit a full body hit

  • Mir

Kyle just said what I have been thinking about Duncan. Duncan is basically Kyle but without the support of people who cared about him. They both had similar childhoods but Kyle managed to have Spooky, Fluke, the Commander, etc to help him through it. Duncan, unfortunately did not. Which is why he went all “super villain”.

    • SofiaT

A couple of chapters ago I said that Duncan is a bullied Superman without a Jonathan Kent to guide him.

      I stand by that assessment.

      • Mir

Ha! That’s perfect. He also kind of reminds me of the character Megamind, with the whole “everyone treated me like a villain so that’s what I became” background.

  • Saxon_Brenton

Hmm. Red word balloons. Always an important signifier in an AMW published comic.
That said: We’ve had a few wide screen shots recently with most or all of the team in view, and once again Annihilator is standing in front of Commander. This is especially frustrating considering that the script for this page specifically mentions her beaming with pride. Arrrgh!

    • She does seem to end up in the blind angle a lot, especially when we get Duncan from behind.

  • Every time I see Tsunami hanging there with no shirt on, I get a desire to want to tickle his sides xD

Those panels are taunting me. They’re all just hanging there. I want to see movements, and especially Tsu-Tsu invites to tickling.
Just me with that feeling? <..> Oki then.

    • Samurai Jack

(Begin Futurama mode) I sentence you to death… By Tsu-Tsu! (/ Futurama mode )

  • This must sting Duncan so bad. Kyle is almost rubbing it in his face, how his life could have been if he’s gotten a chance. A chance which a large part of him seems to have wanted, if you go by what he’s saying.

Being told that not only did he miss his chance, the fact that he wanted it may have been used against him for a long time. Some of this has to linger even though Duncan claims he’s his own man.

  • YG_Frenchie

Even without color, Kyle’s eyes in the second last panel went right through me.

Those baby blues got to Duncan too 😉

    • Mir

Eeek I know! I love that expression he has.

  • fujoshifanatic

If I were Amanda, I would be looking on with pride too (although I can’t quite see it from that angle >;-( ). Kyle has grown up quite a lot in the last day or so; not only did he recognize the parallels between their formative years–and where they diverged–he also (correctly, I presume) sussed out that Anni is being played by PP in a similar fashion to how Anni played him. What’s more, he is man enough to offer Anni the chance to “take a third option” instead of fighting each other, since Anni claims they have the same ultimate goal of saving the world. That rage bubble doesn’t bode well for an alliance happening, but I am still hoping there is still a shred of decency and common sense hiding in Anni’s hot bod to consider it. He just needs to get over the embarrassment of a “child” having seen through him so easily. *fingers crossed*.

  • Rikunda

Please someone wake up Spooky. That is the first thing that should have come to mind when he mentioned magic and hell. He would know if any of this was real or not.

  • …Doki started it….*pouts*

  • SofiaT

    Duncan’s anger now in Technicolor.
    Three cheers for Vero!

  • karmakat

i think the seeds of doubts are starting a nice plant growth in there hehe

  • Klaus

I thought they had build up a month worth of buffer. Why then does Alex need to wait for Vero to send today’s page?

    • Chris Dangerfield

I might conjecture ‘render time’ and very large hi-res file storage on both Vero’s side and Alex’s. Also any last minute change (in art or dialog) may require Vero to re-render a previously thought to be finished page and that always takes longer than one wants, even with fast tech. Then the file transfer. Pencil is quick compared to color.

That said, I’m guessing. Only the Alex knows for sure. 😀

  • Ducan, I feel the good in you. Return to the hero side. 🙂

    • LimpBiskit

I think Kyle felt the good in him too XD
*washes virtual mouth out with soap*

      • krissdevalnor

        lol xD

    • timemonkey

Can’t return to what you were never on.

  • SofiaT

How has Duncan gotten his “Monologuing Master” reputation? Pretty much the only time he monologued was at the warehouse… Both before and after Hell granted, but if a trip to Hell doesn’t inspire some monologuing, what will?

He hasn’t monologued in this chapter at all (he’s engaged in dialogue, which is completely different) and if anything Kyle had pretty much hogged the speaking bubbles in quite a few pages now.

    • Are you saying that Kyle is monologuing? 😛

      • SofiaT

He’s getting 90% of the dialogue, which is coming close 😛

        • Kate G

But Duncan does monologue nearly every chapter. He’s just being run over by Kyle at the moment. HA HA.

        • He should watch that tendency.. Of course one could make the argument that Kyle is lecturing, which I suppose is more of what heroes do. Ha!

      • Chris Dangerfield

    • Chris Dangerfield

I think this is a very fair comment and I address it in my TL:DR post above.

I’ve been very guilty of slapping Duncan with this monicker because of my snark for him. That said, you’re right. It’s more a varying stream of different types of verbalization as he argues with himself and because we’re not watching the subtle shift in expression in someone like Tom Hiddleston’s face on film, there is no way for Alex to express Duncan’s evolving inner conflict, but to get varying types of inner verbalizing OUT.

Not excusing, but I think my focus on the word monologue came from him talking to a paralyzed Kyle in the warehouse, and my frustration that Kyle couldn’t reply. Clearly with Sircea and the glass box Duncan was having an inner argument with himself, dialoged out with Sircea.

Either way, it very clearly has a purpose in exposing Duncan’s character.

I shall continue to snark on Duncan, but I’ll do my best to retire the monologue word… Heh…

  • Kate G

    And they said Duncan monologued…

Poking right into the most sensitive issue can go two very extreme ways:

    1. Duncan can see the Light and join The Force. I mean, after all, sometimes you just need to see that all of your weaknesses are being used by some other bitch.

    2. Duncan can go postal and really root himself in the Dark Side. After all, you don’t poke a scared dog in the side and not expect to be bitten.

Oh, by the way, I. Am. CANTERING. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Well, I did successful cantering last week. I now just have to learn to keep my butt in the saddle. Conquering fears one week at a time people. Man, that was fuuuuuun.

    • Klaus

      Good for you, Dracula!

    • krissdevalnor

Awesome with the cantering^^ I have experienced the best way to keep my butt in the saddle is to really streeeetch my legs long, heels down. (even though its damn hard). Imagining my heels touching the grounds usually helps xD I dont know if Im dluding myself or if its because it makes me try harder to keep the heel down. Anyway – your legs are the answer to the butt-in-the-air-problem xD

      • Kate G

Oh, I know it’s my legs! It’s new so my legs like to bunch right back up and my toes go forward like an idiot. I’ve only been riding a year and a month basically. I still have old ballerina habits I’m overriding!

  • Shiny Gwilly

oooo, definitely pushed a nerve there Kyle
i’m sure Anni is gunna now have a last angry say that Kyle’s wrong and still a child, etc etc, but the seed of doubt is there, hopefully he’ll start thinking over what Kyle told him and maybe start questioning PP, actually questioning or at least considering it
but we don’t have too much time left, i believe…

  • Mary Klemzak

Ngl, I kinda hope Duncan does reconsider changing and working with that witch. I still believe people can change their lives around for the good. Maybe I’m naive, but I like believing in people. They do however have to deal with the consequences of their actions.

  • riven blue

I am sorry, the heroes are naive – sometimes hard decisions need to be made. There is currently no other plan on the table, just vague mentionings of one – Duncan is doing the right thing and I am surprised so many people are not seeing that. There may even be truth to what Kyle says but the motivations are irrelevant at this point.

What needs to be done should be done.

    • Vaira

If it’s the only way – yes. But the point is – noone knows, beside Sircea. And she will only show the option best for her.

    • timemonkey

There’s no other plan on the table because Sircea refused to even consider outside help. Hard choices need to be made, but they shouldn’t be made in a vacuume by the person most benefitting from taking the worst choice.

  • bronakopdin

This exactly what I thought before, thanks for stating it, Kyle!
And it seems I’m not the only one who thought this comparison ^^
But hitting more and more weak points, being probably right about all his assumptions, Duncan gets more than nervous… and sadly his nervousness scratches at his anger >//////<'
I admit I didn't expect Kyle to agree to a collaboration with him this quickly! But I love that he does 🙂 though Duncan is not amused about it all.. what will he answer to this next?

    and I cought a little something @alexwoolfson:disqus 🙂

in panel 2, Kyle's bigger speechbubble you forgot an "i" and wrote "willng" ^^

  • Shihchuan

……does it count as “called it” if I called the bottom panel while at the top of page ? :p (I thought it’d be an “enough” towards more taunting, not pleading to conscience, but anyway……)

  • Chris Dangerfield

There is so much to love about this page you three!!

There are a zillion good comments below, but I’m going to pick a couple that may have been touched on but are worth the repeat (ha). I mean other than my standard overworked talk about how “gold-standard” the art and writing consistently is in this Graphic Novel…

    1) I love the way these last few pages have ramped up with Kyle’s rant. I (shamefully) remember snarking (mebbe a wee bit) in the past (post-hell date) chapters about how silent our hero was. Was he really going to be THE guy?

What these last few pages really show is how this entire experience — the being duped by Duncan, Kyle’s heart-breaking, his shocking discovery of big hell daddy Laampros, the illogic of so many of Duncan’s actions in relation to the idea of “world-saving,” Kyle’s (and everyone’s) observations and speculations of Team Silver’s dynamic — and so much more. All that has clearly been cycling around in Kyle’s head CONSTANTLY since his talk with Spooky after the warehouse.

His quiet on the Jet. His quiet during battle. There is that classic feeling (for both of them) that we’ve all experienced, about obsessing on what we feel WE (any of us) are most failing about. It’s true, Kyle failed to detect Duncan’s subterfuge pre-date. He was duped. HE’S BEEN STEWING! So each ranting Kyle page here, he’s been ramping and ramping in energy, invective and passion. So it’s both believable and the energy feels like true-to-life cork out of the bottle stuff.

Also for Duncan. When someone points out our failures and we secretly know they have a point and we know that some of this truth has been sitting at the back of his head all along.

What more would explain the flip-flopping monologue that we’ve SEEN than inner conflict (AND YES… I’m aware that I’ve snarked about monologuing, but now I see your grand design Alex… :P).

Well, THAT is when we most feel self-anger (because it’s with ourselves). THAT is when you get the red word bubble. Duncan is upset with himself because some of this is hitting a deep nerve. What he chooses to do is still a mystery, but he’s hear some home truths just now and truly not enjoying them.

At least for myself, I usually only get outwardly angry when I’m confronting my own mistakes and how I dislike being the one at fault (can we spell denial) and in the moment of realization is when I say the dumb thing in the red bubble.

    2) Artistically I love how calm and peaceful the squad looks. Amanda is mostly covered. So the feeling is this is an intensely private moment between the two of them. So, again it’s more believable and the focus is exactly where it should be on this page. It’s subtle staging and composition, but it really supports the drama of the moment and the intimacy of the two of them and that perversely satisfies a need (at least for me).

    3) Alex I really like Kyle’s dialog. It has a stewed on logic. He is the hero, because he is, in this moment (whether it works or not), doing his best to work Duncan in the “right way.” Just as Duncan worked him in the “wrong way.” Sure it may still be a young man vs. a crafty older one, or just too late for Duncan, but there is a truth to Kyle’s logic that can’t be denied by Duncan or us.

I even like the dig about hitting a girl. Would NOT strike a nerve with any of the others. Feck no. Amanda is the toughest of the bunch, but Kyle knows there is a bit of wannabe old-world gentleman in Duncan and he strikes right for that nerve. If anything, it shows that Kyle is NOT just another pretty tush (Mmmmmmm shower scene… oh sorry).

Kyle been saying what sounds like some of our earlier posts, as we tried to suss out what Team Silver were doing dynamically between themselves. I remember some posts talking about the difference between the Kyle and Duncan may be the fact that Kyle found family in TYP and perhaps Duncan never did. It’s the classic story about people falling into gangs because the need a family, no matter how broken.

We just saw this example with Cory, hanging with his older brother and scum because he NEEDED to belong to someone. And trust me, that because even more poignantly true for an LGBTQ person growing up. The need to find family and a ‘place’ for YOU. So, of course true for people like Kyle and Duncan. I often wondered how nasty a person I might have become with no parents or bad ones. It’s a scary thing to ponder when one has enough age to reflect on it.

So, thank you for the feeling of veracity in Kyle’s speechifying. Regardless of the results next page, it feels great for these few pages and Duncan’s reaction tells us we’ve got some truth here… and I’d like to hope we’ll get more as the book continues. Backstory is a beautiful thing.

Honestly, this sounds like the results of that argument we have all had with ourselves, alone in the car (on repeat) forty times, after a bad meeting or date. You KNOW the one? Where we let out all the mad at ourselves and talk at ourselves about all the things we “wished” we’d said in the moment and for being humanly dumb. So you rant in your head (or car) until you can put it in some perspective (yanno, when people looking over at the intersection and see you talking animatedly to yourself and you try to fake like you’re talking on the phone or singing… ‘doh).

However, when you see that other person again… you’re prepared with the things you wish you’d said that previous time. Well, that’s what this reminds me of.

Again this was a very satisfying page and I enjoyed it on every level. Go Kyle! You get a 500 point bonus for every red speech bubble. Ka-CHING! Thank you all for a great page.

  • Earl Patterson

  • TwilightDreamer

Is anyone else feeling super proud of Kyle right now? ^_^

  • D. G.

I’m surprised Duncan and Kyle talked this long. I don’t think Duncan will change course.

  • Austin King

Duncan, please listen to Kyle. Also, Spooky should really become conscious and let us know what is really going on.

  • AeryonSun

I’ve missed that red bubble…think I’ll go read Artifice now!

    • Klaus

How many red speech bubbles have we had so far? Amanda vetoing Spooky summoning a demon to eat their computer was the first, I think. And one or two others. And now this.

  • Nishyy

Guys, is there no way to choose specific chapters on the comic. Kinda new to this, wanted to read some parts again xD but didn’t wanna go through the whole thing! Any ideas?

    • You can find the Archive above the page. Either it says Archive, or if a tablet then it’s the three-lines icon on the right at the top.

  • Vaira

What can I save as a bookmark to always show me the latest page?
Also – could we get a favicon?

    • Klaus
    • You have to edit your YP bookmark to this: (copy and paste into your url address)

You can read the FAQ above the page, find the point about comic navigation, for exactly how to do it.
Klaus have given the link for newest page here below, but clicking that changes the webaddress. The FAQ explains what happens.

      • Vaira

Oh, thanks. I was sleepy and did not see that.

  • SofiaT

Besides the fact that angering someone by waving all their flaws in front of their faces isn’t the best way to get them to listen to you in the short-run (it can make a difference in the long-run, once they’ve had the chance to cool down and think about it but it’s absolutely useless and even counterproductive if you want instant results) there is another small detail Kyle is either forgetting or trying hard to make Duncan forget: Duncan is as tied up in this as Kyle, probably more. Whatever is keeping Kyle and the rest of TYP restrained can be removed easily.
The mark of Laampros on Duncan’s forearm is a little trickier to remove, I reckon.

And even if Duncan changed his mind about the feasibility of this plan and wished to work with the team against Sircea, he won’t do it if it means his death and/or eternal servitude to Laampros.

Heroes can pump themselves with pep-talk (“I’m a hero, this is what heroes do”) and sacrifice themselves for others. Duncan is a middle-aged cynic who thinks the “villain” card is all he’s left with and he’ll play it till the end dammit.

…now I don’t think that’s what’s going to happen in the long run, but I can’t see him thinking any other way for now.

    • Saxon_Brenton

[nods] Regardless of what Red Hot may be trying to do, in practice it’ll probably be placing seeds of doubt that will come to fruition some time in the fifth and final chapter.

      • Chris Dangerfield

Practically (real-world) speaking, I agree with both of you. However, in hard-page book-timing, and remembering that Kyle’s date was just LAST NIGHT, I wouldn’t really expect Kyle (at 18 yo +1day) to be able to be more restrained than this passionately verbal.

So, (yeahhhhh) it might not be best to poke the Grizzly when paralyzed again buttttt, on the other hand, it’s not like Kyle probably sees much to lose either way. So, he just goes for it.

Re: pep-talks, I think they are BOTH doing the same thing. Duncan’s “discussion” with Sircea at the glass box (pre-battle) was a self ‘pep-talk’ of sorts and Kyle is doing his own version here. I suspect it’s not yet time for resolution for either so “effective” no, probably not, but I agree it’s going to influence the outcome.

We saw diplomacy at it’s best with Amanda and, honestly, that didn’t effect Duncan either. So, I see this speechifying more like a rant that’s been building up and now Kyle can’t help it.

I’ll be interested to see in which ways Duncan will be influenced (if at all). Regardless, a “red speech bubble” is always exciting stuff. HA!

  • timemonkey

I really want to see what he does when he’s mad.

  • Kiri

small question: is Sircea witnessing all of this and when is she going to step in?

    • Saxon_Brenton

Hmm. Tricky question. Could go either way. I’d suspect that an argument with Annihilator raising his voice might attract her attention, so if she hasn’t paid attention so far…

  • Justin White

    i hope this works out.

  • I wonder if Duncan’s yell might wake the rest of the team from slumber land.

    • Tyler Griffin

it should definitely at least get a raised eyebrow from Dear Sirsea

      • “Darling, we discussed this. Guest first, play time later.”

  • YangYueLan

Finally got to open my Kickstarter package! The book is so pretty and shiny! ^.^

  • Niggle

Just caught up reading again, woohoo!

The comment below me just reminded me that you started shipping our Kickstarter packages about a month ago. Can’t wait to get mine. 🙂

    • Klaus

      Welcome back.

      • Niggle

Thank you very much. Feels kind of weird to have to catch up on so many pages, but I dropped so many habits last year. Maybe I’ll get back to reading regularly again. 😀

  • Jason Moon

I was wondering when it was going to get the The Power Of Love.

  • Kate G

  • Hello campers!!

    • Kate G

Hello dear Jane! How was your Friday?

      • Hiya Kate! Rather uneventful. I like uneventful.

        • Kate G

Yea, uneventful is good. I can’t believe how late I slept in. I guess when you don’t get to bed until 5:30 because your aching thighs won’t let you sleep (damn, that massage was wonderful…but my quads hurt SO BAD after!) I guess you’ll sleep in until 5:45. XD

          • I did have a little excitement during the week. I get to help register a gelding by my Malibu, the Andalusian stallion I used to own. It was a rather serendipitous several degree of separation that his owner found me.

The lady I sold my stallion to with held the papers because of some falling out with the previous owner of the gelding. So unprofessional. Because the lady bought Malibu via payments I was still the recorded owner at the time of the birth so, a bit of luck.

          • Kate G

That’s nice that you got an update on your baby horse (well, maybe not so baby anymore.) It’s always nice to hear about old friends (even if they are animals.)

          • The gelding, he’s doing Pre- St George Dressage. It was definitely nice to learn that Malibu threw some good foals.

          • Kate G

I don’t know much about dressage. I know Scooby was a hunter/jumper horse before his career as a therapy horse. One of the horses at our barn was an eventer horse (I’m thinking it’s Vince; he’s newer), so he did dressage. I’ve watched a little dressage but I get a little bored and go look for the jumping again. XD

          • Dressage takes a lot of patience. 😀 I did it for a little while because I kept falling off my mare when we jumped. She had a lot of scope. So I did dressage. Then with Malibu I did the breed thing for a bit, but Malibu was the type who could do dressage.

Anyway, this is Malibu, my horse once upon a time. He would be 26 this year so I don’t know if he’s still alive.

And this is his son, Indro (Rio), the one I get to help register with the Andalusians. He’s actually an Azteca – half Andalusian and half quarter horse

Oh, he’s a pretty grey. That coat had to be a bitch to keep clean. All of that white. O.O One mat from dirt and mud and I can hear the frustration.

I usually ride this guy below. I’ve also ridden Captain America, Chance, Red Rover and Apollo (if you go to “About Us” and then go to “The Horses” you can see them all.) I usually have fights with Apollo as he is super stubborn but I think I finally won the fight. He was well-behaved last time I had to ride him. LOL.

          • Scooby’s adorable. And it’s the truth that most lesson horses are very very stubborn.

Malibu was this beautiful pearl color that you really only see in Andalusians and Arabs. He would shine in the sun. And Malibu loved to be dirty. It was his favorite thing. He knew where it was the dustiest out in the pen and every morning his side was green. The snot. But he cleaned up well and there was shampoo just for white horses so that helped. It also helped that when I did the breed show with him, he lived at the trainer’s barn so they kept him clean, not me >:D

          • Kate G

HA HA HA HA HA. That jerk. I bet you would get him clean and he’d find the nearest mudhole just to get dirty again.

I’ve learned all of Scooby’s little weaknesses so he’s not so stubborn anymore. But he trips over his own feet ALL OF THE TIME so I’m always correcting my posting. I call him Klutz. He’s also a bully to other horses and his mortal enemy is Apollo. You cannot have those two next to each other. Their stalls are on the opposite sides of the barn even. I’ve taken to calling Scooby Batman and Apollo Joker. -snickers-

          • Malibu would trip when he wasn’t paying much attention to what he was doing. Of course he could have done it because he was an asshole (I mean that affectionately really). So that could be what’s up with Scooby.

You could never turn Malibu out if he was wet. Oh no no no. He would roll and roll and roll.

          • Kate G

I think he does it because he’s an ass and wants to see if I’m paying attention. All of the horses are basically not spooked by anything (the barn is getting renovated and they are basically fine. It was gusting 50-55 mph winds on Wednesday and Scooby was like, “Oh, wind. Pft.”) so he likes to trip just to be an ass. It’s his version of, “MONSTER!!!! QUICK, TAKE A LEFT!!!!!”

I’m now laughing at the thought of a wet horse rolling in sand. HA HA HA HA HA.

Did everyone survive St Patrick’s Day?

    • It was only by coincidence that I put on a pair of green socks. -_-

      • davefragments

I have that attitude too. The worst of my day was that google doodle that kept a tiny shamrock jumping all over the computer screen. My eyes are still strained.

        • It’s just such a non-event for me. I’m not a drinker nor is there any place to be social around here. Not that I’m a socializer either.

          • davefragments

I never found bars to be the places to socialize.

          • That too. I’m such a homebody, there could be places around here to go and socialize besides a bar and I wouldn’t know

          • davefragments

I’ve got to find a few around here. I’ve been like a hermit for a couple years and I have to change that.

          • Well if Sircea’s gates were a thing page night camping could be an actual thing.

          • davefragments

I have this strange thought that the darling Sircea might make an appearance today.

          • With that red bubble of doom from Duncan, I would be surprised if we don’t get a flash of her.

          • davefragments

I wonder how much Duncan is going to grouch to Sircea? I wonder if that’s possible?

          • Hahaha! I don’t think she would put up with it.

          • davefragments

well that would never strain my eyes

    • syllibub

I had to go out and buy something green because everyone at my office apparently takes holiday wear extremely seriously. At least no one threatened to pinch me!

      • davefragments

(This might sound weird for a guy)
my colors are earth tones and I can do olive green with blues and browns and look really good.

        • syllibub

Not weird. I don’t know what my colors are, just that jewel tones aren’t really flattering on me…so naturally it took some digging to find a green top that wasn’t a jewel tone this year. Figures.

          • davefragments

I’ve told women that they should revolt over the sheer commercialism and stupidity of their clothing trends.

          • syllibub

Seriously. I guess it’s all part of the capitalist machine — keep changing the trends so we have to keep buying more stuff.

          • davefragments

Ding, ding, ding, ding — you’ve won the prize.

      • I hated that as a kid!!

    • Kate G

I survived by only going to by massage. Nobody is Irish there so no pinching. LOL.

      • davefragments

Tot ell the truth, both my parent’s families came from Italy and I went to a German high school and a Scottish university. That’s about as non-irish as you can get. (well not really, but it sounds like it should be)

        • Kate G

I’m mostly German with some Scottish/English on my dad’s side and Oneida on my mom’s. Irish? Irish? Nope, I ain’t Irish.

Plus, there is hell to pay if someone pinches me on massage day. NO PINCHING! I was in enough pain. LOL. My quads still hurt.

          • davefragments

Turner Classic Movies played FINIAN’S RAINBOW yesterday. I thought that was patronizing a little bit.

          • Doki watched Darby O’Gill and the LIttle People

          • davefragments

I saw that 50 years ago and hoped I never see it again.

          • Almost watched Brigadoon, but then remembered it takes place in Scotland.

Sometimes the Irish accents make me twitch….I know there are times in DOatLP where Connery’s accent slips and I go -_-. Though I think it was only certain words…

          • davefragments

Brigadoon is definitely Scottish and I like the dancing in Brigadoon.
Finn’s Rainbow has that political streak that just put me off this year. (gee, I wonder why?)

  • davefragments

My supermarket has just got “dry aged beef.” Does anyone know anything about it?

    • Adam Black

ive heard of it for steaks.

My father used to dry hang Salamis.

      • davefragments

I’ve had home-made salamis and sausages. One of my Grandmother’s neighbors did it and that stuff was good.

The case just appeared at the supermarket and it might be “aged” and ready in 2/3 weeks. It’s going to be expensive. I only see something like a delmonico steak in it. They already sell the premium Delmonico for $20 a pound.

        • davefragments

          PS – I never pay $20 a pound for a steak.

    • Kate G

Dry aged beef? O.o Somehow that sounds like sorcery made for zombie apocalypses.

      • davefragments

I’ll try it once. So I’ll tell y’all.

    • I saw a show about it on Food Network once. Some food detective thing about which aging process was best.

      • davefragments

It already had something like mold on it.

        • Yeah, so did the stuff in the show, which I guess they cut off first.

          • davefragments

The butcher said that they will clean it to sell it.
I buy my meats in individual proportions because I don’t want leftovers in my fridge. Tomorrow, I play “blood sport” with the Easter Lamb and I’ll freeze it for the day. Those tiny lamb chops they sell are like one mouthful apiece and not worth my efforts to cook them. Beef, chicken, and pork I can get in the proper proportions for one meal.

          • Left overs are good for lunch or dinner the following night, but more than that usually ends up wasted.

          • davefragments

There was a time… Not any more.
Mine mostly ended up as fungus lab experiments in rapid growth.

          • We just up ended a few of those cultures. Left over tomato sauce, etc.

          • davefragments

I once had three different colors of mold on leftover spaghetti. I won’t do that again.

          • Never fun. We have three people living here, so most of the time leftovers get eaten.

Why Duncan, your eyes are SO big…

      • Kate G

All the better to see you with, my pretty.
