So! Looks like Kyle has no interest in anything Duncan has to say. But Commander apparently does. For the first time, we’re going to get to see another team member interact with The Annihilator. What will that be like? What does she hope to achieve? And what will The Annihilator reveal?

Tune in this Saturday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • EPIC EYE ROLL EPIC EYE ROLL!!

    • bronakopdin

Epic V with that comment xD

  • ♥♥

  • I had hoped for the eye roll, I am so not disappointed.

  • stickfigurefairytales

“Well yes, every supervillain wants an audience for his dramatic monologue.”

  • Jeldenil

Amanda <3 thank you for stepping in.

  • Sapfo

    *fall over of joy*
    Amanda speaks! =D
Wait they are still not free…. Oh dont care! Amanda! She be able to take care of him with two twist of her tongue ^^

  • stickfigurefairytales

I feel like they should get Tsunami a shirt. What if he gets cold?

    • stickfigurefairytales

Not that I am complaining, mind you.

      • T Dibbler

I’m working with the theory that he has a hard time finding shirts that fit comfortably, thus his frequent shirtlessness.

    • David Welbourn

I suspect Tsunami’s tattoo must be exposed in order for his power to work. It just… works that way. And possibly, if there’s more tattoo below the waistline, he’s normally not operating at his full potential as long as he has pants on.

    • Chris Dangerfield

      HA!

  • syllibub

    Drag him, Kyle.

I think Amanda’s got her head in the game and wants to know as much as possible about Duncan’s plan while there’s still time on the clock.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Agreed!

    • That’s why she’s the Commander for sure.

    • Chris Dangerfield

Kyle is quite satisfying here. The only thing he hasn’t done is tell everyone (loudly) that Duncan is LOUSY in bed and a rotten date. Heh.

I’ll just quietly wait for that moment Alex. Thank yew kindly… 😀

  • He he Mitch ^_^

  • Cman65

    good get him talking

  • Cman65

    good get him talking

  • Kate G

I love how Kyle is drawn in these panels. The hardest part about having your ‘brows covered is that showing emotions is very, very hard (even having them glued over and erased makes expressing emotion difficult!) The use of his eyes, and the fact his mask moves a little helps express the emotion he feels well, plus the way his hair moves often shows his bristling emotions.

Kyle, I’m proud of ya–you stood up for yourself. However, NOT THE RIGHT TIME! You have a rapport with Duncan; use that rapport to twist Duncan into giving all the info (like what Amanda is trying to do.)

TAKE IT BACK! TAKE IT BACK! You still have time to reel him back in!

(Also, is it Thursday yet? I get my next tattoo on Thursday! Come on, let it be Thursday!)

    • Columbine

I’ve been thinking about masks and the way they’re drawn in superhero comics quite a bit. Making them move with eyebrows is the sensible thing to do from the artists perspective- I’ve been toying with more solid masks for a while though and different ways to have the characters emote when so much of the face is covered. Body language works but in a situation like this it falls down. Changing the font is open to interpretation and can be difficult to read. Then again the mouth alone conveys a lot of emotion.

      • Kate G

The mouth can convey a lot but not so much as they eyes. I mean, if you’re autistic, we learn “emotion” by looking at facial expressions in picture books or games like Guess Who? All of them tend to have exaggerated expressions starting with the eyes and eyebrows. It translates into comics too. So, take out the eyebrows and it becomes difficult because you can have the same mouth shape, but different eyebrow positions dramatically change the expression.

One thing I always give credit in DC is how they make masks “human” when they switch over to live action. Part of it is definitely the actors behind them; but it takes the costume department too. Shows like Arrow and The Flash really show how bringing a mask or cowl alive can transform how expression can be translated from comic to live action.

        • Columbine

Gods the actors in Flash and Arrow are amazing and yes the costume department really did a fantastic job bringing all that to life.

You’re totally right about the eyes and eyebrows. Not being able to see them takes away a lot. I guess that’s part of why the idea interested me, the challenge. It could potentially add into the plot as well I guess- if the other characters can’t see the person’s face/emotions clearly than neither can the reader and they’re guessing just like everyone else.

    • bronakopdin

I desperately waited for Thursday, too, as I was supposed to get my new glassed on Thursday (aftr nearly 6 years)
screw that, I got the notice today, so I go hem early o/
have fun with your tattoo 😀

      • Kate G

Ha! I have to wait until Thursday (which means…later today!) because the guy I have to meet with isn’t in UNTIL THURSDAY! I’ve only been waiting to do this since…September.

Well, if you want me to be really honest, I’ve been waiting since the day after I got the last one. I got the horseshoes on August 21. >.< It's really about finishing the healing process.

        • bronakopdin

I don’t have a tattoo (so expensive and admittedly I’m feeling a little unconfident) but I bet the healing process is a pain in the @ss… depending on where it is even washing yourself must be troublesome? like is a shower even possible? I really don’t know though xD

          • Kate G

Showers (10-20 minute ones; not my 40 minute ones) are encouraged, baths are discouraged as baths can cause infections or cause the ink to seep out. The healing process can be bothersome but worth it. Everyone dislikes the peeling process as it’s both itchy and disgusting plus you aren’t allowed to speed up the process by peeling it off (takes ink off.)

I didn’t want any tattoos until last year after my grams died. I felt I needed a way to celebrate her and to remind myself she’s with me always. I’m not exactly the most confident of people and not all people with ink are. For some people, tattoos become a method to tell the stories we want to remember always or a way to celebrate the people/things/events that impacted us most. It’s also a way to celebrate our favorite fandoms obviously.

They are expensive, but that’s because they are art. Art costs money and that’s why you save up for an original piece of art by your favorite artist (or to commission a piece by one.) People who get tattoos do the same but it’s only going on their skin.

          • bronakopdin

I never questioned the reason as to why they are expensive as it’s obvious actually xD
still I don’t have the money, I live from very less and can hardly save anything, the fact that I needed to save up 5 years to get new glasses which are essential to my everyday life is one of the results.
Now I also need a new bed/couch and also a new PC at some point since this one is 8 years old, the battery is already dead, it has funny troubles at times etc. no idea when I’ll be able to get the money for this tough as a bed will come first again ^^’
I appreciate art a lot but it’s not a question of not valuing it or being willing to safe, I just can’t at this point.
Maybe if I’ll finally be able to finish my studies and get a job and don’t have to live from part-time and blood donations

          • Kate G

I’m now thankful I live at home. I don’t have to worry so much about some things. My custom PC is old (It got revamped in 2006), but works and I don’t mind it. It did get a new motherboard recently but it was a hand-me-down from my brother because he upgraded (I get all the hand-me-downs. This whole PC is made up of hand-me-down parts.)

I don’t work because my lupus isn’t very stable which means I’d most likely get fired from spending so much time at home. I do have to pay for certain things though. I paid to frame my Kelly McKernan print that I got from my aunt (I cried over the $100+ price tag.) I paid for my tattoos. I paid and/or pay for my printer, my bedding, my expensive dresses, yarn, crochet magazines, organizing junk (organizing junkie), and books.

98% of the furniture in my room is hand-me-downs and I found one on the side of the road. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why someone would put a 100% pure walnut side table that was only scratched up out on the side of the road. Well, one man’s trash is my craft table. It was SO HEAVY. So worth it though.

          • bronakopdin

It’s good that you’re able to live at home and can recieve so many hand-me-downs 🙂
I got my washing mashine from a neighbor of an uncle as they got a new one, it is 15 years old now but it still works, thank god! Yet I have to pay for rent/groceries/clothing/electricity/phone/internet/health insurance etc
I don’t even have any other insurance (apart from my glasses and that one is really cheap thank god xD)
and obviously I paid for all my furniture at some point, it was a long-term process and ofc not every piece was new but bought, though I did actually buy new ones a lot! As it kills the purpose if you have to renew them after a short while if they’re already too rundown. My current couch/bed has 10 years now and my back feels it so I’ll get a new one next >_<'
but when I have work one day I'll hopefully be able to get these things faster 🙂
I have a friend with lupus and can imagine your situation, at least a little, as I bet it varies from person to person, but it's even better that you can still live at home then!

          • Kate G

Most of my stuff is from my gramps aka the hoarder of furniture. Someone tells him they are getting rid of some really great piece, he’ll take it because he’ll know one of us will probably need it at one point. My two rocking chairs where both inherited pieces. My mattress was actually a new mattress from one of my gramps’ kids who HATED it. It is now 17 years old and I am in dire need of a new one. Ow.

Lupus is a little bit like Autism (something I also have) and that it differs case to case. Not as widely as Autism, but everyone is a little bit different. The good part is I can be somewhat independent because I do qualify for things like food cards (we call them SNAP cards here) so I can get food for myself that no one else can eat (because it really does suck when you go to get a TV dinner and your mom ate it.)

          • bronakopdin

            Your gramps is awesome 😀
and I guess you really need a new matress! If only my couch would have been as comfortable as a matrass x’D but it’s in progress!
yeah I thought as much as lupus is far from your everyday condition, often if I tell someone my friend has lupus they ask “what?” autism is more well known I guess, but having both I think it is amazing that you can live the way you do!

          • Kate G

I’ve had Autism since I was born. Ditto epilepsy and asthma. I really don’t know what it’s like to be normal. Normal is, like, an odd concept. Neurotypical people need some crazy if you ask me.

Man, now I sound like the Joker.

          • bronakopdin

well what is “normal” anyway, especially nowadays ^^
and LOL sounding like the Joker is not a bad thing xD

  • T Dibbler

Yay Commander! Kyle’s reaction is totally understandable and I’d be shocked if he’d reacted in any other way, but Commander is a) less emotionally involved, and b) a good leader, so her response here is great.

On a side-note: Is Fluke still unconscious? Because I bet he’d have a few choice invectives to hurl at Annihilator for hurting Kyle.

    • Chris Dangerfield

      Indeed. A++ eye roll.

  • uptheplatoon

Don’t shoot me folks, but doesn’t Amanda read minds? She could be asking because she’ll know whether or not it’s true.

    • T Dibbler

I think all their powers are cancelled out right now? So I would assume that would include her psychic abilities.

      • uptheplatoon

Okay, theory adjustment: being able to read minds has likely given her better than most body language interpolation skills. She is obviously more likely than the emotionally wounded Kyle to evaluate the validity of Duncan’s claims correctly.

        • T Dibbler

I agree with that – she’s got a lot of experience at keeping a level head, and assessing people and situations objectively, plus as you say she’s not emotionally-wounded like poor Kyle in the current situation, so she’s in a better position to judge if Duncan’s telling the truth, and what response would be the most sensible from a ‘protecting the world’ perspective.

    • Duncan employed a power dampner near the end of chapter 3 canceling out all their powers except his since he also employed a personal anti-dampner. Though it’s possible that Spooky may not be affected as a magic user since it appears that Sircea is unaffected

  • uptheplatoon

  • D. G.

Amanda is clever. She’ll use this to gather info to fight with logic and also use this as a stalling tactic. Wen will help arrive Alex!?!?

    • Klaus

      Too late.

      • Chris Dangerfield

Yeah… I think you’re right. It was rather “too late” a couple of months ago. LOL.

  • I wanna jump a year or two into the future just to see the Annihilator and Kyle get back together

    • timemonkey

Because nothing is better than an abuse victim running back to their abuser because they’re so sorry.

      • 1 thing is better than that, and that’s sexy older men with super powers

  • DarkJokerOfAmuro

god DAMN Kyle is fucking hot (no pun intended) when he’s angry

  • DarkJokerOfAmuro

  • Really, Anni? You expected Kyle to listen to you? To believe you? At this juncture? Too soon, sirrah! Too soon.

    • D. G.

      That is pretty crazy.

    • SofiaT

You know what they say about hope -dying last and all.
He expected it? Probably not. He hoped for it? Apparently.

      • I’ll give you that. Duncan sure is an enigma.

        • SofiaT

Really? Not to me -I kinda… get him?

All more proof that he and I are soulmates. 😀

          • Maybe I should say complex instead. There are so many sides to him..

          • SofiaT

Isn’t that why we love him? 🙂

          • True. Though I admit there are a couple of sides that could use a good Gibbs’ smack, to get them on the right track. 😀

          • SofiaT

While he makes me “tsk” quite often, I wouldn’t have him any other way!

          • 🙂

      • bronakopdin

yep I always teach and preach this, my name means hope btw xD

    • Columbine

……And now I’m hearing your comment in Trevor Noah’s voice.

    • Klaus

Even if he gets to live forever, it will still be too soon.

    • Chris Dangerfield

      See, that’s where I agree.

Regardless of the truth of the entire situation. The truth of “the walls.” The truth (or lack of it) in Sircea and Laampros’ machinations. The truth FOR Kyle is that the hell-date-spell required Duncan to gain Kyle’s absolute (and very vulnerable) trust and then smash it.

One doesn’t recover from that. It’s like child abuse or rape. As a victim, you may get better and recover somewhat with time but, in my experience, it never simply goes away. The victim is forever changed.

      And we are talking YESTERDAY…

  • Really, Anni? You expected Kyle to listen to you? To believe you? At this juncture? Too soon, sirrah! Too soon.

  • Nirgal

Am I the only one who thinks Commander might actually believe Anni?

Looking back to Spooky’s interlude comic, Spooky knew that the walls between earth and hell were weakening way, way back, right when he came out of hell, and I would find it hard to believe that he didn’t share that knowledge with Amanda.

So this situation might lend itself to a truly interesting possibility…

    • SofiaT

Commander is a good leader. As a good leader, she has to think through all scenarios, examine every possibility. I don’t think she believes Anni per se, but she believes he might be telling the truth. And it’s her duty to examine the possibility.

Unlike Kyle, she’s not ruled by her emotions here.

      • EyeDontNo

She believes Anni is telling the truth “as he sees it”. Whether she believes Anni is seeing clearly is another matter.

        • Nirgal

That’s the point. I think Commander may be in a unique position not only to believe in Anni’s sincerity, but also to believe that what he’s saying is real.

          • Chris Dangerfield

I agree. And unlike Duncan, she can see more clearly if he’s indeed being duped… or to be more exact… in what way.

        • Nirgal

That’s the point. I think Commander may be in a unique position not only to believe in Anni’s sincerity, but also to believe that what he’s saying is real.

    • From Amanda’s point of view, Duncan has no motivation to lie at this point. So either
      1. he’s right, and so this is very important info OR
      2. he’s wrong, and she has a chance to convince him and throw a spanner into Sircea’s machinations

Either way, she’s also buying badly needed minutes for when the military arrive.

  • Ouch, Big D. Kyle truly has reached the point where he’s just fed up with anything he say. What a joy when you’re finally ready to talk your heart out, right? Right?

Kyle is shocked and not too pleased when Amanda takes over, but she has read Duncan spot on. He has a serious need to explain himself, to be heard, to be understood.. and maybe in some weird way he needs to feel forgiven?
This is like wanting absolution. ‘Dear pure hearted one. I’m about to release hell on earth, but it’s for you I’m doing it, so forgive my actions. Please do’.

I don’t know right now. Like last page this is one to stir up emotions. On this page, right now, Duncan isn’t making me want to slap him (again, again). I’m just.. I’ve reached a point where he makes me sad. He’s almost.. pitiful.
Maybe it’s because I just woke up (I’ve been snoozing and checking for page every 15-20mins for the last 2-3 hours, because I didn’t fall asleep until less than 45mins before clock went off), and I’ve not ‘digested’ it enough for contempt to fully set in, but Duncan is just, yes, pitiful.

As much as I’m with Kyle, and want to stomp on Duncan for what he’s done to him, Amanda has it right idea here. Listen to him, be it for information (since he so willingly want -and needs- to give it), and give him the chance to pour his heart out (then we can rip it to shreds later on), but do it.
Right now, in a strange way, it’s probably a good thing that Kyle and Amanda are the only ones awake and talking. No one other than Kyle to give Duncan an earful of cussing.

    • Columbine

I think whatever he’s done a lot of villains like the Annihilator are a little sad. I mean this guy seems to have wanted a normal life and love- but he’s become this instead….and now he doesn’t know how to do or be anything else. That’s kind of sad.

      • Chris Dangerfield

        I hear what you’re saying, but I don’t think it’s a villain “thing.” Rather a human one.

That’s why it’s so important to learn to love and flex when one is young. It takes flexibility, and a growing sharing self-awareness that is shared. We ALL know relationships are not easy.

People simply become more set in their ways as they age and it’s sad AND hard when you reach Duncan’s age and you suddenly discover you want love (especially from an eighteen year old virgin). So yeah, that would be sad for anyone. I’d imagine the villain thing (current or past) would just make it harder and sadder.

        • Columbine

No, it’s not particular or unique to villains but you do tend to see it in sympathetic villains. That….’what if’- the idea that their life could have been better, and it’s mostly their own fault it’s bent out of shape but you can perhaps see how it got there and why they made each decision along the way.

I’m a sucker for sympathetic villains.

    • Chris Dangerfield

I also don’t think Kyle is really mad at Amanda for jumping in. (Totally inserting myself into it) He’s just in full-on grumpy pants mode (and deservedly). Anyone could say something at this moment and get that glare from him… Not that that EVER happens to meeeeeee.

      Regardless, Amanda knows all…

      • Nope, he’s not mad at her, but his temper is on fire – as you said, fully understandible.
He’s not happy about anything right now, and royally pissed at Duncan (being a ‘prince of hell’ he can truly be that). He was just not done with Duncan himself, but Amanda took over. She needs info and the clock is ticking.

        • Chris Dangerfield

No question that Amanda is doing the right thing. So agree. Just love Kyle’s grumpy face. I’m finding it very satisfying (as if anyone couldn’t tell). LOL.

          • We’ve been waiting for Kyle’s opportunity to give Duncan a tongue lashing. He’s needed one, and Kyle needed to be less vunerable around him.. ehh, at least mentally >.<

He's tied up (again), but this time he's neither alone or taken by surprise.
            *Grrr* timing just sucks.

  • If touching Kyle really did counteract the dampener a little, the best thing Duncan could do right now is touch Amanda in the hope she could read his mind. Of course, what that would do to Kyle’s state of mind…

We’ve already seen him argue with Sircea about asking the kids to help them voluntarily as Spooky’s magic may be strong enough for what they need to do, with the strong implication that he’d really rather not be literally dealing with the devil if he can find any alternative. So I think he’s being honest right now, and I don’t think he’d have a problem with letting Amanda see what he’s thinking.

  • Michael

Commander being the voice of reason again. And Kyle growing a pair and speaking up for himself.

What’s not to love about this page?

Dunc looks so shocked that suddenly Kyle hates him,

    • Chris Dangerfield

      Hear hear here!

  • Gregory In Seattle

Good for her: get the villain to start monologuing, and you will stay alive because every villain loves a captive audience. That gives you the time you need to either think of an escape plan or wait for the cavalry to arrive.

And he fell for it. Surely, someone as supposedly smart as Duncan would have read the Evil Overlord’s List, right?

    • HermeticallySealed

Well, let’s be honest here, Duncan made it clear he doesn’t want them dead anyways, no need to talk him into not doing it. And I really don’t think getting him to talk is going to delay anything, as this is really just Sircea’s show. I think Amanda honestly wants to know what he believes is going on. Duncan is a villain, but it’s pretty clear that he’s lawful evil

  • Amanda

Kyle is looking pissed that Amanda is talking to Duncan. I feel bad for Kyle having been through so much emotionally.

This webcomic grips you tight and keeps you wanting to know what happens next, thank you so much for all your hard work.

    • You’re very welcome, Amanda! Thank you for your kind words! 🙂

    • Wildroses

I really love his expressions in the last few panels. Seriously, Amanda?!

  • TwilightDreamer

awww….Kyles face in the third panel is making me want to cry…this conversation was inevitable, but that makes it no less sad…. 🙁
You go Amanda, choosing words that both defend Kyle and bring them back to the situation at hand.

  • ikeamonkey89

Loving Kyle’s expression in the first panel.

  • Aitsuki

Good boy, Kyle. You know what they say; fool me once…..

  • Matt Lovinski

I got to say for Anni’s sake I hope he’s telling the truth, out of all the characters in this series Anni’s character is my favorite. He can be both good and bad so easily and both roles suit him equally well..really don’t want to him lose his relevance to the female goblin king o.o

  • Mary Klemzak

    You tell him, Kyle!

And do tell Commander Amanda. We’d all love to know whats going on in that peanut brain of yours. The thing with psychopaths is that, they do believe that what they are doing is right. Even building a portal to hell because you’re scared of growing old.

Or is there another reason? Like there’s a valid one to justify all this.. Yikes.

    • HermeticallySealed

Actually, we already know what Duncan believes he is doing. Sircea has him convinced that the wall separating the demon world from the physical world is weakening. They made the deal in order to use Kyle’s dad’s powers to maintain the wall around one hemisphere, allowing her enough time to figure out how to solve the wall problem long term. As far as he has claimed to believe in conversations with Sircea, and stated away from Kyle, he thinks they are saving as many people as they can, instead of letting demons rampage across the whole world.

Duncan does believe Sircea when she told him that they are doing the only thing they can to save the world. And let’s face it, Duncan is a self proclaimed good of the many outweighs the good of a few type person on this matter. Now, whether or not Sircea is being completely honest with him? That’s another issue entirely, and we have seen that Duncan is beginning to doubt her.

I would think, if anything, that the issue will come down to if Amanda can convince him that Spooky knows of an alternate way. Duncan already brought up the possibility to Sircea before as an alternative to killing the hostages in the ritual, and even though she dismissed it, I would bet he did not do so as casually as she did.

      • SofiaT

        What I don’t know is what’s his Plan B.

You don’t get to be The Annihilator without always having a Plan B.

While he’s willing to sacrifice the many to save the few, I wonder if he also has a plan to defeat the demons after they’ve arrived on earth… In which case “sacrifice” is really just “risk”.
Provided that his contract with Laampros doesn’t prevent him from it and that he won’t forfeit his life by doing so, of course.

So, if there’s a Plan B, now it would be a good time to share it and I’d be all ears.

  • Nate

Give him Hell, Kyle! (pun intended)

And Amanda… if you are doing what I think you’re doing, it might not work. You aren’t his type. 😀

(For the record… getting him to monologue not only buys time, and gathers valuable intel, but it also gives her the opportunity to negotiate with him. Somehow, tho, I don’t think offering him a candy bar will work, tho).

    • Nate

      Although….

      “Duncan? Have a Snickers™ bar!”
      “Why?”
      “You become a real super-villain when you’re hungry…”
      “Better?”
      “Better!”

(Those of you with Photoshop skills, feel free to make this a meme. 😉 )

      • Chris Dangerfield

        Oh please!

    • SleepingDragon

Makes perfect sense really, she is resorting to the only course of action that they have available. If she gains nothing from the conversation it hardly makes their position worse.

Plus telepaths usually go one of two ways, either they become very bad with people because they’re so used to just using their powers… or they become very good with people because they got a better understanding of what makes the mind tick. If Spooky’s backstory is any indication it seems like Amanda is the latter so I get a feeling she’s going to try to get into Duncan’s head even without her powers.

      • Columbine

Amanda missed her true calling as a con-artist 😛 Watch as she talks Duncan the Annihilator into letting her poor defenseless little self out of the containment field….and knocks him unconscious.

(I know this is unlikely but I can dream!)

        • Chris Dangerfield

Now I’m picturing Amanda on a Manhattan street corner shifting cups around while a bunch of rubes try to figure out which one the ball is under. She’d be RICH!

          • Columbine

Are we, as readers, lucky or unlucky that she’s more honest? Cos I think I’d like the Hustle AU of this where Amanda is the leader of an elite con team and Kyle is the honey trap……

          • Chris Dangerfield

I see a whole new twist on THE BLACK LIST. Well done!

    • Gaël Cassetari

It’s always good strategy to know exactly what the bad guy is planning and what his motivations are.
      That girl is smart.

    • Chris Dangerfield

Finally the perfect time for a pun! Thank yew.

I think Duncan likes monologuing more than sex, so you never know.

NEVER denigrate the power of a really good chocolate bar. 😀

  • Wildroses

Well this was a perfect comic as far as I’m concerned. Kyle made it very clear to Duncan that what he did made him utterly unwilling to give him any chances instead of meekly listening, even to do something as minor as explain, but I’m still going to get my eagerly anticipated Exposition-a-thon thanks to Amanda. Most writers would have probably have Kyle meekly listen just as a way of explaining to the reader what the hell is going on (unintentional pun, I swear).
It’s a nice little window into Amanda’s character. Even helpless and beaten she is still keeping her wits about her and looking for tactical advantages to exploit.

    • Chris Dangerfield

Ya gotta love how calm she is. I suspect she was born her sh*t together. She’s a sharp one.

  • Mir

Ah ha! So they could talk this whole time. Unless Duncan touching Kyle’s face made everyone suddenly have the ability to do so.

Good on you Kyle for keeping your ground.

Is Amanda reading his mind to see if he will speak the truth? Hmmm..

  • AeryonSun

God I love this entire page! Kyle standing his ground, the Commander trying to get more info so she can salvage this mess…it’s perfect. I just love Amanda! Such a strong leader!

  • Pikinanou

Yeah, make him spill the beans, Commander. Super villains love to explain their plan 🙂

  • Jac

    SO SPICE. Go Kyle, go!

So proud of that boy :’)

  • Chris Dangerfield

Thanks Alex, Adam and Veronica. This page goes a long way toward helping detox my prior hissy fit. Thank you too Kyle. 😀

Now, does Amanda understand how she’s imperilling the world, the universe, all our sanity, by inviting THAT man to monologue further. Doesn’t physics mandate an upper limit on monologuing before the universe implodes… or cross-collides… or something? That would be HELL ON EARTH (oh yeah….).

Very satisfying page guys. Thank you. Now, why do I imagine Sircea, off stage right, tapping her foot with arms crossed… HA!

  • Saxon_Brenton

My inner peanut gallery just wants to say:
Duncan, they’re playing good cop/bad cop with you. I don’t care whether they’re doing it deliberately or not, or even if they’re consciously aware that they’re doing it at all. They just are. Quit while you’re ahead, put your ego back in its box, and go help the Platinum Priestess fix the bone gate.

    • Chris Dangerfield

I’ve always said you had one of the most sensible inner peanut galleries around… 🙂

    • Derkins

lol whose side are you on? XD

  • Jason Moon

    Sure, she’ll listen…
It’s just what she does AFTER THAT that you should worry about, Dunc.(Do I hear the sound of a shoe dropping? What the hell made people pick that metaphor, anyway?)

    • JozefAL

The answer presumably deals with apartment/tenement living in New York City in the 19th century. All the apartments had the same floor plan so that your bedroom would be right below someone else’s. When your upstairs neighbor took off one shoe, you’d “wait for the other shoe to drop” before you knew it’d be safe to fall asleep.

      (per https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/wait_for_the_other_shoe_to_drop )

    • HermeticallySealed

I think the real question here is, just how much does Spooky know about the walls weakening, and how much has he shared with Amanda. We have to remember that Amanda has all the info on Duncan that is available, and while Duncan has done stuff, this type of plan, from what has been revealed to us at any rate, is a bit extreme for him. Sircea, probably not. I can imagine that she has enough info to know that he can be convinced to change his mind if given the right information.

We’ve already seen in conversations between Duncan and Sircea that he isn’t as sold on this plan as she is. It’s quite possible Amanda picked up on that fact before hand.

  • Jay Demetrick

I think Fluke’s power will be the wild card here. How can you “block” luck powers? By it’s very definition, that would be about the unluckiest thing to possibly happen to Fluke. Which makes me think something completely chaotic will happen to the power blocking devices.

    • Chris Dangerfield

Okay, that’s just interesting. I hadn’t thought of that at all.

    • T Dibbler

I like your thinking, but what really counts as ‘luck’ to Fluke’s powers? The power-damping didn’t happen by chance, it was the result of deliberate action (the power-damping field was deliberately developed to be a power-damping field, and it was deliberately employed by Duncan to incapacitate his opponents). If you remove the element of chance, then it’s not ‘unlucky’ that their powers got dampened, it’s just a bad thing that someone made happen on purpose.

I mean, if the power-damping field had been unintentionally activated, or if they’d accidentally wandered into range without meaning to, that would be unlucky, but having someone deliberately use it on them takes away the ‘luck’ aspect IMO.

Edit: I was aiming for ‘musing’ in my tone there, because your comment made me think, but I think I hit ‘arrogant’ instead. Sorry.

The film to watch when making longevity bargains with a King of Hell is DEATH BECOMES HER – Trailer ( 1992 )
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7sMilQeVHk

Meryl Streep has the best line ever when she says, “And NOW a word of warning?”

    • davefragments

I hope you realize that I meant Dante Alighieri and not Joe Dante.
I haven’t seen “Death Becomes Her” in a number of years. Yes, those two did make a deal with the devil.
There are a large number of books and screenplays that deal with immortality as a burden and not a benefice.

      • Chris Dangerfield

Oh, I know you were being lofty. Love Alighieri. Now that is good theatrics, but Catholics do give you good theater. Nope, I just plunged into the pit with my love for M. Streep. 🙂

        • davefragments

          I wasn’t being lofty…
I was pointing out that the gateway to Hell is paved with good intentions. Duncan is crossing a line that damns him forever. (added) Duncan is passing through that portal Dante says is inscribed with those words…
And the other question is “What stays behind beyond death?” or “What is truly immortal?”

          • davefragments

            I added a line

          • Klaus

Who was it who said “We are all immortal for a limited time.”?

          • davefragments

            So true.

          • Chris Dangerfield

            Nice.

          • Chris Dangerfield

Don’t kid yourself all these lines were ‘lofty’ … well done.

        • Derkins

I loved “Death Becomes Her” as a child, but the final scene disturbed me to no end. I watched it recently and I still find it disturbing. :p

          • Chris Dangerfield

I agree. I only survived it because it was such a good cartoon in the way the film treated it. The idea itself is pretty horrific though.

  • Chris Dangerfield

Why do I think that Amanda has quite a few more brain cells than Duncan? Or really any of them for that matter. Hmmmm. Of course, if she delays Duncan too long, Sircea may just blast her out of sheer annoyance… 😀

    • bronakopdin

not exactly more brain maybe… it’s just that often women do things in a more clever way xD
not that guys aren’T clever… in fact you could also say women are scheming more… look at PP for example…

  • Chris Dangerfield

Okay, and loving Kyle’s “look-away” head turn in Panel #3 (I can’t see you anymore): Good day sir. I SAID GOOD DAY!

  • Justin White

this is one of those milestone thank you God.

  • Shiny Gwilly

i knew it, there’s no reason at all for Kyle to believe any of his words at this point
but yay on Amanda being tactical here “wait, i’ll listen, i wanna hear your plan”
hopefully it’ll work? maybe Anni will spill anyway since Kyle is technically listening still……though if Anni says no, he more wanted to tell Kyle, it’s not like Kyle wasn’t then going to tell the others the first chance he got? soooo, you offered, Anni, now you have to tell SOMEONE

  • davefragments

Let me ask the question this way —
In Avengers, The Age of Ultron, when Ultron is confronted at Helen Cho’s lab (he’s making himself a body) and he gets away, he takes Natasha (The Black Widow) with him and throws her in a cell. And he has a reason for this rather weird behavior (After all, shouldn’t an evil overlord simply destroy or kill the good guys?) … Ultron admits that he has no one and he wants someone to talk to. She’s it. Ultron is lonely. Ultron has to brag. Ultron has an ego.

    So does Duncan, the Annihilator.

    • Chris Dangerfield

      Point.

  • HermeticallySealed

I’m not really sure exactly why people think Amanda talking to Duncan is an attempt to stall. Stall for what? He’s not wanting them killed or harmed, so talking isn’t stalling against that. Talking isn’t going to slow down that timer, and I am pretty sure that fomenting an escape plan would be a lot easier without one of the big baddies standing there chatting it up.

We’ve seen both Duncan and Sircea’s actual thoughts on what they are doing, and it’s pretty clear Duncan is only doing this because she convinced him there was no other way. I think Amanda is just being a good leader, and trying to gather information to fill in the gaps. I have to believe that with her close affiliation to Spooky, she is herself privy to what is going on with the wall between worlds. I don’t see her stalling so much as looking for some sign of doubt in Duncan which she can use to convince him that another option exists. And it would be a good move if true, as even Duncan tried to see if Sircea had considered an option of working with Spooky, rather than do the ritual.

Duncan clearly has a code of morality, albeit one that is self serving. He has lines that, based on previous information, he is not likely to cross if he doesn’t have to. Unfortunately, for the heroes and captives, Sircea has him convinced that he must cross those lines.

    • SofiaT

      Exactly.

  • bronakopdin

very very late tot he party but actually glad to even still get here as I had no connection all day T___T
at first I thought my modem kicked the bucket as it just refused to connect for hours (had no landline either) but later at work I heard half of my city was offline and it was my provider x’D
thank god it wasn’t my hardware…

    *cough* back to topic

I expected Kyle to say this and I highly approve!
I also approve to Amanda jumping in and hear him out anyway
it can’t harm and as she said, listening is one thing, believing another. At least this way Kyle is not the addressee anymore so it shouldn’t be too personal (apart from the fact that a serious explanation shouldn’t even be personal)
In any case, I guess we’ll finally hear more now!

  • Jac

    u wot m8

  • Twila Lin

They could find out of there telling the truth or not just by giving her immunity to the effects of the power dampining device. They have the rest of her pals, not like she can do much against that. Let her read their minds and find the turth to it. 😛

  • fujoshifanatic

Good on you Kyle, for telling Annie off–no uke hysterics to be found here! 😀 And Amanda is being awesome as always, putting her anger or frustration aside enough to assess the entire situation before figuring out a plan of action. Poor Annie (not!); he’s probably going to regret not letting PP have her way with Amanda. Now we get to find out what is really behind this DemonGate debacle! Come on, Saturday….

  • Pinkfeiry

yeah sorry to break this to you man, but there are consequences for your actions

  • Derkins

Kyle definitely needed to say all that, and Duncan needed to hear it. He clearly never realized the gravity of what he did to Kyle. I’m still glad Amanda is there with the cooler head, though, so we can finally have some reveals on this whole situation though. o-o

  • KryX

This could lead to some great make-up sex.

    • Chris Dangerfield

Absolutely. Between Sircea and Laampros. I’m ready for some fireworks!

  • Susan Simon

How is the rest of the team still out?

    • I honestly would not be surprised if Mitch was the last one to wake, he was hit directly by a pretty powerful blast from PP. Kyle and Amanda probably woke up first because Anni probably didn’t hit them as hard as the others. Kyle because sentimentality? and Amanda because she is a female? Anni gets confusing when it comes to things he will and won’t do.

    • Klaus

In the case of Spooky, there was this petard, you see.

      • Chris Dangerfield

        Severely hoisted… 🙂

  • Tof Eklund

When the bad guy* who just beat you and your team wants to monologue, you let him monologue… Commander knows this, that’s why she’s the team leader.

    * “bad guy” for all values or bad guy, including world-destroying monster, misguided idealist, and hot-as-hellfire bad boy

  • Dekira

ohmygod my heart. I know I’m supposed to be on Kyle’s side but I just can’t stop feeling bad for Anni… I mean, Kyle showed him how to “love” someone again. Something that Anni of course didn’t see coming. But because of the decisions he made, he completely lost Kyle’s trust and gained hate in return, and I just feel sad for both of them… Kyle had a horrible experience of life and Anni’s just so alone….

  • Mir

Hey, I found this music video called Genghis Khan by Mike Snow. I watched it and it made me think that people who read TYP would enjoy it. It involves supervillians 😉 if this isnt allowed I understand, it just reminds me a little bit of this comic because of the twist.

~comes out of the shadows~ Wow, so behind I was. Last I was here there were a couple pages left to the interlude, and now bam! straight into the drama. o.o I’m going to have to start reading regularly again.

  • Rick T

“Okay, little heroine. I’ll tell you all about it. Say, have you ever had authentic Chinese food? I mean really, really authentic.”

    • Chris Dangerfield

      HA!

Yanno? I did think her Colonel of a mother looked a little diabolical in the Spooky Bonus Story….

    • Klaus

I actually think he would try, if he thought there was a chance. But I also think that he knows there is not.

    • syllibub

I nearly sucked my drink into my lungs by mistake. Nice!

  • Saxon_Brenton

Apropos of nothing, I just noticed that for a group of people who have just fought a battle that ended with them lying unconscious in the mud, the Young Protectors’ costumes look mighty clean. They seem to have scuff marks and dirt on the skin of their faces, but only Spooky has obvious damage to his clothes. I guess Spooky doesn’t wear a costume made out of self-cleaning nano fabric, or unstable molecules, or whatever the name for the appropriate handwave technology is in this universe.

    • Mitch landed on a cushion of Spooky’s magic.

    • davefragments

Spooky and Edna Mode were having an argument.

      • Spooky and Edna Mode have a history.

        • Tyler Griffin

          “NO CAPES!”
          “It’s NOT a cape, it’s a trench coat!”
*Glaring while tapping fingers on arm of chair*

        • Chris Dangerfield

Who doesn’t Spooky have history with? That’s the real question. 😀

        • davefragments

My mind has been working overtime with the possibilities of that “history.”

    • I also believe the stain on Sppoky’s pants is from the wound Anni gave him with the shuriken.

    • Chris Dangerfield

FORM-FITTING I believe the key word you want for their costumes is hand-gropingly hand-wavingly form-fitting.

I have a nsfw of Spooky hanging above my ‘puter. So no worries there, I’m covered. (WHAT? TMI?)

  • Dannysmartful

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG, MY BOOK CAME IN TODAY AND ALL THE GOODIES!!! ITS CHRISTMAS IN FEBRUARY! I WAS JUMPING UP AND DOWN!!! A million hugs and kisses, this is the best~!!!!! 😀

    • Yay!!!

    • That is totally awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your reaction. You’ve made my day! 🙂

      • Chris Dangerfield

The dam has been breached and now a river of TYP goodies shall begin to flow worldwide. Actually I imagine it will look a lot like Laampros minions flowing through the unlocked hell-ring.

It will just smell a LOT better. 😀

      • davefragments

Are you using the US Postal Service or United Parcel?

        • USPS

      • davefragments

Are you using the US Postal Service or United Parcel?

  • Chris Dangerfield

Actually the talk below about costumes makes me have to say that sfw shot of Amanda and the punching bag (it’s also above on this page) is really rather hot.

Does anyone know… does this put my gay card in jeopardy? I mean anyone???

    • Only if it puts my straight card in Jeopardy, because I agree 🙂

Wasn’t there an earthquake or something like that near you? Or, am I a few thousand miles wrong?

Not that I’m aware of. Where do you think I am?

          • davefragments

            New Zealand?

          • Michael

Right hemisphere, but a few thousand kilometres too far south east.

          • davefragments

Oops. I read something about an earthquake in that part of the world and just internalized it as “near” … I’ll blame it on a lousy week that is ending better than it began.

No worries, I occasionally ask my New York friends how they’re coping with the drought.

I am so sick of politics tonight that I think I am going to watch what promises to be a rather bombastic and over-the-top disaster movie — San Andreas. Twice,. Yes, twice. There’s an extra dose of politics tomorrow and I have to stock up on my fill of “stupid” tonight.

    • Michael

I know, right? America is crazy right now. A good B-grade disaster movie is just the think you guys need right now.

      • davefragments

It is so grade B. Like B-minus-minus

        • stickfigurefairytales

San Andreas, or the United States?

          • davefragments

Both. The only thing that is mildly interesting in politics is the I-PHONE court battle.

          • Michael

Has anybody heard the new song by Tim Minchin, about the Catholic cardinal who covered up child abuse during the 70s and now refuses to face a royal commission about it?

    It’s a pretty catchy tune.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      No, but that sounds intriguing.

      • Michael

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtHOmforqxk

He’s citing health problems as the reason he’s only going to face the royal commission by videolink instead of in person.

        • stickfigurefairytales

          That is catchy!

          • Michael

Sadly, someone I know missed the point completely by saying that Tim doesn’t have the balls to call out Islamic paedophiles instead of Catholics.

Um, what? That’s completely aside from the point.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            That’s a…very bizarre response.

          • Michael

His actual words were, “I would like to see Tim Minchin have the balls to record a song condemning muslim clerics who support paedophilia, child marriage, FGM, jihad etc.”

Never mind that he, um, has

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Good Lord.

          • Michael

One television personality said is was disgusting and abusive, and should not be tolerated.

I was about to agree, until I realised he was talking about the song, and not about the actual abuse of children by paedophile priests.

  • stickfigurefairytales

I’m gonna try to go see Deadpool tomorrow. Quite surprisingly, the first person in my family to see it was my 71-year-old mother (who enjoyed it). She went with two of her oldest childhood friends, one of whom happens to be the mother of one of the two screenwriters of the movie.

    • Michael

I might try to see it tomorrow or Tuesday if I have time.

    • *hugs and cuddles stick* You are the bestest. Thanks for the card!

      • stickfigurefairytales

Yay! I’m so glad you liked it! <3

    • Deadpool was awesome!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Yay, I’m excited!

        • From the opening credits on (pay attention to those), it was just funny and lots of fun.

          • davefragments

I hear that at the very end of the movie credits, Deadpool mocks the audience.

          • You have heard correctly.

          • davefragments

Oh goodie! I hope it’s profane, too.

          • Deadpool has an incredibly foul mouth.

          • davefragments

IMDB has a parental advisory section and they counted the incidence. It’s like reading a the goldfish’s account of a shark feeding frenzy.

          • Ha! There is lots of swearing and lots of blood and lots of violence (though nothing like Taretino or horror films) and a lot of humor. The R rating is well deserved, plus there is nudity (some male)

          • ……actual male nudity? Not just the shirtless stuff?

          • davefragments

At least a butt. I want to see a butt.

          • There are butts too.

          • Actual male nudity

          • YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

          • Granted it’s mostly just a quick glimpse but it is there

          • Tyler Griffin

Kinda like Obi Wan’s penis in Trainspotting? or better?

          • Maybe. There was definite dangle. Mind you the room was on fire at the time.

          • Tyler Griffin

so, it’s nudity AND hot… Awesome.

          • I thought so. 😀

          • Like Swayze’s rear in Dirty Dancing?

          • I think more memorable than that, considering I don’t remember Swayze’s butt in that movie.

          • It is a “you will miss it if you aren’t staring at the screen” or “if you blink”. You mostly just get his butt cheek as he is getting out of bed, but it is there for half a second.

          • Tyler Griffin

OH! So, basically what Magic Mike delivered after promising us all of that Channing Tatum glory..

          • Well I was looking for it in this scene. So it is something that you’ll want to look for, but I think it’s definitely more than a butt cheek.

          • Doki rewatched that scene a lot and paused and slow played that bit..

          • Well I’m certain if Doki gets Deadpool on DVD she will be doing the same with this scene. Plus a long scene of full on Ryan’s naked butt.

          • davefragments

Oh goodie! I hope it’s profane, too.

          • You have heard correctly.

          • Tyler Griffin

Deadpool has always made fun of, heckled, and generally interacted with his readers. I’m loving how much I’m hearing about the writers keeping with the original spirit of the comic.

          • Ryan Reynolds apparently Produced because he wanted to protect it and make certain it was as true to form as possible.

          • Tyler Griffin

I have heard, and honestly, they could not have cast or otherwise done better than him from all I have read

          • I’ve always called him Van Wilder, because he was always that character to me. Who knew there was another roll that would fit him so perfectly, but it does fit him perfectly.

      • Kate G

I can’t decide whether or not to see Deadpool. I think I may wait to rent it.

        • It’s pretty funny. Though there is plenty of violence.

          • Kate G

Violence isn’t an issue for me really (as long as it isn’t Saving Private Ryan violence. OMG, I can’t handle that.) Vulgarity is another issue. I’m not that sensitive to vulgarity, but I have my limits. Knocked Up hit my vulgarity limit and THEN some.

          • I’ve only seen bits an pieces of that movie as I am so NOT a fan of whatshisface (for some reason I’m drawing a blank… oh never mind Seth Rogan. Yeah not a fan of his.

Beyond that. I wouldn’t say Deadpool is like that, but I can’t say where your limit is. I guess it’s better to safe and wait for video.

          • Kate G

I tried watching that movie (asked for it for Christmas) and was like, “NOPE, NOPE, NOPE, can’t do it. This is what college people find funny?!” (Funny as I was a college student at the time.)

I love House, MD the show and he is notoriously vulgar and sarcastic. Game of Thrones. Masters of Sex. Married with Children. Galaxy Quest (I mean, for a kid’s movie that movie can get vulgar and gross.) I can handle all of that. Hand me something like Knocked Up and I’m like, “No.” Most rap and r&b music videos I can’t tolerate either with the girls in skintight dresses with their stuff hanging out, gyrating and like making butt kissing the camera. Just, uuuuugh. It first makes me super uncomfortable and then I get super angry.

          • davefragments

I’m not a fan of Seth Rogen’s comedy either.

          • He’s just so….ugh. He’s nearly ruined the movie PAUL for me because I know he’s the voice.

          • I liked Paul.

          • I did too. I just don’t like Srth Rogan. And After learning he voiced Paul that’s all I hear now. Sigh.

          • I can understand having an aversion to certain voices. ^_^

          • It’s not really the voice so much as it’s the individual it’s attached to. At least in this case. He is such an annoying actor.

          • I can understand that too. I have a deep seeded aversion to anything Leonardo DiCaprio.

          • davefragments

I never saw the start of Saving Private Ryan but from what people told me, the Omaha Beach scene was one of the harshest and bloodiest scenes of war ever created.

            GOODFELLAS hit my vulgarity limit.

I have a “blood and gore” limit but only with stupid cannibal movies.
CABIN IN THE WOODS made me laugh it was so over the top and outrageous with the gallons and barrels of blood in one or two scenes.

          • Kate G

I have a blood and gore limit too. I have a horror limit as I’m an absolute weenie. Pan’s Labyrinth hits my gore and horror limits. I still get nightmares whenever the Pale Man comes on screen. I used to have nightmares as a kid about a monster like him.

  • syllibub

I’m eager to see where this conversation goes. Spooky knows about the walls weakening, and I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume he and Amanda have discussed the implications and brainstormed about how they might prevent a breach. If Sircea’s misleading Duncan in regard to this situation — say, by lying about her ability to fix the barrier because she only cares about locking down a slice of earth to rule by herself — talking to Amanda is probably how Duncan’s going to find out about that. So, you know. That would be interesting.

    • davefragments

I don’t think Amanda will reveal anything. She’s too tightly buttoned up for that.

  • stickfigurefairytales

I think I’m going to have to turn in early tonight. I hope you guys have fun camping!

    • Awww. Have a goodnight, Sticky!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Goodnight, Admiral!

    • syllibub

Goodnight! I hope you enjoy Deadpool if you go see it — I haven’t seen it yet, either.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thanks! You too!

    • Sorry I missed you, Stick…

    • sweet dreams!

  • Journey Saintel

Do we ever sing campfire songs?

    • I think someone wrote a camping song once.

    • Kate G

Home, home on the raaaaaaaaaaange, where the heroes and villains play…..

      • Tyler Griffin

Where seldom is heard!!!!!!! A non-sarcastic word!!!!!
Now that the Plaat-ti-nim Priestess is returned!

        • Kate G

How often a night, when the enemies fight
with the heroes at their backside!

  • So I’m in the process of trying to rebuild my website. I had to upgrade my system and my web building program was too old to be of use afterwards. So I’m starting at the ground floor with a new program. I didn’t realize how much stuff I had done over the last eight+ years. So many things have changed with web building tech.

  • davefragments

    OMG does this movie suck.
An earthquake in San Francisco and people head to the beach and the shore?
Like does anyone remember Japan and Fukushima?

    • Kate G

      Which movie are you watching?

      • davefragments

San Andreas (with Dwayne Johnson) …
It was either that or a repeat of VOLCANO.

        • Kate G

HA HA HA, I remember Volcano! That movie scared me as a kid. I think it’s still the reason I am absolutely terrified of volcanoes in some respect. I don’t want my car to melt!

          • davefragments

VOLCANO has so many thing scientific things wrong with it that I treat it like a comedy.

          • Kate G

I think all apocalyptic movies are like that! I mean, The Day After Tomorrow anyone?

          • davefragments

That sudden Ice Age was trashy but the water is rising in NYC with the storms. IT doesn’t rise that way because ther e is so much underground in NYC that every under the street gets damaged.

          • Kate G

Although, I will say, I do love Deep Impact for the shits and giggles.

          • davefragments

That’s the movie that made me despise Elijah Wood.

          • Kate G

I wasn’t even aware he was in that movie! He must have been really little in that movie!

          • davefragments

He was Leo Biederman, The kid who left the safety of the bunker on a motorcycle.

          • I liked Dante’s Peak

          • davefragments

But cars and trucks can’t drive over lava…

remember, I”m a scientist and I can see all those faults.

          • Tyler Griffin

I thought that was the standing rule for most “Action” movies??

          • davefragments

I’m not sure. I thought “Burn After Reading” was supposed to be an action flick. That left me puzzled for days.

    • I was grumbling about how it’s always earthquakes in California and Alien/Supers attacking New York. I for once would like to see them switched.

      • But earthquakes on the east coast are pretty sparse, aren’t they?

And aliens def HATE the beach!

        • davefragments

          yes.

        • Yes they are, BUT! It’s become just so obvious. Calif. = falling into the sea and NY = Aliens/Supers. Blah.

          • davefragments

And this 4th of July more aliens will come back and try to conquer earth.

            I’m bored

          • No way?

          • davefragments

The sequel will arrive and the aliens are bigger and badder than before. It already has a trailer.

It looks delightful — he said sarcastically

          • davefragments

Oh yes. It is always fun.

          • Yup. Blarg!

          • Tyler Griffin

Well, we could always have Godzilla torch Tokyo, you know, to break up the monotony.

          • davefragments

The last GODZILLA was a fart in a spacesuit.

          • Tyler Griffin

Godzilla can at least go home and sleep soundly at night knowing that he is a celebration of bad movie making, rather than a genuine failure at being a good action movie

          • davefragments

The Japanese made an art of bad Godzilla movies.
            But they were always fun…

          • Tyler Griffin

I remember in the late 90’s the revitalization of that franchise with a Hollywood production that included the rubber suit mixed with early cgi, and going to see it with my church’s youth group and listening to all the adults gripe about getting ripped off when you could still see the strings, and me just being like, “Ya’ll just don’t GET it. That is what a good Godzilla movie is ABOUT.”

          • davefragments

I grew up when there were kiddie matinees with lots of goobers and popcorn and cartoons with extreme cartoony violence (usually the coyote lost to the road runner) …
I mean, not only does one know what balcony popcorn is but they don’t ever understand the concept of a balcony.

          • Yeah, and how about aliens in Africa and earthquakes in Island, well not in the US anyway…

          • Exactly. These things need to be switched up. Lets do something different movie wise.

        • Tyler Griffin

Hey, give us a few more years of fracking and you can have your earthquake ANYWHERE you want it. 😀

      • Tyler Griffin

How about an atmospheric nuclear EMP above Seattle to plunge the NW US into 3rd world country status, which coincidentally allows a small group of genetically engineered super soldiers to escape the corporate training compound that was breeding them and take up lives amongst the refugees while plotting to set the rest of their brethren free as well?

        • davefragments

I think the Simpson’s did it.

        • That could work. Is it already a movie?

          • Tyler Griffin

Older Television series called Dark Angel with Jessica Alba. It was decent, if under supported by the network

          • Yeah, I think I remember her sitting on that tower with her code-tattoo on the neck?

          • Tyler Griffin

            That’d be it.

      • Saxon_Brenton

I’m old enough to remember the continual repeats of The Goodies TV show (British comedy group who were contemporaries of Monty Python) shown here in Australia. So I say: giant kittens rampaging through London! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitten_Kong

    • Tyler Griffin

to be fair, it did take a few hours for the tsunami to arrive, did it not? Maybe they are all just afraid trump might win the election and can’t face the thought?? 😀

Is it okay to be super excited over a tattoo sketch you haven’t even seen yet? I’m so excited! I really feel like we are on the same wavelength! Thankfully, the new artist I saw is one I know really well because I often asked her questions when I wasn’t sure about something with my tattoos at the other shop so I’m pretty pumped!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand…it’s superhero themed! So, it’s so YP related!

    • syllibub

That’s exciting! Tattoos are such an investment, so I’m glad you feel like you and your artist are on the same page.

      • Kate G

I’m really excited and nervous at the same time because this is like the end of a chapter of healing. I’ve been working so hard to let go of all the grief and crap and this is like the biggest one. I really need something to memorialize all the dogs in my life so I’ll probably cry really hard after I get it.

  • Anyone seen the new Prius commercials?

    • Tyler Griffin

      meh

    • Kate G

The one with the bank robbers?

      • That one and the one where the “regular” police cars cannot catch the escaping prius and then the police have their own prius secret weapon….

        • Kate G

I haven’t seen the second one but the bank robbers one left me with an “eh” thing.

I happen to love the Subaru dog commercials more.

      Yeah. Silly and memorable.
