  • Paul est très très sexy!

    • YOU GOT IT 😀

      • I just did like you do, and sorta fell into my keyboard and BAM! There it was. The D-Wolf method works! 🙂

    • Congrats! I was distracted by the Pavlovian boner!

      • I already knew i wouldn’t get this one. I was stalking the shower scene 😉

        • All that…soap. A fine way to miss the virgin!

          • stickfigurefairytales

For a little while I was hoping I could sneak in while I had everyone distracted, but I ended up getting to caught up in the writing!

          • Yeah for SHOWER PORN!

          • Elrohir

Well…Spooky WAS hoping that the Commander might be in the mood for some shower porn in the interlude sequence. And I have to say, Spooky is extremely comfortable with himself. I mean, his reaction to being the focal point of the porn and poking at his porn character about “protesting too much that he doesn’t like it”. Makes me wonder if the lad might not be “pan-sexual”? Or at least up for a “let’s get the whole gang in the shower, as long as the Commander comes along”
Or am I the only one who finds that image hot? 😉

          • Cydney Sabin

Pretty sure you’re not the only one. Just saying.

          • Steven K.

Unfortunately, I have to profess to being in the “No girls allowed” camp. They have it sooooo easy in getting boys. Give us gay boys a chance. Letting a woman in would just make it more difficult and too distracting for some of the boys who might otherwise be on the edge of giving in to some “exploration” to take the plunge.

          • …….No we don’t Steven. We don’t have it easy at all.

          • Steven K.

Well, at least y’all have 9 times more potential candidates, and no social, religious, or other stigma attached to hitting on or making a move on a guy – or even professing your affection for a guy or asking one out – and certainly you don’t have to worry about getting assaulted, attacked or killed for doing so. I guess that was what I may have been getting at.

          • SofiaT

            “Slut”, “whore”, “easy”, “man eater”.
            No stigma?

And as for not getting attacked or assaulted for it… “Hey man, the bitch was asking for it”.

          • Steven K.

I didn’t mean to suggest there there is no such thing as misogyny or sexism or violence against women, or domestic violence in general, still existing in our society. But that, as a general state of things (if one is not talking to a complete psycho), a female would generally not be in much risk of physical violence for asking a guy out or for declaring that she had feelings – physical or emotional – affections – for a guy that she liked. There might not be absolutely no risk, but that is still, I think, something which is morally acceptable in our society, I think the risk of violence to a guy saying something similar to another guy when his orientation is not known would still be much higher, and it is not nearly as socially acceptable for this to happen. I’m sure most guys love it when a woman tells them that they are attractive. Most guys, on the other hand, aren’t so thrilled if another guy tells them that, and many are, even today, downright hostile. I didn’t mean to sound dismissive of the fact that women still face discrimination and abuse. Though, on the other hand, I think such discrimination and abuse is also LESS acceptable to society as a whole than is such abuse or violence toward gay people. For a lot of people, such violence toward gays is not only socially acceptable, for many it is even “god-sanctioned”. They think god destroyed a couple whole cities because of homosexuality (which is quite debatable, I know), so god certainly wouldn’t mind the bashing or killing of a few fags here and there – especially of one that might be “assaulting” them by telling them that they are the subject of a gay man’s attraction or affection.

          • If one thinks about it really hard…

The problems may all be different, but I don’t think anyone, anywhere, in any classification, would claim that affairs of the heart or body are ever easy.

And… if anyone has cracked the code to make them easy? They better share! 😐

          • Elrohir

I agree with you there, never easy; but frequently worthwhile. I’ve always thought it sad that given how precious the human connection is and most especially love itself, that people deny it to anyone else based on who has which bits or who’s “Tab A” inserts into who’s “Slot B”. The range or spectrum of human interaction is so broad and so wondrously capable of such heights and yet people insist on bounding it or binding it with chains of definition that the heart neither sees or cares about.

I’m an unapologetic hugger myself (though in my defense I’m told I give really excellent hugs) and yet so many people have trouble with even that level of intimacy. Study after study proves that humans crave touch and the comfort of contact. And yet portions of our culture (at least here in the US) drive kids into isolationist behavior for fear of what somebody will say, or how it will be seen. And then you get the posturing that is especially, in my opinion, damaging to adolescent males. The attached link talks about some of what I mean:

So, nope, I haven’t cracked the code. If there was an instruction manual that came with the original packaging I apparently did the typical engineer thing and set it aside and began assembling things by intuition. But I can wish for all of you that you find love, comfort and trust in your world. And maybe, just maybe, that person who completes your soul and who’s presence leaves you just as breathless and filled with wonder as the best wild incredible sex. 🙂

          • Elrohir

Actually, there is a whole range of interaction between the guys that SOME guys would only find acceptable because a woman or women were present in the group. A kind of, “it’s still okay, there were women present” or, “the girls said they would if we did” kind of thing. Umm…I’ve heard…or read…I mean…how would I know? Okay…clearly nobody is going for the “pure as the driven snow, butter wouldn’t melt” bit. So, yes, I’ve known that to be the case, and since it happens to fit one range of my own personal tastes I’d have to say it would be way hot! 🙂

          • stickfigurefairytales

            I’d be up for that.

    • silibub

      Gah! Just missed, again.

    • Wooooo

    • Sapfo

Here I’m sitting on the train, waiting, longing, hoping for one more virgin. But the internet don’t like me here. So i let you have it 😉
      Virgin snatcher indeed! XD

      • Had a feeling you were on the train.

        • Sapfo

I soon be at my job, also known as the non commenting zone D:
But i did get to see the new page before radio silence 😉

          • stickfigurefairytales

And you definitely wouldn’t want to read the commentfic I wrote on the last page while at work.

          • Lies… you definitely would!

          • stickfigurefairytales

I suppose it would depend on your individual workplace culture.

          • YAY!

      • I am honored to be in your club if only in this small way. 😀

        • I’ve got a bad feeling about this. I think we may need to keep a closer eye on you, Mr. Dangerfield.

          *snort* Just “honored” my foot.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Congratulations, Chris!

  • silibub

  • Still no Mitch 🙁

    • stickfigurefairytales

I hope he’s in the next page! *fingers crossed*

    Damn, get it Kyle!!!

  • Plans are brewing 😉

  • Madock345

I think Paul would love to bet Spooky’s ass.

  • silibub

I like how Kyle and Paul are like out for blood and Spooky’s just chill as usual. “Cool, guess we’ll assemble the team and roll out, kick a little ass…I mean, if you feel like it, man — did you want to keep this on the DL? No? Sweet.”

  • Oki.. hands down. Angry, determined Kyle is making me hot! /fans self

And with the look of that I have to hury and leave now. Later, all.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Bye Danish! Good luck!

  • Paul and Spooky look down right diabolical.

  • Holly

His biggest Mistake was letting me live! AWESOME! I cant wait for Saturday!

  • CH

Hell hath no fury like demon spawn scorned?
(::ducks:: someone had to say it!)

  • Mary Klemzak

The last panel makes me want to chear and wave banners and fireworks!

    Go team Pitchfork!

  • *Snort* Yes, yes, pizza is first on the agenda. Pizza is always first on the agenda.

    • Of course! What else?

      • SofiaT

        Spanakopita? 🙂

        • Oh please. Soooooooo good!

        • Steven K.

Well, if you are going to suggest that, there needs to be some Baklava to finish things out with.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Silly hats!

      • Apple Fritters?

        • stickfigurefairytales

        • Well…. yeah that goes without saying… too.

          • Steven K.

Well, if they were of drinking age, I might suggest a shot of Jaegermeister all ’round.

          • I have this image of them all sober, sitting around a table starring at a drunk Commander…

      • Green peppers don’t work on pizza very well.

  • Kyle is not broken down, not shattered, not curled up on the floor crying about his predicament.

Kyle is tough, determined, focused…Stand aside, people, because Little Hero is going to go kick some Platinum- Annihilator ASSS. Those two are going to be sorry they even thought about touching a strand on his awesome red head!!!!

    • Steven K.

Ditto! (Though I’m sure he did a fair bit of that after he was abandoned like that, as we could see, and as he was trying to explain things.)

  • You know just a thought….now that all the talking is done, Spooky seems to cover a lot of distance in a short amount of time. To get back outside. Now is that a rush to get things started, or a rush to check on Mitch and to make sure he hasn’t flown off in an angry huff to take on Anni himself?

    • Doki… see Spooky is aware of your concern and he’s hustling the boys out to the car so you can check on your Mitch… don’t worry… he’s probably okay. I mean probably not kidnapped by Sircea or eaten by a T-Rex or anything. Probably.

Hang on little camper. We’re almost outside!

      • What I am concerned about is that Mitch most likely eavesdropped and then couldn’t contain his anger and set out immediately without waiting for the group. Not that I think that happened, but from what I vaguely remember about being a teenager, at least partially likely.

  • Saxon_Brenton

Well Kyle, the fans have been saying that Annihilator made a mistake in letting you live since late November last year – but if you think he’s somehow missed this rather salient tactical point during his rather woobie monologue, then by all means go and explain with extreme prejudice.

  • Steven K.

    Four Musketeers you mean, right?

    • Sapfo

No it’s the thee musketeers and D’ar… I mean Mitch 🙂

      • Steven K.

Well, of course I know that there are only 3 in the title of that volume of Dumas literature, but yeah – I was adding/appending Mitch onto that – maybe kind of like D’Artagnan – who the others trained as a musketeer as well.

  • Sticky is continuing with her shower scene! Hot sex going on now!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      I’m blushing – thanks!

      • I’ll be back in the shower in one minute… LOL!

        • stickfigurefairytales

(Psst! Did you get a chance to read the end?)

  • Summer

(so yeah, I like this page. I like this page LOTS)

  • silibub

I can’t hope to churn out a Chris D-level page analysis here, but Kyle’s wording in the last panel interests me. He starts out saying he wants to stop both of them, which is typical “fight the villains and defend the world” fare, but I think that last sentence indicates his real focus — he narrows it to him and Duncan. There’s obviously a huge personal element to this crisis, and while I don’t doubt that Kyle has altruistic motives, I bet right now he’s fueled by a pretty specific goal: make him pay. I wonder if that will prove instrumental somehow to his (assumed) success — so far Kyle has always helped others while disregarding his own happiness, but now he’s doing something for himself. Taking back his dignity, proving that he won’t just roll over and accept defeat, and saving the world in the process. However standardly heroic it looks on the surface, I think this is something different for Kyle.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Hmm, I think that I disagree. I read Kyle’s line as more of a “You should have killed me, because as long as I’m alive I’ll make sure I stop you” kind of way, but I can see how you get your read on it.

      • silibub

I see what you mean. It’s just hard for me to imagine, given how personally responsible Kyle feels and the level of intimacy he had with Duncan just before being betrayed, that getting back at Duncan by thwarting his plans isn’t part of Kyle’s motivation. Duncan outsmarted him the first time, and now Kyle wants to defeat him and he wants Duncan to know that he lost because he underestimated Kyle. That feels more personal and revenge-y to me. I think if it was just a matter of “I won’t rest until I’ve stopped you,” he would have left it at that?

I guess the “letting me live” line mainly struck me as unusual because Duncan never actually threatened to kill Kyle, or indicated that he had planned to but decided to let him live after all.

        • stickfigurefairytales

I see that. That does make sense as well.

          • SofiaT

I see a bit of everything in Kyle’s statement -both yours and silibub’s way of thinking.

Honestly, I don’t know if even Kyle knows his true motives at the moment, I’d imagine it’s a tangle of things.

          • stickfigurefairytales

          • Absolutely x 10! (and a shower scene)

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Hee hee! 😀

          • silibub

I really love that the writing allows for these different interpretations. I’m always impressed with the story, but sometimes it just really hits me how good this is!

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Me too! Yay!!

          • That was actually 18 upvotes.

          • Elrohir

I just have to restate that I love the way you guys bring up so many variations/interpretations in your discussion. Some I had thought of, some I didn’t think about enough and some that just never occurred to me.
I will admit that I read Kyle’s statement as more of my own adopted variant of the Nietzsche standard:
“That which does not kill me better be able to run damn fast!”
I do suspect that Kyle thought he was going to die. I mean, why wouldn’t he? Transported to Hell, or a Hell. Bound and used by somebody he trusted (never mind the 20/20 hindsight that Paul makes crystal clear…”yeah…like THAT was going to end well…”) how would he have not expected that the opening of the gate might require his life force to do so?
Chris brings up the idea that Duncan couldn’t bring himself to kill Kyle. And perhaps he is right. Perhaps that simple human connection becomes the key in the eventual failure of Duncan’s plan. But one of the nasty suspicious voices in my head is also wondering/whispering, “since Kyle’s life force was used to open the gate, perhaps his life force is also needed to establish the anchor?” As the son of Laampros, he is, in some part perhaps, an expression of Laampros’ power in this plane?
Clearly going to have to think about this some more.
And for Heaven’s sake Alex! Spooky is right at the door to the landing pad. Where in the name of all that’s blessed is Mitch?!?!?! I mean really? How is he not hovering right there? What diabolical Wizard’s plan do you have waiting?
Wait…that sounded like what my UK friends would refer to as “whinging”…what I meant to suggest Wizard Woolfson, sir, is that aren’t we risking some sort of cosmic event by leaving young Mitch outside in such a fevered pitch of wanting to help his best friend that he’s in serious danger of vibrating across several ethereal planes?
Another marvelous page by team TYP. thank you so, so much!

          • Elrohir,

Thanks for adding on. I’ll just say that everything I wrote here about my belief that a VERY ignorant Kyle expected to die is true (for me). It took me a while to accept that Duncan was changed by this journey and forced by emotion to spare him.

Kyle knew less than we did about this whole surprise jaunt to hell… and we, as readers, knew nothing. We’re just older, more suspicious and meaner than Kyle is (yes, I speak for myself, LOL).

I have to admit that it took me a couple of months of pretty vitriolic “whinging” on these pages to accept the idea (which I do embrace now) that Duncan did leave changed and conflicted. Today, I do believe he is years and years too old and experienced to leave a threat behind him.

So I DO believe part of his plan was to “end” Kyle when he was finished. And then he met this internal emotional conflict he couldn’t deny, so he rambled to delay a departure and then left suddenly knowing he was NOT doing the practical thing (in not killing his patsy).

I didn’t want to accept that for a couple of months. I was so mad at Duncan. You can’t know how hard and potentially bad “coming out” can be if you don’t live it. It’s just one of those things. There are definitely other life experiences that are similar, but that’s a tough one. And these scenes hit that angst right on the sexual conflict ignition switch. I came “this” close to bolting… I’m so glad I didn’t.

So, I wanted to frame Duncan (in my head) at first as a straight out “sociopath” (there are many definitions and variants along the spectrum). This is just a simple list for easy reading:

I wanted to, because I wanted a man capable of doing this horrible thing to Kyle to be unlovable, particularly by me. However, there are two huge gaps near the top of that list.

            Incapacity for Love.

Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims.

We debated this thoroughly months ago, but I wasn’t ready to admit he didn’t fit and that I liked Duncan too. We compared him to Clarice Maven. Very different kettle of fish as shared on the page.

Interesting in an m/m genre when the really significant scary villains seem to be female, but that’s another discussion for another day.

So, back to Duncan. Sexy bugger… I would have gone on that date (ahem… I’m old, so I would have told people, would have suspected a villain, would have laughed at the bedroom talk (but then compared to Kyle… I’m old and wicked).

But the bottom line is… Duncan IS likable and, when I got over my grump, I had to admit that he was capable of feelings for Kyle. Who couldn’t be? They are both incredibly appealing, in different ways. Duncan could not kill him. A very smart man did a very impractical thing, which may cause his downfall or failure, but which may also save his soul(?) Possibly very Darth, no? (sorry it was just there).

So the simple thing is that this acceptance of Duncan for me, as a human being capable of love and feelings, was dragged out of me kicking and screaming.

I did imagine him getting home:

            Duncan: Hi, I’m back.

Sircea: You got the deal? (Duncan holds up his arm for her exam). Okay that looks correct… why are you burnt?

Duncan: YOUR paralysis spell almost gave out and the rugrat burnt me–

Sircea: –That shouldn’t have been possible, but he’s dead now, so we’re fine… right? (long pause) Right? DUNCAN… DUNCAN GET BACK IN HERE!

            ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

            So I’m finally at a place where I can admit I “like” Duncan… slowly… but I’ve arrived.

I’m not at a place where I think any REASON he has in his backstory will ever let me EXCUSE his actions to a vulnerable Kyle. It’s too close to home for me. So, I can’t imagine anyone EXCUSING him. However with serious effort on his part, I can almost imagine someone FORGIVING him.

And what THAT means… I have no idea.

I’m anxious for Saturday… AND TODAY ISN’T IT! Darn. 😐

          • I love Duncan as a character, but for me he despite what he has done, doesn’t give me the villain feel. Duncan has been demoted to “bad guy” for me. Of course that demotion happened because of him wussing out while in the “hell” dimension. I am sorry, but showing that kind of weakness in front of your enemies? Uh uh. Big No-No. And yes I am referring to Laampros as an enemy of Anni/Duncan, because in spite of their deal, you really cannot call them allies. Lost a lot of respect for him as a villain right there.

Now Laampros on the other hand *sigh* he became my villain. How soon do we get to see him again?

          • SofiaT

            Chris, I’m proud of you.

I’m not saying this to be patronizing or make a point or whatever. I really am proud of you. 🙂

          • Thank you that’s a kind thing to say.

Really when you re-read (or re-watch) anything, with enough new information, you cannot help but interpret and re-interpret the sub-text of the scene. Not always as the author initially wrote it for him or herself, but for yourself…

As the reader it is “yours” now. There is a moment when you know you’re denying a character truth, one that is there on the screen, graphic-page or prose-page that is clearly speaking to you.

And sometimes it just takes that long to put the dynamic into words that satisfy you as representing what YOU now want to communicate, which may indeed be very different than what you felt the first read around.

It may seem trifling for some, but that last sentence of my post pretty much says it for me as of today. I can’t picture “excusing” Duncan for his acts against Kyle, but I can picture a possibility of Alex unrolling events in a fashion that some characters and readers might “forgive” him.

For example, I can imagine Alex getting them to a place where Kyle forgives Duncan (that doesn’t mean Duncan survives. I have no idea and that’s a separate issue). But I can also imagine a scenario where our Paul is in love with Kyle and never forgives Duncan no matter what happens.

Anyway, we shall see what we shall see, and it will be, knowing Alex, kick-ass.

(Ahem, I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I’d still like Team Pitchfork to get in a few really nice pointy pokes before any hugging happens… YES, I’m just that petty. *grins*)

          • SofiaT

In regards to the parenthesis: so what? So do I. 😀
I love Duncan, but a few well-placed pokes would be good for him (and us, the readers)

          • Elrohir

You sir, are a dangerous, dangerous man. Here it is almost 2 in the morning and you’ve got my head spinning with yet more alternatives when I SHOULD be sleeping. Not to mention the fact that you’ve got me going back and rethinking my initial emotional reaction to the developing “relationship” between Duncan and Kyle. And how I voted in Alex’s poll on the relationship back then. And you remind me of something I learned a long time ago, though I don’t remember precisely where, that goes something like: “Redemption has to be open to everyone, or what’s a Heaven for?”
But I’m still angry at Duncan damn it! That doesn’t mean that I don’t find your rationale compelling. I’m a long time believer in the “Old age and treachery will beat youth and skill every time.” adage and so I take your point that it would be a monumental gap in Duncan’s thinking to leave the threat alive behind him. And you did give me a grin with your scene description between Duncan and the Platinum Priestess. 🙂
However, that nasty suspicious voice in the back of my head is still wondering if he had to leave him alive because he’s necessary to the anchoring spell. But I’m not so head blind that I can’t concede that doesn’t mean that Duncan still doesn’t care very much for Kyle.
Maybe that’s the source of my anger at Duncan. That I was beginning to see him differently and even as a character who might be redeemed by his relationship with Kyle. And then the betrayal. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that the betrayers are at the lowest level of Dante’s Inferno.
I can’t argue your closing that perhaps Duncan can at some point be forgiven, though not excused. And I suspect that your analysis of Paul’s reaction/mindset is accurate. Or at least it would be for me. I am always more forgiving of injury to myself than of injury to my friends or family. Been known to go into Avenging Angel mode more than once. Not pretty that…Avenging Angels tend to see only black and white and forget the gray areas.
So, while I won’t take back my dangerous man comment 🙂 I find myself in the position of saying thank you. Thank you for rattling a mans rather dense skull and making him rethink and loosen up the filters. Thank you for reminding me how emotionally fragile Kyle must have been to have been betrayed in his first relationship after coming out. I won’t say that I’m ready to let go of all of my interpretations but you’ve certainly given me a bunch of alternatives to consider.
You’ve a rare gift for perspective and analysis. Thanks.

          • HA! Dense skull… please? I wasn’t joking about saying it took me a few months to get over my grump. And I’m entirely one with you about it being easier to forgive people’s trespasses of me as opposed to those against my friends and loved ones. I see that as similarly insane to my issue about being able to help others articulate and solve their problems much easier than it is to do that for myself. LOL.

I’ll admit you did rattle me with your idea that Kyle will be needed later to help open the door to Laampros’ dimension. It’s kind of an awful repeat of what just happened.

Now, not for one minute do I think Alex is done pulling switcheroos on us. Harder in TYP (I’d imagine) than in ARTIFICE. Here the super-hero tropes are much more ingrained in us reader/watchers, so we’re on the lookout. ARTIFICE’S masterful backstory-telling form is so much less well known that, while I didn’t think Deacon was going to kill Jeff, I really had no idea exactly how that was going to play out. So that was skillfully done.

I don’t know here either (sneaky Alex), but still the genre is one we’ve all read and seen much more of. So, I really thought through your idea of “there is still need for Kyle” in Duncan/Sircea’s plan.

I’m going to disagree (total hypothesizing on my part as I’ve been blazing wrong, as I’ve said, before). But, here is why:

            1) I just don’t feel like Alex is going to go for a repeat.

One, D&S will NEVER get Kyle’s complete loving trust again, as they did for this opening spell. Now, I can imagine a ‘kidnap Mitch to threaten Kyle for cooperation gambit’? Or any variant of that plot-line, which supposes all Sircea needs is Kyle’s consent to open the passage???

Then Kyle has that classic heroes’ conflict. SONOFTHEATOMICBISCUITHEAD and I debated for days about that, three month’s ago. The value (or not) of consent and the worth of one life vs. millions of lives. So, those are all possible things that are not repeats. That might be possible.

BUT, that supposes that Duncan DIDN’T leave Kyle alive due to emotional conflict, and did it as a future calculated part of his plan.

So to get back to my current theory that Duncan has conflicted feelings for an unexpectedly charming boy (who made him feel young again). I’m going to pull out Occam’s razor for us.

If they still needed Kyle, why LEAVE him at the warehouse? Why not conk him out and take him with. Alex was already pretty grim with naked Kyle huddled, abandoned, on that slab. Unconscious Kyle in a body-bag being taken back to D&S headquarters would have been even more grim.

So Duncan left a key puzzle piece (Kyle) of their plan free to go? Don’t buy it. He didn’t kill him. He simply departed in a suppressed emotional conflict and abandoned Kyle there. That seems the simplest hypothesis to me.

As I’m sure you know, Occam’s razor states that one should proceed to simpler theories until simplicity can be traded for greater explanatory power.

So, at the moment (for me) the simplest theory is that Duncan was deeply affected by the time he spent with an affectionate Kyle prior to Hell. He did his job… well about 99% of it, until it came to the last point (killing Kyle) and he just couldn’t do it and he’s now hoping this won’t come back to bite him.

I suspect it will. I don’t, however, for a minute imagine that Kyle’s moments of conflicted emotional angst are over. Alex loves moments like that too much. But, I’ve been practicing my super-hero webcomic emo-Aikido, and I shall be as flowing water and the future angsty emotion shall flow past me…

*chris does snazzy martial arts move to demonstrate*

            and only I shall remain…

*chris looks around to see if anyone is buying this load of hooky… suspects not*

So, that’s the why of today’s theory. Thanks for pondering with me. Feel free to blast away at it, if you or anyone has a better theory. I think if we nail the future plan correctly… we’ll all hear Alex say “DAMN!” really loudly echoing around the world. 🙂

          • Elrohir

I am SO liking this discussion. 🙂 But yes, I wasn’t joking about the skull density issue. Now I know that none here would give credence to such base calumny, but it may shock you to know that among those as are unfair minded the attribute stubborn has actually been whispered in my direction. Imagine!?!? Completely without basis mind you. Nope, nary a scrap of evidence remains…um…exists to prove the point.

Your series of arguments is compelling. And please believe that the questions I pose are not intended to simply be contrary. But rather queries from the maelstrom of voices inside my head. A portion of your Occam’s razor argument depends upon the precept that if Kyle is still needed, why didn’t Duncan bash him on the head and take him with. Fair enough question. But have you considered that Duncan just suffered two rather major reality checks.

            1. Kyle burns Duncan even though the spell holding him means “you shouldn’t even be able to move” Page 42

            2. Seconds later Laampros holds him like a child and proceeds to mark him with his sign using just his nails.

Considering that Duncan has spent decades being the strongest person he knows, as well as being impervious to harm I think either or both of those moments might have convinced him that releasing Kyle from the spell might be safest done from a continent or two away. After all, given that he just heard Laampros name Kyle his son, it follows that Kyle’s power is derivative of Laampros’, no? And I also find myself considering that Duncan’s stated motivation is that he can feel, or believes he can, his diminishment. He speaks of the unyielding cycle of days that will see his power wane and see “To know that some day, everything that you are, will be gone forever!” Page 47

Duncan has been brooding on this for ages. I say this because it has to have bothered him long enough for him to develop a strategy to trap/use Kyle to achieve this bargain. That kind of self doubt takes its toll. And then two proof points in rapid succession that he is not impervious to harm. I don’t think I would have released Kyle either. The image on the bottom of page 46 as he’s kneeling on the floor and cradling his arm as he inspects the damage. His world view is shaken.

Laampros tells Duncan “open the door” and Duncan speaks of “activating the sister key” on Page 40. And the shadows in my head whisper to me, “what if what they need is not consent, but merely a life force?” And I SO don’t want that to be true.

In fact, you have pretty much convinced me of your view/interpretation of the action. I think Duncan did fall prey to his own emotions and become involved. I think you are correct in that supposition that he could not force himself to harm Kyle further. Though heaven knows he hurt him enough that I want to see him roasted slowly for it. Still, I think you are correct.
Though I suspect that wasn’t the statement you were expecting after everything I just wrote. But, I’m afraid that’s just me. Even as I follow your logic to belief I will still be dragging my doubts out of the shadows to inspect them in the light and among my friends. For ignoring them only gives them strength. The image I hope for, for this story, regardless of which characters do or don’t survive the conflict, and I fear there will be a price, is the one that Sam describes:

That there’s some good in this world Mr. Frodo. and it’s worth fighting for!

So come good physician! Apply your logic and heal me of my doubts. For I have wandered far into the labyrinth that is the mind of the Wizard Woolfson TM and I no longer know which shadows are real.

          • This one is a simple answer (he says cautiously):

Elrohir: “what if what they need is not consent, but merely a life force?”

TYP makes rather a big deal out of “consent” in it’s magical rules of construct. Here are just two examples:

The page where Sircea says (as Silibub noted) one of the best lines EVER: “Young man, may I have your permission to put you in some nice clothes or do we have to talk about it for the next twenty minutes?”

Total genius if Kyle had known, he could have narrowed his response to limit his consent. So, she rushed him in the perfect way, sneaky sorceress.

            The other is:

As Duncan tells a paralyzed Kyle the spell required his total trust. So not just his verbal consent, which he gave in bed, but the full emotional payload of loving trust, which our young innocent Paladin gives.

And of course, just last Wednesday, Spooky has confirmed that bringing a King of Hell across is not a small endeavor, so they’ll need even more things in “alignment.” So I’m hanging on to those lines as the ones saying that at minimum “consent” is definitely required.

So Kyle NOT killed, nor abducted, Duncan seems to have done it out of emotional confusion and it seems Kyle’s “trust” can’t be bought anymore.

Duncan has his “deal” with Laampros, so unless there is a twist of fate I’m unaware of (Allllexxxx!), I’m sticking with the Duncan had an emo-wobbly for Kyle-hot. and now Kyle can’t be just used like a battery.

THOSE are my guesses and I’m sticking with ’em! HA. Til Saturday at least. 🙂

          • Elrohir

**In the light of early morning Elrohir finds himself holding Chris’ latest arguments in his hands and turning them to examine them from all angles…and with a small smile, finds them sound.**
Done and done good Sir! You have me convinced. Kyle’s consent will not be easily had, though your earlier reference to a scenario of Mitch abducted to achieve Kyle’s consent gave me a twinge. But then again, “no light exists but that it casts shadows somewhere.”
Now I too can spend the next hours pondering possibilities while we await Saturday…umm…hang on…**checks itinerary to find his night flight this evening crosses the date line…so Saturday disappears altogether and it will be Sunday when he lands…small tears begin to well up and in the quavering voice that a 4 year old might use**
Umm…Wizard Woolfson, sir? I don’t suppose you could call upon your magic to bend space and time and make it Saturday now? I would only be just the once…umm…probably…and I’m pretty sure that it won’t break anything or spawn too many alternate timelines…so please?
**looking at Alex with big, sad, puppy dog eyes**

          • You’re very welcome, Elrohir! Thank you very much for your thoughtful analysis and your fun variation on Nietzsche’s quote. 🙂

          • Elrohir

The Nietzsche variant has been with me since college along with its corollary “I didn’t throw the first rock, but I WILL throw the last one!”
I meant to mention Alex, I sent one of your new card sets to a good friend and they went down a treat. His favorite was on of the Artifice ones. His response was “I’ve always had a fantasy of making out with a hot guy while piloting a star fighter.”
Thought you might like to know.

          • Send him to this site: At one point they do actually “have fun” in the cockpit of their fighter. ^_^

          • @disqus_E1BJEAP7bC:disqus , tell your friend to start at the link below if he just wants to get straight in the cockpit. (oh yes… all puns intended). 🙂

          • …..I would really like to seem them next time in Abel’s seat ^_^

          • Elrohir

agreed, the reversed role in the last sequence was hot! 🙂 Umm…hypothetically…

          • OH yes, very hot. ^_^ Very hot. … excuse me while I go “re-read” that scene. ^_^

          • Elrohir

Thank you Doki and Chris. I read Starfighter myself (actually started off of a link/mention that Alex made long ago) but I hadn’t thought to point him at it. Always nice to have folks willing to play auxiliary memory bank and provide me with more cool stuff. You guys are the best.

          • Yay! That’s awesome! Thank you for letting me know the card was well-received! 🙂

        • I read that so different. I think Kyle was waiting to be killed throughout that whole journey… he was surprised not to be.

I think he thought it was because Duncan didn’t think his 18 year old ass was worth the trouble… he’s very young.

I do think Duncan would have killed him without the tangled of emotion. That Kyle can’t see that all clearly yet? He’s 18.

          • silibub

That’s really true, and it occurred to me as I was posting that we weren’t really in Kyle’s head throughout the whole hell-dimension scene, and it’s very likely that Kyle thought he was going to die the whole time. He wouldn’t have had the perspective that we did as we read — and he definitely wouldn’t have had the time or calmness to process Duncan’s conflicted and guilty state and what that meant for his personal safety.

I’m actually not sure how it would have gone down if Duncan hadn’t come to care about Kyle. It’s almost pointless to speculate, since the whole point of their relationship — or whatever — is that Duncan unexpectedly developed feelings for this kid who was supposed to be a pawn. But if he was aware that Kyle is Laampros’s son, I really doubt he would have risked killing him — I doubt a hell king would take the murder of his heir in stride, you know?

          • You are so right in this series of comments. Duncan gave us all so little information and some of the foolish (like me) wanted to believe in a last minute redemption for love (silly romantic self)… so I was with Kyle… expecting to die. Or at least thinking HE was expecting it.

So I read “his take” as one of being dismissed as beneath Duncan’s notice. Not worthy of being killed. That complex and that heart-breaking.

So if he’s a little hell bent for revenge right now, and is a little confused (he still doesn’t have all the info and – besides Sircea – I’m not sure who does?) So, I chalk it up to massive overload and 18 year old confusion.

And mostly wanting to feel like a MAN again.

Regarding being the son of a King of Hell? I have no idea if a King of Hell cares about anything, let alone a half-breed son? Maybe? Maybe not? On that one, I’m totally at sea.

            Great comments all. Thanks.

          • silibub

Thank you! This all makes me wonder how Kyle will feel when he does have time to process everything — Duncan’s words versus his actions, how he wound up feeling about Kyle in the end. I don’t even know how I feel about it, and I’m just reading it!

          • Steven K.

Yeah – I’m not sure we unequivocally know for sure how or what Duncan really does feel for Kyle. What he did to him was horrendous enough, but the manner in which he left him finally convinced me it was “not much”.

        • Steven K.

Well, I think it’s with a strong bit of both the senses the 2 of you mention that Kyle utters that line.

    • Funny, I agree with both of you (Silibub and Stick): What Duncan did was hugely imasculating to a VERY vulnerable gay man. YES Kyle did choose to go with Duncan. That wasn’t a mistake. He liked that man to his own sorrow. How could he not have a need to and focus to show Duncan that he is a MAN to be reckoned with. That is a HUGE gay thing. TO BE A MAN. People who are violated often site the feeling of powerlessness as the thing that causes them the most trouble. Read rape testimony. It’s what traumatizes victims long long after the act. POWER and the LACK OF IT. So yes Kyle has a focus.

So I agree… Sircea doesn’t yet exist to Kyle… yet. Not like Duncan does… but I’m SURE SHE WILL! In time. She may yet be worse.

I also agree with Stick… as a super-hero… he’s saying I’m not dead yet… and so you are seriously fucked! That’s classic super-hero kick ’em in the testicles talk.

      So I do see both.

      • silibub

I hadn’t considered that Kyle might feel emasculated — thanks for pointing that out. I didn’t realize how important “being a man” is to gay guys, not being one myself (and I haven’t noticed any particular pressure to “be a woman” as a queer lady, so double the ignorance!) Man, considering Kyle’s youth and inexperience, plus the fact that he was taken advantage of, plus the fact that he was immobilized the whole time and robbed of agency…we’re looking at a perfect storm of “I’LL SHOW YOU, ASSHOLE” in the making.

        • Perfectly expressed.

I’ve only heard “be a lady” as an issue from certain lesbian friends who lean to the “butch” and get it more from family than anyone… “Why can’t you wear dresses?”, “You’d look so nice if you just wore make-up.” Etc… etc…

It’s very painful, but in its own unique way. I’m not the one to perfectly explain it, but I think anyone who doesn’t fit easily into standard gender roles has a real challenge in finding their feet and self-confidence.

          • Sharon Kerr-Bullian

Gender issues, and stereotyped gender behavior expectations are very complicated, and it’s very cool to see folks explaining “the other side”, and acknowledging that it’s tough for everyone in its own way. Way to go Chris and silibub for explaining it from two sides of the issue, because I think it’s really valuable when everyone can get an insight into the issues the “other side” has to deal with 🙂

Once again, I have to say how awesome it is to be among such an amazing community of loving, tolerant, intelligent people. I love you guys, I really do.

  • Alex, Adam and Veronica… once again! You give us a page with the energy we need right now! I love it. Thank you.

P#1: Right away Spooky lays it out. It’s US dudes! Spooky is ready to kick ass like a “Mo” can! Lets go! (sorry couldn’t help it).

Love P#2: when he turns to Paul. Oh and you’ve known for pages that Paul is waiting for this moment. He’s got his BFF Kyle BACK and Spooky is taking it all for realz! P#3: Paul is so ready to fight. That face is ready to GO. Love it.

P#4 & 5: Spooky is NOT a fool. First things first… we get the WHOLE GANG on board. This is the moment we’ve been waiting for. What is more important to Kyle? His closet shame, his big mistake or kicking some butt and saving the world?

P#6: Kyle’s face is PERFECT!! He says it again, but now the way you really wanted him to say it. Sorrow over his lost dreams are temporarily gone. Sorrow over Duncan is gone (for now). This is our Kyle. The Kyle that Spooky and Paul have been working so hard to help back on his feet.

Kyle is ready to go and with the best line ever! “I want him to realize his biggest mistake was letting me live.”

Yep and… IMHO… Duncan knew it and couldn’t help it. Yep Duncan complexity yet to come, but for this moment right now?!? Kyle is 100% sure of what he wants.

Love it. Love it. Love it.

Thank you again A, A & V — this is a wonderful kick ass panel and the perfect counterpoint to some of the heavy intimate emoting panels we’ve just had. Again, both dramaturgically and visually, a great balanced set of contrasting pages. Many thanks to you all. And thank you for two pages a week. We know it can’t be easy for any of you, but boy oh boy is it great for us. So just thanks.

    All best,

    • Thank you for both your wonderful comments, analysis and support, Christopher. Again, it’s such a pleasure to ready your reactions here. 🙂

  • stickfigurefairytales

Now that I’ve finished my comment!porn, new page! Hooray!

  • SofiaT

Looks like the Big Question has been answered: Kyle is ready to do anything to stop The Annihilator’s cunning plan (it’s so cunning you can put a tail on it and call it a weasel), including letting everyone in the team know what happened.

Amanda’s and Tsunami’s reactions will be interesting, to say the least.

    • strangeangel24601

“So cunning you can put a tail on it and call it a weasel.” I have never heard that saying before. I like it. I think I shall use it from now on.

      • SofiaT

Blackadder. Skip the first (horrible) season and go straight to the second one. Pure gold. 🙂

        • strangeangel24601

Sounds about right. I watched some of it a while back, but it’s been about 15 years or so. I keep forgetting about Netflix and Youtube…

        • Feverfew_M

Aww, the first one has its moments too. It just totally pales in comparison to the second one. 😀

      • Kiri

It is time you need to see Black Adder!

    • stickfigurefairytales

Amanda: [answering phone] Do you even know what time it is — the world had better be *ending*, pal!

      • SofiaT

      • Both this & the weasel metaphor cracked me up. 😀

      • Amanda (cont’d): –”Okay fine then. (pause) Well then fly the damn car back here asap and wake me when you get here. (click) Humph… boys.”

*amanda puts her iPhone in it’s sparkly sequined Hello Kitty™ protective case on her night stand, then replaces her Hello Kitty™ sleep-mask, and pulls her Pink Princess Bed Comforter™ back over herself and tries to get back to sleep.*

Clearly the boys don’t need to know everything…

    • Cockweasel is going down!

Erm… yeah Commander and Tsunami. I’ll let Paul and Spooky ‘splain.

  • stickfigurefairytales

HELL YEAH getting the band back together!

  • stickfigurefairytales

I just…love these guys so much. Y’know? *sniff* I don’t know why I’m suddenly getting teary-eyed at this point – it’s just all the friendship and heroism and resolve and awesomeness. It gets me right in the feels.

  • bobbyjoeguy

Paul angry face: scary, and such language! Kyle angry face: sexiest we’ve ever seen it, imo. As much as I am looking forward to the action scenes we know must be coming up, I am much more interested in the reactions of Kyle’s other team members; not just to him coming out, but to the whole scenario. (It’s too bad Kyle can’t just hand them a copy of this comic to explain it all, it would probably be easier than having to repeat the story a million times.) 😉

    • stickfigurefairytales

With regard to your last remark, that now has me picturing Kyle drawing some stick figure comics to explain the events, and it’d just be really confusing because you wouldn’t be able to tell what anything was or what was going on.

      • purplefoxglove

Thank you for putting the image of Kyle drawing porn stick figure comics to explain the events in detail to his teammates in my head – I can almost HEAR Mitch asking: “Wait, was that a kiss with or without tongue?” and Spooky: “Really, Kyle, it’s important to know these details. We’re trying to put together a psychological profile here.”

      • Steven K.

I wonder if he’d be especially careful trying to get the size of a couple particular of the “sticks” of accurate proportions.

        • stickfigurefairytales

          • Stop snickering and get back and finish that shower porn!!!!! LOL.

          • Frater Gymnos

Shower porn? Did I miss a shower scene (frantically paging backwards…)?

          • stickfigurefairytales

I…may have ended up writing fanfic in the comments on the previous page while we were camping for this one.

          • stickfigurefairytales

I did finish it! Just go back and see.

      • Frater Gymnos

    • SofiaT

Talk about breaking the fourth wall!

    • Steven K.

That’s for sure – at least they then might understand how things could have happened and be more sympathetic to why Kyle might have made the decisions he did – knowing the “whole story” and all.

  • Kiri

It’s time to get the band back together!!! OMG I love that! All they need is sunglasses in the dark and it’s perfect!

    • And a slo-mo walk across the parking lot. With some awesome music playing…

      • bobbyjoeguy

“I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can, see the light that’s right before my eyes…” ~Corey Hart 1983

        • Whoa! Can you believe it? I heard that song for the first time in years at some clothing store last week.

    • stickfigurefairytales

They’re on a mission from God.

  • (Busy life, sorry for the silence)
I love the righteous indignation on those face. And Spooky. 😉

  • Great page, great commentfic porn, great night of camping.

And now I retire so I can get to work on time tomorrow.

    ‘Nite all!

    • Nite!

    • stickfigurefairytales

Goodnight! [Edit: And thank you again!]

  • stickfigurefairytales

All right, I’m off to bed as well. Goodnight, everybody!

    • silibub

*checks clock* Yikes, me too. Goodnight!

    • Night, Sticky!

  • And I… Good Night everyone. Thanks AA&V and everyone for a great night camping and a great page.

    Sleep well!

  • december

Aieeeeee, Kyle’s growing up before our very eyes!

  • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

So, what’s going on in panel 4? Are Paul and Kyle posing, or do they just have a crick in their backs?

    • TwilightDreamer

      rofl, now that you say that, it looks like someone just yelled out;
      “Quick, strike a pose!”

  • BabyBea42

aaahrg I fucking love this comic!!!

  • TwilightDreamer

Did anyone else end up squealing at the last panel, and think Kyle sounded really hot as he said that?….or was that just me? XD lol
Wahoo! The boys are all fired up! Let the action begin!

  • Spooky reminds me of a general sending the Cavalry charging with his hand raised that way in panel 4.

  • Love this page. 🙂

  • The page made such an impact. Wow

  • Jamie Dutton

OH HELL YEAH!! Looks like it’s time for Team Pitchfork to saddle up!
Love this page, Alex, Adam and Veronica! You can almost hear the can o’ whoop ass that is about to be opened.

  • vessto

It’s action time. :):) But it doesn’t exclude Pizza in any way of course. 😉

Last panel, brilliant and exactly what a real hero must say!

  • doze “i’m gonna crush yer ass” faces, paul and kyle !!

  • steelie

Their faces!!! Glorious!! Especially Spooky in panel 2. He is absolutely my favorite. This page makes me dance with joy. Ass kicking on its way and team pitchfork is sharpening tines in pure glee!!

  • Steel_Man

Yeah. I agree. That was his biggest mistake. Awesome art!

  • Amy

Well, they don’t necessarily have to tell everyone that he slept with the villain, right? xD

  • Cman65

We got us one VERY pissed off Red Head here !!!!!!!!!!

  • amanda

yep! he’s pissed lol. you show him how big a mistake it was to play with a devil boy’s heart!!!!!

  • Nate

And Kyle gets the heroic one-liner!

  • Pikinanou

OMG Fluke’s face in the third panel is really scary. If he was to look at me like that, I’d confess all the crimes I have and haven’t commited! Please, don’t beat me up! O__O

  • Elin Gregory

I hope Kyle gets what he needs to up his self esteem, Duncan grovelling at his feet might help, but surely it’s the big red horny thing that’s the big danger? Choices 🙂

    • Steven K.

“Big red horny thing” – are we talking about a part of Kyle’s anatomy or Laampros?

  • Katie Chambers

*looks at page, walks off, comes back with big tub of popcorn* This shall become good

  • SSF

Can we all stop to appreciate how bad ass Spooky looks? Every time we get a full view of his outfit I swoon. It takes a certain kind of man to rock jeans with that jacket, and a backwards baseball cap.

  • WarGoddess

Yay!!! They’re all ready to go kick some Annihilator/Platinum Priestess booty!!! I’m getting pumped myself!!! XD

  • Sapfo

If I saw these three young men out on the town late at night, with thouse facial expressions. Then I would run the other way. And I would not stop for a long, long time.

Where is our sweet young innocent hero? o.o

    • joncarllewis

I think poor FlyBoy has either frozen to death – or he’s been watching the whole time through a hidden portal. Of course, if that were the case, Alex would’ve had him discretely looking in where sharp reader eyes would notice him!

      • LimpBiskit

LOL And now people are scrolling back to recheck the pages for it.. “WHERE’S FLYBOY?”

      • SofiaT

Why a hidden portal? A window would do just fine 😉

        • Erm you mean that extremely cool down angle in panel#4 of the last page… that I completely loved and it never occurred to me could be Mitch’s POV…

          • It was my first thought. ^_^ 😛

          • Of course it was young lady, you’ve been obsessing about Mitch since they first left him outside… Hey he’s 15, it’s good that he has someone worrying about him.

I wonder if he can fly faster than Sircea’s magic tentacles….?

          • Hunny, Mitch has been on my mind since he saved the baby. He is simply too cute! I just haven’t been so obsessive until lately. ^_^

    • He’s cranky today……….

    • SAMK

I’m afraid that I would be totally frozen staring at those tight tight uniforms. Couldn’t run if I wanted to.

  • Anna Calloway

    Woohoo Ready for some action!!!

  • Ellen Harman

Kyle’s coming clean to the rest of the team. Go Kyle!

  • Team Pitchfork is indeed primed and ready to go with its three new members! No supervillain ass is safe.

  • Darkflame173

BAWHAWHAW Wednesday updates will continue foreverrrrrrrrrrrr! <3 (makes note to donate soon so this can happen)

  • Okay you so know that Spooky’s cool trench coat is slowly rippling open as the three of them stride slo-mo toward the exit door. Damn that cool coat. I WANTS it.

And one more aside: I’m (really) all for Kyle’s attitude in that last panel, but K. is really not thinking about Sircea yet, is he? I think our boy has a wakeup call coming. The fecal matter is just starting to hit the rotary bladed air circulation device… Just sayin’.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Fortunately we know that Spooky and Paul remembered about her. (Hey, did we ever find out which American continent is going to go to which supervillain in their evil plan?)

      • Erm, I think we made that division up. I think Australia is the only safe place…….

        • stickfigurefairytales
          • Well yeah but “American Continents” is so vague don’t you think? What about all those little attached bits like tiny Canada and South America?

I know the USA is the center of the universe, but honestly I would have thought Laampros would have George Google this stuff up… then all the lawyers are in hell anyway so…………..

          • stickfigurefairytales

I’m particularly concerned about the fate of everybody who lives in the Caribbean.

          • Kiri

Given that he says continents rather than countries… I think he does actually mean the CONTINENT of North America, and the CONTINENT of South America. So pesky bits like South America and Canada and the Carribean are included within the whole American Continents thing.

    • What a long way to word that phrase…..could you make it longer?

  • Excellent! Kick-ass time!

  • Fight!

lol…this is going to be awesome!

  • Amanda

Ok, listen you little punks, you hurt one taut delicious inch of Dat Ass, or make on single salty tear fall from George than we are going to have some serious problems, and Laampros may become the least of your worries. Rule 1: DO NOT FUCK with a 34 year old woman who enjoys her delicious views and has an unnatural attachment to a GFE!!!!

    • I think we’ve been TOLD! GEORGE FINNEGAN is off limits people! You can kick some Laapr-ass… but GFE is not to be touched! He is an innocent eyeball… ‘Kay?

Amanda? Clearly stated? I mean we can only ask so much with all this revenge testosterone running willy nilly about. 🙂

  • Marko

I think I have a suggestion EVERYONE will agree with *-*

What ever fight sequence may be approaching should be released in a bundle of pages… on the same day… because fights are really quick paced in comics (hardly any dialouge) …it’s a real buzz killer having to wait a few days to find out “who got shot when”… SOOOOO for the sake of continuity and good story telling YOU HAVE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN ALEX please, I’m begging you T-T

    • Howdy Marko 🙂

I can certainly understand the desire for having a bunch of pages posted at one time, especially during moments of high tension and action scenes, but with the level of art this comic demands and our extensive revision process, Adam and Vero are already close to their limits with our current two page a week updates. In order to do what you’re suggesting would mean pausing the comic for weeks, perhaps months to build up the necessary buffer of pages—which I’m not sure would be something that everyone would like (and could easily be “recreated” by those who do want that by simply taking a couple months off from the comic during the action scenes and then catching up with a bunch of pages all at once.)

Also, the truth is, while I’ll never take the amazingly generous donations for the bonus pages for granted, they do have a big impact on my ability to afford to make this comic, especially now that I’m taking more and more time off from the day job to work on this. While the main reason I can’t do what you’re suggesting has to do with the limits of what we’re actually able to produce in any given period of time, this would also be a factor about whether it would be sustainable for me to blow through a bunch of pages in a single update.

But I totally hear where you’re coming from and I agree that action scenes are not always the best fit for webcomics. Now of course there was a time when people were convinced that any continuous narrative (instead of, say, gag strips) would never work on the Web—and I think that’s clearly not true—so maybe there are some ways to make action scenes more palatable serialized a page at a time and I’ll be thinking about that when we’re making the art for those pages. But ultimately, this story was meant to be read all at once in printed form, so I’d be the last person to say that there aren’t going to be some moments that work better released as a webcomic than others. Hopefully, there will be enough additional pleasure in being part of the community here to help make waiting for page updates less of a “buzz kill” for you.

And FWIW, while Chapters 4 and 5 are indeed action heavy, most of Chapter 3 is fairly reflective, character stuff. So, there’s still a bit of time before there is hardly any dialogue on significant chunks of pages. 🙂

      • The thought of TYP being on hiatus for weeks or even months.. *shivers in horror*

I think it’s going to help on the fight scenes we get in the future that we so often get two pages a week. This will already be a help, and cudos to you, A &V for working so hard to consistenly giving us that when there’s a bonus page – and managing to do it along with making the KS material.
I wouldn’t blame you if you guys decide to take a week or two off one day, just to take a vacantion.. I mean, you even updated on x-mas and New Year. That’s dedication <3

      • Choreocrat

Maybe I missedthe clues earlier on, but it’s great to know that it’s planned out to 5 chapters! This Babylon 5 fan likes 5-story arcs. 😉

        • Heh. I hadn’t made the connection between the 5 chapters of this story and the 5-story arcs of B5, but I will admit that was my favorite part of the series, that the big plot moments were planned out ahead of time. An unfortunate rarity in serialized SF TV.

          • I thought you were dead!

            I was. I’m better now.

          • Choreocrat

I figured there might be people who have seen B5 here. Aside from my slight crush on Marcus (when I was younger) and then Garibaldi (older), G’Kar was definitel my favourite, and I was a hue fan of the planned great arc.

          • mmmmm Marcus……yeah ^_^ Garibaldi was also good.

Walter Koenig played an excellent villain-ish person. Every time he did something, I was like “But WHY Chekov? WHY?”

          • G’kar was one of my favorite characters. I got the signature of Bruce Boxleitner and Mira Furlan at DragonCon 2012. I also went to their panel and learned a bit. ^_^

          • Oh I so agree… I wait in dread for the horror of the shark-jumping and the sure knowledge that they are now wandering for the forty years in the network desert… and that is serialized TV of any sort.

      • Marko

Ok ok it totally makes sense *-* you are defenitely right… I’m actually a graphic designer (and a freelance illustrator) and I know what you mean by “level of art this comic demands” I hadn’t thought about that (I was desprate for more pages and I naively thought I could smart my way to some more hue hue hue >:3)
Btw the comic design is really well executed kudos tu Adam and Vero *-*

PD: It really says a lot that you took time to reason with my request so thoroughly… you’re awesome, thanks <3

  • Megan Staples

    YEAH! GO KYLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wayne Lunkwitz

Combine anger with fire…..going to be a hot time in the old town for Kyle tonight!

  • David Welbourn

Hard to believe that The Young Protectors are the only good guy supergroup on the planet that can help stop the subjugation of the world; hopefully Commander will send out a general S.O.S. regardless. I suspect they’ll need all the help they can get.

I’m also just bit concerned that Duncan seemed to suggest that his selfish desire for immortality dovetailed with preventing something worse than planetwide usurpation. If so, that means that not only do our young heroes need to stop the Annihilator, the Platinum Priestess, Laampros, and a dimension full o’ demons — but also some other menace that hasn’t even been named.

But yay for Kyle’s mastery of his inner demons (pun intended), and huzzah for team spirit.

(Unrelated question: Has Spooky ever ever worn a skintight supersuit, and if so, what did it look like and why did he get rid of it?)

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

If there is a real crisis it may not be as simple as just stopping Duncan and Sircea.
Edit: Spooky hasn’t been shown wearing a supersuit yet.

    • Spooky has never worn a skintight supersuit. What you see here has been his standard outfit for almost as long as he’s been helping people with his abilities.

      • Why not?

        • I bet Spooky’s all about the comfort. Plus he can hide the flying robot ninja pigs a lot easier that way. 😀

          • SofiaT

LOL. That reminds me: the other day, when my internet connection died, I had to re-configure the settings of my modem and I changed my network’s name.

Guess what it’s called now 😀

          • Flying Robot Ninja Pigs? Please please please? Cause that would be awesome!!

          • SofiaT

I skipped the “pigs”. But you got the rest of it right. 🙂

          • Still AWESOME!!

          • By the way, it wouldn’t be sporting for me to gloat that Team Pitchfork got Kyle (and Spooky and Paul), so I won’t.

            (But nyah nyah.)

          • SofiaT

We, the crew of The Redilator, lie in silence and wait.
            Our day will come.

            Mwa ha ha.

          • I hope you all have lifejackets.

          • SofiaT

We do! Have you not been paying attention?
            They’re monogrammed too.

          • It’s not a matter of paying attention. From the top deck of the SS Pitchfork*, mighty flagship of the massive Pitchfork Armada, it’s hard to spot the remnants of little floundering rubber boat that we just ran over. If we saw you, we might generously donate some duct tape.

*whose figurehead is a massive pitchfork jutting out from the ship.

          • SofiaT

Our rubber boat is super tech. Don’t dismiss it so easily.

…or, do. That way you’ll never see us coming. >:D

            Mwa ha ha (again).

          • I would say you’d never see us coming either, but we’re kind of conspicuous, what with the massive 12 ft shiny pitchfork, and all.

          • Aren’t they made out of Admantium or some substance that sinks like a stone?

          • SofiaT

            No silly, that’s our umbrella.

          • We’ve all been wanting to kick Duncan butt. Did you think we wouldn’t if/when we caught up to that charming villain?

          • Why kick a butt when you can impale it with a massive pitchfork and cause extreme agony and a slow death?

          • I think that’s where we differ.

Death to the one needing a lesson doesn’t really teach him a lesson, does it? But a thorough ass kicking…well there’s potential.

          • An impaled ass that lives… can then be impaled again another day.

            — Wise Saying #504: The Book of Dangerfield

          • Very *snicker* wise, Oh Wise Dangerfield Acolyte to the Divine Caffeination.

          • I am not in denial about Java-enian needs. 😛

          • And why you are in observance every morning and sometimes make the evening service. 😀

          • Do NOT blaspheme about the Holy Bean! 😉

          • Then you make the evening service each day as well?

Do you forget sir that I too am in the service of the Divine Caffeination?

          • Jamie Dutton

The Holy Bean is wonderful and all, but I prefer The Sisters of the Tranquil Leaves, Green branch. They’re more apt at handling crises, oh and they have lovely little cakes too! 🙂

          • The little cakes are divine indeed. Upon occasion the Sisters of the Tranquil Leaves visit of an evening. 🙂

          • Jamie Dutton

I especially enjoy when they bring the Earl along.

          • Yes, the Earl is quite lovely, though I’m more familiar with the Oolong. 🙂

          • The MANLY 0rder of The Holy Bean respects the sect of The Sisters of the Tranquil Leaves, Green branch… but… erm… java masculinity issues. You understand. Right? 😀

          • Yes, the requisite afternoon meal is an apple fritter.

          • Klaus

I don’t. I would only hurt my foot.

          • Even if you had special steel toed boots that wouldn’t dent and protect your foot?

      • Well it goes without saying that Spooky’s hiding “something” under that outfit. The things about super-suits is eventually you still have to take them off. HA.

    • Choreocrat

I would imagine that there are probably several other supergroups around the place, but at a distance, and without the assistance of superspeed. The Thing (for example) would be available to help, but since his supergroup is based in France, he’s not going to be much help with a mostly America-localised crisis, on the assumption that Anni and Sircea will attempt the ritual there in California somewhere.

  • Becky

Hooray, it’s time for the plucky band of misfits to save the world! 😉

  • Two cans, at the very least.

  • Twirls

Random question! It seems like in the comments people know a lot more about the characters(like how Mitch is 15 and stuff) than I do. Am I being dumb and missing a cast page or something? Heeelllpppp 🙁

    • SofiaT

      You’re definitely not dumb 🙂
Here is a “cheatsheet” with information about all the members of TYP team.
Maybe that will help you find some of the intel you feel you’ve been missing.

Also, we’ve been discussing these kids for quite some time now…. We tend to act “familiar” with them, as if they’re old pals of ours -and of course everyone gives their own interpretation of their characters too.
Unless it’s been WoG’d or it’s something stated/seen explicitly in the previous pages, a lot of what we talk about is just opinions, not facts. So keep your mind open and feel free to contribute to the discussion.

      Hope that helps? 🙂

      • Twirls

    • Sofia’s link is the best… I can never remember both the character’s real names and their ‘super’ names… so I tend to stick with one… if you want to mess with people you can call Spooky Jones… Jones and then YOU’LL be the know-it-all.

One more thing that might help, if it seems like everyone remembers everything (I know? So annoying). If you go to the top of this (or any ‘page’). You’ll see ‘Archives’ and ‘FAQ’. Archives will give you access to any back page and the link to it will be on the top (of course), so copying and pasting that link into a post is an easy way to refer people to a previous page, if you want to make a point in your comment about who said or did ‘what’ in the past.

‘FAQ’ has all kinds of stuff in it from links to HOW TO stuff, to GUIDELINES and DEFINITIONS. I kind of forget it’s there until someone reminds me, but there’s a lot of helpful stuff in it.

      Good luck.

  • alyssia

damn i kinda wanna see spooky or paul be like NOTICE ME SEMPPI!!!

  • Dakejev

You know, Kyle, I’m not sure it’s a good idea to make people regret leaving you alive, as next time they might not…

  • JM

Is it crazy that I still want them to get together? I just really love Duncan. I can’t not. I want him to do a lot of begging first, though.

    • I 100% agree there. Excited to see what’s being planned, but I hope we do get to see the Platinum Priestess irked at Duncan’s show of feelings (it seems weird that he DIDN’T kill Kyle before leaving).

    • David Welbourn

It’s not crazy. I think there’s still a credible chance that things might work out for them in the long run, but how exactly is the question. But Duncan will have to do something far more substantial than beg, in my humble opinion. Actions speak louder than words, or so they say.

I am, of course, open to the story going in a completely different direction. Like, at the very least, Kyle should acquire his very own power nullifier widget for his bedroom, so he can practice safer sex without requiring his partner (or bedsheets) be fireproof. Kyle shouldn’t feel trapped into thinking the Annihilator is the only possible partner he might ever have.

  • Ianpact

Is it possible to save a link that shows the most recent comic each time when visited?

    • Klaus

    • SofiaT

Sort of. If you save the Archives page, when you open it, you can go straight to the last page: 🙂

    • I save the current (latest page) number “22” in my bookmarks bar. It hardly takes up any space and it will take me to the last published page, then if there’s a new posting that I haven’t got to, it is easy to change i.e. “22” to “23” in your bookmarks bar and you always have easy access to the latest or next-to-last page. Hope that helps a little.

If you’re gone for more than a week then it’s either Sofia’s archives method or just hit the “last” button on the bottom of any page you left off on, (but skip pages??? *shudders in horror at the thought*).

      Good luck.

    • Ianpact

Okay. Thank you all for the answers and tips.

  • Sapfo

All work takes away Sapfos commenting time DX

Alex, can you send me some of the pizza?
I need the energy for commenting tomorrow.

  • Simba

The “Last” button keeps talking me to page 19… Is anyone else’s doing that or is it just my cruddy phone? =/

    • b3nc0

Nope, good ol’ page 22 here…

      • davefragments

try turning your phone or pad or tablet off for a half a minute and then back on.

    • Try refreshing a few times while being this page. Not sure how you clear your cache on a phone (ctrl + f5 on a computer). I’ve tried this earlier, it’s like the cache just won’t catch up to the new page for a while.

I had this issue back on the first pages of chapter 3 – clicking latest page kept showing me the last page of chapter 2. Every time I came here I had to look at the saddest page in the comic before being able to go to the actual last page. It was evil xD

      • Simba

        Ah! Perfect, thank you. 🙂

  • SofiaT

Is it camping time yet? 😀
I’m having a Star Wars marathon while I’m waiting and I realised -I don’t really like Luke.
    He’s a self-righteous little prick.

    • Terri Sutton

I’ve been camping for an hour. Just keeping quiet.
I would make a comment about Luke Skywalker, but to be honest I don’t care enough about Star Wars to form any other opinion than; “I prefer Star Trek”.

  • Jamie Dutton

Yay Camping! I brought Who dat hot crab dip and cheddar & apple sausage balls! 🙂

    • I think I will pass on this one Jamie love.

      • Jamie Dutton

I also have a lovely vintage from The Sisters of the Tranquil Leaves. Green tea with lemon and honey, since I’m getting over a bit of a cold.

        • Now that i will have. ^_^ Was it a bad one or just an annoying one?

          • Jamie Dutton

More annoying than anything. Mostly had a sore throat and an icky cough.
*pours Dokidoki a nice hot cup of green tea* Lemon and honey as well? Its a delicious wild flower honey that my tribe specializes in 😉

          • Not that big a fan of lemon, but sure. ^_^ Thank you.

          • Jamie Dutton

*adds a touch of lemon and a nice dab of honey to the tea and hands it over*
            So how are things going?

          • *takes cup and sips* Nice! Things are going alright, I have been a little head achey lately, but eh, that might be due to the weather. it cannot seem to make up it’s mind on whether or not it wants to cold or not.

    • Jamie Dutton

had to postpone the Superbowl party cause of the darned weather, so they wanted to move it to the Olympic opening ceremonies, lol.

  • SofiaT

Have you guys seen Canada’s reply to Russia’s ban of “gay propaganda”?

We had that discussion a while back about the power of words (“big ‘mo” as delivered by the great Mr. Jones) and how they can change meaning once you claim them as your own. I especially love how [SPOILER ALERT] the ad uses the “the games have always been a little gay” phrase, which -considering how the word “gay” has often been used in every day language to describe things- it could have been interpreted as “the games have always been a little lame“. But in this context it becomes “the games are supposed to be awesome, lets keep them awesome“.

    • Jamie Dutton

OMG, that was awesome! Thanks for sharing that with us! 🙂

    • Thank you. Just perfect.

    • Holly

*Epic CANADIAN stance* Yeah, we are just that cool. Third country to legalize same sex marriage. We are the best. This is why we will win many of the medals. ^_^

But all joking aside, CIDI is amazing and this ad is awesome.

  • Okay, I have a bit of a camping game. I know it’s still early, but I don’t think that matters for this.

Okay, the game is simple. What song do you see a Superhero/SciFi/Fantasy character singing in the shower?

It can be any Superhero/SciFi/Fantasy character and any song you think they might sing in the shower. If the character has already been stated, that’s okay, there can be repeats. (link optional)

    For example:

You Can Call Me Al – Paul Simon.‎

    Now go.

    • Terri Sutton

      Commander Shepard
Who Wants To Live Forever – Queen
      or perhaps
Don’t Fear The Reapers – Blue Oyster Cult.

      • Terri Sutton

I just remembered this but it was only a 2 or 3 days ago I read a fanfic of Shepard in the shower singing “Don’t Fear The Reaper”.
Also just realised my amusing typo.

    • SofiaT

      Tony Stark: “I’m too Sexy”

      • HA!

      • Terri Sutton

Question. Would he sing and dance better than the Right Said Fred guys?

        • SofiaT

He’s Tony Stark. He does everything better.

      • HA!

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

      Kyle (Red Hot)

Don’t Leave Me This Way – Thelma Houston

    • Any/All of them —–Singing?Humming?

      The Superman Theme

      • I know if I was a superhero, I wouldn’t be able to resist doing this at least once.

    • Jamie Dutton

      Miss Piggy
      “Only Girl In the World”

    • Jamie Dutton

Surprised no one went with the obvious for Spooky Jones:

      Who you gonna call?

    • Eight_Rule_Pig

Annihilator-Geto Boys “Damn It Feels Good to be a Gangsta”

    • Holly

Dr, Manhatten “I’m Blue” Eiffel 65

      • silibub

      • Eight_Rule_Pig

        Lampros- Minor Threat, Seein Red

    • Frodo
The chorus from single ladies (put a ring on it)

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Not Sauron?

        • I thought of that too. Basically much the LOTR cast could sing it.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Hee hee! Very true.

          • Duchess of Bones

And now I”m seeing the whole cast from LOTR doing the Glee version of “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”. Seriously. Legolas and Arogorn, shaking dem asses? Wooo.

THAT’s going to stick in my head for the rest of the weekend.

          • Nice!!

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Love it!

          • Duchess of Bones

Except that also means Gimli. I wonder who he can shake it…. And Gollum.

Ay-yiyi. Think of Aragorn! Think of Aragorn!

          • HA… ‘my precious’ just took a whole new meaning!

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Have you seen this already?:

          • Holly

          • HAHAHA!

          • silibub

            oh my god

          • Okay that’s flat out HiLARious! *snort*

    • Kyle’s new attitude and he’s taking the team with him!

Queen – We Are The Champions

      • Sapfo

I thought it might be “another one bites the dust”, but I dont really remember what that song was about.

      • Steven K.

That’s what bubbled up to my mind too.

    • silibub

It’s silly, but — Sircea: Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” (So you wanna play with magic? Boy you should know what you’re falling for…)

    • stickfigurefairytales

Kyle: Gloria Gaynor, “I Will Survive”

      • Holly

Kyle: Carrie Underwood “Songs Like This” 😛

  • Okay, George Takei just tweeted this image and just had to share. It made me giggle a lot. Considering the discussions we have had and I don’t think any one has shared this before.

I also vote that any time that phrase is used, this link/pic should accompany it. ^_^

    • That is sweet… now I wonder who was the first commenter to coin the phrase “Dat Ass”? Just for funz?

      • SofiaT

All we have to do is go back to that page and re-read all 2,000 comments of it. 😛

        Who volunteers?

        • *deafening silence continues*

          • silibub

Oh man, I would but uh…my Animal Crossing town needs me! Yeah!

          • Holly

I WANT NEW LEAF! *pouts* I don’t have a 3DS though. I suppose I could play the DS one, but it’s not as fun. And I kind of abandonned it months ago. Maybe I should just reboot it…

          • silibub

New Leaf is the first version I’ve played — I kind of want Wild World now for comparison!

    • Jamie Dutton

      OMG that’s sooo Takei!

  • Holly

Why do I always have the epic urge to just announce all my life drama to you all hear in the comments? Instead of talking about how bad ass Kyle is in the last panel, I just want to tell you about my week. XD

    • Terri Sutton

Perhaps it is the lack of judgement.

    • Its okay, Holly. So how was your week?

      • Holly

MY DAD TRICKED ME INTO THROWING AWAY MY LIFE PLAN!!!! Also I move in 6 weeks and haven’t even LOOKED at houses. I still have no job, though I had an interview today so maybe that will work out. So yeah….

        • silibub

I hope you get the job! Interviewing is such a nerve-wracking process, and to be house hunting on top of that sounds hectic.

          • Holly

Especially since my brother, who will be my roommate, is SO “don’t think too far ahead” that he doesn’t like planning farther than the quarter hour he is in. So it’s kind of impossible to get his imput on houses and stuff.

        • *hugs* Good luck with the job and house hunting love. ^_^ All the best of luck. ^_^

          • Holly

I feel like everyone is just avoiding the mine field that is my opening sentence…

          • No, only you can decide what you wish to share of your personal life on an open forum. That’s up to you. You are most welcome. True that.

          • silibub

Sounds like a long story, but if you’re willing to share I’m interested.

          • Holly

Okay so due to complex reasons that are complex I had to take a year off from university. Now I have been in school for a long time due to transfers and changing my major. So in September about right after my birthday my mom goes “YOU SHOULD GOT TO COMMUNITY COLLEGE.” To which I responded that it was September it was too late to apply for trade school. Her thoughts were that I should get a trade so I can make money, pay my debts, and then finish my BA later.

So then my dad and mom talked to me and I made a deal that if when I reapplied to school for the fall, if for some reason I wasn’t accepted, I would go to trade school. Anyway, I’m getting ready to apply and telling my dad I need about 50 dollars for the application, and he’s dragging his feet. Whatever. I do realized, however, that i need to think about my backup plan. So I research programs at the provincial community college. There are two programs I LOVE, but they are here in the capital. I had assumed my parents wanted me to go to the campus back home so they wouldn’t have to pay my rent here in the capital. So I ask, and my dad is like “No no hunny, whatever you want. If it’s in the city that’s fine.” I remind him that I’m going to try to get back to university first, but this is my back up plan.

This was at about midnight my time last Friday.

So my dad then spends the week kind of niggling on the university plan. Pointing out that I won’t get the application fee back if I don’t get accepted, even though it’s the same with community college. He makes some other points about stuff. Makes a point about funding to pay for school, etc. So this begins to make something turn in my brain and i realized “damn dad’s right. I should just apply for community college and finish university in the future. don’t even apply to go back now.” I consult some third parties and EVERYONE I ask sides with my parents about trade school. So I’m like, okay. And I call my dad and tell him that I will do as he has suggested and just go to community college, and finish university later.

Then almost as soon as I agree to that, I realize that in 5 days my dad got me to COMPLETELY overhaul my plans for the future to suit what he wanted for me. And while I agree with his logic etc, I feel a little manipulated.

PLUS, I have no idea WHICH of the two programs I want to study. I can apply for both on one application, but then I still need to pick. And it’s stressing me out.

And again, in five days my dad totally rearranged my life.

          • silibub

(Here, I’ll join you in dropping personal bombs!) I really feel you on the parental manipulation front. I had a terrible depressive episode both my senior year of undergrad and then again as a post-bach student — the second one was particularly bad since I was alone in a new city a thousand miles away from my family, and I wound up dropping out. After doing that, I told my parents that I really wanted to take a year to job hunt and just stay out of school for a while, because clearly it only compounds my issues. That lasted for maybe a month, then the next thing I knew my dad was pushing me to apply to a grad school program in-state — any program — saying that a master’s degree would help me in my job search and I “have the rest of my life to work.”

After a while it started to make sense! And I hadn’t had any luck looking for full-time employment, so the thought of having an advantage was really tempting. So…yeah, I’m in grad school now, and it’s, well. All right. But like you said, the feeling that I was kind of jerked around after I had so clearly expressed the desire to work for a while before going back to school is troubling. But if it’s any comfort, you’re still in a position to make the most out of what you’re doing, and it could turn out really well for you! I hope it does, and you know we’ll be rooting for you here.

          • stickfigurefairytales

And we’ll be rooting for you too, sili!

          • silibub

          • Holly

Wow yeah… that sucks as well.

I dunno, there are TWO programs I like. And i’m not sure 1) Which would be more likely to give me sustainable employment, 2) which I would enjoy more.

Part of me is like “Well other people have already decided everything else for me. Other people should just choose my program” which is silly.

I just have way too many decisions and thing to juggle right now.

Though if any of you have suggestions about the sustainability of the jobs I’d love to know.
            Course one is Library Technician
Course Two is Radio Performance and Studio Production

          • Librarican

I wasn’t camping last night, but I’m glad I was reading these posts. I don’t know if where you are at Library Technician is similar to Library Technician in the US where I am at, but I can speak as a librarian in the states (hence the name ^_^)

Library Technician sounds very similar to a 2-year degree (associates) will not be enough to get you hired as a librarian. Most libraries for full time librarians will require a masters degree. The Librarian Technician (depending on the coursework) might be an added bonus for getting hired as support staff, either working with the public as a “library assistant” or “paraprofessional” or behind he scenes in either circulation or processing materials. Depending on the library system, that may give you experience in the duties of a librarian. If you have a tech savvy background on top of the Library Technician degree, then you also might be able to work with the computer systems.

The only time I ever see librarians without the masters are in little libraries where they have maybe two staff people and even the director works part time, but I think you would be hard pressed to live financially stable off a job like that unless you had a significant other or partner contributing to your household income.

Feel free to ask me more questions if you would like, either here or does Discuss have a pm component?

          • Holly

No but if you are using Twitter for your disqus you can DM me.

          • Librarican

            Ummm… I don’t have a twitter account…

EDIT: Did that information help you at all? Did you have more questions?

          • stickfigurefairytales

I’m really sorry to hear that your dad (and others) gave you such a tough time.

          • Holly

it’s not like i was bullied into it. My parents are really nice and supportive and awesome. It just feels like I was directed a certain way and it bugs me.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Yeah, I can see how you’d feel that way. Just know that we’re here for you, though. *hugs*

          • Sneaky sneaky. Though at least your parents are active in your live. ^_^

(I have now reached 1303 comments on TYP ^_^)

          • Holly

OH yeah super supportive. Loving. Pay my rent and bills and stuff.

Actually, when i’m at home my mom packs my lunches for work. I’ll be asleep and she will wake me to ask what kind of cookies I want in my lunch box. And i”m like “Mum, it’s fine. I’m an adult I can make my own lunch.” And she will just decide to give me oreos and let me go back to sleep. It is the most annoying sweetest thing. ^_^

          • Yeah, I envy those with parents that have an active role in their kids life. My father left me (…..I mean us) when I was 5 years old and let me just say i would have prefered a mother that was more concerned about what I was doing when I was growing up instead of just being pretty much ignored.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            *hugs you*

          • *hugs stickfigure*

          • stickfigurefairytales

Hee hee – actual stick figures would be so hard to hug, wouldn’t they?

          • lol, well depends ^_^

          • Holly

            aww poor Doki *Hugs*

          • *hugs Holly* Its okay, I dealt with it….

          • Holly

            *EXTRA HUGS doki*

          • Ahhh harsh indeed. Hugs and may it only get better from here. It sure goes to show we all have our shite and no matter what we have others may have it worse. Hang in Doki!

          • Thanks Chris sweetie. The older I get, the more I realize just how much some things in my childhood messed me up, and how much I could probably benefit from professional help if I didn’t have such a phobia of therapists….and also had the money to afford therapy. Realizing the problem is only the start to fixing it, and there is only so much I can do on my own.

          • All I could think of was: Bad Daddy! Bad boy! Was it an accidental trick or purposeful trick?

          • Holly

He would call it “convincing”, but yeah. He did it on purpose.

        • Good luck with the job

        • Indeed. GOOD LUCK!

  • silibub

So I’m thinking we might be in for a scene change next page? Unless Mitch gets to have a supportive moment with Kyle, too. I would be happy with either!

  • Here are the pictures I took of today’s sunset. I zoomed in on two of them so that you could see that the sun is setting behind the tree that it was setting just to the left of in my previous set.

    • Jamie Dutton

      Wow, Doki! That’s beautiful!

      • Yeah, the past few nights there hasn’t really been much to see, too cloudy. Today there was finally a good day. ^_^

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Ooh, that is lovely!

  • *Sits down only half awake*
After listening to my snooze button for the .. 7th time, I managed to leave my bed xD I thought I was gonna sleep early and good before camping, but a neighbour who’s rarely home decided that this night was the time to be home and have noisy company until 3½ hours ago >.>

But now I’m here, waking up and looking forward to the page. Good thing I can go back to sleep afterwards today 🙂

    • Holly

NO! Now that DW is here I will never get the virgin!

      • Oh I don’t know about that.. I don’t feel particularly energetic and in a hunt mode right now, so getting the V would be coinsidence, and it was already proved last page that there’s way to distract me from any hunting *lol*

        • stickfigurefairytales shower scene (cont’d) :

“And then as the clouds of steam in the Young Protector’s white tiled shower continued to rise toward the vent in the ceiling… all the guys were there getting clean… Suddenly, Kyle DROPPED THE SOAP!

Everyone turned and watched, as if in slow motion, a slick and soapy Kyle bent slowly over to pick up the bar of soap. The team watched in reverent silence as the soapy water ran down the baby fine trail of red hair between his…”

ERM… Danish… you mean distract you like that?? XD

          • O_O .. yeesss~

Good thing I refreshed and got the new page before I clicked on this. It surely would have cost me my new virgin xD

      Good morning Danish!

    • Jamie Dutton

      Hi sapfo 🙂

    • Morning Sapfo love! Sleep well?

      • Sapfo

        Yes, I did. Thank you.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Hi Sapfo! (I almost wrote “Sapfro” instead.)

      • Sapfo

I have writen it so many diffrent ways, so I accept almost any spelling ^_^

    • Holly

YOU TOO?! Ugh…*feels the virgin slip away.* sigh.

    • Morning Sapfo!!

    • Hiya, hope it will work right for you this morning. Is your headache gone?

      • Sapfo

Headache okay, but I sleept the wrong way so now my neck hurts some xD

        • Hate it when that happens. 🙁

          • Sapfo

            So do I.

        • Aww, boo! Hope it will be over soon.

          • Sapfo

Paracetamol and Ibuprofen will help me 😀

        • stickfigurefairytales

          Aw, no fun! 🙁

  • Sapfo

A question, do any of you have guilty pleasure?
I have some, TYP is not one of them, I enjoy TYP without any guilt 🙂

    • Hmmmm I guess….I like a bunch of anime and manga that is more suitable for teenagers. My only excuse is that I fell in love with them a bit late in life and am trying to play catch up. ^_^

    • Terri Sutton

      Does reading smutty fanfics count?

      • Sapfo

Do you feel guilty when you do it?
When I was younger (16y) I felt guilty reading smutty fanfic, mostly for me not being of age. But then I turned 18, I didn´t feel guilty about it anymore. ^_^

        • mogoskier

Try reading it when you are right next to a nun, that guilt. The trill always override though.

        • Terri Sutton

I actually found that I feel slightly guilty now as opposed to when I was 14-15 when I started. I do feel really guilty when I think about what I use to read as it was RPS.

          • Sapfo

You remember the scene where Mitch (Flyboy) sneaked onto the compute in the middle of the night just to see the smut. That was me at 16 xD

      • silibub

*raises hand* Especially when it’s a long M- or E-rated fic with actual plot but I still skip right to the porn

      • *gasp* NEVER!

    • Holly

      • Sapfo

Yes, that would be a guilty pleasure XD

      • stickfigurefairytales

You’ve gotten me so hungry for crepes with Nutella and bananas.

        • omg.. i just thought the same thing, and my stomach is already making noises.

        • Holly

The only breakfast place the serves nutella crepes is HORRIBLY expensive. IT makes me sad.

          • stickfigurefairytales

    • mogoskier

Really girly sicken sweet shojo manga

    • Jamie Dutton

Um, I have to confess usually i feel no guilt over anything….but there is that whole Power Rangers thing >///<
I keep telling myself no don't watch and then… *sigh*

      • Sapfo

        sssh! fruits baskets

        • SHAMELESS!

          • Sapfo

I know. *Hang my head in shame* -_-

        • Fruits Basket is a great anime and an even more amazing manga.

      • I will admit to watching some PR. I might even admit to somewhat liking the movie with Ivan Ooze. ….I think It was Ivan Ooze…..

      • Jamie Dutton

I even started writing fanfic for it, but that was before I knew there were places to post it. Not sure I can remember where I put it.

      • stickfigurefairytales

My sister (who lives in Japan) got me into the most recent series they had there (it just finished up, actually) – Kyouryuuger.

    • Sapfo, my fearless one… I have a hard time imagining you having guilt over almost anything wholesome!

      • Jamie Dutton

        What about you, Chris?

      • Sapfo

I love a lot of things, but I do feel a bit strange when I was sitting next to small teenage kids watching Harry Potter. But I needed to see it.

Not to metion my fav guilty pleasure…. “keeping up appearances”. That one I can not even explain why I like. I even lied to my dad about it some days ago.

        • Jamie Dutton

Omg, I LOVE “Keeping Up Appearances”! She’s such a hoot!

          • Sapfo

            And Sheredon xD

          • Jamie Dutton

Crud i clicked the wrong dang arrow and it’s not letting me fix it 🙁

          • Sapfo

DId You down vote me XD XD XD LMAS

          • Jamie Dutton

I didn’t mean to! Did I fix it or is still downvoted? I can’t tell 🙁

          • Sapfo

I am not longer downvoted 😉

          • Jamie Dutton

Yay finally! Sorry about that though

    • I read a lot of Harlequin romances 🙂

      • Sapfo

        DANISH! Wow, guilty pleasure xD

      • Jamie Dutton

The really trashy got kidnapped by a sexy sheikh ones or i had an whirl wind romance with my ice-cold boss and had his secret baby kind?

        • When I was a teen, it was a LOT like that. Some still are theme-wise, but there’s often more steamy scenes now 😉 Sex isn’t a ‘bad thing’ anymore. Far from, depending on which series name they’re published under.
I have to say Harlequin have evolved quite in the last 18 years (how long I’ve read them). Where many are still cliche, the company + authors know that people don’t want to read the overly sappy. Helps that many of today’s Harlequin authors also write/publish long novels in various genres too.
The series I prefer now are Harlequin Historical. Most books there are actually pretty good and diverse.

          • Jamie Dutton

You can still find the ones I was talking about for at a dollar store. They’re fun to read when you want a little mindless fun.
I prefer paranormal themed ones with a sense of humor myself. Oh and anything written by Jayne Ann Krentz or one of her myriad pen names.

          • Jayne Ann Krentz is a good one. I also like Elizabeth Lowell, Catherine Coulter, Johanna Lindsey, Christine Feehan, Jude Devereaux, and a few others. (Please excuse any of misspelling of names.)

Just to let everyone know, I never felt guilty about reading romance novels, not even when I was in high school. I even have a story. ^_^

So I was reading this one one book and one of my band mates (fellow trombone player, kind of cute, and this is concert band) was curious about it. I offered to lend it to him, but he wasn’t interested in the story, just the sex scene aspect of it. So remembering vaguely where one was in the book I flipped to it and let him read it. He started blushing, it was fun to watch. ^_^ It just so happens that we have a substitute teacher that day (male and also a band parent) and he came over to our little group. He asked what I was reading, so I hand him the open book and watch as his whole face and neck and neck go beet red. ^_^ Which was even more fun to watch. ^_^ He just handed the book back to me and walked away. ^_^

          • LOL.. yeah, the sex scenes in romance novels aren’t skipped over in an easy levels as they often used to be. Some can be preeetty steamy. I read a lot of non-Harlequin romance and/or erotica too, along with other genres.
It’s just that the ‘Harlequin’ name makes a lot of people think trashy/sappy romance only, because that’s very much what it used to be. So I don’t spread it far and wide that I read a lot of them – and own all of the about 270 novels that has been published in the Danish Harlequin Historical books that has been published since that ‘series’ started about 11 yeas ago xD I get the two new books that are published every months sent to me via mail.

          • Jamie Dutton

Have you read any of the Harlequin Mangas? Those can be pretty good actually. It felt odd the first time I tried reading one, but I got used to it.

          • Jamie Dutton

Oh and you should look up the ones Jayne Ann Krentz wrote under the name Stephanie James. Those are SO good! They’ve been reprinted so they are easier to find.

          • I have read a couple of them online. Some of them are really good.

    • Curt Clark

Cartoons and TV shows I loved as a kid that are objectively cheesy and horrible now. He-Man and She-Ra, for example, or the first two seasons of Power Rangers, or the 80s Dungeons & Dragons cartoon, or the 90s X-Men cartoon (not terrible, but objectively not as good as everyone remembers). Also Rainbow Brite. I am going DIRECTLY to Flamer Camp for that one. >.>

I feel no guilt about enjoying GOOD cartoons, like Gargoyles, Young Justice, Gravity Falls, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Teen Titans, or anything from the DC Animated Universe in the 90s and 00s.

  • stickfigurefairytales

    Page is up!

  • Steven K.

Could someone post a link? Thanks!

  • Tesha

A tear came to my eye when I read the final frame of this page….so proud of our little dude xx
Kinda want to use that line in a break up lol

  • SugarPlumFairy
