    • silibub

      Nicely caught!

      • stickfigurefairytales

Thanks! I was just refreshing my tumblr dashboard when I saw Alex’s post. ^_^

        • You owe this one to me…. I believe I told you “good hunting”. So It was me wishing you luck that did it. I take all the credit for you getting it.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Way to go, Doki! 😉

  • stickfigurefairytales

    Wow, early one tonight.

  • stickfigurefairytales

  • …of course the night Doki is sick… ;____; MITCH!

    • stickfigurefairytales

At least she’ll have him waiting for her when she comes back.

    • D. Garrett

oh noooooo! she gotta get bak herre! but she is gonna squee when she does!

      • It was a much subdued squee. I was up all night, wide awake, trying to sleep, still haven’t really slept, maybe had a small nap earlier…

        • D. Garrett

sorry u havent been feeling well or sleeping well. is tylenol pm an option? or maybe by the time im making this reply, uve gotten more sleep? hope so. if not, eat ice cream. it improves any situation imo!

          • Hmmm, I also haven’t eaten much. I took the sleepy allergy meds and only slept for about 4-5 hours. just took some more.

          • D. Garrett

so that means ur gonna eat before the meds kick in right???

          • I had a little something.

          • D. Garrett

            good. :^)

          • I got sleep! ^_^ I slept all night! I had a bowl of cereal this morning too. ^_^ I am normal again!

          • D. Garrett

            kewl! that’s really good. had a lot of computer problems. Ƒ ư ɕ ƙ (╬゚◥益◤゚) ╬゚ !!!

so glad im back for camp!

  • davefragments

I can hear the plaintive question: “what about me?”

And GEE this was an early update.

    • The stars aligned. 🙂

      • D. Garrett

the expletives that burst from my mouth when i found out i missed camp doe!

  • stickfigurefairytales

I would love to see Gordon training with his powers to try to get better at precision work – like he’d be trying to unscrew the lid on a jar with the water.

    • YangYueLan

Him getting the water to tighten the hinge screw on glasses. That is precision work!

      • stickfigurefairytales

Now I’m picturing him trying to do that and just smashing the glasses to the ground with a huge blast of water.

        • YangYueLan

…that would be sad, but very likely!

  • silibub

I feel bad for Gordon, that he’s so doubtful of his own abilities yet has to put them to the test in a really high-risk situation. I’m impressed with Amanda for trusting him and expressing her confidence that he can do what needs to be done — that’s probably the best way to handle insecurity.

  • MITCH!!!! You look so lovely in that last panel.

    Oops! *backs away from Mitch*

    • silibub

Aha! As soon as Doki leaves, you move in for the kill!

      • *backs even further away, hands up*

Nope! Just looking, er, making an observation. And that’s all!

        • Hugs are allowed 😉

        • ……. So I have to keep an eye on you now Gryphon?

          • *says a bit too loud* NO!

ahem, nope. you do not have to keep an eye on me. i’ll just stay back here…so far back that i’ll need to use binoculars to see the page XD

oh hey, didn’t i say goodnight a little while ago? guess i better go now. see you all soon!

  • Toli Bera

“Oh! Flyboy, when did you get here?”

  • What Mitch And Alex) said! What about him? Or does he have the most important job of them all? You know, watching the plane.

Poor guy, always being left out, but expected to chauffeur everyone else around. Surely he has more to contribute than playing driver?

    • stickfigurefairytales

He gets to cheer everybody else on.

      • Rah Rah!

      • Terri Sutton

He should requisition a pair of pom poms from whoever employed the YP.

        • silibub

At least they’re not making him wear a little cheerleading outfit. (Or are they? Amanda’s already got Spooky getting ectoplasmically intimate with Duncan and then checking out a soldier’s crotch, so cosplay isn’t that much of a stretch.)

    • DC

I’m imagining Mitch putting his ‘launching’ ability into practice and helping out somehow. Don’t know if it is likely to happen or not but it is fun imagining him doing so.

      • I’m hoping they bring him in on the plan so he can be there legitimately.

    • Klaus

You need a reserve. A force ready to be sent in once you know just where it is needed most.

      • Well, if there were three or four other Mitches, I would agree, but leaving one 15 yr old boy, a 15 yr old boy who really really wants to be a part of it all, behind. That I think is a recipe for not only resentment but disaster.

        • I think sulky. Resigned sulkiness. Which might lead to him trying to help on his own. Aka, he sees a chance no one is utilizing and swoops in to take advantage of it only to have it backfire.

  • Ah.. just the right time I finally got myself out of bed.. I would have been right on spot if I had gotten up when my alarmclock rang 15mins ago 🙂
Missed camping but woke up to see Mitch ask the question we all want to know.

  • Kuca

    Yay! An early update!

Was wondering if Mitch would speak up.

  • AseretZone

Mitch, you’re a kid. You gotta stay in the ship. Or at least tell the army where they are. Show them, in fact. Get far away from the battle.

  • Terri Sutton

    I have many questions.

    Yeah Amanda, what about Mike?
    Is Fluke being sarcastic?
Is Amanda sure that water and electricity is a good mix?
Is sending the guy with demonic hellfire to use against the giant demonic cockring of hell not going to activate it?
Are you sure you are not pushing Spooky beyond what he is capable of?

    • ….. Mitch….

      • Terri Sutton

        Pauses . . . reads . . . rereads . . . shit!

      • Be honest Doki… how many times a day do you say THAT word? 😀

    • Klaus

Yes. (Whether she is right is a seperate question.)
Yes. (Whether she is right is a seperate question.)

  • silibub

I’ve been half-expecting Mitch to voice some of the doubts we were raising in the comments over the past few pages. Even just to point out that as elegant as it is in theory, it’s going to be very dicey once they get out there and actually try to implement it. For instance, Amanda didn’t really visualize Duncan putting up a struggle against Spooky’s restraints; if he does, containing him might take up the concentration Spooky would otherwise use to cover Gordon and Kyle. And that’s just one thing that could make a big difference.

(I also think it’s funny that while I’ve repeatedly questioned whether Spooky, Kyle, and Gordon will be able to hold back Sircea and Duncan, I’ve never once doubted that Amanda and Paul could beat up twenty armed minions without breaking a sweat. Mooks! They’re basically cardboard cutouts — one hit’s all it takes to get them out of the way.)

    • Terri Sutton

The mooks are probably just regular guys. Regular guys who have been doing a lot a manual labor in heavy blacks cloaks in god (Alex) only knows heat and then have been bleed. Several of them are probably at the point of passing out.

      • silibub

Good point. This is why you keep a fresh set of mooks around, to handle any conflict after you’ve worn out the first set.

        • The Costco bonus supply pack of mooks. Always good to have more mooks than you immediately need.

    • Saxon_Brenton

As I finally realised over the weekend in response to Donald’s comments, Fluke’s luck powers are probably the trump card in circumventing any of the ‘no plan survives contact with the enemy’ chaos problems. (This does raise amusing images of Annihilator *trying* to fight back, but tripping over his own feet…)
Having the Commander acknowledge that not everything will necessarily go as planned, that they will need flexibility in implementation, and that if needed she can use her telepathy to update the team on the fly is a nice touch. Nevertheless, I am feeling paranoid that Team Silver have anticipated something like this and are planning to neutralise Fluke as a factor.
      (Worry worry worry…)

      • silibub

My guess is that Sircea and Duncan are expecting Kyle to show up with the team, so I’ll worry with you over what that means for the Protectors.

        • AseretZone

“SURPRISE! These guys are just bait to distract you, you’re the REAL sacrifice! Oh yeah, Kyle, your dad says ‘hi’.”

          • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Maybe Mitch is the real sacrifice.

          • D. Garrett

uh oh! *hears jaws theme music…

          • I’ve been wondering who gets kidnapped?

      • D. Garrett

or sircea might use magic to neutralize amanda’s telepathy. as commander she is one of the main targets, if not THE main target. “cut off the head” strategy.

    • Samurai Jack

Oh no! Just saying this made me want to call the minions Putties. That would make the Platinum Palpatine… And Duncan! No. I just… I can’t even…

  • Saxon_Brenton

Alex, I truly appreciate the early update. I have a gaming meet tonight, and we’re meeting early to celebrate: one of the guys is a primary school teacher and his debating team just won the state championships. So I’ve had to rush home to shower, change clothes, and grab my stuff before I leave in the next five minutes.

I will leave you all to enjoy the warm glow of getting to see Fly Boy again 🙂

    • Congrats to his debate team! Have fun! Don’t do anything too crazy to celebrate!

  • Mary Klemzak

Please oh please have an important job for Mitch! He wants soo much to be important.

Ugh, just lookit him! How can you all resist such a cutie patiotie baby child face?

    • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

      Monitor duty!

Yeah, it would be a tragedy if anything happened to ‘im, like a heroic sacrifice.

  • A full panel of only Mitch…. ^_^ (stomach still upset, won’t let me go to sleep -_-)

    • Sorry about your stomach, Doki. I hope you feel better but I’m glad the panel is here for you.

  • D. Garrett

i know that this isnt about the mission but the commander is hella lucky to have that much sexy to work around. jus sayin…and im loving kyles thoughtful pose. maybe he will posit something next???

  • I’m very interested in what Amanda will say on the next page. Is she keeping Mitch out of the fight or does she have a special task for him? Clearly something Mitch wants to know as much as the rest of us.
I’m loving how Spooky looks in panel 2, and I want to touch that lock of hair 😉
Must say that Amanda’s telepathy is a great power to have when coordinating and there’s a chance of big sudden changes. I also like how she’s good at boosting their confidence.
I’ve said this before but, looking at Tsu standing next to Amanda, damn he’s a big guy 🙂

    • RE: Tsunami — Wait until you see the NSFW Height Chart. 🙂

      • You horrible tease LOL
I can’t wait.. with any of them. You just mentioned one of the more special backer rewards I look most forward to xD

      • silibub

I’ve been meaning to ask — that chart’s for the guys, but are we going to learn what Amanda and Sircea’s heights are, too? Like on one of their cards?

        • @alexwoolfson:disqus if you didn’t expect this question from our silibub I’m going to doubt your prescient abilities… (shoulda seen this one coming a chapter ago).

If Ms. silibub is allowed to ask for measurements on a more intimate feminine basis, then we men get to ask also!!! Size IS important.

          Hey! Fair is fair! 🙂

          • silibub

Hey, I hope you get aaall the information you need, Chris — personally I’m most curious about their heights! (Not that I’d ever complain about having more data, no…)

          • Such a lady… you make us all proud. Heeeeeee…..

        • There are stats that are revealed on the cards for all ten characters covered, including certain measurements, but on these cards, exact height isn’t included.

Perhaps something for a future card type. 🙂

          • *chris marks down ‘future card type’ on his list of essential things*

          • silibub

“Certain measurements” — I wonder what those could be, LOL!

Oh well, we can probably make a good estimate for Amanda and Sircea’s heights once we know the guys’. And I like the sound of future cards!

      • Tahir Raines

Is it too shameful to hope that he is big all over?

        • One should never be ashamed to hope and dream, IMHO.

        • I’d actually taken it as head-canon (but that actually sounded pervy-errrrrr than just saying, ‘I hope he’s appropriately endowed’. [insert blushing, but thoughtful, emoticon here]

          You are NOT alone. Heh.

  • Klaus

And this is where PP makes a preemtive strike against the YP plane.

  • dusko

You stay here and look pretty honey, you’re to young for this fight. <3 XD

  • Falconfly

“You get to be the ignored one, so you can be resentful and betray us all! What, don’t pretend you don’t see that coming, this is a superhero comic after all.”

    • -_- Mitch would never!

….though he might try to do something heroic and end up botching things….

  • bronakopdin

There is the question of the day 😀
and he already looks disappointed, our Mitch 🙁
Now let’s see which answer he gets on Saturday

And somhow I have a feeling that Kyle wants to ask or add something to it! The way he’s holding his chin shows he’s still in thought about something 😀

    • Derkins

      I bet you’re right 🙂

  • TwilightDreamer

that was going to be my question…was waiting the whole explanation to see, and he didn’t get a part… :(…poor Flyboy…I hope he isn’t left out of this…

  • D. Garrett

i think its cool u can see the difference in color depth of hair color between mitch, amanda and spooky. i like spooky’s hair color best.

    • …Mitch. I am partial to blue-black. ^_^

      • D. Garrett

yanno, i honestly thought ur fav would be amanda! haha. jk.

        • No worries… EVERYONE’S fave is Amanda… she just rocks! (Says the gay man).

          • D. Garrett

she IS cool. i liked her from the beginning when she first talked with spooky. (says the straight girl. i dont LIKE her. lol.)

  • Pikinanou

too bad Mitch can’t read mind right now, he wouldn’t have to wait next update to know what Amanda has in store for him! 😀

  • Amanda says, “Mitch, you are the other plan… the escape plan. If it all goes bad you are the one who saves the whole team.” … or something like this.

  • Phyre Storm

Jeez, Tsunami actually came up with CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, AND admitted not being good at something. You feeling OK, Gordy? O_o

  • Sapfo

This page is tranquil than the previous. That in their coolness was still just a dream scenario of what’s to come. This does make me a sceptic. This is to good to be true, which make me think of murphy’s law. Goodness, I do not like being a pessimist, but this last few pages (as wonderful pieces of art as they where) do make me think that bad stuff is about to happen.

I guess that the next page will show what Mitch will do/be during the attack. But after that it is time for the real world to screw things up. So, Gordan have been the pessimist in the group so far, but maybe he is more a realist. He knows his powers and maybe he is right.

So let´s go back to page 71. The “Big fire and water” scene of the planing. A big show of Kyle and Gordas power makes the minions shake in their robes. So what does Murphy´s (that would be me ;D) law say about this page?
Could it be that the river is to far away for Gordon to get the water from it? Might there be some kind of protection around ceremony area that prevents Kyle from using his fire powers?

    What about page 72?
“Lovely Spooky steals some buttons from Duncan” page 😀
I love Spooky, but what if Duncan is somehow immun to magic powers. What if there is something to stop him from stealing all thouse cute little buttons?

Page 73: “Amanda rules” page… oh and more fire and water!
This means that if part one of Gordans and Kyles part does not succeed, then Amanda standing all alone against PP. Might be a problem. And I dont know if I have seen to many horror movies. But buring the book usally do not work. Magic books are usally protected somehow. But then Kyle is the son of a hell king, so maybe his hell fire will have a bit on it.

Page 74, “Paul can kick some ass” page.
Well I guess this page is up to the old thing called luck. Let´s hope Paul do not run out of it.

Page 75, “Did a mention that Spooky is cool?” page.
….. Sorry, the coolness of Spooky took over my mind for a moment.
I find it kind of scary that Spooky do realize that the cage is protected, but might not the rest of the area also be so?

Page 76, “things goes according to plane?” page
This is kind of hard to tell. If everything else really goes the way they want it to. Now is the time to figure out how “the thing” works and a lot of people doing two or more things at once.

    Page 77, “cavalry arrives” page.
I really do hope that Gordon can do what you say he can do Amanda. But water into the cage that have people who needs to be able to breath. I hope he can get the water out of it as fast as he can get it in.

    and now this page…

It feels like I might be a bit to pessimistic of the last few pages. The art is absolutely beautiful and gorgeous. But this is not reality. this is a dream that has not yet been shown to be feasible. I do hope for the best for our young heros. Break a leg?

Thank you Alex, Veronica and Adam for a wonderful comic and beautiful art.

    • You’re welcome, Sapfo. Thank you for your thoughtful recap. 🙂

  • justkeepondriving

Flyboy is so kawaii in the last panel ^.^ ♥

  • Has anyone asked recently what happened to the other alien power dampener that got stolen? You know? Like the one in Hong Kong? Still, I suppose that S&D would have to find a way for it to effect the TYP gang only…

    Just curious on a Wednesday.

    • Klaus

It did not work on the dust supplied by PP.

      • But that was a magic thing, not a power to affect.

        • Klaus

That was magic. Most likely Sircea’s magic. If it works when contained in an object, why would it not work if used directly? And even if it would not, she could make an arsenal of magic items to use while her enemies are without powers.

  • DoktorNauk

I just want the fight to happen so I can stop being on pins and needles about just how it’s gonna go wrong.

  • SchalaRenee

Tsunami is WAY too worried about his part in the plan. It’s almost like he wants the Commander to tell him to stay out of it. Like he doesn’t want to get outed (no pun intended) as one of the good guys….

  • Jackal

All I can think about is the Unspoken Plan Guarantee, and how these pages basically ensure that our heroes get their asses paddled by demons and have to fight their way out of Satan’s asscrack or something.

    • D. Garrett

      oh my god! too funny!

  • As cranky as my gay self has been recently with Tsunami (like letting the
Admiral kick him out the back door of the jet), I have to say that he is looking particularly delish on this page. (Did I say DELISH?)

    • You did not just say delish! I refuse to believe you just said that.

      • When did MY Admiral become a linguistic prude. I’m so shocked. If you don’t think Tsunami looks yummy on this page then just say so, but don’t try to make me talk about how adorbs Mitch looks in that last panel… erm did I just talk about Mitch. Whoops. The pup is 15. No I did NOT just admire his adorbs-ness.

        (oh dear… I feel shame)

        • It’s the word delish. Really? Soon I’m expecting you to say nummy num nums.

          • D. Garrett

i like the word delish. gotta try to remember to use it. and im stealing nummy num num too!

        • He is adorable, isn’t he? ^_^

        • Sapfo

Shame on you my dear Chris! You keep your eyes of Spo… Wait you did not even mention that guy.
          Spooky boy is mine! Muahaha!

          • Well, unless that’s your military junk he’s staring at in the last page, I think we’ll both have to accept that our SPOOKY is an equal opportunity playah! Dang.

(He’s still hotter than hot… the little cutie)

          • Sapfo

Oh but he would never hurt me, I am so innocent and …. innocent.

(got the whole break room at work to start laughing with that line yesterday. For some reason they all seemed to buy it XD)

    • silibub

He has the physique of a bruiser, but a really sensitive face; I think it’s a great contrast!

    • Maybe the word ..uhmm words.. you’re looking for is hubba hubba 😉

      • Unfortunately that is almost always two of the words “I’m looking for.” LOL.

    • Saxon_Brenton

I can’t actually find the post at the moment (so I might be delusional…) but I’m pretty sure that in the past I’ve made the observation that when Tsunami isn’t being all cranky-pants and frowny-face, that he has quite pleasant and open features. (And this despite all the diagonal lines in his facial tattoos that by rights should make frowny-face seem to be his default expression.) Anyway, the guy really should smile more.

      • I agree there is a sweetness to his expression at times that is very appealing. I thought @silibub:disqus put it well when she points out below the comparison of the “physique of a bruiser” with this innocence of his face and expression. Artistically, it’s not an easy dichotomy to achieve. This page shares it quite well.

More than my silliness of referring to him being ‘delish’ looking. This page balances some of his hints of anti-gay, anti-team, cranky pants behavior. Not to say all questions are answered, but you can feel in this page (visually) that there is more going on with Gordon than the obvious.

I’m looking forward to hearing more about what’s driving him right here.

Why do I fear something bad (but temporary) is going to happen to Mitch…?… launching us into the next chapters rescue and battles.

Mebbe I’m just in a mood. Heh. I’ll stick to the fact that Gordon just has a great face.

  • Megan Staples

At last, Flyboy has asked “What about me?” They better NOT say “Guard the ship.” I don’t think he’ll like that. Thay’ve been leaving him out a lot. Having to sneak out on his own to the computer to discover what the team was looking at (“Fangirls draw us all gay!”), having to listen to Fluke and keep his distance when Kyle called for help. Even with all the work of flying the team around (is that telekinesis he has?), the team is taking him for granted. Flyboy is only gonna tolerate that for so long, and he might be on the edge of rebellion already it seems. The next thing you know, Mitch might try to crawl into Kyle’s bed! 15 gets you 20!

    • Terri Sutton

Is it wrong to think that Mitch (on his 16th bday) entering Kyle’s room naked announcing; “hey I’m legal now”, kind of funny.

      • Megan Staples

        It’s funny. 🙂

      • Yes, while indeed funny, it is still deeply deeply wrong and we should feel shame… shaaaaame.

I, however, must join you in this bout of humor and shame because I too think it, not only “kind of funny”, but “very funny.” This may make me wronger than you… (is ‘wronger’ even a word?). Wow that makes me ‘wrong’ AND a bad speller. Geeze.

Ahhh well, at least we have our honesty!

  • Kate G

Yes, Admiral, what ABOUT the delicious it-would-be-considered-rape-if-I-kissed-him Flyboy??? Is he supposed to twiddle his thumbs protecting the escape jet?

Poor Mitch, always relegated to the back lines.

Also, does anyone notice Spooky giving Amanda the critical eye? It’s like he’s trying to communicate, “Uh, boss, PROBLEM!!!!” without undermining her authority.

    • …..So I have to keep an eye on you too… 😛

      • Kate G

Spooks has to keep an eye on everyone. Does that mean he has eight other pairs of eyes somewhere? 😛

        • …Hmm, will that image change something for me now?

Nope, I’ll still be first in line for Spooky 😉

      • Kate G

I just made a pun. >.< I need to stop watching Gotham. All of those puns used within an hour. XDDD

        • You want something full of puns? Read Dominic Deegan Oracle For Hire…

  • Adam Irving

That’s a nice collage of the team in the first panel.

And yeah, Tsunami is looking pretty ripped. Another great page!

  • You sit there and be gorgeous that’s what.

  • Rashel Izro

well well, lets see how this works out.hmmmm

  • Shinashi

I don’t think Fly’s going to like the answer >.>

  • Advance apologies for a Dangerfield spamesqe post…

I promise I had nothing personal to do with this media-commodity. Thus, this is simply an odd recommendation from someone who is very hard on their film-watching and rarely does this. Honestly, I surprise myself:

If you like Disney Animated films (and even if you don’t), if you like smart characters, nerds and geeks – enjoyed and celebrated, if you like robots and the field of robotics, if you like super heroes, if you can tolerate an HEA and Disney’s typical lack of blood combined with its typical surfeit of hugs (yet hugs that are with a really cool and adorable robot); if any or all of these things appeal to you…

Then do yourself, and friends of any movie-going age, a favor and go see Disney Animation’s BIG HERO 6.

I was surprised at how much fun I had. Smartly written, great character designs and choices, a really creative and fresh environment design, and good fun. (OH, AND DID I SAY REALLY FUN ROBOTS?)

I only offer this up for those who wouldn’t think to go to this film (like myself) and might (like myself) have a surprisingly good time.

The story is set in SanFranTokyo and it’s design (while American) of both character and environment styles are heavily influenced by Yaoi and/or Manga (my terminology is a bit weak) but very much by these art forms and Japanese culture. Not heavy handed, it gives the film a fresher than usual ‘future’ feeling. All these elements made me think this might make it of more than usual interest to this group. Annnnnnd, at this time of year, you need a film to take younger relations to, but would still like to enjoy it yourself? This is THAT.

A film worth my time and money… and I don’t say that often. 🙂

    • I wish I could go see it now but, as it’s (sadly) quite common here in Denmark when a Disney/Pixar movie is out at this time of the year, the movie premiere in Denmark is pushed to late january. To make it fit well with the week of winter holiday the schools here have in mid february. Entangled and Brave was pushed back too.

I get it, because there’s a load of movies coming out in the next two months (incl. the Danish ones here), and two movies like Hunger Games – Mockingjay pt.1 + The Hobbit coming out almost the same time. They take a lot of the coming cinema space.
A movie like Big Hero 6 would be better off later when people have time to see it, but the wait is annoying -_-
At least we get the last Hobbit movie here already dec. 10th, to tidy things over a little.

(And I guess you mean it’s inspired by mangas or animes. Yaoi is just the BL part of those two terms)

      • Choreocrat

I feel your pain, DanishWolf. We only have to wait until Christmas for Big Hero 6, and that feels bad enough. But we don’t even have to wait for translations and dubbing. It’s just, as you say, to make it fit holidays. 🙁

      • Oh poop. I’m sorry that it’s not all easy and simultaneous, just know that this isn’t a “must see” in the sense that people might ruin it by telling you a spoiler. When it comes to your part of the world, take a young friend or relative and you will have a good time. Promise! xo

    • I remember seeing a trailer for that and thinking that the kid reminded me of a young Cain. >.<

      • I wouldn’t know. He’s a good character regardless.

        • ^_^ It was just an observation someone made and now I cannot unsee it. ^_^

          • All good… I just meant that I didn’t make that connection and that it doesn’t really matter, it’s still fun. (all good).

    • Terri Sutton

So are you saying that Big Hero 6 continues the record of good Marvel material movies?

I might watch it, if I still remember it when it finally hit Aussie shores.

      • DC

Due here Boxing Day in Village Cinemas.

      • No, it has nothing to do with the Marvel sub-division of Disney. This is completely in animation in the nature of Pixar’s BRAVE or Disney’s FROZEN. Although tonally it’s very different from BRAVE or FROZEN. As I said it has threads of Japanese design styles and animé in its composition that seemed fresh to me and made me think of alerting this group.

But, I don’t want you to think this is anything like a live-action, Thor or Avenger film.

        Is that clear? 🙂

        • Terri Sutton

You are aware that Big Hero Six started out as a Marvel comic right?

It was designed with Japanese influences in an attempt to carve out a share of the Japanese market.

          • Oh sorry. Yes indeed. But this incarnation is almost completely Disney animation in feel. I didn’t want anyone to go expecting to see what the current incarnation of Marvel is presenting, because it’s not that at all. It’s still 95% Disney animation in feel and 5% Japanese influence. I liked it and my nephew will love it, but it’s not what film audiences are thinking of as Marvel today, in the film world. Iron Man… etc… you know.

But thanks for helping make that more clear.

    • bronakopdin

I have to admit I’m a huge Disney fan ever since I was small and have to admit that the latest movies are a little too much on the funny side sometimes yet loveable and this really sounds interesting 😀
I may wait for the German cinemas to get it though but I’ll keep it in mind 🙂

  • SofiaT

Super busy this weekend so I’ll have to skip camping, but here is a gift for you people, if you haven’t already heard of it, before I go:
For the first time ever, actor openly identifying themselves as queer, is casted in a lead superhero role; meet the new Flash:

…Is Hollywood finally getting with the times?
Will we –one day– be able to see TYP on the big screen?
    One can’t help but wonder!

    Over and out. 🙂

  • Evoru

I have the terrible feeling that the box will be rigged to self-destruct if anyone tries to tamper with it, and Gordon is going to be face-to-face with a box full of exploding people.

Also, our young pilot will be so upset at not getting to directly participate that he’ll do something stupidly courageous, get killed, and end up being the sacrifice.

  • Any campers out there?

    • *peeks up from book* here.

    • I am here-ish ^_^

    • Expect an early update tonight. 🙂

    • Saxon_Brenton

Yes. Reading the Saturday morning paper, but I’m here.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      I’m here now!

      • Did you get my message on Tumblr? And boy has it changed. It feels so odd….

        • stickfigurefairytales

I did, thank you! And yeah, the changes are all really weird. I did find an extension that restores images back to their old dimensions, though. If you want it, you can find it on my blog under the tag “tumblr” or “tumblr-update”.

  • Holly

    • *rushes over* Holly!!!! Are you okay???

      • Holly

I hate my Coworkers. Other than than, I am okay. Is Aj Here with Muffins?!

        • I think she was reading a book. But I have brownies with walnuts and chocolate chunks.

          • Gimme brownies!

          • *hands AJ a couple of brownies*

          • *nom nom nom*

          • Holly

So I have been thinking about something, but i’m not sure if it’s right to ask

          • What is it?

          • Holly

Remember how a while ago someone said I should make a Go Fund Me to pay for school? Is that a good idea?

          • I honestly have no idea. I have no experience with GFM. 🙁 I don’t even know how it works. 🙁 I don’t even know enough about it to offer an informed opinion. 🙁

          • stickfigurefairytales

I just went on the GoFundMe website, and it said that one of the top five purposes that people raise money for through it is for education. So it looks like that could be a good option!

          • Holly

mmm but the people I know IRL I have mentioned this plan to have directly stated they will not help

          • stickfigurefairytales

Hmm. Well, will they help you if you don’t start a GoFundMe campaign? Because if the answer is no, you don’t have anything to lose.

          • Holly

            valid point

        • *muffins falls from the sky*

          • Holly

            SKY MUFFINS!!!

          • Muffins are never derpy.

          • Holly

AJ does not get my reference

          • Nope. I’m uncool.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            We love you anyway, AJ.

          • It’s part of my charm. 😀

          • Holly

It’s a pretty lame ref anyway, so you are no less cool for not knowing

          • YAY!

          • stickfigurefairytales

            This is true.

          • Incorrect. Bite your tongue!

          • Thanks you for saying so, but tongue biting is painful, unless it’s someone else’s tongue.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Friendship is magic.

          • Holly

            Though Sticky does get it

          • stickfigurefairytales

            High five.

          • Well that entirely explains the Tunguska event in Russia. A large muffin-splosion which occurred near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in what is now Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia in 1908… I just had no idea that the Admiral was working that far back. Wow!

          • Those were pastries, not muffins.

  • Holly

    Mitch: What about me?
Commander and Tsunami in unison: STAY IN THE SHIP!!!

    • Mitch: *sad face*

      • Holly

And thus the Fangirls and Fanboys rejoiced for their Lord Alex had bestowed on them the Mitch Pout through the magic of the Great Ones Adam and Veronica.

        • Steven Klimecky

Yeah – he’s so adorable with that pouty-face – except that he’s adorable in just about any expression.

  • davefragments

    Hi y’all

  • davefragments

Because someone screwed up on getting a replacement tire for theft I got last week, I had my snow tires put on the car (because I hated driving on the donut) and today I had to pick up my new tire that will wait until spring to use.
I ate steak with fried onions and baked potato like a ravenous piggy carnivore just to celebrate. . .

    • stickfigurefairytales

Doesn’t sound like fun. At least you got to have tasty food to make up for it, though!

      • davefragments

I’m the first and last resort for my stomach.

        • You are so NOT alone. My stomach perked up and understood that post! 🙂

    • I had boneless pork chops, mashed potatoes, and some noodles.

      • davefragments

I made that last week. No noodles, though. I didn’t have the broth. This weekend I’m going to make stuffing and gorge myself on it.

      • Holly

I had a sandwich. Sibling/roomate doesn’t work so we run out of food quickly.

    • Steven Klimecky

Mmm. I like mine with sauteed onions and thick-cut steak-fries to dunk in the juice/drippings.

    • OH GOOD FOR YOU… you are my kind of ravenous piggy carnivore! No I’m hungry darnit! LOL.

  • stickfigurefairytales

We’ve got lots of snow here. I shoveled a good deal of it.

    • Holly

It is not snow here yet. Just rain. Much Much November rain.

      • davefragments

        Better than snow!

        • Holly

I commented i only wanted snow for Christmas and someone told me if I didn’t like snow i should move south. but i live in one of the most southern parts of my country. I DO NOT WANT TO CHANGE COUNTRIES

          • davefragments

I know the feeling. I used to take my nieces and buy them the loveliest little holiday dresses for Christmas and Easter and damn if both holidays weren’t too cold for little dresses and they would wear coats. I hated snow at Christmas because I had to stay over and then worry about my driveway being snowy.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Has it gotten cold?

        • Holly

We had flurries so it is not that snow does not exist, it’s just too warm between -3 and 1c

          • stickfigurefairytales

That’s the least fun weather, in my opinion.

          • Holly

Yeah it’s DAMP and Chilly and Grey. Snow can come in the sun

          • stickfigurefairytales

Plus it looks pretty on trees and things.

    • davefragments

yesterday, there were snow pellets in the air. they melted as they hit the ground but made the roads slick. I had a trunkful of groceries that I had to protect.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Slick roads are tricky.

        • davefragments

But because of my weird tire tale, I was the only crazed loon in the roads with snow tires.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Hooray for ending up prepared!

          • davefragments

Yes. This morning I opened my front door like it was any summer day. Tonight, when I checked the locks, I discovered the winter stiffness because the ground is freezing and when the ground freezes the front of the house rises

          • Holly

The DAY I got my snowtires on it flurried

    • We have had some snow, but like always it didn’t stick around much.

      • stickfigurefairytales

At least you got to see it falling, though! That’s pretty.

    • You’re welcome to send some of the moisture here. It’s way too warm for snow, but some rain would be good.

      • stickfigurefairytales

I can try, but whenever I do that it seems to result in big storms.

        • So. Cal. could use the water.

          • stickfigurefairytales

But what if it causes flooding?

          • Well if it would be light rain over an extended period? That should work.

          • stickfigurefairytales

I will see what I can do, but no guarantees. Perhaps we should see if Tsunami can help?

          • I’m will to try anything! Well almost anything. I draw the line at dealing with radioactive goats and grey working.

          • davefragments

How about a few chickens and a voodoo priestess?

          • I’d take some fried chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy. And what the heck, some coleslaw 😀

          • davefragments

I can make that for dinner tomorrow!

          • YES! Now that’s magic!

          • davefragments

If you or Stick who up, I’ll cook. I just froze 4 chicken breasts, several steaks, a few porkchops and a couple chicken thighs.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Mmm! Now I just have to figure out how to get there! And where, exactly, “there” is, I suppose.

          • davefragments

            near Washington PA.

          • stickfigurefairytales

No need to tell me! It’ll be more fun if I can find you using Spooky’s iScry. 🙂

          • We need a teleportation device. Has it been invented yet? Or can we steal Sircea’s staff and set up a portal for ourselves.

          • davefragments

Hijack Alex and Adam and Veronica and have ourselves a private convention.

          • Mwahahahaha!

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Yes, perfect.

          • *rubs hands together* Now, how to go about succeeding.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            We’ll probably need some minions.

          • Hmmm, most likely. I think I still have the website for the minion union.

          • What Stick said!

          • stickfigurefairytales

Ooh, count me in for that!

          • We’ll make it a picnic! Even if it has to be indoors. 🙂

          • See, Admiral, you know how to throw a Voodoo get together. Sure someone may get possessed, but the food is going to be awesome!

          • Who invited the voodoo priestess? I just ordered fried chicken!

          • silibub

*perks up* …Ah, never mind. Wrong priestess.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Laampros is free next Tuesday, I hear…

          • Ha! Yeah, I have to wash my hair that day. 😐

          • Does it involve a blow dry and hair gel?

          • That’s the next day.

    • Saxon_Brenton

      We’ve got bushfires 🙁
Oh, and an infestation of world leaders for the G20 summit in Brisbane. As I recall, some people were suggesting that the proper collective noun was ‘a megalomania’.

      • stickfigurefairytales

Oh dear! I love that collective noun, though.

      • davefragments

“Infestation” is the right word. The unfortunate part of it is that political bullshit unlike real bullshit and its cousins horseshit and chicken shit (properly called Horse Manure and Chicken Litter) has no value – – it is all stink and no substance.

        (edit: my spellchecker hates “sh*t”)

        • Saxon_Brenton

To be ruthlessly even handed: There are sometimes useful outcomes from this sort of thing – but they are the products of months or even years of negotiation in the leadup. The leaders getting together always strikes me as a photo opportunity. And I’ve fantasised for years that if they were really as concerned about security as some of the lockdowns of the cities would suggest – then maybe it would be good idea to hire a large cruise ship and hold the meeting a few kilometres out to sea where the protestors can’t as easily get to them.
Ah me. Sorry about that, going off into a dream world again…

          • davefragments

I am wondering what President Obama is going to say to PO the Republicans. He did a good job on them from Myanmar. Politics is like bat-crap crazy in this country right now.

    • silibub

I’d love snow if I didn’t have to worry about driving in it. Be careful out there!

      • stickfigurefairytales

Thanks! My dad is actually driving back from Columbus at the moment (normally a 2 and a half hour drive). I’m hoping he stays safe!

  • stickfigurefairytales
  • Kabbalist

I know there might be a more appropriate place to mention this (like right before they spring into action), but I’m seeing one MAJOR problem with Commander’s plans: Each segment, each individual’s role, represents one more place where something could go wrong, the timing could be off, a bird could crap on someone’s head at a critical moment, etc. As soon as one step fails to go off at the right time, the following steps get wobbly.

So…it’s great in theory, but seeing it put into practice may prove less graceful.
