  • Sapfo

    “GRUMPY CAT APPROVES!”

  • I’m scared… want them safe.

    • Cman65

      safe is fine but dull

      • Oh, I want them to fight alright, but I still ant them safe and sound too.

  • davefragments

    yay sapfo . . .

The plan is revealed, sort of. Let’s just throw some rocks guys and call the calvary

    • Saxon_Brenton

A very good point. Going by what Commander was saying when they first boarded the plane, now that the Young Protectors have identified the ritual site, any plan should probably involve *having already called* the military, even if it’s only for mopping up, let alone logistical support of the Protector’s attack somehow goes FUBAR.

      • silibub

I think Amanda said she gave the military their location already, but they need to dive in and stall for time now because reinforcements are at least an hour away.

        • Saxon_Brenton

Good. I must have missed that. I need to reread more often…

      • Amanda was on the horn to the military since before boarding the glider. She could not mobilize them until she confirmed a target site. That happened only minutes ago so it takes time for the cavalry to arrive.

  • Of course Commander has a plan for that. Probably an app too.

  • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Let’s hope it goes according to plan.

  • SofiaT

    I see that smile, Amanda… >:D

The Commander has a plan so cunning, you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel!

    • Choreocrat

Give that plan a the Chair of Cunning at Cunning University!

      • SofiaT

It’s a plan as cunning as a fox who’s just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University!

    • silibub

I’ve never heard that expression, but I really like it!

      • SofiaT

        Blackadder! 🙂

Skip the first season and start from season 2.
        You’ll love it!

      • SofiaT
        • silibub

That does look interesting! Adding it to my list.

          • SofiaT

Just make sure you don’t watch that first season. Utterly disappointing and nothing at all like the rest of Blackadder.

    • davefragments

      my favorite Blackadder quote is:
As private parts to the gods are we, they play with us for their sport.

      • SofiaT

My favorite is from Hugh Laurie’s Lieutenant George: “Permission for bottom lip to tremble, sir”.

  • silibub

Makes me nervous to think of Kyle and Tsunami getting that close, but I like the imagery and the minions diving for cover!

Tsunami’s rueful expression when he talks about his wave not getting anyone killed is interesting, to say the least. I’m sure this has no backstory ramifications whatsoever. None.

I hope Spooky is Amanda’s biggest fanboy — I’m loving how pumped he is about her strategizing.

  • Terri Sutton

Can I just say, that Gordon’s codpiece looks less intimidating without colour.

    • I rather like how men in this comic have actual crotches and not “Barbie Doll Bumps.” That said Gordon seems to be rather “blessed” doesn’t he?

      • Probably ‘just’ matching up to the size of the rest of him 😉

        • Well, you know, proportions need to look natural and boy, does he look natural. Is it warm in here?

  • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Something tells me it’s not going to be that easy. I want to see what Sircea can do. She should be very powerful, I hope she doesn’t turn out to be wimpy.

    • silibub

I saw the art for her powers card — wimpy she is not.

      • Wait.. did I miss a KS update or something? I can’t remember seeing the art for her.

        • silibub

I think it was like, 98 or 99?

    • davefragments

Unless luck is on their side

and a little magic lurking in the weeds

    • Samurai Jack

Let’s see, powerful magic user, 6000+ years old… Think she might have performed a ritual or two over the millennia? The entire site is probably warded against intrusion, or surrounded with death magicks or something. This plan has no chance of success. They’re just going to have to talk it out.

  • Choreocrat

I’m still not convinced that this is what they’re supposed to do in Sircea’s complex planning.

    • silibub

I think it would be funny if she was all prepared to foil their attempts to disrupt the ritual, but they wind up taking her by surprise anyway because she was prepared for an elegant plan, not “We’re gonna knock that thing over. Just right on the ground.”

      • Choreocrat

        LOL! That would be hilarious.

“Fools! You were supposed to set it up so that HotStuff here would pretend to convince OldAndGrey there to come over and then have LuckyBoy give me some bad luck while DungeonsAndDragons sets some spiritual attacks on me, but nooo, you had to come in all ScoobyGang and just bash the place up!”

        • OMG your nicknames for characters are hysterical! “DungeonsandDragons”…? ROFLMAO!

          • Choreocrat

            Too much Buffy… *blushes*

          • Adam Black

What her name for Tsunami ?

            ( Wet-Dream? Guyser-Riser ? Pacific Princess? )

damn these write themselves, dont they ?

          • Choreocrat

Tattoonami, Mr Muscles, Khal Drogo, …

As for the Commander, you could go for Buffy, Professor X, … or maybe Sircea would just be lazy and go for ‘b***hface’.

          • Adam Black

SlipperlyNipples, Surf and Turf, Fins and Skins,
Nots-so-dry Guy, last but not least Chicken-of-theSea

        • Adam Black

          @Choreocrat: disqus wins the internet,
we can all go home now

  • rgleon9986

I really hope that Kyle’s power isn’t necessary to activate the gate; applying demonic power from both sides, or something. :(. EDIT: It seems like these are the kind of villains who take EVERYTHING into account.

  • Terri Sutton

Utterly surprised by no one mentioning Kyle’s ass. Utterly surprised!

    • silibub

Yeah, it’s been fifteen minutes already. Maybe they’re waiting to see it in glorious color.

    • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

He’s probably meant to be wearing trousers.

      • Terri Sutton

He’s wearing a skin-tight outfit and the butt-cheeks have been pencilled in.

I repeat, the butt-cheeks have been pencilled in!

        • davefragments

yes, he has a cute, round butt, muscular legs, and strong back.

        • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

If only they had some way to distract Duncan….

    • Choreocrat

Sorry, I was too busy ogling a tattooed chest…

    • Stubbylegs

Right now I’m sleepy and I want to use it as a pillow, although if I did I’d just be hoping he didn’t fart.

      • Terri Sutton

Should I be asking if his farts are pre-lighted?

        • Klaus

          No

    • Cman65

Red’s butt is cute but my ex had the best furry little butt ever

    • Adam Black

      Shhh
      we were all too polite.
Now you have shamed him in Public, and too late to take it back.

If he alters his costume , I’m blaming you .

  • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Die, human worms! But first grovel before the greatness that is Laampros! Your puny “protectors” cannot save you now! Mwahahaha!

  • Sapfo

Fire and water! This page in color is going to be something extra 😀

    • Klaus

Some say the ritual will end in fire …

      • Shjade

        And wouldn’t that be nice?
Were I to guess at your desire,
I’d say you root for Kyle’s fire.
But if they had to break it twice,
I think I know enough of “fate”
To bet that, like rigged rolling dice,
        Fluke’s luck is great
        And could suffice.

        • Klaus

We have a poet among us.

          • Shjade

No one can know how glad I am to find
In these comments just one remark so kind.

I may have memorized some Frost in the past. ;p

  • “No plan survives contact with the enemy.”
    Helmuth von Moltke

As Commander’s plan unfolds I begin shake my head sadly. Too many steps, too many unknowns, and too many assumptions. I won’t claim to be an expert but it seems only common sense to stick with I know. This is a search and rescue team so focus on search and rescue. Focus on the hostages. Their absence stops the ritual in its tracks.

Don’t bother trying to break it or get in. Have Flyboy and Tsunami work together to use the river. Flyboy lightens the cube as best he can and Tsunami uses his power to transport the cube to the river. In the meantime have Kyle, Fluke, Spooky, and Amanda focus on distraction. Knock over the gate, set the hems of the cultists’ robes on fire so they run around like idiots shrieking. Spooky and Fluke can play on the chaos to keep Duncan and Sircea off-balance. Hit, run, save people, bide time for the military to nuke the site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

Am I missing something? The current plan strikes me as doomed to failure. Commander is focusing on exactly the elements that the bad guys expect to be attacked. Sure, hostages are part of that but like mentioned below. The way the cube is tackled might be enough to throw Sircea off.

Regardless, I can’t wait for the full-color page. It’s great to see Adam’s raw pencils but it’s the combined magic with Veronica that I enjoy.

Oh, and while I think Gordon acts like a twerp I don’t find his codpiece intimidating at all. I didn’t know he wore one. Thank you for inspiring me to look hard at the picture.

    • Klaus

I don’t see how Tsunami could move the box to the river. Unless you want to wash it there with a wave, which would be dangerous to the hostages. And I don’t think Flyboy can make things lighter. I don’t think he has superstrength either. When he flyes, whatever he touches flies with him. Presumably there is a weight or bulk limit.

      • Jakk Anthony Guzman

They can create enough of a distraction for Flyboy to touch the glass box and fly away with it. Can he do it? He can make cars and planes fly. Is the glass box heavier than a plane or a car? I would assume that the plane is heavier.

I agree with Donald, they are a rescue team. They should be concentrating on rescuing the hostages, and since the hostages seem to be essential to the ritual that would put a stop to it. Perhaps that will be the second part of Amanda’s plan.

        • Adam Black

Does it matter where that bomb goes off.

Spooky needs to send a demon in there to eat it

          • Demonic indigestion. I don’t want to know what they take in hell for stomach upset.

          • Adam Black

            people

          • Tastes great, less filling.

          • D. Garrett

das funny! kinda miss those commercials.

          • Adam Black

            Non-Americans maybe

        • Klaus

I am sure he could lift it if it is just standing on the ground. If it is build on some kind of foundation, I don’t know if he could rip it free.

          • That is where Tsunami and perhaps Spooky lend a hand. The team has power and resources to pull such a maneuver off, of that I’m certain.

        • D. Garrett

we know pp can open portals like she did for duncan and kyles date. couldnt she just open a portal and kidnap new hostages?

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

She may, but she would have to interrupt the ritual to do it. She would have to waste time looking around for new hostages, unless she decides that there is not enough time and uses the minions.
There is a countdown timer inside the box and the time left is less than an hour. So maybe PP doesn’t have enough time to finish the ritual and look for more hostages?

          • D. Garrett

i think it could be done quickly if she opens the portal in a densely populated area. like downtown new york or chicago. etc. she could recruit a few minions to assist. just yank em through the portal and use a couple more minions to contain them unce theyre through. it might be possible in an emergency. not ideal for her but im sure she is a quick thinker.

      • I agree but what is more dangerous to the captives: being banged around inside the cube or certain death? As for the question of Flyboy moving the box; take into account how much the glider and all of the equipment aboard weighs. Flyboy might not be able to move the cube alone but working in tandem with Tsunami, who uses water from the river to create a kind of slide with a big hand to push, might be able to slide the whole box to the river. Once firmly on water I’ve no doubt Tsunami could support the box by himself. So, I imagine a team effort. Team work is what made the X-men so great. Why should YP be any different?

    • Adam Black

      “Am I missing something? ”

Yes. They have a massively charged reality warper.

I’d be surprised if PP doesnt trip on her own dress, fall down the stairs, set the place ablaze, and yell a curse while grabbing Duncan that becomes effective magic disrupting the entire scheme.

      • Paul said he couldn’t control specific outcomes but I would pay to see that happen to Platinum Palpatine.

        • Adam Black

Right, but he doesnt have to control outcomes. Just aim that bad luck…

      • You forgot slipping on the banana skin and falling right onto a conveniently placed pitchfork…

        • Adam Black

or back into the portal to hell

    • Samurai Jack

I think you might be missing something. The automatic sacrifice timer in the cage. Just moving the cage won’t prevent the sacrifice from happening at the correct time. There’s no reason to assume that proximity is required for the spell to still be completed. Heck, there’s no guarantee that the orientation of the portal is important. That’s just a convenience for human reference. If the demons have to climb out of the portal instead of walking I”m sure they won’t be inconvenienced much.

I get the feeling Alex isn’t going to use one of the standard tropes so that our heroes end up victorious. Usually in comics the heroes win because the bad guys are arrogant, overconfident or just plan stupid. That’s not the feeling I get (so far) from Priestess Palpatine and the Duncanator.

      • You bring up a good point. I didn’t forget the timer. I didn’t want to spell everything out in great detail. The beauty of a flexible plan as opposed to one with rigid steps is the capacity to adapt quickly to sudden challenges. Need the timer taken out? A lucky break from Paul, Gordon shorts it out, a blast from Kyle, a dragon from Spooky eats it, Mitch touches it and makes it fly apart, or Amanda plucks the code from a minion’s mind and hits the “off” button. What, you’d expect Priestess Palpatine to handle the little stuff?

Getting the cube mobile and away from the ritual site throws the bad guys on the defensive. It takes the fight off their turf where they control the battlefield. It no longer becomes a matter of raw power but one of time. Amanda and YP need to eat up that time and protect the innocents. The current plan, on the surface plays to the advantage of the bad guys’ terms. Not good strategy from my perspective but Amanda has yet to reveal the second part of her plan. She might yet get me to say, ‘A-ha! Brilliant!” In fact, I look forward to it. Bottom line, I love how Alex gives me something interesting to think about, like how I would plan the battle.

        • Samurai Jack

Agreed. In addition to having something interesting to think about, it’s very cool to be able to have this conversation with our fellow readers. It’s a giant internet book club, and it’s a heck of a lot of fun.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Giant internet book club! o/

  • barry allen

Awesome as always… but with all the money you are making off this we comic, shouldn’t you focus on updates that are in color instead of going to con’s??? just saying Alex… we fund this as well as the kickstarter to get the first book printed,

    • Some of this has been grought up before. The $400 only helps to pay the comic. Alex still pays some out of his own pockets (from his main job – this is ‘only’ his side job). Cons are a part of promoting TYP.

Vero is the one who colors the pages, and she had computer issues. That’s why the pencils are up now, and Alex can post the colored page when he wakes up again. Wether Alex is at a con or not that can’t change Vero’s computer issues.

As for the kickstarter. Almost all of the money went to produce the merch and to pay the artists to do all the extra art. He’s even had to hire other artists to do some of it (which I guess you know from the KS update emails). Alex told on a previous time that up from he only made around $3000 in profit out of the $133K. What he’ll make extra from the kickstarter will be from sales of the merch he has in spare from the production of the KS products.

In basics, Alex hardly make any money out of the comic – if any at all in the long run – at this time. It’s his other day time job that pays him. What makes him a living.

Edit: We only help him fund the pages – and that’s on a voluntary basis.

    • Nina Sanchez

Dude, computer issues happen to the best and most planned people. It’s going to be colored, chances are that it’s going to be colored this Saturday, just with a little delay. Going to cons is part of what helps keep this comic existing. Just chill.

    • Klaus

Veronica has had trouble with her internet connection several times now. I am sure she would have changed to a more stable provider if one was available.

    • Adam Black

It’s obviously the work of the Platinum Priestess.

We have gotten closer to her wardings and its interfering with Commanders Telepathic narration.

Its going to take some powerful sex-magic to break through this.
I recommend reading some more Yaoi , and coming back fully charged.

If we all join a circle …..

  • Every time I see detailed panels like .. especially the 3rd.. on this page, I’m equally awed by Adam drawing ALL these tiny little details, amazed by Vero’s skills coloring them and a relief that it’s not me doing any of it!

Love the details but the patience it would take to draw or, maybe even more, coloring them – we wouldn’t even get a page a week if it was me.
I’m happy to just lean back, or forward, and read/study all these gorgeous pages. It’s such a treat 😀

  • I hope they sneak in from the back so that the Duncanator and Priestess Palpatine won’t see them coming. The water then could also be used to wash the villainous duo downstream.

I wonder if the plane has stealth tech. I know it’s pretty silent since it’s Fly Boy flying it, but still some invisibility would be pretty cool yo!

    • Adam Black

      Plussing for “Priestess Palpatine” .

      • I believe that bit of lovely is from Donald Burch.

        • Adam Black

Thief of the ‘Lovely Bits’ , eh?

What else is hidden under that cape?

          • No thievery. Credit given there, bubba. 😛

          • Adam Black

            <<< reaches under magic-cape

            Your Coffee is awesome, thanks.
            ( credit-given there, too )

          • Okie dokie!

          • Adam Black

I give you a free license to use: “Thief of the Lovely Bits’ as a title to your next Homo-Romance .

          • HA! I should do that just because.

          • Adam Black

You have fallen for my Plan!
            Now you cant steal it.

          • Adam Black

i wonder what the titular thief will look like.

          • Some big strong pirate. And one never knows he could be wearing a kilt.

          • zunden

My brain is having trouble with this… I picture a pirate, and that’s cool, but the moment I add a kilt, the pirate is suddenly also holding bagpipes instead of rum or a sword. While these things are by no means bad, it’s very confusing to my brain…

          • Klaus

But you see, he is not paying the royalties on the music he plays on his pipes. That is piracy!

          • Adam Black

Bet he plays lots of lovely pipes

          • zunden

            XD
            That’s great. I love it.

          • Take away his shirt, strap the sword to his hips (or back), and then put him on a pirate ship on the high seas instead of the highlands.

Voilà! You should have a kilted pirate. 😀

Still seeing the bagpipes? That’s okay. I can work with that. Bagpipes were used to scare the enemy in days of yore, right? A highland pirate intent on mischief might be just as likely to take advantage of such a use. 🙂

          • zunden

That sounds like fun. I think all pirates should be highland pirates now! 🙂

          • Indeed! 😀

          • Adam Black

I read your entire comment to the “Theme of Serentity”

            Still seeing the bagpipes?..

            That’s okay….
            I can work with that..

        • Yes, but you added a nice twist with “Priestess Palpatine.” Credit where it is due.

    • Adam Black

well, Wonder Woman is busy, so why not.

    • “The Duncanator.” My dear Admiral, why, I do think you’ve found a worthy nickname to go with “Platinum Palpatine”! Can I have your autograph?

      • Ha! Well if I might have yours, considering I think Platinum Palpatine is genius!

        • Oh, my lady, you’re too kind. I’m embarrassed. I’m blushing!

          • No need for that! Oh screw it, considering that I’m blushing as well.

          • OMG look at us, we’re molting!

          • No wonder my hair has been such a mess lately!

        • Adam Black

I first rewrote it as ‘Palpatine Princess’

      So let’s roll the bones!

    • The results of many late nights and KFC.

  • Why do i always get the feeling somethings going to go horribly wrong when I see a detailed plan like this?

    • Terri Sutton

Because detailed plans are made to fail.

    • See the Helmuth von Moltke quote below and I’ll add:

“The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.”

    • Samurai Jack

Garak, you of all people should know the plan is a lie. 🙂 It’s a skill like any other, and if you want to be good at it you have to practice.

The Commander is distracting her team so that they won’t notice when she telepathically stops the hearts of the sacrifices. They can’t be used in the ritual if they’re already dead. She can then blame it on the Annihilator and no one will be the wiser.

Oh wait… That what she would do if she were Garak. I think we’ll have to take her at her word.

      • D. Garrett

ha that would totally be a fictional garak move! very slick, yet effective. your first sentence sounds like it came out of fictional garaks mouth! but it would be telekinesis and not telepathy. dont know if commander is telekinetic as well. and i thought pp would be blamed for something like that. i dont think heart stopping is in anni’s skill set.

        • Garak said that very line to Worf during a trip in a runabout. “Lying is a skill like any other, and if you want to maintain a level of excellence you have to practice constantly.”

          Worf: “Practice on someone else.”

          • D. Garrett

i didnt realize it was a quote. ty.

          • Astute of you to peg it as a Garak quote from substance of the line alone. That is a gift.

          • D. Garrett

            ty! 8^)

          • Samurai Jack
          • D. Garrett

kewl. both garak and worf are interesting characters. ty for sharing the link!

          • Samurai Jack

Yup. It was such a stunning line that I remembered it. Garak is one of my favorite fictional characters ever.

        • Samurai Jack

Well, it’s not clear if telekinesis is required. Fictionally speaking, that’s one way. People generally think that they can freeze the heart from beating telekinetically. But a little control of the medulla oblongata and a skilled telepath might be able to slow or accelerate the heart rate to the point of failure. And when you can attribute things to magic, you can blame magic users for anything.

          • D. Garrett

good point. the brain does send the signals to the other body parts.

    • Dusty Youngs

Because if a plan the audience has already heard works, it ceases to be a plan, and becomes a spoiler. Therefore, it must fail.

  • Jen Roberts

Commander has a plan for EVERYTHING. Don’t ever doubt it. (nothing saying said plans always work, but SHE HAS THEM)

  • Klaus

Am I the only one who misread Amanda’s words in panel 4 as “neutralize the hostages”?

    • SofiaT

      No, I did too.
Had to read that sentence twice before moving on, what I thought I’d read made no sense.

    • Well, that might be an interesting tactic to confuse PP and Annie…

    • Ronald Brown

Well, if the hostages are important to the ritual, “neutralizing” them would be an effective way to stop it. Probably not the best plan, though. 🙂

  • Oooh, awesome effects! What could they mean? Is this some sort of Ocean’s Eleven montage where the plan is already in motion? Or perhaps this is all inside the team’s head. After all, Commander is a telepath. Talk about an awesome power for making plans without the enemy overhearing.

Unless P.P. is seeing all of this. Perhaps their super secret planning isn’t as secret as they hope. I can’t wait to see where things go. And it is nice to see Tsunami smiling, I guess the prospects of watery mayhem have cheered him up.

    • I agree.. it’s like she’s showing them her plan, even though it’s a great way to do comic without having 1-2 panels and just a monologue.
That we shortly only get the pencilled page, until Alex get the colored up, actually kinda gives an unintentional extra factor of this shortly being in her head 🙂

    • Klaus

I think that she is just talking. The pictures are to spice up a page that would otherwise be all talk.

    • Vile!!! You are back!!! *hugs*

  • I wonder why Amanda puts Kyle’s adorable backside into the center of her mental planning….

    • “Adorable” is what I might call a baby’s butt. Kyle has a “stellar tush” or “manly mounds.” Perhaps “tasty buns.” Take your pick, he’s nummy.

      • D. Garrett

ummm i was just wondering. r u a little horny maybe? *chuckles! C-:<

        • Everybody has a hobby! *cheeky grin*

          • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Try to picture him a few decades hence, when he’s fat, bald, and has piles.

          • Whyever for? I’m having way too much fun!

  • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

They should be aiming for the cauldron of blood. Either overturn it, dilute it with water, set it on fire, or contaminate it with some other bodily substance that might spoil the symbolism.

    • D. Garrett

i said the same thing too! its probably required. but sircea may have it spell protected. we will see.

  • TwilightDreamer

oooo! *bounces* this is exciting!….I’m guessing it won’t all go to plan, but I still can’t wait to see! 😀
OMG! You’re hanging out with Hamlet Machine!? *cries* why can’t I be there!? T_T

  • Toli Bera

We’ll get Spooky and Flyboy to dress in drag and do a bawdy Vaudeville number on the main stage. that should be enough to keep them occupied. followed by a saucy puppet show.

Edit: also; what if the unification of fire and water is what they’re waiting for to complete the ritual?

    • Heh, when I read “dress in drag and do” I was expecting “the hula”…

Thanks to my little brother, I probably saw way too much Lion King. He actually watched the VHS so much he broke the tape. -_-

Simba: Timon, Pumba, you distract the hyenas.
Timon: What, you want us to dress in drag and do the hula?

      • Toli Bera

I started in that direction then zigzagged for this. XD

  • Hmm. Blasting a bunch of fire around as a fiery demon from hell attempts to come through. Great plan! 😀

  • Pikinanou

    She’s got a plan! 😀
So many funny things I could say about this page (Save the minions!) but I’m amazed by the huge water fist. I love Veronica’s coloring but seeing Adam’s art like this is pretty cool. I can’t wait for the finished version 🙂

  • Abbi Orenstein

hrm… the colorless panel disturbs me could the platinum priestess be spying?

  • Howdy everyone,

Vero’s Internet problems continue. I’m not even getting email from her right now. So, I’m afraid you’ll have to suffer with Adam’s gorgeous pencils a bit longer as I need to head to the Con floor to finish setting up.

But hopefully we’ll have beautiful color when I return! Thank you very much for your patience and understanding! 😀

    • Sapfo

      Have fun!

    • Wake up to this amazing page! Hope you all have an amazing time!!! ^^

    • SofiaT

      Gorgeous colors!

    • Abbi Orenstein

      ahhh I see now ^.^

  • davefragments

The color page is stunning. The two imagined battle scenes really stand out on the page. Very nice job.
And I missed the “fist” of water in the pencil drawing. The color enhances it.

Now onto part two of the plan.

  • Sapfo

This is one great page worth all the wait! The fire and the water powers seems so strong. Yeah you better run little minions.
Thank you all three of you!

  • Woooh.. I knew it would be awesome in colors, but you can’t ever fully picture it until you see it.

I thought that water looked like a fist. In colors I can see it much better. That is one knock-out Tsunami could do! I wouldnøt even want to get hit by his normal fist xD

  • TwilightDreamer

wow! the detail of the water in the third panel is so good! 😀

    • Agree! The water & fire are so detailed & understandable it took a bit longer to color 😉

      • TwilightDreamer

        it looks amazing 🙂

  • YG_Frenchie

I can’t wait until Kyle confronts Duncan when they get there. Lovers quarell in the near future? My heart skips more and more with each update from this.

Loving the splash of color on this page too . It’s so beautiful! Well done!

Good job on Kyle’s cute butt as well ;P

    • Jackal

That should be really, really interesting. XD

Kyle: MY INNOCENCE, YOU FUCKER! D<
Duncan: *sigh* It's no less than I deserve, really… Wait, I never think like that! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME, BOY? D<

  • Veronica, don’t sweat connection issues your coloring is worth the wait. Beautiful! Speaking of beautiful, I didn’t catch this with the penciled page but panel five/last panel shows what I consider the best face shot of Kyle yet. He is simply gorgeous in that image and standing next to a massively muscled Gordon to boot. It must be my birthday! Thank you again for another outstanding page.

  • Why do I feel bad that they are trying stopping the ‘bad guys’? 🙁

I don’t know if I want them to fail or not.

    • D. Garrett

that is a valid issue. i am choosing to believe that there is a better solution to the problem of the weakening walls and that spooky is key. but it is blind hope. *sighs.

      • Not necessarily blind. Alex has been dropping hints like anvils from orbit.

        • He has been?

          • Yes, by addressing it consistently in-story. YP talked about it and then Duncan and Sircea talked about it at length as motivation for their disturbing solution. One does not devote so much writing and illustration to a point unless it is a major plot point for the story. Also, the fact that both sides mentioned it indicates that both sides will be required to find a better solution. I say “like anvils from orbit” simply because of how much this issue has been front and center in recent pages.

    • Adam Black

because they are the real Heroes saving the world.

kyle will have to switch sides to live up to the premise of the comic

  • davefragments

I think that the Commander wants Kyle upfront because he will be more of a distraction to Duncan and also be a somewhat expected distraction. Sircea and Duncan might look at him and assume that he’s alone or with one friend. After all, Kyle was the wronged one and is quite possible angry and out of control. At least in Sircea and Duncan’s thoughts.
That delay might give them a tiny but vital advantage.
The sneaky part of the plan is the rest of the Protectors will be acting as a flanking force and a second front in this skirmish.

The best outcome is the gate destroyed, the spell stopped, and the human sacrifices saved without anyone being hurt.

You see, when I did risk analyses for my work, the worst case scenario was the destruction of several buildings in one explosion. The hazard was highly compressed hydrogen gas which is terrifying explosive in the wrong circumstances. You can’t consider the worst circumstance as being possible. If you plan that, you’ve lost. . . So “we” designed everything to prevent that explosive event with multiple levels of safeguards.

So maybe the circular gate disrupts the spell. If it doesn’t then the next tactic is remove the hostages. If that doesn’t work then take out Sircea and Duncan and their minions. Anything that prevents the portal from opening.
Distraction works if Sircea is distracted at a crucial point of the spell.

But I wonder – – what if, what if, what if. . .
what if this is all window dressing and the spell has already been cast and requires one simple gesture or a simple word of phrase from Sircea?

    • I like the way you think. It is possible that Amanda is playing elements she isn’t telling. Example, she is putting Kyle front and center on the scaffolding. Knowing what she does about Kyle and Duncan, she might expect Kyle to hesitate and draw Duncan’s attention. As a telepath she might know her people better than they know themselves. I’ve never seen her in action outside the fire rescue so I don’t know. Considering what is at stake she might be playing to win. As for the ritual being finished save for a gesture I’d take it one step further. What if the ritual is an elaborate ruse?

What if Duncan is the sacrifice? Sircea knows he is powerful and intelligent so she needs to “distract” him until the appointed time. The people, the scaffolding, all of it is for show. She only needs the appointed place, time, and the “branded sacrifice” at hand. I wouldn’t put it past her.

The kids take out the torus(circle of bones) and the scaffolding, so what? They rescue the sacrifices. Aw, do they feel better now? Do they get super hero merit badges? Oh, look, Duncan’s true love takes to the field, this is too rich! Duncan will never see the knife in his back until it is too late and little boy gets to see his lover pay the ultimate price for his foolishness.

      • davefragments

I think like a writer because that’s my retirement hobby.

JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series gives us a clue as to how the Protector’s might feel. In each other the novels there is a point where Harry defeats something evil or escapes. For a while he feels good but then he realizes that there is one more evil to overcome, something more dreadful to follow. It took Harry seven of those events to reach the last half of the last book (Deathly Hallows). I am hoping Alex has something like that in mind.

BTW – that’s called “The Face of Ultimate Horror” in movies.

        • I write for pleasure but aside from good grades in school, writing for newspapers, and a creative writing course under my belt I’ve no formal training. I can read all kinds of telltale hints in Alex’ pages but he is a clever bugger. I can’t read any one thing as most probable and that keeps me intrigued.

  • Wayne Lunkwitz

Gordon? GORDON?!? Tsunami’s actual given name is Gordon? Bwahahaha! Love it!As for the rest of the scenario they better hope Tsunami can move enough water fast enough to control the damage…..Just in case Kyle goes berserk when he sees Duncan and decides to do the job right this time!

    • *lol* Guess you missed it the first time we were told Tsunami’s name 😉

      • Wayne Lunkwitz

        Yes I probably did 😛

        • Klaus

The name was mentioned on each of the pages 39-43.

  • Dusty Youngs

No! Don’t tell us the plan! If the audience knows the plan, it will fail!

    • That has been my thought all along. Show us pages of how they want the fight to play out and when it comes time to put it into motion the bad guys shut it down in two moves. Like I wrote below, “No plan survives contact with the enemy.” The trick of good strategy is to focus on a clear goal and have many ways of achieving this goal. Be ready and flexible, expect sudden challenges and adapt quickly. In this case expect Priestess Palpatine and the Duncanator to fully control their battlefield. So, take the game off their battlefield. Steal the box with the people inside and move it to the river. Make the box a moving target and force the bad guys to waste time chasing after it. Two things seal success for YP: time and foiling the ritual. They don’t have to take the bad guys on head to head to succeed.

      • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I agree. Sircea is supposed to be very powerful. I don’t see how they can win if they take her on and Duncan too.
The weak point in their plan seems to be the hostages. Get them away and they won’t have to fight PP and Annihilator at the same time, just keep them distracted.

Fighting that evil duo might be futile, almost certainly without the hostages the ritual can’t go on.

  • D. Garrett

i like the light blue color change of gordons tattoo when he uses his powers.

    • Klaus

It would be somewhat difficult for Gordon to use his powers surreptitiously.

      • D. Garrett

        very true.

  • TheManBehindTheCurtain

The only concern that I have with this plan so far is that Kyle is shooting demon fire near a ring of human (?) bones. A ring of human bones set on fire with demon flame sounds just like the kind of thing needed for this ritual and might be just what PP and Duncan need for the spell.

  • bergulme .

Okay, I have to say panel 3 is drawn and colored very awesome.
And I am very picky about this.

About the plot: Either the “Stargate of Evil” is a decoy or I am getting paranoid.

    • Is it paranoia when it’s true?

      • bergulme .

Oh God… the “big obviously clock of Doom” is also bullshit… isn’t it?

        • Wouldn’t that be the ultimate “gotcha” from Miss Metal Tits? Wait, can I say that here? *Ahem* Sorry. Anyway, I’ve no idea what Alex has in store. I only anticipate that it is going to be a real twist nobody expected. The pressure is on, Mr. Woolfson! I know you can handle it.

    • Terri Sutton

Paranoid? Don’t you mean genre savvy.

    • Saxon_Brenton

For my part I’m still worried that those hostages/sacrifices are actually bait, meant to lure the Protectors into exactly the right place that the Priestess needs them. The Stagate of Evil decoy may or may not tie in with that. (So many ways that a devious supervillain could try to outwit and manipulate the heroes…)

    • Klaus

One does not rule out the other.

  • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Let’s hope our team doesn’t end up inside the box along with the other hostages. If Sircea is so powerful, she may be able to do something like that.

  • Ooooh, pretty colors!

I’m so looking forward to the upcoming battle, even if I’m biting my fingernails and hiding my eyes behind my hands.

  • bronakopdin

I see the action coming 😀
really looking forward to have some action scene again now that we had as much talking though it sure was needed
can’t help but stare at Kyle’s butt… who decided to show him from behind? ^^

and then Tsunami’s pose in panel three somehow made me think “ballerina” for a second xD
But I really like this page! The third panel best! That water fist is amazing and all those details again 🙂
looking forward to Commanders last pieces of the plan 😀

  • Klaus

Kyle heard Duncan’s promise to Laampros. He saw the object Duncan gave him. He would recognize the spherical object seen in the bowl at the lower left of page 67. Why not try to grab that?

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

If Sircea is very powerful, then she’s probably going to do something the moment she sees them. It’s not going to be easy for them to grab or do stuff. There is also the Annihilator to contend with.

There is also a lot of minions, which will probably attack too. Even though they have no superpowers, they will distract the heroes long enough for Sircea and Duncan to do something.

Sircea might have protected the site with magic in anticipation of an attack or to stop any interference. I have a feeling it’s not going to be easy for them.

  • Pikinanou

    Even cooler with colors!

    • Eve

I agree! Kyle and Tsunami’s powers are so striking on the same page.

  • Librarican

Some people have alluded to this, I think, but if I was the Commander, I would be keeping Kyle far away from the ring. If his powers were what they needed the first time, then they may need his powers again to inact this spell. Similar to the troupe of bloodlines (“my ancestors set this monster free, and now I have to fix it”). Tsunami seems the natural pick to neutralize a threat initiated by fire magic, but it might be a yin/yang situation. Set Kyle and Tsunami to the task of either distracting the minions, snagging the ritualistic elements that seem necessary (someone mentioned the bowl) or helping Flyboy move the box of sacrifices (which I think are a a decoy and they really need a return of Kyle’s powers to activate the spell) and give the job of destroying the ring to Spooky, Amanda, and Fluke.

    • Lindsey Amethyst Hampton

Spooky and Fluke don’t really have powers that are effective against non-living creatures. Amanda definitely doesn’t. Fluke could definitely help, but he could do that with whatever Amanda’s got planned for him. It’d be best to keep Kyle away from the ring, but his powers are best for actually weakening the structure, and Tsunami’s can not only put out the resultant flames, but apply the concentrated force Kyle’s can’t.

      • Librarican

I was thinking about the active vs. passive powers too, and I see what you mean. But I’m still very worried about Kyle getting too close to the source of the spell considering his previous involvement (granted it was coerced). Having Tsunami involved is much better in my opinion then involving Kyle.

Someone was mentioning that Spooky might have taught Flyboy to fly the plane. If that’s the case, then could Spooky keep it airborn either through proper controls or by summoning a dragon to hold it up and take out the Stargate wannabe while Flyboy could whisk away the hostages. Or vice versa.

I keep thinking Captain Planet. They have fire (Kyle), water (Tsunami), wind (Flyboy?). Heart could be Fluke (karma and all that) or Amanda (she knows what is in everyone’s heart). Little but of a stretch I realize, but the only thing they are really missing is earth.

      • Steven Klimecky

Is a demon a living or a non-living creature? I guess it depends what you mean by alive. Are entities in Hell alive? Are only the entities which are the (if you believe in such things) damned spirits of once-living humans actually “dead”? (Etc.)

        • Lindsey Amethyst Hampton

By “non-living creatures,” I mean “the metal summoning ring and scaffolding.” Because that’s what this phase of the plan targets.

  • fujoshifanatic

Oooh, the middle panel on this page is gorgeous! Commander sounds like she has a solid plan in place so far, although I don’t know about waiting so long to try and save those people, even if they are in a diamond box. What if, once PP and Anni see that their plan is going to hell (not in the way that they want), they grab those people as “leverage” to make their getaway? I guess we’ll just have to see how it all unfolds.

Hope you had a great time at Nijicon, Alex!

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

What makes you think that they are going to try and get away? Isn’t Sircea supposed to be very powerful?

      • Lindsey Amethyst Hampton

She is. And she’d be ANGRY and wanting to salvage the ritual, if at all possible, so it makes a lot more sense that she’d try and attack the group. Duncan’s a wildcard: He could freeze, fight, turn on Sircea, try to use the hostages to get the group to back off, try emotionally manipulating Kyle into backing down, try using his time with Kyle to manipulate the REST of the group into mistrusting Kyle, a lot of stuff. I think Duncan’s gonna be the lynchpin of this encounter.

        • Steven Klimecky

After what he did to Kyle in the manner he did it, I don’t think Kyle is in any mood or condition to even put himself in a position of being emotionally manipulated again. And after what he did, there’s nothing that I can think of that Duncan could say that would somehow easily and quickly make up for his previous actions enough to dissuade or influence Kyle – he was fucked over and used in one of the worst possible ways, and left there – used, naked, humiliated, devastated and alone. What could he say now after doing something like that that could make Kyle pause and want to re-think blasting his lying, using, manipulative ass to a crisp?

          • Lindsey Amethyst Hampton

There is seriously all kinds of emotional manipulation. Duncan doesn’t have to convince Kyle to trust him again. He just has to convince Kyle to doubt HIMSELF, and he’s got a LOT of emotional weaponry to do it with.

    • Thank you, fujoshifanatic! I had a very good time here. So nice to meet so many of our cool readers. 🙂

  • AseretZone

Wow, this is what I get for being so busy. ^^; I nearly missed all the action! Well, I’m here now. Sorry I was gone so long, everyone. 🙂 I was doing WIC and planning appointments and stuff to prepare for my baby that will be born in June. 🙂 We’ve got a long eight months of planning and appointments!

Now, about the page. I LOVE the fire and water visual, very nifty. And I think Gordan also likes that he’s not standing on the sidelines just as much as the others, his papa bear-ness is just getting in the way of showing it. Lookit that smile. 🙂

I wonder how those people are going to be killed? I don’t see anything to crush them, is it going to zap them to death?

    • SofiaT

      Congrats on the happy news!
Best wishes to you and the baby xx

      • AseretZone

Thank you, we’re all (my husband, my family and I) very excited about the news. XD My sisters said they wouldn’t know what to do with me being pregnant before it happened, but now they’re gushing and calling it “Niephew” until they know the gender. XD

    • stickfigurefairytales

Welcome back, and best of luck with the baby preparations!

      • AseretZone

Thank you! ^^ Hopefully I won’t be so distracted that I miss the action in-progress!

        • stickfigurefairytales

Well, we certainly won’t blame you if you are.

          • AseretZone

🙂 The baby’s born in June, so much prep and planning and waiting!

    • Congratulations on the upcoming baby, AseretZone! 🙂

      • AseretZone

        Thank you. ^^ I’m so excited~!

    • Congratulations!!!

  • Shinashi

I wanna give that water fist a fist pump.

  • stickfigurefairytales

Your daggers are no match for our FIRE and GIANT WATER FIST!

    • Terri Sutton

Or for when we combine them into a mighty STEAM FIST!

      • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

In the Miracle of Sankasya, the Buddha shot fire from his shoulders and water from his ankles. The miracle was not so much that he displayed these siddhis, but that he could do both at the same time.

  • Thanatopia

NOOOO! WHY DID YOU EXPLAIN YOUR PLAN WHEN THE AUDIENCE CAN HEAR? YOU MIGHT AS WELL SAY “WHAT’S THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN”!

  • Steven Klimecky

That was a smile? (Tsunami in last panel.) Kinda cool, though, that when he uses his powers his tattooing “glows” blue. I guess that’s one reason he goes around shirtless (aside from showin’ off his buffness) – so everyone can be sure to notice when his powers are “on”.

  • smileychocopie

No plan survives first contact with the enemy.

  • No Mitch on this page 🙁 But it looks a lot nicer with a bigger screen. ^_^ Though I do admit to liking all the smirking Spooky.

    • davefragments

      hey, you’re back. YAY!
      Good to see you.

      • Thanks! ^_^ A very generous JesBelle sent me a laptop to use until my pc is up and running again. ^_^

        • davefragments

good thoughts and wishes to JesBelle. I hope your PC gets better.

    • Saxon_Brenton

Oh heck, like Syeven said: just seeing Tsunami smiling is nice.

    • Steven Klimecky

I’m with you – Mitch is so adorable that he’s easily missed when not shown. Though I think Kyle is pretty-darn equal in cuteness – even their hair drives me wild. But that means if they ever become a pair, I’d probably expire from such a lethal dose of combined adorability. Maybe that will be an additional power – what could be called a superhero example of an “emergent property” – they’ll be able to knock people unconscious just from their combined cuteness when they break into a sudden snuggle and/or make-out session together in front of an enemy. The “awwww” factor wil be so extreme as to render the enemy helpless.

    • Welcome back!

    • Sapfo

      Hello Doki Dear!

      • Sapfo!!!! *hugs* How have you been?

        • Sapfo

I been doing great. But I have missed you a lot.
          Did you get GG´s gift?

          • Yesterday. ^_^ And it was Starr that mailed mine. ^_^

edit: though I am aware that they were together when getting them.

          • Sapfo

            Goodness Starr! ^_^

  • davefragments

Well, yesterday I was feeling down and late in the afternoon WHAT do I come across – Marcel the Shell with Shoes On #3 – came on the youtube thingie, , ,
He has nothing much to do with Kyle or Duncan or Sircea or Laampros or even Spooky . . .
    But he is cute:

  • Hello Campers! How’s your day been?

    • Saxon_Brenton

Fine. Lovely Wednesday afternoon in Sydney. I’m currently holding out for another hour before I can knock off work and go buy some chocolate.

      • Mmmmm, chocolate. I have a little more chocolate chocolate chip orange ice cream in the freezer I’m gonna have to bust out.

    • davefragments

Rainy and cold around here. Plus, they are making all the Giant Eagle supermarkets look like every other Giant Eagle supermarket and that means that they are rearranging the store.
Don’t they know you never change the color of a methadone clinic? MY GOD PEOPLE, I could navigate that store in the dark without light and still find my groceries now sad exists where mustard once was and candy lives in the toilet paper aisle (think of that trauma) . . . And dog food, well don’t even ask where they shoved dog food but it ain’t with the car food again. Cat food is opposite soups and spices.
      grump, grump, grump, grump!
      and more grump

      • silibub

I feel your pain on this one — there should be a law prohibiting this kind of rearrangement.

        • davefragments

Well as the old story goes – “Old Mother Hubbard’s Cabinet was bare” and you can’t eat without food.
I will survive this “sling and arrow of outrageous fortune”

          • Steven Klimecky

And with a little more Hamlet paraphrasing we could say that you have been GRUMPing and sweating under a weary life.

          • davefragments

            It’s just a grocery.
Now if it were a love affair then it would be Shakesprarean

      • I’m with Silibub, the pain and annoyance when they change the store. I hate it. So I grump with you.

      • Steven Klimecky

I empathize – we have a chain around here called Meijer where I usually do most of my shopping – and they are doing the same and I’m feeling the same way.

    • It was a very interesting day. I got woken up three hours early to help bring in groceries, ate a little bit of cereal with milk that was not good, showered, dressed, watched Little Shop of Horrors with Rick Moranis, went with grandmother to her rehab class, came home and found an unexpected package waiting for me, opened the package and found that a very kind JesBelle had sent me a laptop to use until my pc is back up and running, have spent most of the day figuring out how to use a Mac and Safari. ^_^ Oh and I made sloppy joe pizzas for dinner.

      • Sapfo

I am so happy for this. You have been missed!

        • More or less than I have missed you? 😛

          • Sapfo

            XD
miss you, miss me, miss us all 😉

          • I missed everyone ^_^ It is so nice to be back.

      • Yay for the kindness of others!! That’s awesome.

      • stickfigurefairytales

I’M SO GLAD TO SEE YOU, DOKI!!!

        • *hugs* It is good to ‘see’ you too!

          • stickfigurefairytales

*hugs* Hee hee, yeah, I keep forgetting that internet doesn’t technically count as “seeing” a person.

      • stickfigurefairytales

I also have to send you your (belated, sorry!) quarter-birthday present!

        • Oh yeah, we did decide on that excuse didn’t we?

          • stickfigurefairytales

Can it be a quarter birthday slash Halloween present?

          • I always thought it would be cool to have a birthday on Halloween. ^_^

          • My friend’s baby has that. We knew there was a good chance he’d come a bit early, and first I joked about how fun it would be if he came on my birthday. Then I realized it might make b-day plannings a bit difficult, so told the ‘stomach’ that if he was to come out early, he should do it on Oct. 31st – since it would still be october, he’d be a scorpio like me, he would show up the day AFTER my birthday.. and Halloween was such a cool date.
            Well.. he listened xD

          • davefragments

Babies just never listen. When they want out, they want OUT!

          • heh, on the other hand, baby me didn’t want to come out at all.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Same with me!

          • davefragments

Mt brother and I were a month premature and (believe this bit or misogynistic crap) The doctors never told her she was having two. They also weren’t going to tell her if one of us died prematurely. How’s that for unkind and ignorant exit jerks!

          • Wow.. jerks indeed! Way to give mommy a shock.

          • davefragments

My Dad always said that after two in the first try they were afraid to try again

          • Oh this baby wanted out, in a damn hurry 😉 .. and what do you mean they don’t listen? My niece was set to be born on May 8th, but I said that it was a funnier date if it was May 5th, so it could be 5/5.
Oki, I was saying it jokingly, but what date do you think she decided she wanted out? Yup, you got it.. and she came with a damn good speed too.
Maybe I should stop giving dates around my pregnant family and friend’s stomachs xD

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Unless they have requests.

          • May 5th is Childrens Day in Japan. ^_^

          • Sapfo

            It is 😀
            Well, what happeness that day?

          • That is really nifty!!!

      • Welcome back, Doki! I’ve missed you. Good on JesBelle for the aid of a laptop! Sloppy Joe pizzas sound nummy.

        • And really simple to make. ^_^ In college I cooked them for a D&D session once and I was told by the DM’s roomie that he liked them despite not liking Sloppy Joes. ^_^

    • stickfigurefairytales

It was very dark and rainy here. Had some complications – I was taking the neighbor’s dog who I frequently get hired to walk out when she suddenly yelped and wouldn’t put any weight on her right rear leg (she just held it up above the ground). I checked her foot to see if she had stepped on something – nope. She could hop a little ways on three legs but kept stopping and seemed to be in pain, so I had to ask a passerby to stay with her while I went and got my car to take her to the vet.

She’s previously had surgery on both her hind legs for torn ACLs, so I was worried that might be the problem. They checked her over at the vet’s and took x-rays of her leg. Somehow (and even the vet was not sure how this worked) when they stretched her leg out to take the x-ray, it seemed to fix whatever was causing her pain and she immediately went back to walking normally! They’re sending the x-rays out to be analyzed, though, so we’ll see if there’s anything that might show the cause of what was hurting her.

A very bizarre experience, but I’m glad that she seems to be feeling better!

      • Poor pooch. Sounds like maybe her knee went out. I’ve had to bend my boy’s leg up to put it back into place and then he’s fine.
But glad to hear she’s fine.

      • Happened to my old cat a couple of times. His knee joint kinda popped out, and he was fine once the vet got it stretched and clicked back in.
Poor doggy. Hurts bt good it was an ‘easy’ fix.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Also, where are my manners? How was your day, dear Admiral?

      • Good parts and frustrating parts. But for the most part good. 😀

        • stickfigurefairytales

Glad to hear that the balance is leaning towards good!

    • silibub

Classified. How’s it going with you?

      • And if I persist in digging, you’ll have to kill me. 😛

Enjoying sitting down and relaxing. Too long on my feet it feels like. But I have the yarn to start my SIL’s xmas gift.

    • ‘Allo, Admiral!

  • Sapfo

    Good morning Campers! ^_^

    • Morning Ms Sapfo!

      • Sapfo

I have succeeded, I have muscle soreness after the workout I did yesterday 😀

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Hey there, Sapfo!

  • Morning all.. the snooze button managed to survive all the time I hit it – which is good since I use my phone as an alrm clock.

… and I see a Doki has joined us again 😀 Many kind wishes to a sweet Jes!

    • Morning Ms Wolf!

    • Sapfo

Morning! Only one LS… how will we surviv? o.O

      • Happy thoughts and some great art 🙂

        • Sapfo

Yes, but I was so tired last night. Bad part about working out, I missed most of the LS D,:

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Hi Danish!

    • *hugs* Hello Danish sweet! And yes, I must think of something really nice to do for JesBelle.

  • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

So, Gordon can control water. But how? Is it magic, like with Tempest? Is he a telekenetic whose power only works with water? Does it work on other beverages? Of course, the human body is 90-something percent water–can he slosh humans around the same way? Can he fly?

    • stickfigurefairytales

My guess is that he can’t fly just because we haven’t seen him fly yet, but that’s admittedly circular reasoning on my part. I just know that if I had powers that included the ability to fly somehow, I would be flying all over the place, all the time.

    • Steven Klimecky

THAT is a very good point/question (concerning humans – and any other living creature on Earth, really – being mostly water and all).

  • Kuca

    /wave

Sorry I haven’t been around in a while, disqus was acting up on me and I couldn’t get it fixed at the time then I ended up getting very busy with some political volunteer work and now a proper job. That’s been good, at least.

So, time to grab food while I wait on this. I don’t know about you guys but, I’m ready to see some action on this.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Welcome back, and congratulations on the job!

      • Kuca

Thank you, glad to get it. Nice and simple, just stocking fruit but, it pays and the people I work with are good.

  • I see the Admiral has 6969 comments.. that’s so double naughty, hur-hur..
*ducks from the tomatoes thrown at the bad comedian*

    • Kuca

That’s hardly that bad, I assure you my mind goes there all the time.

      • I need a periscope to look up into the gutter.

    • davefragments

I had #69 at the meat counter today. No one noticed. I bought smoked turkey and lite turkey.

      • Steven Klimecky

        I like the honey-roasted.

    • HA! I was going to say something myself, but I’m glad it wasn’t me. 😀

    • Terri Sutton

I would hardly refer to 69 as naughty. Dirty, yes.

      • Steven Klimecky

I’d actually say the opposite – more naughty than dirty – dirty would be more along the lines of naked mud wrestling or coating someone in chocolate syrup to lick off. If 69-ing, everything can be neatly taken care of with no muss, no fuss.

  • joshsusser

I’ve been wondering, if Tsunami’s power comes from his magic tattoos, and they need to be uncovered to function (which would explain why he goes shirtless)… Does he have more tattoos that aren’t usually exposed, and would uncovering them give him additional power? Maybe enough to turn the tide in a heated battle…

    • o.O … that’s actually an interesting question *ponders about where there could be hidden tattoos* … xD

      • Terri Sutton

Five letter word, starts with “P”.

        • joshsusser

          pants!

          • Terri Sutton

I was thinking of the body parts that would be revealed if he took off his pants. And immediately went to his “codpiece”.

          • joshsusser

I can’t think of a thing to say that wouldn’t get me in trouble here

          • Terri Sutton

That was me trying to say sorry without saying sorry, because well I’m not sorry.

          • Steven Klimecky

Hmmm – if he was “tumescent”, and thus his tattoo down there got bigger as well, would that increase his power even more? In that case, I wonder which team-mate would be assigned to help with that.

      • Jakk Anthony Guzman

*ponders where there could be hidden tattoos, and what power it would give him*

        • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Nobody just up and gets a full-body tribal tattoo without going through a few Hello Kitties and zombie Marilyns on the ass first.

      • Sapfo

Why do I think this is a good idea for Ogalf 😉

      • M.I.S.S.I.S.S.I.P.P.I….

        • *lol*.. was about to tell you that I thought you were missing an I.S.S there, but can see you edited it 😉

          • Light touch on the keys. ~WHOOPSY!~ Luckily, I type fast…

    • silibub

This is a legitimately interesting question, but unfortunately the first thing I thought of was the team yelling, “Quick, Gordon, take your pants off!”

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Me too! xD

      • Steven Klimecky

Commander: “Mitch – grab and whip off his tights lickety-split!”

        • silibub

Mitch: “What? Why do I have to do it?”

          • Terri Sutton

Mitch: “Ask Fluke! I’m not doing it again!”

    • Steven Klimecky

Now imagining Tsunami gettin nekkid and going full frontal and backside for more power – MORE POWER!

      • Steven Klimecky

“Everyone – – strip me down! I need MORE POWER!”

      • silibub

That might give the villains pause — every second is crucial!

        • Well if he were Celt, that’s how they went into battle. No need to take the time to strip during.

          • silibub

Imagine seeing a line of Celts charging at you like that. Makes me think of that line from Juno: “All I see are pork swords.”

          • Ha! I think that was part of the point. 😀

      • davefragments

        weilding a giant sword.
        (I didn’t say that, did I?)

    • Klaus

He has great power over water, but turning the tide is a bit much to demand.

  • Mir

    What we gonna do?
    CAMP
    When we gonna do it?
WHEN THE NEXT PAGE IS UPLOADED
    Why am I doing it?
SO I HAVE A REASON NOT TO WRITE MY WESTERN CIVILIZATION ESSAY.

    Gahhhh. T_T

    • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

      What’s it about? We’ll help.

      • Mir

Knights during the Medieval period. I have to explain their role(s). Basically got down the whole protecting their Lord, land, and fellow soldiers. I might do another paragraph about religious knights and what they did but I think I might just stop here for the night and work on it tomorrow morning. Too much on my mind.

        • Steven Klimecky

Yeah – you can have a whole section on the grail knights and another on the Knights Templar.

          • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

“The lunatic is all idée fixe, and whatever he comes across confirms his lunacy. You can tell him by the liberties he takes with common sense, by his flashes of inspiration, and by the fact that sooner or later he brings up the Templars.” –Umberto Eco

          • Steven Klimecky

Well, they have been such a fascinating bunch to so many people. So many interesting allegations (which probably were not true), but fun to speculate on, though being burned at the stake is not so much fun to dwell on.

          • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Their role as bankers is especially interesting.

          • Steven Klimecky

Yeah – and when their wealth and power and influence starts rivaling that of the Papacy – well, you (the Papacy) know you gotta put a stop to that then.

          • Steven Klimecky

            Is that from “Foucault’s Pendulum”?

          • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

            It is indeed.

          • Steven Klimecky

“The thinking man’s ‘DaVinci Code’ “, as it is sometimes referred. I tend to agree with that.

          • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

            😀

        • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Militarily, a knight functioned in much the same way as a tank today. Maintaining horses and buying gear was expensive, though. Think about military procurement today, and how (for example) fighter pilots are glorified, but need a huge support team and economic support. Improvements in archery technology (longbows and crossbows) ruined the old hierarchy, since peasants could now down knights. Later eras looked back on the Middle Ages with a certain romanticism, and led to a chivalric revival.

          • Klaus

            There were also pikes.

    • Terri Sutton

      Ahh, Procrastination my old friend.

      • My middle-name.

        • davefragments

          The old college cheer:
          APATHY, APATHY is our cry!
A, P, A, aw the hell with it.

          • Terri Sutton

That sounds like a lot of effort for apathy.

      • Steven Klimecky

Don’t put off until tomorrow … what you can put off indefinitely.

  • stickfigurefairytales

Sadly, I think I’m going to head off to bed. Have a great time camping, everybody!

    • Night stick sweet!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        G’night, Doki!

      • DOKI! *glomp* Glad to see you!

        • *hugs* Good to see you too! ^_^ I am working with an unfamiliar laptop/bowser and it is a Mac. So I am slowly figuring it out. ^_^ I will be over on EMR tomorrow/later today.

    • Terri Sutton

      Good night and sweet dreams.

      • stickfigurefairytales

Good night – you too, Terri!

        • Terri Sutton

After reading that I immediately went to my computer clock to confirm that it wasn’t actually night.

Welcome to the internet Terri *duh*.

    • davefragments

      sleep well

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thank you!

    • Night Stick!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Goodnight, Admiral!

  • silibub

    Have a good rest!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Thanks, sili!

      • silibub

(No idea why that posted separately — I hit “reply”. *shakes fist at Disqus*)

  • Tahir Raines

I have school tomorrow, but I can wait a half an hour more.

    • Tahir Raines

Or I guess “today” is more accurate.

      • DemureDesire

It’s still today until you go to sleep. Well, that’s how it works in my world.

  • *Grrr* Disqus! Stop telling me there’s x-comments above when in fact they’re way below >.<
Disqus has gotten a weird way of telling this lately. What a hunt I sometimes have to find a new comment, because it doesn't always jump to it anymore.

    • silibub

It does that to me, too! It’ll say, “1 new comment above,” and I’ll be like, “IS IT? IS IT REALLY?”

    • Terri Sutton

Or how about when it jumps you to where there is no new comments.

    • I get that as well. Stupid gremlins.

    • I had that problem on my pc before it crashed. There is a simple fix. Before you click on “show new comment” click on “reply” twice (once to open, then again to close) and that should sort out where the comments are.

The problem I am having is that not all the comments are showing up unless I refresh.

      • davefragments

my Macbook does that with too many windows/pages open

  • Page up very soon…

    • Unfortunately I think I need to let this laptop cool down for a bit. I will be back though!

  • Terri Sutton
