Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

The rules of being a good host require that they offer us refreshments!

    • davefragments

Beat me by 2 seconds – congratulations

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thank you! 🙂

    • Congrats! And on such a beautiful page too!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Yay! Thank you!!!

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

      Congrats Stick. 🙂

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thanks, Jakk!

  • davefragments

    Oh MY Stars! That’s gorgeous

  • Ooh dear. Here we go.

  • silibub

    Mitch vision! Yeah!

  • So they can see what Mitch sees when they put their hand on him?? Cool!

    • stickfigurefairytales

Just like a bird! …wait, what?

    • EyeDontNo

Its actually Spooky-vision (the non-South Park kind, no Barbara Streisand here).

    • Phyre Storm

Ooh, another reason to touch Mitch! 😉

No, I’m totally not perving out on a kid half my age. Nope. Not one bit. 😛

  • stickfigurefairytales

I *really* hope the portion of the timer being covered up isn’t a pair of zeroes!

  • stickfigurefairytales

“They might get a bit stabby” = best threat assessment ever

    • Terri Sutton

And then shows us getting stabby with themselves. Adam, Alex and Veronica sure know how to establish a point.

      • stickfigurefairytales

I see what you did there.

  • Wait. Um, Mitch is flying the plane still, yeah? Is this such a good idea?

  • SofiaT

    “It’s a trap!”

    No, actually it’s a timebomb. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWtZ1TqMq4g

    • “Tick…tick…tick!”

      • SofiaT

        Love this song.

  • mogoskier

Guys I’m scared and I don’t know why.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Well, there’s about to be a portal to hell opened and the Earth may be enslaved by demons, plus a whole bunch of innocent people are facing imminent death and our heroes and villains are likely to face off in a battle that could leave any number of them dead. Is that it?

      • mogoskier

No that not it. It feel too easy, too strait-forward. Duncan would figure out that the team would come, he knows if a person/world was in trouble Kyle would help them. There feels like there a trap.

        • Adam Black

Kyles Power opened up a portal to hell before,
the spell might …. I dunno.

maybe once cast , Kyle can be recycled again

  • CH

    Heard at PP headquarters…
“There are downsides to the minion gig.”
    “Such as?”
“They use you for blood sacrifices sometimes.”
    “Good dental though?”
    “Pretty good, yeah.”

  • YangYueLan

Only just a little bit stabby, not much, just a bit. Nothing we cant handle.
Wait! Is that the box Anni was standing by that we could not see through?!?!! I think it was!

    • Previous page showed the revelation of people in the glass box 🙂

      • YangYueLan

Ooooh, how did I miss that?!?!? (It was 2 pages ago, I had to go look)

        • Oh yeah.. that’s what I meant as well xD

  • stickfigurefairytales

When did the minions have time to engrave the stargate’s platform all pretty-like?

    • I think it might be a similar design to the lining on PP’s cape?

      • stickfigurefairytales

That’s what I was thinking! And I imagine that must take a long time to do, too.

        • The top of the previous page said “hours later” so maybe they had enough time.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            “Faster, Carl! Engrave faster!”

        • EyeDontNo

Who said the minions carved anything? PP has hinted that she’s tried this before (didn’t she?) so she may be reusing a ring from a previous ritual. I mean, it does go with her other jewelry.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Good point. She seems like the type to coordinate properly.

          • SofiaT

When you live for so long, protecting he environment is a priority.

            Sircea always recycles.

          • Klaus

From one of the Dune books.

Emperor: where did you get that?
BG member: from a spice smugler
E: there have been no spice smuglers for 3000 years
            B: Waste not, want not

          • silibub

It’s seriously so tedious to engrave a new ring each time you try to link dimensions. Fortunately, even though fashions change, this one’s always a classic.

  • silibub

So the minions are all going to donate blood to that orb in a procession while Duncan reads some kind of incantation — and since it’s the tail end of the ritual there’s no time to contact the military. Time to crash the plane into that magic hula hoop and fuck shit up!

    • I think PP and Anni are reading it together maybe?

      • silibub

You’re right, looks like they’re both yammering about something. Blood rite this, demonic pact that. Blah blah.

      • SofiaT

I think Duncan is reading. If Sircea is chanting too, she’s doing it by heart. Or maybe she’s doing something different…

        • stickfigurefairytales

          She’s freestyling.

          • silibub

            Magical chant rap battle!

    • Terri Sutton

But fucking shit up will make your boo cranky. Wouldn’t it?

      • silibub

        I like her feisty!

  • I have to admit that I like that the YP team have that “ghostly” look on this page as they see what Mitch sees. ^_^

Hmm, on the other page we could only see the hands tied, but in this we see the hands/wrists tied to the feet/ankles of the one guy we have a full view of.

There is a thing on top of the glass box? More or less ominous than the clock? Which does indeed seem to to be a countdown clock because the far left reads 00.

    • stickfigurefairytales

I think that thing is a Very Bad Thing.

    • EyeDontNo

I think the Crystal Box (TM) is actually a Bait Box (patent pending) to lure Red Hot in for his part of the ritual. Nothing like a little Demon Fire to balance the forces between Earth and Hell (or Laampros’ dimension).

      • mogoskier

        Ohhh I like that.

  • Jac

It’s really interesting to me how Flyboy’s head is there too, but he isn’t saying anything. I get the feeling he keeps trying to say something but people talk over him a lot.

    • Heh, what else is new? I am sure that happens to Mitch A LOT.

    • Yea, I think that happens a few times. His head could be there though, because it’s his sights the others are sharing. We see his reactions as he’s focusing on things the others can see though his eagle vision.

  • So that’s why they all reached out to Mitch when he finally saw them (and Commander touched Spooky who as the only one can’t reach). Pretty cool trick there, Amanda, and now they can all see what Mitch sees through her 😀
Given what he can see, I’d be pretty spooked as well.

*Looks closely at count down timer in box* It doesn’t seem like there’s a zero hiding under there, and with all the minions having to get a bit stabby on themself, before it’s done, I guess they have a little time to react still.
That key in the tub needs some blood transfusions xD

    • SofiaT

Less than an hour left for the showdown…

      • Yea. That first number we can’t see might be a ‘3’, so around half an hour until all hell is about to come down on earth.

    • Is that clave’s counterpart???

      • It’s the evil twin about to be activated. If/when it starts glowing there’s one heck of a ‘It’s alive’ pun waiting there 😉

  • silibub

It’s got to be weird for Kyle seeing Duncan again in the company of his team, right in the middle of this ritual. I’m impressed that he’s focused enough to observe the scene and make note of the people in the box and the device on it. It would be interesting to know what he’s thinking now.

    • You wondered about Kyle, I’m wondering about Duncan!

      • silibub

Duncan hasn’t seen them yet, but when he does I’ll be curious about him, too!

        • SofiaT

          Kyle is all about duty.
He’s probably shoved his personal emotions somewhere deep and pretends they’re not there for the time being, so he can focus on saving the day.

That never works for long though.

          • silibub

Good assessment. He’s been pushing a lot of stuff down for a long time, and I think now that he’s allowed himself to let go a little bit (albeit under unfortunate circumstances) it’s going to be tougher than ever to keep things bottled up while he does his job.

  • AND what will happen when Duncan sees Kyle? Will he feel a surge of longing? Try to say something to him? There probably won’t be time for a monologue.

Or will he bend his head down and keep doing what he and PP said they’d do? Will he stand in front of her to fight them off?

Other stuff? So looking forward to this imminent confrontation!

  • Evoru

That is just the SPIFFIEST punch bowl in the history of ever! And look, how considerate, the waiters are filling it up!

    • Phyre Storm

It’s not a party until someone spikes it, though. Or, preferably, several people.

  • Oh hey look, the minions are all wearing Sircea’s seal.

    • SofiaT

She knows how to accessorize her employees in style.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Brand recognition is so important. At least she stopped doing it with actual brands.

      • davefragments

        Tiffany or Cartier?

      • The Minion Union brought suit against her. I think this was cheaper than offering medical insurance.

    • davefragments

Possibly to identify them to the demons so they don’t get tortured?

      • Cattle tags as it were?

        • davefragments

I was thinking amulets but cattle tags is probably closer to the truth.

  • EyeDontNo

Anyone else notice that the flunkies are wearing silver jewelry too? Any bets that when the action starts energy will jump from the ring to the jewelry and remove the stabby people from the battle?

  • davefragments

I think we’re in for a treat next Wednesday.
I don’t know if y’all remember that scene in HP and The Goblet of Fire when they reincarnate Voldemort but that’s what’s about to happen. Or something very similar to it. We can see the “blood” of the minions added, possibly eye of newt and Duncan’s left testicle from earlier (she’s a tough lady, that one), and what if they have a demon trapped on top of the sacrificial lambs in the glass box?

    • Hmmm, but in HPatGoF, it was Bone of thy Father, Blood of thy Enemy, and Flesh of thy servant. In this case it is Blood of thy Servants. Which I am estimating to be about 15-18 at least.

      • davefragments

I think there blood in the big cauldron is supposed to make them safe from being immediately eaten or killed by Lammpros and his demons.

        • Ant-Man

I think it’s to tie-dye those robes a brighter color

          • davefragments

I don’t think that this is the time to stand out of the crowd like a merry barber pole in red and white.

      • EyeDontNo

So in this case it is: ‘Bone’ the Son, Blood of the Stabby Flunkies, and Flesh of the Kidnapped Muggles?

  • Soo.. how far away are those military peole with their bombs, now that they’re needed? They might have to hurry up juust a tiny bit >.>
We could hope that the glass box are fire proof.. though I somehow doubt that. Bombs migt have to wait, even if these people were about to get sacrificed somehow anyway. Still a little back-up wouldn’t hurt.

    • davefragments

      I’m an old Boy Scout.
I think that there is some spell that is already protecting the circle of whatever from bombs and military intrusions.

  • SofiaT

Is this the same silver basin from the Kickstarter poster?
They sure get a lot of use out of it!

    • Terri Sutton

See they’re not totally evil, they reuse and recycle.

    • silibub

Gotta love those multipurpose spell supplies.

      • SofiaT

Silver basins are not a luxury, they’re an investment, when you practice the magical profession.

And Sircea is all about the ROI.

        • Plus, they’re not made like they used to be. This is probably her grandmother’s silver basin.

          • SofiaT

            A family heirloom.
It’s such an important moment in her life, this coming of Laampros, she wanted to have a personal connection to it.

          • Exactly so. It was probably there at erecting of the walls.

          • Adam Black

We just her word, it wasnt her that cracked them

          • That’s why it was her grandmother’s basin.

          • Adam Black

            like a bedpan?

          • SofiaT

*thoughts of the Silver Basin before the coming of Laampros*: “I open at the close”

          • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

            A demonic chamberpot!

          • Adam Black

hmm “coming of Laampros” , sadly reminds me of the TvTropes page.

          • zunden

…..And if Sircea is over 6000 years old, exactly how old would that make her grandmother?

          • Klaus

            Over 6040 years old.

          • zunden

            But…. That’s a boring, pragmatic answer.

What if Sircea’s grandmother is 20,000? Or if she doesn’t have a grandmother, because [insert crazy, awesome back story]?

          • Klaus

Have you read All You Zombies?

For those who have not: imagine a way of changing an adult into a full functional member of the other sex. Advanced medicine in the story, but magic would work as well. Now add time travel. As the character says at the end of the story: I know where I come from. Where do all you zombies come from?

          • Pretty old by my reckoning.

        • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Thaumaturgy is so retro. They’re all Jungians these days.

  • Adam Black

If I understand this page correctly,
We are all seeing Mitch’s eagle-eye vision, and its being shared by the Commander ( who is a telepath )
Unless Mitch has Touch-Telepathy to go with his Touch-PK

    • Yup, Amanda is sharing.

      • Adam Black

        Hmmm, has connotations

    • That would explain why she is glowy in the top portion, but then why would they all reach out to touch Flyboy? Well, at least it seemed like Fluke, Red Hot, and Commander were.

      • Adam Black

Probably in case Mitch drops the plane again.
        insurance.

      • To share the vision. They reached out to touch Mitch and Amanda. Amanda put her hand on Spooky since he couldn’t do it the other way.

      • Adam Black

:Like you wouldnt reach out and grab Flyboy?

( prob so they are attached to him in case he drops the plane )

    • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Or maybe Spooky used magic to make their heads float around in their astral form.

      • Adam Black

        Creepy.

Maybe Spooky take their headsoff for real imn his big betrayal; and this is foreshadowing

  • DC

Another great page brought to us by great team work of Alex, Veronica and Adam showing us the great teamwork of TYP.

  • Night all. Have a great weekend.

  • You can say a lot about Sircei, but she knows how to prepare a special party.

A punch bowl of blood and a box of people to feast on, so snacks is provided, and they’re dressed up all fancy. They’re all ready for the VIP guest to arrive.
What a set-up of a stage for that.

  • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

    It’s a “naked bomb,” Kyle.

  • Flying heads in front of a party – if it wasn’t that sinister, id would remind me of Deee-Lites “Groove is in the Heart”-clip. Amanda’s head, specifically.

  • Adam Black

Whats that , a new Science-fantasy movie with 2 previous Doctors of Who ?

its already got a full audio you say?

its on Kickstarter to go full Video…

  • Klaus

Flunky wannabes. Does that not indicate a lack of drive, of ambition? “I so want to be a flunky.”

    • Terri Sutton

But the Superheroes never go for the Flunkies. Flunky sounds like a safer employment option than Supervillain, a least until you have some work experience under your belt.

      • Klaus

Maybe wannabe is sort of like an intern. Next time a mastermind is looking for flunkies, those guys has something on their resumes, and have a better change of becomming actual flunkies.

        • Terri Sutton

What kind of things would a Flunky/Minion Intern put on their resume to get hired?

          – Completed Questionable Scientific Experimentation 101: Why You Should Conduct Risky Experiments Upon Yourself
          – Fluent in the Daemonic Language on the Third Circle of Hell
          – Bachelor Degree in Minion Management
          – Have memorised the Evil Overlord List

    • HermeticallySealed
  • Sapfo

Why does it always have to be the palm of the hand? Don´t people know how much damage it can do. Or will not the blood coming from somewhere else do? And it looks deep. Really hope they change knifes every time and that they disinfect the area before cutting. Which patches do they put on the wound?
I really do hope they have a doc on call. If they all go to a clinic there are going to be questions. Yup I tell you that, people are going to ask questions.

    • Klaus

In Maya tradition, if you needed extra oomph with a blood sacrifice, you would stab your penis if male, tongue if female. In this picture http://www.boingboing.net/filesroot/ladyxocdetail.jpg lady Xoc is pulling a rope through a wound in her tounge to draw blood. This was a standard procedure. The thorns on the rope seems to be a personal touch, though.

      • eugh. guess that would be the one rare occasion I’d regret having a penis….

    • december

Hopefully they change their garb too…

    • stickfigurefairytales

It looks like the minions each have their own knives, so at least that part’s good. (Haha, I wasn’t paying attention while typing just now and realized I wrote “book” instead of “good.” Books are good, but I’m not sure they’re exactly a synonym.)

      • Sapfo

I did not see that before you said so. Oh that is good. My nurse heart is slowing down now. They are thinking of at least the knife safety. Now where is that doc?

      • No, you got it right. Books = good. 🙂

    • Steven K.

      ALL good points!

  • Saxon_Brenton

Hiya everybody. Just got back from an afternoon of roleplaying, where I got to let my inner 1th Doctor run amok… Ooo. Floating heads. Hey, that looks kinda like the comic book covers they used to have when the Justice League and Justice Society used to have their annual teamups, pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths.

  • Sapfo

    I almost forgot!
Today is the Cinnamon Bun Day in Sweden. So now you know what to eat today.
Have a happy cinnamon bun day all of you! ^_^

    • davefragments

In the USA it’s also National Vodka Day and National Taco Day.

and cinnamon buns – – mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
That makes it a three course food day.

      • Sapfo

I think I stick to Cinnamon buns 😉
But a taco would be great also

        • Klaus

Yes, they tend to be sticky.

  • fujoshifanatic

What a cool way of depicting Commander’s ability to transmit and share “visions” with the other team members! Sircea will need a lot of minions to fill that honking chalice. I’m feeling that the timer thingy in the glass box is a kind of paranormal transmitter or dispersal unit of some kind, like a conduit through which hell-born phantasms can enter–and feed. *shivers* Hopefully we won’t get to find out.

    • Klaus

We will. Chekhov’s timer thingy, you know.

  • Nate

Once again, the facial expressions astound me, especially in the top panel. You can tell exactly what degree of shock vs determination each hero has.

  • TwilightDreamer

I find this page quite unique in it’s layout, but it somehow really delivers the seriousness they all feel about the situation.
To answer Kyle’s question…it LOOKS like a bomb, but that wouldn’t really make sense I suppose :s…..curious to find out the answer 🙂

  • Pikinanou

I can just imagine PP’s fanclub organizing a meeting over Facebook.
“X place, X time, bring your tools and your black robes.”

    • Kit the Coyote

Norm: Ah I don’t remember the Facebook message saying anything about cutting yourself.
Al: Nothing to worry about Norm, its easy just don’t cut the abductor pollicis brevis or flexor policis brevis and you’ll be just fine.
      Norm: That’s a relief…what?

      • Dennis Grace

Al: Shallow cuts, Norm. Shallow cuts. Just deep enough to bleed.

        • Klaus

Norm: I know the add said that we would get a cut, but …

          • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Can’t we use syringes like all the other cults?

    • Acintyabedhabedhadasa
      • stickfigurefairytales

So that’s where they’re getting them!

    • Jackal

“Guys, guys! If we go, MAYBE SHE’LL TOUCH US!’ 😀

      • silibub

“Once, she made eye contact with me! Sort of. She was looking at something behind me and I think she registered my existence as an obstacle in her vision! BEST. MOMENT. OF MY LIFE.”

        • Jackal

Pretty much exactly this, yes. XD

  • Klaus

I hope that they have the military standing by, waiting for the location to be pinpointed. That they are not just now going to convince them to step in. Not that I am in doubt that there is not time enough to wait for the military even so.

  • This page is such a pleasure in it’s ability to evoke the classic style of this type of comic and, at the same time, lose none of it’s appeal and beauty in the art.

I’m no expert, but I suspect the work that went into this page’s composition and artwork and the information that’s shared in the dialog was equal to the work that went into our recent double page spread of Sircea’s history.

It’s an amazing page. In that there is so very much ON it and yet it’s clear and fascinating. Nicely done. The page also does a beautiful job of ramping up our anticipation… as if it needed any further ramping up. Heh.

I’m sure someone somewhere already said this, so apologies since I missed it… but is it possible that our fish tank full of victims are really just hostages. Hostages to prevent the government/military and/or TYP from swooping in and dusting our villains from a distance?

If the device with the clock is a bomb controlled (in some deadman’s switch fashion) by Duncan and/or Sircea, than that would definitely complicate any attempt at attack since civilians would be in jeopardy.

Just a thought since I can’t quite imagine needing deaths to open the gate. Duncan already used Kyle to get through to give Laampross half the key. So it seems they only need the other key to open things up… however the crying crowd CAN insure Duncan and Sircea have the time to activate things… Just a thought.

Does it make anyone else nervous that the bird bath of blood reminds us of the print with Kyle in it, in the Yaoi911 store? Trap?

I’m sure it’s coming (in a big way probably), but I’m dying to know how Kyle is feeling about “life” at this moment.

It was only yesterday that he had his hell-date. Some of us would be a bit raggedy if we were him. PTSD anyone? He’s been awfully serene since his chat with Spooky at the warehouse. The anticipation is killing me. 🙂 Yes, I’m a big marshmallow when it come to Kyle. 😛

Thank you Veronica, Adam and Alex. (see what I did there with that name reversal!) This is another special and grand page. I’m so ready for the fisticuffs to begin! I want some villain butt to be kicked. 🙂

    • Klaus

Spooky says, back at the love nest, that opening the gate would require a major ritual. This may or may not mean sacrificing lives.

      • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Or ritual group sex. Something transgressive, at any rate.

    • Thank you, Chris! And yes, you’re right, this page was actually a huge amount of work for Adam and Vero and they did truly heroic efforts to make sure it was delivered on time. And I couldn’t be happier with it — they totally nailed the gag I was looking for in the script in a really compelling way. As a writer, I’m continually amazed about how lucky I am to work with them. 🙂

  • bronakopdin

I can’t even say much but I love the cute little flying faces of our heroes 😀
when right now I thought about how Anni and Sircea gathered those gothic folks I thought they might have looked for fans of the Pirates of the Carribean: and asked them to play out the cursed treasure box scene one after another slicing their hands and drop a blooddripping goldcoin… just without goldcoins… it would have blown the budget… and those capes were expensive enough xD

  • There are so many theories and observations I could make…but my only response is ICK!

  • Jackal

I’ve just caught up after a long absence, and Sircea is so my kind of bitch.

(Also, I really can’t tell if this is actually the best plan she can see or if she’s playing Duncan like a fiddle. I lean toward the latter, however. XD)

  • Wayne Lunkwitz

Not ready to say anything yet….just waiting and watching…..

  • GMC

    Fantastic page.

  • Frater Gymnos

That box with the people really tugs at my heart strings. I feel genuinely sorry and afraid for them. What have they done to get themselves into this? And will all of them be rescued alive? None of them?

  • SofiaT

Where do you find minions that have both building and carpentering skills, a fascination with the arcane and no sense of self-preservation?

Is there a union or a guild or something?

    • Tahir Raines

Craigslist under the “Villian looking for minions” section. I go there for all my human sacrificial needs. Saves a fortune on tracking down virgins.

      • Perverzak

Damn! I had no idea! I spent all my advertising budget on posters and commercials, recruitment just hasn’t been the same lately. Thanks for the tip!

        • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

You have to be sure to leave your phone number on little strips at the bottom that people can tear off.

          • Perverzak

See this is just the thing! They really should put all of this in the beginners booklets!

      • purplefoxglove

I have learned that cookies usually do the trick.

    • Make certain that if you go through a Minion Guild to make certain their license for minioning is up to date. The regulations regarding proper minion comportment and protocol are always in flux.

      • SofiaT

        That’s what I was thinking.
Also, their life insurance fees must be a bitch.

        • That’s why it’s also best to go with a Guild Minion over a Union Minion. Guild Minions have a higher survival rate and they’re healthier because the Minion Guild takes care of their own, in house doctors and such.

Edit: Although I could have that backwards. 😛

    • Evoru

I would guess standing around just outside of your local Lowe’s or Home Depot.

    • mogoskier

      Any college theater department

      • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

I was going to guess Witchvox or Craigslist.

    • Terri Sutton

People with a Bachelor of Arts Degree?

  • Perverzak

Love the page and how much it tells!! The plot is gaining some serious momentum!

  • Adam Irving

Absolutely love the arrangement on this page. Very creative, especially the non-“standard” arrangement and shape of the panels. Just watched a documentary on comics, and they give a nod to artists and writers like yourselves that are breaking new ground by your work. I take my hat (fedora) off to you. Interesting hero-as-voyeur set up too!

  • Klaus

Spooky agrees that all that who use magic are crazy. Even those who have learned only after his return to earth six years ago, if any. His own extemption can not simply be that he learned after the event that made the existing sorcerors crazy, then. What keeps Spooky sane?

    • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

Perhaps because he was off-world (in hell) during the Grey Working.

      • Klaus

I find that unlikely. If the curse was a one time thing, affecting all magicians on earth at the time of casting, those who learned magic later would not be affected. It seems that it affects anyone, or anyone on earth, who has cast magic since then. But not Spooky.

        • Maybe Spooky has spent so much time in real hell. and seen all things screwed up, that things that would make most insane is something he has under control now. Where most powerfull magic-doers often are alone, Spooky has the group + he has a focus (demon hunting and saving people) besides the magic. It keeps him grounded.

          • Jac

And a psychic girlfriend. She probably helps.

        • Jac

Maybe he made a deal with a demon or two…

    • mogoskier

Maybe it has to do with the source of his magic. PP said after the grey working she lost much of her powers. Maybe the earth source of magic is tainted but Spooky source is from hell.

  • Dakejev

If they need to fill that big bowl with blood, they’re doing it wrong. You want to be opening jugulars for that big a volume, even with that many minions. It’s not easy to get a lot of blood out of a human body with nothing but a knife (even if Duncan can hold full-grown adults upside down over the bowl).

  • Amberella

I’m torn. Of course it seems like a good idea for our spunky heros to swoop in and ‘save the day’ but if what PP says is true (mind you… thats one hell of an if) then them saving the day is actually the worst possible idea!! If it means damning us all in the short term to save us all in the long term…. I JUST DONT KNOW!! Curse you PP, I so hate to love you but I do. You are brilliant!

  • Thanatopia

Well dayum! There are so many variables in play it’s hard to know what’s what! Not exactly the straightforward “good guys vs. bad guys” thing… This could get very messy very fast!

  • SofiaT

Has anyone else noticed that the pattern of the “(super)vision” here looks like a keyhole? Or is it just my over-active imagination?

    • It does look like a key hole, now that yoy say it. Fitting that the panels match the theme 🙂

    • Terri Sutton

And still no giant key. *sadface*

    • Klaus

No and no. I didn’t anyway. But of course you are right.

    • Huh! Well look that that it does.

    • silibub

Wow, good eye! I didn’t notice, but it totally does.

  • Sterling Ericsson

What, you don’t know what a bomb looks like? It has a timer and everything.

    • Terri Sutton

It looks like a TV with a giant clock attached to it. Which is nice they gave those people something to take their mind of their capture.

      • I have no idea who you people are and I love you both.

    • Dave Nguyen

It’s clearly a confetti machine set to go off at midnight to celebrate new years!

  • Derkins

The layout of this page is so unique and interesting. And flyboy has some awesome powers! I can see him becoming a really big asset to a super hero team when he’s older. I mean, more than he is now, obviously.

  • Artemis

Is she mentally connecting Flyboy’s vision with the entire team?

  • Terri Sutton

I’m going to take a stab in the dark and guess that it is too early to start camping.

  • stickfigurefairytales

Hello! I’m going to be in and out for a bit, although I probably won’t be able to stay until the new page is up unless we get an early one. How is everybody?

    • Doing pretty good. Finished cooking dinner. How are you?

      • stickfigurefairytales

I’m doing all right. A little bit tired, though. My mom had her hip replacement surgery last week (as I think I mentioned), and she’s at home now, but my dad went out of town yesterday so it’s just me taking care of her at the moment. She’s making a lot of progress, though, which is great.

        • That is good news. Big hugs. It sounds a bit like a marathon.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Yeah, especially since she is going to have to have her knee replaced (on the other leg!) not long after she’s all recovered from this.

          • Oy! Well definite hugs.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Thank you, Admiral!

        • davefragments

Good to hear she is making progress.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Thank you!

    • Pashira83

Doki currently doesn’t have a working computer, so she will not be around for awhile.

      • stickfigurefairytales

Oh, poor Doki! Thanks for letting me know.

  • Acintyabedhabedhadasa

It’s a timer for a giant microwave. It dings when the sacrifice is ready.

    • Terri Sutton

Is the sacrifice a turkey or glazed ham?

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Ooh, or pumpkin pie?!

        • Terri Sutton

I have to question myself on why when connecting sacrifice to food I automatically went with American Thanksgiving.

  • davefragments

I just got settled and loaded TYP when 7 emails arrived.
I’m going to ignore them until tomorrow.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      I like your style.

      • davefragments

I learned a long time ago. I have one friend who unloads email like this – – five to ten at a time. He can wait.

        • Terri Sutton

That friend of yours spams you with funny cat pictures, don’t they?

          • davefragments

no, he talks about his sexual escapades. Kitty Cats and cute dogs I can stand but that is just boring.

          • Terri Sutton

If he sends you half a dozen emails about different sexual experiences I would call bullshit.

          • davefragments

Some are political. Some are silly jokes. Some are travelogues to parts of the USA he’s in. If I try to talk like this, he usually ends it with something about sex or a political insult.

          • Steven K.

I know how that feels – Personally, I’d rather not have to hear such things.

          • silibub

It’s like listening to someone talk about everything they drank when they went out. So tedious, and rarely with any truly good blackmail material mixed in.

          • davefragments

Sometimes, most times I should say, I want a plain conversation about nothing much.
He doesn’t know the art of conversation and he;s too old to learn.

    • silibub

That’s my policy with most forms of communication.

      • davefragments

The last three years before I retired, I was lead auditor. I used to schedule 200 audits every six months by email and electronic calendar. I learned how to prioritize email. Now I don’t need to do that. I can wait and relax.

        • silibub

Holy…I would have just frothed at the mouth and died. I bet you’re embracing this change of pace!

          • davefragments

I write my short stories and enjoy the peace and quiet. Me and the deer and the squirrels share my yard. Actually, I think they tolerate me.

          • silibub

Sounds excellent! (Deer and squirrels are uppity, so I wouldn’t worry about their opinion of you, LOL.)

        • Steven K.

Interesting. My late father was the internal auditor or “chief of internal audit” for the capital city of Michigan for a great many years before he retired. Before that, he was in the finance dept at the now defunct Oldsmobile.

          • davefragments

I did it as a type of Engineering. The group of us could figure out how to satisfy the bureaucratic requirements and get the research done better and faster, so we set about teaching everyone else in the guise of audits and quality management.

  • *Camps* Hello everyone.

    • davefragments

      Hey Danish.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Hi Danish!

    • silibub

Good morning to you! How’s it going?

      • Going oki. Trying to wake up. Had just fallen asleep again when then timer went off. Of course I go lie down early for once, and I wake up before 3am after a few hours anyway xD

    • mogoskier

      Hi!

    • Morning, Ms. Wolf

  • Adam Irving

That bottom middle panel actually reminds me of my leg last night. Pulled out my insulin pump and thought I’d nicked a vein or something. Thankfully, enough pressure and a few tissues later, all was well again.

    • davefragments

      be careful, please.

    • Hope you’re okay.

      • Adam Irving

All is well – a little bit of blood can look like a whole lot when it’s yours. Just hadn’t ever had that happen before, so was momentarily…surprised?

    • Steven K.

Whew! Glad to hear that resolved all right.

    • Glad to hear you’re all right!

  • Sapfo

    Morning Campers!
I hope all of you are healthy again

    • Morning, Ms. Sapfo.

      • Sapfo

        Morning Lady Jane.

    • Adam Irving

A great night to be camping, certainly. What chapter are we in again?

      • Sapfo

Oh Gosh! I have not even got the tea in my body and you ask me to do advanced mathematics….. 3 i think ;D

        • Adam Irving

1 – initial adventure that ends with demon daddy
          2 – rescue
          3 – flight out/argument on airship
          4 – bad guys/gals arguing

Is that it, roughly, minus a prologue and interlude?

Oh, I could really use some tea. What kind’s on tap?

          • Sapfo

No this is still chap 3 (part 2 I think)
If you look at this page adress you see at the end “ch3-page-67/”

          • Adam Irving

Oh. Right. The page address. Yup, needing the tea. Thanks!

          • Sapfo

Just drinking some now. You do the same 🙂

  • Hi everyone! Turning in early tonight as still trying to fight off this nasty cold/flu thing (whatever it is…) but happy camping! 😉

    • silibub

Good night — I hope you feel better soon!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Goodnight, and feel better soon!

    • Sapfo

I was hopping for better news then this. Take care dear.

    • Night, Ms Star. Sleep does a body good.

    • davefragments

I recommend chicken soup and rest. Dr Dave has spoken!
      (PS, I’m not a doctor.)

    • Sorry you’re not feeling well, Starr. Do what doctor dave sez!

  • stickfigurefairytales

I’m going to head off to bed too. Have a good night, everybody!

    • silibub

      ‘Night!

    • davefragments

      good night

    • You all leave us tonight *snif*

    • mogoskier

      Night!

    • Night Sticki!

    • Missed you by 12 minutes! Good night.

  • Damn, missed some of you. How is everyone doing? Sorry I’m late. Haven’t been doing enough writing so spent some time on my WIP.

    • Sapfo

      Hello there Gryphon!
That is good work ethics you got.

      • Not good enough, I’m afraid. I keep running out of steam. Worn out.

        • Sometimes it’s good to take time away.

          • I keep telling myself that 🙂

          • I know, I do that too. Hey, I’ll come back refreshed! More ideas. Yeah, that’s it! 😀

          • Wow! That describes me EXACTLY. So nice to see that I’m not alone.

          • So not alone. I try not to stress about it. Sometimes I’m happy just to get a sentence in. It was something. Of course sometimes I just get in a little editing, read back and fix a few sentences. But sometimes I just let my mind wander over it, let it percolate (shhh, its a good lie!)

    • Heart Burn. But otherwise, good. Can’t wait for the next page!

      • Sapfo

Oh no! Admiral you get here at once and I nurse you back to health.

      • Sorry to hear it. Uncomfortable but I’m really looking forward to the next page too.

        • It happens from time to time.

          Wonder what happens next.

    • Saxon_Brenton

Ah, well, interesting you should ask. I’m fine – but the people on the other side of the workroom running 2 hour reserve are a bit stressed because the miscreant students keep making bookings on the half-dozen-or-so copies of a particular MYOB book needed for a business assignment, and then not bringing those copies back for the next person in line. Over the past three days they’ve had to get on the library’s PA system a few times to call for the books’ return. I went and arranged for a random chocloate Tim-Tam biscuit attack to help everyone deal with the stress.

      • That sounds like a very complicated situation. So much follow up involved!

      • davefragments

        Library spankings.

      • AHEM!!!!! WHUT???? “Tim-Tam biscuit attack”

I’m feeling very stressed suddenly. VERY STRESSED. I think I need Tim Tams right now. I’ll bring random books and hurl them at the return desk if it gets me Tim Tams.

Stressed I tell you. Oh please lob some this direction.

        *chris bows in gratitude*

        Thank you!

  • Lillihandra

Yay! I’m actually up for the new page! Feels like it’s been forever.

Camping time! Who has the marshmallows?

  • *Runs back to camping site* Oh gawd.. I ventured into the dark forest aka. the horrible side of the internet. It was so scary in there with all the ignorants, stupidity and trolls.

    • And where were you at, Danish?

      • I followed links on twitter I shouldn’t have clicked and read hatefull replies on tweets and articles. Icky ick!

    • Sapfo

Do you want warm blanket? Some tea? A hug?

      • *Grabs.. hugs and won’t let go*

        • Sapfo

I know dear! Some comments just makes one feel bad. And sad. But you are safe here.
          *Scratching behind the ear*

Who is a good wolf? You are a good wolf 🙂

          • Awww! Soo cute you two are.

          • Sapfo

            So are you Dear!

          • Mmmm.. feels so safe here in the campfire. I just love a good scratch.

    • Terri Sutton

YouTube comments? Well, we’ve all been there and regretted it.

      • I didn’t venture THAT far in. I might be tired, but even half sleeping I wouldn’t be that silly.

        • Eee Gawd! YouTube comments are bottom of the barrel bad.

          • From some things I’ve seen recently, I think youtube comments is getting competition.

          • Sapfo

there is a dark side to the force

          • D:

          • davefragments

            youtube comments are dumb.
Political comments streams are nasty and vicious.

          • Comments on my local newspaper are really awful. I had to stop reading them because some would make me so angry I would cry.

          • davefragments

Never let a comment do that. It’s one thing to have a spirited discussion but an altogether other matter to insult and hurt people. There’s never a reason for that.

          • True that. I just refused to read the comments altogether.

          • Sapfo

I read some comments the other day on youtube. but for once I did not become mad. It was really funny comments about how hetrosexuella admitted their homosexual crushes. It was fun and not at all aggressive (that bit I read that is)

          • Glad to hear it. I have come across some good comments but they are few and far between.

          • Sapfo

Sadly the same here. But I did think before reading the comments there also. As I said for once it was good. But I did not dare to read to many of them thou

          • Steven K.

That does sound a bit interesting. Seeing that my first true love was a straight guy in high school – who supposedly said he loved me as well – but not quite in all the ways I loved him, including the way he was relating to his gf, for example.

          • Sapfo

Oh I think you missunderstood. It is about straight dudes admitting to liking (crushing) on another dude, and straight girls doing the same. Like the one singel person of the same sex that make them question their own sexualliety. They where really cute about it.

          • Steven K.

Yeah – that’s what I thought 😉 Just made me think that maybe “my” straight dude in high school, if he hadn’t had the gf, might have been able to have some feelings for me.

    • silibub

Tell me you weren’t reading YouTube comments.

    • davefragments

The “dark and horrible side” of the internet?
That could be anything out there.

    • Yahoo articles have some real doozies.

      • Yes, I have experienced this unpleasantness.

        • I had to stop reading them, because for every decent comment there were at least 200 of the stupid and ignorant and over-reactionary. I’m getting flash backs.

          • davefragments

You cannot live your life in anger.

          • Dr. Dave is rocking the good advice today 🙂

          • davefragments

I decided that many years ago, like maybe two or three decades from watching my own family. No one should be able to do crap all over another person and degrade them or simply be nasty. Life’s too short for that.

          • Yes yes it is.

          • Sapfo

that is why I stay away from comments like that. I want to be positiv

          • That’s why I stopped.

          • You and me both, Admiral.

          • Nope. Too many times wanting to go HULK SMASH made me realize I was tormenting myself for no good reason.

          • davefragments

When I start screaming at the talking heads on the all-day news channels on TV, I change the channel or turn it off. I have over 300 CD of music that I love. That’s where I go.

          • That’s a good place to go.

          • davefragments

I have bought season tickets to the Pittsburgh Symphony for 40 years now and they play pieces I don’t like and they play pieces I do. It’s rather fun to listen to the various people at the same concert describe it in different terms than what you think you heard.

          • Like with books and movies. 🙂

          • That’s a very good place. Will try to remember it myself.

          • Steven K.

            Monteverdi is often my comfort-music.

          • davefragments

My first concert was Mahler’s 2nd and I was spoiled for Monteverdi after that. I more like the 20th century than the very classical and baroque.

          • Steven K.

If I’m feeling especially bad, I end up listening to all of the “1610 Vespers” or the whole of Orfeo. However, Mahler is a great favorite of mine as well. Hoping to go see Mahler’s 7th performed next month. His 3rd is scheduled to be performed locally this season as well by the nearby University’s orchestra.

          • davefragments

You’ll enjoy those Mahler symphonies. Mahler does nothing small. I love his song cycle – Das Lied von der Erde. IT is breathtakingly beautiful. and once, I heard Kindertotenlieder I nearly cried in the hall it was so exquisitely beautiful.

          • Steven K.

            I agree!

          • Steven K.

Bit of a fanatic here for Bruckner as well ;).

          • davefragments

I’ve heard a ton of Bruckner. Big, big romantic music. I think it was Mariss Jansons who did all of Bruckner’s big symphonies live. Great listening.

      • Terri Sutton

Yahoo still has articles!? I stopped reading them around 99/00.

  • *peeks out of tent* We get an update tonight?

    • Yup.. and for many wednesdays to come 🙂

      • Yay! I don’t have marshmallows, but I do have chocolates!
(Don’t make fun of my nails)file://localhost/Users/sarahcoggins/Desktop/Photo%20on%2010-8-14%20at%2012.58%20AM.jpg

    • Sapfo

      Maybe! I hope so.
*put out a plate of cookies to lur Alex out*

      • *sets up stick with box over it*

      • Steven K.

And a mug of hot chocolate. (Or a pumpkin spice latte – with whipped cream and nutmeg.)

    with cronuts if that helps

    • Sir Dave NEEDS a new page. Please, do not let Dave suffer needlessly. The rest of us are fine, but Dave… oh Dave… wonders where is the page? I trust the powers of The Young Protectors not to let Dave suffer.

      Because that would be WRONG!

Thank goodness, I’m only quivering with antic….. i….. pation myself. 😀

          • Sapfo

That is true. And as you very well know mr Dangerfield I do toe the line between the good good and the good naughty.

  • So everytime I google this place (cause I always forget to bookmark it) the first thing it tries to pull up is The Young and the Restless. I have never clicked on it. I never will. But every single time Google goes “come on, you know you want to watch an overrated soap opera or whatever the hell it is”
