The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Chapter Three—Page 116

310 Comments on The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Chapter Three—Page 116

Tick, tock…

Y’all continue to be amazing over at the Patreon Page! Since the last update, y’all have blasted past another Milestone Goal (at $6500/month), raising your support by $321/month to $6814/month! That’s less than $200/month away from me being able to make comics for y’all full-time! In just a couple months, we’re 98% of the way there! You all are SUPER-HEROES!

And the $6500/month Milestone Goal unlocked a new variation of the fully-nude, full-color Full-Monty The Annihilator Pin-Up that Rum-Locker painted!

Before sexy Annihilator was over sexy, pure black. But Rum-Locker and I thought it would be extra cool if he added a little background to help fuel your imagination of where you might be encountering our Silver Fox. And now that’s been made and released to $5+ Patrons as a Special Digital Reward!

Here’s a SFW sneak peek:

AMW_Comics-TYP_ETE-PATREON-The_Annihilator_Full-Monty_Pinup_WITH_BACKGROUND_SFW_TEASER

This full-body, fully nude painted version of The Annihilator with background is now posted as a Special Digital Reward under the Creations tab over at my Patreon Page. Whether you want to use it for a wallpaper for your phone, or would prefer instead to print it out and throw darts at it, I’ll tell you one thing: you won’t be disappointed with the art. It was special before. Now it’s even more awesome. 🙂 (And like all my NSFW rewards, it’s only going to be available for 60 days from its initial posting.)

But that’s not all! I’m now going to be sending out high-res JPEGs of BOTH Full Monty The Annihilator Pin-ups to Patrons pledging $10/month or more. Just another way to say “thank you” for the extraordinary support. 🙂 These files have double the resolution of the mobile wallpaper links I already posted for Patrons so you’ll really be able to appreciate the loving detail that Rum-Locker put into every part of this work. In addition to that, because these files don’t have to be iPhone size, you’ll get the full view of the background Rum-Locker created, with nothing cropped out!

Patreon charges cards/PayPal at the end of the month. These high-res, NSFW downloads of Full Monty Annihilator will just be available for Patrons who successfully supported this Patreon at the $10 level or above for the month of March—they won’t be offered next month, no matter what—so please make sure your pledge and payment method are all squared away right now if this sounds like something you’d want. I really don’t want any of you to miss out! (For more information, please check out this post here.)

If you become a Patron now and choose to receive the Special Digital Rewards, you will be able to download wallpaper versions of the Full Monty Annihilator Pin-Ups as well the Sexy Height Chart which shows the male members of the team. You’ll also be able enjoy all the other rewards so far posted, including the “How Spooky Got His Cap” and “What Is It Like To Kiss Spooky?” short stories that folks have liked so much. This is in addition to special back-stage access to script pages, thumbnail pages and penciled pages for all new updates. And, of course, Patrons who chose to get the Special Digital Rewards (which is the vast majority) continue to receive Digital Kickstarter Rewards every Wednesday and get to see special Sneak Previews on Sunday.

Over 900 of you have already become Patrons in the last eight weeks. There are lots of great benefits to being a Patron, and you’d really be helping me out if you became one too. If you’re enjoying our work here and would like to see it continue (and would like to get access to all kinds of special benefits!),

please take a moment to watch the video on my Patreon page and consider becoming a Patron. 🙂

I want to send out my warmest thank yous out to all the new Patrons who have joined in the last few days. As you can see in the comments below, a bunch more folks have had a blue, silver, or gold YP badge added to their Disqus avatars, which means they are a Patron. If you see one of these folks, please join me in extending my thanks for directly supporting the making of this comic! And please also send out a special thanks to those exceptionally generous backers who are on the Leaderboard of Awesome page. You all ROCK!

So! Our heroes are rallying! Tsunami’s got himself a big-ass wave. (Not to mention a nice, little booty.) Kyle is hanging tough against The Platinum Priestess. And Commander is on her way to lay the smackdown against the Once and Future Goddess. Does she stand a chance against her?

Tune in this Saturday to find out! Hope to see you there! 🙂

  • You can do eeet guys!!

    • davefragments

      congrats

    • Oh fine… the Wolf was bad enough… now YOU are collecting virgins. For shame. Ahahahahah… Congrats.

      • I notice you left Sapfo out here 😉

        • True. Couldn’t type fast enough. But you two are incorrigible.

          • And we like it!

          • Too true!

          • Sapfo

            Very True!

          • Sapfo

Oh btw Chris! Wolf have been giving me elfboys all week long. Making me a happy strawberry 😀

          • WHERE is she getting elfboys?

          • Sapfo

I think she been hording them for some time. But I was having a fit of lazieness and a craving for elfboys, and then she gave them to me 😀

          • She’s a giver, she is!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Nice job, AJ!

    • And you did it 🙂

    • Sapfo

      *pock….pock…. pock*
hmmm, I think this virgin might not last on a ship. I have a soft pillow here if you like it.

  • I can’t look! Bad. Powers are about to go ‘bzzzz’ *poof*

  • Sapfo

There is no place like home >_<
    *Click* Click*

  • EldrinSMP

Wait… What is the orb he’s getting out of that. I don’t remember seeing an orb when the neutralizer was first used.

    • davefragments

Yes, it’s the only other orb.

    • Keneu

There was a red orb on top of a pyramid thing and it exploded when it broke after Kyle fired the rocket.

  • davefragments

I think I know where that water goes next. It’s a 50% chance of being right.

  • MOAR excitement by the minutes!

  • DC

Go Tsunami! Go Fluke and Amanda, I wouldn’t want to go hand to hand with PP.

  • OMG doth Mr. Alex know how to do the page by page cliff-hanger OR WHAT?

  • stickfigurefairytales

    *worries, worries, worries*

  • Hold on little Kyle (he’s all one handed now… poor little guy). Well sh*t he’s only 18 and she’s 6,000 years-old. What do you want from the cute little spud? LOL.

    • Tyler Griffin

All the resilience, stamina, and ready for another round-ness that 18 year old guys are known for 😉 😛

  • I wonder if water will be a good enough wall to shield off some of that power dampener?
I’m sure Commander knows exactly what it is, so I hope it will help but I kinda doubt it. Also, water won’t hold Anni away.
    Not good, not good.

    • Saxon_Brenton

The last time one of those was deployed, it put up what seemed to me to by a protective forcefield (I mean, the pyramidal glow could have been simply a visual side effect of it dampening superpowers, but I kind of doubt it). But even if it was a forcefield, it wans’t omnipotent – it didn’t stop a blast from a moderately powered shoulder mounted missile.

So the obvious question is: will the (probably inevitable) forcefield that this dampener erects as it activates be rated strongly enough to withstand the force of all of that water crashing down on top of it, regardless of whether or not the water is being controlled by tsunmai or is simply falling because of gravity? And even if it survives the kinetic force, is the forcefield waterproof?

      • So, like the Richter scale does for earth quakes, is there a rating for force fields? My geek clearance doesn’t go high enough to know this….

        • Saxon_Brenton

I was thinking more along the lines of the way military hardware is built to be more robust to survive combat conditions, including radiation hardening against electro-magnetic attacks from nuclear explosions.

        • Dakejev

Depends on the universe, but yes, there’s generally some sort of rating. If only “the spaceship with more powerful reactors/energy output/built for defence/[your choice modifier goes here] has better (more durable anyway) forcefield”. Also depends on what you’re throwing at it, and what kind of force field it is.

If we’re talking about telekinetic stuff, then all bets are off.

  • stickfigurefairytales

PP has no cape at all left now.

    • Keneu

She is quite angry about that.

      • I’d have guessed the reason to be more on the roasted backside 😉
AJ better watch her cape or it might go missing.

        • My cape, no one better touch my cape!

        • Keneu

I thought her pride might be more hurt than her backside since she has her magic to heal herself – is not always a 18 yo roasts a mighty 6000 yo former goddess. xDD

          • Tyler Griffin

            oooooo PP got BURRRRRRRNED!
            Wait. Literally!.

      • Ha!

    • Forcible fashion adjustments are not approved! Nothing good will come of this. Oh my.

  • That is indeed one big ass wave and one cute butt.

    • Adam and Vero give cute super butt!!!

      • Yes, yes they do!

      • Dakejev

        That sounds so wrong… XD

        • Agreed… so just imagine it for the artistic compliment that it sounded like in my head and we’ll all “move alone here… nothing to see… lol”

  • Saxon_Brenton

[mischeivous mode] So, in the next panel the dampener activates, the powers of all the team turn off, but the wall of water created by Tsunami simply falls on top of Annihilator – and by default the dampener, which gets wrecked or at least shorts out. Everybody’s powers turn back on. Commander closes on the Platinum Priestess, making the quip: “Close, but no cigar”.
One thing that I missed in the artwork but was informed of by the script emailed out to patreon supporters, is that Commander has picked up some knives from the minions – so as she closes on the Priestess, the Commander gets stabby.

Unless the half second or so of not having those pesky kids fighting her is enough time for the Priestess to activate the gate and summon Laampros to the earthly plane. 🙁

    • I like this Saxon-Stabbity-Brenton… nice knife prognostication. Moar please. 🙂

      • Saxon_Brenton

Honestly, I consider the Commander-getting-stabby as the most likely thing out of all that prediction. At the very least, it’s something that she is going to be seriously considering trying in an attempt to stop the Priestess.

        • I want Amanda to go all KUNG FU HUSTLE and start using the Buddha’s Palm… Slam bam thank you ma’am…

        • Adam Black

          Knife throwing makes more sense.

          • Stabbity!!! Yessssss…

          • Adam Black

The marines teach all female recruits knife juggling and throwing. Just in-case they have to go under cover in a circus, and catch ivory smugglers.

Because female marines are prime target to recruitment by Charlies Angels. Which I assume exist in this universe as a team .

          • Your mission Adam, should you choose to accept it…
(I’ll bet you’ve got those Farrah Fawcet bangs and everything) Dang.

    • I want to see the device get shorted by the water and then zap Duncan and mess up his hair!! 😀

      • You are nothing if not consistent about a desire for mussed Duncan hair. You go AJ!!!

        • Well that hair can’t always be perfect.

          • So far it can…. darn him.

          • I know, that’s why I suggested the water and electricity.

          • The Admiral is wise in the ways of destruction!

          • I do try!

          • Archidel

Maybe Duncan is a bit like Samson? Mess up his do and POOF, powers be gone.

          • I’d take it!

          • Tyler Griffin

That would be a truly poetic weakness for a gay super.

      • Saxon_Brenton

Someone needs to draw fan art of Duncan having just gotten up in the morning, in a dressing gown and staring in the bathroom mirror, as he has sports the worst case of bed hair ever, and reaching for an industrial tub of hair cream.

        • Yes! Someone draw this now!! And then draw Spooky in a toga. 😀

          • Tyler Griffin

A short toga? with the clasp coming undone? 😀 ? Please?

          • Short toga, long toga, barely held on toga. It doesn’t matter so long as Spooky is wearing (not not wearing as the case may be) a toga of some sort.

    • Fabulous Alien

The knives are barely visible, but only if you are looking for them. And I like the idea of a stabby Commander.

      • MEeeeeeeeee Toooooooo….

      • Dakejev

…now her nickname will forever be Commander Stabby.

    • timemonkey

Even if he gets summoned they can still stab the bitch.

  • Adam Black

Fluke making power-dampener go explodey makes sense right now

  • syllibub

Not even a blast of fire can tame that mane — I love it! She thoroughly rocks the scorched look.

The action must be really fast on this page, since the dampener’s antenna hasn’t even gone up yet. Fluke’s looking mighty distracted in the last panel, which either means they’re in trouble or the dampener is about to unexpectedly “malfunction.”

    • 6,000 years means never having to say, “It’s a bad hair day.”

    • I wonder what shampoo she uses to get that kind of luster and strength.

  • That really is one helluva big wave. Making Tsu angry enough for his tattoos to go almost white = a wave worth his namesake.
Maybe it would be better to just flush Anni and that dampener away rather than encasing him. Wouldn’t it be better to have that thing far, far away?

    • I just wanna see it short out!
      Edit: zzzzzzzzzzttttttttt……

    • Tyler Griffin

And somethings which should not have been forgotten, were lost.
History became Legend, Legend became Myth.
And for 2 and and a hald THOUSAND pages,
The Dampener passed out of all knowledge until,
When chance came, it ensared a New Hero.

  • Zachary Lucido

Wouldn’t negating their powers make it a simple 4 vs 2 fight?
and Kyle still needs to take over the Earth, so PP must win…

    • Saxon_Brenton

Our best fan guesses are that the red glow around Annihilator is some sort of protection that would let him keep his powers while everyone else lost theirs. If that’s the case, then simple 4 to 2 numerical advantage doesn’t count for much.

    • SleepingDragon

4 unarmed mostly teens against 1 villain whose power is likely not nullified (PP, because it’s magic, and even if it is she may have some alchemy with her, we know the invisi powder worked despite the nullifier), 1 villain who prepared some tech for just such an occasion and whose powers may not be nullified either (Anni, if our guesses as to the purpose of the red glow are correct) and whatever cultists may still be offscreen or will wake up in the meantime…

      • Zachary Lucido

That means that Anni can be nullified again by the magician.
Not that spooky really has much hope vs P.P. And I maintane that Kayle is the one who will get the world outside of the Americas. Also, magic.

  • Alt+F7

Yippee, my birthday page features an epic mash of clashing powers!
Have I mentioned I love the all the magic/fire/water in TYP is drawn and coloured? because I really, really do, it always looks great.

    • Happy Birthday!

      • Alt+F7

        Thank you!

    • Happy birthday, Alt+F7! So happy to have you here. I hope you’re having an amazing birthday! 😀

      • Alt+F7

        Thank you Alex!
A Young Protector’s update is a good way to start it off.

    • SofiaT

      Happy Birthday!

    • Happy Birthday!!

    • purplefoxglove

      Happy birthday! 😀

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Happy birthday!!

    • Happy Birthday!!!

  • $191

    • Klaus

      $166

  • One thing I keep in mind. Regardless of setbacks Amanda’s ultimate goal is on track and so far, successful. Remember? She only wants to delay until the cavalry arrives.

  • Wow, in all seriousness AW, you certainly know how to stretch out the tension. Harsh. Butt so good. This is exciting stuff.

I love that we all ‘think’ that Team Silver has to triumph here for our heroes to come back and save the day in the end. However, thanks to you, that’s all empirical intellectualizing and I can tell that I (and I think others) can’t be quite sure what to expect. Further, even if they must lose here, it’s no less tense. Which is pretty amazing at this point. As I’ve said before, I think this will really read well when I have the physical book. The true meaning of a ‘page turner’.

Panel #1 Love Tsunami’s facial expression. It tells us, without dialog, everything we need to know about his resilience and determination. Particularly nice to start out on this face when the chips are SO down. Spooky is seemingly out. Mitch is seemingly out. Kyle is holding on by a hair and we thought Tsu might be injured. Love the way ‘his’ water frames his face behind him on the ground. That seems so right.

Panel #2 GREAT. Ramping up the pressure as we see that familiar red orb pop out of the top of the dampener, just like in Hong Kong, except now we know what it means. Impending doom.

Panel #3 Full horizontal panel really makes an impact. I love the way the Commander will never give up. She grabs young Paul and yanks him out of his shock. She doesn’t care that Sircea can hear her. She’s still driving her team to any success she can get. THAT IS MILITARY training. Really well set up for us by the bonus comic. I love Amanda at full run (and that minion feebly looking up at her). Paul turning and joining and then, on the far right, a singed and unstoppable Sircea still wielding that blistering white magic. A white that is now fully attached to her character. That is HER magic. Her experience shows because nothing, not a little singing, her cape, etc… will deflect her from her purpose. It’s clear why she’s survived so long. Hard not to admire her intensity and tenacity.

Panel #4 Tsunami has been a bit of a dick lately (on the jet, to Kyle and Paul, etc…) so it’s great to see him here at the moment of crisis pulling his full power together. The body stance is super hero strong. His butt is beyond nom nom nom (thanks for that guys). And that wave is fierce. I hope it falls. I hope it smashes a bunch of bad stuff. He’s worked for that wave and it is awesome. You gotta love him in this panel.

Panel #5 Amanda’s thought bubble to Kyle is so great. A minute ago our little spud was burning down the house, but you can see here he’s struggling. I can’t tell if it’s because his teammates are falling and he’s shocked or if it’s just 6,000 years of evil vs. 18 years of closeted confusion? I mean in some senses how can that be a contest? I think he gets super hero points for holding out this long at all. Still I know I’m not unbiased where Kyle’s involved. So well meaning and so young. I just hold my breath and keep waiting for him to be clobbered……. again. Erg.

And, in the end, Sircea still has that damn orb-key. She’s not really phased. She knows what’s essential. I have the feeling that not much matters to her, as long as she keeps a hold of that key. DAMN!

So exciting. So emotional. Honestly, there is no waiting for Friday/Saturday. So Alex, I think since this excitement and tension is your fault, there should be a special page day tomorrow night. IKR? See, I knew you would appreciate my great ideas (lol). I’ll be here waiting. And thank you Alex, Adam and Vero for the thrilling page. Great stuff.

    • You’re very welcome, Chris. Thank you for another delightful play-by-play of your reactions.

This one was especially fun for me. Very well described. It’s a real treat to get to re-enjoy the page and our characters through your eyes. 🙂 I’m very glad you’re enjoying the ride.

  • Klaus

Kyle, who is the only one who has seen a dampener, has his back to it, as seen on the previous page. Amanda just doesn’t know that a dampaner is starting up.

It would have been much better for Kyle to blast the dampener. Fire is faster than water. Commander would then have to keep PP busy with her mental attacks.

    • Xithyl

This is keeps getting worse for our heroes 🙁

    • She could have been shown pics of it. She’s the one who knew two had been stolen, wasn’t she? Her words, and how she moves into action now with hand-to-hands seems to say that she knows some of what is about to happen with the dampener.

      • Klaus

I do not think so. Her order to contain Duncan indicates that she is not aware that this containment will fail almost instantly. If she had known, she would have ordered Tsunami to smash the sphere that Duncan is handling. Or ordered Kyle to blast it with everything he got, since that would be faster. The latter only if she was confident that she could distract PP momentarily with her mental attack.

  • Stubbylegs

    DAT ASS!

    • SofiaT

That expression is trademarked, I’m afraid.
Only Duncan can claim DAT ASS™

      • Klaus

        Competition is good.

  • Saxon_Brenton

On the way home I was reviewing the page, and like Syllibub I’m wondering what Fluke is looking at in the last panel. Now, he might still be stunned from last page, despite Commander’s attempts to snap him out of it, but it might be that his attention has suddenly been caught be something that’s both interesting and relevant.

Unless Red Hot and the Priestess have been jostling about, looking for an advantage over one another – then to the best that I can figure from the panorama panel on the previous page he’s staring off into the trees. Spooky is more-or-less behind the Priestess, aways off beyond the right edge of the panel. The ruins of the platform, Annihilator and the dampener are immediately behind Red Hot towards the bottom left corner. Tsunmai is off at right angles towards the bottom right corner, summoning water from the river that is roughly behind Commander in the top right corner.

My two facetious guesses are either the arrival of the military (just in time to be used as red shirts when the Laampros turns up and turns them into demon chow), or Flyboy coming low and fast at Mach 2 carry a freaking huge rock.

    • Those are both really fun choices… may one be so, Mr. Brenton. Mitch avec rock is really cool. I think this link gives your described layout a pretty good viewing… in Panel #3:

      http://webcomics.yaoi911.com/typ/ete-ch3-page-115/

    • Klaus

Oh dear. Moving at mach 2 when the dampener goes active. That cannot be healthy.

  • Why is it that I imagine Platinum Palpatine as being voiced by Kate Mulgrew?

    • joshsusser

Because you haven’t imagined her as voiced by Suzie Plakson yet 🙂

      • OOH! Good point! Suzie can so lay down the sarcasm.

    • Oooh, now I must go and re-read all of her scenes. (As for why, are you familiar with an internet critic called SF Debris?)

      • I cannot say I am. What can you tell me about SF Debris?

        • He does reviews of speculative fiction, specializing in sci-fi, including reviews of many an episode of every Star Trek series. As a running joke for the Voyager reviews, Debris created Parody Janeway, who is a megalomaniacal, sadistic tyrant who might be delusional to boot. (She sees spiders on her shoulder that tell her to eat Harry, that kind of thing.) It’s hilarious, and it’s the reason I love the idea of using Kate Mulgrew’s voice for a fabulous lady villain. You can find the guy on Blip, or at sfdebris.com if you’re interested.

          • Thank you, Dame Kellen! I shall look in on SF Debris. Kate Mulgrew with a spider on her shoulder telling her to eat Harry sounds too rich to pass up!

          • I believe it happens in the “Year of Hell” review. 😉

    • Tyler Griffin

I hear Meryl Streep, tbh. Or a 101 Dalmations era Glen Close

      • Heh, I’d like to see Meryl Streep play Platinum Priestess. She would be bitchy and fabulous!

  • Tsunami got back… ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  • purplefoxglove

Say…does Duncan have super awareness and perception to top off his super speed? Somehow, I am imagining him standing next to the dampener, tapping his foot rapidly at super-speed and feeling like it’s taking the dampener forever to activate, especially with the team closing in on him – not to mention a giant wave steered by a very pissed-off and (hopefully only) slightly scorched water-bender…

Oh, and – Tsunami looks decidedly *tasty* with that look of sheer determination and the (water?-) sparkles foaming around his tattoos *drool*

  • Dinosaurs=Rawr

Okay, so half of the comments are about butts; but I would to state that two of the protectors are badly injured. Though fortunately all of the minons have been defeated so Anni and PP are outnumbered, and I REALLY do not want that dampener or whatever to go off…

  • $148 As the rose petals behind Duncan’s NSFW ultra fine self begin to fall gently on the bed and rejoicing doth draw near… (or everyone goes to hell, one or the other)

  • Sanbai

    Lol! “Once and future…!”

  • AseretZone

HOLY! I knew it, that Stargate was a ruse and the real portal was in hiding the whole time! Wake up, Spooky!

  • Kate G

Spooky, calling Spooky. Come in Spooky. We need one of your detonation potions ASAP!!!! Or, I hope Amanda knows his arsenal well enough to find another one.

It’s really nice to have horse riding lessons on Wednesday because I can have my lesson, then read the new YP, comment about the panels….and then grumble or talk excitedly about my lesson. HA HA HA. My horse (Scooby Doo) is really quite stubborn and I’m learning (“learning” I should say) trotting. Problem is, Scooby does. not. want. to. trot. Nick (my coach) literally gave me the most stubborn horse in the stable (yep, I found this out today. The name is very deceiving.) Now, I have a stubborn streak that’s as thick as the Amazon River, but Scooby is testing my patience. He’ll only trot for 1/4-1/2 of the arena for me (and that’s me bullying him.) At least I’ve learned posting for the most part….kind of. Did I mention he likes to make sharp turns to try to throw me off? Stubborn ass horse.

May I have Apollo back now? We had a vibe going.

  • bronakopdin

    I don’t have much to say just…

    GO HEROES!!!!!!!!

(though I know PP is listening to the commands…)

  • timemonkey

I’m actually pretty impressed his fire seems to be blocking her magic, you wouldn’t think it could do that. Unless PP is playing entirely defensive but that would seem out of character at this point.
I’m wondering why ‘trap the Annie in a big ball of water and let Spooky and Kyle take on the PP’ wasn’t plan A, seems like it would have been better overall.

  • Only $65 to go until next milestone (and an extra big moment for alex). Wohoo!

Though I guess some of it this month could be due to the various new $10+ rewards, so pledges might go up and down a bit as patrons adjust them to here at first. I know I upped my pledge for this month´+ possibly the next one too (Yay, tax refund), but I bet that soon it will be past that unceratinty and Alex can settle down with his full focus on comics and writing 😀

  • $30 Oh yes! I will squeee big time (such that ear drums will vibrate) in the morning, but now I need to lay my lazy buttocks down (don’t judge me!), ‘Cause I’m tired. 🙂

    Be well,
    C

    • Klaus

That is what ear drums do best.

    • Saxon_Brenton

[Saxon mischievously wonders if he could mess with peoples’ heads by temporarily dropping his patreon contribution – but then realises that a few tens of dollars is not going to make much difference compared to the rate of new patreon funding that has been seen so far.]

      • Oh gawd.. if so then please do it a day where I DON’T have trouble sleeping xD

I had such a day about a week ago and I spent hours checking in 1-2 times an hour, only to see that number go up and down between $4-13 before next milestone several times. Lasted until those who added his/her pledge of $3-10 was higher than those who edited pledges.

(When it went down/up to $9 left before the next target for the 3rd time I had to stop looking for a couple hours *lol*)

        • LAS VEGAS of Patreon!

        • Saxon_Brenton

You’re stressing over something that’s pretty much a forgone conclusion, Danish. We’ve had this discussion before. Passing $7,000 was something that most of us saw as an inevitability, even if it happened way quicker than many of us hoped/imagined.

          • LOL.. I knoow. It just became one of those situation of me sitting there like one of those kids on a long car ride: Are we there yet? …. *5mins later* Are we there yet?

          • Klaus

I was actually watching as it dropped from 911 to 910 patrons just minutes before Chris posted a happy message that we were now all of 910.

      • Ohhhhhhh… gone to the dark side Saxon Brenton has. Very bad it is…………..

  • Tyler Griffin

Hey, Alex I thought you should know that for the last two days, whenever I click on the “Last” button of the title page, instead of taking me to the most recent page, it plops me somewhere totally random. I dunno it’s the the site or my browser since Firefox pulled some BDSM crap on me and manhandled me into downloading and installing some massive overhaul update. My browser has been buggy since then, so it could be all on my end, but I thought that I’d let you know.

    • KatKaleen

Changing browsers only makes you realise how many passwords you don’t remember. At all. And when you try to restore them, you don’t remember the password for your Spam-Mail-Account. *overacting* CURSES!

    • Is it “totally random” Tyler or does it just bring you to what was the Last page a couple or few updates ago? It could be a browser caching issue where you’d need to clear your cache. What happens when you try in a different, new browser like Chrome?

      • Tyler Griffin

LoL. Weeeeeelllllllll. Ok, so I hadn’t noticed it initially, but now that you mention it, it was less “totally random” and more “Here is Mitch getting blasted by PP again, you need to see that more often” followed by hitting the last button again and getting, “Here is Duncan punching Spooky, you needed more of that too”.” THEN and ONLY THEN will it actually take me to the real last page.

I closed the browser and restarted the computer and after it sat and thought about it’s life for 3 or for minutes at the windows log in screen before coming up, Firefox informed me that it had crash and asked if I wanted to restore my tabs, which I did.

Firefox now appears to be working correctly (so opperator error there), but chrome is trying to get in on the action too. I think I have an update for it as well that I haven’t bothered with since I don’t use chrome unless youtube is made at mozilla, so I can probably adress the chrome issue with that. Thank you for suggesting the obvious, which I had not thought of yet (it was just too obvious, I guess)

  • anonywolf

I’m living without the $10 deliciousness because I suffer from severe brokage…but this page is lovely.

    • KatKaleen

Ha! If I had the money I’d like to spend…
I’d spend a lot of it on online comics. AND making a sequel to Space Rangers.

      • anonywolf

        I’d also make a sequel to Firefly…

And do my own online comics.

        • KatKaleen

Hosting a site is by no means cheap, but you could already do the artwork *wink*

  • Klaus

I thought we would get a mail the moment the milestone was reached, but Pattreon is now showing $7 000

    • Saxon_Brenton

Virtual party time. Break out the champagne (or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice). Oh, this will go over well in today’s camping.

      • purplefoxglove

        Cheers! 😀

    • Klaus

      And the mail has arrived.

  • MickSnyder

    Yay!

  • davefragments

Hopefully, tonight’s new page will be good news, too.

    • Klaus

I am not holding my breath.

  • Klaus

The next milestone coming up is a sexy pinup. We get to vote for characters from any of Alex’ comics. Note that it does not say any characters. That must be a relief for those who made vanity pledges at the Kickstarter. (Or it migtht be a disapointment.)

  • *Shakes pom-poms and throws confetti* $7000 reached.

Congratz, Alex, you’re now making a living out of your comics <3

    • purplefoxglove

*joins Danish with paper streamers and silly hats*

      Bring on the male strippers!

…we’re going to have male strippers for the celebration, right?

    • Thank you so much, Danish! I’m over the moon! 🙂

      • Xithyl

Come back down from the moon and post the next page please! 😉

  • @alexwoolfson:disqus — Thrilled for you to reach this Milestone. No one has worked harder for this, or deserves it more than you. The fact that WE all get MOAR of the TYP world and people we love is just a huge gift of a side-effect. Thanks to you and to all the present and future Patreons. Wonderful news.

    • You’re very kind, Chris! Thank you so much! 😀

  • fujoshifanatic

Yay!!! Congrats Alex! You so deserve to live your dreams, having worked so hard to craft, foster and build them, and then having the courage to share them with others. And it must be especially sweet for you, knowing that this success is a direct reflection of how much your work is enjoyed and supported–and not compromised by any “powers that be” controlling the purse strings. To make a living and have complete creative control over your work; now there’s a dream that is truly worth living.

May your continued success provide you the freedom to create in ways that we can all enjoy, and hopefully bring you satisfaction for many, many years to come. 😀

    • It is definitely very sweet for me. Just like for any creator, I have dark days where I doubt myself, where I wonder if what I’m writing really matters. But to create the stories that I’ve always wanted to tell and to have people not only read them, but want to support me to make more possible. It is living a dream and I’m very grateful to y’all for making that possible. Thank you for your very kind words and your well-wishing. It means a lot. 🙂

  • Saxon_Brenton

I’ve gone and voted, and brought back a whole pile of virtual munchies from the cake stall that the local parents-and-citizens group was running outside the polling station. My contribution to the camping and the partying about reaching $7,000.

I must take my leave, since I have gaming today. I’ll be back in about 8 hours to discuss the next page. Everybody enjoy the camping.

  • KatKaleen

*sigh* I wish I could camp with you, but I’m in Germany, so the update won’t come until 6 a.m. and I do need to sleep. I’m not Deacon.

  • It’s a great day!!!!!!!

  • rgleon9986

Wait, we reached 7000? Doesn’t that mean that Alex is a full time comic book writer now?

    • Indeed… I’m starting my list of stories I need… NOW. LOL.
(as if AW doesn’t have his own back-log… heeeee…)

  • You know… I think that Alex planned this out super carefully such that tonight’s page will (in honor of the milestone) be one where one of Spooky’s bottles explodes and EVERYONE’S clothes disappear!

Good right? Like everyone. So all fans are happy. I apologize in advance to the fans (Doki) of the underage characters because the spell doesn’t effect their under pants… well you know… right?

See? I’m just full of great celebratory ideas. LOL. (^^) (/^^)/

    • Mitch isn’t even currently close enough for said bottle explosion, at least that is what I got from one of Alex’s comments. Kind of why we couldn’t see him in the overhead of the battle. And just to be clear, I am not a fan of naked jail-bait. I can wait until they aren’t jail-bait.

      😛

      • And that’s why I love you… you’re patient and willing to wait for the BEST. However, this is a powerful spell so it still might leave our Mitch feeling better… and yet in his boxers…

Hey it’s my fantasy page, so… why not? LOL. Hang in there Doki. Better days for our Mitch are certainly coming!

    • Fabulous Alien

      I fully support this idea!

  • Adam Black

    @alexwoolfson:disqus ,

    Congratulations,
I dont know anybody else who deserves it more than you.

It seems like a lot of webcomics I read are finishing, or stopping soon.
It looks like you manage to graduate.

( I’m still utterly convinced that swag is the best long-term financing.
What we need is a group effort to get some item: say Spooky hats , popularized. Wouldnt it be cool if one if one of The Avengers wore it? Doctor Strange?

Get some you-tube star to wear one? Even a short-lived national fad would bring your comic massive recognition )

Tell us how you quit your job . Did you have a prepared speech?

    • Thank you so much, Adam!

And heh, no speech necessary. I just will be able to turn down day job work, work on these comics, and still be able to make rent. It’s an awesome feeling. 🙂

      • Adam Black

        Your welcome.

        • Okay awesome… I think Matt Bomer NEEDS a Spooky cap!!! (Honestly, as does most of Hollywood). 🙂

          • Adam Black

Well, we just need an insider to gift it, to some talent.

On behalf of Young Protectors Camp Klatch Crusade,
@chrisdangerfield:disqus , we formally accept your nomination for this position.
            Thank-you for volunteering, and Demon-speed .

          • Don’t I wish. HA! You HAVE seen Mr. Bomer. Yes? Nom nom nom….

          • davefragments

As long as it isn’t Ryan Reynolds or Channing Tatum. Those two I would gag AND kick out of bed.
(and I’m not going to say anything less dignified.
            😉 😉 😉

          • Ha!

          • True… but come on… Channing Tatum, in JUPITER ASCENDING, was reviewed as, “The sparkledog of our prepubescent wet dreams.” It’s hard to ask for more than that……….

            (chris falls off chair laughing)

          • davefragments

One of the critics review the TRANSFORMERS movie this way: The whole thing is an ideological disregard for subtlety, for complete sentences even. The scenes in Texas play like somebody told Steven Tyler to recreate a George Strait video. It’s so idiotic that Mark Wahlberg, who is every bad stereotype about Boston in one person, plays a Texan. It’s so idiotic that even though this is toy robots fighting each other, it’s 12 minutes longer than the theatrical cut of Apocalypse Now.
Now that, as they say, is a review work writing a book about.

          • OMG…….. that is fab. The reviews of JUPITER ASCENDING were just as insanely fab. There is no way the film can live up to the visceral vivisection of those genius reviews.

Although that one of Transformers sounds very worthy. LOL.

          • I don’t know why Marky Mark keeps getting roles. He’s a no-talent tool….. Was that a little harsh. I think I was a little harsh. Sorry….nah, not sorry.

          • davefragments

A critic once called the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto (one of the great concertos) “music that stinks to the ear” . . .

          • I guess it’s all subjective in the end, but I’d still like to see a little less Marky Mark. 🙂

          • Adam Black

Not on my personal casting couch, like you.
Dress him in only a strategically-placed Spooky cap, and Instagram it for us

  • No one really camping tonight? Well if people show up for camping: Happy camping and good hunting! Night and sweet dreams everyone.

    • davefragments

Just made it onto the computer

    • Here but watching baseball anime… 25 episodes in with 3 evenings… *meep* baseball Haru is killing me slowly (it’s even Haru’s voice actor…)

    • Fabulous Alien

Camping + stress baking. I like to multitask…

    • Sleep well!

    • Finally sitting down with the Hobbit. Tomorrow we’ll watch The Desolation of Smaug and then Sunday The Five Armies. Of course we reserve the right to skip Smaug since we haven’t seen the third movie yet.

      Do sleep well. 🙂

  • davefragments

This is good news. I saw the notice earlier and was very happy. It’s a great way to start a business and I hope it produces much more art and graphic novels that can reach out to the public. And better yet, I’m happy for your (Alex) success. Plus I’m happy that he (Alex) is spreading TYP around to various artist so they get better exposure.
Added: remember, I’m a very practical person.

    • Well considering there are more sub & side stories in the TYP world than we can imagine… I’m glad that Alex is getting a handle on who can help him deliver different types of work for different stories. We’re just lucky that Adam and Vero are top of the mark… that said, I don’t want them to die of overwork. LOL.

      It’s a great thing.

      • davefragments

I love this style. It’s not that other styles are wrong or awful, it;s just my taste. This is vivid, realistic, and handsome. Plus the sex takes a back seat in the story. Too much of what I see in comics is line art on deep blues and blacks. I like a story with sex on the side and not sex with a side of a story. It’s all a matter of taste.

        • Oh I understand that… I just say it this way: “I like a story with sex on my side then, when needed, I can lay down the story and have sex. If I remember to bookmark things, then afterwards I can get right back in to a good story.

          So……. YEAH!

    • Tyler Griffin

We are, apparently a very dedicated (and slightly obsessed) bunch. Not sure if Alex shouldn’t be a little less grateful and a little more concerned about us, lol.

  • davefragments

Meanwhile, in speculation of what today’s page will be — I think that huge mountain of water and the dampener (red thingie Duncan activated) will trade punches.

  • Sapfo

    Morning people.
Alex, I am so happy for you. You Rock and you keep making comics now 😀

Oki I am going to hid myself under some blankets, will come out when fever is down.
    Take care campers.

    • Good Morning, Ms Strawberry. Keep yourself warm.

      • Tyler Griffin

All of my strawberries are dead

        • Poor strawberries.

          • Tyler Griffin

I agree, I transplanted them according to the instructions and the almanac, and the weather promptly had a good freeze

          • Boo weather. In better news, because of the early freeze we had a bunch of irises this year. The most we’ve had.

      • Sapfo

I think that´s the problem A bit to warm XD

        • Aren’t you supposed to sweat a fever? o.O

          • Sapfo

Sweating/being warm means the fever is going down. Frezzing/being cold means it is going up. My body is warm only due to paracetamol

          • Ah! Just feel better!

    • Tyler Griffin

Morning Sappy, wait is it ok if i call you Sappy?

      • Sapfo

        Most nicknames are oki,

    • Oh you are supposed to be feeling better already. Take care you!

      • Sapfo

I think I will be oki by monday (I hope for I will not miss more of work then this!)

        • Maybe miss one extra day to catch up on your Elf boyfriends. Yes? XD

          • Sapfo

We see. maybe, maybe not. Dont want to miss to much of work

          • Adam Black

            Elf Boyfriends?

    • davefragments

What is it with these late winter/early spring colds? Wow, they are wicked and plentiful. Get well.

      • Xithyl

Could partly be sick with worry with how the battle is going atm :O

      • Sapfo

more like the flu I would think. But yes. No fun at all.

    • Keneu

Did Alex reach the Patreon goal where he can leave his job? Woah, congratulations!!

      • Sapfo

        Yes he did
        Go Team TYP 😀

      • Thank you, Keneu! 🙂

    • *Sends some chai tea and some veggie soup in the direction of Sweden*

      • Sapfo

oh you saw my cravings XD
        Thank you lady Wolf.

    • Thank you, Sapfo! 🙂 I hope you feel better soon! 🙂

    • purplefoxglove

I hope you get well soon, sweetie!

  • Keneu

Also, hello everyone – I just read Sapfo comment first ^^’

    • It’s cool… NO ONE can resist the power of the strawberries!

      • Keneu

No wonder she always gets the v’s xDD

  • Oh hey! I still made it to camp 🙂

I ‘overslept’ since I had set my alarm for over an hour ago, but hit the off-button instead of the snooze and continued having some really weird dreams.
That’s what I get for reading about archangels, (amateur) nephelims and the devil and his demons going into war while I was really tired just before bedtime.
    And I don’t mean TYP ^_^

  • Lillihandra

    “Alex Woolfson
reached their goal of $7,000.00 — Alex Can Quit His Day Job!”

    GUYS! GUYS!!!!!!!!

  • Terrell Penha

early or late for the fire?

    • Just in time 🙂

    • Adam Black

My doctor says NO mOAR human flesh,
but one last time wont kill me.

  • Btw.. let’s all give the comic a bit of support on TWC100 too.
Go vote for TYP on that black button that you can find to the right side of the screen, up next to Alex’ page note.

  • Oki.. did everyone fall asleep all the sudden?
Disqus isn’t showing me where the new comments are right now. Can only see a few has been made when I refresh the page, so is it also a disqus error that I see almost no new comments, or did you pass out from the pre-party of the reached milestone celebration?

    • davefragments

it got very quiet all of a sudden

      • Oki. So a collective gathering of energy in preparation for the adrenaline boom of a new page coming 😉

        • davefragments

I’ve been up since 8am this morning and it’s now 1am at night. Too many chores. Too much work. sleepy, sleepy.

          • Yeah. I’ve just had 3 days in a row with less than 3-4 hours of sleep a day (my own fault two of the days), and I’m feeling that. Good thing I can catch up on a little sleep after the page. I wanted to be here for camp, lack of sleep or not.

          • davefragments

This is one of my “special” nights” that takes lots of time to do certain necessary things. So I put the TV on and find I can listen to THE MAN OF LA MANCHA which because of certain memories makes me cry. (it’s a sad story for me) So I’ve had garbage on the TV since LA MANCHA ended and now (Because there is nothing on I want to see) I turned on CAMELOT (the movie) Vanessa Redgrave (as Guinevere) needs to learn how to sing without sounding like a pack of howling cats and Franco Nero (as Lancelot) might have turned heads but needs to never, never, ever sing (or attempt that) in any place but the shower and then with neon warning signs. Now I had to turn on CRIMINAL MINDS and pigs are squealing and eating people. I’ll go back to Camelot. The stage version I saw two years ago was better than the movie.
            Waiting is agony.

        • rgleon9986

I’m mostly just surprised the new page isn’t up yet. I’m not complaining, per se, it’s just not usual.

          • Vero needed a little bit more time with this one. But it shouldn’t be too long now. 🙂

          • rgleon9986

No worries, just excited to see the next page. I know y’all take no more and no less time than you need to get them up. Congrats on the milestone, btw! Turned in your two weeks yet? 😉

          • Thank you! And not quite yet. I need a bit more money in the bank. But soon. 🙂

        • Keneu

I’m reading another comic while I wait, it’s called Cheese in the Trap. 🙂

          • Is it good? It sounds familiar so I think it’s bookmarked in my (long list) of comics and mangas to check out.

          • Keneu

Yeah, I’m liking it a lot so far, even though the situations the main character goes through feel a bit unrealistic because it happens all at once and she’s surrounded by sociopaths that makes her life difficult and nobody does or suspects nothing of them. But the (female) main character is empathic and very perceptive, which makes her relatable and is a breath of fresh air after so many dumb female characters in manga. Sad but true.

            I’m reading it here: http://www.webtoons.com/en/romance/cheese-in-the-trap/list?title_no=99

          • I’ll check it out soon then. Would be nice with a main female character in a manga here and there.

    • Imma here, just attention slightly divided. The company is being chased by orcs… in sunlight. That has to be some strong sunscreen the orcs are wearing.

  • T. L. Henry

I’m running into this weird problem where the “latest page” button takes me to the page from weeks ago, and it’s really hard to find the newest page.

    • If you make a bookmark and paste this link into it (via bookmarks manager for example), it’ll create one that takes you to the latest page. I hope this helps. 🙂

      http://webcomics.yaoi911.com/?last_webcomic=webcomic2

      • T. L. Henry

Thanks. It did. I just couldn’t figure out why the “Last” button stopped working on the main page.

        • Glad it worked. 🙂 Have you cleaned your cache? Sometimes that helps regarding the last button.

          • T. L. Henry

            I haven’t. I’ll give that a try. Thanks. 🙂

          • You’re welcome!

    • Tyler Griffin

I’m getting that too. Alex had suggested that our web browsers’ cache might need to be be cleared, but I tried that and it did fix the issue at first, but the next time I came here it was doing it again. I keep getting dropped off as PP’s blast hurling Mitch towards the ground, what about you?

      • T. L. Henry

I haven’t tried it yet. I’m still trying to find the cache on my Windows 8.1 and figure out how to clean it up.

  • Megan Staples

    CONGRATULATIONS ALEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m so happy that the $7000 mark has been reached. Now you can do what you love for a living!
