The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Chapter Three—Page 101

530 Comments on The Young Protectors: Engaging The Enemy Chapter Three—Page 101

Boy… it looks he’s losing some blood there…

We now at $2810/month with 297 Patrons over at the Patreon Page! Our first two Milestone Goals have already been triggered. Patrons now get to see the pencil art along with the colored art for each update, and Patrons who chose to receive the Special Digital Rewards are now getting the safe-for-work Digital Kickstarter rewards, sent out to them every week! (These rewards include special wallpapers for their desktops and mobile phones, featuring gorgeous pin-up art of The Young Protectors’ characters, a PDF copy of the Volume One book, and more! This Wednesday was a very cool pin-up of the entire team on a night-time urban rescue mission, called “Save the Night”!)

And that’s in addition to receiving the special Sneak Peek Sunday updates — Patrons have already gotten to see Fluke and Flyboy shirtless as Special Digital Rewards, this Sunday, it’ll be Spooky’s turn and he’ll just be in his boxers! And people who become Patrons now and choose to receive the Special Digital Rewards will get to see all the art that’s been posted so far — so if you’re a Fluke or Flyboy fan or want to download the full-color Save the Night wallpaper, you won’t miss out!

It also means we’re only $190/month away from turning The Young Protectors into a permanent twice-weekly comic! We’re so close to getting all the art and web hosting for this comic paid for (which would be a huge step to making things sustainable!) — and for making sure our two pages of comics per week don’t get interrupted — and that’s because YOU ALL ARE ROCK STARS! THANK YOU! (And we’re also coming up to other Milestone Goals, including Patrons receiving the NSFW Kickstarter Rewards with full nudity, something I’ll never show on this site.)

There are lots of great benefits to being a Patron, almost 300 of your fellow readers have joined in the last couple weeks, and you’d really be helping me out if you became one too. If you’re enjoying our work here and would like to see it continue (and would like to get access to all kinds of special benefits!),

please take a moment to watch the video on my Patreon page and consider becoming a Patron. 🙂

We had our eighty-first bonus page in a row on Wednesday! And, thanks to your generous donations, and in addition to our regular Saturday updates, we’ve got just one more bonus page “in the bank”: page 102 which will be posted on Wednesday, February 4th!

I want to send out my warmest thank yous out to all the new Patrons who have joined in the last few days. As you can see in the comments below, a bunch more folks have had a blue, silver, or gold YP badge added to their Disqus avatars, which means they are a Patron. If you see one of these folks, please join me in extending my thanks for directly supporting the making of this comic! And please also send out a special thanks to those exceptionally generous backers who are on the Leaderboard of Awesome page. You all ROCK!

So! Spooky’s still in this fight so far, but he’s definitely hurt. Will he be able to keep The Annihilator in the air and out of trouble? And how are the other team members doing?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out for the last bonus page ever! Hope to see you there! 😀

If you particularly enjoy any of these pages and use Facebook, please click the Like button on that page. It’s useful to know what’s working and it helps me get the word out!
  • Tied up in KNOTS!

    • You got it 🙂

      • Thanks! It’s V #2 for me.

It was like that one time with you. I got here and no one was around for almost three minutes.

        • Doesn’t it feel weird? *lol*

        • Tyler Griffin

Yeah, I was still way down the comments on the other page and suddenly I realized that there had only been 2 new comments above posted in like 5 or 6 minutes. That’s when I knew I was just talking to myself.

        • stickfigurefairytales

          Way to go!!

    • davefragments

      congrats

    • Sapfo

      But GG!

  • O_O I just love Spooky… I want to take care of his boo boo.

    • Tyler Griffin

his boo boo, and then the area around his boo boo, just for good measure 0:D

  • Oh dear. Spooks is not paying attention to Anni and we still have yet to see him…
    This will not end well.

    • I hope you’re wrong but I wouldn’t be surprised.

  • Spooky, surely you have a healing potion in your coat!

    • timemonkey

Have we seen any indication of healing magic in this universe? I can’t remember.

      • In the beginning when they’re helping with the building fire, Spooky talks about healing folks.

    • Tyler Griffin

Quick, someone Soul Stone the Healer!

  • syllibub

    Hang in there, dude.

    • syllibub

Could say that to Duncan, too, in a more literal sense! Seriously, though, if Spooky gets weak from blood loss, and after taunting Duncan, there’s gonna be trouble. Well, more trouble.

      • Tyler Griffin

I’m kind of feeling like it’s about time for things to level out a bit.

        • syllibub

So am I — leg wounds aside, this whole operation’s been going suspiciously well. It’s about time for the turntables to…wait. Shit.

          • Tyler Griffin

Well, a lesson I learned in D&D is that 3 hours worth of gameplay combat equates to about a minute and a half of actual fight. I think in storytelling much the same concept applies. Everything that we have seen so far has probably only taken the first minute and a half or so since YP first burst in on the ceremony. In essence, they were still riding on the element of surprise. But it just feels like now PP and Anni, and even the minions should be getting their thoughts collected and switching from just reacting to being proactive in this fight.

          • syllibub

Good point about the timing! Even with two updates a week, pausing in between pages gives the illusion of a longer battle.

So the Protectors have been remarkably efficient about wrecking this party, then — in a matter of minutes, Amanda and Paul have taken down several minions, Tsunami knocked down the bone circle, Spooky restrained Duncan, and Kyle burned the Ominous Tome and is keeping Sircea occupied — and they’re the underdogs! It makes me worry a little about the damage Duncan and Sircea will lay down if/when they rally. …And at the same time, I really want to see it.

          • Klaus
          • syllibub

            Hahaha!

      • stickfigurefairytales

I kind of want to see Duncan as the classic “Hang in there, baby!” kitten, except being suspended by the magic here.

        • Tyler Griffin

That would make an AWESOME print/poster to sell at Cons.

  • DC

Looks like Spooky might need one of those snakes back for a tourniquet, I hope not.

  • Eris, elder daughter of Nyx

Poor Spooky! I need to work on my Cleric powers so I can cast Healing spells!

  • You don’t want to make the hell snakes angry, you wouldn’t like them when they’re angry!

    • Big demon-hug-weiners crammed in a teeny tiny bottle… you’d be cranky too!

      • They were in the teeny tiny bottle because they were cranky.

      • Tyler Griffin

Phenomenal Cosmic Sexy Potential…. itty bitty living space.

        • stickfigurefairytales

That’s exactly what came to mind for me too! 😀

  • *lol* Spooks doesn’t seem to have full control over his little bunch of hell snakes. He sounds a bit doubtful about them. Meh, it worked .. right?

    • timemonkey

Maybe his powers are weakening? He’s both multitasking and bleeding out so he may not be working at peek efficiency.

      • Could be. Also, I don’t think he’s had to pull that type of bottle on anyone that often. It’s a little hard to fully learn how they act/react if it doesn’t happen enough to find out 🙂

        • timemonkey

I dunno, given Spooky’s history and general calm demeanor I have difficulty imagining him using demons on people unless he knows he can control the amount of damage they’ll do.

          • D. Garrett

i think the terror and uncertainty of what the dragon snake creatures will do is part of its effectiveness. u wont struggle to get out of their hold if u think theyll bite u.

    • stickfigurefairytales

That’s why they’re in the bottle (normally) and not hanging out with him. Hell snakes don’t get shoulder rides anymore.

      • Yup he used to take them out for play time, but they just wouldn’t behave. I mean taking offence at someone breathing? Sheesh!

        • stickfigurefairytales

He tried spritzing them with a squirt bottle, but they ate it. The whole bottle.

          • And you don’t want to see what happened to the newspaper he tried to whack them with.

          • It’s like AXE… it makes sorcerers irresistible!

          • davefragments

My Niece and her Ex used to run a high school hockey team for the kids and the BANNED the “wall of Axe” from the hockey team. The stinky uniforms were more friendly to the nose.

        • Klaus

You must re4member that things are different for hell snakes. They just don’t understand this breathing thing.

          • There is that. I mean what is breathing. Instead I’m sure they’re offended at the rising and falling. Doesn’t the person know just how fierce they are, they should be petrified in fear!

      • davefragments

I remember a poster of Daniel Radcliffe with horns and goatee and a snake over his shoulders.

        • stickfigurefairytales

Was that from his movie Horns?

          • davefragments

Yes. Strange movie but a good movie. Radcliffe’s evil persona is a to of fun and quite the dangerous person.

          • Totally enjoyed that movies. As people began to tell him honestly what they really desired in life. It was great. Very creative film.

          • davefragments

That was fun. I liked the two strange cops.

          • Oh very much. The best part.

          • Need to see that! Thanks for the positive endorsements. I was on the fence about it.

          • davefragments

It is a paranormal story and the thing that happen are paranormal things.

          • Tyler Griffin

I wasn’t Evil Daniel Radcliffe? I’m on board!

          • Tyler Griffin

I still got to find somewhere to see that. It wasn’t in theaters here.

      • Tyler Griffin

Not since the “Eyebrow Incident” Spooky lost 3 weeks of good dates over that. We don’t talk about it anymore. Wait, SPooky, I was just explai-
        *smash*
        HIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
        Eeeeep!

  • davefragments

That star is rather deep into Spooky’s thigh. It must hurt like Hell.

    • syllibub

I was thinking that, too — getting it out isn’t going to be fun.

      • That’s when the nurse holding the forceps says, “Oh this won’t hurt a bit.” LIIIIIES!

        • Tyler Griffin

You might feel a *LITTLE* pinch

      • D. Garrett

hey syllibub. regarding the debate we had about the lizard brain…you were correct. i think i had one internet page i read that supported my position at the time but since ive heard from two sources that the lizard brain is the brain stem and cerebellum. the limbic brain has the amygdala. i wish someone observing the debate had corrected me. i dont mind being corrected in my understanding. in any case. you rock. *fist bump.

http://thebrain.mcgill.ca/flash/d/d_05/d_05_cr/d_05_cr_her/d_05_cr_her.html also revealed in the behavioral biology lectures by robert sapolsky of stanford. (lecture 14 [limbic system] of his 25 part series on youtube.)

        • syllibub

Haha, that whole conversation made me realize how little I know about the brain aside from a few factoids — I think I’ll look up Sapolsky’s lectures!

          • D. Garrett

i hope u do. i find it fascinating and often get diverted into other areas of research. i am currently at the beginning of lecture #16 which is the second on human sexuality.

  • timemonkey

Hopefully the minions will be dealt with soon and they can KO at least one of the big hitters. I’d say focus on PP since, from what we’ve seen, he’s the least likely to slaughter them all if freed.

    • Tyler Griffin

My dear Hexidecimal, where would the chaos and intrigue in THAT be?

      • timemonkey

If everyone gets slaughtered then there’s nobody left to fight. Chaos requires life.

        • Tyler Griffin

          True

  • Poor Spooky, that has to hurt! But, given his past, he’s got lots of experience with pain endurance. *wince* Still, I hope that thing didn’t catch anything too important. Still, I love his witty responses. 😀 And the bad guy caught up in snakes “eeping” is hilarious. 😀

  • stickfigurefairytales

Aw, I missed camping. But the new page looks great! Well, maybe not so great for Spooky.

    • Hi Stick! We missed you though it was quiet tonight.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Aw, thanks! Hi Gryphon!

    • Hi Sticky. At least you’re here now!

      • stickfigurefairytales

Hi AJ! Thanks, it’s good to be here!

    • D. Garrett

i missed camping too. but i also love the new page.

  • Tyler Griffin

Great Job on the art, showing that Spooky isn’t actually putting any weight on that injured leg. Yeah, I think the tides kind of starting to balance here. That wasn’t a clean knock out of the minion, I dunno if SPooky has to spend any concentration on that potions effect or not, but worrying about the minion is definitely a distraction. And that wound is bleeding pretty bad.

  • Okay more later, but “Eeeeep” is awesome and Spooky is the man! And blood loss is a bitch no matter who you are.

Spook I WILL kiss it and make it better.. yes I will!”

    • You might have to fight Danish for that privilege XD

      • Any time, any place… I will throw down for my Spooky!!!!! 🙂

        • Tyler Griffin

Ladies, and gentlekind! There is a simple solution. One of you takes the front, the other works the back. We’ll draw names. *Uses the Goblet of Fire confunded to pick only me*

        • *Cracks knuckles and cut nails so they’re more pointy*
          You were saying?

          • purplefoxglove

While the two of you fight it out, I’ll be busy administering first aid 😉

*runs for her life as Chris and Danish team up to take her down*

    • I love the eeep! I don’t know why, but that quiet little peep just sends me rolling.

      • I’d be embarrassed to admit just how long it took for me to decide exactly what was going to be in that word balloon. 😉

        • It was the exactly perfectly chosen word. 🙂

  • diegohatake

*get a first aid kit for Spooky*

    • Tyler Griffin

      I’ll suck the poison out

      • stickfigurefairytales

Me: But there is no poison.

Tyler: Shh. Better safe than sorry.

        • Tyler Griffin

          Exactly!

      • My thought exactly. Better safe than sorry. 🙂

      • diegohatake

Get in line for sucking, pal. 😉

        • Tyler Griffin

The line seems to be growing. i hope Spooky’s been taking his vitamins, and drinking plenty of fluids. Do we know how often pineapple appears in his diet?

          • Sheesh! No one accept a ‘dibs’ anymore, something I called on Spooky a long time ago >.>

          • Tyler Griffin

Well, in our defense, We have to wait for Mitch to have a few birthdays before we can stalk him. And Kyle needs to work through some personal issues before he’s ready for our attention.

          • Tyler Griffin

Of course we do, pumkin. But you have to sleep eventually.

  • Hours Left

    Spooky in peril. O_O

(SO happy to see the Patreon almost at $3000!)

    • diegohatake

I’ll start to contribute. I want THE full monty! *_*

  • TwilightDreamer

uh oh….here we go…looks like things are starting to turn a little…hold on Spooky!

  • Sapfo

    Good morning!
    Oh Gosh! Blood! *faints* -_-

    • Morning, Ms. Sapfo. *holds smelling salts*

      • Sapfo

Ssssh I did not faint for real, I was hoping that Spooky would come to my side and take care of me. Darn!

        • You’re trying to get him to walk right now? He’s hurt you mean you.

          • Tyler Griffin

That just means that he will require further medical “Care” and attention.

        • Oops… Sorry. But Poor Spooky is busy right now as much as he’d like to help resuscitate you. 😛

    • Tyler Griffin

Just concentrate on the fact that Spooky will HAVE to take his pants off to get that wound dressed.

      • Sapfo

        I know >:D

    • The nurse fainted? You must be getting sick if that suddently makes you faint *fans magazine over pseudo twin*

      • Sapfo

Considering that I deal with bloody wounds all day long. I should not be fainting, but it might be the image of a half naked Spooky that did it 😉
As you know I am a innocent

      • Tyler Griffin

        or pregnant? 😀

*ducks whatever gets thrown at me for that*

        • Sapfo

          <..>
Yes, I am having Spookys love child…. *RUN, SAPFO, RUN!!!*

  • Precious

-Is not crying in a corner because Spooky is hurt- I’m not -Sniffs- Crying what so ever T~T

  • davefragments

I’m editing, editing, editing. Chapter 3 and the story has 8 chapters. groan.

    • Tyler Griffin

*pats your shoulder and hands you a pot of coffee*

    • My sympathies,

      • davefragments

Chapter one took me five days. Chapter two a week.

        • Damn! At the moment, I’m stuck wondering if I should take the next step or not.

          • Tyler Griffin

            Next step?

          • davefragments

            There’s always another day.

          • davefragments

            Always take the next step.

          • Yeah. Oh boy. Damn. It’s that intimidation thing.

  • Tyler Griffin

Wait, do we have any idea whether or not items can be enchanted for properties in this world? I mean, what if Anni had PP enchant his shurikins to continually “Dig in” once they hit a target.

  • fujoshifanatic

Man, Spooky’s pain threshold is HIGH. I’d be saying a LOT more than “Damn,” (and at a much higher volume!) if I were in his particular condition. And he’s still able to muster up some sarcasm? That’s one tough dude!

  • D. Garrett

damn. spooky is hot. and thats all i have to say about that…(forrest gump)

  • 170 to go ^_^

    • Tyler Griffin

If someone will get congress to pass that $15 an hour minimum wage bill I could afford to increase my contribution. *hint hint*

    • Klaus

165 now. All it would take is that all us increase our pledge by 55 cents.

      • Klaus

        143 and counting

  • Tyler Griffin

Well, the Discussion seems to be slowing down a bit. Guess everyone is succumbing to sleep now that we have seen the new art and reaffirmed our desire to get Spooky the best medical attention possible.

  • What kind of magic is he using to keep his “surprise packages” invisible in panels 5 & 6?

  • Sunfire

Mmmm – Spooky’s face in panel 2 gives me the gooood shivers lol 😉

As for the dragons, if you think breathing ticks them off, you don’t wanna know what happens when you blink! 😮

The blood loss IS a worry though – the weakness that will develop from it will definitely impact on Spooky’s concentration and the potency of that hold spell.

Wonder if he has a potion in that wonderful coat of his that’s like an energy recharger or something? Something to give a boost to him.

    • Tyler Griffin

You should take a gander at his face in panels 3 and 4 of the last page.

    • Nate

Well, there’s Elixir of the Crimson Minotaur. But that’s mainly a flight potion….

  • charlieeton

Tips for villians: Always have poison shurikens. even if they do little damage, at least you’re poisoning them.

But seems like the non-poison shuriken Anni had have some effect on Spook ;D

    • Tyler Griffin

Or enchanted! Shurikens of Wounding can be handy

  • Kate G

HEY LOOK! It’s a birthday page! Happy birthday to me! Okay, well, maybe not as Spooks is really in some trouble here. That shruiken is deeply imbedded in his thigh and there’s no doctor on the premises.

I feel so bad for Spooks! Although he sure can keep his sense of humor; “invitation only.” LOL.

I love the coloring of the pipe dragons (legless dragons? tengs? What are they called? They look like the pipe fox from XXXholic.) Mr. Minion sure doesn’t seem to think they are cute as we think they are though!

But, still, SOMEONE GET SOME MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR LE SPOOKS!

    • Sapfo

Happy birthday to you! Hope you get a good day today 😀

      • Kate G

Aw, thanks. Hopefully I’ll have a good day…I have to get to sleep first. <-ever the insomniac.

    • Happy birthday, Kate! Thank you for being such an awesome member of our community here. I hope you have a fun-filled day! 🙂

      • Kate G

Aw, thanks! It’s great being here and seeing each new page!

    • Tyler Griffin

      Happy Birthday!!

      • Kate G

        Thank you!

    • Happy Birthday, Kate!

      • Kate G

        Thanks much!

    • purplefoxglove

      Happy Birthday ^^

      • Kate G

        Thanks!

    • Ilona Fenton

Happy Birthday. Nice to have a page up as a gift, even though Spooky looks like he might be in trouble with his leg.

      • Kate G

Thanks! It is a great page! I love the intensity.

    • Jen Roberts

      Happy Birthday! *Birthday Oreos*

      • Kate G

        Thanks, Jen!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Happy birthday, my name twin!

      • Kate G

        Thank you so much!

    • Happy Birthday!!!

      • Kate G

        Thank you!

  • somebody

Is it strange that I find those snakedragons really cute? xD They’re adorable <3
But poor Spooky, that must hurt like hell…
As always the page is super well drawn. I love how you draw faces! They look so real… And the rest of the body of course too

I wonder where those cult guys got their clothes from, since they all have the same outfit. I imagine a cute old lady sewing 'costumes' for her son and his friends haha~

    • The robes come from the Henchmen R Us outlet stores near the airport! 🙂

      • Jeldenil

The minions proof to be a great source for speculations, haha. I suggest a ‘minions’ spin-off. Uhm, no, not the yellow ones.

    • Klaus

A Google search for minionwear produces a 1500 hits.

    • I wonder how the custom plushie makers would do with snake dragons? Or if I can persuade any of the geek knitters that I have found their next genre project?

  • bronakopdin

    gosh Spooks, you’re awesome… I want a little us-time with you, too >////A<

when I got my jobs pay this month… I realized that I had 6€ more than before, looked at my hourly wage and it was raised by exceptional 15ct xD
BUT I thought this might be fate… so I decided to pledge now after all… xD

    • Thank you so much for your support, bronakopdin! You rock! Very glad for your good news and very glad to have you as a reader! 🙂

  • purplefoxglove

Just one little word, and I go from cheering and dancing to having a Gordian knot in my stomach in less than a second.

    Hang in there, Spooky! O.o

  • john Johnson

Yeah. Never turn your back on an opponent simply to quip at one already subdued. Now on to big bad. Is he enough of a bad dude to poison his stars, etc? Perhaps a paralytic?

  • Klaus

The Annihilator obviously used his super strength. The is no way a throwing disc would cut that deeply normally.

  • Toli Bera

Not to side with the villains on this point, but if I were a multi-billionaire super villain jerkface who used shurikens as my main weapon, I’d probably have them outfitted with nanite gyroscopes to keep them spinning so they continued to dig into whatever they hit. Hopefully this isn’t what Duncan has employed against Mr.Jones in this scenario. D:

  • Pikinanou

Spooky: “Hey, it’s not because I threw Hellish snakes at you that I wish for your death, okay?”

  • Jen Roberts

I like how you can see that he’s got his weight on his left leg. Also “us-time” xD Oh, Spooky! Though seriously, this team needs a healer. They seem to all be DPS/support, though I suppose Tsunami could be fairly tank-y.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Well, Spooky does seem to have healing powers (mentioned in chapter 1), but it would be nice to have someone else to back him up, too.

  • purplefoxglove

Come to think of it…snakes hiss, don’t they? It’s basically their only way of oral communication. Human breathing can sound like hissing – and there is no way of telling what the minion might “say” to the snakes. Small wonder they get pissed off by it!

Now, judging by the reaction our cats have to human sneezing (one of them actually complains each time and walks away), the minion can only pray his nose won’t itch.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Human: *breathes*
Snakes: “WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY ABOUT MY MOTHER?!?! …Well, technically I never knew her, being a reptile and all. So I guess we’re cool.”

  • karmakat

this look like a artery hit on his leg…

    • RustyBurrell

Oh, hai Karma! It’s Kyuuketsuki from FA, dunno if you remember me or not though >.>

      • karmakat

hehe sorry i am HORRIBLE with names

    • Saxon_Brenton

Yes. I’m beginning to think you might be right. [worries]
So, back in chapter 1 Spooky mentioned that he could do magical healing. Big questions are: can he do it on himself by willpower alone rather than having to take time out to perform a magical gesture (or even ritual)?; and, even if he can, will performing healing by willpower alone divide his attention enough for Annihilator to free himself?

      • Klaus

Spooky can do no other magic while holding the Annihilator.

        http://webcomics.yaoi911.com/archive/ete-ch3-page-75/

        • Saxon_Brenton

Oops. You’re right. I forgot about that.
But he can perform quick non-casting actions like throwing bottles. Now, if only the throwing star weren’t embedded in his leg, he might be able to use some magic duct tape of healing that Piffany was always using _Nodwick_.

          • Tyler Griffin

I need to include that in my next D20 Modern campaign. Duct Tape of Healing…

      • karmakat

if he doesn’t have a potion his best chance is getting it cauterized with a flame…

  • RustyBurrell

    Hello femoral artery…

  • Tristan Black Wolf

Oh, I SO dream of Spooky bringing back a famous line … “I ain’t got time to bleed.” ~__^

  • Only $90 more & we’re officially at 2 pages/week!!! *EXCITED* If I could I would so donate that last $90, but we’ll get it!!! https://www.patreon.com/alexwoolfson

    • $85 more now! We’re gonna make it and probably very soon!

      • Saxon_Brenton

As I have grumbled before (like a curmudgeonly old grumbly person…) it was almost inevitable that we’d reach the third, $3,000, “art production and-webpage hosting are paid for, here have a second page per week” threshold. It was more a question of whether we’d get there before the banked bonus pages from the donation bar ran out.
That now looks like a needless concern. This is an excellent outcome. Well done everyone.

        • I newer had doubt. Am I really the only one? 😉

          • bronakopdin

not really but I guess we are just all amazed at how fast it was 😀

        • Eris, elder daughter of Nyx

          We made it! Victory! -spins-

  • Wayne Lunkwitz

Bleeding, pain, and a wicked sense of humor! Spooky is one cool dude!

  • We made THE GOAL… two pages! Alex is awesome. You all are awesome. The world is a brighter and more awesome place as of right now!!!

I’m so happy. Now what’s the goal that means that Spooky visits my house? That’s in there somewhere right? LOL.

    So great.

    • WOOHOO!!!

      • I think this calls for a round of muffins all around… HEY EVERYONE! Muffins! Muffins from the Admiral. Come one. Come all. Get your free, moderator-approved, two-page celebration muffins!!!!! Yaaaayyyyy….

    • Shella_Bluey

      🙂

    • BONZAI!!!! (/◕ヮ◕)/・*:.。. .。.:*・゜゚・*

      ヽ(´ー`)人(´∇`)人(`Д´)ノ

      • bronakopdin

        You mean Banzai? xD
anyway, with this I don’t mind being happy about trees, too 😀

        • the tree is spelled with an s

          • Is that like saying that ‘Dokidokibaka’ is spelled with a ‘SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE’ … but only when the emphasis is on the ‘Mitch’ syllable?

          • lol, have I told you lately how much I love you Chris?

          • Repetition is never wrong! 😀

            Back at you Madam Squeeeeeeeeee!

          • bronakopdin

I knew that, too, lol, but I only know “Banzai” for the “good luck” Japanese thing xD so what is Bonzai? at least SOUNDED like the tree phonetically ^^

anyway I guess it was a typo but WHO CARES TWO PAGES A WEEK WOOOOOOOOOT

    • Klaus

      O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

      • The fact that you toast with that statement is one of the main reasons I love this community. Where else can you get a decent ‘frabjous day’? Thank you sir.

    • Saxon_Brenton

I think this calls for virtual champagne (or virtual non-alcoholic grape juice, as personal tastes require).

[raises glass] “To a fully funded webcomic.”

      • Thank you, Sir Saxon. I’m virtually drunk on that very expensive, high quality, virtual champagne!

(clinks expensive virtual crystal champagne flute with Saxon, thus making the point that geeks can have very good taste too… then refrains from making the geeky joke about ‘tasting good’ also)

    • I just saw 😀 One of the first things I checked when I logged on *does a dance sitting in the chair*.

Breathe, Chris, breathe. I had no doubt this would happen before the bonus time ran out. Oh, and Spooky will already be busy elsewhere 😉

    • fujoshifanatic

YAAAAAAAY! First thing I checked when I came back to this page! I knew we could do it; we love our two pages a week too much to give them up. Heck, I fully expect Alex to reach his “quit day job” goal, since his stuff is that good. Go Alex!

      • I’m so with you… voraciously shameless me is already looking at that NSFW goal. (who’s a perv? me? LOL)

But today is a day for opening some of D’Frag’s Prosecco and rejoicing!!! Heeeeeeeeee….

        • [channels Magenta] You’re a perv! I’m a perv! We’re all peeeervs! Hahahaha!

          • Okay Magenta is teh awesomes (I can’t believe I wrote it that way, but whatever… Heee.)

However, my favorite Magenta and Riff Raff quote is:

            Magenta: I ask for NOTHING!

Riff Raff: And you shall receive IT! IN ABUNDANCE!

            Love that. How indescribably true.

    • D. Garrett

      yes!!!

    • Two pages a week! [does the happy reader dance] I am so glad I checked my email and saw the Patreon update before I turned in for the night. 🙂

    • bronakopdin

When I saw the Mail only a few minutes ago I was suuuuuper happy, too!
We all made this possible together 😀
      it’s an amazing feeling somehow!
(and please invite me if you have Spooky over xD)

      • Count on it, despite my desire for private time to the Spooks… first there WILL be a party! 🙂 (and thanks again!)

    • Eris, elder daughter of Nyx

Squee! I just saw the email, and really, that’s all I can say at this point! Squee!

  • davefragments

    Good News.

  • Shinashi

    That looks mighty deep. :c

    • Ellen Harman

Think maybe it hit as artery?

      • I don’t think he’d be holding up as well if it was a critical artery, such as the carotid in the neck or abdominal aorta just below the kidneys… those to end in a pretty quick death.

However, I’m not any sort of expert on leg injuries, so how quickly he might get weak from bleeding, I will leave to experts to comment on (and I know you are out there in the audience, you experts).

Just remember that Spooky blood is extra spooky!

        • He isn’t yet standing in a pool of his own blood, so he is still good for now.

          • Do you have any idea of how much blood Levi’s can absorb? I mean… (oh was that in my out-loud voice) … I mean, I have no idea. No idea at all. Hmmmm… might be a lot? Maybe? Possibly. Anyone?Heh.

          • lol, well he doesn’t have a boot filling up with his blood, and it has yet to reach all the way down his leg. We still need to worry, but we don’t need to panic quite yet.

        • Ellen Harman

Leaving the blade in would slow the bleeding as it would block the hole. However, if the major artery in the thigh is hit you can bleed out. believe it will be slower than the neck but faster than the abdomen.

      • Klaus

One of the minor arteries of the thigh, then. The main artery would bleed much more.

      • Shinashi

        nuuuuuu

  • I was wondering if maybe it was poisoned…

  • YOU DID IT!

Y’all just blasted past the $3000/month Milestone Goal!

That means that all the money I put into the art and webhosting for 8 pages of The Young Protectors each month is now covered. It also means that I can officially turn The Young Protectors into a twice-a-week comic!

YOU ALL ROCK SO MUCH! THANK YOU!

Of course, there are still even more awesome rewards ahead (including unleashing the NSFW Full Monty Kickstarter rewards at $4000/month). And I’m going to be sending out a survey shortly to Patrons to find out what other Milestone Goals y’all might find especially appealing.

But for now, please join me in taking a whooping victory lap! We started this Patreon campaign less than 3 weeks ago, and amazingly, we’re already almost halfway to making it so I can quit my day job and do this full time! That’s mind-blowing! I always say that I’ll never take your support for granted, but I’m beginning to learn to never underestimate what you all are capable of when you work together.

You are a team who would make Commander very proud.

Thank you so much for being the most awesome readers in the world. You really do ROCK! 🙂

    More soon!

    Alex

    • As a shameless fan, I can honestly say that I would have loved nothing more at 15-16 years old than discovering Kyle, Mitch and the mysteriously undefined preference that is our Spooky, and all the rest of the mystery boys and their lady.

I think we are incredibly lucky that you put this heart and work into such an extremely worthy piece of entertainment. Thank you Alex. The Young Protectors is one of a kind and I consider myself very lucky to have discovered it.

Be well and keep writing and directing! 🙂

    • Ding, Ding, DING!!!!!

Congrats, Alex, and to all of us. Yay!

    • Klaus

And it keeps rising. 3015 when I went to bed, 3091 now. The next milepost of interest to me is $5000. Those who missed the kickstarter will be looking forward to $4000, I am sure.

    • Sapfo

I am so happy for this news!
      And you Rock also!

    • So exciting! There isn’t much more I can say that everyone else has said, so I’ll just say: what everyone else said. 🙂

    • purplefoxglove

      *hugs*

      Sorry, out of words. 😀

    • AseretZone

Whoo, awesome! Nothing’s gonna stop you now! XD Congrats!

    • Sunfire

*runs around with lit sparklers* Whooo hoo!! 😀 CONGRATULATIONS!!

  • YangYueLan

I do like Spooky’s Flask O’ Dragons (TM).

  • dereule101

Jeez, Spooky, just send him into the Phantom Zone already.

  • Spooky, please just levitate the bastard’s head into something and knock him out!

    • Klaus

Easier said that done. He is invulnerable.

      • Oh, s he? Mr Pointy would like to test that theory.

  • Terri Sutton

Those were his favourite pair of jeans! Do you know how hard blood stains are to get out of clothing, not even powerful magic can get rid of those!

  • Mykle Breakfield

hey Alex, I know full on nudity isn’t your thing with your comics, but have you heard of or thought about doing VDSD? Could be great potential way to bring in some new fans, and we’ve seen very tasteful and creative nudity from y’all already. I think this could be something that would really knock it out of the park for YP. This comic has that way of giving us exactly what we want without giving it to us, and always leaving us wanting more, if you know what I mean. We get the good without actually getting the goods. And that’s a difficult thing to achieve as successfully as you guys have done it. I’m including the link to thepage so you can check it oout and see if it’s something you might be interested in (if you don’t already know about it). Would love to see you on there! 🙂

    http://vdsdaction.com/

    • Hmm. That’s interesting. I hadn’t heard of it before. I don’t think we’d be able to do that this year (my artists are at full capacity right now) and there could be problems with my ad provider for me doing this, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind for next year. 🙂

  • Klaus

I don’t know where PP gets clothes for her minions. but I do now where she gets food.

    • davefragments

      That’s funny.

    • syllibub

      I love it!

  • ::claps:: I’m just so fortunate to have found this comic.

  • Klaus

“How long can you hold him?”
“As long as I live. Maybe twenty minutes.”
This is a quote from one of the greatest fantasy novels of all time, Empire of the East by Fred Saberhagen. A sorceror is keeping a powerful demon from attacking our heroes. Now why did I suddenly think of that?

  • I know I’m early, but I’m in class (and don’t want to be) and irritated with my boyfriend. 🙁 So camp time instead. Anybody else around? *pitches tent*

    • Klaus

Yes, but I am just leaving.

    • davefragments

I think tonight’s update might have a thing or two about Spooky and that “slight scratch” he has.

    • *trudging into camp from the eagle post* Okay, who has the peanut m&m’s? I’m having a terrible craving.

      • D. Garrett

*hands u open bag of large peanut m&m’s. “heya aj.”

        • *grabs bag* Thanks! Hi D!

          • D. Garrett

yw. wonder where everybody is. isnt this kinda unusual? but i dont make camp all the time so im not sure.

          • It’s still a little early. And Wednesdays have been light lately.

          • D. Garrett

            oh. okay. *.*

          • When Kyle was in hell, well those camps were quite busy. So anything less than that is pretty light to me. We’re talking often well over 1000 posts sometimes as much as 2000 before the next page.

          • D. Garrett

omg! thats alot of reaction. i was reading through, catching up. i didnt stop to read comments so i had no idea.

  • D. Garrett

anyone else experiencing problems with this site?

    • DemureDesire

I just got a script error message, but my computer is old and cranky. (So am I.)

      • D. Garrett

im worried if we will be able to see the new page. *scratchin mah head.

        • DemureDesire

I think so. Mine was a temporary glitch.

          • D. Garrett

glad u said that! i reloaded and its normal now. yay!!!

    • davefragments

I haven’t had a bit of trouble with Disqus all night.

      • D. Garrett

thats good. when i first got on site it was mostly script with images for ads only. but after a few mins it returned to normal.

  • davefragments

I’m back from the utter whiteness of being. (It’s a Feb 3rd Laugh of the Day).

  • stickfigurefairytales

Hi everybody! How are you all doing?

    • D. Garrett

      hey sticky. im good. u?

      • stickfigurefairytales

I’m good! Just got back from my dollhouse miniatures club. I was teaching the project this time, and it went really well.

        • D. Garrett

thats good. i love to see the miniatures at the art museum. the craftsmanship is amazing. 🙂

          • stickfigurefairytales

Ooh, are you in the Chicago area? The Thorne Room miniatures are absolutely incredible.

          • D. Garrett

yep. i went last year. mesmerizing in detail.

          • stickfigurefairytales

I saw them once when I was a kid, but I would love to go again!

          • D. Garrett

i hope u do. its def worth the trip.

    • davefragments

giggly and silly from just after dinner . . .
How was the day for you?

      • stickfigurefairytales

Good! I had a fun day.

      • D. Garrett

u had alot of wine with dinner? *chuckles

        • davefragments

MEDIA-ITE posted a story about Bobby Jindal where a constituent painted a full size portrait of him and she created an image of a man white and fair skinned. It’s so easy to mock. I almost forgot, she slimmed Jindal’s nose and took the slight bend out of the middle.
I’ve been writing silly things in between the political comments all night.

          • D. Garrett

wow. looks like total diff guy. crazy.

          • davefragments

A rather misguided gift but none-the-less she tried. I mean everybody hates Roethke, so she should be proud of her “review.” (wink, wink)

          • D. Garrett

dave, ur beginning to be linked in my head with “google search”. standby. lol!

          • stickfigurefairytales

Actually, I think that’s his official portrait.

          • davefragments

That was misreported. The “official” portrait is being painted or something. This was a constituent and to tell the truth, she did a nice job. It’s just that she made him like those pictures of Jesus – blue eyed and dark blond hair (well not the blue eyes but the nose job.
Who said Vanity, the name is woman? Bobby Jindal? or Hamlet, prince of Denmark?

          • stickfigurefairytales

Huh, good to know. I still wouldn’t call it a “nice job” though – it doesn’t look anything like him.

          • davefragments

OK. I’ll admit it is just so awful that the first time I saw I it laughed out loud for about five minutes.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Oh jeez, that’s a horrible excuse for a portrait!

          • davefragments

I think she ran out of brown carrel (snark, snark, giggle, giggle, mockery!)
Like I should say she gave him a nose job because my honker is broken too.

    • Just woke up from a much needed nap. ^_^

      • D. Garrett

        heya doki.

      • stickfigurefairytales

Happy to see you, Doki! Glad you got a nice nap.

        • Yeah I have been having troubles sleeping for awhile. I think since I woke up on Sunday I have had just barely 15 hours of sleep altogether?

          • stickfigurefairytales

Oh no! D: Well, I’m glad that you got some rest just now. Is your ear bothering you?

          • a little bit? I think?

          • stickfigurefairytales

            *hugs you*

          • *hugs*

          • D. Garrett

            sorry. that sucks. 🙁

          • considering how grumpy I get with lack of sleep, yes.

    • Hi Stick!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Hi AJ! *hugs*

  • -a

So I just stumbled upon The Young Protectors and, after reading a few pages, ended up going and reading all of Artifice and all of the (currently available) YP today.

I just wanted to say: this is amazing.

I’ve honestly never seen two men kiss and thought, “woah, that is really hot” until I read this work. And it isn’t so much who, but the how. The tension and desire and all that is so thick you can taste it.

I look forward to reading the rest of this- finding out if this is the end of the world, and who ends up kissing or killing who. So keep up the good work!

    • stickfigurefairytales

Welcome! So glad you found this!

    • Welcome ^_^ to the slippery slope. ^_^

    • Welcome, a! Glad to have you here. And you’re just in time, we have a page coming up tonight!

    • D. Garrett

      heya, -a!

    • Lillihandra

Welcome to the fandom. You will find just how long a couple days can feel. We try to be good company, though.

    • Welcome, -a! Thank you so much for the kind words! Yep, the “how,” the “tension and desire,” all of that is very important for me—glad you liked that. 😀 (And much more fun is to come in the pages ahead!)

You’ll also find a really awesome, welcoming community here. A really great group.

I’m curious, how did you find us?

      • -a

It was a sidebar ad for YP (the superhero/supervillian, it’s complicated one). I’m not sure exactly where… Dark Legacy Comics or ChaosLife, maybe?

I’ll be honest- the first couple times I saw the ad I thought it was probably just one of the random meaningless porn comics, but my curiosity regarding the superhero/supervillian line finally won over my assumption that it would be just sex for sex sake.

        • Ah. Interesting. Thank you for letting me know! 🙂

And what got you to shift over to Artifice after a few pages of The Young Protectors?

          • -a

After a few pages of The Young Protectors I’d decided it was definitely something I was going to read, and when its available I like to read the oldest works first- gives me insight into the writer.

(Also, to be clearer- the banner ad I saw was the one with Kyle and Duncan in bed together, not fighting; thus my incorrect assumption that there wouldn’t be enough plot to be worth reading. I just saw a different ad with the same text, so I thought I’d clear that up)

          • That’s very helpful for me. Thanks, -a! Hope we get to see you here a lot! 🙂

  • *rolls out of tent* What’d I miss?
*rolls continuously as mode of transportation*

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Lots of explosions.

      • …I’m not gonna roll onto a mine am I?

        • stickfigurefairytales

Nah, we wouldn’t leave armed munitions lying around.

          • I don’t know why that reminds me of this lol, but there is this line from the Golden Girls where Blanche accuses Sophia’s family of being full of murders (they’re Italian) and Sophia says “I resent that! No one in my family ever, ever….left a body to be found.”

  • Lillihandra

Hey everyone! I brought s’mores, pocky, and spiked cocoa for the campout. Have I missed anything exciting?

    • You have Pocky???? AND spiked cocoa???

      • Lillihandra

Mmmhmm. I’m stuffed with coffee from earlier, so I should be able to be awake through the whole thing this time despite the boozahol.

        • I will have some Pocky and spiked cocoa please?

          • Lillihandra

            Chocolate or strawberry cream?

          • Could I have both?

          • Lillihandra

Sure! If you bite them both at the same time, it tastes a little like a chocolate-covered candied strawberry.

          • Sweet!

    • Oh my god Cocoa please I’m freezing D:

      • Lillihandra

Dark, milk, or with ‘mallows? And straight, flavored, or spiked?

        • Dark, and I need booze after this day.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Oh no, you had a bad day?

          • Kind of. 🙁

          • stickfigurefairytales

            *hugs you*

          • *hug* Thanks

          • *hugs*

          • *hug*

          • 🙁 Boo for bad days.

          • Why did I decide to go to college…

          • Lillihandra

Because someone managed to convince you the tens of thousands of dollars of debt, lack of sleep, and years of feeling like a complete and total failure would make life better in the long run.

          • *cocks gun* S’cuse me, I have to go talk to somebody…

          • D. Garrett

*snatches cocked gun. “drink ur cocoa!” chocolate alwayz makes everything better.

          • *pouts and drinks cocoa* >.> Hmph

          • Lillihandra

No pouting with cocoa. If you’re pouting it’s not strong enough.

          • D. Garrett

omg lol! hey can i get some of that spiked cocoa (dark with alot of mallows) plz?

          • Lillihandra

            Mini, regular, flavored, or giant?

Edit: or shaped… since someone apparently picked up shaped at some point… >.>

          • D. Garrett

            reg.! ty.

          • Because that’s what we’re told we’re supposed to do? 😐

          • Lillihandra
          • Lillihandra

            So extra-strong, I take it?

          • If my head’s not spinning after I’ll need another, lets put it that way.

          • Lillihandra

AH. Skipping the light stuff and straight for the strawberry ‘shine then.

          • Thank you dear heart.

          • Lillihandra

Hey, if I was there in person or you were here, you would literally be holding a full giant mug atm. If there’s anything I can actually do, just let me know.

          • Camping with friends always makes things better, but thanks for the offer. ^_^

          • Lillihandra

            🙂 Good to know.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Ooh, s’mores! I’ll take some, please!

    • Spiked cocoa!!

  • davefragments

I think that tonight we find out just how bad that shuriken hurt Spooky.

    • I still think we discover Anni is up to something up there. We haven’t seen him just long enough to make me suspicious.

      • davefragments

I don’t think that Duncan is the villain to worry about. HE seems like the stooge to the Platinum Priestess and not the brain of the spell

    • stickfigurefairytales

It definitely does not look good.

    • syllibub

I figure Amanda will check in on him — maybe she’ll devise a way to distract Duncan long enough for Spooky to work some healing magic on himself.

      • davefragments

Then the Platinum Proestess gets to do bad things.

        • syllibub

Yeah, I wonder if Fluke and Amanda are about done with the minions — I think it’ll be very bad news for the Protectors if they give Sircea any leeway at this point.

          • davefragments

She has the most to lose if the gate does not open. I know the price Duncan will pay but he has had second thoughts. She’s as mad as a march hare and as hungry for power as that groundhog was for the mayor’s ear it nibbled on.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            *hare

          • davefragments

            oops. I’ll fix

          • stickfigurefairytales

            No problem. 🙂

          • syllibub

Ha, I saw that clip — an apt comparison!

  • I have to run home. Nothing interesting happen while I’m gone!

    • We will try to be boring until you get back!

      • D. Garrett

an effortless skill for me. 1v_v1

        • Lillihandra

Not after that amount of booze it won’t be…

          • D. Garrett

haha. no recording my idiocy people!!! dont wanna wake up to youtube surprises!

          • Lillihandra

I won’t have to. That’s what the comment section is for.

        • Now now! 😀

    • Lillihandra

      No promises…

  • Sapfo

    *me yawning*

    Good morning good People!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Good morning, Sapfo!

      • Sapfo

        morning sticky

    • Good morning, Ms Sapfo.

      • Sapfo

And good evening to you my dear Admiral! All men on deck?

        • Hehe, on deck? Well…

          • Sapfo

Well…. you are starting to get a lot of virgins now my dear. your own little crew.

          • It seems I have. But it’s windy and they’re wearing kilts and I’m the possessive type.

          • Sapfo

Better keep thous kilts pinned down then. btw how did they end up in kilts on a ship? o.O

          • stickfigurefairytales

            It’s the required uniform.

          • Exactly!

          • Tape!

          • davefragments

            To what?

          • Never mind. o.O

          • davefragments

I wore the entire uniform when I marched in the Pipe and Drum Band at College and it was not a fun outfit. Too many pieces, too many details to be right, and in cold weather, without the Plaid, it was damn cold.

          • Well gotta make certain those kilts don’t fall off.

          • davefragments

It’s got a waistband about 6 inches wide and suspenders under the doublet. I was built straight up and down and my jilt would never ride up, come off, or fall down.

          • That almost sounds like cheating. 😀

          • davefragments

There;s six yards of material in a kilt. That’s more than enough to hold it in place with a big waistband.

Plus, you have to wear a t-shirt or shirt under the doublet and it comes over the kilt. The Plaid holds the doublet from moving like a real jacket. Or a cape that drapes over the left shoulder requires it to be heavy to support that weight.

The sporan keeps the kilt in place like a belt. It hangs down on the hips. How big is is depends on the band but ours was the big horse hair sporan. A kilt pin holds the flap.

Then there are the shoes, spats, hose tops, skein duh.

          • D. Garrett

something is strange with me. i found that erotic. talk more about mens clothes!!!

          • davefragments

It was an absolute pain to sit in that thing. Marching was ok but sit on the grass and wrong your things showed.

          • …..You mean sit on the grass right, right? O;-)

          • davefragments

yes. but even to sit on a chair, I had to remember not to (As the current phrase goes – man spread.

And sitting on a cold steel bench at football games was a real eye opener if one was not careful.

          • D. Garrett

            *big big grin!

          • davefragments

It wasn’t simple and the entire tartan part of the uniform was wool. Not to mention that the pipes were spiteful and never in tune. If a piper said he was playing twenty years then ten were spent tuning up and the other ten spent playing out of tune.
WE told freshmen that the skein duh was used to slit the stomachs of horses if they trampled a warrior and the poor freshmen believed it.
The practice chanter made a noise like a dying cat with a sinus condition.

            added: that’s bagpiper’s humor, BTW

          • D. Garrett

ive got chills. i must look into this more!

          • I think that’s something that many find to be a perks. 😀 *wink wink*

          • davefragments

We had lots of fun in that uniform and could get away with outrageous things.

          • D. Garrett

u cant say that and not expound! explicitly. ok within alex’s rules. *pouts

          • davefragments

We used to do a Rockets Routine to Narcissus on the sideline ending in flipping the rum major and then run over to the other team’s bench side and “steal” a cheerleader.

          • D. Garrett

            cool. 🙂

          • davefragments

The football team asked the marching band to remember that it was a FOOTBALL game and not a comedy routine for the band and pipers.
They felt people weren’t watching them enough. Me? I was a 145 pounds soaking wet and never argued with football players.

          • D. Garrett

lol! i dont blame u there.

          • davefragments

            It was fun.

          • davefragments

We were asked NOT to ever (under any circumstance) to do two cheers (Ever again)
            1) Potato Chip, Potato Chip, Munch, Munch Munch, Someone go get the referee linch, Eat it, ref, Eat it.
            2) Elevator, Elevator, We got the shaft.
Those you can get away with once.
We did the “A” and “B” cheers, too but they aren’t easily written.

          • D. Garrett

            ha ha ha! luv em.

          • Dang!

          • davefragments

One of pipers had the rights and permission to wear the trappings of the Black Watch and he was serious about it. When we faced the flag we slated because ours was a military uniform. We used Carnegie trappings and he had the Black Watch.

          • Sapfo

Hope they dont got hairy legs

          • D. Garrett

mmmm i hope they do! i know. sadistic. love men with hairy legs. :-Q_____

          • Um…. My men are usually not smooth.

          • davefragments

They don’t know where the wind comes from but they do know where the wind is blowing!

Definitely! I’m sure she’ll do great.

    • *hugs* I am sure everything will be fine.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thank you, Doki! <3

    • davefragments

In my thoughts. I have two friends with artificial knees. IT’s painful but the result is good.

      • stickfigurefairytales

Yeah, I definitely think it will be worth it. She just has a lot of scar tissue in that knee already because she had it operated on when she was in high school (in the 1950s). [Edit: Also, thank you!]

    • Sapfo

I hope everying will be alright.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thank you, Sapfo!

    • D. Garrett

make plans to do something enjoyable with her, something SHE loves, at some post-surgery date. will give her something to focus on as they prep her for surgery.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        That’s a good idea, thanks!

        • D. Garrett

          yw!

    • Done! For you and her!

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Thank you! <3

    • All my best wishes!!!!!

Hm… I feel like we need some music. Here’s my contribution:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMUPxMwgf4g

Just be careful how loud your speakers are set. You’ll startle the unwary.

    • D. Garrett

ha. i adjusted right away. *listenin

  • EMR has updated. ^_^ Don’t forget it is two pages! http://elanmeetsrafa.com/the-comic/ch24pg3/

If you haven’t had a chance to read this amazing comic yet, you can begin reading it here: http://elanmeetsrafa.com/the-comic/

    • stickfigurefairytales

I should really start reading that.

      • Yes yes you should! Or you will no longer be my friend! 😛

      • kuku

It is SO good. Very different style from this, but such compelling characters and story.

      • D. Garrett

        brace urself. u will cry!!!

        • stickfigurefairytales

          But…but I don’t wanna cry!!

          • Its the kind of crying you do because the story has pulled you in so far that you cannot stop.

          • D. Garrett

its completely worth it. trust us!

          • yes yes yes You will cry but you will enjoy every second of it.

…..hmmm I might be a little bit of a masochist?

          • D. Garrett

            i def am.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            …Okay…

    • D. Garrett

      ty!!!! yesssss.

      • Klaus

It is 6:49 here. I just got out of bed. And now I need to eat breakfast and get to work.

        • D. Garrett

hey! well at least ull have the new page to look 4ward to when all is said and done.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      I don’t know!

    • Sorry I was working tonight ;___; next week though no work on Tuesday night!

      • *hugs and cuddles* I am re-reading a Harry Potter/Ouran High School Host Club omegaverse crossover.

I would soooo be an omega.

        • Hehehe *raises hand for the alpha club* struts away… 😉 Enjoy!

        • D. Garrett

i believe i would be switch…. oh well. not sure that exists in this dynamic. *shrugs and refuses to do google search.

          • syllibub

You might not want it in your search history anyway, haha

          • D. Garrett

            i only surf incog honey!

  • stickfigurefairytales

I’m getting awfully tired. Might have to clock out early.

    • You have a big day of support tomorrow.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        This is true.

        • Well if you do run, have a goodnight’s sleep!

    • Lillihandra

      Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

      • stickfigurefairytales

Don’t worry, I’ll be back tomorrow!

        • Lillihandra

Oh… Okay. I guess that’ll work. Hope everything goes well tomorrow!

    • syllibub

I’m waiting for my comforter to finish drying, and then I’ll probably be falling asleep too. Warm blanket + soreness from 4 hours of cleaning is a lethal combination. Or at least a drowsy one. I’ll be keeping you and your mom in my thoughts tomorrow!

      • stickfigurefairytales

Mmm, that warm blanket sounds really good. Sleep well, and thank you so much, syli!

    • *hugs* Sweet dreams sweetie and good luck tomorrow.

    • D. Garrett

      rest well. dream of typ.

  • Sapfo

I have to run. Do stuff and such. Have a good camping

    • stickfigurefairytales

Take care, Sapfo! See you later!

    • D. Garrett

      cya later. 🙂

    • *hugs* Have a good day Sapfo love!

  • Just got back from a wedding. Page should be up in about 20 minutes. 🙂

    • Lillihandra

      ‘Gratz to the happy couple.

    • Congrats to the happy couple! ^_^

    • davefragments

      guest or bridesmaid?

(I’ve had one of those fun nights.)

      • It was with my very good friends, Michael and Peter. It was informal so no official wedding party. 🙂

        • davefragments

All weddings are happy events. My best wishes.

          • DemureDesire

            Unless there’s a shotgun involved…

    • syllibub

      Hope you had fun!

      • I did. It was a blast. 🙂

        • syllibub

Casual weddings are so great — pomp and ceremony can be really nice, but I like the ones that just feel like a big party.

    • D. Garrett

      yay! oh. hey alex. 🙂

  • Just getting home from work but need to crash… happy page hunting everyone & I’ll check in tomorrow 😉

    • *cries* Noooooo! *sniff sniff*

    • D. Garrett

      rest well. gnite.

  • Derkins

this page is awesome and hilarious and the expression on spooky’s face in panel 4 is completely priceless … but that’s a very deep cut… could have some serious blood loss going on and possible severed who-knows-what once that gets pulled out.

  • Lillihandra

    SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON

  • We have officially banked over 100 (maybe 200) comments this camping session so far. ^_^

    • Lillihandra

      Yay, teamwork!

  • Lillihandra

    …>.> The cocoa’s gone… Why’s the cocoa gone?

    • D. Garrett

*looks guilty. rubs neck, wipes cocoa remains from lips…. “dunno. fancy that?!”

      • Lillihandra

Psh… that doesn’t count. I gave you some.

        • D. Garrett

“yeah. right right. 😀 ” *inwardly giggles that my second cup wasnt noticed…(phew. also relieved.)

          • Lillihandra

It was noticed. That’s why you’re giggling like an idiot. I don’t use panzy 6oz mugs. I use the big 32oz mugs. A strong cocoa is about 1/3 ‘shine. You’re drunk off your keister.

          • D. Garrett

“omg! i was giggling out loud! wadaya know”…*staggers with slurred speech

  • davefragments
  • Ninhursag

Oh, no, my poor baby Spooky is injured >.<
