    WHOA!

    • Nice! Go Jakk!

    • Holly

OH MY JELLYBEANS JAKK GOT IT?!

      • Sapfo

Holly, you could not have awakened me?

        • Beautiful… don’t blame Holly. Her legs are broken for tomorrow’s shoot and she couldn’t haul herself to the keyboard fast enough… or I’m sure she would have. XD

          • Sapfo

            But the virgin….
Oh, you make it all better now ^_^
Well she is getting a good luck kick from me 🙂

          • Who could ask for anything more? XD

          • Sapfo

Santa, I been a good Sapfo this year. I only done a minimum of vulgar joke. and hardly any swearing (today). And I never lie. I F * CK promises this!

    • Sapfo

      NOOOO!
Damn you sleep, why do I need you so?

      Congratulations too virgini! ^_^

    • Jamie Dutton

      Congrats Jakk 🙂

  • Is Laampy moved by Kyle’s distress

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I don’t know, but it looks like Kyle may be getting ready to do something.

      • He looks like he’s about to scream.

        • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Well, he better do something or his world is going to be invaded by tons of rampaging demons.

          • Very very true.

          • CH

While preventing the whole thing is ideal it seems unlikely given his inability to actually escape his bonds, but at least when they get back to his world he’ll have help.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Yes, he may not be able to do anything about it. But if he can’t and tons of demons break through to his world and start to kill millions he is going to be indirectly responsible for it. Because by lowering his guard and trusting the Annihilator, he made it happen. So the death of all the people to come are on him.

          • silibub

At this point I think he’ll have to focus his and his team’s energies on preventing Duncan and Sircea from activating the second key — and failing that, find a way to close the door between worlds. Tall order.

      • b3nc0

Would he be able to spit/roar fire?

        • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Hmm I don’t know, but I do hope he can do something and kick some ass. He’s been tied to that bed for 18 pages already.

          • Valja

I swear, if he starts roaring fire, from now on I’ll call him “the Mother of Dragons”.
Ugh, I now have this image stuck in my mind: a Duncan-Drogo making Kyle eat Laampros’ heart and then have him bear his child.
            Mind, stop please.

    • Xalun K

He looks more distressed than moved, to me. Probably because Kyle’s strength seems to be based on his emotional state, and he’s REALLY emotional right now. O_O

    • b3nc0

Could you picture Laampy wiping Kyle’s tears & going: “Aaaw, poor ‘witte’w baby, shh, it’s gonna be a’wwight, I won’t ‘wet the o’wd meanie bother ever again…”

  • CH

That was a bit more abrupt than I expected it to be. A touch more bloody.

  • Amanda

    “No, Daddy!! Don’t do it!”
Yeah I kinda hate myself for that.

  • Summer

At this point, I don’t even know what to say! I just want to see what happens next!!

  • KrisYWC

    OH SNAP!!!!!

  • Poor Duncan, it’s been a while since he’s been manhandled.

    • silibub

No doubt! I’m sure he’s not used to being the one tossed around like a rag doll.

      • Not since he was a boy.

        • Yep… some more recent manhandling might have been good for his DBIR work… arg (again).

          • I kinda feel sorry for him.

          • silibub

Me too. I’m going to stop acting surprised that I sympathize with Duncan and just admit that, yes, I’ve been suckered in by his charm and Alex’s excellent writing. I think we’re supposed to feel a little pang for him despite what he’s done.

          • Just a little pang. 🙂 I think he’s still just that scared little bullied boy. He’s never gotten over it.

          • Maybe that’s the disconnect for the rest of us “scared little bullied boy(s)?” We’ve never gotten over it and it doesn’t seem to matter. (?) So harder for us to feel sympathy for that.

            Just an observation about perception.

          • Xalun K

            Agreed. Completely.

          • No, you’re right. It’s never easy to get over being bullied. I’m not trying to make light of it. Really I’m not.

          • Oh Doll, I know you’re not… just making the point about Duncan’s back story not effecting us all in the same way.

I hate to admit it, but I like D. too and each horrible things he does hurts, because I want him to become a DBIR, but so far that hasn’t been in the cards.

Then I see that last panel on this page and that Kyle-tear of despaired failure and the knives want to come out.

But YOU are not to blame for having a kind heart. 🙂

            Best,
            ChrisD

          • I’m thinking it’s a tear of rage.

But I understand what you’re saying. I’m like that a lot. He needs to get over it already. Needs to grow a pair really.

But at the same time, I see that little boy and I want to hug him. I don’t think he got enough hugs.

          • Steven K.

Yeah – I think you are probably right about that.

          • Steven K.

Well, maybe a little itty bitty teensy tiny bit.

          • See, you’re better than me… I don’t feel that even one tiny bit after seeing Kyle’s face in that last panel.

          • Holly

            Totally on Chris’ side.

          • Oh I think he’s about to bellow and go nuclear.

          • Steven K.

            Ditto to that!!

          • Xalun K

I don’t feel sorry for him so much as I pity him.

          • Yeah there’s a bit of pity there as well.

  • Xalun K

Holy cow, this page is up early!

So, he wrote the contract on Duncan’s arm. That’s… pretty binding. I hope there’s someone *cough*Kyle*cough* who can keep the door closed.

I wonder why Laampros looks so disturbed/concerned by Kyle’s tears? Maybe he’s afraid of what Kyle will be able to do with the strength of emotion he’s conjuring…

    I hate waiting.

  • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Duncan’s face: (CONTINUING BSOD: THIS WASN’T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. SIRCEA DIDN’T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PART. GOD IT BURNS. IT BURNS…. IS MY OWN HAND GOING TO STRANGLE ME IN MY SLEEP SOME NIGHT?)

Laampros: (Hmmm… why does he weep? For this maggot… for fear of Me?…)

Kyle: (This is all my fault.)

Well Dunks, welcome to the land of the unhealable wound. Enjoy the excruciating results. I hope they help you be a better man.

Laampros, is that the face of a metaphysical being about to do something awesome? I think it is.

    Poor Kyle.

    • OUCH. Must think and not reply from the heart or I’ll just get carried away…. arg…

      • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

        *pats Chris*

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Well, in a way it IS Kyle’s fault for trusting the Annihilator. This wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t. So he would be partly responsible for every person that dies in his world as a result of the demons.

      • See, as unfair as that sounds, that is EXACTLY what Kyle would think. Good post Jakk.

        • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Yes he would think that, and I don’t know how he would be able to live with himself. And it may be unfair, life sometimes is, but it’s also true.

          • I know, if I didn’t know he was going to be the hero, I would look at that last expression of his and think…

            “Let me die now…”

            Angst central…

          • Steven K.

For some of us, life is continually unfair, so maybe I identify with Kyle more than would usually be expected.

      • silibub

It’s harsh but true, although it’s really hard to actually judge Kyle given that he was in the perfect position to be manipulated. It’s going to be interesting to see how he deals with it.

      • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I’m pretty sure demons aren’t going to overrun the earth (though I could be wrong). We still have to deal with the Key and Sircea.

Also: Remember his reaction to Duncan’s worded offer was disgust, even if Laampros accepted. He needs to get to Earth, for whatever reason, but it may not be for an invasion as we understand it.

        • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Sonny, I too find it hard to imagine legions of demons overrunning the Earth. Kyle would be responsible for every death. He would have failed as a superhero.

          • I just don’t see it as he failed as a superhero (if demon’s entered our world). Yes, he would probably feel that way, but it’s Duncan’s fault. And Kyle’s only responsibility is not having trusted his team, the Commander.

Failing as a superhero would come only if he didn’t act to help fix things, even with guilt and shame weighing on him.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Admiral Jane, superheroes are supposed to save people not help kill them. So yes, Kyle allowed himself to be put in that position. So every death that comes of it would be his fault. I think that either he will find a way to stop it or that there will be a plot twist. I have nothing against Kyle asking for help or working with others, but even if one single person dies because of his actions then he would be responsible for that death.
Edit. How can you fix people dying? You can’t bring them back. Assuming that does happen, which I doubt.

          • Yes, Superheroes are supposed to save people, but I still don’t think Kyle would be responsible. It’s victim blaming to say it is, and Kyle is a victim here. Kyle might feel it’s his fault, because he did something stupid, but it’s not his fault. No matter how stupid he was for trusting a villain. It’s Duncan’s. Duncan chose an innocent like Kyle because he knew he could manipulate him into just this situation. Yes, I like Duncan, I hope he’s not this big of a dirtbag, but it would be his fault if people die.

If we are going offer some blame, I would go so far as to place it on the other hero teams, on the Commander. Kyle had no clue that villains kept away from heroes until they were 18. Had he known that, (he should have known that) he might have held onto his suspicion longer, especially considering that he was just about to turn 18.

          • Jamie Dutton

That’s a good point, Admiral. Surprised they don’t take them aside when they turn 17 or there abouts and give em a few warnings.
Unless it’s another crappy test to weed out the weak? Or am I being a little pessimistic?

          • It would make sense to me that they would be set down and told the “birds and the bees” within that year or at least within a month of their 18th birthday. Of course they need to be taught caution anyway, but that warning needs to be drummed into their heads, that any level of safety they had is now kaput.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I know that Kyle was duped, and that he was trusting, and that he was desperate to have a relatioship/sex with someone. But he is still a superhero, Admiral. It doesn’t matter how young he is or how innocent. He is a superhero. And it is his responsibility to save people. If he can’t then he’s not a superhero.

          • I think we’re coming at this at two different sides. I agree, he’s a superhero and superheroes save people.

For me, if he doesn’t try to get up and act like the superhero he’s supposed to be, if he wallows in woe is me, maybe and that’s a huge maybe, I’ll hold him a bit responsible. The thing is, he’s already tried to fight when most folks would have gone catatonic. And if he can’t get up, no matter how hard he fights, continues to fight, if he nearly kills himself fighting, I’m not putting the blame on him, I’m just not.

          • Steven K.

            Same here.

          • Hikaru Takemori

If I am understanding this right, Batman would not be a superhero either. In his fight against villains he also played parts in creating them and therefore the death of people.

So I can not agree that all it takes to not be a superhero is to be a link in a causal chain of events that led to people dieing. It would leave very few Superheros.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

The argument that some are making is that Kyle is a helpless victim and that he can’t do it alone and needs help, and therefore not his fault. And mine is that if a “superhero” is a helpless victim and needs others to help him because he can’t, then he’s no superhero. There is nothing wrong with getting help from teammates and other superheroes, but when a superhero finds himself/herself alone and has to act, he/she should. Otherwise he’s neither super or a hero.

          • Hikaru Takemori

I agree with that last part but I wish for you to remember that somethimes ‘acting’ consists of doing nothing(think of it similar to neutral jing from ‘Avatar-The Last Airbender’ http://avatar.wikia.com/wiki/Jing).

          • Totally well said. I thought we were just angsting for what Kyle might be feeling about events and his seeming inability to change them…. but I’m so with you.

          • Most victims do blames themselves, so I’m certain he is and will, but I can’t and won’t.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

He’s a victim because he put himself at risk by trusting the world’s biggest supervillian! AND a nasty sorceress!!! He SHOULD be blaming himself. Who else?

          • He’s not going to blame anyone, but himself…and maybe Duncan (Who as far as I’m concerned is the one truly at fault). But I am not going to blame Kyle. He didn’t have all the facts at his disposal. If he had, he might not have gotten into this mess and even then. I am not going to blame the victim.

I’m going to bow from this conversation because I’m feeling the urge to yell.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

It’s OK Admiral. Obviously we are not going to agree on this. I still like you, though. 🙂

          • Steven K.

Ditto to that point of view.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Sorry, I’ll have to disagree with that Admiral. I’m not blaming everyone around him, but him. He helped create this mess, he needs to take care of it, he needs to act like a superhero and not a helpless victim.

          • Like I said below, I think we’re coming at this at two different sides. The thing is, he’s not acting the helpless victim, he fighting, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a victim.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

OK, let’s say then that he’s not “super” enough. He needs to become stronger. He couldn’t do crap against Duncan before. Duncan was even immune to his fire. So yes, he needs to become much stronger or he’ll continue to be used and abused by Sircea and/or Duncan. I don’t think that they are going to let him go or stop using him if it helps their purposes.

          • Of course he’s going to be the prime focus in clearing up the mess. But he IS the victim, and right now pretty helpless. He was a vulnerable teenage boy with a dreadful past and extreme loneliness with all his secrets and guilt. Duncan knew of this from his research and played him to perfection. We’re talking a 58 year old man and a vulnerable, trusting 17 year old who wanted to see the good in others. Kyle stood no chance.

          • Jakk I get the point you’re making in cold logic about Kyle’s heroic responsibility, but I think David and AJ have said it well for me too. I can’t divorce Kyle’s situation from all the emotion and vulnerability that goes with it. So, it’s certainly a balancing act for me. Which isn’t very provocative, because I’m not totally disagreeing with you. I just see it as a bit of both.

Maybe one way to think of it is that your half is dramaturgical super-hero logic and the other half is vulnerable 18-year-old gay virgin logic and I don’t think you can completely disconnect the two.

            Best,
            ChrisD

          • Steven K.

Agreed. The true evil here is Duncan’s, and the blame falls on him.

          • Steven K.

From empathy to unabashed victim-blaming. Now you seem to be harder on Kyle than anyone. What suddenly made your heart so hard and cold, kiddo? Did some red-head recently do you wrong?

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Steven, I no longer wish to pursue this topic. I’m actually sick of it already, but since you’re always nice to me I’ll answer your post.

It has to do with the possibility that legions of demons would cross over to Kyle’s world and start killing possibly millions or billions of people. I don’t think that is likely to happen, but some have raised that possibility and I was commenting on it.
IF, and that’s a big “if”, it were to happen then it would make Kyle partly responsible for it, and he wouldn’t look much like a superhero. And I don’t care how many excuses are created to explain it.

I think that superheroes can make mistakes, no one is perfect but something of that magnitude would be inexcusable for someone supposed to be a superhero regardless of the excuses. The role of a superhero is to save lives not help destroy half the planet, IF such an event were to happen.

You and others obviously can have different opinions, but that is mine.

Steven, please don’t continue to pursue this particular point with me. I’ve made my opinion clear on this subject and no longer wish to continue commenting on it. If you feel differently about this particular point, then we will agree to disagree about it.

            Big Hug!
            Jakk

          • Steven K.

Sorry – I won’t ask you another thing about it. I actually didn’t expect you to feel that you had to respond – I was actually being more rhetorical than anything else. But thank you for your efforts, especially under the circumstances. I think there are many of us here who have view-points that we are sticking to even if most others seem to disagree or don’t seem to understand, so I know how you feel. So buck up, kiddo, and keep that good heart that I know you have open to possibilities (I know you do that as well – just keep at it).

          • I agree (oddly enough!). Although I am starting to doubt the 18 year rule now – not only its existence but Duncan’s commitment to as its main upholder. Someone who was that committed to it wouldn’t just strike practically the second Kyle was no longer technically a child. It shows a lack of respect for the rule.

I think either Duncan thought it was a fairly plausible to illustrate to Kyle there was some good in him (“I don’t hurt children and I go out of my way to stop others hurting them.”), that he had some principles.

Or it is technically true but Duncan and Sircea came up with it only to stop other supervillains killing the one person they’d been targeting for the last five (or more) years. I would lean more towards that one, particularly in light of Duncan extra line saying how well known it is amongst supervillains that he will take revenge on anyone who hurts/kills the young superheroes.

I think that line was perfectly true. Just not for the reason Kyle was led to believe.

          • Dang… I’m getting soft in my old age. The ‘no-going-after-children-thing’ was one of the things I liked best about Duncan. I think in the absence of hard WoG-ishness, I’m going to keep believing that was sincere, since it makes me happier… LOL… and for no more logical reason than that. HA.

*totters off to go find his cane, the old softy*

          • That’s an interesting point. And a possibility. But I would think it would be remembered a time not to far away (5/6 yrs is easily recalled) when it wasn’t around and then suddenly was. But still an interesting point.

          • b3nc0

Remembered by whom? The only person talking about it ’til now is Duncan, so, if it was BS to sweet-talk Kyle, nobody would have talked about it & if the super-villains were indeed threatened by The Annihilator, why would any of them have talked about it to Kyle or his friends…

          • In the sense that: oh hey, it was five years ago since a villain killed a junior superhero, that’s weird. Hey don’t you think that’s weird that the supervillains haven’t killed any Jrs lately.

          • Steven K.

            Good points!

          • Steven K.

I agree with you completely on all of this.

          • Steven K.

            Ditto.

  • silibub

Hmm! I’m curious what Laampros intends to do with Kyle — it certainly seems like he’s considering something in the last panel.

And can I assume that it is not good for Duncan that Laampros has just gone ahead and sealed their contract with a blood sigil, because if he fails to follow through on his bargain there are bound to be really nasty repercussions. And what with Kyle’s newfound strength, Duncan’s probably going to have a harder time activating the key on Earth than he originally thought. We know what’s at stake for Kyle and everyone else on Earth, but I wonder what the stakes are for Duncan and Sircea now that they’re bound to fulfill this contract.

  • Oh god the look on Kyle’s face ;_;

    • Agreed. Hard to take. Without the WoG, I read it as, “let me die now”, but with the WoG, I read it as I’m going to go nuclear and take you all with me.

      Hope.

Edit: I’m not sure for what exactly.

      • Yes, I would say he was about to go nuclear.

      • We need him back on earth before that happens. I hope he can control himself from big outbursts until then.

  • silibub

I’d say Laampros is going to confer some kind of power on Kyle to make things interesting, but then again that could prevent Laampros from being able to cross over to Earth, and I doubt he’d risk sacrificing such a sweet prospect for the promise of a little entertainment…. Gah, the unpredictability is wonderful, but maddening!

  • TwilightDreamer

YOUCH!! Now that’s a painful way to seal a deal…
    aaww, Kyle….*cuddles*…..please don’t hurt him, please don’t hurt him…!! ><…
Then again, after that display of strength, Lammpros might want to make sure he doesn't try to interfere with the so called deal….*shivers*
    Yay for updates! 😀

  • Love the two panels where Laampros slams his forearm against Duncan’s sealing the deal, and then tosses him aside like yesterday’s news… so already forgotten. Well portrayed.

Alex, Adam, Veronica… another beautiful page. Thank you…

    • Xalun K

Oh definitely, many many props to the creators!

Also, I hadn’t even thought about the way he just tossed him… that definitely speaks volumes about what Laampros thinks of people, Duncan in particular, and that deal.

    • Yes, Thank you!

    • You’re of course very welcome. I’m glad you like the little sequence there. 🙂

  • Holly

ugh i’m still up and i missed the virgin. this is silly

    • HA

      • Holly

        chris hates me T-T

        • HA… not even a teensy tiny bit!

          • Holly

So I got really horrible ill on Sunday. I feel like this is some how your fault Dangerfield!

        • Sapfo

Holly, do you have a broken leg o.O

I thought it was your brother who was the wild one. What have you done?

It is a theatre saying, dearest Swedish one.

It is bad luck to tell an actor good luck. So one of the saying in English is “Break a Leg”

          • Sapfo

And then you are in the Spider-man the musical and break more then a leg… Right?

          • Holly

            ….No.

          • Sapfo

            Good!
No broken legs on my Holly!

          • Holly

Well of course. Its just a saying…

    • Well, no hunt today. I woke early from my set nap and was awake from 1.30 am to around 3.50 where I decided to doze a little instead of just getting up since I was awake. My clock rang at 4.20 (because I actually had the feeling the page would be early) and haven JUST fallen asleep I hit the snooze a couple times before actually getting up.
The page was up just before 4.30 >.> I should listen to myself more *lol*

      • Sapfo

        Sleep, that treacherous thing! >_<

This would have been the first camp in my new apartment. With poor internet connectivity 😉

  • Holly

This is such an amazing page. I mean the carving of the runes, how easily Lampy tosses Ducan away. But my favorite is the last panel.

Kyle straining with tears in his eye and Laampros eyeing him curiously. THAT is amazing.

    • So amazing… “what is that tear thing?”

    • Adam Irving

Thanks, I’d missed the tears the first time around! Probably not eye sweat. What? It’s a hot place!

    • Thank you. Yep, Adam did a great job of capturing the subtlety of what’s going on there. 🙂

  • Adam Irving

A nice series of panels. Or maybe more correctly, *another* nice series of panels! Good art, good story, leaving us hanging for more! 🙂

    • Thank you, Adam! I’m glad you’re finding The Young Protectors engaging! 🙂

  • I’m kinda worried about the look Laampy is giving Kyler in the last panel.
He might ‘just’ be about to say something snarky and mean, but being focused on by Big Red.. nope, I wouldn’t want to be in that situation.

I don’t know if I’m hoping that Kyle is about to do something big and awesome next, or if I want him to not be too noticable right now until they at least are back on planet earth.
Big and awesome would be good, but I really think he’s gonna need a little back-up here.

    • Oh, I so wan’t big and awesome… but the chains pulled him down so easily that I fear despair… emo-page for me for sure.

      • Steven K.

        I’m right there with you.

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

If Kyle does not act now, he will be responsible for every person that dies because he helped create this mess. How do you think Kyle will feel knowing that?

      • The chihuahua has teeth… OUCH.

      • That’s why I kinda want him to react now.. but thinking logical it’s probably better to wait.

He’s in a strange dimension, he’s outnumbered and he might not have the strength to take them down alone, even if he goes all nuclear.
This could result in him being left there for a while, more or less injured (we know he won’t die) and he’s the only one who can alert and warn every hero/normal human on earth right now about what it is they’re facing. Which could save lives now that this HAS happened.

The thing is, I don’t think Kyle is anywhere near thinking logic right now, so going nuclear right now could actually be a bad thing.

        • Jakk Anthony Guzman

He can’t wait, if the door is opened demons will pour through it and then it would be too late. He can’t be running to his friends for help to solve a problem he created. And in the meantime people would be dying. What kind of a superhero would he be if he has to go running around asking for help (help me, help me!)? What kind of a superhero would he be if he allows possibly millions to die because of something he helped create? Superheroes are supposed to save the world not help destroy it.

          • I have no trouble with Kyle asking for help…

I don’t see him allowing millions to die… I think he’d die first.

            Just sayin’

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

If people start to die because of him, then it’s partly his fault and he would have failed as a superhero.

          • stickfigurefairytales

I have a question about one part of your argument that I’m hoping you could clarify. I think you are saying that a character has failed as a superhero if people die as a result of something that the superhero indirectly caused or which could have been prevented had the hero taken different actions. Do you view this as an absolute rule (i.e., if any innocent person is killed under these circumstances, the superhero is a failure), or is it dependent on the hero’s subsequent actions? That is, while I’m assuming you still view any deaths as at least partly the superhero’s responsibility (and thus a failure in that particular case), do you believe it is possible for the superhero to redeem him/herself overall?

To me personally, I think that it becomes very difficult to hold to this as an absolute when looking at superhero stories (especially long-running series), since pretty much every superhero could be viewed as culpable under this criteria at one time or another. Spider-Man and the criminal who wound up killing his Uncle Ben is a classic example, but all the superheroes I can think of have made mistakes of one sort or another that ultimately made it possible for a supervillain to kill people. I do understand how the complete destruction of humanity would clearly constitute failure on a hero’s part, but do you feel that the failure to protect one person from a situation partially made possible due to the hero equates with that superhero being a failure overall?

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Because you took the time to write this long post I’ll answer it. I was tired of debating it.
No I don’t think it’s absolute. Superheroes are human and can make mistakes, no one is perfect.
But yes, my point was with the possible massive destruction of lives. The deaths of millions or billions is no small thing, and I find it hard to call someone a superhero if such an outcome were to happen.
Some believe that it’s not going to happen that way. That Sircea and Duncan have a plan to capture Laampros when he crosses over to the other side. I certainly hope that there is some plot twist like that, otherwise I would feel very sorry for Kyle. I don’t know how he would be able to live with himself knowing that he helped create such a catastrophic event.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Thank you for answering me! I appreciate it.

Since Alex has previously stated (in both the Kickstarter and in the commentary for page 32) that this webcomic “is about Kyle learning to become one of the most powerful champions the world has ever known,” my guess is that the death toll will not reach the level of millions or billions (hopefully!), though I agree with you that should Laampros and his army get into our world, people are probably going to start dying. How many exactly, only Alex knows for sure.

          • Steven K.

Well, if I were God sitting in judgement for all those deaths, I wouldn’t be holding Kyle to blame. Again, it’s not mostly his fault ultimately. He still might feel like that, and he has some responsibility or duty to help correct things or repair the damage that he had a part in facilitating, but he doesn’t bear the ultimate blame.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

And who said that Kyle shouldn’t ask for help? All I’m saying that the moment demons cross over people will start dying and Kyle will responsible for each and everyone. So the best thing to do is to stop that from happening before it starts. IF demons cross over. There could be a plot twist or two.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Or… the Key opens and Laampros gets stuck in a prison Sircea made for him. Oh he’s on Earth alright, so the deal sticks, but he can’t DO anything. Sircea doesn’t have a mark on her arm, so it’s Dunks who’d suffer from that. Not that Sircea would care.

Teamwork is frequently a theme in superhero stories, about banding together to face a larger foe.

          • What kind of superhero would he be if he goes all self-guilt and ‘egoistic’ by not asking for help if he really needs it? – and it result in millions dying because they don’t know what’s coming and why?

Is it being a superhero if you allow your guilt to make you selfish?

The deal has been struck. Wether or not Duncan and Sircea has some kind of twist to it with Big L is still to be seen.
(Edit: I’m not saying he shouldn’t react now, because something needs to be done, but I doubt he can do it all alone)

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

You are assuming that people are going to start dying much later. The moment they enter Kyle’s world they will try and gain control. How long do you think it will take them to stop Laampros and his forces? Days? Weeks? Years? People will start to die right away, all because of Kyle. Yes, the people will know it’s coming the moment the demons cross over. Laampros won’t be easy to stop.Yes, there could be a twist in the story, but If people die, then Kyle will be responsible for it. You can’t ignore that.

          • Jamie Dutton

Well Alex only WOG’d that Kyle wouldn’t die…not the couple of billion ppl on his planet.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I hope not. I don’t think that Alex is going to make Kyle feel responsible for the death of millions or billions of people. Either Kyle will stop them or there will be a twist to the story.

          • Steven K.

            Hope so.

          • I don’t know if you saw my edit on the comment: ‘I’m not saying he shouldn’t react now, because something needs to be done, but I doubt he can do it all alone’.

I’m not assuming that people won’t die right away. What I AM saying is that Kyle reacting big time now could be both good and bad..

Yes, he should probably react now, and I want him to do something, but he’s still in a place where I doubt Kyle is the strongest around. That power level his emotions just brought on seems to be new, but he’s still in a weak position.
Unless Kyle breaks loose (before D. and L reacts) and flat out kill Duncan and/or destroy the key then that ‘door’ is gonna be opened no matter what.
Kyle created this mess, but he’s still the only one in a position to warn the other superheroes (I’m sure there’s some alarmsystem they have).
People are gonna die. Kyle is guilty in being a part of creating this. This comic is Kyle’s time developing into a true superhero, but a true hero should also know that strenght comes in numbers, so if you’re too weak to handle something yourself, you ask for help. And where is that help? Back on earth.

On emotional plan, I’m all ‘go for it’, try and stop them, break loose and fight them now and risk getting left behind and/or injured while all hell breaks loose on earth. Could stop the evil plas for a while.
Logic say it’s smarter to wait, escape, suck it up and go to your friends, tell what goes on and fight back in numbers more even.
Storywise I hope for both, and then I can’t wait to see what twists Alex got up in his sleeves. If Anni and PP are gonna try and double-cross Big L. that could go both ways, and that binding between L. and D. could become a troublesome twist later if they do.
There’s going to be an epic fight(s) in this comic. Question is between who and how.

          • I don’t know why I feel like Spooky gets involved soon, but I do. (?) Just sayin’ I don’t think Kyle stays alone forever…

Edit: Or someone… I just like Spooky and he’s been mentioned… but it could certainly be someone else. Kyle is too young to be alone on this journey forever… IMHO.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

And what makes you think that Duncan or Sircea are going to let him go so that he can warn his friends? They could have other plans to use Kyle too. I think that there are three possibilities here.

He will stop the plan to cross over, or Sircea and Duncan have a trap for Laampros, or Laampros doesn’t want to take over the Earth and has other plans himself. But if people start to die then Kyle will be responsible for every single death.

          • Steven K.

Again, remember who the villain is and who the victim is. ALL because of Kyle? No – most of the blame still needs to rest on Duncan (and Sircea and Laampros).

      • Steven K.

Well, I’m still not going to blame all that directly on him -r even say that he is indirectly the one responsible – it’s still Duncan who is ultimately to blame for that – but I’m sure Kyle’s emotions may be making him feel like he’s responsible – and hence his weeping as my heart breaks for him.

  • Tina

Oooh what a lovely present to come home to after a rough day at work. And just wow. I love all the small details in this page. The first two panels are almost painful to look at. I know from work getting a cut on top of a burn is like fire and ice biting into the wound at once so Duncan must not be too comfortable right now.

And call me a sadist, well I am… but that’s beside the point, but I love the little tear in Kyle’s eye. Personally I think that’s not a tear of pain but one of regret. In his mind he must be thinking he’s failed.

He’s failed as a junior super hero to protect the world and there’s nothing he can do about it right now.

Gah! Can we say with clocks falling back an hour the page oh I dunno, appears on Monday? *big kitten eyes*

    • You go with those kitten eyes girl!

    • I’m thinking it’s more a tear of rage. Yes, it’s a tear of rage. I won’t believe anything else

      • Tina

Well maybe a tear of regret and the gnashing teeth of rage. Careful Kyle, grit your teeth any harder and they might shatter

        • Those teeth are definitely gnashing in rage

          • Gnash, Kyle… Gnash!!!

          • Tina

Maybe his gnashing will keep Lampy away!

        • Steven K.

Yeah – I’d agree with that – the tear from regret and feelings of failure and helplessness.

  • I think we can agree that this officially qualify Kyle’s birthday in the Top10 of Worst Birthday Ever in comic history.

Should probably narrow that down to a Top 5.

    • Xalun K

Considering this is his 18th – so he’s legally an adult – and getting royally fucked because of it, I’d say it has to be *the* worst.

      • Yup.. I can’t remember having read any comics with a worse birthday, but I didn’t want to say it was #1 in case someone HAS read something that went worse.

        • Yukiness

Officially the second worst birthday in comics i’ve ever read. The first still goes to Ceres because no one knows how to repeatedly drive over your feels organ with a tank fueled by angst like Yuu Watase

          • Hikaru Takemori

Ayashi no Ceres? Yes, that birthday sucked hard.

          • melanie powers

Especially since she was only 16.

      • b3nc0

Excuse me, good Lady, but I do believe Duncan didn’t go that far ;°p

        • Xalun K

You might have a point, but fucking, my friend, doesn’t necessarily have to be penetration. 😉

  • davefragments

Kyle knows more about his powers than he’s let on. Either that or he suspects that he can do certain rather amazingly destructive things if he truly unleashes them. Consider that he’s just turned 18 and only masturbated once (burnt the house down). He must have those powers under control.

The next pages are his to act out.

  • Soubi

Well, looks like Anni will be the one testing the limits of human flesh, heh.

  • Maybe Big Red is sensing the rise in power of Kyle. And he’s going WTF?

    • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I think it’s a combination of that and unfamiliar emotions too. I imagine Laampros has seen mostly jerks pop up in his dimensional pocket in his time. Here’s this honest, good youth right there— and he’s weeping. Why? I imagine it’s a little fascinating. Especially if he knows that Kyle is something other than human. Laampros may have never wept, but here’s someone a little like him… weeping. What is that like?

      • Good point. Unfamiliar emotions can mess up folks big time. And definitely intriguing.

      • What a wonderful comment! Beautifully said and some great food for thought. Thanks, Sonny.

      • Jamie Dutton

Heck, emotional stuff is hard to deal with even for those of us who are used to them!

      • I love character thinking like that.

  • WarGoddess

Don’t cry Kyle! You’ll get your chance to save the day!!! 😀

    • I do believe in Red Hot, I do, I do!

      • Dokidokibaka

I love this and it made me laugh (sorry I think that scene in Peter Pan is both hilarious and moving). If we get enough people chanting it, it should work right?

        • Jamie Dutton

          I believe!

        • I was hoping the reference would be understood 🙂

Come on everyone say it with me.

I do believe in Red Hot, I do, I do!

          • Dokidokibaka

I do believe in Red Hot, I do, I do!

          • b3nc0

I do believe in Red Hot, I do, I do!

        • Clap if you believe in Red Hot!

          • *clapping* I do believe in Red Hot, I do, I do!

          • b3nc0

            *THUNDERING HOUSE-SHATTERING CLAP*

  • Platos_Redhaired_Stepchild

Duncan looks like he’s having some second thoughts about this. I think Laampy is looking around for the key rather than at Kyle. I have a feeling that ignoring Kyle will be a big mistake.

    • I’m wondering if he didn’t know that Laampy would mark him in such a manner. I mean, that this isn’t going the way he thought it would at all.

      • Jamie Dutton

From what we know of Sircea, I sincerely doubt she’d tell Captain Jackass there all the little unnecessary details.
And I really, really, really hope that hurts, cause dangit, Alex made me cry again!

        • Considering that the mark was drawn on the arm Kyle bbq’d, I’d say yeah, it hurt and more than just his ego and pride and self-worth. He might be wanting to crawl into a hole and disappear.

And yes, especially if Sircea is set to double cross him

          • Jamie Dutton

I’m guessing that Laampuru-kun there has a few demonic monkey wrenches to toss into their little plans as well.

          • That should be interesting to see.

          • Jamie Dutton

Looking at the first 2 panels, I’m wondering if Laampuuru-kun chose to mark his burnt arm so that it won’t heal properly even with Anni’s healing factor and whatever else he’s supposed to get later?

          • Make certain he won’t ever forget. They used to do that when knights took their oaths. Well, not this, but strike them hard in the face after the oath so they would remember. Or something like that. Plus a bit of sadism

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Yup on the knights. After an entire night underdressed, unfed, and unwatered on their knees in a stone chapel in the dark– contemplating their swords and spurs and what they meant. Suffer for your honor used to the be way of it.

          • Male bonding (from Knighthood to Fraternities) has always involved power exchange, pain and humiliations. Thus you become one of us…

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Yup. Earn your right to be our brother.

          • Duncan certainly ain’t going to forget. Fool though is suffering because of his dishonor, which really is the proper way of it.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

There’s an old saying of sorts that says something to the effect of– “We only strike at those we care about. If we care nothing at all, the effort is too much and our arms engaged in other matters.”

          • That’s an interesting way of looking at it. That would be why we yell at our children, lecture those who are friends and family for being stupid.

          • Jamie Dutton

Gibbs-slapping them upside their heads out of love, right?

          • Exactly so! I love Gibbs and his slaps!

          • Oh, I like that quote. Saving it.

I believe it’s corollary too, you can’t hurt me if I don’t care about you… thus I invite you inside my heart’s castle walls and ‘make myself vulnerable’ to you.

  • dereule101

*Has a full-on Toddlers & Tiaras tantrum* Noooo!!!

I’m curious to know what the glyphs on Laampros’ arm signify, or rather why he had to transfer the marks from Duncan’s arm to his own.

    • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

It’s said in certain folklore that every angel is marked somewhere with their own real name, given to them by god. When one makes a pact with a mortal, the name is used.

      http://www.steliart.com/angel_images/angelic%20script.jpg

Some examples can be seen here. I think Laampros just signed his name on Dunks’ arm and then “set the sigil” by holding it up to his name mark.

  • TheManBehindTheCurtain

    Let’s see:
    1) Anni’s new immortality is tied toLaampros’s power so now the two of them are connected. The link could work both ways and now Laampros may be feeling what Anni felt for Kyle. Either way that’s an odd look on his face.
    2) Kyle certainly looks like he feels he has failed completely. However, while he cannot move on that slab any more, will he be able to control his powers and stop Anni’s return to the real world? Would he be able to incinerate himself and trap Anni there?

All we can do is wait till the next page.

  • Jamie Dutton

Such a beautiful page and so friggin angst-ridden! Dangit, Alex has me in tears again!
I think I need more tea, before I dive into the comments.
*wanders off with a box of tissues in one hand and an empty Tardis mug in the other*

    • Wow… there is such comfort in knowing others (like yourself) deal with these pages similarly… tea & tissue (Tardis for sure). 🙂

    • Steven K.

I know. Tell me about it.

  • Ellen Harman

We all know that if this goes through then Kyle is going to blame himself for everything. He trusted the wrong person to not have an alternate plan going on. This is definitely going to get alot worse. Remember Artifice they were facing death throughout the entire book, and we don’t really know if they made it out, we all just assume that they do because we want the happy ending. Remember not all endings are happy, I have actually read at least two books where they kill off one of the main characters at the end. It must be because yeaterday was Halloween that is making me morbid. Sorry :

I am also beginning to think there will be no getting together fot Kyle with anyone til the last chapter.

  • Dokidokibaka

I just want to offer a few thoughts here.

    1) The way Laampros worded things after the contract was “signed”, Duncan is not in a good situation. Really smart of Laampros though. Duncan doesn’t get ANY of the things he asked for UNLESS he gets Laampros into their world. Duncan cannot just go back and take his time opening the door Laampros. If he wants what he is asking for he is going to have to open the door as soon as he can once he gets back. As clever as Duncan and Sircea were in wording their wants, I feel Laampros out maneuvered them.

    2) For some supposed bad ass villain, The Annihilator sure is being a big pussy. He is supposed to be an evil mastermind right? He seems to have forgotten a lot of things. As soon as he got to hell he doesn’t seem to be using his head much. He has shown so much intelligence and cunning before this, did he leave all that behind when he entered hell? Right now all I can do is see him as a pathetic has been. I don’t even feel sympathy for him, all can feel is “serves him right”. His posture in the last panel I feel is unbecoming of a villain. If a villain is going to act like a little baby he should do it in his lair and not in front of a demon and a hero.

    3) I went and checked the last page just to be certain, but it looks like Kyle’s body is surrounded by flame. Laampros, Dunca, and Kyle are in a relatively flame free circle, so if there was a flame outline with his body, it would be on the other side, not the side facing the villains. I think the only reason that there isn’t flame on the chin area as well is so that we can see Duncan being pathetic….staring at his shaking arm with bugged out eyes. So once again Kyle is getting his flame on despite his restraints being renewed just a moment ago.

    4) Now that things are done with the baka Duncan, Laampros seems to have turned his attention to Kyle. I have a feeling that Laampros might be a little bit more respectful in dealing with Kyle….possibly. He has shown in interest in Kyle’s sexy body, which he might have played with just for the heck of it. Kyle has also managed to impress him which Duncan certainly has NOT. I am not saying that he will treat Kyle well, but he seems like he might be inclined to treat him better than he did Duncan. Laampros definitely hasn’t looked at Kyle the he has at Duncan. Towards Duncan there are looks of contempt, boredom, condescension, etc. Kyle gets looks of interest, curiosity, and a bit of lust there at the beginning.

    5) I have seen posts commenting on Kyle’s expression in the last panel and I just want say that it seems like one of anguish and regret.

Sorry this post is do long.

    • Platos_Redhaired_Stepchild

Duncan seems shocked that “crossing the walls of blood and pain” actually require, ya know, blood and pain. Sheesh! What a doofus!

      • Jamie Dutton

Maybe he was under the impression that it wouldn’t be HIS blood and pain?

        • I think that is particularly and apt observation regarding a man who hasn’t felt much ‘blood or pain’ in a very very long time (’cause he’s so very strong you know… he monologued it so…)

    • Jamie Dutton

Very good points to bring up, Dokidoki!

    • Regarding thought #2, I would offer that Duncan got a little excited that he would finally get what he wanted. It’s also possible, that he never expected to like Kyle (at least as an individual), which has messed up his rhythm. I mentioned several pages back, that Duncan was playing the long con and managed to get caught in his own game.

      • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Or Sircea has been the brains behind it all along.

        • Dokidokibaka

…..I can see that. She has pretty much been in the shadows….a great place for a puppeteer.

          • Dark shadows…

          • Steven K.

            I love that show.

          • Jamie Dutton

Pulling the strings and making them dance!

        • Yes, and she ill prepared him. And if he is ill-prepared, then just a drop of emotion would really knock him for a loop

          • Well a drop of emotion that Sircea (if Sonny’s suppositions are correct) couldn’t foresee because she doesn’t have the capacity to fall in love… thus she’s blind to it’s power. (?)

          • Seems about right to me.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Greek Circe murdered her first husband because he was boring, more or less, and then everything she did to her kids… and Odysseus… and yeah… it just gets worse. So yeah, I think she’d be pretty incapable of human feeling— if that carries, there’s no reason that Sircea would have figured that Duncan would feel anything for Kyle (her baby statements). The fact she suspected he did later may have been one of the reasons she burned him. He was proven weak and thus useless to her now.

          • I repeat… Sonny, even with the mind reading challenge. Stick with the Commander. You’ll have a better Bi-time and if you can get Duncan redeemed you’ll have a fearsome three-way. LOL.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I think the Commander would be furious with me if I suggested that. She strikes me as a proud woman. That would be a long, long talk, with lots of honest “I respect you” involved. I’d hope the Commander understood my desire for hot silver bears though… Otherwise…damn. I’d have to choose and hope she didn’t kill me. Redeemed Duncan would win at the moment. Not only would I be proud as hell of him, but I would -at that point- know him better. And he couldn’t fry my brain if he got angry with me. Being lobotomized for the rest of my days would be worse than being dead.

But have my cake and eat it too? Yeah, I’d do a threeway and have the Commander mind-link us all while it was going on… pleasure from all angles, directions, the strangeness of Duncan’s near numbness, the peculiar new sensations of a woman’s body… yeah… um… give me about ten minutes…

          • LOL…. go with that last paragraph. That first one is only going to lead to too many nights super-hero/villainless… 🙂

          • Steven K.

I know there has been a lot of speculation on if Duncan really is gay, but we don’t really have a lot of evidence to prove that he’s NOT, or even that he’d go in for some bi-action.

        • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Their conversation in the alley seems to indicate that Dunks is the tactician in most respects, and anything else is Sircea’s department. Do I think she’s been playing him– OHHHH YES. For a very, very long time. I think he knows it too, I just don’t think he ever thought it would be quite this bad when she burned him. The fact I don’t think the burn is nearly over with makes me hurt for Duncan— he thinks he’s suffering now? Wait till the rest of it comes out.

          • Agreed. I’m going to feel really bad for him in the end and won’t that be bitter irony. Humph!

          • Steven K.

I still think they are pretty-much equal partners, because they actually care about one-another due to their shared history and blood-ties as brother and sister. I can see Sircea being one of the few true friends he had in his youth, supporting him when no one else would through all of the teasing and bullying due to his orientation, then spurring him to fight back and get even, etc.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

From their conversation in the alley, he seems to be a willing participant. He doesn’t look coerced. She tells him: “What you suspected seems at least possible”. That seems to indicate that he’s working with her.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

He *is* working with Sircea. Whether or not he’s coerced remains to be seen. Lots of different ways to coerce someone– particularly if she’s got some kind of mystical chemical shit involved (as Circe did). All we know is that he suspected something having to do with Kyle that involves Solomon– meaning angel/devil and extremely old magic. That makes him the hunter/tactician in their partnership, which I can see easily– despite what we’ve seen when Dunks has an overload, he’s a very smart man.

Besides Circe would want her slave to do the bulk of the unpleasant work– why shouldn’t Sircea?

          • All good, albeit disturbing, points.

          • Yeah, but to both Jakk & Sunny, I’d also observe that that last evil (Sircea looking into camera, pg49) line makes me think Duncan can be tactician all he wants as long as he’s acting out her plan… so would we know what was him and what ‘might’ be her at THAT point?

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I’m thinking it’s all her plan. I’m not sure what you mean by “what was him and …” If it’s her plan then he is working for her. I don’t think he’s being coerced (in an obvious way), he probably has ideas and is willingly helping her.

          • Mebbe?

I edited to add a word. I meant, at this point, how can we know ‘what’ is her and ‘what’ is him? Personally, I have no idea.

          • Steven K.

            I agree.

          • Adam Black

Thats …a stretch. There is no reason to pre-emptively make Duncan a victim.

            probably not ever.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Not that much of a stretch, if the other theories hold. Particularly Circe/Sircea.

Victim is too strong a word– most of this shit Dunks brought on himself. Doesn’t mean I can’t wince for him.

          • I’m sorry Sonny, but yes it actually does. ‘Wincing’ is forbidden in this case. The most you can legitimately do is shake your head ruefully.

            Sorry.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

If I shake my head that hard it might fall off.

          • Adam Black

Circe is an interesting hypothesis, but i doubt it will be more than an homage. too close would give the plot away.

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circe_%28comics%29

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

All we can do is wait and see. *shrug* Right or wrong isn’t going to stop me from spinning theories unless Alex tells me to go sit on my hands somewhere. More comic = more information to draw from.

          • Adam Black

            Spin away…

          • Steven K.

Right – unless he’s a victim of his own pride and his immovable ways and unwillingness to give in to his deeper feelings and inclinations.

      • I wouldn’t have recognized this before, but you may be right. Emotion can certainly throw one off their stride and effect a complex long-game. It might have here too?

        • It’s a possibility, because his stride does seem off.

      • Dokidokibaka

Oh I am mostly certain he does feel something for Kyle, I mean even for a superhero Kyle is still pretty pure (and darkness is often attracted to light). However, he should have handled Laampros inspecting him a little better. Could have worded things in a way were Laampros did NOT realize that Kyle was a potential weak link for him.

        • True, which is why I think Duncan was off his game. Up until then, he had been pretty smooth.

        • Steven K.

I do like that notion. I’m glad someone is more convinced that he does feel something for Kyle. I’m not convinced yet, and I have no doubt whatsoever that Kyle would NEVER suspect that right now.

    • rgleon9986

      1) One should never be surprised when one is outmaneuvered by an immortal being of evil. Such beings have been making deals such as these for much longer than any mortal, and even if they aren’t particularly clever, thousands of years of experience adds up.

2)I agree with Admiral Jane that Duncan seems to be off his mental and physical game right now; he does seem weaker, physically here. Also, the thing about Superheroes with Super-durability is… they’re not used to pain. Remember that Duncan either didn’t know about or was VERY surprised to see the power dampening device used by Tweedle-dee and -dum. Most likely, then, he hasn’t experienced their effects very often. This means it’s possible that he hasn’t experienced pain the way a mortal does for… decades. He didn’t even FEEL Kyle’s flames earlier. That’s a pretty high level of endurance/invulnerability. If you’ve seen the end of “Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog,” you know that Captain Hammer runs off like a little baby when he gets thrown across the room and hurt by the explosion of a Death Ray, because it’s (presumably) the first time he’s felt pain. I quote: ” Oh, I’m in pain. I think this is what pain feels like.:” Duncan might not have felt pain in quite some time, and is having a hard time dealing with it.

      • Dokidokibaka

        1) No matter how long a life or how much experience, that doesn’t make people or beings smart. Some people make the same mistakes no matter how many times they have done it before.
Laampros’s comment to Duncan…. I see it as a subtle way of telling him he is screwed. Once in the “human” world there are many ways he can screw Duncan over just for the heck of it. Laampros seems to have been lacking in entertainment and I can see him making Duncan a toy. In fact, I kind of look forward to it.

        2) Yeah, but he is still in a relatively dangerous situation, he should not be feeling relaxed enough to freak out. Freaking out about pain is not something one should do in hell. If he was freaking out in front of Laampros in his own home or even on his home plane, I would be a lot more forgiving of it.
Right now, I am having a hard time even qualifying Duncan as a villain. Not saying he is a good guy, but….he is really giving off the “henchman” vibe. Not like generic henchman, but like the opposite of a hero’s sidekick…..lackey?

    • Not too long at all. Great post. Thanks.

    • Steven K.

Yes – anguish, regret, anger, frustration, fear, helplessness, etc.

  • Sapfo

Laampros took his chance to quickly carry out the agreement with Duncan. But his thoughts on Kyle are hard to tell.

Wonder if Duncan knew about how the deal would be implemented. Blood is important, it’s life, it is what gives us strength.

    • I don’t think Duncan was as prepared as he thought he was.

      • Sapfo

Laampros is all about the surprises. His partner comes home tired after work and then he have cooked a three course menu and have candles on the table. And all the laundry is done!

Oh, that was probably my secret fantasy. Nothing is as erotic as newly made laundry

        • Jamie Dutton

          frilly apron?

          • Sapfo

Well you should not show to much 🙂

          • As long as it’s backless… I’m okay. 🙂

          • Sapfo

            But of course ^_^

          • Jamie Dutton

He does have one fine swing in his backyard…for a demon anyway!

        • Oh the laundry. Now that would get someone a lot of wet kisses.

      • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I think Sircea lied to him on purpose. We see how he prepares normally. She wanted him to screw up.

        • I like this theory.

        • A very good theory. He must be in deep, because from the get go the plan hasn’t gone exactly as well planned. Especially after the screw up in Hong Kong.

          • I thought Hong Kong was a plan to gain Kyle’s trust? Did I misunderstand?

          • Oh it was, but even Duncan said, Hong Kong got away from him. I don’t think he was expecting the dampener. Or he thought he would put up a better showing. Something went wrong there.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

            I agree. 🙂

          • Steven K.

What AJ said below, and the fact that he got hurt – I don’t think that was supposed to happen.

          • Got it.

          • Jamie Dutton

hmm, we never did find out where H&K got their shiny silver, doohickey, now did we?

          • No we have not.

  • Slightly surprised look on Laampros on face is slightly surprised.

I love this. Kyle looks so torn. I feel so bad for him.

  • jreed3842

Look at the way Laampy looks at Kyle… What is he thinking? He almost looks sympathetic towards Kyle, but I’m pretty sure an evil demon lord won’t take sympathy on some guy crying… I’M READY FOR THE NEXT PAGE NOW!

  • Honestly, Alex, that look on Laampros’ face when he sees Kyle and his tear of despair and fury is perfectly killer. It could mean anything at all. From: What? – Uh oh? – Foolish mortal. — anything at all. That look is the brilliant cliffhanger from which this page hangs. I think you are a very good artist and a very naughty man!

Hey… is it Weds yet? (oh and we better get that page paid for or I’m calling everyone personally. LOL)

    • jreed3842

You can believe that if I had money… we’d already have reached the goal 5 times. Haha. If I had the money, I’d definitely be donating!

    • It is such a curious look. He is contemplating something. :3

    • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

If Christmas wasn’t so close and my family so huge, I would help, Chris. Right now I’m stuck between bills and presents.

      • Screw that (LOL) I have you on auto dial… there’s that Aunt you never liked anyway…. 😀

        • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

          XD

    • Well, I just donated what I could afford to.

    • Steven K.

I’m still waiting to chip in. If it’s going to be a page where Kyle is just going to be hurt or tortured even more – or worse – I don’t feel like I want to have been one to contribute to that (and not even sure I want to see it – would be pretty unbearable for me right now). So I’ll let the rest of you take the fall for that.

      • No no SK… I’m SURE *crosses fingers* that’s it’s a page where Kyle rises like a phoenix to triumph over the forces of darkness, grows a ginger goatee, shows off his pits for you and I, and grows a treasure trail to lead us to the land of promise… XD

        Would I lie?

*chris looks around to see if anyone is buy his used car act*

        • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Tsk. You’re supposed to be in recovery.

          • Ahahahahahahahahaahcoughcough…. aren’t you asleep yet? You’re supposed to be asleep. XD

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Jokes on you! I rarely sleep! MWAHAHAHAAA!

          • LOL… that seems the perfect note on which to say G’nite all. It’s been much more than fun. 🙂

            Best,
            ChrisD

          • Sapfo

            Good night Chris!

          • Goodnight Chris.

Suddenly I feel like I’m on Romper Room… man, I just aged myself.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

            I remember Romper Room.

          • We can be aged together…haha.

I always wanted my name called. And now I think she was just making it up as she goes along.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I shall give you my arm, madam, and we shall stroll about the park if you wish. Feed the pigeons. Make fart noises behind our hands when the whippersnappers bend over? Otherwise, I do have an extra helmet and jacket. We could hop on my bike and rumble past them with not a single f— given…

Yeah, I don’t think she ever called mine either. Not that I heard anyway.

          • I’ll take that helmet and jacket thank you. 🙂 Whippersnappers thinking I’m old.

I used to feel bitter that I didn’t have a more popular name. And very envious of those cup things they used to walk around on.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Well, in my case I think the lingering red scare had something to do with it. Slavic names, not all that popular. They wanted good, ‘merican! names on television back then.

I loved Mr. Do-Bee. I still have a thing for bees because of him.

          • I see Susie and Billy and Bobby and… Yeah, not amongst there at all. But yeah, I can’t recall hearing a name that deviated outside of those names.

But according to Wikipedia, my name is around #4900 in popularity.

For some reason Mr Do-Bee escapes me. I think it was mostly that mirror and so wanting my name called that stuck with me. Although on a quick search I found the opening theme…yeah, I remember that. Of course I just learned that each area had their own hostess.

PS- Dare I ask how Slavic? My maternal great grandparents were Russian and Polish, came over at the turn of the century. Of course I don’t know anything beyond that really.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Mr. Do-Bee was the little morality bee. “Do-Bee a good citizen. Do-Bee Considerate.” Etc. Sounds funny coming from me, but true. I thought he was cute.

My first name is pretty Slavic and nobody outside my family uses it, Džanan (the way my mother tells it, my first name would have been Nicholas if she hadn’t beaten my father to the registrar. I’m named for a childhood friend of hers. I think I would have preferred Nicholas in the long run. lol), my second name is Americanized (thank god) and what I go by in day to day life. Last name… Slavic, but I only think another slav would notice. It doesn’t end in anything that jumps up and slaps you in the head with Ivan the bear.

          • Bugs have always freaked me out a bit. Ever since a pillbug unrolled itself in my hand. Never got over that. Or when that ladybug bit me (true story). Ha!

How would that be pronounced? Because I may have to steal it for one of my characters (if you hold no mind ). 🙂 I find names to be interesting. My middle name’s Japanese, which was always fun trying to explain that in elementary school when I’m not Japanese. Come on, what does the M stand for. Michiko, that’s a funny name. 😐

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

It’s not like I own it.

Short version? Form an english “d” sound with your mouth, say an english “j” sound with that configuration instead and hiss. If you are hissing properly, that’s dž. It’s sort of a bit explodey DJS noise. (I checked wikipedia, and that pronunciation doesn’t match what my parents do with it. I was hoping some poor bastard on youtube recorded a clip of saying it, but no luck there either.)

Rest of my name is as english normal, I think. Sort of like Shanon, I guess.

It means “beloved”, so my mother insists. I think it means “he gets teased in school by boys whose names are things like Chip and Joe”.

          • Well you know, that’s true, but I always find it strange if I see my name in fiction. Not that you would see your name.. never mind. *blush* It’s a nice name and I like it, that is all.

That doesn’t sound too bad. That’s kinda where I was going with it in my head a little. But children can be such little bastards. No wonder I can’t make my mind up about them.

Anyway, about ten years ago we had a 15 yr old Polish exchange student stay with us. The little shit. He ended up going by Samek (although some called him sandwich because he really was a little shit), since most folks had trouble with the whole Psh sound of the first letter.

          • Džanan actually sounds pretty cool, because it would instantly be shortened to Zan… but then again I didn’t have to grow up in American with that. I know what you mean. My name is terribly white-bread and simple, Chris is the real first one… so rare *rolls eyes*. But I have friends with last names, where the Eastern Bloc jumble of consonants and vowels, gets so byzantine that I’ll see them roll their eyes and just hand a card to some hapless person filling out some form, who can’t follow it… LOL… just to make the pain STOP. ‘-something-xynskzyxy’.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

XD Dž is one “letter”. It doesn’t sound much like “z”. I got called “Annie”, “Nannie” and “Nancy” by the the other boys in school. (The last also because well, small, glasses and queer. At 10 I became fascinated with butt… I got caught staring, and grabbing, quite a bit…)

Oh noooo. My last name isn’t that bad. Nope. Thank you merciful universe.

          • *chris scrunches forehead in confusion*

            So… ‘Sonny’ it is!

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Think of it this way— Dž is a hiss, like the fuse on a bomb. It’s explosive. Z is a soft sound, like a zipper being drawn down.

Yeah, why do you think I stuck with Sonny? XD I could have been sadistic and made you all look for the keys that make ž on your keyboards.

          • Steven K.

Yep – that’s very well explained! So, when people refer to Duncan by the “Anni” abbreviation of his supervillain name, does that give you a bit of a nostalgic feeling? And it would seem that “Sonny” just happens to also be a fairly decent approximation of “TSanni”.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I don’t use Anni for him for a reason, yes. That’s why he became Dunks. His last name is Wells. Things are dunked in wells.

          • Steven K.

            Nice!

          • See how nice you were for a certified DBIR? Hmmm?

I have to copy and past all kinds of stuff out of Wikipedia and Google etc… to get the right letters and accents sometimes. So, I’d have to have a ‘ž’ on my note pad. HA. But thanks for pronunciation. My husband and I are watching football and drinking coffee in bed and suddenly I’m making “s” sounds and “zip” sounds for no obvious reason — and he’s known me long enough now that he doesn’t even really ask — he just gives me a “LOOK” and shakes his head. LOL.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

            LOL

          • Steven K.

Hey – I love that first name of yours. But yeah – similar things here, although my first name isn’t quite as “uniquely” Slavic. However, my first name of Steven was chosen after the name of my grandfather and great-grandfather, who were both “Stefan” (or “Styefan”), and my last name was Americanized slightly from “Klimeczki”.

          • Steven K.

My paternal grandfather was Slovakian, and my paternal grandmother was Ukrainian, so I have a fair amount of Slavic blood in me as well.
Oh – btw, I believe that there was, in addition to Mr. Do-Bee, a Mr. Don’t-Bee

          • Yeah, I found that in my Googling, Do/Don’t Bee. My great grandparents (Jews escaping the Czar) are really the only Eastern European heritage I have. Everything else is English, Irish/Scottish, Germanic, and I think some Welsh.

          • Steven K.

            “Romper Stompers”

          • Right! I always wanted those.

          • Ahhhh yes. The gifts of age. Only the really important things matters anymore. The rest of it is just a bunch of pointless shite. Ahahahaha. I continue to wait until my bad behavior can all simply be attributed to eccentricity. I wish I had more money, so young relatives would suck up and make fools of themselves for possible inheritances, but alas… XD

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

LOL I wish I had more money period.

          • Yes, agreed (big time), but in my fantasy world I have boodles of it and so it’s no longer a life-style issue, but more for entertainment purposes as young foolish nieces and nephews (remember the gay bit) cavort and suck up for my amusement, as their parents remind them to behave for their kinky, kindly, eccentric Uncle

(and be glad he has no interest in children, HA, but the pool man is to die for, looks rather like a young Duncan, working to put himself through super-villain school)

Anyway… I was just on about specific fantasy money…

*mmmm… reminds me to fuel up my private jet… as chris floats off to la la land…*

          • Me too… ah hell… at least I’m in good company. I’d take RR over the later Barney and Teletubies anyway.

What is it about all children’s television that, when remembered, seems a bit like an acid trip. At least Pee Wee Herman was acknowledging that fact right out front. XD

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Yeah, see, I like Pee Wee. I have the DVDs and when it’s my turn to babysit my family’s many little monsters during holiday time so their parents can go fornicate (love you guys, I do, but I know what you’re doing) in peace, we watch Pee Wee or something else decent.

          • Ladies and Gentlemen meet ‘the favorite uncle’. XD

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

            Good night, Chris.

          • You really should have that cough checked. I mean, look at Sonny’s beautiful evil laugh below. Full throated and rich with nary a wheeze or a cough to be found. 🙂

          • Oi Vey… everyone’s a critic. 🙂

          • *raspberry* 😀

          • *laughs*

        • Steven K.

Well, I’m trying to get a Franklin or 2 saved up in case that were to happen. I know you have the funds to make such contributions regularly, but I’ve had way too many medical bills lately, unfortunately. But if your vision/prediction were to come true, I’d be sure to try to siphon off a little like that to reward the pity and empathy and wisdom and good judgement finally shown by the author.

          • Okay you are full of wise restraint… I am being a total silly DBIR with my statements. However, I have a feeling we’ve got a couple of hard chapters coming… but I feel a good ending out there somewhere. I JUST WANT DO!!! So wait for the hot mail sexual pairing of your dreams and then pounce SK… you can do it.

And good luck with med bills… they’re a bitch. Sympathy.

            Best,CD

    • Sapfo

Oh, a call from Chris. That would be fun.

Alright, better do what Mr Dangerfield tells me. He seems to be serious

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Chris “that look on Laampros’ face when he sees Kyle and his tear of despair and fury” is on this side facing away from Laampros. So unless Kyle has a matching tear on the other side of his face or Laampros has x-ray vision, he won’t be able to see it. 😐

      • Ahahahahahaha… FINE. Listen you being all correct and logical is NOT going to stop be from being all illogical and emo-angsty. Nothing happens there without Laampers knowing about it. erm… or something like that. So as far as I’m concerned Big-L. knows all about that tear and, like Sonny says, he’s fascinated by it.

Heh heh heh… I’m sure of it! XD

        • Steven K.

Score for you on that one! You backed that one up VERY nicely!

          • Thank you kindly, but I’ve learned there is no win & loss with this stuff only my whack-ass theory and your whacky-ass theory and then Alex does something that no one expects. *falls about laughing* Isn’t that the truth? Best, CD

  • I love the way that Laampros is making sure that Duncan holds up his end of the bargain. The way that he dismissed him after marking him, though is suggestive that he has further plans.

And his look at Kyle. FUCK his look at Kyle. He has plans and they are being formulated while he stares at the naked, crying boy.

  • Sargon

I bet he’s going to offer Kyle a deal. At first I thought he was feeling sorry for him but then I realized since he’s a demon, he’s probably curious towards human emotions which would led him to make a deal with Kyle for his soul or powers or something.

  • Steven K.

OMG – Alex’s comment – why oh WHY did he have to say: “and now Laampros’s attention is moving on to… other things. Namely our hero Kyle!”. Horrible HORRIBLE (almost unbearable) anxiety now and fear for Kyle once more. I’m not sure how much more of this I can take.

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

He’s not going to die. I’m not the least bit worried.

      • Sure Jakk… you and Sircea… *smiles evilly*

        • Jakk Anthony Guzman

          And then he grabbed her
          He tied her up
He threw her on the railroad tracks
          A train started comin’!
          😛

          • rgleon9986

            All over her… 😛

          • Smart lad!

          • bobbyjoeguy

…and then along came Jones? 😉

        • silibub

*pokes head around corner* did someone say Sircea

          • LOL… She’s yours… all yours… puts her in cart and wheels her over… here… enjoy. *runs off* Bye kids… have fun!

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

QUICK, GET IN THE CAR, WE STILL HAVE TIME TO ESCAPE!

          • silibub

Excellent move, my friend. *whisks her off*

    • Jamie Dutton

It’s ok, Steven! Here have some tea. Pardon the tissues, I got a bit weepy myself over this.
*pats Steven’s back and pours him a cup of hot tea* Hope you don’t mind Green Jasmine?

      • Steven K.

That’s fine – thanks. Although I think I need a snifter of Drambuie or Cointreau or Grand Marnier or maybe some Creme de Cassis to go with that (at the very least).

        • No, I’m afraid you’re right. This IS a Grand Marnier page for suuuuuure.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I beg to differ. I’d be enjoying some Bombay Sapphire at the moment. Chilled till it almost puts frost on your teeth and burns all the way down.

          • HA… you guys aren’t providing me with any WRONG answers here.

          • I don’t think I’m so sophisticated. I prefer Southern Comfort.

          • Nice. I think that comfortably rounds out my point that you guys could put together a very reasonable bar. I shall be over shortly… perhaps after a coffee and a muffin. XD

          • But if someone brings over Zima, I may cut someone. 😀

          • Adam Black

            my kind of girl

          • That… I was sick for two days after just a sip of that.

It ruins’d it precious. I couldn’t drink for a long time after that. So yeah, someone will pay if I see it.

          • Adam Black

            Johnny walker black or Tequila

          • Patron Silver… very cold? Maybe a nice cold Tecate with salt and lime?

          • Adam Black

thats all right. but almost too clean.
I like the kick from gold, and it doesnt drag me down like other alcohols.

i can put away a lot if tequila ( but gin makes me nauseous )

          • True that.

Only rarely and on special occasions and the downside is that, while I’m a happy drunk and amuse my friends and loved ones, occasionally, I don’t remember the particulars the next day. Much later, stories can be a bit wince-making. Still, occasionally if I take the ribbing with the right amount of good cheer, I’m usually okay. XD

(you may judge me if it makes you feel good… I’m cool. LOL.)

          • Adam Black

            ribbed for your pleasure?

          • *serious and loud applause*

          • Tequila makes the room spin for me, at least it did the first time I drank it. Not smart to do that on a cruise ship during a storm.

          • Adam Black

            that means you need less

          • I had three tequila sunrises and they tried to kill me. 😐

    • Breathe SK breathe… deep breaths… just like me. Now repeat… “heroes don’t get eaten… heroes don’t get eaten…” Now keep breathing. We’ll get through this. (IS EVERYONE HOLDING HANDS?) Jamie! Hand me that tea… XD

      • Sapfo

O poor Chris. Are you still punishing yourself by hanging the Artifice magnet upside down? Have a cookie. You too Steven. Cookies makes the world go around!

        • LOL… I might need two… I’m in a bad way. XD

          • Sapfo

Two you said, two it is. ^_^

(You have to go to Teahouse to get them. I can not post the image here)

            http://teahousecomic.com/comic/

          • Indeed, those are succulent cookies. XD

          • Sapfo

I will tell my brother that. It is he who is the master baker 🙂

      • Steven K.

Is Laampros was simply going to eat Kyle (with no sexual connotations), that would be a less traumatizing thought, as we KNOW that THAT isn’t going to happen. It’s his previously-mentioned wish and plan, after the “business” is concluded, to get back to that “exploring the limitations of human flesh” part, etc., etc., etc.

        • Okay people… SK is NOT buying my baloney. Who’s got the Valium? XD

SK… just keep breathing in the meantime, we’ll fix this… promise. 🙂

    • Adam Black

      ( forgive me) Steve K

      But …. would humor help?

  • KryX

I know this is shallow but, the damn copy-write print palatially covers the
perky little bit of Kyle I need to see. In times of great stress, I
    always turn to sex.

  • Steven K.

Did I not say something a couple pages back about Laampros possibly needing Duncan’s arm in order to seal the pact in blood, as is common in such bargains or dealings with occult beings?

  • KryX

I think Laampros has been in human form before to “enjoy mortal pleasures.” He may be looking at Kyle less as a plaything and more as a receptacle.

    • Receptacle for what? Possession?

      • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Haha, maybe another type of “receptacle”, IF Laampros can take human form then he won’t be so tall.

        • Steven K.

Our nice cute little Jakk’s mind has turned rather smutty and wanton in the last couple pages ;P

          • You noticed that too, huh… he lulled us with that cute little avatar… and than BAM!

          • Steven K.

            EXACTLY!

      • KryX

If I were a demon and wanted to come to this world to play, I can’t think of a better form than that of an 18 year old boy as good looking as Kyle. Walk into a club and have your pick.

        • Serious point… I almost envy Laamp that plan. Oh wait, that puts my DBIR card in jeopardy… better not.

          • KryX

            DBIR?

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Douchebag in Recovery. I’m not just the spokesman, I’m also a member.

          • Aren’t you busy planning this year’s annual retreat that everyone will sign up for and then blow off rudely at the last minute, because we’re basically… all Douchebag in Recovery… you get my point. XD

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

You know the formula so well…

          • Unfortunately, it’s instinctive. XD

        • Steven K.

Well, yeah, that’s TOTALLY logical. I’d make a deal with a devil for that. Though, in this case, with the devil himself inhabiting Kyle, it sure would get Kyle(‘s body at least) a lot more action, but as an outsider looking in on the situation, I’d be kinda sad that it would turn him into a slutty-sort. Loss of innocence is OK – but not too fond of him forced to go overboard by an indwelling Lord of Evil – making your body do things perhaps with all kinds of people and genders (maybe even animals) that one would never have intended or wanted. So, if there is consciousness for Kyle inside while this is happening, this could still be a horrifying and traumatizing experience – imagine being forced to have sex with all kinds of partners that you might never want to do anything with physically, in addition to those you might. And what if Kyle is the type that would rather be interested in a nice loving (or at least caring and affectionate) relationship with his partners when possible – but instead being turned into Laampros’s sex-slave, through him using you for it from within, instead.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Assuming that were to happen and Kyle were to remain conscious, he would be forced to watch people being tortured and killed. If that were to happen for a long time he would probably go insane. But I don’t think that’s going to happen. Laampros is not looking directly at Kyle. He seems to be sensing something, maybe Kyle powering up.

          • Jackk…

(Ixnay on the oing-insane-gay…was that even remotely good pig latin?) Damn, I used to know important stuff like that. I like your powering up theory a lot more… keep talking about THAT. XD

          • Well SK… at least we’ll have plenty of warning right? Kyle’s spandex will change color schemes. Doesn’t Evil Kyle always get a cooler sexier black themed spandex uniform and automatically start giving off some Demon pheromones or something. You know stuff that will make the commander twitch? I know this because TV tells me so. XD. Remember evil Xander (better hair… right away). LOL.

        • Adam Black

          doesn’t always work that way…
especially when there are plenty of hots guys 20-30s

18 is immature and has to compete with men who are confident and comfortable with themselves.

    • Steven K.

Still sounds wholly (or unholy) unpleasant and another sort of “violation” – still using Kyle’s body for pleasure, just from the inside, after a fashion, rather than the outside.

  • Steven K.

If Duncan has second-thoughts about this, he better be able to communicate with Sircea and get her onto raising Daniel Webster from the dead to argue on his behalf (at least he has some experience in re-negotiating such contracts).

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Most likely Sircea might be looking to get rid of him and replace him with a much younger helper (Kyle perhaps?).

      • Steven K.

Well, if things are headed the way things seem, Kyle will be busy helping Laampros explore some things as his unwilling boy-toy. More trauma for the poor kid either way. I hope he’s somehow able to save himself.

  • Denita Brown

Tears of frustration are the worst. Don’t worry Kyle the world can wait, we gotta save that ass

  • Becky

The Annihilator as Captain Hammer: “I’m in pain! This must be what pain feels like!”

  • vessto

*shakes head* It seems that exactly Kyle’s strength made Mr. L to sign the contract. That means that the Redskin will probably insist the Readhead as an additional part of the price Anni should pay. If yes I wonder what Anni would answer.

    • I don’t think Big Red is going to ask for more than bargained for. He was just ensuring the bargain happened. If Duncan doesn’t deliver, dummy’s in deep trouble.

      • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I agree demons stick to their bargains, of course they find a way to screw the person in the end. But like you, I don’t think he will ask for anything outside of the bargain.

        • Of course there were things that Duncan didn’t ask for, such as safe passage back, or that Big Red doesn’t attack the Americas or… The difference between the letter of the bargain and the spirit.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Exactly! I’m glad we agree again. 😀
I also don’t think that Laampros is looking at Kyle like some do. To me he seems to be sensing something.

          • I don’t think there is anything sexual in the way Laampy has ever looked at Kyle, but that’s just me. And I agree, I think he’s sensing something more about Kyle, whether curiosity by the spike of emotion, or that Kyle’s about to go super nova.

For all we know, this could be one of those screams like in the First Superman movie and Lois was killed in the earthquake and he released that primal scream before making the earth spin backwards.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I agree. I think he sees what Kyle actually is. I think there’s even a strange level of “aww, cute baby” going on, angel style (I maintain Laampros is something like an Ophan until he or Alex say otherwise). To an eons old being like Laampros, a little seraph like Kyle would seem newborn but still oceans above a mortal “maggot” like Dunks. It might even annoy him just a little that Kyle’s still tied down. And then again, also, fascination with Kyle’s very human (and to him, alien) emotions. I envision him putting down one of those talons to that tear, then tasting it in wonder.

          • He could be a bit confused as to why Kyle would care about that world too, but then again, Laampros told Duncan he understood exactly squat. Meaning Big Red isn’t interested in the world the way Duncan thought he was.

So yeah, he could be thinking “aww, cute baby” considering how impressed he was by Kyle’s show of strength in the manner of a baby taking its first steps. It has always eased some of the tension of each page for me that Laampy has never looked at or treated Kyle in the manner he has Duncan. Anyway, I like this idea very much.

            Why isn’t it Wednesday yet?

          • vessto

            “Why isn’t it Wednesday yet?”

Second that and suggest the week to have only 2 days – Wednesday and Saturday.XD

          • Yes… but let’s get really selfish and say that Alex, Adam and Veronica are allowed the other days, just us readers will blip right over them!

          • vessto

It is easy. They’d be given eternal youth and strength so to can draw non-stop. The should draw only 1000+ years and later all the time will be for their own.XD

          • Wow, you’re good, I don’t think Alex is letting you anywhere near his arm. LOL.

          • vessto

What I’ll suggest him is tempting too, so it is not sure if he wouldn’t reach out his hand.;) I’ll open the tunnel to the Universe Of Living Manga And Comics where any author and artist have their characters real and living. Only chosen ones can enter this world thought; the key is in me.:p

          • Ahahahahahahaha… Like I said… you are good!

*make note to self to warn Alex* XD

          • vessto

STEALINGALLTHEBEERFROMCHRISFRIDGE Well, this spell now will mute you!!!!

          • Mmmmm…mmmm…mmmm…mmmm…

*chris give vessto a really stinky look!*

          • vessto

You still can say even “mmmmmm”???

            ANDREPLACINGALLBACONWITHCARROTS

That now will send you in The Hell Of The Empty Dishes!!!

            :p

          • I’m just wanting to press fast forward. 🙂

          • It’s okay Admiral… chant along with me as you clap…

I DO believe in Wednesdays. I DO believe in Wednesdays… *repeat*

*chris sneaks muffin while AJ’s eyes are scrunched closed and she’s chanting”

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

No she’s too busy chanting: “Go, RED HOT, GO!!” But as to which red hot she means, I don’t know. 😉

          • *sniffs*

I have faith in the Admiral’s multi-tasking abilities! XD

          • I do believe in Red Hot, I do, I do!

          • Will I need to have the oompa loompas roll you out of here like Violet Beauregarde?

          • Now that’s just a fascinating story right there. I love the idea of that relationship and motivation for Laamp’s character. Fun thinking. A being that’s forgotten something so simple as crying and is fascinated… cool.

          • Steven K.

Well, that would be an extraordinary turn of events, though not an unwelcome one from my perspective, given the more obvious alternatives of Laampros wanting to test the “limitations of human flesh” with Kyle.

          • That was good silly fun. Thanks, forgot that one!

          • I’m not certain why this scene made me think of that scene. But BIG things always happen when the primal scream is emitted.

          • And (pardon if someone just said this) but read Laampros’ actual line… no hookum about touching that key and getting swept up in some technical snafu-trap-a-demon details, it’s “Open the door to your world and you shall have what you asked for…” So, if Duncan (and Sircea’s) plan was all a big trick, Lammpros seems to have neatly side-stepped it.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Sonny seems to think that there is a trap on the other side. But I think that Laampros is smarter than that. We’ll have to wait and see. And have you noticed how Duncan’s hair never gets disarrayed? Not a hair out of place even when he’s thrown this way or that. 😉

          • Yeah… now that’s some hair product.

Hey we’ll really see how well it holds its shape later, when Kyle holds Duncan’s head with both hands as he gets his ‘apology blow-job’ from Duncan… you know when Kyle’s fingers are carded through Duncan’s hair…

            HEY? What?

That was tasteful right? I don’t wan’t Denise telling me I’m being naughty *laughs*… okay maybe I do… just a little. XD

          • Do I need to get the rolled up newspaper? 😛

          • Steven K.

Well, that’s the LEAST that Duncan can do (after Kyle saving Duncan and Duncan almost sacrificing his life for Kyle and all that) – including LETTING Kyle muss up his hair while it’s happening without resistance or interruption – that would go a LONG way in convincing Kyle and all of us as well that he really does care for the lad. Although if I were having the great honor and pleasure of doing that for Kyle (or anyone remotely like him, for that matter), there wouldn’t be much in this universe that would divert or interrupt me short of the sun exploding.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I do, and they can open the door all they like (completing the transaction). Doesn’t mean Laampros isn’t ending up in a cell on the other side.

Yeah, Duncan’s hair is something else.

          • Okayyyyy… so you two have your money on Duncan rallying and Laampros getting snagged. We shall see what we shall see. I’m just not getting a sucker vibe from Laamp right now. That’s all.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Sonny, assuming that there is a trap for Laampros. If the Key gets destroyed and if they were able to use Kyle, they would appear in another location than the one expected and Laampy would not be trapped. I’m assuming that with the Key they would appear at the location where the sister Key is.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I don’t think the key is getting destroyed and I’m not sure Kyle could destroy it.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Hmm, that would make Laampros rather trusting and he doesn’t look like the trusting kind. Wouldn’t he suspect something?
Also, if it is a trap can Laampros refuse to grant their wishes because the trap was not part of the bargain? So far the bargain is not going according to plan. And then there is Kyle, if they are taking him with them he could do something to further screw things up for D and S.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Well occasionally, you can screw a being out of more than they bargained for.

No– I don’t think Laampros is stupid, but he agreed to a deal with Duncan (yeah, after calling him shit, a maggot and with that “look” on Dunks’ face, even), which means he needs to get to Earth for whatever reason and his own distaste with the method isn’t important. Being desperate may make him a little careless.

          • *chris looks around a bit lost and then realizes…*

“Oh? I’m at the corner of Hypothetical Ave. & Supposition Blvd.”

            No problem. XD

          • Sapfo

Destroy Clave! What would George say and do then? o.O

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Ahh, but remember, I think George is either Sircea’s pet or part of Laampros’ real form.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

You mean Sircea? Or do you think they are one and the same?

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Yeah, I changed it. Circe is just much on my mind of late. The idea of her terrified me as a boy. Reading the myths– then reading that people actually worshiped her as Helios’ daughter and manifestation of his unforgiving heat and blinding brilliance (hence the blinding hallucinations, etc). I wouldn’t draw that creature’s notice at all, even to try to placate her. I’d go live under a rock (or in a cave) and thank my lucky stars that Hades and the other cthonic deities that rule those places aren’t usually jerks. If they come after you, there’s a good reason for it 9.5/10.

          • Steven K.

Your last sentence – now that I think about that, it seems to basically be the case.

          • Sapfo

Oh no George would never do that (be that)…. or is he. Hmmm?

          • Well, he’s not a stupid Big Red that’s for sure. Yup, Duncan was very ill-prepared. That is worrisome.

    • Klaus

It is too late to up the price when the contract is signed.

      • vessto

You suspect the Demon in honesty?:D

        • Klaus

Why do demons keep their pacts? Is it that some magic compells them? Or is it just that they want to maintain a reputation for keeping pacts? If the latter, Laampros may think that once it gets access to the Earth, it will never need to make another pact. No need to keep this one, then.

          • vessto

But that means that he can insist Kyle at all.

          • Dokidokibaka

Pacts with demons are legally/magically binding. They would not make them unless they benefited from it in some way. Think of it like the Fideleous (sp?) charm in Harry Potter. Two people make a deal and heaven help the person that breaks it.

          • Klaus

Ah, yes. They would want you to think that, wouldn’t they.

          • Dokidokibaka

It is just one of those things that just ARE. There are rules that even demons have to abide by. I am not saying that either side might try to screw the other over due to loopholes, but once a contract is signed it is binding.

          • Klaus

If that is how Alex wants his world to work. We just don’t know.

    • Good and disturbing question, Vesto!

  • amanda

    poor kyle

    • vessto

That is the highest point which will make him mature person. He won’t ever be the same naive boy.

      • Steven K.

Which in itself is kind of sad. There is a certain appeal in someone who is innocent and naive – not jaded by the world yet – not corrupted, not broken, not used, not infected, not turned bitter, not turned cynical, not battered or scarred, not disfigured or disabled – by the cruelty of this place.

        • vessto

But if you read the light spoilers Alex gave you’ll see what I meant.;) I won’t quote them, part of people surely skipped them.

I wonder, is there any person who ever stood innocent till his/her oldest years. And if yes then isn’t that kinda pity bc everyone should pass the border of maturity?

          • Steven K.

Oh – I wasn’t denying any of that – just a wistful comment on the sadness or bittersweet part of the “loss of innocence”.

          • vessto

Oh, in the general meaning? Agree, it is always sad because with the loss of innocence we also lose a bit of the good in us (who has it, of course ;)).

  • What ‘it’ draw on him? Is this a spell or something? *curious*

    • Klaus

Laampros signed the contract. But why did it not demand that duncan sign?

      • Something with Kyle.. hmm :/

        • vessto

OMG, I just was in Goodreads and saw you there too with that avatar!!!!XD Also I’m happy to meet more neighbors in my MM fav places.:)

          • Really? that’s awesome LOL! Hello Neighbor!

          • vessto

🙂 I added you there, I hope you don’t mind, we have very similar interests.:D

          • I’d be happy 😀

          • vessto

Me too.:) I suppose you follow the other MM webcomics available, if you want to exchange info you could pm me in GR.:)

          • I’m also on GR (just as me)… although I barely understand that site yet and the sheer volume that people read. Yikes? Either they speed read or they don’t work or something. And of course the evil conundrum of reading is that, if you are procrastinating about doing your writing… erm… (something which @admiraljane:disqus and I know nothing about, hard working go-getters that we are), then reading is a wonderful way to avoid work. Feel free to look me up if you wish, or not, it’s all okay. Best, CD

          • vessto

I don’t use it in that part either as I can’t even buy books. BUT the MM Romance group is a wonderful and compulsory place for every MM Book lover. And it also has amazing NSFW image gallery threads.

          • So sorry, not being able to buy books is a crime against nature. Sympathies.

          • vessto

Thank you! Weah, books, CDs, going to cinema, I even stopped dreaming for this “luxury”.

        • Hesthea

At least Lamp’s is intrigued by Kyle =3

      • vessto

Because he’ll insist something additional (Kyle), I’m sure! He signed bc Anni to see he’s agree. But before Anni’s sig Mr. L will say his additional request.:D

        • john Johnson

Having signed he has agreed to the pact, as stated, no addenda. Of course he’ll try to twist things to his advantage.

          • vessto

Change, twist or whatever, Mr. L will always have the last word and be sure every his whim will be fulfilled.

      • Amy

Have you watched any movies that involve others signing contracts with the devil? It’s always the cliche situation that they’re forced to sign it with their blood no matter what happens next. I love this story to bits, but it makes this page a huge cliche.

        • There is a type of truth in that statement, but even a possibly overused concept, such as the hoary old deal with the devil, is great fun when it’s presented so interestingly and with so much else going on. L&D slamming carved forearms was actually the least impactful element for me. It was Laampros’ attitude while doing it, the oh so casually tossing D. aside and then L. watching curiously as K. cries that tear, all of which would mean so many things. Those were the things I was fascinated with.

Otherwise, a deal with the devil is just a timeless classic. That said, your point is well-taken.

          Best,
          ChrisD

          • Amy

Yes, I liked all those points as well. It’s not like I enjoyed the page any less. It’s just that I’m not a big fan of cliches or things happening around a cliche. Hehe.

          • Totally agree. I guess I was waiting for the cliché, you rightly point out so long, I was kinda numbed to it. LOL.

          • HermeticallySealed

Thing is, it’s a cliche because it is an actual part of many real life occultic traditions. The notion of the Law of Sympathy pops up a lot. Blood and names are considered in occultist traditions to be the strongest bonds one can use, so it only makes sense that it would come into play.

          • Erm… yeah… that’s what I meant to say. XD

          • john Johnson

Of course it has to be one’s true name, not one’s birth name, or the name one goes by..

          • Amy

Wait, that’s not what I said. The problem is not the happening in itself, it’s someone being forced to sign a contract. It’s simply the truth. Everyone knows that many of these contracts with any kind of demon are always forced in movies or in books. It’s what I always see or read. I’m not saying that I hate it, but for some reason, the character is always forced by the devil to sign the contract whether with blood or not. The keyword here is “forced”, not “contract”. Has no one noticed this?

          • Steven K.

Although Duncan already made the agreement willingly – in fact, he was the one who proposed it. There’s no reason to suspect that Duncan wouldn’t sign, or that he wasn’t about to anyway. To say that Laamprose “forced” it is a question of semantics. He grabbed Duncan and PHYSICALLY “forced” the signature, but I don’t think he compelled it out of Duncan emotionally or otherwise – we know it was Duncan’s intent to go through with things – he proposed the deal in the first place – it was actually Laampros’s choice to accept or decline. That was just Laampros accepting DUNCAN’S terms, though rather hastily “signing”. You say they are always forced or coerced into signing. Just remember that in this case, Duncan is the one OFFERING the deal, and it is Laampros who is the one doing the accepting and signing. Not only is Laampros not forced into it, he suddenly decides to very quickly “take the pen and sign” without the slightest bit of any pressure by Duncan.

          • Steven K.

            Quite right.

        • Steven K.

Well, it’s not a cliche if that’s the way it “really is”, – if contracts with demons or any sort of Lord of the Netherworld MUST require a blood-signature to be valid, then there isn’t any way around this. To show something else would be very unbelievable and totally not-in-keeping with reality. 😉

          • Amy

When have I mentioned that the cliche is the blood signature? The cliche is being forced without a reason when Duncan had already accepted it.
Laampros did force Duncan. It’s all over the page above. He could have just told Duncan to show his arm and he would “sign the contract”. Why grab Duncan’s arm like that and throw him away when Duncan was the one who proposed the deal? It obviously shows force. It’s right there, so don’t tell me otherwise.
Laampros just said that Kyle’s power is impressive in the previous page, then all of a sudden grabbed Duncan’s arm forcefully. Why? Couldn’t he just hold it and sign the damn thing, since Duncan wanted the deal with him? It always happens in books and movies. Whether the deal is consented or not, it ends up being signed forcefully. It has nothing to do with blood or the contract or who makes/signs it, it’s the forcefulness.

I see that no one is understanding my point of view. Only the person who first replied to me understood it. Sigh.

          • SofiaT

I think the forcefulness is deliberate, and telling of the way Laampros feels about Duncan: he agreed with the little maggot but that doesn’t mean he have to like him. Manhandling him like that shows that he still has the upper hand, they’re not equal partners.

Laampros is making a statement here.

Plus, he chose to do it right after Duncan got burned and was still processing that fact. Once again, he did it to keep him off-balance. Most likely he also didn’t want the deal to be discussed anymore, and Duncan to try to get away from any loopholes/traps.

      • Hesthea

They made a blood pact so i guess is “signature” is already included in it 😉

      • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

He doesn’t have to if this is coming from where I think it is. Angels serve man, not the other way around.

        • Then why isn’t one here to bring me some more coffee? Darn angels… 😐

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

            XD

          • See, faulty d-vote is angelic fault… I’m liking this theory…

          • Adam Black

            bad, Angels, baaad.
            I got a better one: ( @sonoftheatomicbiscuithead:disqus )

            Omphalos made me do it

          • Adam Black

            Angels made me do it

          • Wow… I could feel the universe rebalancing itself. *laughs* EXCELLENT!

But now my excess of up-votes have karmically elevated me so… “I am a GOLDEN GOD!” (go watch ALMOST FAMOUS if you need a Billy Crudup fix, and let’s face it, who doesn’t?)

          • vessto

            I smell a revenge here.

        • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

          A downvote, really? Pfh.

          • Sorry, undone now, was lack of coffee and bad track-paddery (was hoping you didn’t notice the bugger)

          • Adam Black

            😉

        • john Johnson

Angels serve God. As often as not by destroying, if not man, large groups of men, even towns and cities.

          • I guess this is not the appropriate time to bring up Matt Damon and Ben Afleck’s angelic portrayals in the film DOGMA? A lot of what I know on this subject, I learned there. Really.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

God told the angels to serve man as well. It’s why the whole “I shall not serve!” thing happened. We suck. Big time. Some of the angels were offended. I can’t blame them.

And yes they do that too. Solomon’s control of them was not common– but it was given.

          • “…the whole “I shall not serve!” thing…”

Well certainly explains why I didn’t get my coffee this morning, but doesn’t say a thing about them making Adam behave so reprehensibly… mmmmmmmmmm… HA.

          • Steven K.

            Yep.

      • john Johnson

Probably because Duncan’s blood would count as signature.

        • Steven K.

Yes – Duncan’s blood dripping out in that pattern, pressed against Laampros’s arm, would be the signature, as you see in the next panel on Laampros.

  • For all those who still want to believe in Annie’s good intentions, how about hat one: Maybe he wanted to infect Lampy with something? Sealing a deal trough exchanging blood has never been a very clever idea, even before the eighties…

    • Hesthea

The problem is if by doing a blood pact, Annie’s and Lamp’s lifeforce will be intertwined and if Lamp’s die so will the one(s) that made the pact with him…

      • ToxicIce

That strikes me like an idea grabbed from “The Mortal Instruments”…

        • john Johnson

The idea of entwined fates is found in a number of ancien magical myths, but can you really kill evil incarnate?

          • No… if you’re in a questionable movie and you’re Tom Cruise you just push EVIL through a weird portal and he spins out in a star field.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

            Poor Tim Curry.

        • Hesthea

Dunno. Haven’t read those books yet…

      • Steven K.

        Not necessarily – I don’t think that’s the case in all stories/myths/worlds/realities/planes.

    • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I think he looks too surprised for that. I don’t think Dunks was expecting the arm carving at all.

    • Steven K.

Hmmm – for all we know (and due to the unknown “magical” – using the term very loosely here – maybe mystical is better? – powers of demons), Duncan might now be pregnant with Laampros’s spawn. Maybe Laampros doesn’t really NEED a giant penis for the “customary” purpose of procreation – maybe such things on demons are more for show and intimidation, since even in the “flaccid” state (let alone the “extended” and engorged condition), it’s still way too big to copulate with a human very efficiently without ruining the human (and you don’t want to ruin it if you are impregnating it – well, not until the birth,, anyway) – even the most “experienced” of coochies (I’ve never had to spell that word before, so I’m just going phonetically) or anal canals. And in the case of a demon impregnating a male, there’s no reason to expect that the demon-baby would necessarily need a uterus in which to develop (I’m kinda thinking something like whole scenario in “Alien” with the “face-hugger” and “chest-burster” and all. And it would seem there are many precedents in the worlds of sci-fi and fantasy that involve reproduction through something carried in the blood. And of course, even in our own reality, there are countless parasitic or pathogenic organisms that live in and/or are transmitted by the blood. and use that as a conduit for transfer into a suitable host for reproduction, etc. At least it’s an interesting thought exercise to conjecture how Duncan might feel about or how it would affect him if he suddenly finds that’s he’s become Laapros’s “baby-mama”.

  • Finooola

Amazing page! I was wondering what he meant by “your arm” a few pages ago. But when are the cavalry arriving?! (I know I’m always rubbing my hands in glee at the old evil, but I’m getting a bit worried for earth’s safety now)

    • john Johnson

In comics the cavalry always arrives just in the nick of time. So where are Kyle’s team mates?

      • !CRAP! I knew I forgot to email that reminder to Alex. Sorry everyone. XD

      • Finooola

They’re leaving it pretty late to be sure. I still think something might stop this demonic invasion plan (although I am curious to see young Annihilator and Priestess. Can we have both?)

  • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Hmmm, what if Kyle destroys the Key and Duncan can’t open the door and fulfill his part of the bargain? Can he get back with Kyle’s help? Would he have to stay there? He certainly won’t get what he bargained for until he opens the door for Laampros.

    • Well I wonder if Duncan’s head slam ‘Abaracadabara’ spell will work twice? This time with nary a hint of sexual excitement on Kyle’s part and not an ounce of trust.

If I remember that correctly, Duncan only activated that spell the first time after LOTS of trust/love talk and when Kyle was so turned on his eyes were leaking fire.

      • Jakk Anthony Guzman

If there is a trap on the other side for Laampros and Kyle destroys the Key and they have to use Kyle to get back, that would screw up Duncan and Sircea’s plans even more.

      • Steven K.

        EXACTLY – I don’t think there’s a chance in Hell that’s going to work again. 😉

  • Klaus

Now that he has met someone both redder and hotter, will Kyle need a new name?

    • john Johnson

Redder yes. Hotter? That remains to be seen. Both antagonists have underestimated him already.

  • Rontex

I think Lampros just made Dunk’s his little BITCH! Interesting turn if Duncan becomes the “Damsel in Distress” and Kyle has to find a way to rescue him but to also find a reason to care…

    • That is a funny idea.

I must admit that, if ever become the equivalent of ‘a damsel in distress’, I’d rather do it after I’ve given my man a really good shag and reminded him why he loves me… as opposed to just after I’ve betrayed him and sent him to hell in chains. You know?

I just think he might be more inclined to save my sorry behind after option one. XD

    • Steven K.

Yeah – that’s a very good point. It would be very interesting to see something like that.

  • Simba Hutchison

Laampy’s facial expressions amuse me greatly. I just think he is the most interesting and emotionally deep demon character I have read in quite a while, possibly ever. <3 this comic.

    • So agree… and I’ve up-voted you seven times. Sorry that Disqus doesn’t bend to my will. 🙂

    • Thank you, Simaba. Adam does an amazing job with those facial expression, right? He nails it every time — and, as you mentioned, Laampros has lots of layers to him as a character. I feel very lucky to be able to work with Adam and Vero. 🙂

    • ScorpioladyCZ

      What?

Laampy has got any kind of personality other than evil impersonated? He want’s to “feed upon mortal soles” – or how it was phrased – and pardon me, but when someone is like ruler of some hell dimension and his goal in life is to feed upon mortal soles and dominate the planet, then he is just classic villain, isn’t he?
Yes, he is (highly) disgusting and sarcastic, whitch goes well with “evil impersonated”, but it is NOT really “a layer” of it’s own. So where do you see that deep character? I honestly don’t know!
And do you expect something other than some kind of evil-related deeds from him?

      • We only have Duncan’s word for it that Laampy wants to devour souls.

      • Steven K.

I kinda have to agree with that, in a way, though I suppose evil itself can have a number of dimensions, and can respond with different levels of insidiousness under different circumstances. Although, if some pity or remorse can enter in from time to time, that helps give more depth to the characterization.

  • Jac

    Oh Kyle. Oh Kyle!

  • Eriyonai

    That can’t be hygienic.
I’d splash some hydrogen peroxide over that when you get home, dude. That guy hasn’t had a manicure in a long time– lord knows where those hands have been.

    • Steven K.

      So true.

    • Yayyyyyyy. Thanks! My weekend is MADE!

You speak French? Do I say… très bon?

Honestly, I need to learn some more languages, I’m such a hick. LOL.

      • Denise Cruz

        Très bien, Chris! 😉

        • Merci!

          • Denise Cruz

            Né pas de quoi.

Even if the 400 is exceeded, the amount is reset to 0. That is how it has been done until now, anyway.

      • Okay, if everyone foregoes a trip to Starbucks then we can go for a Thursday page too… right Alex? 🙂

        • Sapfo

I have heard of this place Starbucks. Is not it a shrine to the Coffee Gods that you on the other side of the Atlantic worship so often?
They just open the first place in Sweden last year, I think they are trying to take over the country 😉

  • john Johnson

Anyone care to bet whether either side intends to keep their bargain? Remember they’re both evil.

    • No, I’ve learned here that… MY INTENTIONS ARE GOOD and thus justified… only someone else can be ‘evil’. So they both think they are good… right? XD

      • john Johnson

Laampros, being a devil, aacknowledges his evil. I don’t know about The Destroyer, he did more or less try to justify his being a villan.

        • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Laampros hasn’t done anything evil yet. He just looks like a big red gargoyle and has an angel name on his arm.

All the “evil” dialogue came from Duncan, whom Laampros was disgusted by. And yeah, Dunks tried to paint himself in moral grey. He’s still a douchebag.

          • I missed where Laamp ‘acknowledged’ anything, let alone being ‘evil’ and no one has said the ‘devil’ word yet. Okay, yes he does have a classic hell-boy look, but that could just be a grooming issue. So I’m not yet convinced.

Now I AM worried that he’s about to do something ‘evil’ to our adorable Kyle, in which case I’ll switch sides in this argument faster than… erm… something really fast… wait… faster than Kyle’s stalwart defender, SK!

            (hey it’s Saturday… I’m off the clock)

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

            LOL

          • Steven K.

Awww – thanks for that “title” – I’d be proud and honored to accept that.

          • Steven K.

I think that’s how it is.

        • Amanda

          Racial Profiling!!!!

          • I hate it when the cops pull people over just for looking like a devil… don’t you?

          • Amanda

It’s “the Man” trying to hold a good man down.

        • Sorry, I was being goofy, but for me… I don’t really know WHAT Laampros IS, just what he ‘looks like’.

It does beget the interesting question about what is more worrying? The being that acknowledges its own evil or the one who convinces himself that it’s bad behavior is for the best?

          Don’t know… but interesting.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

You always know where a truly evil being is coming from.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

            I like those questions.

          • Steven K.

            I’d say the latter.

      • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Don’t misstate the message, Chris. It confuses people. lol

        • So you’re saying I can’t restate universal truth at will…?

          Oh… well then… never mind. Wait a minute… does Circe think she’s evil… or she just doesn’t give a flying f*ck?

Curious minds and all that. XD

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I just don’t want people reading your smaller statements and then yelling that I’m excusing things in my long theories when I’m not. It boils down to a lot of pointless restating for me.

I think Circe doesn’t give a shit about anything but Circe. Morality doesn’t even enter into her scope.

I realize you’re playing. Just concerned that others wouldn’t understand it. I don’t have much patience and constant bombardment would make me uncomfortable enough to leave.

          • Fairly said, and understood. Honestly, I had no idea. Misplaced humor is my weakness. Will shut it now.

Just in a goofy mood. I’ll find someone else to take it out on.

*chris goes in search of husband*

            Best, C

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I agree with Sonny’s post. I don’t think Circe would care how people would perceive her. People to her would be toys to play with and probably think of them as idiots.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I appreciate the humor, it’s the fallout from it because we have an audience that I’m not too keen on. I don’t like arguing where I have to repeat myself over and over. Nothing gets accomplished like that and I get very bored, very fast. What do I do by beating a dead horse? Win? What does that get me? Nothing. I’d rather spin living theories and see what happens.

          • With the explosion in comments since The Annihilator cast the spell, I’ve noticed this dynamic — that some folks are repeatedly confronted in the comments for their point of view and then feel the need to defend their views beyond a point that’s pleasant for them. It’s not happening all the time, but it has been happening enough for me to notice.

Obviously, if someone is going to post a view on here, it’s only fair to allow others to respond, but I’ve been thinking of maybe coming up with a standard way for the Original Poster to bow out of these repetitious threads — something along the lines of “I respect where you’re coming from and while I’m not sure I’m being 100% understood here, I’m actually not looking to get into a longer debate so I’m going to bow out.” Some standard language that could be copy-pasted and would let folks bow out of a debate while still being respectful.

I haven’t figured out exactly what those words are, but I have been wondering if having something like that might be helpful. Many folks do enjoy debate but not everyone does. And even folks who do like debate can reach their limits. Coming up with a respectful way to handle this before it gets to a pain point is something I’ve been thinking about. And I’d be interested to hear the suggestions of other folks for what they think would be a good way to handle this.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

“I respectfully disagree” and “Well, my opinion isn’t hurting you is it” don’t seem to cut mustard because of the subject matter. Your comic deals with sexuality and has religious overtones– it’s a potential tinderbox for a lot of people. I don’t want to just stop replying because that can be interpreted as storming off in a huff (If I leave it’s because I can’t behave properly and I don’t want to inflict that on the other posters). And I think it’s sad that Chris can’t joke (I laughed) without it potentially backfiring all over me because people aren’t going to look at my longwinded spinning when the seemingly condensed version is right there.

How to word that? Perhaps, “I’m tired and I’m moving on to something else now.” But then people might be offended by the blunt tone– so your guess is as good as mine.

I’ve been trying to dance very very carefully, throwing out ideas as I can, but I can get tired and short because I just meant to toss out fun things for people to chew on, possible things I’m seeing, in hopes someone else would have another pov to give me more information to think about. If I’m wrong, who cares? I’m a spectator. A chatty spectator, but a spectator nonetheless. If you (the others) had fun bending your mind around my thoughts, that’s the important part. If not, ignore my dribblings. They don’t matter in the long run, the comic is written. I just like to make you think because it’s fun.

          • Sonny,

I don’t want to put words into any one’s mouth, but I strongly suspect the mention of an “explosion of comments” was not directed at you, but rather at me. Your intellectualizing of the themes found in this comic has been very welcome. My finding my own humor in it and in these discussions… not so much.

I support Alex and this venture in all ways, so I’ll just have to moderate my involvement. I don’t know exactly what that means, but I’ll figure it out. I’m a big boy and, after all, it’s what DBIR do…

You and I have had some wonderful theoretical debates. I think they might have been some of the first ones — angels, devils, Ophans, Paladins, etc… However, at the same time for me, I cannot but smile, because we also have adorable boys in spandex who have nuclear trasportational orgasms, a demonic looking creature with flames shooting out of it’s head who calls our villain ‘maggot’, and a villain with perfect hair that we’ve hypothesized making a pillow out of, and a named Giant Floating Eyeball (just to mention a few things I find hysterial) … and so as much as all this just plain tickles me, and these things do make me laugh in the best way, I’ll consider my responses more closely.

That said, that my responses are clearly less enjoyed than the deep intellectual ponderings of the rules by which this AU and its characters operate is apparent.

The intellectual musings I very much enjoy. For me humor and intellect are not mutually exclusive and in my very personal world view a comic is supposed to be fun AND supposed to make us think (as you say articulately above). And this one does that for me int the best sense. For me, the humor doesn’t detract from the serious exploration, but I think for some… it may.

Like I said, these are half formed thoughts and so forgive them for not being very well communicated. I’ve noticed that Adam Black’s comic interjections, which I love, are very welcome. Understandable, as humor is a very personal thing and his is very clever and witty. It is probably just another thing I don’t yet understand clearly (not unusual as the list of things I don’t understand in life is long, friends).

Sonny, your deeper musings are very interesting and thought provoking and I’d never want you to feel forced to defend them because my joking detracts from their message. I’ll consider my own contributions and hopefully find a way to share my love of this Graphic Novel and yet not lessen anyone else’s enjoyment of it at the same time. So, I hope you, Adam and Jakk, Sofia and many other smart people will continue to consider the bigger questions. I really do enjoy them, and I shall privately consider my personal smaller questions and I suspect at least a portion of Alex’s concern will be automatically solved.

Thank you and very much looking forward to the next hypothesis.

            All best,
            ChrisD

          • The “explosion of comments” was actually a reference to us going from 200-300 comments a week to nearly 3000 a week. 🙂

I do appreciate any reader looking carefully at their own part in this, but this is about a dynamic that I see playing out consistently with a variety of folks and one that I think is often based on a misunderstanding of how much fun the other “debate partner” is actually having. That’s the concern that I’m looking to solve here.

While there might or might not be demons on the comic page above, I see no demons in our comment section, only beloved commenters like yourself who add to my own enjoyment through your enthusiastic engagement and participation. And I want to make sure that this space is as pleasant for y’all as it can be. 🙂

          • Thank you Alex. Kindly said. I shall help as needed.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

I wouldn’t be too sure about that. I nearly bit Adam’s head off down there unintentionally, but left up my reply because I can take my lumps.

And see, left up to me, I know that you are joking. You could write a mockumentary about my spinning, put me in a spandex onesie and I would laugh through the whole thing. I know I seem to take things too seriously and that is ripe teasing material over a comic book.

It’s just that I don’t have all the time in the world (As I’ve gotten older, my impatience has gotten worse. I know the clock is ticking on me and this is it, my life, my big shot, I don’t want to waste it arguing over things that don’t matter -or sleep, or facebook or what have you. I need to get things done.To see, do be and experience- with everyone in the world. It doesn’t matter if I’m “right” here, for example, and for someone to expect me to defend my position when it doesn’t matter seems crazy. You agree or you don’t, or you find me amusing, or you don’t. But if I don’t reply, I look like a smug brainy jerk. If I tell people to go “look it up”, I’m a smug brainy jerk. I look like a jerk now and certainly feel like one. DBIR) to answer replies (I know it seems like I have that time, but this is my internet talking right here, beyond email and things for work) and I very much like replies that give me something to think about. I don’t want to have to wade through endless repetition of “defend your posts, sirrah!” because someone looks at our silliness as fact to be held up against the spinning. I really don’t have a lot of patience -as anyone in real life could tell you- and that’s my fault, not yours or anyone else’s.

I am in no way shape or form mad at you, Chris. I haven’t laughed so hard in years as I have at some of you and Adam’s posts deconstructing my intellectual vomit (because that’s basically most of what it is, isn’t it– a torrent of ideas tied together loosely dumped out here for inspection.) with humor. You remind me very much of my best friends of now many years.

If you aren’t too angry with me and hit me up on gmail, I will talk with you till the cows come home. As far as here, I feel like I’ve made a mess of something really nice and I need a little while to think about that.

          • Sonny,

I’m neither angry or insulted and it would be my great pleasure to chat with you anytime. I’m sorry that I don’t know how to find you on Gmail, but I’m on Google+ as myself with this avatar. You’ll find all my necessary email info there. It would be a pleasure to exchange with you any time you wish. 🙂

            All my best,
            ChrisD

          • Adam Black

whoa. I had a death in my family. I am totally oblivious to any conflict on this board. I am not mad at anybody at all.

I literally have no idea what you are talking about.

That aside, If I have an opinion about the comic, ITS ONLY ABOUT THE COMIC, not any of the awesome posters and reader here, including you.

I couldnt judge you even if i wanted to as I have no information about your life. Nor do i think any character in the comic reflects any of the readers

( although I have a little silver , and am just as hung as Duncan. Beyond that no other parallels )

It also NEVER EVER my intention to belittle anyone on here or to put them down.

            ( re: D.I R )

I do want you and @chrisdangerfield:disqus to know I have developed a string uncomfortable feeling about a running self-deprecating joke you share .

While you are completely free to criticize yourselves in my mind, it has moved past deflating ego and letting others in, and I feel I am in danger of saying the wrong thing. which makes the conversation less safe to have. It was genuinely funny a few times, but ( In my mind ) it trips way to many alarm bells to be a safe joke to say over and over and over and over.

There is a big danger I could think i am just agreeing with you sometime and it would deeply insult you.
that isnt fair to either of us.

If I am not free to share your feelings, it makes me feel unsafe when you bring it up.

That I did actually anger you by merely commenting on the comic is a strong proof to me that my instincts of discomfort are spot-on in this case. ( think about it )

While i respect your private right to negative self-talk , I believe you meant it as a way to let people be closer, and not so much that people might be afraid of saying the wrong thing .

Even this conversation, telling you this is awkward for me. see? If people run the risk of angering you by pointing out a self-deprecating joke might have run its course , i see it that as proof that it could have.

But I do not have any negative feelings toward you on here, or anybody else. I am just trying to point that that a slur directed at onself, while a brilliant shared joke a few times, ( I WAS amused ) becomes inappropriate if said ALL the time.
            ………………………………………………………………

If people love duncan it doesnt hurt my feelings,

If people hate him it doesnt hurt my feelings.

I merely ask for the freedom to take the comic emotionally seriously or frivolously as I choose that varies from moment to moment.

But since I am a **chronic pain patient** with ***Real serious problems*** in the physical world, it is Unreasonable for anyone to expect I have the emotional wherewithal and endurance to share every sensitive emotion they have a about a fictional story.

I dont comment to “Push anybodys buttons”

            ( @stevenklimecky:disqus ) (( Although I feel safe joking with

            @Chris D ))

In my real life I have to concern myself heavily and daily with concerns that other people take for granted , like STANDING UP or walking to the store, —-and managing automatic emotions that get triggered from the inflammation and muscle tension of just trying to live a half normal life.

So if i choose to take an imaginary story like its imaginary ( or a real one, for escapist purposes ) I have very good reasons. Most people probably would not want to trade places with me.

I am here to have fun, not make anybody feel bad, and that is how I would like to be viewed.

But If I do say something that you or anyone thinks is meant personally ( without projecting ) I do want to know. I do want to be understood .

(( Projecting is where people get in trouble and confuse a reaction for an intent. I want people to feel safe to talk with me, talk yaoi911, fiction, and generally have a good time. ))

I hope this clears up any misunderstandings people may have had in the past or the present.

            Thanks
            Adam

          • Adam Black

Totally not angry with you or anyone.

            please see comment above

          • Steven K.

I think you are being too hard on yourself. If we can, as you say, get along with Adam’s comic interjections, we can certainly deal with yours.

          • SofiaT

I used to say “lets agree to disagree” when I got too tired of continuing a discussion that was getting nowhere (or was about to get out of hand) but, again, the problem with that is that people may take it to mean you’re cutting it there because you want to have the last word.

            It’s tricky.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

            Very much this.

          • And this is why I think a more stylized and accepted phrase—one that I make “official”—might be the solution here. While I do see “let’s agree to disagree” working, if you all are getting the impression that it’s being perceived as a tactic rather than the graceful bowing out of a debate that’s no longer fun or fruitful, then having a “magic phrase” with an agreed-upon, clear meaning that I announce and include as part of my comment moderation policy would be a solution.

To avoid the “claiming the last word” feeling, that “magic phrase” would have to be the entirety of the response. It couldn’t be the last sentence of a response rant or even after further “explanation” — that kind of hit-and-run commenting would obviously be about “getting the last word in.”

This would be the opposite of that—you’d actually be giving the other person the last word, but also letting them know that you’ve had enough and that you’d prefer not to have to continue the debate.

And the other person, out of respect for your wishes, would then be expected to drop it. And if they didn’t drop it and instead tried to prolong the same discussion by continuing to challenge you in other comments you make, well, then I’d step in.

So far, while I’ve seen some people get emotionally worked up in the comments, I don’t get the impression that anyone is looking to troll or not be respectful of other people’s feelings. So I really don’t think this is an insurmountable problem — I simply think it’s one that hasn’t been addressed yet. And it’s now time for me to address it.

Let me know if y’all have more thoughts on this, but after what each of you has said, I’m now more inclined to thinking that having a clear, universal, pre-written, respectful response like this as part of my official comment moderation policy is the way to go. Also, while I actually do think most people understand that bowing out of a discussion is very much not the same thing as “walking away in a huff”, making it explicit that people have permission to do this as part of my comment policy will I believe help make it clear for those who might think otherwise.

To be honest, most of the work would I think be about me addressing this issue publicly and setting up some ground rules in my official policy. But having a phrase like I was talking about would be part of that.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

            I think it’s a good idea.

          • SofiaT

I think that would work nicely.

          • Actually that would be great. Having found myself in need of bowing out of a discussion the other night, I wasn’t quite certain how to phrase it.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I think you phrased it quite well, Admiral. 😉

          • Thank you. 🙂

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I don’t mind debating a point to death if I have to. And I enjoy it most if it’s done one on one and respectfully. What I don’t particularly care about is having lots of people constantly jumping in demanding that you address this point or this other point over and over.
Unlike Sonny, I wouldn’t mind saying something like: “I’m tired of debating this”.
I don’t think that there is an easy solution to the problem, or maybe a solution at all. As Sonny said, some would probably feel hurt if you cut them off or don’t answer their posts.

  • JustStoppingBye

So, Laampros has branded them both and bound them together in this spell? Was this to keep Duncan from trying to weasel out of the deal or something more sinister? The genie in the bottle curse, maybe? Complete power…itty, bitty living space?

Laampros always seemed more interested in Kyle than Duncan to me. The last panel screams “I gave you what you want; now it’s my turn”.

    • OMG… Laampros and I are alike in this? DBIR may need a special chapter to cover this. LOL.

      • Gaz Hawkins

Kyle intrigues Lampy, he said Kyles Power was impressive. maybe lampy has heard of a “human” that will have great power in that realm and he is wondering if Kyle is the “human’ and/or if he can forge an alliance or such with Kyle
as for the glyphs, maybe it’s a protection spell, so when lampy sets in motion whatever is to bring about the end of the world, Duncan will be spared (or not) due to the glyphs – kind of “get out of jail free” card

    • Wayne Lunkwitz

Another theory……all the power in “the world”, but to remain trapped in the underworld for all eternity….it’s like Gov’t contracts that give you everything but the fine print takes it all away!

      • JustStoppingBye

I think that Laampros will uphold his end of the bargain…in a way. Everyone goes back through the portal, Duncan gets his portion of the world, Laampros brings his “troops” through, but then he does a body switch with Duncan. So, Duncan gets to be immortal, but at the cost of having to go through life looking like Lamps.

        Contracts are a b*tch.

  • SpookyDomme

    Yowch!
And awww, Kyle. Poor baby. That expression of rage and despair. *sniff*

  • Klaus

The signing has left a glowing signature on Laampros’ arm. It has no other glowing glyphs anywhere on its person (that we have seen).

Is that because the glowing glyphs are temporary? Or because it has no other pact? Or because there is something special about this of all its pacts?

    • Interesting idea…

    • Klaus

Replying to myself: now I notice that in the last frame, the glyphs have already stopped glowing. Well, as we say in Danish: the first thing to go blind is the eyes.

      • Jakk Anthony Guzman

The glyphs most likely appear when Laampros wants them to, maybe to seal a bargain. If you look at page 41, panel 3 you can see that he has no glyphs on his arm. So now that he doesn’t need them, they are disappearing.

    • davefragments

In folklore, Wotan (of the Valhalla legend) inscribes his treaties on his spear and those treaties both expand and restrict his power. It is the spear of might and symbol of his godhead. It isn’t the only object or person of power in those legends.

I think that Laampros uses those runes in much the same way.

      • Steven K.

Hmmm – I’d say the Ring is certainly an object of power, as well as certain other bits of weaponry, such as Nothung, etc. The tarnhelm is magical and thus powerful in what it can do, but not quite a symbol, as well, of power itself.

    • Thank you and DONE.

      • SofiaT

Hey C, I got a notification that you’re now following me on Disqus. I have set my account to be private so not sure how this is supposed to work -can you see my postings or do I need to do something to “accept” your follow?

        Cheers.

        • Wow, I’m no Disqus expert (what I know mostly came to me from Professor Admiral). I just always find your thoughts interesting, so I thought your posts would just appear in my Disqus Dashboard stream whenever you publicly posted on the list.

However, you’re right, there is no information showing under your profile at all… just a black box.

If you have any concerns, just let me know, and I’ll unfollow. 🙂

          All best,
          ChrisD

          • SofiaT

No, I don’t have any concerns, I just can’t figure out how to allow you to follow me without changing my privacy settings.

Maybe I need to follow you too. I’ll google it.

          • No, don’t change a setting. Since the posts are already public they’ll either appear… or not. I’ll let you know which it is next time you post. If not, then I’ll still see them in the normal way. Thanks for checking. (I’m over twelve-years-old so it takes me a bit longer to get this tech worked out. LOL)

            Best,
            ChrisD

          • Following doesn’t seem to really have any bearing other what one sees on the Discus Dashboard or within the discus digest, but not the regular discuss email notices.

Now from here, there isn’t any way to follow you, but apparently if I were to go to my Dashboard and a view one of the conversations between you and I, it seems that it would allow me or others to follow you from there.

On another note, mind if I followed you? 😀

          • SofiaT

Haha, feel free -I’ll follow you too if that’s ok!

I’m just not sure what good it will do you, with my account being set on private and all. I hope you’ll be able to see me -when I go to my account and I’m logged out, all I see is a lock.

          • Feel free! 🙂

It is locked when I’m on the YP page and I click on your name. I’ve found clicking on my name here, that I only see my posts, not those I follow. I only see those posts when I actually go to discus itself. I’ll hit follow there and see if any of your posts show up there.

I’ve been looking at the follow thing as: oh hey, I like you and your posts. Or something like that, cause I have yet to figure out the point of it outside that. 😀

          • SofiaT

I can see the point of it, especially when there are so many comments in a page and you feel like you can’t catch up: you go to the accounts of people whose comments you usually enjoy reading, and get them from there. This way you’re sure you don’t miss any.

In my case, I’ve set my account on private because I don’t want everyone and their mother to have access to everything I’ve ever written online. Although I’ve said plenty about my RL here already, if someone really wants to find me they can do so, I guess. Would rather not make it too easy for them though.

          • That’s true. It does make it easier to find certain commenters. And their posts usually do show up in the discus dashboard.

I understand the privacy thing, I guess that’s why I’ve kept Admiral Jane all these years. 🙂

Oh hey, on a completely unrelated note, I’ve been researching the hippocamp(us). Any good myths or legends you know of?

          • SofiaT

Mmm, not really. They were “sea-horses” with a fish tail as the bottom half of their body, that carried Poseidon’s chariot (Poseidon is also the god of horses as well as being god of the seas and all bodies of water -horses in mythology are symbols of water springs). Other than that, not much can be said about them.

          • I was wondering about why they were half fish. I really should pay more attention to what I’m reading. I’m working on a mythology regarding them in my writing, though I’m kinda combining greek and norse mythology for it. But that actually helps some. I’m going to assume horses as symbols of water springs because horses are supposed to know how to find water?

          • SofiaT

I think it has to do with fertility -and also there is a connection with the underworld. Horses, like Hermes, are considered “psychopompoi” = guides of the souls of the dead to Hades. To go to the Underworld you had to pass through water (river Styx, Akherousia lake)… so horses and water are connected.

I’m pretty positive the ancients thought that springs sprang if a horse’s hoof hit the ground very hard too.

When Poseidon was competing with Athena for the right to take (and name) the city then known as Kekropeia (later, Athens) his gift to the people of the city was a horse -meaning he would give them water. When he lost the competition, in his rage he took all the sources of water away from the city, which is why Athens still relies to the lake of Marathon for its water supply.

          • Fascinating! I had planned to use fertility in part of it. So that works great. The whole area relies on the sea, so I was going that route. This should help a bunch, thanks! 😀

          • SofiaT

            Don’t mention it 🙂

          • Edit: 🙂

          • SofiaT

            Noted!

          • And so received! 🙂

          • Hey AJ, @disqus_P2huBPd9nS:disqus and @chrisdangerfield:disqus
Another way to see the comments made by those you follow is to click My Disqus, where you also see you notificiations, and there you also have the choice to click ‘Now in your community’. That one shows you the latest comments made by all you follow. I think that one works as well if you follow a private account. The account holder has allowed you to see their comments.

          • SofiaT

            Ah, great. Thanks Wolf!

          • Thanks Wolf, but where exactly is “My Disqus?” I can get to my Dashboard just fine, but I don’t seem to have that particular button. Maybe because I use Apple?? Anyway, thank you.

          • I’m on a Mac, so it’s not that. Just go up to notifications at the top of the comments, you should see “My Discus” and click on that, then you should see “Now” click on that.

          • Under the main comment box, at the top of the comments. Where you usually see a red number when you get replies. Click that. There’s the option to also see your network.

          • Oh hey, I did not know that. Thanks!

    • SofiaT

      Awesome!

      • vessto

        Thank you!:)

  • AliceVenturi

Heh. I think maybe, eventually, Duncan is going to wish Laampy had just taken his arm off. If one were to use folklore and literature as a guide, pacts with demons work both directions: the human gets what he wants, sure; but if the human transgresses the pact one iota, the demon gets everything. And Laampy appears to be a demon who would really like to get everything.

And I really don’t like the way Laampy is glowering at Kyle. Bad demon! No biscuit! Leave the hero alone!

  • SofiaT

Did anyone notice that Laampros didn’t carve the runes on Duncan’s arm? He carved other patterns (possibly random, just to draw blood or maybe they had a significance too) but the runes were transferred from his own arm when he forced the two arms together -like a burning brand.

Does that mean that Laampros is also bound to someone (or something) else??

    • Sapfo

Edit # 1 you did. I believe that is what happened, a transfer of the carvings like a brand into his own arm.

      • SofiaT

Yeah, once I paid closer attention I came to that conclusion too. 🙂

I don’t drink coffee in the mornings (or in general) but I guess I should at least have breakfast before starting to search the page for clues! 😛

        • Sapfo

Some days the brain just cant keep up when commenting. Maybe coffee is the fix you need 😉

          • SofiaT

Nuh uh. I’m a tea person -or hot chocolate if I’m feeling naughty!

I do have a chocolate-chip muffin sitting next to me though and ready for me to sink my teeth into. I’m sure that will do the job!

          • Sapfo

You must be very naughty indeed, ms T. But I think you need it.

          • SofiaT

There’s a thing going on in Sydney every year, at the Opera House, called “The Festival of Dangerous Ideas”. Lots of interesting talks and discussions, with speakers from all around the world. I was there all day yesterday, came home close to midnight. While fun, I think it left my brain temporarily fried.

            I need that muffin indeed!

          • Denise Cruz

I wish I was there too! It sounds SO interesting! I do like this kind of thing! (A lot!) 😀

          • Sapfo

Sofia, did you see Thor in 3D?

          • SofiaT

No, I avoid 3D when there is that option. It doesn’t really offer you much -and it usually gives me a headache.

          • Sapfo

And I feel nauseous by it. But sometimes it is worth it, I would not have want to miss Avatar in 3D, but most movies after that one have not given me anything more in 3D.
That is why I wonder. But I will see this one in none 3D then.

          • SofiaT

I rememeber in the first Thor movie (which I had watched in 3D) the opening sequence of the universe was just stunning. The rest of the film was like a normal 2D, with some blurriness here and there.

I watched Man of Steel on 3D the first time (because I had no other choice) and 2D the second time. I didn’t notice any difference other than the annoying glasses not being there 😀

          • Sapfo

Most movies don´t use the 3D for what it can really do. And that is kind of sad. I rather they put out a good movie or really put an effort into it.

I think it was Monster U that was the last 3D i watched and it was first afterwards I remember that it was suppose to be 3D. The movie was okay. but I did not notice the 3D effect was disappointing.

          • SofiaT

You’re right, a lot of them are filmed on 2D and then converted to 3D in post-production. It doesn’t have the same effect, it just makes the ticket more expensive.

          • Sapfo

            That is sad.
Well if I am going to see one more 3D movie this year it is going to be the Hobbit. But Thor will be 2D.
            Thank you!

          • Dokidokibaka

My experience has been that the 3-d works better for the trailers before hand than the movie itself, which I find annoying.

        • Breakfast is always a good thing. 😀

    • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

It looks like Angelic Script. (I explained that a little further down)
      http://www.steliart.com/angel_images/angelic%20script.jpg

What appears on his arm first looks exactly the same– then fades on Laampros as it cools. The faded image begins to look like cuneiform (another point in the angel category– Cherubim were babylonian before they were hebrew and what moves an Ophan? Cherubim! Hush. Let me dream.)– probably to hide Laampros real name (which is on Duncan’s arm).

      • SofiaT

I know nothing about angelic script or angelic knowledge, but is this like the idea that if you know a thing’s (or person’s) true name, you can control it or summon it? In the Fever series, the Seelie Prince V’lane gives Mac his real name with a kiss (so she can’t pronounce it or know it but she can still call it -once- if she ever needs him). I assume Laampros bound Duncan to himself but what that means and what repercussions it may bring, I can only imagine…

        • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Pain. I predict that Adam is right about that part. Pain is one of the repercussions.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

How do you think the bargain is going to affect Sircea, Sonny? Pain for her too, I suppose, but she is not marked like Duncan is. He seems to have gotten the worst part of it.

          • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

She’ll have some kind of weasel out of the worst of it.

        • sonoftheatomicbiscuithead

Yes. Very much like that. To agree to a contract, an angel must employ its true name. A human knowing the true name of an angel can command it. It’s why angels are known by euphemisms.

Examples with a little attached lore:
Samael– “God’s Punisher” Befitting, since he hands out butt-whippings in hell. Samael is usually confused with Satan and Lucifer. He doesn’t much care who he’s punishing, but his drive is to expel wickedness from the weak. In a lot of ways he’s like the Furies of greek myth, even down to his description with the snakes and all.

Satanel– (satan’s full euphemism) “Adversary belonging to god” He is the caltrop under your foot in life, the banana peel thrown in your path, the guy who would really enjoy seeing you screw up because it proves his point to his beloved father. Satan’s point? We suck. There’s only a handful of humans that rise about the level of depraved parasite for him. He is sometimes referred to as Michael’s twin– as they are collectively known as the “peacock” angels, because of the thousands of eyes in their wings.

Michael– “The one who is like unto God” also a pun “Who is like god?” God’s right hand man, dispenser of what passes for justice, and the guy who told Satan to grab his crap and go live in the basement because his music was giving dad migraines. Michael is the guy who forgets what mercy (god has a very creative, creepy way of reminding him) is and is described as “carved from ice” and having millions of faces. He takes whatever God says at face value and there are no creative interpretations in your favor. He also thinks humans are parasites, but God ordered him to kneel to them, so he does.

Gabriel– “God’s Might” or “Able-one/Potent-one Belonging to God” God’s left hand man, and the craftier of the big two. Fitting because Gabe is the angel of birth and death, and he’s the guy dispatched with his Host to raze cities. Interestingly enough he has creatively defied god’s orders on a couple of occasions in folklore (one time being put in the divine equivalent of timeout while another angel took his place. That angel -Sandalphon, I believe- enjoyed the death part a little too much, going on a killing spree, so Gabriel was taken back from exile without actually apologizing). He likes us very much– probably since his sphere of influence is directly tied with mortal affairs. He has three eyes on his face, mentioned the hebrew version of Daniel, I think, and is described as a terrifying looking creature of lightning and fire with so many wings of light that his wings have wings have wings and he looks like a ship in full sail when they’re unfurled.

Uriel– “Light belonging to God” Uriel is described as “The Angel of Terror” with a “voice like thunder”, and with good reason. He is fear, all the fear, every speck of it– from the fear that keeps you safe to the kind that paralyzes you. He is also associated with nature– particularly the “red in tooth and claw” part. He’s the guy set outside the gate of Hell in the fifth layer of heaven, and he carries the keys to the Pit on his belt. He does not like humanity in general, finding us spineless (although he likes those who try to face their fear), but he also thinks Satan is a moron. He is described as a whirling volcanic storm with a face of blinding lightning.

I don’t think I have to go on— but when you know that Cherubim sport bull horns on their heads and all the angels are monsters (the vatican decided they had to all be depicted as winged men, more or less, so that people wouldn’t worship them as gods), it’s hard to look at Laampros as anything but just another member of the lovecraftian circus that are angels.

As far as being bound to Dunks… pain. A lot of it. Very few people end up well when a big angel takes interest in them. You have to hope for the Plague-bringer or Death (Raphael or Gabriel), because the others tend to be careless with mortals either purposefully or because they get distracted or because they genuinely just forget.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Thank you for your detailed post, Sonny. Very informative. 🙂

          • Simba Hutchison

Thank you, this is awesome information!

    • Adam Black

      good catch

    • Klaus

They are not runes. Runes are meant to be carved in wood, and therefore consist of straight lines and angles. What is carved here consists entirely of curves.

      • SofiaT

You’re right, wrong choice of word. I used it because “runes” in my head is connected with druids and mystical rituals.

        • Klaus

The alphabet of the druids is even more linear than the runes. Just lines, no angels save for a few special letters. You can see it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogham

      • Steven K.

I think it’s ok to use that term generally – we know what was meant. Maybe “sigils” would be more appropriate though? However, runes are VERY often carved in stone (not just wood), and can be sewn into cloth or “written” onto some medium. The “rune” is the symbol itself, like a “letter” – they don’t have to be carved into anything, or anything in particular, to be what they are.

  • Wayne Lunkwitz

The ultimate slap to Duncan would be to give everything to Kyle, and leave Duncan trapped with Laampros for eternity

  • sharks

Laampros’s face as he notices Kyle’s (frustrated?) tears though. and then there’s Anni cradling his arm in the back.

    • SofiaT

I think Anni is shocked. First burned, then carved? This doesn’t go well with the image he’s built for himself. He’s probably in the middle of an existential crisis right now.

As for Kyle, something tells me that is a furious tear. I often cry when I’m pissed off.

I think he’s about to go “boom!”

      • I agree, definitely boom!

      • sharks

Yeah, I was torn between thinking he was either frustrated at himself for getting caught in such a situation, or angry and about to blow up! By the way, was I the only one to think Laampros was going to completely take Anni’s arm off?

        • Steven K.

I think he’s feeling a combination of both.

  • timemonkey

I know people have speculated that Anni’s going to be made younger than he wishes but I wonder if, instead of being made into say a baby he’s instead made a teenager. Old enough to function but too young to really take advantage of anything, especially if he’s regressed mentally too (which could also allow his thing with Kyle to continue in some way).

    • Tahir Raines

I wouldn’t mind a teen Ani as long as he keeps being muscly.

  • Ikaru Sentinal-K’Valshar

Ooh. that looked painful…and Anni isn’t used to ever being in pain. This is not going his way.

  • Thanatopia

This can’t be good. Probably not even for Anni.

  • b3nc0

Is the skin mark similar to the Death-mark of He-who-shall-not-be-named & Duncan will be called to his Master feet by a mere skin-touching on Laampy’s side & a scorching remembrance on Duncan’s side?
Or is it a ‘mating’, shall I say, ritual & therefore the reason for Kyle’s crying?

PS: I’m sadistically happy to see that Duncan’s burns aren’t healed in the slightliest way b^w^d

  • Xalun K

I’m not sure if anyone’s noticed this (because 550 comments is a lot to read through), but does anyone else find it ironic that Laampros carved the binding/contract into Anni’s burned arm, or think it might be symbolic of something?

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I don’t know if that has any significance or just Laampros being mean because he doesn’t like Duncan. Laampros markings are on his left arm while he chose Duncan’s right arm.

      • Xalun K

Yeah, that’s also a possibility. Laampros is being an ass because Duncan was an ass.

    • I figure Big Red was being sadistic. Plus it was an easy grab as Duncan was holding it out.

    • Jamie Dutton

I’m thinking it’s partly sadistic, like Admiral Jane said. But then I wondered if it would heal all wonky or not at all, even with his powers and whatever else he gets later.

      • If the carving does heal, I’m thinking he’ll be left with a gnarly scar. More gnarly than the scar from Kyle’s bbq attempt.

        • Jamie Dutton

I was thinking both the burn and the carvings would either heal very badly or not at all. A nasty little reminder of this whole thing…besides one very ticked off superhero.

          • Which might make (my wished for) meeting for coffee a bit difficult. Duncan’s coffee might be perpetually too hot and/or burnt. At least for a while. 🙂

Definitely an ugly reminder all the way around.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

It looks like we’re going to have to wait longer for the next page, Admiral. In one hour we’ll have turn the clocks back one hour. 😐

          • I hate the changing of the clocks. I lived for a year in Arizona, that was one of the best things about living there, the clocks never changed.

          • My brother’s family lived in AZ for years, and it would make me crazy when my time would change and his wouldn’t… HA…

          • I loved AZ for that (plus cheaper gas, cheaper food, pretty scenery). I laughed and laughed when that time came for everyone, but then we moved back to Cali just in time for a time change. Bah!

Of course July/August was hell on earth. 110+ degrees with 80 percent humidity.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Whoops! I guess your time change won’t happen for three hours then. I’m on the east coast, 15 mins. to go for me until it’s official.

          • No. Other than the computers, the house clocks have already been set back, so it’s already starting. Ugh.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

He will probably wear something to cover it up. Maybe switch what he is wearing on his left arm to his right arm.

          • Or finally even up the outfit and wear vambraces on both arms. Nitpicky, yes, sir.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Ah, you like balance. Me too. 😀

          • Well yes. It just never made sense to me that he only wore one vambrace. Maybe if he were an archer, but he’s obviously not so… humph. 🙂

          • Simba Hutchison

Well his current bracer hold his shuriken things, maybe he can only throw right handed?

          • Maybe, but he could still have a blank one yeah? I’m just weird that way. 🙂

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Or the other one could be used to hold spares?

          • That’s true to. Spares are good or some other small throwing weapon.

          • Simba Hutchison

He was wearing two gloves before the roasting Kyle gave him. But two bracers would definitely be more symmetrical. Maybe he does it on purpose to annoy OCD people. Bastard.

          • Dammit! He probably is doing it just to annoy.

Plus I just like vambraces, I think they’re cool (like fezzes and bowties) 🙂

        • Steven K.

If Duncan’s powers of healing and regeneration are so complete (at least after he gets out of there) to the point where his arm actually goes back to looking like normal – all the tissue is totally repaired to its original state – so that the “signature” totally disappears, would that somehow magically release Duncan from the agreement? (Laampros would still have a “copy”.)

          • Mystically, I think the contract would still be binding since it was also sealed in blood. The skin might not show it, but it might light up Laampros calls to him. Or something like that.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I agree with Admiral Jane, he belongs to Laampros now. And the “signature” is probably way more powerful than any healing powers Duncan has.

  • pinglederry

Aww, poor Anni. 😛 Idk. These last couple of pages have me seeing him as more like Stuntman Mike from Death Proof or Captain Hammer from DHSAB; they can take risks and dish out pain, and even maybe take it sometimes when it’s part of the plan and they’re in control, but they have no pain tolerance at all when they’re caught by surprise or seriously injured. I could be wrong, as iirc Anni took some decent damage in the the fight with the idiot mercenaries, but the combination of shocked outrage after Kyle burned him and the way he’s crouched hunched over his injured arm in today’s page (along with the way he’s been acting with Laampros so far) reminds me strongly of Stuntman Mike during the car chase and then after, when his arm’s been broken.

  • Saikkusukka

I don’t know if anyone else noted this since there’s 580+ comments, but what if this deal makes Anni’s powers go away and in exchange he gets his youth?

    • That would be some kick in the pants!

      • Saikkusukka

Tell me about it 😐 in case he didn’t get kicked enough by being burned. And carved.
        A bad day for Anni.

        • Well, he kinda deserves the bad day (which I say with love lol). I mean for giving Kyle one of the worst birthdays in comic history.

          • Saikkusukka

True that. Kyle even lost his virginity to him in the process!

          • Someone needs to take Kyle to Vegas after this.

          • Saikkusukka

Yup. And get a fireproof place where he can have his own gentlemen’s time.

          • Livia

i dont think he lost his virginity yet.. they just jerk off each other.

          • Steven K.

Well, it’s a matter of perspective and how you define it. I think they did have sex – being naked with another naked man on top of you and pressing and rubbing hard penises together to the point of orgasm – um, I think that counts. He may not have lost his anal virginity, but he’s not a complete virgin anymore – just to certain acts still.

          • Saikkusukka

            I agree with you, Steven.
In any case, that was Kyle’s first time, and it’s got to have some effect on him. I’m quite sure he will be very persistent on not trusting any man from here on out.
Anni’s been the biggest douche I’ve ever met >:| I still have a very naíve hope that he’ll turn around.

          • Livia

well…yeah I agree he losst it to Duncan but… I want to think he didn’t because to me I feel that A-sex is the actual sex. oh well… everyone has their own concept in the mind.

          • Steven K.

Hmmm – then that makes me a nearly 50-yo virgin. Any takers?

          • Saikkusukka

Yup c: I backtracked to the actual happenings on the comic, and at first Kyle didn’t think they were having sex yet either. But Duncan convinced him otherwise 😐

          • Steven K.

Well, I still say if you are naked and one on top and one underneath, and are induced to shoot your load from bumping and grinding your bare and hard erections into each other’s – well, that’s a kind of sex in my book.

          • Steven K.

Hmmm – then I guess that makes me a nearly-50-year-old virgin. Any takers to help with that?

          • Steven K.

Maybe Monte Carlo / Monaco or some other fancy destination along the French Riviera. Though there is that faux “Monte Carlo” casino in Vegas as well, for a cheaper experience – but if Duncan’s gonna go for thousands of rose-petals and ultra-pricy wine, I’d have to do him one better (well, that and actually treating Kyle the way he should have been treated and the ways a lot of us had been hoping for).

          • I was thinking Vegas because what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Gamble some, have a crazy night out. Maybe see Thunder from Down Under.

          • Steven K.

Well, the headquarters for Paradise Electro-Stimulation (PES) and their flagship “boutique” is located there as well. Hmmmm…. might be nice to “light up” in a few other ways than just flames.

          • Adam Black

I think this falls under the class of scenarios for a “Bad Idea Jeans” Commercial…..

You want to show Kyle you are different, so you want to
Take a Boy, that was paralyzed with a pleasure spell and literally taken to hell, and take him on a vacation where he is strapped down and his genitals electroshocked?

That will certainly show him you are different from Duncan, alright.

I can imagine the next Young Protectors: Therapy Interlude , next

If you have kinks you want to work out, i would suggest you stick with Heat-based tools on fireboy … burning wax, hot coals.

          • LOL… AJ & SK, I leave little Kyle alone with you two for just a few scant hours and heavens… it’s a lost night in Vegas. Nowwww, I’ve forgotten about Laamppy and I’m worried about Bradley Cooper holding his head while he hurls, Zach Galifianakis bringing bad choices for his “First” time back to the hotel suite (Het boys don’t know how to pick them… sorry het boys… no offense), and Mike Tyson trying to beat Kyle up by mistake and then getting incinerated… (you see the problem? … well maybe you don’t).

See I think a drunken weekend in Vegas is a recipe for disaster… for Kyle’s FIRST time. Just get him laid by Asbestos Boy and THEN we can work up from there. I promise, I’ll butt out, just want you crazy kids to survive your good intentions. XD

            Okay.

Just trying to think things through AJ and SK… please I’m only thinking of you and the town of Vegas. Honestly.

With your best interests at heart,
            ChrisD

          • Oh I wasn’t thinking of that for the poor kid, just a fun night of craziness. I mean Thunder from Down Under. That’s as close as he needs to get methinks.

          • Steven K.

I know. I wish I could personally make it up to him somehow.

    • Tahir Raines

It would suck for him, but he would still have The Platinum Priestess to watch his back and possibly use some of her magic to give him some semblance of his powers back.

      • Saikkusukka

Hmm, yes, but I think it would humiliate Anni even further, to be so dependent on someone else.

    • Livia

thats what i hope too.. he made a deal with the devil that much is expected, isn’t it?

      • Saikkusukka

With Kyle’s outburst, Laampros seemed to grasp some opportunity. It makes me suspicious. Something is wrong here!

  • Vincent

Not the most sanitary way to sign a contract but whatever, to each his own.

    • AnSpideogDhubh .

Exactly, would you get away with this in a regular company meeting? Seems like it’s one set of rules for demonic beings of trans-cosmic power and another set of rules for the rest of us.

  • ScorpioladyCZ

    Ok.
I’m very SAD to say this, I am, but before I used to be able to LOOK at the
pages and enjoy them, now I literally CANNOT look at them, I’m being death
serious here. I read them as fast as possible because Laampros is T H E most
disgusting/disturbing/repelling thing ever. :-/ I don’t want his hideous face
to be stuck in my head for long. I’m SO looking forward on pages without him!
But I fear there will be many WITH his as he THE main villain here. :-/ I
think the main fight will be against him, so yeah… Not looking forward to
    that.
This used to be my the favourite comic, but now… not so much.

I know this it just my own problem, but… I wanted to share this… I’m really sad because of this, you know…

    • Tahir Raines

Just imagine him as a very large, very red black-eared bunny.

      • Simba Hutchison

… Now I can’t stop seeing his horns as bunny ears ROFL!

        • Livia

same here.. a fluffy bunny. with a basket of choco eggs?

    • timemonkey

As far as demons go I consider him pretty tame and somewhat generic in appearance.

    • Steven K.

I feel a little bit similarly, but what I find difficult to watch / look at are his interactions with Kyle – or Kyle being used/abused/tortured/traumatized in various ways – physically or emotionally – by Duncan or Laampros. But I really do feel your pain and frustration!! Let’s hope things SOMEhow get better soon! *HUGS*

    • Denise Cruz

Really?! Do you think Laampros is more disturbing than ‘George’?!? O.O (The big flying eyeball)

That thing drove me so crazy I couldn’t even look at the first page where it showed up, without get bad chills, for more than a week!

Ok! Laampros isn’t such an appealing guy, too! I have to agree with you on that. But… worse than George?! For real?! XDD

All right! I’m not criticizing you or anything like that… I ‘m just surprised!

(Adam and Veronica are amazing with their arts. Aren’t they? Their work can even makes freak out, sometimes! It always makes me awed!)

Anyway, just don’t give up on the comic because of Laampros. (I’m sure he would love it so badly, once he’s a devil). But, you know this is a great work; that’s why it gets such intense reactions from us. I know you’re feeling uncomfortable right now, (as I once was, looking at that creepy eye!) but I’m sure it will be worth your effort to keep reading it. Just don’t look at that stupid red face for much time. You can even put a piece of paper over it, if it helps! Believe me it’ll worth the effort! Laampros won’t be there for ever! 😉

I really hope seeing you here again! – Hugs –

      • Valja

What?? Someone else was scared by the creepy eyeball apart from me??? *hugs Denise* I thought I was the only one!! Apparently here there’s a sort of George Fandom and I felt like an outcast xD Seriously, now that it doesn’t pop up in the panels I’m afraid of finding it under my bed, or in the wardrobe…

        • Denise Cruz

          Yay!! *hugs back*
I totally understand your fears! That thing made me dizzy and nauseous every time it appeared; but it was much worse on first time!
My brother even laughed at me, because I had strong reactions looking at that creepy thing!
I’m so glad I became less sensitive about it! ^v^

Oh! I know the feeling! I also feel a little bit like an outcast, sometimes, but because of Anni! (I still like him the most and don’t wanna see him hurt! – well, maybe just a little bit. He does need to learn some things and regret about others.)

Anyway, about ‘George’ coming for an unexpected visit… I believe it would be pretty hard for him. Big flying eyeballs are pretty susceptible to infections and allergies when they are forced to leave their hellish homes … lol

    • Dokidokibaka

Personally, I find Laampros sexy. Get him down to human size so he wouldn’t tear me apart, and I really wouldn’t mind being intimate with him. I really like how he manages to have a long goatee and chest hair ^_^

      • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I find him a very interesting character, so far he hasn’t done anything that one could call evil. We’ll have to wait and see.

        • That’s true. It was Duncan who suggested he would have souls to devour.

Well, I guess everyone has their own different tastes and fears…
I’ll join the chorus and tell you: don’t stop, please 🙂 Yes, probably we’ll see Laampros again in later pages, but I get the feeling the main part of the story will be more focused on the “superheroes vs supervillains” part. Ergo, more Young Protectors vs Duncan and his allies… If the demons were to reach Earth that soon, don’t you think the comic would end too early? (and that would be a tragical ending, since demons rampaging in our world would be quite impossible to stop).
Stay strong, and wait until our two heroes go back to the mortal world! Just imagine a big giant chili pepper whenever you see the red of Laampros’ skin 😉

  • Simba Hutchison

I just went back a reread the first few pages and I have to say that the evolution of the art from then until now is completely mindblowing. Seriously, I am so impressed. Beautiful.

  • WarGoddess

Duncan: Ow ow ow ow OW!!! I was just burned, that arm is sensitive, and you just HAD to carve the binding on THAT one? WTF?!!!
Laampros: Hey, if you haven’t noticed, there’s a large shortage of pumpkins here, and Halloween was just here, and I had nothing to use for a Jack-o-Lantern! You seemed like the perfect replacement. And stop crying like a little bitch. You don’t know the meaning of pain. True pain is having to sit through constant replays of the scene in The Lion King where Mufasa dies. Here in my world, that’s the only thing we get on T.V.
Kyle: Dammit, now you have ME crying!

    • Ha!

    • Livia

nice little dialogue u have there.. damn creative. 🙂

      • WarGoddess

        Why thank you! 😀

  • Sapfo

    Duncan is bleeding!
    Kyle is crying!
And Laampros have sealed the deal!

But why do I think Laampros has become a little too interested in Kyle. Not interested like before, when he was using Kyle as a power again Duncan, but really interested.

I do believe that Duncan was somewhat truthful when he said that Kyle not being able too speak would keep him from getting hurt. And now Kyle did protest and showed his powers: FIRE! And Laampros is kind of the “king” in this fiery landscape. That would make me interested, so why not Laampros?
Maybe Laampros likes making deal with people. Maybe he wants to make a deal with Kyle.

Chris, to you I am sorry. I do not think you get to turn your magnet right this coming week. I think it might be to early in the story.

There is a lot of unanswered questions right now. And I do not think that the next page is going to answer them.

What more… well this analyzing may just be a reason for not doing my school assignment, so I guess I should get back to that… right?

  • fujoshifanatic

Poor Kyle! All the anger and fear he’s feeling is just leaking out! And it feels bizarre to see Anni crouching in a ball on the ground in pain, so NOT in control of the situation. And unfortunately, I don’t think Laampros is interested in comforting Kyle at this moment, so that last panel has me practically undone! So glad I only have to wait until Wednesday to see what happens next!

    • Steven K.

Yeah – feeling rather undone here as well.

  • Livia

I’m curious about Laampros face in the last panel.. wonder whats is in his mind staring at the tears cover face of Kyle. Awww.. his crying face is so cute…I think I am a sadist. O.O (oh no)

    • Valja

I’m quite concerned about Laampros’ expression as well. In the previous page he seemed very interested, whereas in this last panel he looks… I dunno… pissed off? Thoughtful?
As for your sadism… Don’t worry. I ‘ve already thought of soooo maaany things I myself would have done to a powerless cute restrained Kyle.
But I admit I’d prefer a whipering, tied-up-like-a-sausage, uselessly angry Duncan. Because yeah, he’d deserve everything that comes out of my vengeful naughty mind.

      • Livia

        yeah SWEET RESTRAINTS.

  • Steven K.

Yeah – forget the boy – he is not for you. (He should be mine to take and hold and care for and nurse back to sanity and love and adore and ravish and show him what a true first-time experience should be like from beginning to end – hopefully several very happy endings).

    • Denise Cruz

XDDDDDD Agreed!! I vote for you, @stevenklimecky:disqus! lol

      • Steven K.

        LOL – Thanks!

        • Good job man! A new comic is born! 🙂

          • Steven K.

“The old and young protectors” “The young protector and his aging more-than-one-hand-in-the-grave lover” “Beauty and the Beast” (Oh – sorry – that’s been done) “Fire and Spice” “The Pitmeister Diaries: Pits of Fire” You know, if I have household accessories embroidered with my initials (SK), that would also work well for Steven/Kyle.

          • “Pits of Fire”
            *falls about laughing*
            Well done SK! Well done!

          • Adam Black

Your languages skills are improving young padawan,

In you I sense a rousing humor force, yes?

          • Ahhhhh yes young one… powerful joke is that.

*slams nobby little cane into the ground*

          • Steven K.

Actually, I’ve always been a rather funny guy – I actually do have a sense of humor – it’s rather dry in a number of situations (as in my classes) – it just hasn’t been able to come out much in recent years due to all the adversities I’ve been dealing with. As for my language skills in general, those have been reasonably top-notch since junior-high.

          • Adam Black

I strongly encourage you to take it out for a full gallop because of “all the adversities”

If they wont go away, they will have to suffer you making fun of them till they give up, cry and say “No, mas Uncle Steve”

Even if it only entertains one person, its the person that counts

    • Adam Black

Steven You come across as deeply sensitive , sentimental man.

I am doing something very important this evening, and you could help help me.

I need to write the outline of eulogy and large stretches of a eulogy for death of a long time lover. ( 33 years ). i am liable to err on it not being sentimental enough. let me know if you want to help. its easier than you might think. You could image its a fictional scenario

      • Steven K.

Hi Adam – I’m honored that you would think of me for this – I’m sorry I am getting back with you so late – I was visiting my mother most of the day and away from a computer. I’ll be up late, however, so if you get this response, feel free to reply. Are we allowed to give out e-mail addresses here?

        • Adam Black

          yeah.

I tagged iyou n my comment above,

with email address with more details.

If you think bea arthur ( maude or dorothy from golden girls you would nail it .

    • Valja

Awwwww so cute!! *ships Steven and Kyle*

Even though I’ve become rather insensitive and cynical since my last relationship was over, your comment managed to actually make me “meow” 🙂

      • Steven K.

Awww – Thanks. Big hug to you. And I feel for you concerning what you mentioned. I know how that can be – I’m still looking (even at my advanced age) to even FIND a decent relationship. I’ve always dreamed of finding someone like Kyle and treating him like the price he is, but that has of yet never happened, so at least I can still have Kyle as my “fantasy-lover”, since Duncan has obviously rejected him. He needs someone that he CAN trust forever after and will give him the love and support and affection that he probably feels can never be found. I’d want to restore his faith in men, and show him what the love of an older man can really do in all the positive ways that he ended up being so cruelly denied with Duncan.

    • You go SteveK!!! Give him the birthday he deserved!

    • Adam Black

ill let let you have him, and wont even try seducing him with a backrub ( not try..,It ALWAYS works )

but you have to film it for posterity.

in the future people will be sexpositive , unbigoted and want see this part of his life unedited especially from a superhero.

      its for historians, steve

      • I’ve always said that Adam is a “giver.” 🙂

      • Steven K.

If it meant some quality time with someone like young Mr. RedHot, I could be willing to put that on film – whatever it might take. I may be terribly shy (like Kyle is/was), but I also have some dreams/fantasies – NEEDS – the fulfilling of which could over-ride any number or peripheral issues.

        • Adam Black

put up a craigslist ad then:

Older professor looking for “Red HOt” ginger student to reach Anatomy Lessons.

    • Steel_Man

      Ugh…that’s just…ugh. Now, I need to see a dentist.

  • Steven K.

    That would be nice.

  • Saikkusukka

It’s about time Kyle’s inner hero to take over! I do hope he at least gets to stall Laampros from entering Earth 😐

  • Steven K.

    AGREED!!! Said so well!

  • Adam Black

    Hello Everyone,

I desperately Need help writing a Eulogy for …. Bea Arthur ?

seriously …. for you close enough. The deceased is my stepmother.

( A few people may noticed I was less present this Friday.

There was a death in my extended family. )

I am OK, nobody else is really clearheaded, and focused and skilled at writing. I wasnt that close to the deceased, but people I love were.

( it doesnt matter why. There was nothing I could change )

Also my distance and disabilities make it harder for me to help with all the physical arrangments, so its fitting that I help this way.

I could some help, in a way that regular users and posters here are best at.

Super gushy emotional heartfelt writing. The best way to imagine this if it was Maude or even Dorothy from the golden girls ( Bea Arthur ) .

If you think that way you will NAIL IT. Except make her a lesbian. Which isnt hard to imagine.

Guys, If youve everwanted to take a staring role in a Golden Girls life that would be TOTALLY PERFECT. The deceased would completely approve of this comparison. Their really are many, many parallels . So many that its easier to assume its the truth.

    ( sadly , i wasnt a golden girls fan. )

I was thinking that some sweet romantic Yaoi911 posters could help me
some some sad romantic parting words. It should be in a womans voice.
Treat it like a fanfiction. I do think if the deceased knew I was
helping to write her Eulogy she would absolutely approve of me reaching
out to romantic women to write her final words. She would probably
    INSIST on it.

My issues : TONE. I am more of an intellectual person than an emotional one.

((( I rely a ridiculous amount on deeply trained social intuition when dealing with others. My intuition is excellent, but its unconscious, and unreliable if I dont have the right feeling-sense. without it, i turn from a social butterfly into socially awkward weirdo that people misunderstand. There is easily 500 reasons on its face I am the wrong person to write this. But I would recognize the right tone If I saw it. )))

Plus she was never sentimental to me or around me. Which makes this task for me , infinitely harder. Every story has a story truth, if you will, and I am missing the central thread that would make this easy for me to write. But its my job, to find that thread, weave it into a strong rope and hand it to someone else so she can express her thoughts clearly.

Where you come in: You guys a veritable romance rope superstore. I want to bypass my intuition ( which isnt working ) .

This is the final chapter of a long love ( lesbian ) story ( that strangely I was never a witness to ) . Its the story of 2 long term lovers who always knew 1 would die an earlier death. BUt they were together for 33 years so they were not cheated of time together. But of course that brings up a lot of other issues. Which I probably dont understand. In this I know you cant go wrong by making it too sentimental. the deceased is leaving behind 1 adult daughter, a wife , 2 adult sons and 3 young biological grandchildren,

and 3 adult step grandchildren that viewed her as special aunt.

Its the lover and wife of the deceased that will be reading it. ( MY MOM )

I just want to book end it, and write prompts for her to talk about different things.

the deceased was a womans activitist, and spent many years volunterring at a crisis center for victims of rape/battery. Mentally she was tough, stubborn and generally got her way. Until the last two years of her life when she had to learn to depend more on others. Which was probably not easy for her. Because of her many different illness in the past year i think the people closest to her felt a little exhausted. The death was not a total surprise to them. ( I t was to me ) . reminding them of other times, and even reframing opinionatedness into say candidness, tougher times into being a fighter, … Her years post divorce and 3 kids ( think maude ) were challenging for her and her children and she had to be both mother and father.

I am thinking of titling it “A Life Of Love” . She didnt seem outwardly sensitive or emotional to me. She was a bit brass. Imagine you are writing this for Maude and it will be perfect. Really. Similar cultural background to Bea Arthur, similar views and life experiences to “Maude” ..

Outwardly she was very independent, Yet privately she was deeply sentimental and needy. ( or so i have been led to believe ) . It doesn’t matter. I DO have great intuition for the person reading this. And Framing this persons, life wishes sacrifices in terms of love is exactly what the grieving will want to hear.

and if you can imagine what maude or dorothy would want to leave as a final message to her friends and family then write that too.

    • SofiaT

      Hi Adam,
I’m very sorry for your loss. Will email you from home tonight because I’m at work at the moment. *hugs*

      • Adam Black

        Thanks, i appreciate it.

I just have to be there for my mom.

( which would be easier if i wasnt disabled and i had a car,
and the pipes didnt burst in my building yesterday, causing the fire dept to shut off all the water )

If i can write this well,

( I feel like crap … just a physical thing since i woke up. but its a distraction )
I will be redeemed in her eyes, for not being there when she died

( Not my fault, nobody told me she was that sick till the day before )

If anyone to write a few paragraphs ( bea arthur is totally perfect ) that would have a positive good in the world,

I can easily edit it with my own thoughts .

Im going to call it “A life of Love” and transmute any negativity by showing that she raised 3 kids on her own,

stubbornness becomes persistance, crassness becomes someones who always spoke their mind and was never two faced ( you get the idea , point out how even vices are really virtues they can remember, and she taught ) ,

being a bit of a busybody becomes that she was “a determined social activist” even with her friends .

and point out her actions were of person who cared even if you didnt agree with them.

But you guys are really awesome and whatever you write fanfictional will be way better than me.

Even though I knew her we werent close, so it feels like fanfiction.

        @admiraljane:disqus @chrisdangerfield:disqus @fc6208f8c0c0706e8e8a0fe083e0eef4:disqus @smsif:disqus

and thanks for the kind words. But this is no more challenging for me that what I deal with every week.

Well almost , having to get up super early tomorrow and walk a mile, and wash clothes atthe last minute , and deal with greiving relatives , or people that dont undertand i am disabled so cant wonder around random train stations I have never been to , that sucks. . ( I have the nerve endings of an 80 years old man. )

So I am not greiving right now, but wish it was easier to be a better son. i wish I didnt have to fight my body to do things people take for granted.

—-But that is the story of what i come here to have fun,

Even though we didnt always get along, I really did understood many of her late life struggles. She was diabetic and eventually got nerve damage.( Which i have had for 10 years neuropathy, not diabetes . )

It was hard knowing she was going to get a lot worse, and it was frustrating for me that I could have helped her if she let me . ( I know a LOT about neuropathy and could have helped slow her decline )

I think mentally that caused me to distance myself a little, because it was painful just remember my own situation when it was acute.

        • SofiaT

You can’t save people from themselves.

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I’m sorry for your loss, Adam. I hope all the difficulties you’re going through now improve for you. 🙂

    • Valja

I’m sorry for your loss, Adam.
If it was in my native language, I’d have tried my best to give you a little help/support…
I know in these circumstances the more help you receive, the more strenght you acquire to do what you must. Sadly, while whenever there’s a particular event, mainly a sad one, I tend to be very empathetic towards people (to the point I’ve been told I could perfectly understand what the people involved were feeling, even though I’ve never experienced the same event firsthand), I’ve already ascertained my inability to convey the same message in english, as I lack the knowledge of the right suited words. Today I’ll be out until late night and don’t know at what time I’ll be able to get home, but If you still wish a (maybe useless, but I’d love to help) little support from me, then (or tomorrow) I could write you anyway 🙂

      • Adam Black

        Thanks for the offer.

You did comprehend WHY i asked.

If I was less-isolated from events in the past 9 months, it would have come more easily.

        • Valja

Well… given that your isolation definitely wasn’t mainly your fault (when something like this happens, everyone feels a little guilty in his/her own part, that’s inevitable, but from what you’ve written in your posts I’ve understood you’ve done what you could, and that’s not easy when other people cut you out) you shouldn’t be too hard on yourself.
And the effort you’re putting in what you’re doing now, goins as far as asking the help of trusted others to gain more strenght and to be sure you’re doing a good job, easily make up for whatever “absence” or “default” (not sure about these words, but I hope you get the meaning) you could have shown in these past 9 months. At least, that’s what I think 🙂

    • Platos_Redhaired_Stepchild

Well, the best I can come up with would be the traditional ‘term paper outline approach’.

      I. Brassy Step-mom was beloved by family and friends and community
      a. family anecdote
      b. friend anecdote
      c. co-worker or client anecdote

II. Brassy Step-mom will be greatly missed
      a. reference surviving family members
      b. reference close friends
      c. reference community work

      sorry

      • Adam Black

I was leaving that for others to say. I asked people here because I was soliciting fan fiction.

Now its a wholly new Chapter, and I am unprepared to write a single thing —despite planning for it for decades. Perhaps you can think of something.

Despite other characters best efforts, to ignore, erase, forget and discount, a minor character in the story , “Adam” keeps disrupting the plotlines and pacing and story.

He is ( or so we have been explicitly told ) a Ne-er-do-well, that barely has the physical and mental energy to react to life to keep it from imploding, yet consistently fails to keep his own plotlines going, or even satisfyingly carry out his designated role of “spoiler”. We cant just write him out, either, because on a good day he went and bought the adaptation rights.

Time to back to Writers Block,

    • My condolences.

      • Adam Black

        Thanks

  • Jac
    • This is great. Thank you for sharing.

    • Adam Black

      ha

      • Steven K.

I hope things worked out ok with your project – I’m sorry I couldn’t have been more help – I kinda hit a wall myself in timing – I probably could have done something closer to what you were looking for if there was more of a “heads up”, but I think you did brilliantly considering your time and other limitations.

        • Adam Black

          dont worry about it
          time to move on

  • Pashakitty

    Oh… poor Kyle.

  • davefragments

The question is, WHO GETS THE NEXT MOVE…
Sorry for yelling in all caps.

Will we see Kyle explode in rage and anger?
Can Kyle burn his way to victory. Like that’s hot Dude!
Will Duncan open the gateway to Earth?
    Will Duncan destroy the key?
Will Laampros grab, touch, feel, (uh, let’s stay civil), “enjoy” Kyle in his present state of undress? (be nice, kiddies might read this)
Will George the Eyeball become the second moon above Earth?
Will I eat breakfast after lunch? (chances are nearly 80%)
Will Duncan survive to the end of the chapter?
Will Laampros carve his initials across Kyle’s abs and chest and make him his own boy toy ALA fifty shades of red hot fire?

added: this is a little like Harry Potter and Ron Weasley visiting the Spider Aragog in book #2. Hagrid was not prey but Harry and Ron were…

I found this one to be even more of a hellish-hoot:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgDZ9LhZ2_g

      • Too too too hysterical… I looked just like that once during math homework… I even think I turned into a T-Rex and said exactly that, “ALGEBRA CAN SUCK MY BALLLLLS!”

Great SK… you Professors understand that homework is truly EVIL from the ultimate nether regions of HELL. XD

        Thanks.

        • I was in full agreement with that assessment. Evil math.

      • WarGoddess

OH MAH SWEET LAWDY JAYSUS IN A HANDBASKET (OoO)

        • Steven K.

          Love your bible-thumper dialect there.

      • LMFAO!!!!!!!

        Damn, that’s funny!!

      • Yes, sir, math is evil. I agree whole heartedly.

    • WarGoddess

I do think that my brain has exploded due to restraining my uncontrollable laughter that resulted from watching this video. People are sleeping, you see. XD

  • Amanda

Am I the only one that is imagining Duncan sounding like Paul Reuben s death scene in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”.

    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WT2syd-_HVU&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DWT2syd-_HVU

  • Going out on a limb and speaking my rambling thoughts. Is there any connection to Kyle’s fire power and Laampros’ hell/alternative world of fire? FIre, after all, does seem to have evil connotations. Could Kyle be a hybrid, so to speak? Could he be a mix of good and evil? Would that explain his attraction to Duncan? I hope I don’t incur anyone’s wrath by suggesting that Kyle may not be as angelic as we thought.

The blood was a bit much for me, but it was completely appropriate for the story. I’m so intrigued as to what Laampros’ mark will do to Duncan. Serves him right, that jackass! The happily ever after girl in me still wants them together, though. I may need a mental evaluation.

I have no idea how this is going to play out. These are just the odd questions that float around inside my head.

    • Jamie Dutton

I don’t think you’ll incur any wrath. There have been all kinds of theories concerning our young Kyle, from angelic to incubus and or hybrid demonic parentage. Heck someone mentioned he might even be a Jinn or something. Only Alex knows for now and he ain’t talking, lol.

      • LOL. Thank God it’s not just me.

      • Saxon_Brenton

I really must get out a world mythology text or two and try to find some more fire based critters from other than Western mythology and theology, just to pad out the Wild Mass Guessings… [says he, mischievously]

    • Actually that’s quite interesting, the notion that Kyle could be a mixture of good/evil and his subsequent attraction to Duncan.

  • Sapfo

For some reason I am waiting for Laampros to start singing. Is that not how demons makes deals? And Duncan have already been on fire once now, so… Jupp, Laampros better start singing and dancing soon.

      Lol, good one Sapfo!

    • Feverfew_M

      Ive got a theory… 😀

      • Sapfo

As long as there are no bunnies in this comic, we do not need be afraid. *D

    • Is it a good or a bad thing that I knew exactly what that link would lead to even before I clicked it? .. I’ve had the thought myself 😉

      • Feverfew_M

        Good thing, definitely! 🙂

      • Sapfo

Given that we are the same age (yes, you are my elder by 31 days) and grew up in similar society, with mostly the same pop-culture references. Not so strange.
And to answer your question: It´s a good thing! xD

        • Yes.. we grew up with Buffy, didn’t we (we had some of the best series in our (late) teen years) – the time supernatural series really started to get popular.
I miss Spike. The series hasn’t been on tv here for about 5-6 years.
I had the whole series recorded but that was on VHS. I really have to get around to buy the DVD boxes some day.

          • Sapfo

You do not have the DVDs? But comments from Joss and all the others. You have missed something. Those comments are some of the best I have heard.

My friends and I are having a “Much Ado About Nothing”-film evening on Friday. I´m really looking forward to it. xD

that looks funny, I wish i had sound

  • Elizabeth

This is going to be a very long twenty-four hours.

    • Yes, yes it is!

      • WarGoddess

Hey, AJ, I finally finished and uploaded Noble Karre! Sorry it took so long for me to complete him, I’m so picky when it comes to drawing men. 😀

        • Yay! I’ll go look now. And really, it’s okay. There was no rush. So YAY!

        • Drawings? Where?

  • Thomas David Hamilton

woke up thinking it was wednesday, then looked at the calendar and i whimpered…….

    • I so did that too. Damn. It must a YP virus going around.
      – Sympathy.

    • Tina

But fear not! the new page should be up in like 14 hours or so!!

  • *Uncle Sam (or the patriotic icon of your home world) points at you*
“Have YOU voted for your favorite (Young Protectors) today?”

    Best,
    CD

    • Sapfo

But, but, what if patriotism is coincided evil in my part of the world?!
      Can I vote anyway? o.O

      • Ummmm… errrr….. YES!!! XD

Edit: I just wrote that because I think, Vex, put up a very funny picture of Uncle Sam asking if “you’d voted”. But I see the issue. XD

        • Sapfo

Well, I will not join the army, but I will vote 😉

      • Jakk Anthony Guzman

There is a difference between patriotism and nationalism. One is good — patriotism, which is just pride in ones country. And one is bad — nationalism, which is the belief that ones country is better or superior to others.

        • Sapfo

Not where I am from. Patriotism and nationalism are considers the same thing. Nazis have taken over all the patriotic icon in my country. It is kind of sad.
I think it depends on the differences in our cultures.

          • Understood. Then maybe… you’ll just feel like supporting the comic and we’ll pretend you’re from Antarctica and we won’t tell anyone. Okay? 🙂

          • Sapfo

            Already did this morning ^_^

(and oh no, I am not from Antarctica, I am from the best country in the world….my culture is screwed in a weird way, for now according to the rules of my country I have to apologies for saying my country is the best XD )

          • Awwww Sapfo… if your country produced you then they must be right at top of the ‘best’ list. Have a great day! (We’ll both try not to count the hours until that new page comes up. LOL)

            Best,
            ChrisD

            (but I think I still owe you for this one… HA… http://www.masque-of-the-red-death.com/)

          • Sapfo

My day have been great, my master thesis was approved today. So I am celebrating tonight! I just hope Alex don´t post the new page to early in the morning 😉

Thank you Chris! And I hope your day is good to you.

(I did tell you it was a tragedy….but I do like her art)

        • SofiaT

In Greece the two are one and the same -especially at the moment, when the humiliation of the financial crisis has made people a lot more defensive about the country and the nation.

I refuse to hate the Turks, Bulgarians, Albanians etc, and I often say we’re all very alike since our modern societies were born at the same time period in the melting pot that was the Ottoman Empire (that’s the ultimate insult for the average modern Greek). I also highly doubt the “purity” of our blood.

So apparently that makes me very unpatriotic. :0/

          • Sapfo

Don´t bite your nails Sofia. Bad habit 😉

And I could go all zen on you and say that: “the page will come, when it ready to come.” But I am also impatient. ^_^

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I understand Sofia, having pride in one’s culture/country is a healthy thing and not bad. But when you have nationalist groups wrapping themselves in the national flag and using patriotic symbols for their own nationalistic purposes, then they give patriotism a bad name. And the two can appear to be one and the same. They are the ones being unpatriotic because instead of working with others to help their society, they are actually harming it. 😐

          • I said below I was bad at math… I wasn’t even joking… 9.5 hours??? *bites nails also*

          • SofiaT

It’s Wed/day 9am where I am and it usually updates sometime between 2-5pm… Sooooo (*counts fingers*) …5 to 8 hours?

          • Saxon_Brenton

Uhm. While summer daylight saving started here in Australia a while ago, my understanding is that the United States only just came off its summer daylight saving in the last few days, over the first November weekend. This may complicate when we get our YP fix, SophiaT.

          • SofiaT

Crap. I’d forgotten about that. So we’re getting it later then? *sigh*

          • It may seem like it. It’s just a few minutes after 5 here in California

          • Adam Black
  • Valja

Of this I’m sure. Kyle is having much more self-control than what I would in his same situation. And since I’ve a bad habit of victimizing myself a lot, crying over myself and panic, my mind would be filled by the sad thought “Duncan USED me for this and I fell into his trap like a noob, oh great” and I couldn’t think of a rapid solution to stop the enemy.

    Phase 1- shock : “*speechless* I… wha…”
This phase lasts at least 15-20 minutes. (yeah, I’m not that good at grasping the situation)
Phase 2 – desperate rage: “.. That…that bastard!! *frustrated tears* And I trusted him!! I slept with him! And I was a damn virgin!!” (yeah, it’s an aggravating factor, but it’s not that being a jerk to a non-virgin is less grave)
Phase 3 – refusal: “No, no no no, this CAN’T be happening, come on, Spooky please wake me up, I’m sure the hot I feel is due to the Commander turning up the heat to see us boys half naked, I CAN’T be in Hell, come on ”
Phase 4 – the hero: “Ok Anni, you fuc*ed me, now I’m gonna mess up with your plans, and I don’t care about this big giant red speaking lamp beside yo- OHMYGOD that’s a flying eyeball!!!”
Phase 5 – the not-so-cold shower: ” *half hopeless, partially humiliated and kind of wanting to sink into the (flaming) ground* Oh god… and why do I get the feeling this is also my fault?? How can I face the others now? Maybe I should just bury myself here. Maybe Laampros needs a jack of all trades here in Hell. Mmmmmh the weather’s not so bad, at least I wouldn’t need the duvet” (not that I suffer from really cold weather where I live, but usually my blankets don’t end up very well as I tend to kick a lot in my sleep)

Yes, I definitely wouldn’t be fit to be a hero.

    • Steven K.

Still hoping the Commander has no interest in seeing the boys half-naked – If she were Lesbionic, at least she’d be one confidante Kyle would have with which to discuss aspects of his sexuality. Still looking forward to the launch of the “Platinum Commander”.

      • Valja

Wow, I hadn’t thought of the possibility of her being lesbian… But yeah, I really like your scenario! You now have a follower in this hope! 🙂

  • *tears into the room with his hair sticking up looking rather like Christopher Lloyd in back to the future and yells…*

“GOOD LORD MAN! HOW MANY HOURS LEFT ‘TIL THE NEW PAGE? ARE ALEX’S OVENS FULLY PRE-HEATED? AUUUUGHHHH!”

*chris runs out the opposite door, while other members look at each other mildly puzzled*

    • *Holds out muffin* Here, this should help. But I would give it about another 4 hours.

      • Sapfo

“NOOOooo! You should not feed the Chris after midnight!!!” (my timezone)

        • He should be okay, it’s only 5:30pm here.

          • Admiral Jane, Sapfo, Chris Dangerfield……I love you guys

          • Sapfo

Thank You! We are just having fun.

          • ^_^

          • 😀

          • Adam Black

            ( POUTS )

            goes away to give self-love

          • awwww Sorry! *hugs Adam* I love you too

          • Adam Black

            all is forgiven.
Here, have one of Hollys Muffins.

          • Yay! *nibbles on Holly’s muffin*

          • Adam Black

trust me. you dont want it

        • Adam Black

You can feed him—- but only a strict diet of liquid protein and catalyzing sugars.

          • Just not catalytic converters. Ok?

            So 4 hours – the 39 minutes ago = ???

Wait we’re using the wrong calendar!!! The Discordian year 1 YOLD is 1166 BC. In the Principia Discordia, it is mentioned that the Curse of Greyface occurred in 1166 BC, so this is presumably the start-date of the calendar. As a reference, 2013 AD is 3179 YOLD (Year of Our Lady of Discord). While the abbreviation “YOLD” isn’t used in the Principia, and the phrase “Year of Our Lady of Discord” is only mentioned once, it is a Discordian tradition to use that designation.

            So this means 3.5 HOURS!!!!!

*runs from room laughing maniacally again to look for catalyzing sugars… figures Adam hasn’t been wrong in the last 17 minutes, so it should be okay.*

          • Sapfo

Chris, if you start to feel evil, Don´t jump in the pool!

          • Adam Black

quick @stevenklimecky:disqus offer Chris an anatomy lesson in sweet catalyzing sugars , hes running near empty

  • Sapfo

Something is really wrong with my Disqus right now… Do all of you have a Edit under all the comments, not just your own?

    • Yes, but yours seems to be okay now. I only see reply under it.

      • Sapfo

        Same with yours.

But somehow I feel like Lokie and I just want to mess with things… My fingers are moving…..OH NO! All this power and I only want too use it for evil!!!

        • Hit refresh and see if it changes back to edit under everything.

But I know what you mean… so much power. Mwahahahaha…

          • Hmm. I see it too…

          • It seems when a fresh comment comes up, it looks normal, but when the page is refreshed the edit returns.

Maybe I shouldn’t have given Chris that muffin.

          • I have a ticket in to Disqus. We’ll see what they do. Glad to hear it’s non-functional at least.

          • Sapfo

Yes, I guess we should be glad for that.

(But I could not forget about all the possibilities that could have given me. I guess I’m a wolf in sheep’s clothing)

          • Does that count as cos-play?

          • Sapfo
          • Adam Black

            with sheep, sure

          • I’m not kidding and I really did try the edit button (I couldn’t help it). But I was only a very little bit evil… and no one got transported to hell. True fact. XD

          • Adam Black

Of course we believe you are not innocent

          • Yup, non-functional. Are they usually quick about such things?

          • Not usually. But if it’s affecting me, I imagine it’s affecting a lot of sites. They’ll figure it out. 🙂

          • I was one of the first to try the inoperable EDIT button. It was a simple EDIT to one of the Admiral’s posts… as follows…

EDIT: ChrisD is the handsomest, smartest, funniest, wittiest, coolest, nicest, person in the entire multiverse and he’s a good person who likes muffins so I’m sending him some right now.

I would have fooled you all with my clever ways….

            MWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH…

            darn

          • Adam Black

Actually that really **did** work .

Now try and enjoy that muffin

            MWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH…

          • Hopefully they fix it soon, it’s a little confusing I keep hitting the edit button instead of reply.

          • Sapfo

            Same here!

          • Try a refresh, it seems to have resolved.

          • Sapfo

The illusion of power is gone. NO!

          • Adam Black
          • Sapfo

            Thank you Adam! ^_^

          • Adam Black

            frossa i din makt illusion

          • Adam Black

The writer can ***edit** my comments?
            (**BRILLIANT** )

That means you can add subtle word of god hints to them, that no one will believe ( but me )

This is almost as fun as waiting for a new comic!
            Please surprise me!

          • Wow. All this while, I thought you had a whole room full of comedy writers running up your posts… you mean this stuff is original? Dang you’re good. 🙂

          • Adam Black

For one **brief minute** that dream almost came true.

I accept your compliment, despite that you ought to know they are really just moth-eaten , moldy, secondhand jokes, scrounged out of other peoples basements, then abaonded on empty lots that I have secreted away to freecycle to the unspectecting.

          • And if any of Adam’s jokes leave you with an erection lasting more than four hours send him a great deal of money and ask for more….

          • Adam Black

Quick , somebody Hide Fozzy Bear

          • Steven K.

Hmmm…now you’ve convinced me I should pay more attention – hadn’t noticed that effect before, but I’m willing to explore/investigate and take my chances with that.

          • Adam Black

In your case, find the nearest college gym shower, Im sure something interesting will happen

          • Sapfo

            Nope, it did not help!

          • So the edit is still there for everyone?

          • Sapfo

And it did also appear under the one that did not have a Edit before.

          • You were right. I shouldn’t have given Chris that muffin.

            It’s so weird.

          • *chris notices the teasingly mentioned edit button is now gone and curses the quick fingered Alex for fixing Disqus before he could go mad with power and alter all note to fit his inner desires.*

            “Mwwwaaaaaahahahahahahahahahaha…”

*probably a good thing and he should have taken that muffin.*

          • It’s a good thing it was a bran muffin.

          • Adam Black

            I am begging you.

If all my comments are not filled swedish limericks, I …I will just go back to bed.

          • Adam Black

            Unfortunately NOT.

            Life is unfair

          • If you refresh the page the edits return. 😐

          • Adam Black

            I NEVER had it

          • I have a feeling that’s a good thing. 😛

          • I had it!!!!!!!!!! I LOST IT!!!!!!! ARRRRRRG.

          • Which is a VERY good thing. XD

          • SofiaT

            Haha!

          • Adam Black

well that is entirely a subjective opinion.

Arguably it would have been **great** for me.

( Besides knowing there was some *ahem* oversight @266f9eb1f5f35710d38a3a8814cd037c:disqus would have provided me with temperance.

NOW you are never going to learn If @chrisdangerfield:disqus really has a muppet fetish .

( OK, Mine is Animal )

Or what the names are of your **SECRET** coffee blends.

The REAL FUN, could have been what I edited my **OWN Comments*** to say, since I gave everyone else permission to wikitize them

          • HEY! MUPPETS! Who blabbed?

          • Sapfo

            I´m only for Puppet Angel!

          • Adam Black

Everyone is for the Muppet Angel.
            Those felt fangs are adorable

          • Mawhahaha

          • Adam Black

I shall not say a word
( Hint: Rhymes with Zonzo )

          • Great…

          • Actually Chris likes Sweetums best.

And I was going to give you unicorns and puppies and glitter EVERYWHERE!

          • Adam Black

            thats terrible.

Do you know hard it is to clean up glitter in Unicorn and puppy crap ?

You may as well just burn down the place

          • Hey does that make me an evil genius?

I suppose I could have said Rainbows and hipster kittens wearing mittens.

          • Adam Black

How do Hipster Kittens know they are being ironic?

          • That’s a good question. But why else would they be wearing mittens?

          • Adam Black
          • That’s what they want you to think

          • Adam Black

            well I am fooled

          • Steven K.

Why are you trying to clean or extract the glitter from the Unicorn and puppy crap? – Just scoop and toss the whole “deposit” away.

          • Adam Black

Bows to Steve’s superior knowledge of Glitter harvesting.

            ( raises eyebrow )

Ja nog är det svårt när droppar faller.
Skälvande av ängslan tungt de hänger,
klamrar sig vid kvisten, sväller, glider –
tyngden drar dem neråt, hur de klänger.

          • What are you trying to tell me. Because that’s dirty

          • Adam Black

Endast Sapho kan avslöja att mysteriet.
            Jag är bara budbärare

          • I see.

          • Sapfo

To be honest, I don´t really know if it´s dirty or not. It´s very strange thou o.O

          • HA! Reading through Google translate it seemed like it could be.

          • Sapfo

There are some thing in it, yes. But most its just strange 😉

          • Gotcha. 🙂 I was also suspicious because it was Mr. Black posting it. O.O

          • Steven K.

Some kind of wild coincidence here that half the regulars know Swedish? How does that happen?

          • Adam Black

Du böjer över och låt den svenska Trickster Gud, shove hans roliga linjer djupt inne i dina kommentarer tills du spricker med Scandia wit

          • Sapfo

If they know Swedish might be a bit exaggerated. But I´m having fun reading it.

          • Disqus is messing with us. I just tried to EDIT AJ’s post and use my powers for EVIL… it let me type into the edit box and then when I posted… it refused me!!!!

            ME I TELL YOU!

Evil vixen they name is Disqus.

          • Sapfo

Maybe it is for the best! Even if I do trust the people here, there are people out there how would really do bad thing with that opportunity

          • Oh surely NOT. We are angels one and all and would NEVER do the wrong or naughty thing with such an excess of power.

            Surely. (heh heh heh)

          • Sapfo

Chris, did you eat anything else then liquid protein and catalyzing sugars after midnight?

          • It’s hours until midnight … I’ve got loads of time to load up on bad edibles. Yayyyyyyy…. 😀

*people begin to watch chris’ posts degenerate further than usual*

          • Sapfo

And I always thought it was due to fatigue, not evileness of food. o.O

          • Ouch. (LOL) But not wrong…

          • SofiaT

[Uncle Ben’s voice talking to Spiderman-Chris] “Son, with great power comes great responsibility”

            Sorry, couldn’t help myself. 😛

          • Hey… be fair… who could? Ahhhh Uncle Ben. XD

          • Sapfo

            ;_; “NOOOOO!”

          • Adam Black

Its a terrible. terrible , burden being the comic character not allowed to resurrect more times than a Time Lord starring in a ‘Jesus, Christ, Superstar’ production.

I dont know how Uncle Ben does it. Real Death must be his superpower.

          • I thought math was evil?

          • True, but it’s a little known fact that Disqus invented math.

          • Dammit!

          • Very!

          • I just tried putting you in a tutu, but alas, it again failed.

          • Adam Black

            you werent the first

          • I can’t unsee that.

          • Adam Black

well, thank-you for reminding me of a trauma I thought I permanently repressed.

          • Um… Have a muffin?

          • Adam Black

            sure.

          • Muffins fix everything, though not as much as cupcakes.

          • Adam Black
          • Holly

I can SEE edit on Adam and others but they do not show up

          • Adam Black

            try anyway. I would

          • Holly

            naw. doesn’t work.

          • I know. Isn’t that just SO wrong. I keep trying like it might suddenly change, but NOOOOEEEEE.

          • Adam Black

            you must be SOOO frustrated.

where has a muppett gone to?

        • Adam Black

          USE IT ON ME!

          GO FOR IT,

make me a prince of swedish filth

        • SofiaT

Someone before (was it you?) said “I got the power!” and I really wanted to make a Bruce Almighty joke, but it seems to be gone now. *sigh*

          • A He-Man joke would have worked to.

          • Yes, but not a “WONDER TWINS POWERS ACTIVATE.” That almost NEVER works. Darn.

          • Especially when one takes the form of water.

          • SofiaT

Considering this is a web comic, a He-Man joke would have been more appropriate too (I did make a Spiderman joke somewhere below).

          • A very nice one… with Uncle Ben… one you all could heed!!!! LOL.

          • SofiaT

Yeah, I wish I could take the praise for that one but it’s all Stan Lee I’m afraid.

          • Well in spite of all that talent, Stan Lee is a bit crazy and fear is not an unreasonable response. 😀

          • I’d up-vote you again just for referencing BRUCE ALMIGHTY.

          • Steven K.

There’s that scene where he’s doin’ his thing all shirtless and showing off some REALLY hot, sexy, dark, furry armpits! Sometimes I’ve found him kind of attractive, but often not so much – but that was an example of the former feeling.

          • Adam Black

            you mean every homoerotic episode?

    • Adam Black

Please add some swedish poetry underneath some of my comments,

The Trckster God demands no less from you

      • Sapfo

Apparently it did not work. The Edit is there, but I can do nothing!!! This is so sad. I thought I had the power, but it do not work.

        Here is the poetry:

Ja visst gör det ont när knoppar brister.
        Varför skulle annars våren tveka?
Varför skulle all vår heta längtan

        • Adam Black

“Apparently it did not work. The Edit is there, but I can do nothing!!!
This is so sad. I thought I had the power, but it do not work.”

Now you completely understand the feeling of how it feels to be a man ( albeit one older, tired or who drank too much ) pre Viagra

          • Sapfo

            TGI Female!

          • Holly

            AWW THANKS SAPFO ^_^

          • Sapfo

            The Holly is here ^_^

          • Holly

My edit did not show up. 🙁

          • Adam Black

And I invited everyone to EDIT me, too 🙁

          • Adam Black

I heard rumors there were a few downsides, but now i know that it was pure propaganda.

          • Sapfo

            The benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

          • Adam Black

That is arguably true some of the time, and the extra ten years you are alive.

          • Sapfo

Oh, I was just thinking of the multiplying orgasms…. But ten years is not a bad thing.

          • Adam Black

            Go ahead… rub it in

          • Sapfo

Well I don´t really want to do it here 😉

          • Holly

            *dies laughing*

          • Adam Black

            **in shock**

            You mean can see me?

          • please

          • Steven K.

            Or just rub it.

          • Adam Black

            ( takes Steven K. aside

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_entendre )

            The double is left alone…

But any triple , quadruple, to infinity, implications are there to be riffed off of ,

            let me show you

          • So the EDIT button works if you take viagra?

          • Sapfo

Or the Edit only works if your a virgin? (Damn it!)

          • Well either way… I’m out of luck. 🙂

          • Sapfo

Well Chris, in this chase it might not be a bad thing. Considering all the bad thing you wanted to do.

          • Adam Black

            Oh Please,
( as you roll over the naked man next to you, and create new “Luck” )

            My heart JUST bleeds.
If only you had a ‘real’ rabbits foot to rub

          • Gee, but he won’t edit anything for us either… golly… what are you saying?

          • Adam Black

            well chris,

sometimes when there are 2 men that like each other as lucky friends, … and one of them needs to get a little lucky…

          • Chockerande! Helt enkelt chockerande!

          • Adam Black
          • Adam Black

I have no idea how that process may work.

I shall defer that expertise to the more ( or less , in this case ) experienced.

          • Holly

            no…i doesn’t work for me.

          • What are you telling us Holly?

          • Holly

Nothing you don’t all already know.

          • That you haven’t tried viagra?

          • Holly

Lady type people can’t take the little blue pill, Chris. Also ANSWER MY SUMMONS!

          • I did but you haven’t looked at your original summons…. 😛

          • Adam Black

MM, I heard it helps a little

          • Adam Black

That entirely depends on WHAT ( or **WHO** ) you are editing.

            Editing is obviously HARD work

          • And yet sometimes it just falls flat

          • Adam Black

Everyone is a critic: but few are willing to do the hard, and repetitive actions to bring a work to a satisfying finish.

          • True, they just rely on electrical appliances to do the messy work.

          • Adam Black

There are funny inferences from that joke, you may not have realized.

            LOL

          • And it’s possible I may have. 😀

          • Yep… I believe the lady.

          • 😀

          • Adam Black

            The Electric Light Orchestra

            shines upon the page equally.

yet some use more amperage then others

          • Adam Black

            Not me.

            ( and I doubt it )

          • There are several inferences. Pick one.

          • Adam Black

Ask @stevenklimecky:disqus I never get near electricity unless I am first in a half inch latex body suit

          • Ah yes, there is that one, isn’t there.

          • Preach brother. There a muscles involved used for almost no other activities.

          • Adam Black
          • You are a one-man public service. No… really… you are!

          • Adam Black

            I always say so

        • Adam Black

Yes of course it hurts when buds burst.
          Otherwise why would spring hesitate?
Why would all our ardent longing
bound in the frozen bitter haze?
Bud was the casing all winter.
What is this new thing, which consumes and bursts?
Yes of course it hurts when buds burst,
          hurts for that which grows
          and that closes.

Yes, it is hard when drops fall.
Trembling with fear they hang heavy,
clinging to the branch, swell and slide –
weight pulls them down, how they cling.
Hard to be uncertain, afraid and divided,
hard to feel the depths attract and call,
still sit there and just quiver –
          hard to want to stay
          and want to fall.

Then, when things are worst and nothing helps
          Deficiencies in jubilation tree buds.
Then, when fear no longer exists,
          down in glitter limb drops
forget that they were frightened by the new
forget that they were fearful of the journey –
feel for a second their greatest security,
          rests in the trust
          that creates the world.

          • Sapfo

It does not look like a simple Google translation.
            A+ Adam!

Sorry for it not being so dirty and filthy as you wantede it to be. But it was the only thing I could think of 😉

      • You have tempted me greatly sir to mess with your comment.

        • Adam Black

          I meant ALL of them.

It isnt **really** a compliment if offer myself up as the sacrificial lamb and no one wants to shag it.

          • Well I tried. It didn’t take.

          • Seeeeeee… isn’t it hateful. It’s like the Apple in Eden on a silver tray and you can’t pick it up because it’s super glued down.

            Evil Disqus

          • Maybe it had a worm in the apple.

          • Adam Black

Ja visst gör det ont när knoppar brister,
            ont för det som växer
            och det som stänger.

          • HA! And I need now laugh at myself.

          • Well that puts things in a different perspective. I should rewatch dune.

          • NOOOOOO… don’t do it. Your memory may be bad, but no one… and I mean NO ONE should ever watch THAT movie more than once. Read the book. I promise you’ll be happier. 🙂

          • But there are so many and they’re soo long. Is there, you know, sex?

And which movie? The one with Sting or the other one that’s 5 hours

          • Adam Black

Someone has some readin to do:

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honored_Matres

          • Probably.

          • Adam Black

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bene_Gesserit#Sexual_talents

“Murbella and Duncan basically imprint each other, neither having complete control over the other.”

Screw each others brains out to advance the plot

          • Yes, I see. Fascinating.

            Adding to wish list

          • Oh but there is so much more perversity to discover among the pages………….

          • HA!

          • Adam Black

why do you think its called “Heretics of Dune”

          • Yeahhhhhhh…. 😀

          • Any wiki reference with the words “sexual domination” in it is worth your time….

          • Adam Black

“Men seduced by an imprinter are permanently affected (imprinted) by the
intense sexual experience and are thereafter consciously or
            subconsciously favorable to the Sisterhood.”

          • Adam Black

            There are 2 now

          • You’ll kindly notice Adam makes no moral judgement on such an action…

          • Adam Black

No crysknives in the second, they both have flaws

          • I know you can’t demand everything… it’s hard to keep continuity with all that going on.

          • Adam Black

CMON, NO Crysknives in Dune is like NO lightsabers in Starwars

          • Steven K.

Well, that original Dune movie – SO many mixed emotions about that. Some aspects are amazing and awesome, others are horrible. Watching the evil Baron Harkonnen brutally kill that poor beautiful lad after molesting/abusing him – that turned my stomach and that part is practically unbearable to watch for me. I think other aspects are pretty amazing and epic. And GOD(!!!!!) but Kyle McGlaughlin in that film had to be one of the all-time most beautiful people on the planet at that time I thought. It was very difficult and frustrating for me to watch him getting it on with his betrothed. (That’s the other part I have to skip – just one more example of watching someone else getting to be with a guy of my dreams). But I do think you are right about the original source. I always thought that the Guild Steersmen and their abilities to “fold space” (with the help of and under the influence of the melange spice) and thus facilitate galactic travel and all that to be quite fascinating.

          • Adam Black

I like the first 3 prequals, but I amy be alone in that

          • Nope the film DUNE was the most disgusting and blatant anti-gay propaganda that I’d ever seen or ever hope to see. Vile media had a new definition for me with the character of the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen as played by actor Kenneth McMillan. That film will be shown to David Lynch in a special hell (seemingly) forever, on a repeat loop. Hopefully soon too (he’s 67…) and I also hope they save his tears in a special crystal decanter just for me to enjoy the sweet sweet wine of his never ending sorrow, which will only last until the last 35 mm print of his abomination of a film lasts… As it degrades beyond restoration, Lynch’s spirit, redeemed, will ascend and begin a new life as junior production assistant on a film in the far far distant future… oh and he’ll be GAY!

            What? To much?

Just fanfic of a special kind.

          • Adam Black

You obviously havent read the prequel where the Baron is physically a ginger god Harkonnen Caligula

            Baron is gay. Its cannon.

          • Steven K.

Well, I do rather agree with you about that one aspect. It certainly puts a rather strong taint on the rest. The first time I saw the scene I mentioned above I could hardly watch the rest – I almost got up and walked out. Although, to tell you the truth, what I felt toward that character of Harkonnen and what he did to those lads – I have been feeling some of that toward Duncan and what he’s done and has been doing to Kyle.

          • Adam Black
          • Sapfo

Are not everyone gay in fanfic? o.O

          • Adam Black

            adams apple, too

          • Sapfo

I did try. But the sacrificial lamp did not want the Edit I did.

          • Steven K.

I though sacrificial lambs usually get their throats slit rather than get shagged. Oh well – if that’s what you do in your own personal sect, more power to ya, I guess. I suppose some would find that more enjoyable. Are the lambs still screaming?

          • Adam Black

            Its a New Zealand sacrifice

          • But I applaud both of you for open mindedness…

          • Adam Black

            baaaa

      • Oh Adam dig stor stark stilig man du jag vill…

        (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzt)

We’re sorry the above transmission has been interrupted by the gods of good taste and can not be concluded at this time. Please try your smut again later.

        • Sapfo

          Your Swedish is wonderful

(But maybe you should work on the grammar 😉 )

          • Thank you, M’lady… but bad grammar is my kryptonite! 🙂

          • Sapfo

I have a feeling your Swedish grammar is just like my English. A bit iffy at best 😉

          • Darn… he’s on to us…

          • Sapfo

Chris, are you feeling alright? o.O

          • Steven K.

Well, you guys are better than me – I thought it looked like Danish.

          • Sapfo

Danish and Swedish have their similarities. And considering Swedish is my first language, so it can be seen that I cheated.

          • Adam Black

but Danish has that sweet gooey center

          • Sapfo

            Swedish have meatballs…

          • Yes ma’am… oi… I never know. 😀

  • Holly

I AM HAVING AN EXISTENTIAL CRISIS REGARDING NUTELLA AND JOHN BARROWMAN!

Also, while I am camping tonight, I won’t stick around long after. As I have work in the afternoon.

    *THROWS SCREME EGGS AT EVERYONE*

    • *ducking* Did you get yourself a job, missy?

      • Holly

No you catch them with your mouth hole silly.

Um yes. And then I will wake up Christmas morning jobless.

        • Aww… But it’s something for now right?

Sorry, someone throws something at me and I duck. That’s why I could never play soccer.

          • Holly

THAT REMINDS ME OF THE STORY OF MY GYM TEACHER BREAKING MY NOSE!

          • Did he throw or kick something at you?

          • Holly

Yes. We were practicing juggling footballs (soccer balls) and he his me in a nose. I would have accepted it as an accident except…

          • He’s a gym teach and they’re evil right?

          • Holly

Um…no all my PE teachers were nice. This was actually another course that just has PE elements. Upon my nose breaking my eyes watered, as they is a reaction to be hit in the nose in such a manner. and he said:
“Wahn Wahn! is the baby going to cry?”

          • I think I would have been tempted to kick the ball in his face. And gotten suspended.

Well I did get suspended for walking off the field, refusing to play soccer, cause everyone had to play and the principal was a jackass and had a thick head which I told him he had a thick head and so said that was why I was being suspended, and not for walking off the field which was a lie.

            Oh sorry. Flash back

          • Holly

            You Got SUPSENDED?!

          • Which time? 6th grade was very DOWN WITH THE MAN! for me.

          • Holly

            *tsks*

          • 😛 What can I say, I had a momentary judgment lapse. And attended a rather stupid school.

          • Holly

Momentary gets you suspended a single time. How many times did it happen>!

          • I think twice. I said it was a stupid school

          • Wow… so Admiral J. was a BAD girl in school… like in “FASTER PUSSYCAT KILL KILL KILL?”

            Edit: Soooooo coool.

          • School sucked bad.

          • Sapfo

            I liked school. I liked play hooky …. <,,>

STAY IN SCHOOL KIDS! LEARN FROM OLD AUNT SAPFO! PLAYING HOOKY IS NO FUN!!!

          • I wish school was better in these here parts. At least I wish look had been better where I went.

          • I wish… there was almost no sucking when I was in school… humph.

          • I knew someone would make that reference.

I shall reword. I hated school.

          • Thank god that’s cleared up. The previous 679 posts discussing the fetid torturous time spent in an overpacked prison for psychotic monkeys gave us a tiny idea that school might not have been your favorite place….

or am I reading too much in to your statements? 😀

          • 😛

          • No dear lady… you have all my sympathy. I went to the same school (metaphorically). I’ve just blocked most of it out. 🙂

          • I had it blocked until the whole conversation of soccer and screme eggs being thrown.

          • Repeat after me: “What soccer and creme eggs?”

See how easy that is? *dusts off hands* Annnnd DONE!

          • What soccer and screme eggs.

            Oh hey. That worked. YAY!

          • Adam Black

            shouldve tried harder

          • Oh the assumptions in that first word… ummm… and the last one… too.

            Edit: and the middle one.

          • Adam Black

not an assumption in the last

          • Holly

The only time I knew where people had sex at camp was Church camp. And it was two very attractive boys in the shower. I was sad and happy at once

          • Steven K.

Makes me wish I had gone to that church camp.

          • You and me both. Gives communion a whole new meaning… 😀

          • Adam Black

puts a whole new spin on ‘Biblical Knowledge education’

          • Holly

Well my church is like super liberal.

          • A tad… may be time to convert. Oh, damn, I’m agnostic. So inconvenient sometimes.

          • Adam Black

does that mean counselors joined in?

          • Holly

No. That would have been illegal. The faciltators are all in the 20s or 40s. These guys were like 16.

          • Adam Black

            16?
depends on the state in the US.

          • Holly

In canada it’s more complex…But at that time the law was the three year rule. 14 years of age +3 years until you were 18. Now it’s 16, with 18 being the age of exploitation.

MEANING: At 16 you can legally consent to sex, but you can’t consent to pornographic images etc until you are 18.

          • Adam Black

“One time, when I was in ” Church “camp”…

          • HA

          • Adam Black

            whoa. How did you know?

          • Repeats Adam’s question to @disqus_5yYGRkSeuL:disqus

          • Holly

Well there was only one shower and the floor was coed…

          • Adam Black

            Please tell us more

          • Holly

The bathrooms each had two sinks, one shower, and one toilet. There were actually many on the floor, but it was a large building and this was the one closest to me. The events are why they started labeling the bathrooms Boys and Girls the following years. (Which was super annoying as I always got a room right next to the bathroom they deemed male. STUPID)

Anyway, I walked in to brush my teeth and two young men were in the shower having sex. The Details are vague in my mind as it was about a decade or so ago. They were both White and tall, I think one of them was cute.

          • Adam Black

How do you know they werent just jocks sharing a shower?

          • Holly

One there weren’t really any “jocks” at church camp. Two, Guy A was kind of buried to the base of his dick inbetween the cheeks of Guy B. Plus a friend told me they say Guy B blowing Guy A in the showers the next day. So yeah.

          • Adam Black

            Future priests, there

          • Steven K.

            None at all for me 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

          • And THIS is why I think everyone should go to University!!!!! I’m just a good person that way. 😀

          • Adam Black

Reminds me of the a gay friend ( Joe Phillips ) embittered that he was the only alter boy unmolested .

He was known to wax on about this while playing sad Karen Carpenter albums

          • *chris turns off Karen Carpenter and puts on Babs*

          • Adam Black

            NOOOOO

          • Steven K.

Gosh I can relate to that! (Though I play different sad albums.) I should find a fellow like that with whom to commiserate.

          • Adam Black

He turned into a mean drunk and died, so maybe thats a bad idea

          • Holly

Well twice isn’t so bad. YOU made is seems like much more

          • It seemed like it at the time.

          • Holly

            how long were these suspensions?!

          • One was two days and the other…you know, I don’t remember.

          • Holly

            BAD KID!

          • I don’t think it was that long. Maybe a day. This was almost 30 years ago. I was 12. One of the times I was suffering from a concussion. And it really was a stupid school.

          • Holly

You keep saying that. *gives AJ a lolly*

          • Because it bears repeating.

          • See it’s confusion… you don’t kick the ball in his face you kick his balls in… oh never mind…

          • Well my aim is so bad, you never know where it would have struck

          • Oh, in the right mood… I have faith you could have found the right spot. 😀

          • I one time was trying to throw a lemon over this jerkoff’s head, but I actually hit him in the back of the head. Such gloriousness by accident.

          • Now simply edit that so that you were in full command of the incident and you’ll be all powerful. Remember “memory” is life’s edit button. It’s awesome and reality is way over-rated. 🙂

          • But see I would then want to try it again and when I miss by a mile… 😐

          • Adam Black

I hope you live in his HOUSE now.

          • Holly

Naw no witnesses of the second part. Though I did talk to the principal and from then on the teacher was scared of me. I fell asleep in his class and he APOLOGIZED to me for that.

He should have lost his job though…

          • Adam Black

You dont need any witness to an insult.

            He broke your nose.

          • Steven K.

Reminds me of the time when my professor for mineralogy (5 days a week at 8 in the morning – basically an intensive class in crystal chemistry and physics) through a wooden and metal “ball-and-stick”-type crystal lattice model at me and it hit me right between the eyes on the bridge of my nose. I had my head down furiously taking notes and he was lecturing up front – I was NOT expecting a hard model to come flying at me. If it had been just an inch or two to one side or the other, I very well could have been talking to y’all now as a person with an eye-patch – it really did almost gouge out an eye – or it could have. It really stung too – and bruised the area between my eyes. And what did he say? I know if I had done that, and the student didn’t notice and I had hit the student in the face, I would have been mortified and apologizing profusely all over the place, etc., etc. But this total douchebag just makes some negative comment concerning my inability to catch – in front of the whole class, he just insults me after nearly blinding me in one eye – with no apology ever. If I had SEEN that thing coming toward me – if I knew he was going to be throwing it out to someone, I would have been on the lookout and maybe would have caught the damn thing. But it was almost more like he intended to throw it at an unsuspecting student so he could then shame me. And that wasn’t the only objectionable thing he did or said – he was very sexist and homophobic as well. I rather hated him. But, he ended up passing away from cancer at an early age (before he turned 50). Not that I would wish that awful fate on anyone, but it didn’t make me all that terribly sad.

          • Adam Black

and did leave you a surreptitious note implying an “A+” would stop a lawsuit?

          • Steven K.

I certainly felt like it – if I had actually been injured to a greater extent, believe me that would have more likely happened.

          • Steven K.

You got that right, sister! (Well, I guess I had a decent one or two, but on average I’d say rather high on the evilness scale.)

          • Adam Black

            SUE!

            Its the American WAy.

          • Well I suppose it’s an American name, but really…

          • Adam Black

Is it a comedy, tragedy, medical romance , or legal drama?

          • Holly

It was a tale of a 40 year old man breaking a 16 year old girl’s nose.

          • Sapfo

            In other words…. Bad Holly?

          • Holly

Yeah. It was pretty awful. Guy was a douchecanoe,

          • AND A COCKWEASEL!

          • Steven K.

            More like a Schnozwonkin.

          • Okay that’s a new one for me SK. What’s that?

          • Steven K.

Someone who wonks schozzes (or beats on schozolas – as Holly’s gym teacher). Maybe I should have called him a “SchnozwonkER”.

          • Adam Black

            schadenfreude?

Someones recovered from his comic trauma

          • Recovery takes the time it takes. Our hearts are with him.

          • Adam Black
          • Adam Black

            Did you sue EVERYONE?

          • You just want SOMEONE sued don’t you?

          • Adam Black

            ( looks around )

            maybe

        • Sapfo

But I don´t eat eggs. May I duck Holly, Please!

Job to Christmas, it´s at least something.

          • Holly

Screme Eggs are not eggs. They are egged shaped confections. They are a Halloween version of a VERY popular easter treat.

          • Sapfo

To sad, Me and sugar don´t mix well. -_-

          • Holly

THEN WHY DO YOU HAVE COOKIES?!

but honestly how and why is it bad for you?!

          • Sapfo

Totally addictive for me, and I can hardly wait for the next fix when I eat it.

(The cookies are for lure the unsuspected virgins and androids into my traps. But don´t tell anyone)

          • Holly

            I see

          • Sapfo

            Want a cookie? ^_^

          • Holly

*eats screme eggs and stares at the swede*

          • Sapfo

(The Holly seems to be suspicious. I wonder if she suspects something)

          • Holly

I have heard rumours that the cookies are drugged and that you will hand me off to @disqus_FidZAwLkzS:disqus so that YOU get the virgin and I don’t know what happens. Adam is a nice funny person and i’m not sure why he’s part of this scheme.

          • Sapfo

I WOULD NEVER DRUG COOKIES! “o”
They are just so that you get cookie crumbs on your fingers, so you can´t upload the new page so fast.

          • Holly

Why is it JUST when you talk about stopping me from posting my cat climbs all over my computer?! What did you do?!

          • Sapfo

Cats are on my side! MUahahaha!

          • Holly
          • Sapfo

Cat, cookies and cuteness! Thats my thing.

(and I must add. “ooooh thats so cute!”)

          • Holly

He is evil. He just uses cuddles to get his evil forward. Constantly laying on my arm!

          • Sapfo

He can´t be evil, he is cute. ^_^

          • Holly

You will fall prey to him as well then.

          • Sapfo

Given my severe allergy, I will probably stay away from him

          • Holly

Everyone has cat allergy. tis weird

          • Sapfo

Their protein is very irritating to the immune system.

          • Holly

I luckily have no animal allergies. as I am an android.

          • Sapfo

I wish I was an android.

No peanuts and cats trying to kill me.

          • Holly

yeah but androids have their own issues.

          • Sapfo

Oh no, don’t destroy my dream!

          • Holly

I dream of electric sheep. 😛

          • Sapfo

            I dream of killer chickens…. <..>

          • Holly

One does not need to dream to find those. Vile beasts!

          • Sapfo

But I only had that dream once.

          • Holly

what do you dream of normally?!

          • Sapfo

Long complicated dreams, much as I see things from different angles. I walk a lot.

And if its a nightmare I can not move.

          • Adam Black

One does not merely talk of Killer Chickens

          • Holly

My dad grew up on a farm. There is a nearly Headless nick type story of an evil rooster.

          • Adam Black

            cluck away…

          • Holly

Basically there was a really ornery rooster and my Grampie decided to put it down. So he put it on the wood block and tried to chop off it’s head. but it did not quite work. And the Rooster was still alive with his head just help on by an inch or so of flesh. So it flopped all over the place as he chased things and people around the yard. Eventually he died.

          • Adam Black

            For how long?

          • Holly

            I don’t know? I forgot.

          • Ok, just for the record, I put this in the Ichabod Crane of chicken story categories… just sayin’

          • Holly

            What does that mean?

          • Steven K.

I think I could have survived without hearing about that. I hope Adam enjoyed it.

          • Adam Black
          • Umm as opposed do what with them… and no rabbit feet jokes… killer chickens? Sounds scary AND kinky.

          • Sapfo

Just scary, no kinks at all. They where really scary. Could not go to sleep again after that.

          • Steven K.

            What about the killer-rabbits then?

          • Adam Black

            add the link

          • Steven K.

HA! Good one. Philip is smiling.

          • Is that android cos-play? Seems a theme tonight.

          • Holly

Chris, I AM an android. Didn’t anyone tell you?

          • Oh I knew THAT… I meant the part about you dressing up as a sheep… 😀

          • Holly

I never said I dress up as a sheep. I said I dream of sheep?! When did I ever dress as a sheep?!

          • Adam Black

            BAAA

          • Ohhhhhhhh…. never mind. 😀

          • Adam Black

            HA

          • Adam Black

I can NOT live up to that kind of expectation.

( covers @Holly disqus with nutella, hands her back to @admiraljane:disqus and @smsif:disqus )

          • Holly

            T_T

          • Adam Black

In case of emergency, break glass and inflate portable Captain jack

          • Holly

            Then what?!

          • Adam Black

does a time agent Kiss and tell?

          • Holly

            AH GOOD POINT!

          • *as @disqus_FidZAwLkzS:disqus sinks comfortably back into his hot tub filled with delicious Nutella… and smiles*

          • Adam Black

            I **should** go do that.

            why am I here again?

          • Hells yeah… that’s what I want to know!

          • Adam Black
          • Has Sapfo been teasing us all this time with cookie tales? *chris rocks back in shock*

          • Holly

Sapfo gives me cookies in a ploy to capture me!

          • Sapfo

Oh no Chris. The cookies are real, I just don´t eat them myself.

          • Steven K.

I know – I love those things – probably too much – but I like the caramel versions even better.

          • Holly

            Blasphemy!

          • In the android religion? Is SK going to android hell now. Wow… you guys are tuff!

          • Holly

I don’t think Androids of religion as a whole. Do we?! Oh man, if we do I am so screwed! I don’t even know what the Cyber Human Pantheon of Gods IS!

          • Joshua: Shall we play a game?

          • Steven K.

Is android hell run by electric demons?

          • Adam Black
    • Adam Black

Just eat them BOTH, and be done with it

      • Holly

*blinks* Barrowman and the nutella? or the Nutella and the screme eggs?!

        • Barrowman… are you mad android? What kind of question is that?

          • Holly

Oh I want to tell you so many great stories Chris.

          • LOL… that’s what I get for asking silly questions. 🙂

          • Holly

Does this mean you do not wish for a story?!

          • After I refresh my libation! 😀

          • Holly

            POUR LIBATIONS!

          • Annnnnnnnd…. DONE.

        • Adam Black

          what are …. “screme eggs”

Never mind, We dont eat eggs on yaoi unless its purely metaphorical and you dont use your teeth

          • Holly

            A chocolate confection!

          • Cadbury eggs made for halloween. I’m guessing

          • Here Here… (and that’s not a misspelling)

  • Holly

    How do I summon @disqus_FidZAwLkzS:disqus and @chrisdangerfield:disqus ???

    • You probably just did.

      • Holly

        They must appear!

        • Sorry he had to come home from work…

          • Sapfo

Mr Dangerfield, are you commenting on the job?

          • Nope… today was a day that would have involved too many swear words if I was commenting on the job. 🙁

          • Sapfo

            Hug to Chris!
Bad work can not touch you here. I will protect you!

          • Yayyyyyyyy….

          • Adam Black

            hmm bad touch

            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xat1GVnl8-k,

( disqus has no blocking )

          • Adam Black

I was blocked on G+ by a friend , last time I posted that.

          • Evil shall be repaid.

          • Adam Black

            LOL

          • Holly

I have a Job! It is my first job in 18 months! I started today!

*gives Chris a box of goodies* Sorry you had a bad day.

          • Congratulation on the good news. That’s great.

          • Adam Black

            thats great

          • Holly

I waited until I saw both you and @disqus_FidZAwLkzS:disqus

          • One must be nimble to even comprehend the ineffable ways of the god DISQUS….

          • Adam Black

            are you thus so nimble?

          • Neigh, I am but a humble seeker of Disquian truth.

          • Adam Black

            we are hereish

    • Adam Black

Varför skulle all vår heta längtan
      bindas i det frusna bitterbleka?
Höljet var ju knoppen hela vintern.
Vad är det för nytt, som tär och spränger?

  • Holly

I HAVE A 1L JUG OF CHOCOLATE MILK! PRAISE ME!!!!

    • Sapfo

Oh the holy Holly! I praise you….
Me, I have antibiotics…. and I just realized that they don´t taste as good as chocolate milk -_-

      • Holly

        …. Now I feel bad.

        • Sapfo

Even if antibiotic taste bad (really bad). I do take them for a reason and they are helping.

          • Adam Black

            um , what
            ?

          • Nothing… we were just discussing a rash….

          • Adam Black

OK leave me out of it

          • Sapfo

            A rash? O.O

I had an ingrown fingernail that became so infected that my finger was twice as large. I could barely move my hand, but Now it is healing.

  • Jamie Dutton

I bring Pumpkin Spice chocolate Kisses to the camping! Oh and m&ms! 🙂

    • Holly

*tackles Jamie for M&Ms and leaves screme eggs in exchange before returning to blanket fort*

    • Peanut M&M’s?

    • Steven K.

Are those for real??? I didn’t know those existed! (PSCKs) I need to find some of those!

  • Holly

*builds a blanket fort* Who wants to hear a story?!

    • SCARY?

      • Holly

Not scary. Just sad, or happy depending on how you see it. Unless you want a scary one!

        • Nope… had that at work. Still calming down with libation!

          • Holly

Once Upon a September, a young Canadian android girl met a handsome German exchange student. Not only was the man Tall and model handsome, but he was very intelligent and compassionate. He enjoyed good music and acting, just like the android girl. He was very affectionate, always touching and hugging people, even walking the android girl back to her abode with his arm around her shoulder. He told the android girl many times that she was beautiful, and often shared treats with her He was a great cook, as well.

Life was very happy for the android girl. Finally she had met a handsome, intelligent, well-dressed, compassionate man with a sexy accent who was affectionate and thought she was pretty. Perhaps one day, she would find one who was straight.

THUS ends the tale of my new friend.

          • Adam Black

what kind of attachments does he come with?

          • davefragments

he slices, he dices, he makes julienne fries — what else, but a vego-matic.

          • Steven K.

I’d want mine to have a high-powered “juicing” unit.

          • Adam Black

            before careful with your carrot

          • Holly

            Attach….ments….?!

          • Adam Black

            An android boy without attachments?
            whats the point?

He ought to have specials holes , and projectiles to fit every type of pleasure.

You should be able to get the exact right size and shapes for your body.

and maybe something with S-curve if you want to want him nail your male friends

          • Holly

            No, he is human.

Funny note, he CALLED me an android today. He said I had to be, as I am perfect. I am highly upset that he learned my secret, and that he is NOT EVEN BI >_<

          • Adam Black

so your stories talk to you ?

          • Holly

No. My real life friends who I make silly stories about talk to me.

          • SofiaT

Ugh. The best ones are always either gay or taken. *shakes head*

          • Truth!

          • Steven K.

Straight or taken, from my perspective! ESPECIALLY “taken” in recent years – the most compatible fellows for me that I have EVER met I’ve met in the last few years and they have all been partnered already :_(

          • Holly

Hence why I want to find someone soon. Ten years from now it’s going to be even harder, and twenty years from now it will impossible.

          • Don’t buy into the propaganda Holly! Step away from the dark side!

          • Holly

Dark Side? Having a boyfriend at 25 will make me a sith?! WHAT?!

          • No, believing that it’ll be impossible to find a man once you’ve reached your second score of years. Don’t believe it!

          • Holly

OH well yeah. I’m talking more about first boyfriends and less about life partners. 😛

          • I don’t see why it would be any different. 🙂

          • Holly

Because at 25 no one is in a rush to get a commitment, but they are when you get older.

As a person who has never had any kind of relationship, I want to test the waters a bit.

            Perhaps I am wrong.

          • I’ll give you that, but at the same time, rushing is no fun.

          • Holly

            Rushing what?

          • Into things and such. Ha! It’s okay, Imma cautious sort, ignore me.

          • Holly

            Okay. *heads back Modaj*

          • Holly

So you’re saying I need to steal one of the taken ones? 😛

          • SofiaT

            Trust me. Don’t go there.

          • Holly

Blarg I just want ONE boyfriend.

          • Steven K.

Well, if it’s any consolation, my entire 49 years of life has been filled with countless frustrations like that.

          • This was complicated bit… so either straight (not good) or gay (not good) or taken (not good) or a juicer (not good… I think) or it slices and dices and that just scares me so (not good)…

            This sounds serious.

          • Holly

That depends on how the story thus far has ended? Have you completed your romantic journey and found someone etc?

    • Blanket Fort!!!!

      • Holly

WE HAVE A FAN SO IT”S LIKE A BOUNCY CASTLE!

    • Jamie Dutton

      Storytime!!
*flops down on a large pillow*

      • Holly

Yes I have told it to Chris down below!

  • Not long now… 🙂

    • Holly

      OFF I GO TO PREPARE!

      • Y’all crack me up with that virgin thing. 😀

        • *Cracks knuckles* Going for one more…

          • Sapfo

            Yeah You wish!

          • Holly

IT IS ME WHO WILL WIN!

          • Me and my one open eye will try to beat you!

          • Steven K.

In that case/situation, you can pretend you are Odin. You can send out Huginn and Muninn to scout for you.

          • Sapfo

I remember when Holly was just our trophy. Look at you now. All grown up. Your on lil Holly!

          • One virgin was all it took. Now she thirst for more.

          • Holly

            And I claim it!

          • Holly

I am my own lil holly!

          • Sapfo

And you have a cute cat ^_^

          • Holly

He is sleeping on my arm again.

          • Sapfo

And Now it is my how should go to bed. An advice from their elders. Do not get angry before going to bed. hint hint!

          • Yup, exactly!
I should make a count on how many I got on here instead of just hunting them. I’ve stopped on TH since I’ve lost count ;-p

          • Sapfo

Stop distracting me. I have a job to do and the virgin is mine today 😉

        • Jamie Dutton

Virgins are always popular, but end up in some sticky situations usually involving hellscapes, volcanoes, or pointy things 🙁

          • Steven K.

Some are much more blunt and knob-like. Practically infinite variety *SIGH!*

        • Holly

ALEX’S AMUSEMENT HAS BROUGHT ME POWER!!!!

          • >.> Did you make a deal with him?

          • Holly

            No I just felt inspired!

    • Tina

I can camp until 12:30! But then I have to go to bed because my boss decided I should come in at 8am after working till 11pm

  • I’m obviously late to the party *looks upon sevearal pages of camping.. and Swedish poetry*.. but seems I’m right in time for the ‘hunt’ 😀

    • Holly

      I WILL DEFEAT YOU! *grins*

      • I can hardly see through my eyes, but I will fight you for it anyway.
Have a migraine, but since I can’t sleep, have tried for hours, then I might as well be here a try for it.
Is it me, or is Disqus slow reacting tonight?

    • Sapfo

You missed a lot of fun XD

    • Jamie Dutton

      I saved you some M&Ms! 🙂

  • jreed3842
