Thank you all so much for your generous support!

So! Commander has decided to engage in a little personal sharing. I guess being in a police station again is making her feel a bit nostalgic. Meanwhile, Spooky is still looking chilly. Will this very special episode of COPS that Commander is narrating stop Jack Frost from nipping at his nose?

Tune in this Saturday to find out! Hope to see you there! 🙂

  • Oooh, Amanda’s gotta rap sheet.

    • Elrohir

      Nice capture AJ 🙂

      • I don’t think I did. I thought I saw Jakk’s post here seconds before mine. But it seems to be gone at the moment.

        • Disqus has been twitchy tonight.

          • Found it. Discus thought it was spam.

          • Elrohir

Silly Disqus! That’s not spam! That’s Jakk! 🙂

          • It’s been thinking weird things are spam lately.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Spam, spam, eggs and spam…

          • I don’t like spam. 😀

          • …..*rolls eyes at Disqus* Seriously Disqus??? Twichty little problem maker!

          • What a pain Discus is! And so close too. Just seconds.

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

          • Nah, it’s good Jakk! You got it fair and square. Just taking part of the long tradition that is taking second place: Grumbling. 😀

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Coming in second place sucks, because it’s so close to first. I’d rather be third or fourth.

          • That’s one way of looking at it. But I can definitely see the point of that.

          • Eh. I am happy if I place anywhere in the first three. ^_^

  • I hope the people she was trying to help were okay.

    • Elrohir

Yup. No indicator as to whether she got stopped on the way to help them or the way back.
Am I the only one who thinks the detective to the right of Amanda in panel 6 looks like Parker? <>

  • Sapfo

Sit Amanda. Something to drink and something to eat. All is calm, there is no demon heads to get excited about here. But we do get a story

  • Madock345

This makes me even more curious about how Amanda’s powers work. A standard comic book Telepath would have come out with some shtick like blocking her presence from their minds, or making them think she was the owner of the car, but her powers don’t seem to work that way.

Also, I think it’s funny that she’s gonna sit there and drink the soda we all thought was for Spookeh, if she eats the candy bar too I might be angry.

    • Klaus

I think I see what she is doing. The cola makes the situation more relaxed.

  • Elrohir

Okay, so before I forget my manners again tonight and get lost in the story and imagery of the page and the discussion thereof:
Thank you very much Alex, Adam and Veronica. You continue to deliver. I like Amanda’s approach in building rapport. I think it’s a good read of how to reach Spooky. And Alex, sneaking in extra back story for Amanda into the backstory of Amanda and Spooky? Brilliant! And so more of the world is exposed. Adam, I have to tell you that I almost got lost in the map in panel 6. The level of detail you put into it, even showing the county/township boundaries within the state map. And enough detail that I was almost ready to suggest a state. But while close, the outline doesn’t quite match. Really nice touch there. And Veronica, the coloring of almost Sepia style tones for the memory flashback, that works SO well. It all pulls together to build the story. But I’m going to have to spend some serious time with it, this is just the stuff that clubbed me over the head in the first couple of read through sessions.
Thanks so much Alex, Adam and Veronica. Very cool.

    • Thank you, Elrohir, for your thoughtful response. Glad you liked it! 🙂

  • At this point, I don’t know if Spooky wants to hear the tale. I guess we’ll see how he takes to it afterwards.

But this is cool. A flashback within a flashback. 🙂 And that teenage pout, Amanda appears to be a champion at it.

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

He may not be in the mood to hear anything, Admiral. But Amanda has to try to make a connection with him to get him to open up.

      • Well sure. Right now he wants to be left alone, doesn’t mean that’s going to happen.

    • Adam Black

I want to see Psychic powers in play

      • You read my mind.

        • Elrohir

Annnd…thanks for my morning chuckle…nicely done.

        • Adam Black

Then you atleast, got your wish.

Unfortunately, I am not self-absorbed enough for your recursive wit, to satisfy my Meta- Hunger.

( Oh yes, Pun intended )

          I want her Amandas Telepathy, Telegragh-ied, …

With a bit of a mind flip

          You’re into the time slip.

And nothing can ever be the same.

          You’re spaced out on sensation.

          Like you’re under sedation………

  • Klaus

Amanda’s eyes are back to brown. I think that they will be brown on page 7 as well, once it is finished.

    • Elrohir

I think you’re right. Kind of partial to the brown eyes myself, but I will confess that until Alex said no I was thinking color change with power use was cool too.

  • Elrohir

    Nice capture Jakk!

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

Thanks Elrohir….glad you didn’t call me Spam. 😉

      • Elrohir

Hah! One does not get to be an old elf by referring to successful Virgin Hunters as “Spam”! 🙂

  • Madock345

Now flashback amanda in the police station needs to have a flashback to something her mother told her even earlier.

  • Crystal Brewton

    OK I think I’m in … OUTSTANDING!!!!!!

  • Adam Black

Youve inserted this backstory , at a really interesting point storywise.
No sooner does Kyle recover from a return from hell,
then we get spooky doing the same

    It reminds me of the Star Wars: machete-order ( 4, 5, 2,3, 6 ) ….

I wonder if it will end on a cliffhanger resolved by the main story ?

( I hope Spooky doesnt betray everybody. @Chris D will be very very sad )

    • Guest

    • You are, of course, correct, Adam. Very sad.

I’ve been doing my best now, for months, to prepare myself for the moment Spooky betrays him and turns Kyle over to Duncan and Laampros, all because of his unending love for Sircea.

However, to be honest, no matter how I try… I still think I will be very sad.

  • Danny

It looks like Amanda is telling Spooky, “Look, I understand a bit about crazy and unbelievable occurrences. I’ve been there, and I know how it feels not to be listened to. Please, you can tell me. I won’t laugh at you, and I will believe you, no matter how insane it may seem to others. You don’t have to bear this alone anymore.”

    • Klaus

Beheading a demon or stealing a car. About equally crazy, right?

      • Danny

More that the reasons behind her stealing the car were unbelievable, I think.

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I had a different take on Amanda’s story. It seemed to me that she was trying to make a connection to him by telling him about her troubles with the law because he is in a police station. But his being in a police station is not his problem but spending a year in hell. I’m sure she’ll get him to talk one way or another.

      • Danny

Possibly. But I think you’re right; she will get him to open up a bit somehow.

        • means are the ends

I think it’s both, because he was found wandering with a demon head! He’s in a police station, in a totally crazy situation, and he’s obviously traumatized. However he ‘explains’ that demon head is going to sound nuts, and he’s got to know that. Who’s going to believe him?

      • zunden

The tactic here is more importantly, “You’re not alone,” I think. She’s starting not by expecting him to tell her everything while he’s barely even aware of her name, but by sharing something about her that she probably doesn’t talk about very often. At the time, she was probably in a complex whirlwind of emotions: Confusion, anger, fear, shame, dedication, etc. In that sense, it is a comparable situation. It also sounds like there was more at play than just stealing a car—probably her abilities starting to come online when she’d never had them before.

So, she’s not just always this perfectly put-together person with no problems and no capacity to understand his emotions, and more importantly, she sure wasn’t a few years ago. She got to this place over time. This is a tactic that, actually, a lot of therapists use to get clients to start talking. It puts them both on more equal footing, so that the person who needs to talk feels like they have more space to do so. Rather than talking to the ideal daughter of a powerful woman, he’s talking to a girl who had some issues with the cops after going through something she didn’t fully understand. If he happens to be a boy who’s having some issues with the cops after going through something he doesn’t totally understand or can’t fully explain, that’ll be okay. Could he still think that she couldn’t possibly understand? Yes. Maybe the magnitude of abuse he took in Hell makes her little story sound pleasant. It probably did. Nonetheless, though, she has opened the door for him to be imperfect without being a criminal or a freak.

By contrast, the cops were already treating him as some sort of creep who needs to be detained in order to prevent further damage to society. Why would he ever say anything to someone who both doesn’t have a frame of reference for understanding him and who seems to have already decided he’s a piece of crap?

        • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I don’t think the cops were treating him badly. He is a minor, they found him naked wandering about. It’s their job to detain him until they find out who he is and what happened to him, if abuse or a crime was committed, etc. They also need to find out who his parents are so that they can release him to their custody.
I only fault the cops for not having a psychologist present to try and get him to open up.

          • zunden

“Badly” means different things when you’re psychologically healthy and when you’re not. Like, it’s not bad to gently touch someone’s shoulder, unless you’re a male cop trying to get a statement from a young woman who was just violently raped. There’s a certain way you have to talk to people who have clearly been traumatized, and something tells me that these cops really don’t know how to do that… It’s not saying they’re terrible people or that they don’t know how to do their job, it’s more that…That kind of interaction usually isn’t their job, and they probably either weren’t trained how to do it, or they weren’t trained to do it well enough for a situation of this severity.

  • lol

  • Kiri

So she’s sitting parallel to Spooky. That is definitely reducing the stress he is in. She’s not asking him questions – also reducing stress. She’s being vulnerable to him and talking about herself. That’s taking the focus off him and his hurt and giving his psyche a chance to regroup and settle. Her story is about how she did something unbelievable and dangerous at 14. The same age as Spooky. Demonstrating that she can empathise. She’s drinking the Cola. Which if she offers it him later, proves that it isn’t poisoned. She’s certainly doing pretty well in bringing the defcon down a notch or two. Damn! The girl is good!

    • Klaus

Just sitting there drinking makes the situation more relaxed, more normal.

    • stickfigurefairytales

I had the same thought about the drink!

  • Simba

I couldn’t help but hear a sarcastic “Back in MY day” in my mind as the 16 year old says “When I was 14…” in retrospect. Hehe. ^.^
I just love the body language and facial expressions in this comic. I’m enraptured… Especially by the cop staring at pouty Amanda through the car window. That face! It is crackin me up even in this awkward, tense moment as she tries to thaw out poor baby Spooky.

    • Elrohir

Nice. You got me grinning with that. I was hearing, “You kids today…”
But of course that’s not the tone she takes. The silent moment while she sips the cola glancing at Spooky sideways. And then her gaze shifts away from him into story telling mode. He’s not under observation. Nobody glaring at him or yelling at him for being difficult or uncooperative. Just a story put out there; listen to it or not, believe it or not. But no pressure. just sharing. It will catch his attention. I’m sure of it.

  • TwilightDreamer

    aaaaww 🙂
Love it so far, looking forward to the rest.

  • Monica

Ohhh Spooky!! Gosh I just want to hug him! <3

  • SofiaT

Two things hit me about this page. The first is the coloring of the flashback. Excellent work, Veronica!

The second is the script itself. The characters are -obviously- a writer’s creation so it makes sense that they “take” something from him, like a child takes after their parent. You create the characters, something of your own personality will rub off on them (even the bad guys can often have a bit of the creator’s “darker” side in them), it’s inevitable.
But this page, and the way Amanda approaches Spooky, the way she knows exactly what to say and how to say it, how close to get without getting too close, it reminds me of Alex more than any other page in this comic so far. Because -without having ever met him- the man I’ve come to know through just his posts and comments and work, has impressed me with his vast capacity for empathy and emotional intelligence. And Amanda does the same on this page.

We found out a few pages ago who Amanda’s mother is, but on this page is obvious who her “father” is too. 🙂

    • fujoshifanatic

I totally agree with this! Excellent observation. 🙂

    • David Welbourn

Perhaps it’s obvious to you who her quote-father-close-quote is, but not to me.

      • She means Alex 🙂 Amanda on this page is very like Alex is in his approach to people.
It’s clear on this page that Alex ‘made’ her *lol*

    • Elrohir

That was particularly observant (I hadn’t thought it through) and beautifully expressed.

    • Well, heck, that has to be one of the sweetest things anyone has every said about me. Thanks, Sofia! ::blush::

(And I totally agree about Vero’s flashback colors on this page! :D)

  • fujoshifanatic

Oh Spooky…the more we see of him and his body language, the more complex we can see his emotions are right now. It’s so obvious he needs a hug (and some industrial-strength TLC), but equally clear that he does Not. Want. Anyone. Touching. Him. At least not until he can grab hold of his surroundings–the fact that he is no longer in Hell–at the moment.

Amanda is doing just that; she is throwing him a lifeline out of the darkness of his recent past, using her memories as a guide, so he can find his bearings in the here and now and deal with his present. This is handled so beautifully on this page, both narratively and artistically (the effect of the cop car lights in panel 4 are just stunning to me!), that I just have to commend TYP’s Creative League for another job well done!

Looking forward to this weekend, so I can enjoy both the next update and celebrating Pride! We do it early in this part of the country while the weather is still nice, before it gets too hot, humid, rainy and all-around wretched in June, which is the start of hurricane season here.

  • Vera

Love it always but… Four humongous male police officers in a room with one advocate-less female minor? Sooo not cool ( long time fan, first time caller 🙂 )

    • stickfigurefairytales

Ooh, very good point. Maybe there could have been someone else off-panel?

  • Pikinanou

A few pages ago, I was swooning at Amanda’s chubby cheeks and how much I wanted to pinch them because they were so cute. Now, I wanna do the same with Spooky’s but I highly doubt he would appreciate… Maybe later?

  • bronakopdin

I wouldn’t have expected you to start such a story just like this, Commander!
If this will help to get warm with Spooky?

Looking at him, he actually averts his fave and whole body from Amanda… even opening his mouth like in a maybe slightly disgusted manner?
I guess any closeness to anyone right now is too much for him, after what happened…

The most important part for me on this page: The déjà vu!
Doesn’t this remind us all on how Spooky tried to calm down Kyle in the end of last chapter?
I really like how the characters help each other out by sharing their most horrible or shameful memories with each other… in fact this is what we do in reality, too, right?

If there were two people to comfort you, whom would you believe to understand you better? The one that just gives you nice words or the one who can tell his own story of misery?
For me it’s probably the latter, it makes you believe he understands your situation a little better because he had to face sth similiar before by himself…
of course this doesn’t only apply only to all the dramatic and horrible situations, it’s the same with easy and everyday things!
just imagine you slipped in winter und made a fabulous salto backwards before landing, everyone laughs at you. then a guy talks you up and says “don’t sweat it” while still laughing and then another approaches you afterwards and says “you should have seen my pirouette last week”
so which did comfort you more?

it’s really reassuring that you’re not the ony miserable person around!
and the fact that those others share their stories with you makes you sympathize with them more, it’s a little more intimate and trustworthy in my opinion
so I’d rather open up to someone like that than to someone who only gives me nice words I guess…

…if he even gives nice words, right Detective Boxer?

    • Rumored

I totally agree about that Spooky took a page from Amanda’s book when he was comforting Kyle, and I think it’ll work. However, I disagree that the open mouth looks disgusted. I took it more as cringing in fear.

      • bronakopdin

I did write MAYBE and SLIGHTLY on purpose there, of course most of it is fear and the other aspect is just one possibility of many since I can’t read minds either, I just said it would not be that unusual if the mimic would contain a little bit of disgust, too, since he was violated not too long ago so every bit of closeness to anyone could make him remember those horrible things so I just assumed it may play a little role in the whole bunch of feelings within him 🙂

  • Awesome page. All I’m gonna say for now, but I’ll be back when I can think more coherent after a good nap 🙂

For now I came, I saw, I felt all the feels, and now I leave to sleep.

  • Derkins

Except she just looked angry in her flashback. Spooky has the look of true pain on his face. I give her props for trying to find some common ground, at least… this situation is a *little* out of the realm of a stolen car… not that she won’t be able to help. Just sayin.

  • stickfigurefairytales

  • Too zoned after dental work to comment coherently. But really liking the way Amanda’s working here – especially the hint that she might understand the problem of “even if I told the truth, nobody would believe me”.

  • Adam Black

    You wait,

this is going 5 levels deep before we are done

  • Rumored

Does anyone else picture the Invisible Purple People Eater as on-eyed, one-horned and capable of flight?I think the IPPE must have been a manifestation/ near-manifestation of Spooky’s Magic. Like, if Amanda didn’t kick everyone out when she did then there would’ve been a very, very visible purple thing eating people of every color. Also, even while invisible to the majority of people, it clearly had a color in Spooky’s head, and any psychic would’ve known the color of the still-invisible purple people eater.

I would be really happy to hear opinions on the plausibility of my suspicions from any long-time readers. I’m new here and I’ve only read through the actual comics, not all the artist’s commentary nor fan comments.

    • Klaus

The invisible purple people eater appeared only in the cast list of the page posted on April’s fool day.

Are demons people? If so the PPE may have been after the demon head. There are no other purple people around for it to eat. Unless they are invisible. We still don’t know if the invisible purple people eater is an invisible creature that eats purple people, or a creature that eats invisible purple people.

      • Rumored

I’m proposing that it is simply a people-eater which is simultaneously invisible and purple.

    • SofiaT

That’s a very fun theory! I’m all for new, fun theories 🙂

While I think the cast-list at the bottom of the page was probably just AlexHumour (you’ll learn all about it if you stick with this comic), I like the way you think, therefore: Headcanon. The Invisible Purple People Eater are manifestations of Spooky’s magic, until proven otherwise. 😀

  • kdm3rw

Yo, I heard y’all like flashbacks! So, here’s a flashback in your flashback!

  • Sapfo

I have seen some mention this earlier in the commentators, but I also want to say that the difference in the colors of the ‘now’ and in Amanda’s memory is incredibly well done. Bad ass Amanda, who would have imagined this 😀

Before, I could not decide if it was dirt on Spooky, but there seems to be little sores/bleedning. Someone should have bandaged him. They should have taken care of him better.

    Thanks A.V.A!

And Alex, I guess it is now the flying ninja pigs come into the story.

  • Wayne Lunkwitz

Similar, yet sooooo very different! Although I imagine her Mom wasn’t too happy when she found out about it!

    • Johndar

Once Amanda explained it it probably wasn’t as big of a deal as it could’ve been. Her Mom seems to trust her a lot.

  • My heart…breaking. Spooky’s expression of anguish in panel two. What he must have gone through…

Am wondering if there was a single moment where he decided he was a hero and wouldn’t let the monsters win. Was it something Amanda said? Did? Something entirely different?

Oh and I’ll join everyone else in congratulating Veronica on the flashback color palette. Ace work.

  • Rumored

It’s not just you, it’s canon.

  • Wow, thank you Alex. This is a lovely, subtle and a rather delicate page, with much more going on than I saw on the first read. In fact it took me a number of reads and then going back a couple pages to begin to feel it all. Adam and Veronica, the art is so subtle and Amanda and Spooky’s poses and expressions are really exquisite in a lovely quiet way. All compliments to you all.

Fellow fans, I apologize up front if I’m just repeating thoughts that others have previously commented on. I’ve been short on time, so forgive me if you’ve already said this, and we’ll please file it under GMTA. Thank you.

More than usual, I felt this page had to be read with pages 7 & 8 for the flowing ‘feel’ of it. So, that’s what I did.

First two panels (and a couple on pg-8) I just wanted to say how struck I was by the emotional posing of Spooky. It reminded me, in a way, of Kyle naked in the warehouse. This is not the ‘anger’ of a young man who has ripped a head off of a demon and is beating his chest (Captain Obvious… but I wanted to say it). It’s not belligerence or upset with the police. IMHO, it seems the pure shame of the untouchable. Look how he leans away from Amanda on this page in p-1 and then in p-2 he closes his eyes in that “I’m not here” sorta way we all do sometimes. It’s heart breaking. Such wrong-headed shame. It’s what rape does. It often leaves the victims in a state of horribly wrongful shame. Kyle, Spooky, anyone. The younger the victim the worse it is.

Now what is really amazing to me is that, starting on page-8 and flowing through to pg-9, Amanda becomes almost serene. Look at her expressions and how calm she becomes. Adam and Veronica’s work on her face is stunning. So relaxed as she projects what she wants Spooky to feel. The line work and color on her face and skin tones is so beautiful in that natural way that is so appealing.

Amanda quietly TAKES CHARGE on page-7 and continues through until the present, backed up nicely by her mother. She generates pure calm. It’s that calm that says, “I’m in charge now and we have nothing to worry about.” All non-verbal, but I want to believe it’s felt by Spooky on some level.

On the last panel of page 8 she grabs Detective Boxer’s chair and quietly drags it around the table, so she’s next to Spooky. Not too close, but clearly saying non-verbally, “I’m NOT afraid of you. You are not untouchable to me.” It’s exactly the same manner and way that Spooky dealt with Kyle (lots of differences in the scene, they were his friends, he was coming out of the closet, he was naked, etc… etc…). However after they gave Kyle his clothes and joked about the gay thing, Spooky sits down right ‘next’ to Kyle… who is verbally sharing his shame at the beginning of the page…

And Spooky is non-verbally and verbally saying the same thing, “Hey, I’m right here and I’m fine to sit next to you.” Maybe I’m making too many connections, but Amanda seems to know her trauma #101 quite well already, or instinctively and, via his own healing, Spooky picked up a lot of good stuff and used it well with Kyle.

(I told you I’m sorry if you already said all this… LOL.)

Notice that, other than the side glance in p-2 at closed eyed Spooky. Amanda doesn’t look AT him at all. It’s the exact opposite of him being under the constant microscope of the detectives. And instead of heading straight to the point… Your name… that head… you naked… She shares an entirely unrelated story and we go back in time.

I’m sure others have commented on the delight of a backstory within a backstory (good stuff Alex). But I liked that it quietly does several things for Spooky. Amanda is saying… ‘I’m not talking about you’, ‘I know what it’s like not to be believed and to know that you probably wont be’ … and most important, ‘I’m not perfect and I’m not here to judge you.’

I’m sure anyone who has been in therapy knows the technique wherein a therapist sidles up on the central issue because the victim can’t go there straight away. This is particularly true of men who have experienced rape. The CDC Violence Prevention reports a huge disparity in the numbers of men even WILLING to report that they were raped. They already believe that significant numbers of women will not report it (and the reporting numbers are very big for women, 1 in 5). But the number of men unwilling to even admit to it is staggering. And, the younger the victim, the less willing they are to report an occurrence and the greater the shame.

So, the point being that she is treating Spooky like a classic rape victim. Not looking at him, not talking directly about him. Rather she’s beginning to tell him who SHE is. In the last panel on page 9 she says straight out, “…now I was in a police station, all alone, to face the consequences.”

It’s actually very gently done and very wise. I’ll have to wonder where her experience comes from, but she is clearly the therapist that we (and Spooky!) have all waited for.

Beautiful, human, emotional page. Oh, and finally, gotta say I LOVED Amanda’s flashback kick-ass expression in panel #5. She just rocks.

I want to say again that having this Bonus section happen just HERE! Is perfect. It makes our Navy Seal Commander so much more human and lovable. I think you picked the perfect option ’cause I’m loving this.

Alex, Adam and Veronica… thanks again. You really did this one right. I’m just left hoping for this story and a little quiet supportive energy to help our Spooky unclench even a little. The hugging will happen when the time is right. That said, this page is just perfect.

    • Thank you, Chris, for another wonderfully thoughtful comment. And I’m glad you’re liking both the bonus story and the timing of it. Necessity was the mother of invention here, of course, but once it seemed like it would be necessary I tried to choose a good spot for it and I’m glad that it’s working for you. 🙂

    • Klaus

Going back to panel, Spooky is a bit disingenuous. It is more personal than that.

  • panel two: ´s’up?

  • Summer

I would never have though of Commander having troubles with the law, so what an interesting thing for her to share!

  • jreed3842

SO! Today is my birthday!! 😀
I, unfortunately, will have to miss camping tonight… I’m going to go get the boyfriend and we’re gonna go out to eat and spend the night playing a bunch of video games!
HOPEFULLY a World-conquering villian doesn’t send me to Hell…. but if I do get sent there, I’ll get Laampros’ autograph and take plenty of selfies with the giant floating eyeball. Lol.

    • Happy Birthday! Enjoy it to the fullest!

      • jreed3842

        Thanks, Admiral Jane!! 😀

    • Happy Birthday!

……..If you go would you take a pic of Laampros for me?

      • jreed3842

        Of course!

    • SofiaT

      Happy Hell-Free Birthday! 😀

    • Happy birthday, jreed!

    • bronakopdin

      Happy Birthday 🙂

    • purplefoxglove

Happy Birthday! In case the villain DOES show up…make sure to tape him stripping?

  • Klaus

On the top of the page is an ad for a kickstarter project that failed August 14 2013. Seems a waste of ad money to me.

    • davefragments

I think that we get different advertisements. Mine is for men in picture books and no dialogue. I don’t think I’ve seen one for a kickstarter this week.

      • Klaus

The ads are different each time, so some sirt of randomness is involved. In this case, all three ads on the page were for the same web comic. And the one at the top was for a kickstarter to publish that comic in print.

  • ……I refreshed the page and just above the comment section is a “featured comment” said comment is from “Disqus” and reads You’re embarrassed to talk about it. You’ve wondered about it for years.
Alas, you’re among the millions who want to know, “How do you pronounce

The scary thing is that that got 1718 upvotes…..

How much more annoying are you trying to get Disqus? Is there a way to change the “featured message” to something more relevant?

    • davefragments

I didn’t get that but it sure is a stupid “featured message.”

      • ….Yeah and it is still showing up on mine and is now at 1801 upvotes…

hmmmm….maybe that that first “s” is silent and should be pronounced either “di*k us” or “di*ks”

  • b3nc0

I won’t be camping tonight… WOOHOO‼ No, I am not happy that we’ll miss each other (yಠ¸ಠ)y But I need the shut-eye for tomorrow there’s an horror movies marathon night ❂_❂ See ya, have a good night ヽ(ヅ)ノ

    • Enjoy the horror marathon! What movies will you be watching?

      • b3nc0

A remastered version of Shining, Blue Ruin , We are what we are , Space Pirate Captain Harlock and a surprise (we don’t know in which order they’ll be shown, either…)

        • Sounds interesting, I don’t think I have even heard of those, well except Shining. ^_^

          • b3nc0

Blue Ruin & We are… won’t be distributed in theatres after this & a festival in Brussel… But I hope Harlock will be coz I’ll gladly see it again ♥ It’s the adaptation of a Japanese tv anime from the 70’s 80’s (yeah I’m that old) from the same artist as galaxy express 999 and Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem with a Daft Punk soundtrack. Phew, that was a buncha numbers, ne?

          • I think I have watched Interstella 5555… was….interesting. ^_^

    • davefragments

Last Tuesday I just plain fell asleep. I was laying on the bed with my computer and blinked too long. I woke up at 9am the next morning.

      • b3nc0

Since Saturday night, I have been walking asleep, jumping at the single slightest sound (I even screamed when my bro made a stupid behlehbehleh sound behind me) (°Д°) I didn’t sleep sunday-to-monday night either, just a couple of hours at dawn. My head is nodding on and off right now x_x I don’t if I have enough coffee to transfuse before tomorrow’s camp ?_?

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Have fun tomorrow night!

      • b3nc0

        Thanks, I had!

  • Empty camping tonight?

    • Well you know, The Hobbit 2 came out on DVD/BluRay this week. 😀

      • Ah…..yeah….that explains it. ^_^ (has no monies so isn’t really on top of things that she would usually like to spend it on)

        • New movies is one of the very few things we make certain we get. 🙂 Or at least we try.

          • Eh, I might just wait until the third one comes out and then either buy or ask for the trilogy as a gift…..wonder if they will have an extended edition like LotR?

          • Oh sweet baby buddha on a cracker, I don’t know if they could make the Hobbit movies any longer. How much more walking and running and strolling and running could they do? 😛

          • You would be surprised! ^_^

          • Probably not. I just don’t know if I could handle it being any longer. I mean we have the extended version of LOTR… Which explains stuff the shorter version left out. But still…wow

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I agree, they are already too long, but since I’m a big fan I don’t care. They could make lots of movies based on the Silmarillion, but I don’t think that they have the rights to that book.

          • Ah, but it’s not cool when they make it so orcs can be in the sun. 😐

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I’m not a big fan of the changes, but I understand that they only have limited time and also a film cannot be like a book. It’s always disappointing when you read a book and then go to see the film. I even saw a film once where they even changed the characters names! 🙁

          • Don’t watch A Ring of Endless LIght done by Disney… claims it is based of the book but don’t be taken in by their lies!!!! It has dolphins and some of the characters, but that is about it. It bares very very very very very very very very very very little resemblance to the book.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Good to know, thank you!

          • It was such an amazing book….and it was reduced to that…….drivel….I was extremely upset when I watched it. I wanted to gather every copy of that filming together and burn them all.

          • stickfigurefairytales

          • Yeah, that bad.

          • stickfigurefairytales

My earliest memory of being upset about book-to-movie changes was renting Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the one with Gene Wilder) with my dad and me arguing that it *supposed* to be called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and it was stupid that they changed it.

          • Eh, but Gene will always be my Willy Wonka…..Depp was just a little too creepy and that whole father issue thing that they added in? WTF?

Though if you combined the two, you would have an epic Wonka (minus the father issues…..)

          • stickfigurefairytales

I agree, but Gene was a pretty creepy Wonka himself.

          • Ok……Gene was creepy, Depp was disturbing?

          • It was just so they could chase Radagast. That was the only reason. It was a cheat. The rool of cool won. Boo. But other than that. Oh and Bilbo not scrounging in the dirt for the ring… But other than those things it was fine. Okay, no, wait, them talking in elvish and dwarvish and orcish….sooooo slowly. Other than those three things the movie was good

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

They also turned Radagast into comic relief, if I remember correctly he wasn’t like that in the books. There was very little of him in the books, just that he liked animals and nature.

          • It’s been a while since I read the Hobbit.

          • davefragments

I never read THE HOBBIT. I had already read too much by Heinlein, Asimov and Clarke before reading LOTR and that type of high fantasy didn’t appeal. I mean, I asked a Nun if I could write a book report on STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND. She kind of gagged on the book when she read it.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Really? Aw, that’s a shame that you’ve never read it.

          • davefragments

No regrets on my part. I’ve read more fantastical things.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Are you pretty much exclusively a sci-fi rather than fantasy fan?

          • davefragments

No but since I’m an engineer science helps.

          • The Hobbit was different than LOTR.

          • stickfigurefairytales

A lot quicker to get into, for one thing. (Though I love both.)

          • Sapfo

            Yes, very different.

          • I understand it was originally written to be a YA novel.

          • Sapfo

The Hobbit? No not YA, more preteen.

          • Well a youth novel of some sort.

          • davefragments

yes, as I recall LOTR was teen and Hobbit was younger.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Nope, Lord of the Rings was adult and Hobbit was a bit younger.

          • davefragments

My first bad experience about it was Tom Bombadil spouting poetry. I’m more a Douglas Adams audience.

          • Douglas Adams is indeed good. ^_^

          • stickfigurefairytales

Although he did come across as kind of oblivious to things, albeit in a fortunate way. Gandalf was able to pass off a message to him because Radagast didn’t realize that Gandalf was being held prisoner and Saruman didn’t think to worry about him because he was, essentially, absent-minded-nature-guy.

          • stickfigurefairytales

(In Lord of the Rings, that is. I don’t actually remember him being in The Hobbit?)

          • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I don’t remember him being in the Hobbit either.

          • stickfigurefairytales

I think he was just in the Appendices, which tells us what Gandalf was doing when he’d disappear during The Hobbit. (He was off fighting the Necromancer with Radagast’s help, I believe.)

          • Yeah, that is soo uncool

          • stickfigurefairytales

I know they did an extended edition of the first one, so I’m guessing there probably will be.

          • Sapfo

There is one, but it is in Blue-.ray. And I dont have that yet. I am so outdated.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Sorry I’m late!

      • Sapfo

You are not late. And you are not early. You arrived just in the time you where supose to.

        • stickfigurefairytales

Sweet, I’m Eowyn *and* I’m a wizard now!

        • stickfigure is a wizard???? SWEET!!!!

          …..did she bring fireworks?

          • stickfigurefairytales

I sure did! *sets off awesome dragon fireworks*

          • yay!!!

      • Hello stickfigure! That one thing you reblogged was hilarious, about the two cows? That last one killed me!!!! 8D

  • Sapfo

    Good morning.
Woke up just to spring’s biggest flirt fest. Thousands flirting birds singing outside my window. That is a good alarmclock. 🙂

    Good morning Campers.
Has anyone done hot chocolate milk for Spooky. I think he needs it, if Amanda is going to tell a long story.

    • Morning Sapfo love! *hugs*

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I think she’s going to be telling stories for one thousand and one days, I believe. 😛

    • Good Morning!

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Good morning!

  • Morning. Finally made my way out of bed as well ..though, opposite Sapfo, I didn’t notice the birds much until after I was more awake 🙂

I just realised how little I’ve really commented on the pages, both here and a couple other comics, in the last week’s time. Time, it runs so fast sometimes 😉
I better try and make up for that on the next page. Should be more possible since we hit a weekend now, and this time I can relax more.

    • Sapfo

      Good morning Danish.
Well soon you have the time to do some really good commenting again. Don´t you worry. But then We will miss you so much.

    • stickfigurefairytales

Good morning! I’m glad you’ll be able to relax this weekend.

      • Thank you. It’s not that I’ve been stressed, I’ve just pretty much had plans every day after work (+ previous weekend I wasn’t home) for the last two weeks.
Doing bigger analyzing on any page has sorta been pushed back.. and back, and then there was new pages and the same thing all over again *lol*

        • stickfigurefairytales

That reminds me of myself back when I was trying to come up with more cool insights and stuff about pages as they came out! I think eventually I just gave up and was like, “Eh, I’ll just let Chris D. do it.”

          • Except that Chris has been remarkably quiet lately about it.

          • stickfigurefairytales

This is true. But other people have stepped in and done an admirable job!

          • Does this mean that Chris feels he is out of his job???? (0.0)

          • stickfigurefairytales

Nah, Danish just pointed out that he did a great one on this page.

          • ……as much as I am on this page and I missed it???????????

………*sigh* Now I have to figure out how I missed his posting that….

          • He did another great one not far below 🙂

    • Morning Danish! *hugs*

    • Good Morning!

  • HarmHarm210

I’ve had this theory in my head for a while now of who Kyle’s other parent may be… since we know that Kyle’s half demon, so what about the other half? I had this sort of idea for a while that maybe his other parent was human (and partly I’ve also thought what if it was a guy). Also that and the other parent – woman or man- when Kyle was about to be born perhaps ended up dying by being burned from the inside out perhaps by Kyle’s powers. >> Just a thought I’ve had for a long time and wanted to put out there, anyway…

    • stickfigurefairytales

Interesting idea, and I do think that you have a point about the dangers posed to a human carrying a fetus with flame powers – I wonder if the incident when Kyle was twelve really was the first time his powers manifested.

      • Sapfo

Does this mean that maybe I should stop trying to teach myself to juggle with flaming fireball, given that I can not even throw a stone?

        • stickfigurefairytales

          Well, it’s a great motivator.

          • Sapfo

Great balls of fire! Here I come! ^_^

      • Saxon_Brenton

Unfortunately not just flame powers. It’s a rather obvious variation on the old Larry Niven essay ‘Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex’ about the risks of any non-super birth mother carrying a superpowered baby. For comparison, the Invisible Woman has had near-fatal birthing troubles from the powers of both her children, and I’m sure there must be others.

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

I hope not, poor Kyle feels guilty enough already. Imagine if he finds out he killed one of his parents too! 🙁

      • HarmHarm210

._. True, Kyle’s already been through enough, but it was just a thought I had for a while, and it could explain why he was orphaned. However there are many ways to explain what happened to his other parent, who they were, how they ended up coming across Laampros and how they ended up pregnant and what happened to them after Kyle was born. The person could still be alive, even. I can’t wait to see where the story goes as far as that missing part of information as well as the fight to save the world from an invasion from Hell. :3

  • stickfigurefairytales

I’m gonna go make some hot chocolate. Can I interest anyone else in a cup?

    • Sapfo

Yes Please. And I think you should take one for Spooky also. He is not saying very much, but I think he needs it.

      • stickfigurefairytales

Will do! *passes you one, then contemplates how to get other mug to Spooky*

    • Jakk Anthony Guzman

      Me, love the stuff. 😀

      • stickfigurefairytales

Here you go! *passes you a mug*

        • Jakk Anthony Guzman

          Yum! 🙂

    • Yes please sweetie!

      • stickfigurefairytales

Here’s your mug! *passes it over*

  • Just came across this, and thought I’d share the cuteness 🙂

    • mogoskier

Aww, I saw this before. It was so cute.

    • uh-oh Danish is posting distractions!! 😛

      • *lol*.. but I also distracted myself, as I spent time watching this before posting 😉

        • You already have 27 TYP virgins…..

          • o.o .. and now I don’t have to check up on the number again LOL. I counted them a while back, but forgot it after that and couldn’t remember which page was the last when i counted.
27, eh? It’s closing in on the number for TH. My V’s on that one has slowed down in chapter 6. So many hunters there now xD

          • 28 sorry

          • Sapfo

Sooo, who many do I got?

          • 19

          • Sapfo

Really? Wow. I did not know that.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            I have two!

          • Chapter 3 page 29 and Bonus Comic 1 page 2 ^_^

          • *lol*..only getting better. TH is harder to say since I have a handfull of ‘unofficial’ there as well from deleted page notice/art + that time the comments section was glitched and split in two so a lot of comments got lost when ever a new page was up. The glitched comments section was before ‘your time’ there I believe.

          • Sapfo

My SF are easy to count. 1 and ½

          • That wouldn’t be that surprising…..I keep meaning to type up my list of TYP virgins, so that what everyone can know which pages their virgins belong to

          • stickfigurefairytales

I would be interested in seeing that list.

    • Sapfo

      Oh poor dogs.
Try doing that to a kid. You will not like the result.

    • stickfigurefairytales

I love the ones that look at the cameraperson all like, “What are you guys trying to pull here?”

    • Sapfo

@dokidokibaka:disqus, talking about distractions. Well Here is one.

      • stickfigurefairytales

    • Svnoyiinali

The dog at :33 that looked at the camera like “really guys” cracked me up lol.

  • Sapfo
    • Jac

*kisses your face* thank you <3

  • Adam Black

JUst as I arrived with Music:

    • Sapfo

      For me? Oh thank you….

      • Adam Black

      • Adam Black

U can download that for free with the link, its a ambient Metropolis soundtrack

  • Finooola

She looks so badass in the second last panel. I like the way that cop is drawn too.
