Welcome back, Kyle!

Over on the Patreon Page, Henrique of Inkstand Studio’s pin-up of The Platinum Priestess (that I shared a preview of in my notes on this page) turned out to be overwhelmingly popular, so now Patrons are get to vote on who he’ll work on next! Would you like to have a say in that? Become a Patron and you can vote right now!

Also, there’s still time to download the sexy, fully nude The Annihilator pin-up created by Rum Locker before it’s removed from the site. Here’s the preview for that one:

$5+ Patrons can download two digital wallpapers of the full pin-up immediately: both a SFW headshot and the fully nude NSFW image over sexy black! And $10+ Patrons will be sent high-res versions with over double the resolution on the 10th of March!

There are lots of great benefits to being a Patron (you can see them all here along with an explanation of what the heck Patreon is), and you’d really be helping me out if you became one too. If you’re enjoying our work here and would like to see it continue (and would like to get access to all kinds of special benefits),

please take a moment to watch the video on my Patreon page and consider becoming a Patron.

So! Kyle is back in the fight—and he seems angry! Will we like Kyle when he’s angry?

Tune in this Saturday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  • Ahh. Yay, Kyle.. and NO, Kyle. Danger, danger. Going to get hurt more.

    • stickfigurefairytales

But of course Kyle couldn’t bear to stand by and let his friends die. He’s such a good kid.

      • Klaus

Heroes don’t let the monsters win.

    • Curt Clark

Jean Grey showed us that the price of heroism can sometimes be steep indeed.

But if Kyle can choose to sacrifice himself and save his friends, it’s a no-brainer; that’s why any of them put on the costumes.

  • stickfigurefairytales

    GO KYLE, GO!!!!!!!!!

  • davefragments

Now that looks like an absolutely brutal blast of fire.

    • Curt Clark

It’s white at the center. I don’t think Kyle’s ever thrown a WHITE-hot blast of fire.

  • jreed3842

    O.o

    • stickfigurefairytales

*squints* Is your icon of a pokemon, jreed?

      • Ethan

        Looks like alakazam

        • stickfigurefairytales

That’s what I was thinking! But I wasn’t sure if I was just imagining it from playing too much Pokemon Go lately.

          • Ethan

They introduced gen 2, how can you not??

          • jreed3842

I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN GEN 2 WAS RELEASED. I have been waiting forever to get myself a Slowking and an Espeon!!

          • stickfigurefairytales

Do you know if you get things like the King’s Rock from Pokestops or some other way?

          • Ethan

Probably, I got a dragon scale from a pokestop

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Good to know, thanks!

          • Ethan

            You’re welcome 😀

          • Ethan

            Umbreon all the way!!

          • jreed3842

Umbreon is one of the few dark types I actually like.
Psychic is my favorite type… So… Naturally I’m annoyed by dark types. Haha.
But Umbreon and Absol are cool Pokemon… I don’t hate them.
Umbreon is probably my third favorite Eeveelution right behind Espeon and Leafeon.
I gotta say I do love its shiny form a lot better than Espeon’s though. Shiny Umbreon is so cool!

          • stickfigurefairytales

I still have a big soft spot for Vaporeon, which was my favorite of the first Eeveelutions, but both Umbreon and Espeon are awesome in my opinion.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Leafeon’s pretty great, too.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            And Jolteon.

          • jreed3842

Grass is my second favorite type… So I adore Leafeon.
Glaceon is really cool too… And Jolteon…
Honestly the whole Eeveelution line is great. They’re all so cute. (Espeon is the blatantly correct choice though hehe :P)

          • Mariona

Glaceon and leafeon are my favorites, eventhough my favorite types are fire, psychic and fairy. But I love all eeveelutions. ^^

          • stickfigurefairytales

My favorite types are Water and Dragon, though there are a lot of Fire Pokemon I love, too.

          • Ethan

I know, right? Blue ringed Umbreon, or green espeon? I’ll pick blue ringed Umbreon, thx lol

          • stickfigurefairytales

            I know, right??

      • jreed3842

Yes, Indeed! You and Ethan are right! It’s Alakazam! He’s been my favorite Pokemon ever since I played Pokemon Blue waaaay back in 1998. 😛

        • stickfigurefairytales

Ahhh, awesome! My all-time favorite Pokemon is also from Gen 1 – I love Dratini so much. (It was Pokemon Red for me, though.)

          • jreed3842

My best friend loves Dragon types!

I used to have a little Dratini stuff animal when I was little. We found it at a garage sale, I loved that thing. Dratini is so cute. Hehe

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Awww! <3

          • Mariona

Dratini was always my second favorite! Nothing beats Ninetales though!

          • stickfigurefairytales

Hey, cool, my sister’s favorite is Vulpix!

          • Mariona

Yeah! More love for vulpix and Ninetales!

          • jreed3842

And I love the new Alolan forms of Vulpix and Ninetales. They look amazing.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Yes, my sister is going NUTS for those.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            They’re gorgeous.

          • Mariona

They’re the reason I’m playing sun. Eventhough I prefer Lunala.

          • stickfigurefairytales

My sister assigned me to get Moon because she’d already called Sun for precisely that reason. 😀

          • jreed3842

When Diamond and Pearl came out my boyfriend at the time made me get Pearl even though I wanted Diamond… And I always regretted it. Haha.

From that moment on I will never let someone pressure me into getting a version I didn’t want. 😛

            Pokemon Moon for the win!

          • jreed3842

My sister’s favorite Pokemon of all time is Ninetales!

          • Charmander

          • stickfigurefairytales

            What an adorable little guy.

          • baby dragon with fire on his tail, I couldn’t resist

          • jreed3842

            I picked Bulbasaur!
He started my tradition of always picking Grass types.
Bulbasaur was my first Pokemon ever so he holds a very special place in my heart. Hehe

          • stickfigurefairytales

I’m playing Moon right now, and I went with the Grass starter for that. 🙂

          • jreed3842

            Rowlet is SO CUTE.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            I know!!! <3333

          • Mariona

Rowlett is great. And also my first choice. ^^
            I’m playing sun though.

          • stickfigurefairytales

Rowlett is such a good. I nicknamed mine “Friend” because that’s what he is.

          • Doki is allergic to grass -_-

          • stickfigurefairytales

Oh no, that would such EVEN MORE in the world of Pokemon, what with all the tall grass you’d have to walk through!

          • stickfigurefairytales

Plus Charizard was so awesome. I have so much love for dragons and dragon-like creatures.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Charmander was my original starter.

          • Mariona

            Mine too!

        • Squishy

Yay! I <3 Alakazam! I was so excited when I finally got one in Pokémon Go!

          • stickfigurefairytales

            I still don’t have one yet. >_<

          • jreed3842

IT TOOK ME FOREVER!!!! LIKE …SIX MONTHS.
I have an Abra as my buddy and walked my ass off to get enough candy…. The day he finally evolved was beautiful. Hehe

          • stickfigurefairytales

That’s what I’ve been doing with my Dratini, but I still have a very long way to go.

          • jreed3842

Yeah I am nowhere near a Dragonite… My boyfriend lives near a river and when I got to visit every once in awhile a Dratini will show up… But I thats the only place I have ever seen one!

  • stickfigurefairytales

Kyle used Rage! It’s super effective!

  • Saxon_Brenton

I think Red Hot is getting better at focusing past the pain of channeling loads of hellfire. Which is to be expected. I’ve ranted on in the past about his ridiculously high willpower.

    • stickfigurefairytales

You can do it, Kyle! Hang in there!!

  • davefragments

Kyle is one of those people you don’t want to see angry… Their slow burn is deadly when it finally blows. Kind of like Vesuvius or Krakatoa.

  • Mariona

Here’s the heroic moment we’ve all been hoping for!

  • Taddy

-struggles to ignore the “slight” shadow lump of Lamp’s-

    -coughs-

    • darius404

Clearly the stub of a demonic tail behind him. Sure. Have we ever seen him from behind?

    • SleepingDragon

I have to confess that despite being a presumably mature gay man I spend an unreasonable amount of time, after initially taking the scene in, squinting at what may or may not be the Shadow of the Devil Dong ™ in amusement bordering on a giggle.

  • No threatening harm to Spooky…

  • I’m so stuck between being relieved that Kyle has it in him to fight back, and helping his friends, and the fear that this is going to cause him a lot more pain. As much faith as I have in Kyle, and he keeps going to new levels of power, he can’t do this alone.

If I wasn’t (nearly) 100% sure that Kyle will get through this, and oki in the end, I would be fretting a whole lot more.
Though… I know ‘oki in the end’ could be a little more relative in my definition compared to Alex’s >.>
Correction, I’m feeling 100% sure Kyle will be alive in the end of this arch.

At this point I’m ready for someone putting a metaphorical pin in Spooky, and get his ass back on the ground and doing something.

    • Raymond Saint-Pierre

Laampros could be horned through the gate? Not to be too arch, but Kyle’s got his own flaming arc!

  • David Welbourn

Oo. Laampros is off-balance and I _think_ I see a bone circle right behind him. I’m not imagining it, am I? There seems to be a better-than-zero chance that Demon Daddy may fall back through the circle into Hell because of this huge blast delivered with the force of a red-bordered speech balloon! Throw us a bit of luck, Fluke. Make it so.

    • Saxon_Brenton

Hey yes, it does look like the bone gate is in just the right position for a dramatic exit (I’m suddenly picturing Laampros falling backwards through the portal, grabbing the gate to support himself, but having it crumble in his hands).

So, how much kinetic force do red word balloons add to flame bursts?

      • Curt Clark

        Depends on who’s delivering them.

Sometimes a small speech bubble in the preceding panel can result in a big kaboom next — this is the ‘Joss Whedon’ style of speech-bubble power-up.

What we’re seeign here looks more like a classic Claremontian speech-bubble power-up. Jagged explode-y ‘yelling’ speech bubbles or red-rimmed ‘intense’ balloons bth have roughly the same amplifying effect, especially when delivered at a turning point in a battle.

  • Squishy

Kyle: don’t make me angry! You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry!

  • Squishy

I don’t know why, but I was just thinking that Kyle and Tsunami could combine their powers to make an instant hot tub anywhere. Clearly super powers would be waised on me…

    • davefragments

      And go surfing, too

    • stickfigurefairytales

Or you would be the best possible person to have them.

    • They could start a spa 😉

  • Brian Hopkins

Tsu: Sure, let him flambé me, but go ballistic when he threatens your bed-buddy.

    • timemonkey

Maybe don’t be an ass continually for like four chapters?

  • Kate G

DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN, Kyle. You sure know when to make an entrance.

  • timemonkey

Wow, his fire went from not even registering to being strong enough to knock daddy off his feet. I’m guessing someone is regretting giving him power ups right about now.

    • Curt Clark

It’s WHITE fire now. Even if Laampros is still resistant to the flame, it’s also carrying a payload of concussive force to it. Even Laampros’ fire hasn’t gone white hot yet.

  • TheManBehindTheCurtain

Oh well, so much for the fish fry.

  • Morgan

Hell yeah, Kyle! Kick his ass! Save your friends! (And rescue your Spooky ❤️)

    • Raymond Saint-Pierre

Wouldn’t burn his butt fit the bill?

  • Mary Klemzak

    Yes! Yes! Yes!

    GO GET HIM KYLE!!!!

  • Airboy Obsessed

I want to say UFS spotted but Unidentified Flying Spooky kinda negates the U part…

    • Klaus

      An Identified Flying Person.

  • PreludeToA

it’s the second to last stand!

    • Raymond Saint-Pierre

That’s the next to penultimate last stand? )

  • TwilightDreamer

    YAAAAYYY!!! Go Kyle! 😀

  • Jeldenil

Yeah, Kyle, I get you. I kindof felt the same about my dad when I was a teen.

  • Klaus

The flame does not seem to obey Laampros’ will anymore.

    • Curt Clark

      Here’s hoping.

Laampros, demon lord though he may be, still seems to have to concentrate to do more than one thing at a time. Meaning that he can’t toast Tsunami, torture Kyle, AND squish Spooky at the same time. One of those things was going to give, and it turned out to be the thing that he wasn’t expecting.

  • purplefoxglove

Good thing Spooky is already floating, or this would be a rough landing O.o

  • purplefoxglove

    Panel 1 = poster print?

  • And they are still working as a team. Tsunami held things together for long enough that Kyle had a chance to focus through the pain and do *this*.

  • Nate

i was close! “Stay away from my friends!” as opposed to “Nobody hurts my friends”.:D

And Spooky goes flying off again. 😉

  • Hans Niemand

Like Will Smith sang so many years ago:
    “Parents just don’t understand!”

    • bronakopdin

randomly waving at other German folks x3

  • bronakopdin

    YES
but then… we already got to this… the element of surprise only works for the first attack each time T___T I hope more support will arrive soon goddammit!!!
I wonder whether Kyle can stand the ground alone for now…

and holy crap what is with Gordon?!???!

    • timemonkey

The first might be all they need. They need to knock him through the portal, not actually defeat him.

      • bronakopdin

well no as the first surprises and attacks are long gone, which is why I said this in the first place ^^’

        • timemonkey

Kyle is surprise attacking him right now. Which might be enough to knock him through the portal.

          • bronakopdin

I think it hardly counts as a surprise anymore, only a little and I also highly doubt it would suddenly be this easy.
Wouldn’t it also be hella convenient then that he dropped Spooky?
Somehow I think Alex is more creative than that 😉

          • timemonkey

Big Red has literally spent most of his time here powering Kyle up. They’re not going for a kill or even a KO, just a knock back through the portal. And we already see Kyle has knocked him off his feet, whether it’s enough or they’ll need a bit more is unknown but there’s really not much more that can be dragged out here, they’re running out of cards to play and we’re in the last chapter so there’s still the aftermath to deal with.

          • bronakopdin

Well I was constantly assuming they’ll finally get backup and that it will flow from there…

I am actually a little disappointed it really seems now on the next page that it will suddenly work like this, I still think it is a tadbit lame x’D but oh well you can’t always be happy with everything ^^
I still am somewhat excited what this new power will mean to Kyle and the others!

          • timemonkey

Well, this whole comic is Kyle’s story, the story of how he saves the world and becomes Earth’s greatest hero. So he’s actually got to do something to earn that title.

As for backup the only thing coming was an airstrike which would have killed them all.

  • Saxon_Brenton

Minor observation: those nasty looking spikes at Red Hot’s knees and elbows are really easy to miss in panel 1 because of the way they resemble the background debris.

  • Yeahhhhhh Kyle!!

  • Sebastian East

Go kyle. I think after the end of this kyle should turn back to normal but keep a small trait of a demon like his fangs or maybe small horns. What does everybody else think of this idea.

    • Raymond Saint-Pierre

I think we’ve seen where another “little” horn on Kyle has already shown it’s rise!

  • Juliette Leroux

And now we need a novel with the whole fight seen from inside Spooky’s mind, his body more or less slowly drifting in the air…

    • Klaus

The story of one of those people from the glass box. What are they thinking right now?

      • Juliette Leroux

Oh yes! All the souls interacting inside Spooky.

  • Bitch, you thought! Go Kyle, save your boo!

    • Hannah Knapp

      Spooky boo

  • Jason Moon

“CURSES! Broiled again… which really wouldn’t affect me at all, would it?”

Sometimes you just tell your parents something OVER AND OVER again, and it’s like talking to a wall. Kyle tried talking to his man-to-man and since that didn’t work, he has to resort to more drastic measures(As if that came as a surprise to anyone).

  • Zephyr10101

Every page im reminded of Firebreather

  • Richard Grant Muir

Teeming with metaphors… parents being literal bad influences, for one. LGBT people often have a chosen “family” that is not blood; messing with family brings out the protective nature of most people. And, of course, play with fire and you’re gonna get burned. 😛

    • Curt Clark

This is precisely where my mind went during this whole fiasco.

  • D. G.

Well, I’m glad Kyle got Spooky out of the danger zone for now. I hope Spooky will heal tsu when the fight is over.

    • Juliette Leroux

      Yep, me too.

  • davefragments

I just finished reading “Forbidden Brides of the Faceless Slaves in the Secret House of the Night of Dread Desire” by Neil Gaiman. It’s a short graphic novel, gothic horror at its most horrific. I’m still smiling and giggling at it and I will be tomorrow.

    • Juliette Leroux

      Need to get this one!

      • davefragments

It’s the toast points that will give me nightmares!

  • Daveo

Glad 2c he’s got his gumption back!! 😉

  • Well, I like Angry!Kyle at this point. 🙂

  • Snorlaxation

Kyle’s Dad: I don’t like the influence your friends have on you!

    Kyle: Oh, Daaaad…

    (cue late 80’s sitcom music)

  • Toli Bera

“Daaaaaaaa~ad! You’re totally embarrassing me in front of my friends~!”

    • D. G.

      Lol.

  • Jac

    YEA KYLE YEA KYLE

We need a rousing song to mark this moment!

  • Saxon_Brenton

Another minor art observation for panel 1: The direction that Spooky’s trechcoat is fluttering makes it look like he’s moving away from Laampros. It seems that Red Hot’s force bolt has not only enough kinetic force to push Laampros backwards towards the bone gate, it’s created some sort of explosive recoil that is carrying Spooky away.
(Unless he’s being carried away by the force of those speed lines, of course)

    • Curt Clark

It’s a good distinction. Kyle is attacking now, with the fire he’s stored up from Laampros’ previous attacks, rather than trying to continue to drain, after that tactic was shown to be ineffective.

      Shows our firebug’s learning. :3

  • Dennis Grace

Now we’re cookin’ with gas. Sic him, Kyle.

  • purplefoxglove

Wait, Kyle gets pissed now that Spooky is in danger. Does that mean he does not consider Gordon to be his friend? Or did he simply not have enough time to react fast enough to save Gordon?

    • D. G.

He may have been in too much pain to help tsu.

    • He may have been a dissorientated and in pain from previous blow, having to get his grounds before striking again. I believe ‘friends’ include all of them.

  • Jac

Tbh, challenging him to a Rock-off would have been much easier than this.

  • Do not mess with the baby’s baby.

    go get him kyle 🙂

  • Skudplastr

Yikes! My boy is turning red!!

  • purplefoxglove

Hi guys, I love you all!

Handed in my Master’s Thesis today. I think I’m going to sleep for a week now.

    • davefragments

      Good to hear. Congratulations.

      • purplefoxglove

        Thank you 🙂

    • Congrats!! You deserve the sleep!

      • purplefoxglove

        Thanks and yes ^_^

    • Wohoo, big congratz and good luck 🙂

      • purplefoxglove

        Thanks! 😀

  • Pietro7

It’s the Red Border of Anger in play on this strip. i think Kyle’s getting reeeeeel focused about now.

    • Curt Clark

His fire certainly is, if the white-hot center and evident concussive force behind the blast is any indication.

  • Saxon_Brenton

    PAGE 1 – Bad Neighbours
(1.1) Medium shot of Shane, Dewey and Matt standing in the same apartment entry foyer as episode 13. Shane frowns as a mouthy neighbour walks down the stairs behind them.
Bryson: “Aw shit Strezlecki, get outta they way. You and your faggy boyfriends aren’t welcome…”
(1.2) Medium shot. Shane doesn’t turn around, but smacks his fist up and backwards over his shoulder, punching Bryson in the face.
(1.3) Medium shot. Shane calmly grabs Bryson and rams his face into the wall, knocking him unconscious.
(1.4) Medium shot of Shane, Dewey and Matt in the foyer, with the unconscious Bryson. Dewey is frowning at Bryson and leaning forward. Matt is visibly untensing and unclenching his hands.
Shane: “Sorry about that. He’s a mouthy asshole to everybody.”
Matt: “Eh. I’ve seen worse, especially at work. I mean, obviously. So, he’s been making a pain of himself?”
Shane: “Yeah. Although after Mrs Whittaker rolled over his foot and broke a bone I haven’t seen him mouthing off any other little old ladies, even the ones not made of bio-steel.”

    PAGE 2 – Bad Snake
(2.1) Medium shot of Shane, Dewey and Matt in the foyer, with the unconscious Bryson. Shane notices Dewey leaning over Bryson with his mouth open.
    Shane: “Hey! Cut that out.”
(2.2) Medium shot of everybody in same places. Dewey turns to frown at Shane.
Shane: “No, I mean it. No toasting him with fire, no biting him and melting him into goo. I’ve got a hippocratic oath to keep, and I went to a lot of trouble to just knock him out.”
(2.3) Medium shot of everybody in same places. Shane continues to castigate Dewey.
Shane (pointing a thumb at Matt): “And what about Matt, huh? Cops get upset when they just want to grab a beer after work and they see something that puts them back on duty. That’s rude man. Not cool.”
(2.4) Medium shot of everybody in same places.
Dewey (pouty face): ” grump ”
Shave (massaging bridge of nose): “Cats. I swear, it’s like herding cats.”
Matt (amused, teasing expression): “I thought nurses took the Nightingale Pledge rather than the Hippocratic Oath.”
    Shane: “Argh!”

It’s time for another page update.
How is everyone tonight? I hope all is well.
BTW – I saw the Pittsburgh Public Theater production of 12th Night. I enjoyed it.

    • Tired, but Doki might actually be able to get back a normal sleep schedule, maybe

      • davefragments

Glad to hear. I hope you get a good night’s sleep.

      • Squishy

Wish I could say the same.

        • Squishy

My sleep schedule is all screwy and doesn’t look like it will get better soon.

          • davefragments

I woke early yesterday and had to listen to 2 hours of Morning Joe. That man is so self-absorbed and egotistical, it beyond pathetic.
I play lots of Broadway musicals if I can’t sleep.

          • Squishy

What are some of your favorite musicals?

          • davefragments

Gee, I go back a few years. Man of La Mancha, Fiddler on the roof, Cabaret, Pippin, High Society, Les Miserables, Phantom, Pirates of Penzance, Hello Dolly,

          • Squishy

Nice. I just saw Phantom. The San Jose musical theater had it as part of last season.

          • davefragments

Did the chandelier fall? That’s always a spectacular effect.

          • Squishy

Yeah. A friend of mine saw it twice and apparent one time it fell a bit more vigorously and lost a few plastic beads in the audience.

          • davefragments

I saw the original production of Man of La Mancha at the Anta-Washington Square Theater in NYC. That’s a few years ago. My Aunt only got two tickets and gave them to my brother and me. Years later I took my Mom to see the revival production in Pittsburgh and kept buying the tickets to the PPT since.

          • Squishy

Actually I was a little disappointed because she was supposed to see it with me for the first time and didn’t know about the chandelier. But she snuck behind my back and saw it the weekend before. So I didn’t get to see her reaction.

          • davefragments

Good theater makes you believe what you see is real.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Good luck, love!

    • I’m alive, which I suppose is a good thing in and of itself. It’s been a weird couple of months.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        I’m glad you’re alive.

    • I had a good day, but a long one with much to do. Went to sleep just before 11pm, even of it was friday night. Couldn’t keep my eyes open.

      • davefragments

My yesterday was too long. I slept in this morning and plan to sleep in tomorrow. It helps.

        • I will sleep again later this morning and then really sleep good and long tomorrow. Just started a 3-month course/-s time, so no sleeping in in the morning for me in, except for holidays/weekends, until late May 🙂

          • davefragments

Courses demand time. Are they interesting or would you rather have root canal?

          • It’s been the end of my first week today, and so far I really like it. Except for being there from 8 to 1:15 as a set thing, my day is very ‘free’.

We do the same almost every day from 8-10, and for the rest of the day we individually decide in the morning, whether we want to continue with that or participate in the day’s mini-course lecture.
The lecture topic changes daily, but keeps within 3-4 main theme areas, so if you find it interesting you go. If you decide not to, you keep to the morning programme, or you can choose to exercise/train.
Sometimes, every 2-4 weeks, there’s various events trips out of the school as well. Yesterday (friday) I chose to participate in the event. It was a ‘history’ trip. First a lecture about my city’s history. Then we went to see one of our oldest main churches, a trip around the old monestary next to it (build in the 1400s/expanded in the 1500s) and finished at a small historic museum.

          • davefragments

That’s so different from what I’m used to calling a “course.”

          • Yes. For me too. Courses are closer than calling it school. It IS a time you commit too. Despite the days being very free, you have to show up or call in sick (or be away for work). It’s basically mini-courses to expand your knowledge within 3-4 work areas, so you can widen your options for searching jobs.
I will also probably be sent out on an (actual) course elsewhere, during the next three months, after my own request, to get a certificate so that I’m allowed to make food (ex. for kids in a kindergarden).

          • davefragments

After my degree, additional courses were like one week of Statistics, two weeks of Catalysts, a day of sexual harassment training, “How to audit,” Public Relations (for the hopeless like me), and then there was safety courses.

      • morning Danish!

        • Evening to you 🙂

          • I might fall asleep before the page comes, I only had a couple hours nap on the couch and cleaned my bathroom to try to stay awake this morning. I was trying to stay up until a “normal” bed time hour.

          • clean bathroom, clean litter boxes that got washed and I was able to keep Oli away from them until I put litter in one, cleaned up the recycling on the porch because mother won’t take them to the recycle place. Was outside long enough for my allergies to get bad despite taking allergy medicine this morning…

          • stickfigurefairytales

Wow, very busy! No wonder you’re so tired.

    • Nirgal

It’s Friday night and I’m still working at the office.

      So yeah. Great for me.

      • davefragments

        You have my sympathies.

      • stickfigurefairytales

        Oh man, I’m sorry. -_-

    • stickfigurefairytales

I am full of fury about the state of things in America, but on an immediate personal level I am good.

      • davefragments

I am too. I try to stay within bounds but last week, I lost it and screamed at the TV so bad, I embarrassed the TV and myself. I was alone but I still regret losing it like that.

        • stickfigurefairytales

It is very hard not to lose it, given all of the horrible things being said and done. These are grim times.

          • davefragments

I worked for six presidents and some of the people I worked with went back to the Eisenhower administration. Eventually things return to the good.

          • stickfigurefairytales

But it’s the people who don’t survive in the meantime that I’m worried about most.

  • I am going to have say good night. I am falling asleep. Night/day/morning everyone.

    • Good night, Doki. I hope you sleep well.

    • stickfigurefairytales

      Good night, Doki! Sleep well!

    • davefragments

      Have a good rest

    • stickfigurefairytales

I’m sorry I just missed you, but I hope you get a good night’s sleep!

      • *sigh* I only got a three hour nap, hopefully I will be able to go back to sleep soon.

    • G’Night Doki!

  • *Sigh* I’m in that post-reading downtime again xD
Just finished reading three books (+some free bonus short stories I found) in a series, and have spend almost all my available free/reading time in the past week to do so. Now hit the point where I have to wait months for the next book in series to release… and I just want mooore *lol*
(Seriously, read the Five Boroughs series by Santino Hassell. It’s m/m and damn good).

Now to find something else to read when I’ve had a day to digest not being able to continue this one just yet. Damn, may have to see of I can find money to buy another series by same author.
When I get this absorbed in a series, hitting a (temporary or permanent) end book is like going cold turkey.

Books/reading is my drug of choice LOL

    • davefragments

Nicholas Basbanes called his book on collecting and reading — A Gentle Madness

      • That is a fitting phrase 🙂

I don’t smoke, don’t do drugs, drink very rare and little when I do.. but books/reading. Give me a couple days where I can’t read at all, and I might possibly bite your head off. I will seriously get restless and cranky as hell.

        • davefragments

I have an 8 by 12 foot wall of books and several stacks 3 foot high. So I’m reading Gaiman’s Norse Mythology and Sobel’s The Glass Universe, with two more books waiting for their turn.

    • stickfigurefairytales

I might have to check that series out. Thanks for the recommendation!

      • Do it! I’m not the only one loving it. All books in this series have a 4.6 or 4.7 of 5 stars on Amazon. One of his other (newest) series, that I hope to read soon has from 4.6-4.8 stars on Amazon.
Ratings for each of his books aren’t much lower on GoodReads, despite 1000s of ratings given there.

    • Nirgal

May I suggest the Vorkosigan saga by Lois McMaster Bujold? They’re amazing.

  • davefragments

    Patreon is spitting white fire

    • What does that even mean?

      • stickfigurefairytales

I know that Dave usually says something to indicate when he get the new page notification from Patreon, but in this particular instance I don’t understand what it means either.

      • davefragments

When I see the page in Patreon (I’m a supporter there), I post some message about “Patreon rumbling” or doing something that says, the page went up there. Alex posts three more things on PAtreon before he posts to the website.

        • stickfigurefairytales

What does “sitting white fire” mean, though?

          • davefragments

            “spitting”
            Sorry, I misspelled it.

          • stickfigurefairytales

            Ah, that helps, thank you!

          • davefragments

It must update on my page and no one else’s page.
            oops, call me fumble fingers

          • Ok, that makes a bit more sense. Thanks.

  • davefragments
  • purplefoxglove

    Thank you! ^_^

    You’ve ,made him angry now
